Cesc is missing but fear not, Denilson steps in. Worst PLAYER results are in!

Denilson?

So now it’s official, Cesc is out for the Hull game, but not to worry, Denilson steps in, so we could have a midfield of Diaby, Denilson and Song or even Eboue, Denilson and Song, or wait for it, the ultimate fantasy Denilson, Eboue, Song with Diaby in the hole.

It may be the stuff that my nightmares are made of but it has to be Wenger’s ultimate fantasy team, fortunately though it’s only Hull, and although they did beat us once at home we have stuffed them each time we’ve played them since, so I’m not too worried.

This also seems to be the bosses season for having a whine up and his latest outburst makes no sense, how can he have a go at Wolves for fielding a reserve side when he did the same thing in Greece which gave Standard Leige no chance of qualifying, what’s the difference? Hypocrisy springs to mind, large.

I’m with Tony Pulis on this one, and Pulis also said why would you not expect to play twice a week if you were a young athlete, I agree with him, anyone remember double headers? When you would have to play 90 minutes after 90 minutes because of fixture congestion? …I do.

Anyway, Hull are a shadow of the team that beat us, so I really don’t see much of a problem tomorrow, maybe this is the time to unleash Theo and Vela up front and play Arshavin in the hole, for me the way to beat teams like Hull is to play around them, pass them off the pitch.

What is apparent, is we do miss our big forwards and as we have Robin gone for a season, and who knows how he’ll return and how long it would take, then we really ought to go out and spend at least what we got for Ade.

I had about 4 tons of snow when I trudged to work this morning but London was clear, anyway Grovers I’m tied up most of the day in meetings, so be good to each other!

Today we find out who we play in the next round of the Champions league, let’s hope it’s one of the easier teams left, if in fact there are any easier teams left.

We need to win all of our Christmas period games to keep pace with the leaders but beating Villa is more important now than ever, because the chasing pack are stronger and more numerous than ever before.

So we need to make sure we make use of the January transfer window, I have a feeling we’ll raid the big clubs surplus players, like the Madrid’s of this world.

Remember, tomorrow you’ll see why Wenger has so much faith in this side, tomorrow we’ll bury Hull and get our season back on track, come on the Arsenal!

Finally… for  a bit of a Friday laugh, see the results of the UK Golden bins.

We had the largest return on a vote EVER at Le Grove, so I suspect plenty of people forwarded the post onto their mates… and below are the results… there were only 10 votes between the top two… and the favoured ‘other’ was Kolo Toure.

Fran nice one at least someone brought his shirt,na second thoughts they probably nicked it :)

AA23 What you talking about i wanted to know why no deeper reason so wind your kneck in.

Sharkey confirmed you are petty

  2. Pat

Porto will be tougher than most of you think. They play good football.

Look at United-Porto. United struggled in both legs and tied 2-2 at OT. A CR wonder strike got them through 3-2 on agg.

They will be tough, very tough in fact

  3. Geoff

Evening all! What a great picture Pedro, looks just like Denilson.

I can’t believe everyone’s comments on Porto, we can’t even beat West ham, Sunderland or Burnley for fucks sake, anyone thought of that?

  4. A

Geoff we get to play them at home and away, and apart from Chelsea we’ve thrashed everyone at home! If we just had to play them away, as the above games you’ve mentioned, then it would be a worry!

Noone is saying Porto will be a walk in the park, but out of the teams in the draw they’re one of the weakest

  5. Pat

Don’t know about that A. I consider Milan weaker atm.

Chelsea won both games against Porto 1-0. Porto deserved at least a point from both games!

It will be very tough, make no mistake about it. I wanted to avoid them and Inter.

  6. goonermichael

Martin O’neill has abcked Wengers criticism of the fixture list. I wonder if he’ll get slated as a whinger. Don’t think so somehow. CUNTS

  7. A

I certainly don’t Pat! Don’t forget we beat Porto 4-0 at the Emirates last season, and this season we’re stronger at home than we were then. It’ll be very tough away, but at the Emirates we should give them a bit of a beating

  8. Pat

A, RVP and Ade had great games that day. Neither will play this time!

