The time for stubborn thinking is over / How is Nasri getting a ban?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So here we are again, for the second weekend running, rubbing our hands together after watching our nearest and dearest drop crucial points in unexpected fashion. Before I get into the what Santa provided us, I’d like to talk about Nasri.

Firstly, regardless of how stupid his stamp was, I’m glad he did it. For too long we’ve had a team of ‘butter wouldn’t melt’ teenagers in our squad and we’ve had zero edge on the pitch when it comes to fear factor. That little stamp caused a 22 man brawl and we more than stood our ground. I’m hoping that injected a little bit of belief into our squad that we don’t have to be top of the fair play league, and a bit of filth can give you an edge in a game.

I’m not quite sure how Nasri is facing a ban, I thought if the ref booked a player, he was immune from further punishment. However, this is Arsenal, I should have known better!

Onto our festive weekend…

I was sure that Manchester United were capable of maybe losing two points at Fulham, but all three? No way! They were emphatically beaten by the West Londoners who showed more heart and desire all over the park. Watching Scholes hit the tipping point of old age as he was dispossessed by Danny Murphy was a truly marvelous moment in part one of the ‘Collapse of the contenders’.

I don’t really feel I can include Liverpool in my dream weekend. They’re so far off the pace and have such a poor side at the moment, it really feels pointless putting text down about their loss at Pompey. However, watching Mascharano pick up a red after a disgusting challenge was funny, watching him hobble off injured at the same time was even funnier. The most enjoyable part of that game was listening to spoilt, under pressure Rafa bitch in the interview after. You can’t moan about not being supported by your board, then spunk 37mill on a centre midfielder who has managed 60 games in 3 seasons and a right back who has only ever been average at best. Ok, so I spoke a lot on that result, that can be part 2.

Part 3 of my weekend of job was watching the Chelsea match. I can categorically tell you that I didn’t believe for a second West Ham would even get a sniff today. Their form has been nothing short of diabolical of late, they didn’t have Carlton Cole in attack and they have been leaking goals for fun. How wrong was I? West Ham played fantastically well, carved out most of the chances and were only denied all three points because of a dodgy penalty decision by a very erratic referee.

So, if we win that bastard game in hand, we’ll move into second and we’ll only be two points off Chelsea. What a turn around.

Now, this is where the coach needs to be clever. We are where we are because of other teams dropping stupid points as well as us. Not because we’ve made some amazing improvement. We’ve never conceded so many goals in the opening games of the season and I don’t think we’ve ever been where we are on such a low points total.

Now is the time for the coach to go out and make that relevant signing. He now has the best opportunity since 2007 to go out there and make a real impact on the league. He doesn’t have a target man whose making an impact and lets be honest, it’s a lot to ask to expect Bendtner to come back and make that leap… he’s hardly been electric in front of goal thus far. Plus, whose to say he can maintain fitness anyway?

We’ve got a testing few weeks when a number of our players will be leaving the squad… lets not chuck away the season because the coach wants to prove a point about how right he was… because one thing I can guarantee, someone is going to kick on after Christmas… with the right signings, that can be us!

Show us that you really want to challenge for the league this year Arsene. A lot of teams are up shit creek with their finances and we know that you’ve still got a monster bounty tucked away in the Arsenal piggy bank. There’s no use saying there are no players available, beacause I’ve no doubt Mancini will find some. It doesn’t matter if they’re cup tied, if they’re top players, they’re not going to be league tied… that’s the trophy that matters, anything else is a bonus. Go out and do what you do best, purchase some proven talent and deliver the Gooner faithful some silverware!

See you in the comments Grovers!

P.S. Anyone read about Hughes paying 250k of his own money to purchase Bellamy? Sounds like a load of rubbish to me… Still, more believable than John Terry taking cash in brown paper bags so he could give it to a kids Charity…

A footballers are not planks Our formation is not as fluid as you make it. How many games have u seen Nasri going through the middle. All teams interchange positions from time to time especially on the counter. Footballers are not that thick that they cannot adapt. As as for the winger thing, if our forwards our wingers then they are very poor ones I must say.

