I hate losing says Wenger, really says Le Grove?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Todays post was going to be a positive rallying call for the home game against the long throw specialists Stoke City, but when I read on Pravda, sorry, Arsenal.com, the official mouthpiece of manager Arsene Wenger, I felt I had to comment.

Question, which defeat hurt the most?…What???

He’s talking about which 3 nil defeat hurt him the most last week as he hates losing, but felt the first defeat, the 3 nil to the chavs was the worst one, because the team played well and the goals were not the fault of Almunia, etc, etc.

A manager in denial frightens me, the first thing is he is saying the team did well, bombing hopeless balls in to the dwarf like forward line the whole game was not playing well boss, it’s pretty stupid in my book. Saying that Almunia had no chance was endorsing him as a good keeper, when he is one of our biggest problems.

So that fills me full of confidence. Saying you hate losing and going north with the squad you took is an oxymoron, you were doomed before you stepped on the coach, how can you say you hate losing and do what you did? Are you saying you thought that team, against City would win??? Don’t forget there had to be a result on the night.

I am amazed at that!

Anyway, onto today, we play the long ball specialists and we have a fairly short team, maybe this is the time to bring in Kyle Bartley and play him alongside Gallas and push Vermaelen into the DM role, just to see what happens, Bartley is a big lad and maybe it’s worth trying Vermaelen as a DM, a position I think he would be awesome in.

And don’t forget, fans new favourite Alex Song is suspended,  …I think.

We should take them apart today, if we can’t hammer teams like Stoke, will never be a top four team, I say top four because I now feel that’s all we are good enough to win this season, our first team is way too fragile and our manager never seems to learn from his mistakes, how he thinks Almunia is good enough is way beyond me, if he won’t replace him, stick Fabianski in there, Almunia isn’t even fourth choice for Spain, so they don’t rate him either.

I love the way we play football Arsene, and I’m glad we have you as our manager, but you can’t be right all the time, you still have time to rescue our season, forget project youth, it hasn’t worked and you have had more than enough time, change tack before we go through another win-less season, we only need three players and you have more than enough money, go and spend it.

Have a great day Grovers, I expect nothing other than a big win.

What do you guys think about this lineup for Olympiacos?

    ……………………..Fabianski……………………..
    Gilbert/Eastmond…..Bartley………Senderos……..Silvest..
    ……………………..Coquelin……………………..
    …..Ramsey…………………………….Merida……….
    ..Wilshere……………..Theo/Vela………………Watt….

Someone said we should save Vela cuz we have a striker crisis….yeah I guess we should and give Theo some game time…

This will be a good test for the kids as Olympiacos will be fighting to sure up second place…

I think a 2-2 draw with Olympiacos would be an excellent result…even 3-3…

  2. A

    Ja I reckon

    Fabianski

    Sagna Senderos Vermaelen Silvestre

    Ramsey Eastmond Diaby

    Theo Vela Merida/Wilshere

Or if wilshere is rested theo centrally with both merida and wilshere.

Diaby and Theo need game time to get match fit really, would expect more of a mix than total league cup team, and Bartley didn’t even make that, but with the injuries we’ve got you never know, could just play whole team of kids

  3. Ja_Gunner

    A?

    Why play Vermaelen?

    Why play Sagna?

The players are dropping like flies, we need to rest our key players…..

I would not risk Sagna and Vermy with Gallas and Eboue being uncertain…..

The game against Olympiacos is less important than the Carling cup game against City….

We have already won the group..why should we risk our important players…it makes no sense..

Remember pool will be resting players as well because their game against Fiorentina in meaningless

so chamakh is unavailable, and dzeko is too expensive. Great.

    ———————————————————-

Adriano will be the signing in Jan on loan for 6 months, he fits the bill. Experience, tall, powerful, reasonable quick, good technique, good touch, has played at the top level & wants to go to the world cup.

  5. A

I just don’t see us playing a complete youth team Ja. We could well get in trouble with UEFA because of it, and if we played a complete reserve team then they could get an absolute battering and destroy their confidence.

