Andre is saying what we are all feeling, well done son!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So Ar, Ar, Arshavin, Arsenal’s greatest love machine, says that when he came here, he expected playing for a top team would mean easy games, but says playing the Burnley’s of this world are as tough as playing the Mancs, he said you get no time on the ball.

He also said that Arsenal have had so many chances to close the gap and have not taken them, against Villa we need to do it and I have to agree.

We need to beat Villa to close the gap, or keep the gap the same, but we also need to dent their title hopes and send out a message, the top four is an exclusive club and until the chavs lose Abramovich, they will have to wait.

A Villa mate of mine is going today with his young son, he thinks his son will start supporting the Arsenal after this game as he doesn’t have a team yet, and he’s making noises, win this one Arsene, and you’ll win us a new fan!

So tomorrow is almost upon us, the inconvenience of Santa’s birthday has now gone and we can once again think about football and the Arsenal, which to be honest is always what we were thinking about in between mouthfuls of Turkey, mince pies and copious amounts of alcohol.

My daughter bought me a fantastic personalised history of Arsenal for Christmas, it shows newspapers through the history of our great club and it has my name embossed in foil blocking on the cover, top present. My boys bought me a match day scarf and a top razor.

And my wife bought me a pair of UGG’s (boots) and yes I will be wearing them for the game tomorrow. We will be meeting in the S&B or the Ché and will be letting you all know which during the course of today, for those of you who are up for a pre-match Peroni.

It’s our Christmas do so we’ll be eating drinking and merrying, so let’s hope the boys trash the boys from the black stuff. Cesc is back, Song makes a farewell performance and he’ll want to impress if the Melo stories are to be believed, I have no opinion, I’ve only seen him once, but I’m sure this will be the last time we see this small forward line appear this season at home.

I really think we are going to send out a message tomorrow, I think we’ll get a Christmas present from the boys to warm our hearts and lift our title aspirations, tomorrow I think we’ll see the Arsenal that we had hoped we’d see last year and the year before, tomorrow is destiny day, tomorrow is the start of the back nine.

I won’t predict the score as I know some of you get nervy when I do, however, I think we’ll score 3 more than they do.

Have a fun filled boxing day Grovers, tomorrow the fun begins!

    Good Post Geoff

Just Cannot wait for the game 2morrow..

hopefully,if chavs drop points,we can play less nervy…

difficult to think that players wont be feeling the affect of chelshit match…

but i hope we concentrate on ur game, and stuff villa at emirates

these villa buggers have not lost at emirates, and would love a victory over them this time around, inshallah

  2. SUGA3

good read Geoff – no boxing gloves to use today under the tree then

    COME ON:

    - Brum
    - Fulham (heh, especially them)
    - Stoke
    - Wolves

    !!!

  3. bozint

    Morning!

Hope it works out mate, 3 goals more than Villa and not conceding would be perfect! AA23 is right and I hope he shows on the pitch the class he has been recently.

    @Sabeel
If not today then they will be in not so distant future (the chavs)! I’d like to see their attack without Drogba and Anelka.

  4. stonroy

My wife got me an Arsenal dog leash (for her, he-he) a new Arsenal Mug a great photo of Dennis Ian, Thierry and Rocky. And believe it or not she got me Arsenal shoe bags for when I travel, fancy that one.

  5. Goonerman

My wife bought me: Arsenal – Extroadinary Images of an Amazing Club. Wonderful full of hidden away pictures. I’ll try to get it autographed.

  6. reggie57

I only thought women where UGGS ?Oh well it takes all types….Good post again looks like AW is gonna keep his wallet firmly in his sky rocket once again…
    tut,tut….

If Arsène Wenger could change just one of football’s laws, he would scrap throw-ins and replace them with kick-ins.

The Arsenal manager believes that some teams can gain an unfair advantage when the ball goes out of play because certain players are able to gain much greater distance on their throw-ins than others.

“For example at Stoke, for Rory Delap it is like kicking the ball,” said the Frenchman.