  2. A

There wasn’t a period of games Sabeel, there was Sunderland and Chelsea, and I don’t know if he would have made a difference in either of them…. We’ve scored in every game since then, and in my eyes not felt the injury to VP as much as I thought we would.

  3. Franchise

Arshavin is the only wide player we have that constantly makes stuff happen from his wide positions. 99% of our other moves ends with a sagna cross

i can hardly remember rosicky eduardo nasri etc consistently stretching their opponets

  4. A

Franchise Nasri has been through the middle at times, he was against Hull for a bit! He swapped flanks all game though, with Eduardo and Arshavin switching with each other. Dzeko is completely incapable of playing wide or deep in our system, which totally rules him out for me, even if he’s a good finisher and good in the air.

  5. Keyser

David – You make it so very difficult to understand, it might be a co-incidence, it might not and I seriously doubt you’d be able to tell one way or the other.

So upset at having so many players injured you want us to start signing injured players to start with ? Villa have got fuck all injuries and they’ve won a few games, suddenly it’s all down to Downing, did he at least score any of the goals in the league or set them up ?!

At least Diarra’s proven at a high level, Downings been pretty shit for years.

  6. Franchise

for every game we shape 433 the interpretation depends on the individuals

NAsri for instance likes drifting into midfield or holds his spot wide without neccessarily giving us with

  7. gambon

    Choy,

I agree Dzeko (Or a big name striker) shouldnt be a priority, but it’d be nice.

Another CM, a back up CB & a first choice GK are all required.

  8. Franchise

its all bollox IMO the closest we’ve ever come to wiinning the league in recent times was with a CF playing very centrally. as usual A u try to over complicate things.

  9. A

I agree Franchise, the shape does differ depending on the individuals, but there is a massive amount of fluidity and interchange, and all the players have to be capable of handing that.

We decided that Ade was surplus to requirements largely imo because he was incapable of playing that system, we couldn’t switch with people, only play through the centre, and I don’t believe we’ll sign someone else who can only play through the middle.

  10. gambon

    A,

I really dont think youve seen enough of him. He is very good at linking up, albeit from a central position. He also has a vastly better first touch than Nik has or Ade had.

  11. David

    A

Dzeko doesnt need to play out wide…we have too many pretender players who think they can play outwide.

And im not so sure about your dropping deep to recieve the ball something RVP used to do but didnt need to or he did out of the fact that he wasnt getting the ball or he had to draw defenders out of position

Fact is…those things are minor details that any 3 year old can learn

  12. 78692

    Hello Grovers

Elia on the right wing, and Walcott (if he gets his fingers out of his arse) would be amazing.

    Anyone agree/disagree?

  13. Sabeel Indian Gunner

    A,

    Sunderland,chelsea

as u said we never scored

    stoke,liverpool,burnley…

all these games,we scored yes,but majority of time,it was just possession in midfield,NO penetration

gone are the days when we score frequently from slick passing…

its either a individual brilliant strike in stoke, pool by arshavin
    denilson in hull game

seriously A, dont u see the lack the penetration in our game, becos of so much slackiness up front

  14. BigRaddy

I like Nasri & think he will be a huge player for us. Just where he fits into the system when everyone is fit (as if) is difficult to assess.

For that matter, I cannot put down a first team if all are fit.

  15. Franchise

Our biggest critique anyway is that we are too predictable in the final 3rd of the pitch. we have too many creative players at times with out any direct goal threat

thats why we keep struggling against real good organized sides

dzeko is even more than his goals. he is full of assists as well

  16. choy

78692 I don’t think we play with wingers at all…

So Elia who is nice winger will probably feel more at home with Manc’s

  17. David

    Keyser

The only player we had injured the start of the season to my Knowledge was Rosicky. Not sure about Djrouru but by all accounts we had our strongest starting XI by the time season started evidence by our 6-1 win in the opening game.

By my reckoning if we got M.Diarra he would be well and fit to go right now much in the same fashion Downing is contributing at Villa

  18. Keyser

Adebayor couldn’t learn it, it’s harder than people think, we pick on these players far too quick.

If Nasri’s out wide he needs someone in the middle or dropping deep from up front to play the ball to him out wide, we’ve been unlucky that once Van Persie learn’t his role and we started playing well, he got injured, we’ve tried to work it again with Arshavin and then Fabregas got injured.

