Pedro supplied me with this little piece yesterday via a Grover called John.
Last summer principal ballerina Tamara Rojo suffered a career threatening ankle injury.She was recommended to consult an expert in such injuries in Cuba. In 3 weeks she was back dancing.If one of the world’s great ballerinas can be swiftly returned to fitness to perform in this most physically demanding art form, is it too much to hope that the same can be done for Robin Van Persie?
It does beg the question, are our specialists rubbish? I have been to the ballet and they jump around far more than our footballers do, perhaps we should explore ballet doctors rather than horse placenta ones in Serbia, just a thought.
One site says we are after 30 year old Craig Bellamy, as a stopgap I would have a punt, my only concern is his ability to disrupt a changing room, hmmmm.
Denilson says he can take over from Song and has just extended his contract, I think Denilson will turn out okay, my question is when, it’s no secret he doesn’t play for Brazil so they don’t rate him yet either. I was heartened to hear he will support England second though, nice touch Denilson. I would love to know what we pay him!
Liverpool won yesterday and that’s pegged Villa back so if we can beat Portsmouth tonight we can put a gap in there, so that is good, if we can’t beat Portsmouth tonight we will never win the Premier league, I expect an emphatic win and I also expect to see more of a Carling Cup side.
We did that last season and thumped them, we need Ramsey to be at his best, it’s him I think will take over from Cesc’s and he needs a big game, Arsenal expect Aaron, and I believe we’ll see it.
Maybe he’ll partner Walcott with Vela instead of Eduardo and Arshavin, mix it a bit, I have high hopes that we’ll soon see the Eduardo we bought, talent like that doesn’t disappear overnight.
In theory if we keep winning we could end January as league leaders, two more days to see if we are going to sign a striker early doors, The Sunday papers should be fun eh!
We are now being talked about as title contenders, first time in a long time, feels good doesn’t it.
Have a great day Grovers, I know you’ll enjoy tonight.

It’ll be a fullish side against West Ham, I’d be surprised to see Wilshere start
The leagues in our hands.
Win every game between now and the end of the season and we’re champs.
Is BBK on “Girlfriend in a Coma” yet, do you reckon?
Theo to start against West Ham if he is fit
Happy with that, Very Comfortable.
Relax BBK, you can hold off killing yourself for another day mate.
Song got MOTM which was maybe wrong. I thought he was excellent again (I am buying a Song Shirt) but thought Ramsey probably deserved it. He started a bit nervous, but grew into the game and his talent just oozed out. I hope he keeps his place if Denilson gets fit quick. I have seen more in Ramsey in his brief appearances than I have in Denilson in years.
My Ratings
Almunia 6
Sagna 6
Gallas 7
Verm 7
Traore 7
Song 8
Ramsey 8.5
Diaby 7.5
Arsh 6
Eduardo 6
Nasri 7.5
He’s well happy Baxter. More than us because he was expecting a draw
Baxter, you wont know, he always dissapears when things go well.
For once BBK I would love it if you came on and gave a bit of praise to the boys, they did pretty well tonight.
Although he is probably on Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now
difficult shout for MOTM tonight… some close runners
Pat
the difference between Rambo and Denilson, is that young Ramsey seems to have much more agression going forward. He’s far more attacking, and chips in with more goals. Maybe he makes the odd poor pass, but that would surely lessen if he got a dcent run of games. I too agree he looks a better player than Denilson and given his age and the few games he gets, I just can’t fathom why he’s further down the squad pecking order!
The Song song sung is rubbish.
Baxter;
Where you been dude?
Goonerman;
Its the Only Song song we have….
Talkin of songs, I think we need a few for some of our players; Samir, Vermilli, Diaby to name 3…
HAPPY NEW YEAR
I thought Nasri was pretty dam fantastic tonight too… Capped it with a goal and an assist…
Denilson makes us a more comfortable team when he’s around. We can move forward more in the knowledge that it is strong at the back.
Wa-Heyyyyy!!!! BBK!!! Happy new year to you mate!
You will be seeing in the New year wont you? You aint still thinkin of doin sumfin silly mate?
the only player i have hope for scored the best goal tonight,big up rambo
i would of if we lost tonight m.g
The ONLY palyer you have hope for???
Sheeeesh, you crazy!
