‘You try and find a world-class striker like Robin van Persie, regardless of how much money you have got’

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I didn’t say that, current Chairman Peter Hill-Wood said it, unfuckingbelievable, here we go again, I hope like hell this isn’t the preamble to our manager spending fuck all in the transfer window again.

PHW, here’s a list. Dzeko, Villa, Gervinho, Adriano, Benzema, Luca Toni, Henry, Keisling, Fabiano, Pazzini, Cassano, Ballotteli, Pato, Gignac, Saha and even Chamakh.

He then said that Wenger had said he wasn’t prepared to go out and buy a player who is not better than the ones we have got.

Here’s another list Peter.

Buffon, Akinfeev, Joe Hart, M.Diarra, G.Milito, Chiellini, Sackho, Hangeland, Toulalon, Gourcoff, Hazard, Silva, Yaya, Shawcross and about to be available Craig Bellamy, shall I go on? Or do you see how stupid that statement was. I wish he would stop making these ill timed comments, I really do.

I’ll get onto the match shortly but I have gone from feeling 100% sure Wenger had at last seen the light, to someone with that same feeling of dread that I get every season. Arsene don’t wait until we are out of it before you do something, don’t wait until we lose key players to the ACN or worse, injuries, act now, this week and for once strengthen the squad and at least let us all believe we have a chance of winning something this season.

Don’t just let Hill-Wood trot out the same old drivel, get the players in now that will give us the success we so desperately crave.

Even you saw the difference Arshavin made, you said it yourself he was the reason we qualified for the Champions league.

Now onto today and the villa game, they will be coming looking for three points, make no mistake, they fancy themselves, they did it at Old Trafford and they’ve done it before at the Grove, but in fairness to the minging mancs, they should have won that game 4-1 so if we have our finishing boots on, I have no doubt in my mind that we will stuff them full of our own special brand of Christmas cheer.

They do have some big boys up front, they have pace out wide and they have the determination of footballs ugliest player since Luke Chadwick, James Milner, as I said before, he and Young are the providers, cut them off and we will stop there supply.

I hope the boss doesn’t go 4-5-1 as a result because they aren’t that good, we need to shut them down and chase every ball like our lives depended on it, you know why? Because it does. The chavs slipped up yesterday as did the spuds, so today we just have to win, after this we can have a breather and if he does sign players, then maybe we can push on.

I have a feeling today will be the noisiest game this season, I’ll be there and singing my lungs out, we’ll be in the S&B or outside the Tavern, whichever works at the time. I reckon we’ll be there from 11am as it’s Christmas so if anyone’s around, we’ll see you there, they’ll be a bunch of us.

Enjoy the game wherever you are, let the team know you are there and if you can’t be there, then pray hard, the team will feel it!

My Villa mate read the post yesterday so I’m now into a bet that involves at least 3 clear goals, ha, ha, I have a feeling my money is safe, go on you Reee-eeeds!

    Yes A,

You dont rate him after watching him only 5-6 times.

Yet all of Europe is after him. All the big clubs especially…hence the high price.

I understand what link up play is…which is why you are inlove with Bendy despite his impotence infront of goal.

However as I am stressing you’re opinion is based on extremly limited information and to dismiss the stats and assists all as “flick on’s” is an outrageous assumption at best.

I’ve seen him enough times…and he creates space for himself with his back to goal against the likes of Vidic and Carlos Puyol.

That alone will justify his price tag.

  2. A

I’d really not like him Alex – failed in Spain and Italy, and his confidence is completely gone, not to mention his lack of speed and poor link up play. I wouldn’t want him from our point of view, and from his I think it would be a silly move.

gambon I’d be surprised if Chamakh left Bordeaux now, he seems absolutely adamant it won’t be til the summer, and so do Bordeaux.

I wouldn’t be surprised at Gignac and Matuidi, but nothing would surprise me to be fair!

  3. gazzap

typical of us having to go to Pompey when they actually find some home form. 3 wins out of their last 4 home games. we lose cesc too, and still missing something up front. its a banana skin for certain.

  4. David

    Yea A,

Today’s game against Villa is the best I have seen us play all season…and this is without Van P.

Our ball retention suffered as a result of RVP missing?

