Could this be the best time ever to play the scousers? Life before Arsene? You bet there was.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Well I’m thinking yes, they have not just been out of sorts, they are beginning to look like a mid table team, now, no doubt they’ll be fired up for our visit, but are they good enough? You would think they’d have been fired up for the Champions league game on Wednesday, but they lost that one, so maybe now is a good time to play them.

Walcott will be up for it, Arshavin certainly will be, so provided we can put a reasonably fit team out, we have a chance to get the three points we so desperately need, these games are must win now, especially with the gap, if we can hope the chavs and the mancs drop more points then we are still in with a shout, the trouble is there are three chasing teams now, the spuds, the northern chavs and Villa, so we have to stay focussed. And we have to play villa on the 27th so that’s a definite 6 pointer coming up.

News that Nikki B is out until the new year means we have to buy a striker, what does the new year mean? January? February? Still, I have to believe that Wenger is out there working on something, I just hope he does it on Jan 1 and not his usual last minute of the window job.

I was talking to Spud old boy Paul Miller yesterday and he told me that after the big derby, they would all go out and drink together, that people like Brady and Rix would all go out and have a knees up, well I couldn’t imagine Cesc doing that could you? I get the feeling that our players hate their players as much as the fans hate their players, well I hope so anyway, I would like to think we are all in this together!

I heard from another source that Terry Neil is not very well, Terry mate, you really are an Arsenal legend and I wish you a speedy recovery, you gave me my best Arsenal moment ever, that was beating the Mancs 3-2 in the last minute of the FA Cup final, that was up there with Anfield 89!

So there you have it, my two finest moments as an Arsenal fan and none of them involved Arsene, so there was life before Mr Wenger after all.

Yes I know we owe Arsene a lot, but other managers had their moments too, moments that will stay with me for ever, so get well soon Terry Neil!

Back to Sunday, back to the big game, they will have Gerrard and Torres, so they will have their best team, I think we will have our best team too and I have a feeling he will play Diaby in the hole or even up front. So this is my guess.

Almunia

Sagna Gallas Vermaellen Traore

Ramsey Cesc Song

Walcott Arshavin Diaby/Nasri

That would be best team with what we have available, that would give us a chance and if we get at them early and pass them off the pitch, I could see us going home with the spoils, but we must get at them early doors.

Have a great Friday Grovers, only two days to go to see us play again. We could get maximum points in December and who knows where that will take us!

    Colombian farmer castrates himself.
It is a man’s worst nightmare but for Colombian farmer Luis Alfonso Sanchez it seemed the logical thing to do.

    Colombian farmer castrates himself.
It is a man’s worst nightmare but for Colombian farmer Luis Alfonso Sanchez it seemed the logical thing to do.

The forty year old decided to castrate himself to avoid cheating on his wife who refused to have sex with him.

Mr Sanchez had performed the act on many of his animals in the past and believed the procedure would be as easy for him saying: “I’ve castrated pigs, cats, dogs and three days later they are healed.I thought that’s what it was going to be like with me. I had practice with animals, so I went ahead, put some pressure on it, and cut them to remove them by force!”

“When I saw that I could no longer count on her (his wife), so that I would’t keep bothering her, I made the decision to cut my testicles off because I am a Christian and did not want to go look for another (partner).”

The man is being treated at Santander Hospital where Dr. Javier Martinez said he is still healing: “He still has an escroto-penial hematoma. He’s been looked at by the urology department, and they found a complete absence of the testicles.”

According to doctors, Sanchez’s wounds have become infected.

Two guys are stranded in the desert dying of thirst. As they’re walking along they see a little shack. They run up to it and knock on the door. This big, fat, hairy, smelly, ugly, lady answers.
The first man tells the lady about their situation and begs her for a drink.
The women says, “Sure, if you fuck me.”
The first man replies, “I would rather die in this desert, then sleep with your fat smelly ass.”
The second man wants to live and agree’s to do the deed. The second man and the women enter the shack, leaving the first man outside. The women says, “fuck me then!”
The man agrees to do it only if she will close her eyes. He looks around the shack and sees a table full of corn on the cob. He picks one up, fucks her with it and throws it out the window. The women opens her eyes and asks for it again.
The man agrees and repeats the deed. The women is finally satisfied and agrees to give the man and his friend some water. The man calls his friend in and informs him that the women is going to give them some water.
The friend replies, “Fuck the water, I want some more of that buttered corn.”

he was contracted to Inter, then because of his personal issues went on loan in Brazil, and his contract with Inter is running out. I am not 100% sure but I think that is the case.

wenger quote in connection to dean ashton retiring.