Happy New Year BBK. We were ahit we didn’t create nothing without theo and walcott.
No offence, I aint concerned out of some brotherly Gooner ,ove or anything… I just wanna make sure you is still around come may to give me the £100!!!
The chavs wouldve drawn that game tonight… I tell theee
Arsene Wenger has hinted he is ready to spend in the January transfer window as he looks to continue Arsenal’s Premier League title quest.
The Gunners boss has often been criticised for his caution in the transfer market, although he splashed out at this time last year to land Andrey Arshavin.
And after watching his side cruise to a 4-1 success over Portsmouth at Fratton Park, lifting to them within four points of leaders Chelsea with a game in hand, the Frenchman refused to rule out further new year additions.
The Emirates Stadium outfit are the most prolific in the Premier League, with 51 goals to their name, yet Wenger still feels further attacking additions may be required to maintain their title challenge.
When asked if he would buy in January, Wenger told Sky Sports: “We are not against it and at the moment we look, but we are not on any case.
“It depends on how the injuries come back. We have to assess a little bit how (Nicklas) Bendtner is, how long (Cesc) Fabregas and Denilson will be out and assess that.”
Balance
Wenger knows finding quality signings midway though the season can be tough, and is also keen to continue the development of his talented squad.
“It is, of course,” he said, when questioned on how difficult it is to find worthwhile January arrivals. “We also have good young players behind, so we have to evaluate that as well.
“Everybody tells us to buy strikers, but we score goals, so we have a good balance and we have many offensive players on the pitch, and I believe our team play allows us to score.”
Wenger has vowed that his side will give their all in the battle against Chelsea and Manchester United to claim the Premier League crown.
He said: “We believe. We are up for it. You can see the commitment is 100 per cent there, the focus is there and the talent is there.
“It will be very interesting. I promise we will fight and this team will give absolutely everything. We believe – if we don’t believe nobody will believe.
lollll g.m
Raynor,
With Denilson, Diaby and Song we have had to wait for 3 years or more for them to find and deliver any kind of consistent quality.
With players like Ramsey, Cesc, Clichy, Gibbs, Wilshire you can see it instantly and seem to get results a lot quicker.
Ramsey will be a great player
Stats:
last season after 19 games 32 points
this season after 19 games 40 points.
Excellent.
ooops we’ve got 41 points. I’m pissed.
Ha Ha
well done BBK, good to see you,
So what did you think of that? Personally I think Denilson being injured did us a favour. With Ramsey, he moves the game forward more and that in turn leads to us creating chances.
thought it would be a bit more trickier myself, but it was very very comfortable.
Maybe there is a Gooner and HMRC who released the winding up order today.
On the Pompey fans though, I think they are immense and a credit to the team they support
forget the stats I’m totally off me head. drunk too much during the match.
Pattg;
To be fair though, Ramsey has had a fair few dodgy games and I wouldnt say he is ready week in, week out just yet and we had to play Cesc while he learnt the ropes too… The thing is, we have done that with a few too many yutes in at the same time…
But Diaby and Song are looking effin top class right now….
Gman;
Haha! Good work fella!
Denilson is a different kinda player, more defensive than Ramsey…
Ransey is a quality player already and will be effin amazing… Even better than Cesc…. Shit, did I just say that???
Ramsey will be the next Bryan Robson; immense.
Fucking hell, Wenger aint gonna spend any money!
fuck the pompey fans t.b.h i think there cunts,back to rambo,that is one player we need to carry on as he is,the guy was immense today the way he went through van den bore or what ever his name is then cut in and smacked it into the bottom corner FUCKING MAGIC…..
Great win that … is ramsey left footed?
diaby was good in the first half then faded in the second
Petit picked Arshavin in his all-time Arsenal XI
It was actually a tie between Overmars and Arshavin
That is part of my point MG
Playing Song and Denilson together is too negative.
And you are right, Ramsey has put in some dodgy games, but Denilson and co have 3 seasons of them behind their belts.
Song has convinced me now that he is/going to be a great player and is marginally behind Cesc as my player of the 1st half of the season.
Diaby in the last month has been excellent, but he needs to keep that up. Before that it was 1 good game in 5 or 6 but he finally seems to have found some consistency.
There has been something going ‘wrong’ in the league for the past two weeks.Diaby playing well!