    Everton vs Arsenal
    Time of Possession 46% 54%

    Arsenal Portsmouth
    Time of Possession 60% 40%

    Manchester United Arsenal
    Time of Possession 51% 49

    Manchester City Arsenal
    Time of Possession 40% 60%

    Arsenal Wigan Athletic

    Time of Possession 62% 38%

    Arsenal Aston Villa

    Time of Possession 62% 38%

I mean look at the Stats there is absolutely nothing that suggests our ball retention suffers because RVP is out.

  5. gambon

    A,

I think it will be hard for Bordeaux to say no. They will lose him in 5 months for nothing, theyve as good as won the league, and there are some good players in the french league they could sign to replace him.

  6. Alex

He didn’t really fail in spain,

    13 starts
    8 goals.

And Milan haven’t given him a run of games, in a team like ours where we create so many chances i think he would excel, natural finisher. great international record.

Not like we’re creating loads of chances but the problem is that they’re all falling to the central man who’s missing them…

    ========================

Alright so we agree agree then.

We need someone who takes his chances.

  8. GoonerJohn

Guys do you know diego perotti? Great left winger, i rate him very highly and he seems to be the wenger type of player, tough we don’t need him right now :)

  9. Pat

Matuidi seems like the most logical midfielder we may get.

Works hard, physical, and even a playmaker.

Matuidi and a striker and we’re set, imo.

  10. Pat

Sissoko is massively overpriced and not really proven. He’s scored a fair amount of goals so far this season though.

Matuidi will suit our style for sure, but I wouldn’t mind Sissokho

  11. gambon

What does the money matter, surely the quality of player is more important, and Sissoko is much better, younger, and a future great. Matuidi is solid, but no more.

  12. Zorr0

Gambon, I agree, but when you need a CB and a CF as well and the club is tighter than a duck’s chuff, you need to cut your cloth accordingly!

  13. ReVELAtion

good result today.. Even diaby and walcott made decent contributions!!! Stranger things haven’t happened for a while, let me tell you..

Good solid team performance that had a 1-0, 0-0 written all over it until fabregas’ cameo.. Was it worth the injury? Only time and a press release tomorrow morning will tell…

Gignac looks a safe bet to be the striker coming in, but i’d also have a flutter on carlton cole and bellamy..

City will flex their muscles in jan and if they make a move for chiellini (who wants out) we should be on it with big phil all but certain to go to bayern munich… First refusal on ribery or Toni coming the other way? It’s possible…

I’ll stick with my picks of lehko and carlton cole rolling into the emirates before the window closes and no additions at centre half or in goal until the summer..

4 points off the chavs with a game in hand makes for good reading.. I’m suprised at the amount of points we’ve picked up over crimbo to stay within touching distance when 3 weeks ago after the pounding by chelsea we were all but out of it…

    Happy days :)

  14. Maciek

    -Jaskelainen 3m
    - Cetin for 10m
    -Sissoko for 18m
    -Hazard for 11m
-Pandev for free or loan Huntelaar
Sorted and do not say that we do not have money to spend.Even PHW said we have plenty of them.

  15. ReVELAtion

matuidi looked a go er before the start of the season, but now it’s a definant no no, especially after he signed a new contract earlier this season…

  16. Zorr0

Maciek, you been at the vodka??? That is 42 million without wages! As my old mum used to say, “You may as well dream there as in bed!”

    ——————————————————–
I hardly think PHW meant that we have 42m to spend in January + player wages. That list is a pipe dream.

  18. Maciek

Ok, so takne Hazard of and I think wer can make it.We really need a new gk, cd, a cdm and a striker or an offensive midfielder. And we do have every chance to win something this season. We can spend 30 milion in January. Revelation, Jarko Leko? Is he a midfielder?

  19. zeus

A Matuidi type would do. We need to have a stronger spine from GK to CF. That won’t happen this window though. CM is looking a worrysome position now with Song off and Fab4 and Denilson look like being out for a while. Diaby still prone to niggling injuries as well.

Matuidi adds cover in the middle and should Gallas/Verminator get injured just push Song back to CB where he is not the best but capable.
    That just leaves a CF.

  20. A

Alex he did fail in Spain, those goals came in 4 games, he was very very poor for them, scoring braces in routs against terrible teams papers over the cracks stats wise, but isn’t an indication of Huntelaar’s success in Spain, he failed totally.

David our ball retention in the final third has certainly suffered in my eyes. Overall as a team we’ve not failed to keep the ball but we have failed to keep the ball further up the pitch. Losing Bendtner has also contributed to that. Like the first half against Liverpool, where the front three just couldn’t get hold of the ball at all, that’s where VP’s missing was a big loss.