That was last season. Falcao is a very good player and we were linked with him once. Hulk, Bruno Alves, and the the 2 wingers.

    I hope you’re right though

  9. goonermichael

“There is one important point here and that is that Mick McCarthy will do whatever he thinks is best for Wolves,” said Stoke boss Tony Pulis as he rushes to the defence of his fellow non-foreign manager during an interview in which he rather cryptically claimed that Arsene Wenger is “moaning like a drain”.

Absolutely Tony. But what’s this? You haven’t finished…

“No disrespect to Wenger or any foreign manager but I don’t think there is anything wrong with asking professional athletes to perform twice in three or four days.”

Except when they’re Wolves players…or does he not class the likes of Karl Henry and Jody Craddock as ‘professional athletes’?

Mediawatch also enjoyed Pulis’ lumping-together of the moaning Wenger with all other foreign managers. Because we never see Mark Hughes, ‘Arry or Big Sam moaning, do we? Oh no…

    Quite funny really. Wanker

  10. A

Yeah Pat, but Bendtner is better than Ade and he’ll be back, and Arshavin can do what VP did, and overall at home we’re a much better team! I wouldn’t expect 4-0 necessarilly, but we should be able to win by a couple of goals certainly. Away will be very tough though

  11. Jaguar

2-0 to the Arsenal.Tomorrow,A will be coming up with his usual excuses of how Hull were trying to park ten men behind the ball and such stuff.

  12. A

huh Jaguar? When do I ever say that that’s an excuse?! Why would we need an excuse if we won 2-0, most people would be happy with that. All teams try and park the bus or put ten men behind the ball (nice merging of the two there) but imo if we don’t score at least 3 goals in games like this then we’ve done poorly.

  13. David

    Bendtner better than Ade?

    Hmmm.

Wonder why we didnt see that when we played Shitty.

Infact. Wonder why we havent seen that at all.

  14. A

Yeah Pat, he won’t score as many goals, but the team scores more goals without Ade than with him, with Bendtner in the team, and just in general without Ade! Arshavin in the knockout stages too could be very useful, just one moment of magic from him so significant

  15. jules

Just read wengers comments today , we are so proud of our financial situation . ” we don,t make one pound and then spend two ”

Maybe thats why we have won fuck all for five years .

but hey . good bank balance , now thats why I go to the emirites .

  16. 78692

    Hello Grovers

Jules, Wenger gets paid £5 Million a year to make Arsenal FC money, not to win trophies.

We are a business, not a football club.

  17. Gooby

it’s good not to be bankrupt, but we fans , need to feel the passion of winning the title.
money. it is all about money, fuck money

  18. Samir

    Ribery says;

‘I would like to win the Champions League, but our team probably does not have the quality. Right now, we cannot compete with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Arsenal or Inter Milan.’

‘Money plays no role in my considerations. I have a very good living, earning good money.’

    Go on Wenger!

  19. Samir

Speaking about the renewed headlines surrounding his future, Chamakh told France Football:

“I am sure I will finish the current campaign at Bordeaux. It’s perfectly clear. I will be free at the end of the season.

“I don’t want my name to be rumoured everywhere from 1st to 31st of January. I don’t want to experience again what I endured.

“(I don’t want) people to ask ‘do you want to leave?’ or ‘do you want to move?’. My answer is no.”

Arsene Wenger has also ruled out a move for Wolfsburg star Edin Dzeko and made clear that the Gunners, despite needing more forwards, would only spend in January if a suitably talented individual is available at a good price.

  20. Sabeel Indian Gunner

    People dont be so surprised…..

Under the new policy of wenger and arsenal FC company,it is okay to NOT win trophies,as long as Arsenal FC “company” makes money …

No owner of Arsenal FC “company” has got the desire to put some of his own money to help the club, else they wont make profit..

Arsenal FC “company” is all about making money,

Under them,no matter we win No trophy,But we should not lose even a couple of 10 million, even if that couple of 10 million would make the club into title winners…

  21. David

    huh?