There has to be some sort of consistency through the team, Adebayor thrived when he had Van Persie, Rosicky and Hleb providing the fluidity and the creation, he struggled once he was left on his own to make it happen.

Dzeko might have it, but it’s s still a risk, he just doesn’t seem athletic enough.

  19. BigRaddy

But Dzeko doesn’t play against teams that “park the bus”.

    We do very week.

It is all academic as he is too expensive. We may as well talk about Messi coming. Or Benzema.

  20. A

gambon I’ve only seen him play 4-5 times, but that’s just the impression I’ve got, could’ve just been off his game. Speed is also an issue for me.

David our cf has to play wide, so if we signed dzeko he’d have to. Without that fluidity the whole system falls apart and loses it’s effectiveness. They aren’t minor things that a three year old can learn either.

Sabeel against Stoke we tore through them with ease, Burnley in the first 20 mins likewise…. We just didn’t convert the chances, but that happened with VP in the team too. Sunderland was right after the international break, and we’re always sluggish then, again could’ve been exactly the same with VP, and big games are always like that too, VP wouldn’t have made much difference against Chelsea in terms of penetration or slick passing.

  21. gambon

78692, moses of palace you mean?

I wouldnt be so sure we wont look at Dzeko.

I remember Boro Primorac saying we were looking at him, And Mike Phelan said he was aware all big clubs were scouting him.

So are we a big club or not? We sold our target man for £25m, so would it be that outrageous to buy one for similar?

Sabeel i swear that i wrote my previous comment without reading yours. Great minds eh U r spot on

    Franchise,dont lie man ;)

just kidding,we r definitely on the same wavelength, but i feel “A” is purely going by the point that we have scored goals..

    am i right?

  23. Keyser

David – You were talking about the patience of waiting for players to come good, how many are we giving patience to right now ?!

Rosicky, Eduardo, Nasri was injured, Vela, Walcott, Diaby and so on, Diarr’a proven, not in this league, 28 and had a long term knee injury, Downing’s got experience but pretty much done fuck all with it.

  24. Franchise

So far Eduardo, Vela, Walcott have all struggled to play this mythical interchanging system u keep crowing about when they have been the focal point of the front 3.

The main highlight of the new system is the extra personel we have in midfield. it is meant to make us conceded lesser goals but it has not exactly worked out that way

Our main philosophy still remains pass and move on wheteher we play 442 451 460 433. last year most of our moves ended up with a sagna cross not much has changed this year.

we still crab against very well organised defensively set up teams.

  25. Keyser

David – He couldn’t leanr what Van Persie does now or what we want Dzeko to do, he might have with time, but he’s taking a lot of time to learn it by the looked of it.

  26. gambon

    A,

I wouldnt be so sure about our CF needing to play wide, not in a 1 upfront system.

RVP said recentley that the reason for his vast improvement was that he cut out all the dropping off & going wide, and concentrated on being a centre forward.

I think we need other players more urgently, but i would be shocked if Wenger wasnt looking at the situiation fairly seriously.

  27. David

    Yea Keyser

Im not talking bout coming good..im talking bout coming fit.

Diarra doesnt need to come good cuz he’s class.

Ive seen him play for madrid for the past 2 seasons and he’s a brick wall…

Nothing gets past him Air and Ground.

I think it wouldnt have been all Barca if he didnt get injured and theyd have had to rely on Dolphin face.

So no…coming good is not the same thing as getting fit.

  28. Keyser

Franchise – It’s because they’ve had soo little games together, how many were questioning Van Persie’s role at the start of the season, how many later on realised how influential he was becoming, it takes games.

Vela’s had about 3, Walcotts had about the same. Even then you need to have a regular team around them to learn efficiently we haven’t been that lucky yet.

  29. David

We never played a 4-3-3 when Ade was in the team.

I dont buy arguements that Ade couldnt link up.

He had more assists than Nikki B playing less games.

So its one of those…”you wont be able to tell one way or another”

Because Ade never played in the 4-3-3.

4-5-1, 4-4-2…and the small fact that we typically never really have any Arsenal red shirts in the box….