I said it’s NOT like we’re creating just as much as before, but the chances are falling to a central man who’s missing them.

imo someone linking up the play is what’s missing since VP got injured, and that’s what would help the team the most, much more than someone who’s just clinical in front of goal.

Pat I agree – Matuidi and a striker and i’m very happy, unless Senderos goes, in which case we need a defender too

  21. A

zeus i wouldn’t trust goal.com reporting something from the Daily Mail, two of the least trustworthy sources of information!

  22. Pat

Sissoko is a year or 2 younger than Matuidi.

Matuidi is a much better passer and overall, a more intelligent CDM.

Sissoko is more physical, slower, and less mobile. Has 6 goals in 14 games this season though.

  23. Pat

For 25 million, I’d much rather get Hazard and a striker than Dzeko.

Not too keen on Sissoko either. He’s nothing like Vieira to be honest. Sissoko from Juve looks better atm!

  24. Maciek

A, in all resepct to You, we deserve to have much better striker. Why not Dzeko for 25m or Villa for 30 plus Vela? From Wright, Bergy and Henry to Gigniac or Cole?

  25. gambon

    Pat,

Disagree about Sissoko, he’s a monster. Up and down the pitch, can play infront of the back 4 or more attacking. Like a taller essien or sessegnon.

For his age he is mighty impressive.

  26. A

Maciek I’d never let Vela go, and I wouldn’t want Dzeko for the same price as any of those four. Villa would be more money than that, only good for a couple of years, and overpriced. He also wouldn’t give us what we’re lacking centrally, though obviously he’s an absolutely superb player

  27. Pat

Melo or Matuidi, along with one of Gignac, Saha, Adriano, CHamakh

Chamakh is the the obvious candidate in terms of linkup and technique, followed by Adriano.

Absolutely lethal in the air, but not as prolific on the ground = CHamakh

I wouldn’t really mind that though. As long as we’re fluid in the final 3rd, we will score goals.

  28. A

Cole would be amazing for us imo, and he could get over his injury problems, he wouldn’t play every game for us, noone we sign will in the long run, as VP will return eventually.

Gignac’s record is poor, I only include him as the most logical of the rumoured players

  29. A

his record this season anyways, he scored alot of goals last season.

The main issue though isn’t scoring goals, it’s the general play of the player, ability to hold off defenders and link up the play, keep our offence working fluidly

  30. Pat

gambon, what are you on about? Sessegnon hasn’t played a holding role since he began his career with whichever French minnow he started off with.

He is a tricky attacking midfielder now, plays on the wings most of the time!

Sissoko is nothing like him or Essien. Essien has an engine, I can’t say the same about Sissoko

  31. ReVELAtion

yes lehko is a midfielder.. plays for monaco.. Having a great season and not cup tied like cole… Gignac is french so i wouldn’t discount it.. The chamakh deal isn’t happeneing and if something does arise it’ll be a deal seeing him move in the summer.. I expect him (chamcack) to end up at juve on a free..

  32. Pat

Pompey may be without: Kanu, Dindane, Belhadj and 3 other players.

Not sure why you’re scared of them BBK. Possible banana skin, yes, but they are really shit.

  33. Pat

Also, we dominated Villa today without Cesc and we upped the tempo a few minutes before he came on. After the first half I still expected us to win comfortably, with or without him.

  34. A

BBK we’re definitely without Cesc, I reckon we’ll be fine though, we still would’ve won today without him too, the goal was coming.

  35. gambon

Pat, my point is Sissoko can play both in an attacking or defensive, or box to box role.

He is way ahead of Matuidi, the only reason Matuidi should be the preferred option is if we’re on a budget.

  36. B.B.K.

wenger said in his web chat that the player he brings in will be part of the future and not some stop gap,or am i getting the wrong end of the stick

  37. A

I thought we were turning the screw before he came on BBK, Diaby was finding more and more space to drive through into, Nasri was being more direct and taking a bit more responsibility, we were just stretching them more. I reckon we still would’ve gotten a goal, and then probably a second as they came at us, it just would’ve been someone else legging it through the middle on the break!

  38. Pat

Not at all bambon.Sissoko is vastly overpriced just as the “brilliant” melo was before when we wanted him.