I dont think playing Song and Denilson is too negative, i just dont think Denilson is good enough.
I think we need to play 2 holding MFs because we are poor defensively, we just need a better one alongside Song.
http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/hockeybladet/sverige/elitserien/modo/article6365051.ab
Swedish Newspaper – Aftonbladet – tommorrow elading with a picture of Ramsey celebrating his goal, and some comments read ‘red army, red army, red army’ – proof we reach every bloody corner of teh world, hmmm, strange that no photos of MU though, but praising Arsenal’s result!!!
Ramsay. Wow.
really though,it’s about time diaby started playing better and stringing some quality displays as he has been doing
Pat;
Petit is pretty effin clueless if you ask me…
Diaby has learned to keep it simple and pass much more. He’s a very good passer and dribbler. He has the potential to be the complete CM if he works on the defensive side of his game
PS Headline reads: Chelsea psyched
gambon;
I think its a more collective thing, re’ the defense. Look at Gallas berating Ramsey in the 1st half for not trackin the Pompey player for instance… Even the new hope Ramsey wasnt pulling his defensive weight tonight!
Song has always been decent imo. In fact you say that he’s the……
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wYoLQc-x5g
Paulinho;
True dat…
Diaby has room for improvement if he realises the fact that the premier league is not three a side game played in his backyard
Jabuar;
Look, I admire your stubborn refusal to admit you are wrong… But give it a rest squire!
Haha! Sorry;
Jaguar!
Fuck’s sake Mancunian
Sorry Mangoonian
Ive gotta say, Aaron Ramseys gonna be one hell of a player.
Think about where Gerrard/Lampard were at 18?! Nowhere. He will be the best midfielder, if not player, in the prem!!
Jaguar;
gambon;
Yeah, you’re right mate… Sky’s the limit for him…
If only Wenger doesnt take his shooting boots off.
I think Eastmond might be another little gem too… Very early days, but he looks a real prospect… And to think that traore was being shown the door by a lot of Gooners, saying he was defensively poor… The lad has been fantastico!
Gerrard and Lampard were pretty decent at 18 gambon, Gerrard especially! Though Ramsey really is going to be absolutely superb. He needs to work on his general awareness especially defensively, but he’s improving all the time, and is a very special talent.
Yeah Mang – our best left back now for me! Superb player.
A;
Yeah, its his defensive responsibilites he needs to work on, as I mentiuoned before, but that will come for sure… Its the last thing innit…
I really dont know what we are gonna do with 3 top LBs though??? Hmmmm…
We’ve scored more goals than any other team from outside the box this season, apparantlty…
I reckon Clichy could be gone in the summer Mang, let Madrid have him for £10 mil plus Benzema!
10 million plus Benzema?Are you joking A?
Though I would gladly eat that pie.
Great result tonight!
I’ve just written the last Le Grove post of the decade… It’s been emotional.
I post at nine!
Have a good night!
Not a big Traore or Eastmond fan. Prepared to give Eastmond a lot more time, including a loan to prove it, but i dont think Traore understands the position, although physically he is a monster.
I am indeed Jaguar, though I wouldn’t mind an exchange deal of some sort involving those two, we’d probably have to part with a little bit of cash though!
I am really short of words to describe this blog Pedro. You guys are doing a fantastic job.
gambon;
You seriously cannot see how amazing Traore has done at LB fella??? I am shocked!
A;
I think a straight swap mate! Real are desperate for a quality LB and Benzema’s stock has gone down loads since he went to madrid…
I think given Traore’s impressive form, defensively, he could even slip into the CB position in time… Ha!
Either its a straight swap or Clichy+5M.
Mang
Yes i agree he’s done well, but i dont rate a player on 3 games. Overall im just not sure he’s good enough, but we’ll see. Obviously not gonna complain if he turns into the new Traore!