  30. Keyser

David – It still doesn’t really matter it’s still another risk, how many are we persevereing with now ? and you want to bring another player in thats not played in the league is getting on and has just had a long term injury ?!

Diarra’s got more experience, Downing’s played in the league for years, both are risks, even bigger when you consider the players we’re showing patience with now.

  31. Franchise

it takes games???? that is why we are crying for better players

their inability to adapt in some of the games they would struggle in might cost us points that might cost us championships

  32. David

    Downing cost 12million

    Diarra costs 5million.

Football is all about Risks, I understand what your saying with all the injustices we’ve had with injuries…but World Class players for that price are worth it in a position we appear to be weak in at-times.

  33. Mayank

Ade played on the last defender, basically on the offside line. If in out system we put him there that would bring Fab into the hole and we’ve seen that he’s not good there. Can you honestly say Ade would spray passes from deep like RvP?

  34. Keyser

David – He was learning, and last year started to give assists, but it was painfull and slow, how many times did we play the ball to him to feet and the ball would bounce off about 2 metres away ? Milan at home he could’ve slipped Eduardo in, Birmingham away he should’ve passed to Bendtner.

He learn’t but was taking his time around it, whats the point of getting another player in hoping he fits, when we’re already trying to get these lot to fit together, anyway he’s moved on now and I seriously doubt he’s going to find the consistency around him to improve even further.

  35. Franchise

Good point David. If i remember some of Ade’s link up play at his tme with us I laugh when A says he couldnt link up play. IMO the best football we have played in recent years was in 07/08. the midfield gelled better and the forwards also did

    Great Point Gambon

I believe it was Cesc who came out and Said we would need a more “direct” player.

  37. Keyser

Franchise – You’re crying out for guarantee’s, there are no guarantees, if you look at Dzeko and think, he’s scored X amount of goals in the Bundesliga, what guarantee is there that he’ll do the same for us, it’s why we watch players over months not single games, and at 25 million it’s makes it as bigger risk.

The answers you’re looking for you’ve already written in your previous posts.

  38. gambon

If he could pass a thorough medical i would take Mirko Vucinic in a heartbeat.

Good striker, and could also do the whole interchange thing. Plus he wont be cup tied in europe!

  39. Keyser

Franchise – Honestly I know you like Adebayor, but he was the last stop on route to goal in the season before last, he started trying to be a better link player last year.

  40. David

    Mayank

I could be wrong but I dont think Ade ever played deep in the whole.

No one is arguing that VP is a better footballer than Ade…ofcoarse he is.

But having said that we need players who can specialize in doing a certain job not a jack of all trades imo.

After VP,bendy injury, we HAVE completely LOST penetration,in the games compared to,when they were fit, earlier in the season,AND most times WE JUST DONT LOOK LIKE SCORING,our attacks have become toothless, when compared to games earlier in the season, when VP,bendy were fit.

Could u Please answer in Yes or No only,

    David,Franchise

Also to note that wenger himself tried to get Melo, and told now he wants a striker…

ofcourse he says he wants to buy a World class quality one,but that still doesnt hide the fact that Wenger himself is looking to buy 2 players at the very least…in the journey of this season`s transfer business

  43. MnM

Nobody knows who Wenger really wanted in the summer. Melo would have been a pointless signing in my opinion, and the swap with Eboue made the story redundant. Garbage first to last.

  44. Sabeel Indian Gunner

    MnM

irrespective of melo story or not,my point is wenger gas given enough comments this whole seasons transfer business, that he plans to buy players, maybe 2 max..

now either he is lying or he is serious abt it …is the decision that his psyche doesnt give…he is so smart in choice of his words…

wenger is surely a master of psychology, his comments are just fantastic when i read them, and i get to realise how perfectly he uses the words to make them believe what he wants them to…he is one of true geniouses of this world..

  45. MnM

What amtters is what he does, not what he says. If he signs somebody then he feels we need a player, if not, well, thats the end of it.

  46. patthegooner

Been hearing a lot of Man Shitty fans slagging off Kolo on the Radio today. They reckon he has been a complete failure and by far the worst signing.

I feel for the guy, they have turned on him pretty quickly. I know we got the best out of the deal, but you could never question his effort, and I can’t believe he cant regain the form that made him a firm fav at Arsenal.