Matuidi is more suited to our team. Sissoko lacks intelligence, and as a CDM in a top team, you need that. Matuidi is much, much better going forward than Sissoko. He’s a playmaker and would add another dimension. Physically, Sissoko obviously has the advantage, but Matuidi suits us more.

I thought Flamini was brilliant in his last season and I rate Matuidi much higher than him.

  39. A

oh ok BBK – No Wenger said IF someone is cup tied, then he’d still consider bringing someone in IF they were good enough to be part of the future.

To me all that says is that he won’t bring in someone temporarily who’s cup tied

  40. goonermichael

    BBK
Did you think we’d beat Villa? You said we’d draw which I thougt was positive as I thought we may lose. Getting a draw against Villa is more difficult than beating pompey.

  41. Pat

BBK, Villa were supposed to destroy us through the middle today with Fabregas on the bench, according to the pessimists.

Villa were never in it really. I was surprised how easily we controlled everything

  42. Pat

Thats where you’re wrong Gambon. Hleb was, and still is, one of the finest playmakers around in the game.

Don’t use stats. People who don’t watch the game use stats.

Matuidi plays in a very negative team. They’re awful. But, he should be judged by his defensive capabilities, which are far more impressive than what Sissoko has shown so far this season.

  43. A

Pat people who are involved in the game also use stats extensively!

Stats are never meaningless, but people can interpret stats incorrectly or think that they tell the whole story, which they most certainly don’t.

  44. B.B.K.

who had flash backs of last season when gabby was through on goal after doing gallas, gallas did well to recover though

  45. A

yeah bbk, that was poor from gallas originally, then a great recovery.

Watching agbonlahor makes me feel like we had a genius in ade, gabby’s ability to look completely clueless, and get offside in the most ridiculous ways is something to behold

YESSSSSSSSSS up your cunt you villa slags, what a fucking win

    Nice one BBK

  47. Pat

True A. I don’t like them though. I rather see the player and if I like him, I want him, regardless of goals, assists, etc.

If someone is an asset/improvement to the team, I want him.

I was one of the few who kept quiet about vermaelen, simply because I was clueless about him. I don’t watch dutch league and I never complained that he wqs short. I’ve seen amazing, world class CBs that were short.

  48. B.B.K.

lollllllll m.g and i will say it again YESSSSSSSSSS up your cunt you villa slags, what a fucking win, twas a cracking win today…

  49. A

why do you say that bbk?! don’t hate him at all, just find his stupidity on the football pitch amusing! He’s done incredibly well to make a good premiership career with his total lack of any sort of footballing brain.

He’s like a cartoon character, always looks confused, and his interviews are hilarious. I wonder if he was born with a furrowed brow

  50. A

you mean the fact that they fouled non stop but never got bookings gm? Dunne’s thuggishness, Petrov not getting booked was a joke too

  51. Pat

I thought the ref was really, really fair and good.

A, for what Petrov and Dunne did, Song kept fouling, constantly, when they were on the counter!

I was very impressed with the ref. Dunne and Petrov weren’t thugs today. Little kicks for the most part and I like the game to flow.

  52. A

Song got booked Pat, for Dunne and Petrov not to get booked it was an absolutely ridiculous.

Villa very cynically systematically fouled us, just as they did last year, and just as with last year they got away with it nearly the entire time, but thankfully our class just shone through this year.

They only had one booking for fouling, yet fouled us over 20 times today, incredible that teams can get away with dirty tactics like that

  53. AA23

B.B.K you are having a laugh mate, we would have beaten Villa today without Cesc and we will beat Pompey.
But I’m glad you dont predict any more wins for us, the only time I ever remember you doing it was burnley…
    keep on non believing

  54. A

Dunne committed so many offences he should’ve been booked for, should’ve been sent off imo for the challenge on Almunia in the first half where he really through his left forearm into him! Then gave away so many fouls, a couple of cynical ones up the pitch, and threw the ball away twice. There’s just something about certain British players that they’re allowed to get away with absolutely anything.

  55. Pat

A, Song was booked for diving and he could have been sent off too. Ref was fair, imo.

They committed 20 fouls and we committed 15. I thought Villa were dirty 2 seasons ago. Don’t really remember last season to be honest. I know the game was dull, we controlled it, until that CLichy OG.

  56. A

And Petrov is worse than Mascherano, just at the ref EVERY decision, complaining when things are given against Villa, and whenever fouls are given for them, feigning injury if it was him fouled, or rabbitting on and on and on at the ref to try and get him to book the player. Incredible that he gets away with it too, but his being captain of Villa seems to give him free reign to act however unsportingly he wants!