Better footballer..rofl…the team scores more goals when Bendtner plays.

Again…I wonder why that didnt happn when we played shitty.

Wonder why Bentdner didnt bag on his multiple assists that we’ve been raving on and on about.

    08/09 Season

    Ade – 6 assists.

    Bendy – 4 assists.

    Another famous myth busted.

Despite pink boots trousers/pants down crash my Aston Martin so i can buy a new one while changing my jersey and refunding people their money back to show i have money c8nt…played more minutes and in more competitions than any of our forwards.

  22. Pat

David, Hleb was a better assister than both of them but got less assists. Think about that.

Its bloody obvious we score more when Bendtner plays.Once he got injured, we stopped scoring shed loads of goals.

Look at Ade’s performances for City. Enough said, just by looking at that really.

  23. BigRaddy

When I am in a mellow state of mind, I am willing to discuss Nik with David.

We know eah others opinions. Though sadly, David has yet to realsie that I am right.

We have looked better this season with Nik in the team.

Nik has been influential in taking Denmark to the WC, remarkable for such a young and inexperienced player.

Ade is a few years older than Nik, let us compare like with like. Though David has trawled the net in an attempt to prove to Pedro that Ade had a better record at the same age – which was spurious as they played in different leagues.

Nik is going to be a fine player. He has good control, a great eye for a pass and can shoot. He is good in the air, and IMO brings other players into the game.

It is unfortunate that he has been injured, and I look forward to his return.

  24. BigRaddy

    Not true Mr. B.

His “lady friend” is aristocracy through marriage (now divorced). She is just rich, not royalty.

Though fairplay to him if he does manage to have carnal knowledge of the Danish Royal Family ….. apart from those that have married into the family, they are total dogs.

Check out the Danish Queen. A moose if ever I have seen one

  25. leon

the way i see it ade has alot of ability but he not stand a chance playing someone like fergi because he is not team player tevez and belemy work there socks off and so does right philips but ade just walks around the pitch, the reason why i like bretna is because of his work rate he is a trouble maker he just needs to work on his finishing but at 21 he can improve on that he has good vision and can evon play on wing a bit if needed he is very powerful and right now this team realy misses him.this does not need a someone like ade

  26. gnarleygeorge9

Its going to be an absolute ripper of a day weather wise, so on days like today I really do feel like a fair weather Arsenal fan

  27. leon

david i feel its not about how much ability you have its what you contribute to the team and although i know ade is better striker bretna i feel nbretna gives more to team he works harder and willing put in a shift for the team and when it comes nitty gritty thats whats needed from each and every single player and ade will rearly do that

  28. Maksud

    HEllo!

Great draw, although playing @porto isn’t exactly easy. So i was wondering is there any specific the quarters are set up? Or is it another draw of the winners?

  29. A

well the daily mail is generally only read by very stupid and/or hate filled people Maksud!

That is a good article pat, though wouldn’t say “some excellent articles”! That was relatively interesting and the Evina one was ok, as was the bould one, but the “Wenger’s talent factory: Five of the best from Arsenal’s academy” annoyed me, back to their usual bollocksy reporting

  30. Pat

Fagan said: “The way we play, we don’t let players have a second on the ball. I don’t think Arsenal were impressed with that last season because they like to play football.

“It’s a big game for us, going to Arsenal and we want to give a good account of ourselves, like we’ve done on previous occasions.

“People (Fabregas) were on the pitch that shouldn’t have been last season but it probably boiled over because we ran them close and they were just expecting the result.

“They maybe expected things their own way. Saturday is a different game and we will be trying to give the best account of ourselves.

“We’re not doing anything untoward in how we play, we work hard, close down and make it hard for them.

“Maybe they expect us to stand off them. Sometimes they maybe get away with things because they’re Arsenal. I can’t imagine the Arsenal fans will be too happy to see us.

“But I enjoy those atmospheres, I enjoy a bit of needle in games, it gets you on your toes a bit more.