Ronaldo sent off for Madrid, he’s become even more of an arrogant piece of shit than he was at Utd

  6. finestcuts

Supergunner, he would certainly be affordable, and fits Wenger’s criteria (world class, not cup tied in the CL).

    Ariano
    Engelaar
And Subotic could transform our season.

How much would them 3 cost aswell?
    Hardly anything…….

    ——————————————————–

Dont want Engelaar, Subotic will not come to us to be 3rd choice.

Imagine What front 3 of Bendtner, RVP & Adriano can offer us in the air away from home.

  8. A

subotic would be alot samir, if he’s worth it though i’d be fine with that.

Adriano went back to brazil, was meant to be retiring from football, home sick, suffered from depression etc, i don’t see that happening….

rather proper ronaldo if we’re going back to brazil!

engelaar is 30, and i’d imagine would cost more than he’d be worth to us, psv wouldn’t want to lose him mid season

  9. Ja_Gunner

    Get in trouble with UEFA?

That is crap….the team would still have Senderos and Silvestre…..
    And Fabianski is 24
Gilbert is 22..so he isnt that young…

The rest are mostly 18-20…..Thats not that young..Wilshere would be youngest at 17….

Fuck UEFA we cant afford to lose Vermaelen and Sagna……

  10. A

Ja if we played a complete reserve team i’d be worried about us getting in trouble, it would be very unfair on the other teams in the group.

Just by playing players doesn’t mean we’d lose them!

  11. finestcuts

A, I can’t remember the criteria but in the CL you need a certain amount of “homegrown players”. And we would most certainly not get into trouble, consider Aston Villa and Everton’s lineups in the Europa cup.

  12. Ja_Gunner

    ……………………..Fabianski……………………..
    Gilbert/Eastmond…..Bartley………Senderos……..Silvest..
    ……………………..Coquelin……………………..
    …..Ramsey…………………………….Merida……….
    ..Wilshere……………..Theo/Vela………………Watt….

Eastmond was crap in the last game..he should test out Coquelin now..Eastmond has had two games…time for Coquelin to get one…

Also Theo and Vela are full internationals..there is no way UEFA can say anything…

  13. A

yeah finest, teams don’t play totally full teams, but playing an entire reserve team i think we could get in trouble for. Resting half a team is one thing, I can’t recall anyone not playing a single first team player!

In the champs league the homegrown players criteria is when you register players on august 31st, not for the inidividual matchday squads

  14. Ja_Gunner

A……what do you mean its not fair to the other teams..we have earned the right to rest players because we have secured top spot..its not our fault Standard Liege was not good enough top secure their spot as well in 5 games…..That is not our problem..

AZ has no chance to qualify anyway….its between Olympiacos and Liege…..and as I said its Liege’s fault they did not secure their spot..it will just be Olympiacos’s goo luck that they get to play the kids…and who says Olympiacos will win?

    A I dont follow your argument…

  15. finestcuts

Yeah so we’d play them A, and anyone else, therefore we’d fulfill the Champions League criteria. They can criticize Wenger’s selection but as long as it’s within the rules they have no right to object to who Wenger chooses.

  16. Supergunner07

Adriano went back to brazil, was meant to be retiring from football, home sick, suffered from depression etc, i don’t see that happening….

    ————————————————————

Adriano suffered depression bcuz his dad died plus Mourinho never gave him love, Wenger gives his players freedom & always backs them, he will be a good short-term signing.

  17. WB

    supergunner,
adriano is a good call, fits the bill, offer all that we are missing,but…..
firstly, i doubt he will leave brazil mainly because of the reasons he went their.
and secondly imo,he will take a lot of time to adapt to pl,bcz he is playing in very weak league.we need a player who can make instant impact

  18. Ja_Gunner

A..do you see how many players we have out?

Diaby, Rosicky, Gallas, Eboue, Djurou, Eduardo, Bendter, Vela, Gibbs etc etc….

How the hell can UEFA blame us for playing this team?