“I used to say that the first quality of a good football player is that they have a good health and we forget that many times.”

of course now he doesn’t give a flying sh#t and signs any old injury prone player…

  6. Pedro

Sabeel, he wont quit golf! haha!

Inside, I’m glad Wenger shows patience and uses his injuries as an excuse every year.

  7. Wrighty7

    HOW ABOUT THIS,

Last night I was set upon by three guys down an alley.

I managed to knock one out………

Not the best time for a wank I know but it could have been my last!

    Pedro,
Apparently, Tiger woods wants to prove that he is serious of his wife, family life by quitting real love i.e ‘golf’ so that he can give more time to his family, and save his marriage

  9. Wrighty7

If I was Tiger I’d just dump the missus anyway.

He might lose half his money but he’d still be loaded and be able to shag any bird he wants.

Go on Tiger! Play the field!

  10. Sabeel Indian Gunner

    Wrighty,

Tiger is just a victim of his own popularity….

if it was any normal man,he wouldnt go so much embarassement as tiger is going under..

Dont know why tiger should feel guilt,we all know,in this age,Most men/women are disloyal

  11. Wrighty7

I can just see it mate. West Ham sign him and he is the bollocks. He signs for United for £15m and wenger tells us we could have had him.

    Just like Ronaldo, Ibrahimavic, etc!

  12. Samir

Just copied a comment from your site Wrighty….

Please, anyone who wants Adriano must be out of their mind. I’m brazilian and he’s a mess, believe me. He has no commitment whatosever, and his words shouldnt be believed. He said after leaving inter he wouldnt play football for awhile, then less than a week later he had signed for flamengo. he missed training lots of time and i dont think thats the kind of player we want at Arsenal. We want someone who represents the values of the club and that’s NOT Adriano. i feel sorry for any club that signs him, he’s trouble.

  13. patthegooner

The thing with the Striker situation is that we all know what we really need

And that is our very own Torres or Drogba. Two players spring to mind on that, Dzeko who whilst is a bit of a risk, I personally believe would score shed loads with the creativity at the club. The other is David Villa who is proven at the highest level, and is not even cup tied.

The problem is we know only too well that Wenger won’t buy either of those players, and that is why I cling onto the hope that we might pull in an Adriano in the hope that we can get away with doing it on the cheap. He is a risk, but what are the alternatives in Wengers plans? Apart from no one.

Ironic commentary about Ashton from Wenger…

“The first quality of a good football player is that they have good health and we forget that many times.”

  15. zeus

Just had a listen to the Arseblog Arsecast, and I have to say I agree with most of what the interviewee was saying about TW14. If any of you get a chance, I recommend giving it a listen.

It seems Theo is the new Marmite then.

    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-no-need-for-campbell-at-the-moment

Fookin amazing. Gallas and TV5 we know but beyond them you have a frenchman who is long past it and against top quality opposition is way out of his depth and a Swiss who can’t even make the bench anymore.

Its statements like these that makes you question Wenger’s sanity. We all know that 1 of Tv5 or Gallas (maybe both depending on how cruel faith is) will get injured for a long stretch. Whats he thinking…..

  17. Samir

    Wenger says
“But at the moment we have no need to sign anybody”.

That just what I didn’t want him to say!

He better bear in mind that he will have no job if he wins nothing again this season!

  18. Samir

    I would think the front three will be;

    Walcott–Arshy–Nasri

Seeing Eduardo has been injured he may not start?
Diaby will also be back for Sunday :S

  19. Pedro

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly the world’s quickest footballer according to German publication Der Spiegel.

The study claims the former Manchester United winger is quicker than Bayern Munich’s Arjen Robben, Arsenal’s Theo Walcott, and Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.

The report reckons Ronaldo reaches an average speed of 33.6 kilometres per hour (20.88 mph), marginally ahead of Robben who is measured at 32.9 kph.

Making up the top five is Arsenal forward Robin Van Persie with an average speed of 32.1 kph.

  20. Pat

    pedro, I don’t believe that.

RVP is not faster than Eto’o.

Also, Rosicky ran a longer distance and caught up with CR in one of our games against the Mancs, and Rosicky is slow.

I never thought CR was that fast. Fuck me, CLichy ALWAYS got back to recover against CR.

Bad study. Rooney isn’t in the top 5 either.