“Don’t get me wrong, we respect teams that have been in the league for many years and we look up to them.

“But our game-plan against those types of teams is to work hard and get in their faces. They don’t like it, but that’s what you’ve got to do against the better teams.

“We gave them a good run for their money last season and they’ll be wanting to show that it’s easier for them than it was last year.

“Fabregas wasn’t playing last time but he was still on the pitch! I didn’t get to shake his hand.

“He’s a world-class player and you want to play against the best players in the league, but we’ve got to go down there and concentrate on ourselves and forget about what team we might face.”

  31. A

Few more case studies hadn’t seen before in the Mail, Frimpong one is good too.

Watched the highlights of the kids win against crewe, really meant alot to them, good fight there

  32. Maksud

If we don’t win, i will cry. I’m not expecting a huge score because of our injuries. But not getting the 3 points will be too much.

  33. Maciek

A, they are fighting because they have been coached by Bould. He is a winner. You can’t say they same against Wenger.

  34. A

Not at all Maksud, there are many more negative that me. I’ll never be a pessimist, because pessimists let their emotions cloud their judgement and rationality. I’ll always try and be objective about everything, and if something is 50/50 then i’ll veer on the positive side, rather than many who just decide and assume that everything is shit, and don’t bother with actually analysing situations, or events.

  35. Maciek

Do You still belive we are in the title hunt? And if we beat Porto, we wil face Chelsea/Inter. Do You expect us to win it? What about FA CUP?Sorry, A, in all big respect for You, I just can’t see it.

  36. A

Maciek noone actually looking at things rationally could claim that we aren’t in the title hunt. I don’t expect us to win the league, but we’ve certainly got a very good chance, it’ll all depend on how close we are at the start of February. I certainly expect us to be very close come the end of the season, and if not then win the Champs League. Don’t care about the FA Cup really.

  37. Maciek

I have watched Bobby Pires’ clips on Youtube today, as well as Bergkamp’s and co. When I see Diaby,Almunia, Denilson, my heart melts.

  38. A

With Senderos off we’ll sign someone, unless we can’t find anyone, in which case Senderos won’t be allowed to go. Song going for 3-4 games really isn’t a big deal, it’s not going to make or break our season.

  39. A

As if you could ever fault any of their efforts, just because their games aren’t based around kicking people doesn’t mean they don’t try.

  40. A

Of course Maciek, Utd won the title with an aged and crap vds in goal. Almunia this season is still better than Cech has been, and they’re winning the league

  41. Maciek

I wsih You are right about the quality of our team but if we fail it will be 5 years since our last trophy and Wenger will be under pressure. If Fabregas and Arshavin both gone the building process will start again.

  42. A

No way Cesc is going to go, and Arshavin when he does go, which won’t be this summer, is not a massive loss. He’s good, but nowhere near as central to the team, we aren’t built round him, he’s just a player capable of amazing things. Nasri will be more central to the team as he develops, and Ramsey, Wilshere, Merida

  43. A

Nah Maciek, you can’t have two left footers, so that rules out Sakho. Zapata would do me, though not seen that much of him

  44. A

It’s a pity, I really like the look of Sakho too. Zapata, or maybe subotic in the summer, out of the names mentioned. Hope more of a vermaelen though, less known

  45. B.B.K.

why would you want another unknown like vern,he hasn’t come to us and help sure things up has he,we need proven players

  46. A

Yeah Cetin is too old though Maciek. We need someone around Vermaelen’s ago, so they can develop together and form an unstoppable partnership! Though if Sendy leaves we’re gonna need someone in January, which is troublesome because of the world cup. Noone who’s trying to get to the world cup would move in Jan.

  47. B.B.K.

no way, just because he has scored a few goals don’t make him the best centre back in the league,i would much rather we kept the score down to zero

  48. A

i reckon he’s been the best in the league because of his defensive attributes bbk. No team that plays the way we do will have loads of clean sheets

  49. A

it was a very poor challenge bbk.

ask any utd fan who they’d have over vidic and vermaelen this season bbk, vidic without ferdinand is just a big dumb lump

  50. Maciek

Adriano influence would have been like a ticking bomb A.He is the Adebayor Mark II. I have just seen that Polish Canal plus is going to brodcast our tommorow game.Youppie!!!!