    ……………………..Fabianski……………………..
    Gilbert/Eastmond…..Bartley………Senderos……..Silvest..
    ……………………..Coquelin……………………..
    …..Ramsey…………………………….Merida……….
    ..Wilshere……………..Theo/Vela………………Watt….

We would have left out Sagna, Vermaelen, Nasri, Almunia
Song, Cesc, Denilson…….that means we would have rested roughly half the team

  19. A

supergunner i just really can’t see adriano returning to europe anytime soon. he was suffering on and off from depression for a good few years, and was an alcoholic etc. He finally went back to brazil because he couldn’t handle it all, and was even going to retire from football.

I’d be shocked if he considered leaving brazil….

Also the brazilian league is very different to our league, he’d take time to adapt etc….

finest/ja i just wouldn’t be surprised if we got in trouble. People rest players in dead rubbers, but i’ve never seen a team rest their entire team, and play a total team of kids. I could imagine liege if they won and olympiakos won against our kids kicking up a hell of a fuss about how unfair it is, us not taking the game seriously etc, and our getting into trouble because of it

  20. Ja_Gunner

A..they can make a fuss all they want…but once it within the rules….they cant do anything about it.

I could look at it from a different angle as well….why should we play a strong team and “help” Liege to qualify?

You can never please everyone but once it is within the rules..no action can be taken….let the fuckers talk if they wish..what happens if we play Sagna and Vermaelen and lost them..the backlash from the fans would be immense….

The backlash from the fans is more important than the press, Liege etc…

did UEFA/Wolfsburg/CSKA complain when Manure played alot fringe players against BEsiktas?

  21. leon

ja sorry to harch but that not that many injuries if this team had quality backup it would not effect the team that much in my view we need go quality backup in every position we have good back up in left back position keeper position although almunia is backup keeper but midfield and cb positions are major prblems only 1 top class midfielder is a problem and only vern and gallas are top class of you think about just how mant top class players fully in there prime do have in squad not realy alot that real problem i dont consider 6-7 players injured to be that bad if have good enough squad which clearly dont

  22. WB

UEFA rules for the 2008-09 season state that a club may register up to three new players for the knockout stage of the Champions League. But only one of these can be a player who has represented his former club in Europe, and provided it was in another European competition.

I think we can buy a striker from europa league, and he will be available for our knockout matches.
so mr.wenger u asked about a striker who is world class and not cup tied being available…….DAVID VILLA is available, but he would be too expensive for you

  23. A

Ja we’ve played at 100% in every other game, playing at 20% against olympiakos in the final game would be very unfair on the others.

We wouldn’t be playing a strong team to help liege qualify, we’d be playing a weaker team than we have against every other team, but just not THAT much weaker as an entire reserve team.

Utd played the likes of vidic, brown, neville, anderson, park. It wasn’t their entire reserve/youth team.

I don’t know if there would be rules about it, things have certainly changed from the days when Utd got in trouble for resting players in the fa cup, but i’ve not seen a single team play an entire reserve team, and if they did there would very likely be scope for uefa to tell the team off.

There will be something in the rules about trying your best in every game, and if we put out an entire reserve/youth team we could get in trouble.

i’d be very happy to play the entire league cup team, but don’t see it happening

  24. WB

ja,why would Wolfsburg/CSKA complain, it was good for them.
red nose took a bold decision, but it completely backfired.his fringe players lost at home to beskitas!
    what a shame!!!
Now they have a decent chance to finish at second in group.they will play wolfberg away on last matchday

  25. leon

what would happen if vern gallas risicky nasri fab song and rvp and aa got injured and the rest were fit with current squad we have. ithink we all now what would happen and exposes the real lackquality there is in this squad

  26. Ja_Gunner

A ..yes they can tell us off if they want…but as long there is nothing written about personnel.they cant do shit…

The CC team would still have experienced internationals in it…

Senderos, Silvest, Theo, Vela..even Fabianski has played for Poland……

  27. A

Ja there will be something written about doing your best to win every game, so they could be able to do shit….