  57. A

Oh yeah of course, forgot Song was booked for diving.

Last season they just fouled us every time we crossed the halfway line, it was ridiculous. Sidwell and Barry in particular were amazing how many fouls they gave away.

  58. A

To be fair Song should have been sent off, and the ref was fair in that he let people get away with fouling, but it’s just the case that Villa fouled more than us, apart from Song

  59. Pat

20 to 15 is pretty close. As long as there is no intent to hurt, I’m fine with it. We’re skilled enough to beat those type of teams anyway =D

  60. gnarleygeorge9

    Geoff

Well done on cleaning up on your Villa mate, 3 clear goals.

Great performance by the team, although I’ve gotta say that the weak link was Eduardo.

Does anyone have word on how Cesc is, please?

  61. gnarleygeorge9

Oh, & although it was a great win,a great tactical win as well, Le Gaffer would do well to top up, starting in 3 days. The Title is there for the taking, it all depends on how much the powers that be want to leave no stone unturned to actually take The Title.

N.B Le Gaffer, in May it will be better to be heralding a strong Title winning campaign, that included a January top up, than whinging about what might have been, if it wasn’t for injuries, etc. Its your call mon ami. Don’t phuck it up

  62. ethangunner

    fab !

    FAB-ulous :)

    FAB game .. !
we were at home , good noise ..
it took cesc’s best game of the season to give us his 1st captains win imo !

today for me he has become CAPTAIN !
he follows the Arsenal modern greats that can turn a game like TA – PV – TH and DB10 on odd occasions.
Well done cesc yesterday you looked like that star who partnered flamini and hleb ..

man shitty – man U – the chev’s and even the spuds for rivalry factor are the teams to beat with liverpool the dark horse …
i think villa’s back is broken now..
    (lets hope)

i think liverpool will fair better once the ACN
is underway , do they lose anyone ?

how ever good a display yesterday was, we looked flat as shit with denilson at the helm ..

it shows you how bare the cupboard is , and im not even going to comment on PHW !

fucking tight wad , old baboon that he is ..

AA and cesc looked like the spark that won us the game in the 2nd half …

its important to note how AA23′s game lifted when cesc came on !

but until cesc came on it was flat and a bit scary dare i say .

that’s what quality on the pitch gives you ..
so enough BULLSHIT about cant find better , because there clearly is …

SO BUY SOME CLASS YOU TIGHT FISTED ASS !

  63. A

That’s unforgivable, a Spud profiting off an Arsenal win whilst the gooner loses out. Still, guess nowt wrong with taking pity on the needy….

I was worried about today, thought it’d be tight, what a result though, although we’re a point behind Chelsea still after our game in hand, by my reckoning we’re now in the driving seat with the way the fixtures have worked out thus far. Chelsea are the only big team we’ve got left to go away to, gotten rid of the toughies early, just gotta get some consistency with the smaller teams and the title is ours for the taking!

  64. AA23

I really thought that if we beat Villa today we would crack on and win the title.
its going to be a rough ride but I know we will be there at the end. That Chelsea game couldn’t have come at a worse time for us. I dont think the result would be the same now. We will beat them at the bridge, mark my words on that.

  65. iceman

    Oh what a game!!

    What a performance!!

    Ethan

Agree…he now can be looked at in the same breath as the elite group you mentioned and can be looked to to turn a game.

We can’t rely on him alone though…

    Wenger needs to shop asap!

  66. Geoff

Morning all, Gnarley gets the award for being the only one to give me credit for rightly predicting three clear goals, which of course meant 3 nil, but I’m not allowed to predict anymore!

Wrighty kind of gave me the credit… And at half time my Villa mate asked me if I wanted to double the £10 bet we had, ha, ha, ha!

I had a few beers with Dennis and Franchise last night and enjoyable it was, thanks guys and nice meeting you Dennis, you’re a top man!

  67. Geoff

I can see everyone is still sleeping after celebrating our win, I’m the opposite, I can’t sleep after we win because I’m so excited and want to read all the papers!

  68. nishanth

Who do you reckon we should sign?I don’t think wenger will sign more than 2 players.A backup CB is a must. And looks like wenger will buy a striker

  69. Geoff

Matuidi or Sissoko and Chamakh. He won’t spend out on Dzeko, who would be my choice.

Ideal world a proper keeper and a centre back s well.