  21. Pat

zeus, do you not know how to read? Wenger said as long as he has 4 CBs, theres no need.

Senderos is off in January, 200% sure about that.

    I think we’ll sign Campbell

  22. Pat

He is Samir. That study is a joke. Nike once made a study which said Rooney and Bentley are both just as fast as Walcott. Ridiculous.

  23. Pat

Choy, not always. When CR makes a run Clichy always caught up with him to contain. This was before he had the ball.

The study is inaccurate cause not every footballer uses his top speed often. CR depends on it, Messi doesn’t.

The studies are done only once in ONE game. Depending on the style of a player, top speed may never be used. League also comes into account.

Studies like this are more often than not bullshit. NIKE’s Mercurial Vapor project was a disaster. SO inaccurate. They received heavy criticism.

This is some unknown German publication ffs

  24. ethangunner

    pat

i think wenger will convert one of his left backs – promote eboue or play silvestre regularly or promote bartley etc .. prior to buying a CD

what happens to JD next year ???

nar he wont buy a CD …
he wants to convert song also to CD …
if rambo comes of age he might do it …

we will be lucky to get a striker ..
so i hope he gets one of quality ..

thats the best we can hope for currently ..

  25. zeus

    @ Pat

I will jump off a 10 story building head first if Wenger buys a CB EVEN if Senderos leaves.

You should know better by now. We’ve all heard this before.

  26. ethangunner

is this top speed thing with / or without the ball at your feet ?

    id say without …

as 33km/ph plus controlling the ball would be hard to gauge ..

  27. Jaguar

Why would he want to convert Song into a CD,when he has apparently improved so much as a DM.Enough with this tinkering.

  28. Jaguar

I find it ridiculous Zeus. Why is he so insistent on playing a couple of marmites everytime. He was more concerned about Diaby’s injury than RVP’s,FFS.

  29. zeus

Wenger has a point to prove. He wants to be able to say that he didn’t falter, he wasn’t a populist, he was a steady hand at the wheel when everyone was slating him to buy buy buy.

He wants to say a man of strong belief and character that sticks to his guns in the face of extreme criticism is someone to be revered. A pity that he decided to be like this with some of the current lot though.

I for one expect MAYBE a striker in January and nothing else.

  30. Jaguar

I dont think his stubbornness would be vindicated at the end of the season,Zeus. AKB’s keep ranting about how he safely he is managing our finances. At the sametime, they overlook his obvious shortcomings from a managerial point of view, which is indeed disturbing.

  31. Jaguar

I was talking about the matches United have won Choy.I dont think they have won any when that diving fairy played against Clichy.

  32. Pat

choy, whats your point? Ronaldo never, and I mean NEVER got the better of Clichy. Clichy’s debut was when he struggled against a young CR, but after that…nothing.

CR scored against us when he switched flanks and Clichy wasn’t marking him anymore.

To be honest, CR had one good performance against us and I wouldn’t even call it that. Almunia is shit and one was a counter(which he excellently startedd might I add).

Ronaldo has always been Clichy’s bitch.

  33. Pedro

Pat, Castrol found similar findings… similar results came out of the study after the Euro’s that had Robin second.

Der Spiegel conducted this study… you can’t just call it shit.

I can’t believe for a second Rosicky can keep up with Ronaldo… the guys is mustard!

  34. Jaguar

True Pat.The only time Ronaldo scored against Clichy was in 2007-08,was a tap in at the Emirates, when he was rather playing centrally.Clichy always had the upper hand over Gaynaldo.

  35. Jaguar

    Pat Says:
    December 11, 2009 at 20:59

Valencia and Lennon always caused Clichy more problems than CR
    ————————————————————
Ronaldo always tried to beat any defender for pace, whereas the likes of Lennon would cross ball without any flimsy work on the flanks.

  36. Pedro

Pat, such and over the top assessment there.

Ronaldo has owned us on more than one occassion… I don’t think he’s anyones bitch…

You’ve only got to look at his build and how he runs to see that he is going to be faster than Clichy and Rosicky.

  37. choy

Geez, here we are discussing one of the worlds best players and how clichy rapes him every time.. One who scored 2 against us in the CL semi final..

Lets discuss how diaby is going to perform on sunday instead.

  38. Pat

    Arsenal have been Ronaldo’s bitch?

What games do you watch? One game, CL Semi at the Emirates.

Otherwise, he was always pants against us. Scoring a tap in after Saha and Evra do all the hard work(once Theo came one, mind you) is nothing special.

Toure shut him down when he plaed RB ffs!!