* the new Cole
gambon;
Yeah, course, I wouldnt rate or slate a player on a few games, but I think, given the fact he has come in as 3rd choice LB and in some big games too, he has done extremely well…
Against Villa, he was immense and helped to curtail the counter attacks of their pacey twats…
Thought Diaby had a very good game and Song had a good game too, my favourite two players on the pitch today were Diaby and Vermaleon, who is fast becoming one of my favourite players, fantastic defender, one of the buys of the season, great signing by Wenger, I hope he cane be here for years to come, he’s top class. Everyone was pretty good, no-one was terrible, great goal from Ramsey, reminded me of Gerrard, Nasri’s best Arsenal game I have seen for a while, since the beggning he looked a lot better, a lot sharper and made a difference, Eduardo is slowly improving, still a long way to go though, Eastmond looks like a great prospect, I wouldn’t be uncomfortable with him filling in for Song, looks like he could do well, pleased overall, all about consistenty though, will song be back for the Man U game?
another fine victory..and what a superb goal by Ramsey…Nasri stepped up too…and SOng well.ehm…i dont have to go there..
Pedro looking forward to your post tomorrow…emotional..sounds great..
bloody holidays…not able to be in here much…have a smashing New Year all Grovers…
Theo has a ripped muscle? Sheesh kebabs! That lad is sooo effin unlucky…
“But Aaron is a player who can play right-back, left wing, central midfielder. He is an all-rounder. Cesc is a playmaker. But what they have in common, when they are on the pitch, is personality to say: ‘I’m not scared to play. I’m here to play the game.”
Evenin ManGoonian..on the other hand what a feckin great team we will be in the spring..when all players is back…who on earth will stop us,.me thinks we will run away with the league come mars…damned..
I seriously hope that procreation isnt on either of these guys to-do-lists.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHNOIttoPdY&feature=rec-rn-1r-2-HM
I dunno how much his stock has gone down that much since he went to Madrid Mang, 5 goals and 3 assists in 10 starts, not been sensational but been pretty good, and still starts most games for them
SongTheGreat;
Evening to you too fella… And I concur, agree and am 100% with you on all that too…
stu;
What a couple of freakin eeejits….
A;
Yeah, Im being a tad churlish there… But if they want Clichy… Well, I’m thinkin £25m…
Thank you Sky Sports for rounding the year off with a comedic cameo from Paul “glass half full” Merson. I loved Merse as a player but I suppose Jeff Stelling, who runs the Sky Sports pundits, must surely be trying to help him with a few quid of appearance money. As Merson himself would say “very much so”. Portsmouth were truly atrocious tonight but I still thought we were largely professional though a little clumsy. What Arshavin was doing I don’t know and I still have real concerns over Eduardo.
Eduardo is definately a worry, he has literally zero prescence.
Lou;
Paul Merson is biPolar to be sure… maybe its a by product of being an ex-coke head, alchy, gambler???
But he veers from one extreme to another and can look like the most morose fella in the world! Not helped by having to spend an evening with that clueless twat Richard Keys though…
Arshavin was very quiet tonight and I’d have subbed him a lot earlier, but he is quality and can always pop up with a goal or assist.
As for Eduardo, i thought he was alright tonight and is slowly geting some form again…
Yeah Mang I’d go with that! Torres or Villa to Madrid in the summer, clichy swap with Benzema, sorted!!
Yeah I’d agree about both Mang, Eduardo was decent today, did some good things, looking like he’s getting his confidence back slowly, he could really do with a nice finish.
Arshavin was pretty terrible tonight imo! Our only player who was below par imo, everyone else was good.
Yep, agreed A….
Right, time I wasnt here…
All the best to all you beautiful people!!! And If I dont seeyas…. A very effin Happy New year too…
Here’s to us winning that darned league in 2010…
MG. It’s a shame about Merse I agree but you’re right. Richard Keys is a total dog and loves to stir the shit. We have to part company on Eduardo though. I think he looks weak and indecisive. Factor in the injury etc and I guess that some ring rust is understandable. How badly we need a striker who looks truly dangerous when he gets the ball. Having to play Arshavin in a central role means we miss what magic he can weave from a wide or deeper position. I’m not convinced with the current set-up myself but have to say that recent results to tend to prove that I am wrong. I hope I am.
Arshavin is missing Fab.
Madrid are lunatics.They would have paid 20 m for Cygan.
Arshavin is just hit and miss, his passing was absolutely woeful today!
Missing: Cesc, Van Persie, Walcott, Denilson and Bendtner.
We still strolled to victory. Those pundits who keep saying that we do not have strength in depth need to go suck.