Hope you can find your feet Kolo, even if it means moving on again in Jan.

  47. chris

Cesc wouldn’t be asking fotr a big CF if RvP and NB were fit and the team was scoring.
Arshavin is a long way off his A game for me and could ptrovide that cutting edge on his own,
BUT if you look at the goals scored with RvP out there’s too much reliance on Cesc – I love the guy and considering how in and out he’s been he’s got amazing stats (a bit like AA but even more so).
Eduardo is the obvious goalscorer to step up but even his goal on Saturday was horribly close to missing – if he gets two or three in the next two or three games we might be ok – but results in the V8illa games are massive.
Personally I’d still buy a CB if there’s a good one available – Wenger may be right about there being no money around but that could also mean bargains or at leastt opportunities somewhere.
If WHam fold maybe 1 or 2 of Upson, Cole, Noble, Parker (though Wenger would probably pick up one of the kids instead I guess) if M Diarra is £5m ish and can pass a fitness test, if someone else is on the verge of collapse (tho I’m not sure about Pompey and I wouldn’t touch Scott Loach or anyone else at Watford)

  48. Mr B

No ur english is fine, but from the typos’s, I judge that u are a bit emotional at the moment. Happens to me aswell, when I get a bit excited.

  49. MnM

Were doing ok without van Persie. And when Bendtner comes back to the wing Arshavin will have someone to link up with up front.

  50. Pat

Regarding Dzeko, didn’t Wenger say they’re asking for too much “AT THE MOMENT”?

He said Arshavin was too pricey as well. We know how that ended up.

Despite our win against Stoke, Liverpool, and Hull with Arsha as the CF, its obvious that we rely too much on perfect teamwork to score. We need a true goalscorer.

We’re not exactly fluid up front and we’ve been struggling in the first half of all those games to create chances.

  51. Mr B

I think the next Chavski game against us is gonna be alot tighter. I think vermmi and willi will be a bit smarter next time.

  52. MnM

Vermaelen and Gallas dominated Drogba last time round. A bit of good movement and a poorly defended cross painted a totally unfair picture.

  53. Pat

How the fuck does Gerrard get into the FIFpro team of the year? Bullshit.

    Casillas
    Alves Terry Vidic Evra
    Xavi Gerrard Iniesta
    Messi Torres CR

  54. Pat

I thought they kept Drogba quiet, but he just needed a chance and he took it.

I won’t praise him for his free kick as it was horrible. Almunia should be given credit for that.

  55. ray in SF

i thought cole’s crosses were excellent, caused all sorts of problems even if Drogba hadn’t been there

the sort of crosses that should be our trademark given the average height of our front six

  56. Mr B

I had been constantly discussing things here, for(idiomatic)a few hours(taken as singular), Hence the typos. But I am glad THAT(Idiomatic) I could be of help. Can (tence error, I will be performing the action in present or future) u please indentify the TYPOS(type of error hence mistakes is redundant)in this post.

    :) :) ;)

LOL no offence but I just finished the chapter and it is still running through my mind.

  57. David

Verma and Gallas keep Drogba quiet?

Despite the fact that he had free headers all day everyday against our defence?

Despite the fact that he shoved the likes of Traore and Song aside like flies?

I dont like Drogba..and i cant stand Chelsea but come now….

    Lets give credit…

  58. Mr B

The point is he scored 2 goals, now thats not keeping quite by any strech of the imagination.

keeping a clean sheet thats called keeping quite. It doesnt matter if he scores from a single lapse of concentration on our part or 10 chances. With a forward the calibre of drogba, u dont need to give a chance, u just have to give him a sniff. Even worse he may make something out of nothing, like against pool a couple of years ago.

  59. Mr B

    Im off grovers.

Sorry that I post a lot less (its good for rankings if nothing else @ Geoff and Pedro) and when I do Im argumentative but im studing for a few exams and am frustrated with my lack of prep and sometimes take it off on here.

So peace and luv and keep gooning till we goon them down.

  60. Pat

David, what the hell do Song and Traore have to do with Gallas and Verm keeping him quiet?

He didn’t win many headers actually, not sure which game you watched.