Normally, Arsenal have almost always kept Ronaldo quiet. You obviously don’t watch the games.

  39. Pat

choy, did Clichy play in the semifinal, no he didn’t! 2 goals. One of which was a gift from Almunia.

I never said Rosicky is faster, I just said CR is not that fast.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DlcBr5LZe4

I don’t care that CR had the ball. According to the “stats”, he’s just as fast with the ball as without it cause he kicks it far in front, unlike Messi.

Rosicky had a much longer route to run and he is VERY slow. Even with the ball, CR should smoke him. Torres, Robben, Theo would never give Rosicky a chance even with the ball.

    BAM!

  40. Pat

No, no topic changing. Rosicky is slow as hell!lol

Ball or no ball, SAF, the stats, etc have said CR is just as fast with the ball than without it.

  41. Pat

Diaby usually has his “better games” after he comes back from injury.

His best performance for us, ever, was at OT this season. The OG took away the MOTM performance for him. United couldn’t stop him, they didn’t know how to deal with him.

Shame. I thought that game would propel him onwards, but looks like he just got lucky! The OG didn’t help either

  42. Pat

Diaby was our best player that day, so not sure what you’re on about Choy. He’s normally shit, but give credit where its due.

  43. choy

How can you be the best player when you lack the concentration and score an own goal?

Its not the sunday league, it is professional football!

  44. David

    NOne sense PAt

Our only avenue of creativity was Arshavin. Scored the goal and almost created the second with that miracle save off of Van P.

Diaby wasnt playing like his usual shite self but lets not go and say that he was MOTM now.

  45. David

My concern is Wenger handing out all these contracts to players who have barely even proven themselves and done absolutely nothing.

And he’s offering Rosicky a new contract WTF for? Bastard might get injured the next 3 years. Jeez.

    Why not Extend Arshavin’s contract?

Or here is an incredible idea. How bout we extend Fab4′s contract?

  46. Pat

The best players score own goals. What point are you trying to make?

JT and Rio have never reached Carragher’s level, imo, and he scores more own goals than anyone I know.

We have pussy centerbacks who don’t throw themselves at everything so the opposition scores either way.

Arshavin was good, but still average against them. Scored a goal that any other keeper in the league would save, bar Almunia.

Miracle save? Not really. Good positioning, I think so.

  47. David

One fuck up leading to a chain of fuck ups.

Wenger fucked up with Flamini now he’s paranoidly signing every gobshyte to a new contract….Denilson got a new deal.

    Really?

  48. Pat

hahah CHoy, you are clueless. Blaming Rosicky for tevez going past 3 Arsenal defenders and scoring?

For your information, almost EVERY goal scored comes after one of your players lose the ball. FACT.

Song, Eboue and some other dud didn’t even attempt to challenge Tevez. Blame them. There was no way Rosicky could recover once Bellamy got in front of him. he started running, but stopped once he got blocked.

PLUS, he saw 2 defnders closing in on tevez. If you’ve ever played football, you’d know that Rosicky was not responsible for that man anymore. and his job is to go centrally and try to help out on a cross if one comes in.

  49. David

Miracle save…lucky save…whatever you want to call it…Diaby has never been the MOTM…was he on his way to being it? Ofcoarse not.

  50. choy

If you actually saw what rosicky was trying to do and how he lost the ball, it would make more sense, but since you didn’t, I suggest you find highlights of the game.

He didn’t lose the ball in the middle of the park.. FYI.

For your information, almost EVERY goal scored comes after one of your players lose the ball. FACT

I would say about 60%, so if you lose the ball, you are going to just depend on your defenders to get it back? Thats why we are not champions.

The entire team needs to defend.

  51. Pat

CHoy, I watch every game. I never said the ball was lost in the middle of the park. It was lost at the RB spot, but further up.

And yes, when Rosicky saw 2 Arsenal defenders closing down Tevez, he was not responsible for him anymore. His job was to go pick up another player. Why would we have 3 players on 1 guy?

Thats what they call magnet football, you know, when 5 yrs olds all run towards the ball like its a magnet.

That goal was al Eboue’s and Song’s fault. What kind of challenge was that from Song? It was laughable. The most pathetic attempt of a challenge I’ve seen for awhile.

  52. Pat

Yes you are, but not if someone else (2 defenders in this case) picks up the man. Then you go central, towards the pen. box, and pick up someone else cause naturally, Eboue and Song should have dealed with Tevez and the worst outcome would have been a cross.