The likes of Arshavin and Eduardo are not bad players all of a sudden, they are just not at their best. I think it bodes well that we have scored 10 goals in our last 3 games and our strikers aren’t erm striking.
I would like a quality center forward brought in but if Wenger cannot find the right one then I do not think it spells the end for our season.
Eduardo could click back into gear and score 15 goals from now until the end of season or Bendtner could come back on fire, boosted by the chance to play as the lead forward instead of out on the right. Arshavin could be adapting to the center forwards position as Van Persie had to.
Lets not forget that many people ruled him out as a shit target man in the beginning.
We are in good form without important players and I think that is going to be vital for this race.
Let the games..begin!
A
yes that is your opinion ,
RE: AA23
the only reason you rate dudu as having a good game is he was involved in 2 touches which lead to goals .
AA was double teamed constantly , he was heavily marked throughout the game . and still got free !
dudu , again was anonymous !
and he NEVER has taken the lead in front of goal
he would rather play the number 2 striker , and whilst creativity IS important , clinical finishing is even more so ..
Also a HUGE fact that none take into consideration is diaby song , whilst far better than before , still ARE NOT CESC !
you need service to your striker if you want him to score !
NOT ENOUGH OF THAT AGAIN IN THE 1ST HALF .
but good game expected the win and got it ..
villa away … that’s the next game to worry about .
I’ve been posting bizarrely late the last few days so I appreciate this will have a limited audience but having actually read pretty much all of the above I’m not sure I agree with any of it particularly (comments that is, not blog)
I didn’t think anyone played that well, someone said clumsy above and that seemed to sum it up pretty well (ok, I agree with one person). We were just less clumsy than Portsmouth who really were sunday league standard last night. That said I always felt that we could step up if we needed so although I’d describe the performance, if not the result, as disappointing, it was all that was needed and I’m really not down about it and feeling we need masses of new players.
Arshavin was exceptionally quiet (that adds another 10-20 odd people to my list of agreement so I’m not that bad I guess) but he can always pop up with something.
The last two games Eddy has had some pretty plum chances that he has missed. Now obviously it would be easy to pick that up as a point of concern but he has put away chances pretty well previously and I think not doing so at the moment is more down to poor form than a poor player. He’s getting into those positions so I don’t see it as a fear of being hurt thing and once he starts scoring suddenly suddenly everything he does will seem more useful. It may not happen but I wouldn’t write him off just yet, the leap for the headed opportunity in the first half was pretty good and his swivel shot the match before was very well constructed if not finished.
Oh another thing I agree with others about for the first time is Almunia – I used to think he was a good if not great keeper and given the lack of great keepers I was quite content to stick with him. However, he has had a definite dip this season, I thought he was good last season but his form hasn’t returned one bit and for a team that plays the attacking style that Arsenal do, a keeper who can be relied upon is needed and his awful attempts at punching the ball out today has led me to the conclusion a replacement is needed.
Finally, I like Denilson, he’s not spectacular but he ALWAYS makes himself available for the simple pass allowing us to retain possession and keep playing the controlled game that we do so well. I’m not sure it would work for every team and I can see why people get frustrated but for me Denilson, Song and Cesc are our best midfield threesome even if Denilson isn’t in our top 3 individuals.
So, in conclusion in the course of one post I’ve managed to pursuade myself that instead disagreeing with you all I agree with most of you. I’m a bit drunk, can you tell?
ethan i’m not talking about arshavin being ineffective, just his passing was absolutely terrible, he misplaced pass after pass after pass, it was like song at his worst the simple passes that he inexplicably failed to do. Probably just because it was such an easy game, so he wasn’t as focussed, much happier if he has his mares against opposition where we’re winning easily and saves his moments of magic for the big games!
I wouldn’t say eduardo was anonymous, took the free kick for the first goal, was involved in the second, and set up a very good chance for diaby too in the first half. He’s not 100%, but he’s improving with every game, and did little wrong today, made some very good runs and contributed nicely to the win.
AndAPrayer
i agree , dudu isnt finishing basic chances , like ade !
(he is however a far more intelligent player than ade !)
but its a problem … if you cant really contribute up front after so many chances this season its a problem ..