Fabianski should be our number one, can’t believe he didn’t start today, very surprised.

  28. zeus

I don’t mean to throw out platitudes here, but Barcelona are a world class side. They really are. Watching them now and it is just amazing how despite pouring forward in numbers there are no nerves at all, they just have the confidence to do as they please and they kno they will score.

Also, its interesting viewing to see Yaya Toure missing again. Pep Guardiola is really trying the guys patience.

  29. A

i agree about yaya, busquets is the future for them, yaya is done there as a regular, if only it had happened 12 months ago

  30. WB

    my line up would be
    fab
    gilbert-senderos-bartley-silvestre
    coquelin
    ramsey-merida
    wilshere-watt-Jet
    song,walcott,vela,diaby on bench

olympiacos will try extra hard to win this.i cant even think about playing any key player in the match.

  31. A

I forgot about JET WB, he could be in the squad.

I’d start Diaby and Theo if fit to try and get them match fit and in the best shape possible before Liverpool.

Other than that I’d like those players to be there, though I’m doubtful it will be THAT weak a team we put out

  32. Ja_Gunner

I hope we go in for Yaya in the summer….

Yaya has started about half the games for Barca this year…

He plays morein the Champions league..while Busquets starts nmorein La liga..

  33. ethangunner

A manager in denial frightens me….
    ————————————-
errr , yes thats been the problem the whole time .
for the last season or 2 wenger has been under pressure and his errors more than hi-lighted by gooner fans everywhere .

I still think this all boils down to money .
tight economy , still selling players off for 40 mil and not replacing them ..

always being short of quality players , 6 years now with no silverware .. or having a team not capable of producing as such .

If that was the boards/ wengers master plan for the past 1/2 decade well it blows goats !

  34. leon

i know alot poeple are going think i am crazy but i think bretna has the real potential to be great striker he is powerful he wqorks very hard he just needs to work on his finishing but another world class striker is much needed but bretna can do good job

  35. zeus

I hope we go for Yaya as well, but you would have to question his ambition if he left Barca and came to us given all the other big names that are potentially in for him.

  36. A

zeus we’re as big a name as any, you wouldn’t question someone’s ambition if they came to us! won’t happen though, others will pay much more money, and with him away at the african nations, and us having song i couldn’t see us being in for him

  37. ethangunner

    zeus

no chance of getting yaya i feel , not after kolo has left ..

this would be like a poisoned chalice to him now!

  38. ethangunner

if we get a striker it will be like a dzeko , or some other tallish ‘young’ potential player ..
(id like to think wenger would get an experienced sharp shooter in , but we all know wenger and his weakness for CHEAP – YOUTH – POTENTIAL …

possibly another African .. (as the quota is currently down :) )

  39. ethangunner

    yes shakey,

if you can hold a straight face and say we deserved it .. then you believe it ..
but the last time we were really contenders for anything .. was 03/04 …

  40. A

WB i’m pretty sure they do, otherwise why would all our other youth players be registered?!

  41. A

ha that is true on FM WB, but i’m pretty sure it doesn’t work like that! I think you can register any number of players under 21, but they still have to be registered before the deadline. You register an A and B squad in real life, on Football Manager you only name one squad

  42. Baxter Wall

Who the hell are Uefa to tell us what our best side is?

As long as the players are registered we can play them.

I think we’ll see Silvestre and Senderos with Traore and Eboue at the back, so you could argue that Traore is currently first team but you can take the risk as you’ve got Silvestre as cover.

  43. A

yeah stu, i said i’d be very worried if we didn’t win by three goals and although it’s borderline with the missed pen i’m still a bit worried after that. Not seen the performance yet though scoring only 2 goals is a worry regardless of anything else

  44. Baxter Wall

Stoke beat us last season so i don’t think we have any reason to expect to put six past them, I mean how often do teams score six? 5 times a season across the whole league?