  70. nishanth

Looks like senderos will leave for sure.No way we can depend on someone like silvestre.Unless wenger thinks djourou will come back in march and fit in straightaway which is a big risk.

  71. iceman

Your guess is as good as mine…

It could be someone we had no clue about…or someone we keep banging on about all the time…

With Wenger you know it’ll be the former…

  72. SUGA3

if Rosicky gets an extension other than pay as you play, it will mean Wenger is nuts…

it would be interesting to see how man games he would play if that was the case…

fuck me, he is a great player and a lovable fella, but he just can’t be seen as one to make up the numbers on the paper…

  73. nishanth

Also nasri has to step up his game.Needs to take more responsibilty. He has scored 2 goals after coming back and apart from that hasn’t had much of an impact.Don’t remember him creating many chances either. He is capable of much more

  74. khalle

    Geoff,

The first thing I thought off yesterday as Diaby put in the third was your bet….
    How funny.
It reminded me of a bet I had with my friend that Brazil and Ivory Coast and either Portugal/France would make one group.

    Anyway.
The performance of Diaby frightened me yesterday. the guy was immense, powerfull and I have not a player doing that since PV4.

  75. SUGA3

    iceman,

to be fair, Pires suffered from fatigue and picked up a 6 month injury (knee, I think) straight after the transfer to Villareal, but what Rosicky does is just laughable: he played about 18 months out of three and a half years he’s been here, am I right?

sheer class, but not reliable enough for a top 4 team, PAYP is the only option as far as I am concerned, otherwise it is just throwing money down the shitter…

  76. nishanth

It will interesting how we lineup if denilson and cesc are unavailable against portsmouth.Nasri might finally get to play in the middle

  77. SUGA3

I reckon out of all the legends that have been sold, Bobby is the one that could stay and do the job right until now ;)

    iceman,

I feel ya – Bobby should have stayed and do what these 2 do at Manure or Raul at RM: club legends, binding ‘old’ and ‘new’ fans, great players, able to make impact…

hated the way Bobby was treated, especially that now we are giving 2 year contracts to Manure rejects (although he turned out to be a great pro)…

I am so excited I woke up early this morning as well.

Odd that I had this idea that we could sell Clichy next summer for £20 and keep Traore and Gibbs.

Come on Cesc being fit will be worth a few extra points for us.

    Goonerman,

absolutely not! Gael is one with the potential to get amongst the legends, a true Mr Arsenal, the last of the Invincibles (although he did not play that much)…

what is this madness? we don’t need to sell, we need to buy to mount a serious challenge…

Clichy has some serious competetion though.Traore and gibbs have done really well. Both traore and gibbs are better than clichy going forward.Wish we produced some keepers and DM’s the way we produce LB’s

    SUGA3/Goonerman

I would prefer to loan Gibbs to another team for a year and keep Clichy and Traore to fight for a place.

It is highly unlikely that you need 3 world class leftbacks in the same year. Clichy has always been fit since 2006 and I don’t see any of Traore/Gibbs being happy 3rd choice.

Traore accepted it and said that he would grab the chance should it present itself.

Now it has and he is strong and much better header of the ball than the other two, faster and stronger as well..

Traore is getting better each game. I see its been reported that Jack Wilshire is thinking about a loan spell @ West Ham, or is that tabloid bull crap again?

  83. SUGA3

    gnarley,

LJW needs a loan – he is unlikely to get enough game time at Arse and at the moment he needs to get reasonable amount of games at a mid table side to keep developing ;)

Burnley or WHU would be ‘just the job’…

  84. iceman

    Gnarley…

    At Burnely apparently mate.

    Suga3…

Yes, he was a fan favourite too. Oh well. Let’s hope Almunia gets some of that treatment soon ;)

  85. Goonerman

Correct, we won’t be able to keep 3 left-backs while we need to buy a striker, centre half. AW tries to balance books or even make a profit.

Clichy is world class but Traore is a very young super athlete who will have a massive future.

Arsene “Le Gaffer” Wenger is optimistic that the hamstring injury suffered by match-winner Cesc Fabregas is not serious

“It’s a recurrence of his hamstring. We knew before the game it was not perfect,” Wenger told Sky Sports . “We will see if we have long regrets or short regrets. I don’t believe it’s too bad, he doesn’t think it’s too bad. If it’s a pull again it’s three weeks (out) so we hope it is only a scar”.
