Songs Swansong and Cesc Fabulous will see us over the line.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

First of all, massive credit for the clever play on words. You won’t but I will, I am occasionally narcissic and patting myself on the back for a positive headline is acceptable.

So I’m thinking the Villa game will be Song’s last at the Grove before he jets off to Africa, add that to Cesc’s return against a team that we haven’t beaten for a long while and that spells an emphatic win in a 6 pointer that’s long overdue.

Villa are a tall team so our defence will need to be at it’s best to keep them out, but last season Barry orchestrated them and he’s not around this time, we have to shackle Milner and Young as those two are the providers, so stop them and we cut off their supply.

I think this game will be about pace, Dunne who I rate is not the fastest and I think if we used Vela or Theo to get past them, we can hit them on the break.

This is also the last game for the strike force to show Wenger he doesn’t need to spend big, however, I think he will, not on a massive name, but one that will add to our team, and that’s why I think it will be Dzeko. If he offered £5mil for Numbchucks they would bite his hand off, but something went off there and it went off in French, so I don’t think he’ll be joining, I would have either though.

One thing is for sure is I believe he has already done a deal and someone will be in early doors, so maybe by the next home game we’ll have someone new to cheer on.

Don’t forget tomorrow is Christmas, we will post but it won’t be busy, I hope you’ve all put 3 players on your Christmas list and if you haven’t been naughty, you may just get your wish.

Have a great day Grovers and stay out of trouble!

I love this site for its honest opinions and I am able to nod my head saying “thats true” or “thats exactly what I think” more than once or twice when I read every post.

I salute Geoff and Pedro for not being mirrors to the Arsenal website and giving out their own thoughts , which is exactly how it should be , but it is not the case in most places.

One of my top 3 reads every day.

    Thanks guys and Merry Christmas.

Goran pandev-very much a one footed player…most of our strikers are left dominant, would prefer someone taller and ambidexterous..we have seen vela and eduardo are poor with the right foot and its take van persie a few attempts before getting his chocolate leg shot right…

    Hello grovers!

I want to thank Geoff and Pedro for running the site, and I am simply amazed at how they manage to post every single day at 10.00 AM (CET)! Credit to you guys and the readers for making this a unique Arsenal spot.

Merry Christmas to all of you, I hope you are having a good time with the people you love. And, opposed to Geoff, I hope Santa grants your wishes even if you’ve been a little naughty ;) !

    Cheers!

“We could have signed Essien, we could have signed Makelele but it didn’t work.” Wenger said.

“There are many in fact. We were close to signing Ronaldo before Man. United. So you have already a few big names together there. “

Oh Arsene, if we had have signed a couple of those, we could have won something in the last 5 years

How long has the blog been going for now Geoff?

Credit to the two of you for keeping it going. I know you do it for love of Arsenal and get no financial reward, so well done and here is to another year of great debate, and Banter.

A Merry Christmas to all of you Grovers and I thank you for keeping me entertained in good times and bad.

And a special Merry Christmas to all those serving out in Afghanistan this Christmas (Even those who support Spurs). It is pretty cold and miserable out there at the moment and you are all doing a fantastic job. I hope the Christmas dinner in the DFAC is not too rubbery and that you all return safe from your tours in the New Year.

    What I want for Christmas;

    Dear Santa,

Scrooge McWengerneeds to deliver this year and I would like 4 players, one GK, one CB, one DM and a big tall striker.

Could I please have Akinfeev (6’2″ and 23) who is cup tied and available or if Scrooge McWenger wants a cheaper option Jensen (6’1″ and 33) from Burnley until one of the Poles is deemed ready.

Could I please have a big tall defender, any one of these available options would do… …Metzelder (6’5″ and 29), Cahill (6’2″ and 24), Hangeland 6’5″ and 28)or Mexes (6’2″ and 27)all should be available for the right fee they have bags of experience and are tall. Naldo (6’6″ and 25) would be excellent but is cup tied, while Alves (6’2″ and 28) would be perfect as then Porto would loose their Captain and most influential player!

I could not find a DM who I would like and isn’t cup tied as I fear you didn’t like Cana in the first place and if you could have had him for 3mil you wont for 13! schmuck. So any of M. Diarra (6′ and 28), Flamini (5’10″ and 25) or A. Diarra (6’3″ and 28) none are really available but why not bring back the man who knows how to win while we loose Song? Paddy?

As for up front Dzeko (6’4″ and 23)or his partner in crime Grafite (6’3″ and 30) would fit in nicely as would Van Nistelrooy (6’3″ and 33) or Huntelaar (6’1″ and 26). If you want a free powerfull striker why not go for Cole (6’3″ and 28) or Jones (6’2″ and 25) or if all else fails bring back Thierry who at 6’2″ can at least reach a cross.

Come on you reds and Happy Christmas to you all!

ok 1st time poster here but a great blog which i got bookmarked incase i dont see the latest post in the newsnow feed lol.

anyway a couple of points 1st isnt Chamakh morroccan? so wont he be playing in the african cup? so if thats the case (correct me if i am wrong) then i dont see wenger buying him in january because straight away he will be gone for a month and could come back injured…i dont think its worth it for a guy who has six months left on his contract.

2nd point i think they messed up money wise with senderos. a guy they knew they didnt want and wouldnt play they could of sold for 3 mill to everton? but wanted more money so it fell through. now he could go to bayern or athletico for 1.1- 1.3 mill. now minus his wages that he has been payed since his loan ended with milan and all they will will get is 5-6 hundred when they could of got 3 mill in the summer.

also i think knowing wenger i got a feeling that he is gonna sign none of the strikers mentioned except maybe for that gignac fella and we are all gonna feel dissapointed when the new siging anounced….if one does come.

i also think we need 2 CB’s because i think gallas will be off in the summer and i hope silvestre is too. so come summer we could actually be down to 1 regular 1st team CB because there is no garantee djourou will come back to full fitness and be good enough to retain a 1st team place.

and we really need to go out and get a quality keeper because almunia is just one of the most least inspiring and nervous looking keepers i have seen. and fabianski i think is a little too young and has that rush of blood moment in him that could cost us. we talked to but didnt make the deal happen with given why i dont know but it shows that wenger knows we need someone better (though he wont admint it publicly) also jussi jaaskelainen was in his last six months of his contract and could talk to anyone but re-signed with bolton…. again why we didnt go for him i dont know because like given he is one of those keepers that has games where he just looks like he just wont be beat and you can see the oppo strikers thinking ”wtf have i got to do to score”

  17. raynor73

BBK, sorry I couldn’t replt to you earlier but I? had a family meal today. My reply is jeez, you really are pessimistic. I don’t think I’ll reply to your reply as I’m not really supposed to surround myself with ‘the glass is half empty’s’.

I’ll remain positive. We are a whisker away from the top half way through, so with a slight improvement and Chavski and Manure fluffing more often (which they have both shown they are capable of) we CAN win this. We aren’t going to win everygame BBK and a draw at Burnley wasn’t that bad considering the scalps they’ve had. In fact we should have won it (and this is the bit we need to improve on).

You carry on seeing things your way, its your life, your opinion, your happiness and contentment…

Cmon you Gooners, just a bit more heave and a bit more ho, and we can challenge this year….

  18. Evo in Oz

Merry Xmas to one and all! Prawns peeled here and the first beer about to be cracked! 3 points a must in each of the next 3 league games!

  21. patthegooner

And Merry Christmas to the players of Birmingham (Apart from Taylor), Fulham, Stoke and Hull…..Actually scrub Hull, but stay off the booze today and take some points off our rivals in the coming days please.