  45. WB

The beleaguered Arsenal manager, Arsène Wenger, could find himself in a confrontation with another coach next week, and one with pedigree, too. Johan Cruyff the Dutchman who has just taken on the job of picking and coaching the Catalonia representative XI, wants to choose a full-strength side for his first match in charge, against Argentina on December 22. That would mean calling up Arsenal’s captain, Cesc Fabregas. Arsenal have no fixture that day but will be in the middle of a sequence of six games in 19 days.

  46. A

beat us away baxter, chelsea apart today was the least goals we’ve scored at home this season, the first time we’ve scored less than 3, which for me is par for us at home for a small team

  47. Baxter Wall

I went today and we played very well with a dramatically weakened team and kept a clean sheet. I was happy with that.

  48. Stu

Happy with the result overall but not happy with the lineup and i said as much before the match kicked off.

We were at home against a team with an awful away record at best but Wenger chose Eboue as a forward. It was very peculier, i always thought he only did that when we played away from home.

  49. Baxter Wall

its not Stoke are defensive mugs though A. No reason to expect to score 6.

For me only one recognised striker was more the reason we didn’t score more. Although it was Arshavins best game for us this season. It was a “this is where I play boss” type performance from him.

  50. A

I can’t comment Baxter, I couldn’t make nor afford it so went to see Peterborough instead.

3 goals though is the least we’ve scored so far this season, so it worried me a bit.

Stu it’s because of our ridiculous injury situation that Eboue played

  51. Baxter Wall

It was a strange selection for sure Stu…but we dominated from minute one to minute 90 so we can’t complain too much.

  52. A

I dunno about that Baxter, away from home they’re pretty embarrassing.

Wenger said that he thinks Arshavin is good playing there, but he wasn’t “fanatic” about playing there, implying that he’d rather not play centrally, so not sure it was a “this is where i play” sort of thing, though I really like the idea of him there, looking forward to seeing the game later

  53. Baxter Wall

    Eboue was actually excellent today.

Wenger said that Eddie has a knock and well Vela played 90 on Wednesday and is still very young to be overplayed, walcott injured, so is RVP and So is Bentdner..its not like there were a lot of choices

  54. Stu

Sure we have an injury crisis but Vela (adebayors replacement) started on the bench. He was available and when he came on played pretty well.

Not for the first time Eboues approach play was good but his final ball or when in a dangerous area he just isnt even nearly good enough and his poor productivity is painfully evident when he plays there.

  55. Stu

So what if Vela played 90minutes midweek. He is a professional athlete and should be more than able for it. And its not like he did much against City anyway…not enough to make him tired for today.

  56. A

stu vela played 90 minutes midweek and ran like mad all game, he was absolutely dead at the end, not surprised at all that he was too tired to start

  57. A

what stu?! vela ran around like a madman against city! he made run after run after run, with little support, and by the end looked dead on his feet!

  58. Pat

Nasri, Verm, and Arshavin cost us 39 million pounds. So we spent 39 million in one year.

I complain about the lack of spending, but 39 mill is a decent amount.

  59. SharkeySure

    Stu….

No offence but pal, but I jut dont get all the Eboue bashing from so many people.

He’s a great athlete who gets up and down the pitch, he beats people for fun, and he makes things happen.

I just wqish people woule get off hi sback, like Baxter said, he played well today.

How small would our team have been today without him..??

  60. Stu

City got so fucking lucky today. Whatever about the Ade og but one goal was never a free kick (and shit goalkeeping) and the other was a handball.

Good that the chavs lost but i fucking hate City!

  61. Stu

No offence taken Sharkey. Not bashing him..more the situation we are in that (regardless of injuries) a back up right back is playing in the forward line. He has no end product and its very annoying and frustrating when he plays there imo.

  62. SharkeySure

Stu…for me Eboue is a utility player.

At RB he aint great defensively which is why he only plays there against weaker teams.

In our system I’m glad to see his directness in cintrast to over passing it sometimes.

If he had end product hed be the best RM in world football ;-)

  63. SharkeySure

Reg you;re right but Given isn;t very ‘commanding’ is he..??