The ones he did win were awful because of great defending and being physical. Drogba always wins headers against Vidic, but they’re never a threat because Vidic makes it tough for him.

Really, you don’t understand defending, do you? Its not possible to constantly win headers against someone who is taller than you. Its how you put them off that matters.

  61. ManGoonian

Pat;The sheer unashamed mypoia of the media and the obliging FA is a sick joke…

Where is the mass hysteria over Fagan’sd ridiculous cheating and diving??? Where is the

You are bang on there old bean…

As for this bollocking media witch hunt against nasri…. Its effin pathetic. Where is the mass hysteria over Fagan’s cheating and diving?

Where is the constant replays and questions in the house of commons over the Brummie player Carr’s blatant handball???

Or the dive by Warnock that meant a Stoke goal was disallowed??? (Alan Curbishley just said on ESPN that it was very clever play by Warnock! There you have it, cheating is very clever play, so should not in any way be frowned upon ever ever ever…. UNLESS of course, it is carried out by a foreigner!!!)

  62. Gary

Two years we missed out on the league by injuries to Eddu & Rosikcy that year RVP also missed a number of games. This year our squad is more experienced,we also have Arshavin Nasri & Vermaelin,Gallas is having his best season Song also,we have Bendtner Rosicky Clichy to come back shortly,so when they play it will be like new signings as they will be fired up.Lots of people are on Walcott’s back but give the BOY a break he has been under enormous pressure to succeed,i did’nt hear many people moaning when he scored a hatrick 4 England,he’s, played virtually no football this season.I believe this squad is strong enough to win things this season, because lots of teams will lose games this year, only 2 games have we been outplayed the Chavs & Citeh so keep the faith guys and many of you will be eating your words at the end, as you have since th Chav’s result(our season’s over as many qouted).Come on you Gunners…..

  63. Cobravich

Arshavin coming in last Jan is proof enough in itself that bringing in proven quality, even at a price, is value in itself. He boosted a quite directionless season that at least kept the aura of a team still able to put a run together and so remain at least a team to be considered to be in contention this season. We have hung on
with the A&E spilling over, lets get a couple off pros in that have the same belief as Arshavin, Cesc, RVP. These are the ones that can be the difference between saving and winning points, Arshavin has done as much in a short time.Lets spend
on another one or two and leave the rest of the prem behind.

  64. ManGoonian

I am sure that some how, even though he was booked, the ref will say it was for some other, imaginary infringement and therefore Nasri will be allowed to get a 3 game ban, while Barmby, Garcia and Fagan get nuffin whatsoever… Bollocks!

  65. Pedro

Someone from Skipton keeps calling me and Geoff wankers…

    Please stop, it’s cutting deep…

… this isn’t what blogging is all about… the abuse has to stop!

All I ever wanted to do was create place for like minded gooners to blog… now I’m being called a wanker every day… oh the pain… oh the sleepless nights…!

  66. ManGoonian

    Gary;

I wouldnt even say we were outplayed by City (in the league game) We shot ourselves in the foot…. When we equalised we were the only team gonna go onto win, yet fucked it right up!

But, I agree with all that mate…

No point getting into that debate with you Pat.

You ALWAYS see what you want to see.

Sometimes you sound so daft its quite funny!

Free header in minute 4:55 before the actual goal another free header in the 6:48 mark

Also the fact that Drogba bounced Traore and Song off made him free to have a shot on goal and put a tasty cross in the box.

    He didnt win many headers.

Thats right…i wasnt arguing that. I said he had free headers.

How having free headers means that he won many headers is beyond me.

People having difficulty with English today.

Infact Drogba with a bunch of free headers…

About 2 just before another free shot that eventually was the goal…

    Extended highlights.

One thing to see what you want to see its another thing to try to insult someone else cuz you’re in a world of delusional!

Can’t wait for the big day…. surrounded by loved ones…. watchin the kids, playing…. a few beers…. a song or 2… And then heading home after the final whistle happy in the knowledge we’ve stuffed the Villans!