“It is a little bit of an unfair advantage. He is using a strength that is usually not a strength in football.

“So [the rule I would change would be] maybe to play throw-ins by foot. Why not? I think it would make the game quicker.”

And Wenger believes there is no reason why the change couldn’t work. After all, it wouldn’t be the most radical modification to the game’s laws.

“Football is the most popular team game in the world and one day some crazy guy said ‘we don’t use the hands’,” explained the manager.

“How could you have imagined on that day a game that is completely natural to play with your hands would become the most popular sport?”

  8. SUGA3

    good for them ;)

nice to know that most people just enjoy their football…

here’s to Villa getting stuffed tomorrow :)

*raises the glass, felling ‘X-massy and all’*

  9. SUGA3

well, it’s not about outlawing certain advantages, is it?

application of strength and ball direction can be trained and it ain’t no rocket science, is it not something for a coach to do?

  10. Geoff

Reggie, I’ve never seen them before, they are sheepskin lined though so I supposed I shouldn’t be surprised they com from Oz.

  11. BozinT

Sabeel, I meant the Drog going to the African Cup of Nations for a month or so (depends on how they progress). Anelka out injured and they got Sturridge and someone else. No Essien, nor Kalou. They still got good team, but they had almost the full team so far this season.

  12. BozinT

Can someone help me if I should drop Drogba for my fantasy team. He’s been pretty awesome thus far (in terms of point return).

  13. Jack118

I got that same present…the book of all the Arsenal history, made up of old newspaper spreads, also with my name on the front.

  14. Old bird

Great positive post to gee us all up for tomorrow. Can’t wait…

Anyone feeling suitably post Christmas wonderful to let me know if have a ticket to spare will gain a reward paid in peronis – plus ticket price obv.

Have great day cheering on the ghastly brummies whilst hoping one of them gets his leg(s) deservedly mangled by Cashley ( which earns him a ban till after world cup as a bonus!) A pleasant thought.

  15. Canonier

    Morning

Don’t know about u guys but my head is banging!
I think we will have too much in the locker for the villians…and if things do start going pear shaped we can set the Nasri on them!
As long as Song keeps Milner and Petrov quiet and I’m sure Cesc will play (Wenger mind games anyone) then arshavin and diaby will win the day.

Karim Benzema anyone? It’s been a while since Wenger’s pulled one out of that magic hat.

    Enjoy your day Grovers.

ps good blog Geoff but questionable dress sense mate…man uggs????

  16. Kristo

That would be damn nice mate, 3 more goals than Villa, clean sheet & AA23 for the hattrick. Put the nerves right up the Chelpish!!

    COME ON THE MIGHTY GUNNERS!!!

  17. ritesh

Benzema is down in Reunion Island, close to Mauritius for the moment.

He spends his time in clubs and even managed to have an accident with his lamborghini. Not Arsenal style this, + he would not come cheap, so I do not see us signing him.

I feel that with the depth we have, this season is going to be ours.

  18. simon mcmahon

hope all you guys/girls had a great day yesterday, now another present we all want three points tommorow, c’mom you gunners !!
geoff top gifts apart from the man ugg’s!!!!!!!!!

  19. ritesh

I dont have the worry about choosing uggs here… Temperature id 30 degrees today, sea is warm, and party on beach is on every night till 3rd Jan.

But the fun would be greater if we put a few past Villa tomorrow

  20. oj

great stuff! …just warmed my heart reading it. God I love arsenal, too bad i cant say that abt my gf, things arent rly working out (maybe the fact shes a chelski fan aint helping matters too) bt hopefully de new year will be better (i have a date with a goonerish gal later 2day nd i’ve got a very gd feeling abt it, same feeling am having for the villa game. Go gooners!

  21. ritesh

I hail from the Paradise island of Mauritius. No need to swap, BR, come on down here, the more the merrier they say.

All PL matches live on TV (with pro-arsenal commentary) Most support Manure or Pools here. But I am Arsenal as I used to support Monaco while AW was there…. I followed him to England.