  51. A

I dunno Maciek, if he came to us rather than stayed sunning himself in Brazil, it would show a real desire to play, and that could transfer onto the pitch, and training ground. It would only be a short term move as well

  52. Sion De Freitas

    I see.

So who do you think would be a realistic option??

Taking into account the transfer fee, availability, and all that other stuff (also considering the player actually wants to join us!)

  53. Sion De Freitas

Lukaku looks like a bastard to play against though, not just strong, but quite quick and seems to have excellent positioning and awareness. Looks to be a potentially world class player. Been studying his goals, very difficult to mark it seems.

I understand the reservations about him, but as far as I am concerned, age doesn’t matter with players like him.

  54. Sion De Freitas

    B.B.K. Says:
    December 19, 2009 at 00:37

i don’t think wenger will sign anyone especially if bendtner is due back in jan

    ——————————————————-

Neither do I, but still, it’s worth having a look at it. Who would Wenger shell out for, what would be his options?

  55. A

Yeah Sion but he would come here and play in our reserves or even u18, would certainly help us retain the youth cup! Scoring goals in the belgian league isn’t the same as the prem, he would come here and at best be just below vela in the pecking order, but more likely not even be in the first team squad to start with

  56. Sion De Freitas

Isn’t it funny that the most talented goalie we have is playing for Brentford right now? lol

I think Martin Keown may need to come back as a coach again, the team is not doing so well as a defensive unit, although I must say our pressing has been better this season.

  57. Sion De Freitas

    zaparodje Says:

Adriano and Lukalo are bothe fucking shit just like this stupid blog

    ——————————————————-

This is just an alarming waste of energy, why would you come here just to say that lol?

  58. Maksud

So can someone answer my question?

Is there a specific way to pair up teams for the quarter finals or do they just get drawn again randomly?

  59. Pat

There is a draw again after the knockout round.

I don’t know why someone said we’ll play Chelsea/Inter after Porto(if we win that is).

  60. A

Yeah Pat he did, but a Europa League game that is a dead rubber is a far cry from leading the line for Arsenal! If he came here he would at the very best be involved in the first team squad, but behind Vela in the pecking order. In the immediate future we need someone who can do a job immediately, though I certainly wouldn’t mind Lakaku coming in too!

  61. freduardo

if he’s big and strong he will be here to lead the line not sit behind vela. vela, while an attacker, aint no center forward.

  62. Micky Did It 89

    Morning Gnarley
We have my mates bacon for breakfast. Tamworth pigs. Meant to be the tastiest.
We need Bendy up top with AA, and I still want a winger in jan.

  63. Micky Did It 89

Gnarley, you will know the answer to this. Was it against Derby away, that Charlie George gave The “V” sign?

  64. Micky Did It 89

Something I have been pondering. Alot of people harp on about our GK, defence and DM, and that we should be keeping more teams out, but had we scored 5 more goals this season (albeit in the right games) we would be top. I believe we lack power up top and wide.
Barca, for example, when they had the 4-3-3 working at its best, they had TH and Eto in a front three. Compare that power to Nasri, Eddy, Walcott etc.

  65. Micky Did It 89

Oh yeah, that was a tad provocative! I am still a massive fan of the Eric Kung Fu thing at Palace. I was standing right behind the goal when Paul Davis did his thing, although my most amuzing memory from the same period was the abuse some Villa GK gave his defence. Cant remember who it was, but it was an absolutely endless torrent

  66. Micky Did It 89

Right, children all assembled. Off to prepare that bacon I was on about. Mmmmm, bacon and eggs, or white doorstop sarnies with Ketchup???

  67. reggie57

Bacon, fried tomato, and mushrooms doorstep sandwich with heaps of black pepper does it for me?
Known in the trade as a triple decker!!!!!
