Meet Jecko

Edin Dzeko, pronounced ‘Jecko’ was on display last night in a shit game for Wolfsburg against a second string ManU. The team performance really was dreadful, but of course, because miserable muppet Michael Owen gets a goal hanging hatrick, there are now calls this morning for his inclusion in the world cup squad, piffle, he really would be a liability and like Beckham he would be stopping someone else that really deserved it making the squad.

With 3 or even 4 players way better than Beckham such as Lennon, Phillips, Milner and our very own Theo. Owen has Defoe, Agbonlahor, Rooney, Heskey, Cole, Bent and even Crouch ahead of him.

Anyway I saw enough from Dzeko last night with his movement to make me lick my lips with anticipation at what he’d be like in a team with the service we can provide. Add to that his aerial finishing, he could be the complete package. He made the goal look like the headed version of a tap in, and it really wasn’t.

Go and sign him Arsene, yes I know there is a slight possibility that they may qualify if Moscow get banned, but that’s like Ireland getting in the World Cup, remote, and I saw enough of Wolfsburg for them to realise they are going nowhere. So he’ll want it as well.

The Chavs proved how invincible they really are by managing to secure a draw at home against some pub team from Cyprus, and this is after they got done by a team of Arsenal rejects on Saturday, so Arsene, buy Dzeko, it’s not over yet.

Tonight we have 10 teenagers playing against Olympiakos, Bartley will debut and I’m keen to see if he can step up, if he can great, if he looks lost, time to buy a ready made for the long haul in.

I don’t know what to think about tonight except I’m really looking forward to it, I liked watching our kids last year in the youth cup, and I enjoyed watching us beat Liverpool this year in the Carling, but I hated the Man City game, so which team will we see tonight eh?

Either way it doesn’t matter, so enjoy yourself, and dependent on Pedro’s social life, he may be posting a match report tomorrow.

    Vela, Walcott and Wilshere are having a shit game imo. Vela has missed two chances, Walcott one and Wilshere keeps giving the ball away.

    When you consider the game coming on Sunday, and the team sent to play tonight, that was a good performance that a lot of them can be proud of taking part in.

    Funny how a player like Theo can be one of the poorer performers on the night!!!!

    Ramsay, controlled the game way beyond his yooung years. Another Cesc in the making with a cool head, a good pass, a great shot and an drive for goal too…Him and Song best players on the pitch today in that order

    We are the better team….when we lose..isnt the objective to score goals..Its the team that scores more goals is the better team…

    There are exceptions of course..when there are bad calls etc..

    But I am getting tired of saying ..we were the better team but we lost…

    The better team is the team that scores more goals…I think the club should get that through their heads fast or we will continue to play good football and lose…

    Today was a nothingy game, with a decent enough performance, and lots of positives to take from the game.

    I’m shocked by the surprisingly sensible ITV coverage, I’d expect a “Arsenal are fucked” conclusion drawn from this game!

    So what about who they had in defence, thats a team full of international regulars, that could afford to sit back and attack on the counter. Evra’s their first choice left back, Cruise goes about 5 deep for us.

    We went out to attack and got caught on the break and lost by a single goal with a team that was far younger, there’s no comparison there.

    Fabianski was very good today, really want him between the sticks asap ahead of Almunia, he’s going to be one hell of a keeper. Never seen a keeper come off his line so quickly, and his relexes are scary, really commanding too.

    Would really want him starting at Anfield, but it’s pretty unlikely to happen

    Vela and Walcott were very disappointing tonight. Hate losing but either way we still qualify first. Ramsey had a great game, Song got better in the 2nd half. We all know Cruise and GIlbert will not make it, so no use in talking bad about them. Fabianski had good and bad moments. Merida was decent, a bit hold and cold. Need more cut throat players though, but all in all it wasn’t that bad. Some people might go overboard but I thought most of them did a good job, just too much inexperience.

    i just checked the stats,we have more posession and almost same shots and shots on target,they just had a goal more.nothing to feel sad about.
    anyways we should consider the fact that we were playing with 3 league one players in our defence and just conceded one.

    Lets be honest here, if we play a team that actually attacks and leaves space then Theo becomes useful with his quick direct runs. He adds another dimension to our attach with those speedy runs.

    If a team parks the bus then Th14 is rendered useless. End off. Its been the story of his Arsenal career so far. He isn’t useless. He has his uses in certain situations, but he certainly isn’t a starter for the majority of games we play.

    Merida’s passing was awful and he made the wrong decisions with who to put throught the ball time and time again.

    Im struggle to think of one thing he did right?

    I mean i like the boy alot…but like Theo i will be the first to admit he played like shite.

    Apart from Vela. Merida kept losing the ball left and right!

    zorro i agree about touch, but his movement was absolutely incredible, and in the first team in this system he’ll get through and behind the defence time and time again, something we’re missing at the moment.

    Neither Vela nor Theo were great with their final ball, and neither playing with confidence or sharp, but both have very good movement off the ball, and you can see the difference between having players like them and just playmakers.

    How many times did we get through today compared to in recent games? Theo 3-4 times, Vela 2-3 times?

    Having players who make runs in behind will make a big difference to the first team, though obviously they need to get sharp to make a real impact

    Vela was the only one forward…not that he had any other option to pass to.

    Ramsey was free on goal and he chose to pass to walcott.

    I think sometimes they frustrate one another on the pitch.

    yeah they all make the wrong decisions in those situations at times David, Ramsey did too when he should have put theo in but tried to pass to vela. I didn’t think merida lost the ball that much at all, created space very well, went past people, and did very well imo! Along with Ramsey and Song he ran the midfield

    what do you mean he can fuck off zeus?! if theo is injured from that then anyone would be injured from it. metatarsal’s aren’t down to someone being injury prone, they’re just being kicked in a certain place.

    wilshere did some nice things in the first half but looked to be lacking confidence too, didn’t really try and go on a real run until the end of the half when he got tackled just inside the box after going past a couple of them.

    Wow, some of you have a really misinformed conception of World class.
    When Pato, Aguero and Benzema were Vela’s age they were far superior. Unless Vela improves like crazy over the next couple of years I see him being no better than Rossi.
    Walcott is so far from world class it’s untrue.
    Merida? I somehow don’t see it.

    True Angelos, and when Henry and Zidane were Vela and Merida’s age they weren’t as good, different players develop at different speeds. I expect Merida to become like Nasri and Rosicky, I expect Vela to become a very very good forward and winger, he’s got fantastic all round ability, even if he’s playing without any confidence at the moment.

    Theo has amazing movement, and as he continues to develop he’ll score ALOT of goals, even if his all round game never becomes world class

    I didn’t say Theo didn’t deserve a chance, what I said was he has his specific uses. Its a general consensus in my circle anyway, that Walcott has a small footballing brain when compared to Ramsey and Wilshere and of course Fab4. And at 20, you will hardly expect him to grow that brain now, but I do admit he has his uses. Like against open teams.
    Park the bus and get a good defender on the flanks and Walcott is rendered useless. Nice open game, he looks like the 2nd coming of TH14. Not worthy of being an undisputed starter in my opinion.

    So very true.
    The future belongs to Pato and Aguero surely though. They are by no means the finished article and their fans go through the growing pains one expects from players so young, but their class is undeniable.

    zeus that’s not true at all, theo isn’t lost against defensive teams, quite the opposite, just his pace over five yards can break through the walls of players and create situations where we can score goals.

    Theo off the ball has an amazing footballing brain, but on the ball his technique and composure is lacking at times, but improving all the time. Theo’s big problem has always been the expectation on him