  22. vinnyjones

nice work mate, when the russian speaks i listen and hopefully the rest of the lads and the boss does too. just got back form the local derby here in australia(goldcoast, queensland) we won 5-1 and am hoping my english team complete the xmas double for me. come on lads i dont want to see o`neill celebrating on our pitch. this will be a tough match but i believe we can take it.

  23. goonermichael

    Merry Chrisrtmas everyone
Are you seriously going to wear uggs?
I got one of those arsenal History books for my 50th I love it.

  24. Stu

UGG boots? I fecking hate them things. Women wearing them is bad enough. Dont do it Geoff…you will be laughed at forever..

Arsenal wise all i got was the third jersey (the white one). Honestly i didnt even want it but was gratefule even so.

Never got on yesterday…too busy getting smashed beyond recognition so a belated thank you to Geoff, Pedro and all Grovers that make this place such a pleasure to blog on every day.

  25. Tallyho

    Santa’s birthday. LOL

With Jolly Saint Nick being a long time Gooner (He wears Red and White), I expect a win on Sunday!

  26. Bernard Baines

Santa didn’t bring me tics for the game tomorrow :( If there are 2 tickets going spare I’d love to know, but can’t spend more than 50 each I’m afraid. . .

  27. Gunners The Stunners

I got a great Xmas present from my Secret Santa @ job last week. It was an Arsenal 2010 calendar. It just made my Xmas extra special… :)

  28. Samir

Arshavin prefers the early kick offs in England unlike in Russia and the reason has something to do with his stomach.

“In England it’s the opposite, the earlier the better. If the game starts at 4 or 5 pm I get hungry” he said!

  29. ritesh

He’s good… But this Chelsea team does not look like Champion. + players to go for ACN, we are more than capable of getting more points.

  30. ritesh

Yep, a goal disallowed for supposedly offside.. But Drogba was down in the area and covered the strikers.

Could argue that action should not have continued BUT Drogba picked himself up and jogged out of the pitch as if nothing had happened after the goal was ruled out.

    So, it was cheating!

  31. Honest Bill

    There’s a surprise. Drogba cheating… who’d have thought it?

And Chelski getting away with cheating? that’s a new one isn’t it?

  32. ritesh

The referee is biased as usual. A couple of goal scoring offside decisions went against Birmingham.

But they can cheat as much as they want… I don’t see Chavs winning the league this year

  33. Geoff

Read my posts all season, I’ve been calling for Joe Hart since the under 21′s, I think he should be England’s no.1, he commands from the back.

Boy what a chance mow to close the gap, it’s in their hands now that’s for sure.

  34. gambon

Anyone else feel like shit today??!!??

More dropped points guys, we HAVE to win tomorrow!!!!!

A bit worried about PHWs comments, we have loads of kerching but Wenger doesnt want to spend it! We have such a great opportunity to win something, a couple of high profile signings could give us just the boost we need!

  35. KM

    Hi Guyz

big chance for us to get within touching distance to Chelsea. The league is there for the taking this year – if we add 2/3 players to the squad imo. ManU look to be in transition/skint/defensive problems. L’pool are playing catch-up. Chelsea are going through an unexpected phase of losses/draws.

We need to beat Aston Villa who at present are looking like the biggest threat to the top4 this season. Villa are fast and furious….so we need to contain them bigtime.

  36. Kushagra India

I think after Seaman Joe Hart is the answer he has all the attributes by d way Chelsea r producing stinkers I think they will buy we need to do the same
In ACN vouching for GHANA VS IVORY COAST in the final!!

  37. finestcuts

Woohoo, Chelsea drew which means that if we beat the Villans we’ll make up some lost ground. The onus is on us to get three points tomorrow……..massive game once again.

  38. Gooner4life

Hey Gooners… V’v been calling 4 a new song @ Emirates 4 some time now..

a fellow Gooner hv cmup with a good song (its free)

    http://www.redarmysong.com/index.html

Just got up, massive headache, to learn that Chelsea dropped more points. They will really struggle in January.