I think hes a very ‘flashy’ keeper who ‘catches’ the eye’

Where was he when Thierry double dribbled the other week. Miles away….??

  64. Samir

Given never seems to come for crosses.
Usually stays on his line and makes a spectacular save :)

You want to see his save in the first half. Drogba played through looked a certain goal and there was Given…..
Then all them saves before the Adecunt OG.

    Then that Penalty.
    He won them the game.
If Shit Al was in goal for them it would have been 2-6 at least!

  65. Samir

Gibson had 4 shit attempted shots before scoring that cracker.

Why can’t we try more shots?
If you don’t try them you won’t get them…Simple as.

  66. Stu

Not just saying this because of today but a cheeky january bid for Sorensen wouldnt go amiss. International class GK who is pretty consistent in goal.

  67. Stu

If not for some shit first touches today Arshavin could have had a hattrick.

Samir, shooting from distance means that if you dont score you will lose the ball. And we all know our players love to keep the ball.

  68. SharkeySure

Stu…Sorensen has been in my dream team from day 1. Schwarzer is another decent keeper.

Reg, Course I’d have Given ahead of Al, who wouldn’t..?? I think Given is a typically ‘busy’ keeper playing behind a porous defense.

Our keepers need great concentration – Mad Jens was a master at that.

Right now I’d stick Fabianski in ahead of Al, I was surprised Al was picked today

  69. reggie57

Is that right Rosicky injured again? time to cast him to one side,we are a football club not a fuckin retirement home!!

  70. leon

stu i have for a team that does spend alot but spend huge amounts on wages,in the past you have been very critical of players like diaby song and delinson and wenger has rested his hopes on these players but its becomming pretty clear this team clearly needs some experienced top class players dont get me wroung song has done well for rookie but he not yet have nouse command the midfield and that has become very clear by the lack clean sheets and i dont its down to cb because gallas vern have looked realy good but aa a team dont defend well

  71. Stu

Me too Sharkey. Especially as Fabianski comes for the ball more confidently than Almunia does. In the first 10minutes or so Almunia flapped at one throw and shat himself when another one came right at him.

Amazing people are giving Given so much credit for the penalty save and his performance today. The 2 shots before the Ade OG were straight at him and a world class keeper would hold onto the 2nd shot, instead Given let it bounce off him and off Ade’s back into the goal

The penalty? The worst pen I have ever seen Lampard take, make that 2nd worse…

Given didn’t relieve pressure at all on his defenders. Never came out and flopped at a few crosses in the 6 yrd box.

No, vastly overrated and we’d be bashing him as much as we bash Almunia.

Almunia hasn’t had a performance as bad as Given Vs. United earlier this season. That was awful

  73. Stu

I have been critical of those players leon but i feel it was well deserved. THey play in a vital position in the team and have made some very costly mistakes. I agree that we badly need experience in there and that they are all improving but it has taken an awfully long time hasnt it.

  74. reggie57

I must admit the way Almunia lined up his wall against the chavs reminded me of a polish bricklayer!!

No offence against polish people meant!!

  75. SharkeySure

Long time Stu…dont let Geoff and afew of his pals brainwash you mate.

They bang on about Song and Den having had four years as if Flamini left in 2005 rather than 2007.

Last season was their first full season as first teamers imo.

Eboue was the best RB in Europe in 05/06, and lost his way a bit

  76. leon

stu i feel you have to remember these players should on the bench learning from top class players these players 21 22 23 not 26-28 years old these are boys learning they are trying there best but need tolearning from top class players.and this not problem that has crepped up this has glearing out problem for what 3-4 years

  77. Stu

No worries there Sharkey. I know they havent had that many years. But they have had more than enough time so its no suprise that their performances get better eventually.

Denilson spent a whole season starting in one of the most important positions and it did cost us a lot of points. Song also, in his first few months played as bad if not worse than a championship player before eventually upping his performances to average premiership player.