AA might be anon too ,but he is basically in a new role , and that’s thru marking also that he is contained .
all opposition try to cut our supply lines if that isnt apparent to ANY arsenal fan worth there salt then your not seeing the game ..
all teams know we cant finish . so mark the ones that can finish ..
and our threat is lessened .
pompey didnt have the quality last night although i think that turkish dude , or who ever he is , doesnt look too bad ..
he looks a class above the rest at pompey .
AA23 also in his new strikers role since RVP fell injured , has only had cesc on the field for 20 odd minutes ..
and during that time looked menacing !@
like dennis
that free kick was a stroke of luck A !
even you must admit that ..
either that or dudu must practice hitting the wall in training !
.
And A its all down to service ..
As a striker he shouldnt really be fudging a pass
he should be fed the ball to take a shot ..
or am i reading too much into arsenals style of play ? ( and you ! )
and NOT much of that was being offered to him either ! he was trying to create , but his partner was static and he was defensively mugged by thugs most of the night !
listen dudu could be our new poor mans DB10 ..
he is great at interplay around the box , pretty intelligent on the end of a pass , can finish if he backs himself …
but currently and over the long stretch we have always had trouble in this area since TH14 left ..
its time to splash some cash and get in a REAL threat …
good win , 4-1 almunia let more in , and wenger was visibly pissed ! against better opposition on an away ground we might of struggled .
thank god it was pompey the cellar dwellers .

Arshavin is missing Fab.
——————————-
CORRECT ! – AA23 wants quality players around him !
i get it !
so should you A !
I can see significant improvement in Dude play today. He is much much better than last game. Dude and Arshavin are the best finishers in Arsenal.
Ethan,
Looks like Arshavin does not have confidence in some of the Arsenal players. He will start trusting them one by one if they perform like this. He might have added Diaby and Song to his trusted players list.
maurya
totally agree , it seems AA has his likes and dislikes when it comes to the players around him ,
cesc is definitely one who brings out his best , so we need more like him ..
but with dudu , like ade … he shines V’s average competition .. pompey bottom of the table 4 instance .
when dudu can slot 2 or 3 past the chev’s or manc’s in 1 game and score for fun ,then ill get excited , not before ..
i admire dudu , it must be tough to come back from that sort of injury and he made the ballet dancer’s look average .
but he was really unproven prior to the birmingham injury anyhow .
he looked good supporting ade , which enabled ade to fool you all for a while , but as a prolific goal machine … i dont think so …
33 goals in croat. league = about 8 / 10 in the EPL it looks like from where im standing …
get in saha or pay some big bucks for a quality striker ..
EDUARDO played on the left of the from 3 for the last 2 games. He has been playing “Arshavin’s” role and to be honest he has been working his ASS off for us. He hasn’t really done anything spectacular in the final 3rd but he has certainly contributed defensively.
The goal scoring touch (if it returns) will be once he gets a descent run of games with no injuries.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010 TO ALL U GUNNERS FRATERNITY!
THIS IS THE YEAR WE WILL WIN THE EPL CUP!
WALCOT IS INJURED!
…………………………………………….
Arsene Wenger last night hailed his ruthless Arsenal sharp-shooters after they left left Pompey in pieces.
Goals from Eduardo, Samir Nasri, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Song put the Gunners just four points behind leaders Chelsea with a game in hand. Nadir Belhadj grabbed a late consolation for Portsmouth.
The goal-fest also maintained Arsenal’s position as the most freescoring side in the Premier League with 51 goals – despite top scorer Robin van Persie being injured.
But Wenger admitted afterwards that he STILL intends to buy a new striker. He said: “We have problems with our strikers, it’s true. Everybody tells me to buy strikers, but nobody has scored more goals than us in the league.
“We have players who move the ball well and everybody gets in dangerous positions. With the confidence high, everyone can score goals. But we are still in the market.”
Victory for the Gunners came a month after their crushing 3-0 defeat to Chelsea which had everyone, including Wenger and his own players, writing off Arsenal’s title chances.
Wenger added: “I’m not surprised at what we’ve done since Chelsea. When we lost 3-0, I think people at that time didn’t believe what I said. It’s good. It shows that not only I can be wrong, but you can all be wrong, too.”
But the Frenchman also maintained that just as Arsenal are back in the most open title race for years, so too are the likes of Manchester City and even ailing Liverpool.