  70. Man

Hughes sacked cos the trajectory of results suggests that they might not reach 70 points at the end of the season…
    P17 Pts 29 Ave 1.71
    Should be
    P38 Pts 38 Ave 1.84
…small margins small margins but with his £3M pay off and his reputation intact I don’t think he’ll be too worried heh

    Franchy;

Ha! Thanks bro… We are doing really well, ta…

I’ve been using the festive period to work my way thru the lovely ladies at work, before I leave for pastures new…

Yep, its strangely liberating getting blanked and slapped in the face by women who you know, in a few weeks, you wont see ever again!

well i dont think this same team of young softies of last few seasons they have most defently tougherthey cant be bullied they have bit of tastyness i glass nasri did what he did but would better if put stuck studs in ligament when he was on floor i know that bad mind but i dont care i cant stand hull and which they got relegated last season. song and delinson have improved no end and i dont think there two many dm players better than them there is only 2-3.they had better be up for it on sunday villa will come with alot of cornern and crosses and pretty good in defence,we have around 4-5 home games so a great chance bild up some points

Chamakh – I’m not leaving Bordeaux until the summer

The long time Arsenal target Marouane Chamakh was expected to be sold by Bordeaux in January so that the club could get a transfer fee for the Moroccan striker, but he has now said that he is definitely going to stay in France until the summer.

It was thought that Arsene Wenger would make another pitch for Chamakh in January, as Arsenal are desperate for a top class striker to replace the injured Robin Van Persie, but Wenger will now have to cross him off the list.

Chamakh said: “I am certain to finish the season with Bordeaux. I will be free at the end of the season but I don’t want to see my name bandied around in January.”

It has also been reported today that Everton and Juventus are also interested in signing him

    Leon;

Yep, I agree. The team are better, stronger and less likely to get bullied easily…. I am pretty sick and tired of lazy assed hacks wittering on about how the team is too light weight, yadda yadda… We are in need of striking power, due to injuries, but thats it…

Just as when Phil Thompson said we werent part of the top 4 any more, these hacks and pundits are simply sticking to their guns and refusing to accept the team has come on, one iota…

    Latersssssss

  75. choy

aha .. so how long before he is sacked again?

the summer? or will he survive the season?

I think ancelotti’s the next to go!

  76. Gooby

yep, i think benitez can’t be fire for money issues. he has a huge clause in his contract probably.

He knew what he did when he brought the useless Glenn Johnson and others. so he can keep the job ;)

    bunch of loosers(pool)

  77. Pedro

Am I going crazy… or did Myles Palmer recommend an N-Dubz song in his post?

    I’m tired… I’m imagining things… I’m going to bed!

  78. leon

man they still need to defend a little better but i think thats down to fact we have tough striker that can defend from as edwardo needs to get confedence back up

  80. Samir

    Lol at Bill.
    Gd one.

And A. Apparently Barca are watching him.
He’s only 19 and looking very good so far.

Would prefer Hazard though if I had the pick:)

  81. A

He’s “only 19″ – that’s one year younger than Theo, who’s being written off, and he’s also probably missed in total a whole season of his development through injury!

Regarding Moses I’ve seen him a fair bit and not seen anything special about him, he’s really on form at the moment in the Championship, and scored some nice goals in the last couple of weeks, but he isn’t that great, although I thought similarly of Ashley Young a while back! Still Young isn’t good enough for us imo but certainly worth the money Villa paid.

Moses though wouldn’t be ready to play for a top team for a good while yet, if he becomes a player who could make it at a big club, he’ll be a late developer.

Hazard on the other hand is meant to be one of the best kids in the world, wouldn’t mind him if the reviews are true! Not ever seen him play though so can’t say.

  82. Jaguar

Still Young isn’t good enough for us imo but certainly worth the money Villa paid.

    _——————————————————

Ashley young, has given better service to Villa than Mr.Walcott has given us.

  83. A

He has indeed Jaguar, as you’d expect him to being 4 years older, though I expect Theo to really blossom in the system we’re playing now, once he gets his confidence back. Just as Villa’s system has been built to really suit Young as perfectly as a system could, our 4-3-3 should really give Theo a chance to show us what he’s got

  84. Honest Bill

I have a player called Moses in FIFA10. If it’s the same bloke then i can 100% guarantee that Moses will definitely score at least 60 goals per season and never get injured for more than a week at a time.

    “And Moses parts the defence”