As for us, lets hope that the added pressure of having to capitalize on Chelsea’s misfortune don’t make us ‘play with the handbrake’ and drop points too.

  40. KM in WALES

the game 2moro is going to be hell of a test.Villa have a lot of speed merchants and are very physical in their approach and have Milner, Ablogono-whore,Dunne on form so are a side to watch out for it. Imo an ideal scenario would be to score 1st early on and keep possession and score the 2nd before half time.

  41. reggie57

I cant believe we are worrying about villa they are a long ball team that we are gonna beat 2 zip tomorrow just wait and see!!!!!!!!

  42. Mayank

Yeah Reg ’cause we can handle long balls so well… Villa are a tough team in good form. I think we’ll do pretty well to beat ‘em.

btw has there ever been a team as devoid of ideas as Chelsea?

  43. Zorr0

    Evening all!

Gonna be tough tomorrow, they are solid and reliable, especially in midfield, young will give Sagna a hard time and Carew is a lump with knobs on. We will need to play well, no slip ups!

  44. charybdis1966

¿ Beunos tardes, any update on Cesc´s availability yet, that is in addition to Wenger´s “50-50″ estimate ?

  45. charybdis1966

Liverpool are playing this lot Stu:
    25 Reina
    02 Johnson
    05 Agger
    12 Aurelio
    22 Insua
    23 Carragher
    04 Aquilani
    08 Gerrard
    15 Benayoun
    21 Lucas
    09 Torres

    Nil-nil at half time

  46. charybdis1966

And that Sheister McCarthy has bothered to play his first 11 this time; clearly he reckons his chances against the ´Dippers. How the mighty are fallen.
Good results in the Chav and Spud games.

  47. Roy

I thought ugg boots were for ladies and that Christmas was baby jesus’s birthday!
Too much brandy sauce for you I think!!
As for the game, I predict a 1-1 draw.

  48. AA23

You have to love Chelsea right now, they could have run away with the title over the last few weeks and they have been dropping points like a mother.
I have a lot of time for that.

  49. ardentgooner

Arsenalllllllll …………..I’m happy today will go absolutely beserk if we win tomorrow…CMON ARSENALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  50. patthegooner

    Right come on Arsenal,

Win Tomorrow and we are right in it.

And come on Arsene, we have loads of cash to spend. Lets Spend it and win this fucking Title.

  51. Samir

    Franchise;
You might want to contact Christian on 07771 714 077.
He had an ad on AWIMB that he has 2 spare for Villa Block C close to Red Action.
    £37.50 each.

Don’t know if he still has them but worth a try :)

  52. Stevie

I have watched Arsenal play Villa on TV with my father law (blue nose – brummie) three times now, drew each one. He will be here just before kick off tomorrow

  53. Stevie

pleass Santa. if you have any pressies left in your sack, A tall (over 6ft) striker we have whos name we know and a Def Mid (happy to take one called Paddy)

  54. gnarleygeorge9

So, its all set up for an Arsenal Title. I bloody hope The Club don’t blow it.

As I write December 27th 2010, The Title is Arsenals to win or lose. Its your call Le Gaffer.

  55. A

He might make it in the premiership in the next few years 78692, but I’d be surprised if he’s ever good enough to play for a top team, and certainly nowhere near good enough currently.

Zorr0 allegedly the person who was allegeded to have visited the massage parlour by wikipedia was an ex chelsea managing director and manager now at a coastal town.

  56. ethangunner

anyone got any info on rosicky’s return ?
    or RVP ?

are they really both out the rest of the season ?

    fuck if so ..
    hit the road jack ……….

  57. A

Rosicky is meant to be back in full training, but definitely not fully fit for villa, and he might not make pompey, but fit after that. Bendy meant to be back training too but couple weeks from actually playing

  58. Metal Gear

A why do u say Rosicky may be fit 4 training as if that’s a good thing 4 Arsenal he’ll get injured again as he always does no wonder we have an injury crisis every single season when you’ve got players who’ve never completed a full season such as Rosicky. V.Persie and Diaby