He went on: “It’s not enough, four points, from fourth. It’s completely open this season. What is interesting this season is that, from Chelsea to Man City or even Liverpool, everybody could still be there. Everyone can still drop points.”
The Arsenal boss also praised young Ramsey, who deputised for injured skipper Cesc Fabregas to stunning effect.
Wenger, who also has Theo Walcott sidelined, said: “Cesc is out for 10 days. It could be 12. Let’s say the only question mark we have is does he make our game against Everton or not. Walcott has a ripped muscle (in his side) and about the same, 10 to 12 days.
“But Aaron is a player who can play right-back, left wing, central midfielder. He is an all-rounder. Cesc is a playmaker. But what they have in common, when they are on the pitch, is personality to say: ‘I’m not scared to play. I’m here to play the game.”
Portsmouth meanwhile have now won just four of the 20 matches this season and are still trying to become only the second club in
18 seasons of the Premier League to avoid relegation after being bottom at Christmas.
The Fratton Park board were also stung by chants from their own fans of: ‘Where’s all our money gone?’ after the club were forced to deny – hours before the match – that they had been hit by a winding up order by the taxman.
Pompey have, however, been ordered to pay around £10million owed to HM Revenue and customs immediately or face a court case in the New Year.
Pompey boss Avram Grant said: ““What can I say about this? I feel the supporters are behind us and they are good for the team. I know there are problems off the pitch, but I cannot say anything about this. I have sympathy for the fans. We are trying to do our best for them. The situation is not easy.
“When I came to the team, I knew there were problems on the pitch. We’d lost seven games in a row. Off the pitch, I didn’t know about this. I don’t know now. I know the board are trying their best and [in January] I hope to have some funds. Even if it’s a difficult situation, the team can stay in the league. But we need to do something.”
Hopefully Eduardo and Nasri can pick it up from there.
Dudu should have atleast another 10 in him and Nasri another 5-7.
http://redlondon.wordpress.com/2009/08/13/pundit-predicts-arsenal-to-win-league-title/
Edvardos composure on the second goal was great. He waited for the right op. and picked out the right pass.
Hell be much better next time.
morning all
at work already at this ungodly hour, but still buzzing after yesterday’s win!
not that I am getting carried away or anything, but we that’s another ‘lesser’ side comfortably dispatched and extra +3 goals earned as far as goal difference is concerned…
YAY! now bring on WHU, we’ll blast them into the next week and wash off that disgrace of a 2:2 draw
morning
Morning everyone. Not that anyone actually cares about what i think but i need to say it anyway. I WAS WRONG!! Wrong about this team, wrong about it’s tactics, wrong about our players, especially in midfield. Songs performances in recent games have been world class!!! I am sorry for calling you lazy and too laid back. You have been nothing short of incredible for me and i humbly eat my words. Ramsey did what i know he can. Well done!! He is quality who will make things happen and score goals. Sorry Arsene, this team is more than talented and sometimes I lose faith in what you are doing for our club, so thank you for sticking with it. I feel this team gaining momentum quickly. I think this team will deliver one of the following over the next two years. Champions league or premiership. COME ON ARSENAL !!!!!!!!!
Mr B
You could be right, he needs plenty of game time to get him back to full rat power.
Anyway, its 7.35PM here, Hot & Steamy. Have a happy New Year all you Gooners around the world.
Geoff/Pedro
We’re gooooooooona win The League
WELL SAID NUCKS…KEEP THE FAITH MAN!!
Glad that cesc isn’t out for too long.
Nucksie
I’m sort of with you there, but I’m the sort of bloke who, like Geoff, ethan, GMR, etc will question Le Gaffer till the Cup is proudly paraded down to Islington Town Hall.
……..Shit, I’d better get my passport sorted for May 2010
Morning all. It may have been Pompey, but that was a massive 3 points. With next 2 league games at home, the 9 points will ensure at least second.
Reading through comments on here during a game is the best match report. Love it.
Geoff: and I had you down as a man of the world. Marhmallow is mild spice chicken dish, best enjoyed with nine pints of lager.
NEW POST!
yes, i know it’s hard and i have criticised the team and the boss in a big way this year, maybe i am getting too excited but i can see things happening and only over the last three games so i could be wrong. but i am getting that feeling, same as when we won the double!!