Diaby…Diaby…i have never really been a fan of his. Every since he had his ankle smashed by Dan Smith he has disappointed with his performances. Never really a starter or regular (because of his awful injury record and form) he only started to play seasonably well this season and then goes and gets injured again.

  78. SharkeySure

Stu – Den’s the only one that worries me…..alongside Song he’s sort of decent, without Song he really struggles imo.

Diaby has all the talent that he needs, and is a big effective lump even when hes not playing that well, so he has that to fall back on.

Oh and wastefulness is a word. Well it is now now that you’ve used it !!!

  79. Stu

I know this leon but they arent on the bench are they. Just because they should be there doesnt mean they are exempt from getting stick for playing badly. They are playing in the first team of a top class team and their performance levels should reflect that.

They are at the club because they are apparently good enough. They should play better if they want to keep their places.

  80. reggie57

Saved our arses in the first leg and then threw the game in the second leg Sharkey, thats why he will never be a top class GK imo!!

  81. leon

stu bottom line if this manu or chelsea i feel ramsey delinson song diaby would ball be on the bench both teams have at least 2-3 top class midfielders and we dont maybe 1-2 at the most

  82. Stu

Sharkey, imo Denilson is playing in the wrong league. The prem is mostly about strength, power, pace and other physical attributes. Given that he is a defensive player, not having those attributes means he will probably fail without someone (like Song) next to him.

He would be much better suited to somewhere like Spain where its less about the body and more about the mind..he is very good at reading the game but over here he gets outmuscled far too easily.

  83. SharkeySure

Thats Tru, Stu…good on you…la la la di da

Reg…don’t start me on the 2nd leg !!!

Gibbs slip was unfortunate, but Al letting Ronaldo score from 90(!) yds was fucking criminal. But some people tell me that weren’t his fault – I dont get that

  84. leon

stu sorry i just dont agree with that at all they are trying there best and sometimes they will be inconsistant its like asking ramsey to play at the level of gerard every week and is 18 year old boy he be extremly gifted but expecting to play at that kind level every single week is unfair presure wenger is putting undue presure un some of these young boys when when playing such a team we hardend pros 27-29 out there not boys

  85. SharkeySure

    Anyway ladies…thats me done.

I’ll be out watching my son’s U9s football team in the morning. They have a blistering keeper in little Jacob, and a midfield powerhouse, my son Oliver !! ;-)

    Night all…

  86. Stu

Leon, i never asked Ramsey to play like Gerrard every week.

But Diaby s 23 now and Denilson and Song are first teamers. And as such they should play to the level of expectation whenever they do play.

They are considered good enough to play week in week out. Therefore they should play well the majority of the time. Not good 1 week shite next week.

  87. Honest Bill

I’ll play in goal for us. i have many skills. I can dive left and right. and also kick the ball. I wouldn’t demand astronomical wages. Just enough to keep my dog in pink garments for the rest of it’s life.

The fact that we have lost against our direct rivals this season signifies that we are not very good. We are not good on set-pieces because we don’t have many tall players – every other team has an advantage over us in this area.

“They were much stronger than us when it came to physical power. Had we possessed a tall player then things would have been better for us. We had nobody capable of holding on to the ball. We played good football against all these top teams but that is not enough.

    - Andre Arshavin

    Pat

Youre talking out of the wrong end of your anatomy. Seriously.

And to think someone on here said that Almunia is on par with Shay Given. Wow.

Given makes saves consistently when the chips are down and you need him to make a save. The cross argument is utter and complete bollocks.

When the chips are down and you need your Stopper to make a save to pull out a win that is Shay Given. THats what happened today. Thats why he won MOTM.

    Simple.

I have been making noise about buying a big striker since the second Ade left in the summer. And most on here told me off.

We dont need a striker. We have Eduardo. We have Bentdner. We have Vela. We have Arshavin. We have Rosicky.

Really the fact that you people are just waking up to the height and physicality problems is a direct consequence of the Wenger delirium.

  91. ethangunner

dave id settle for given any day over Al .
our team will be miles better with a quality keeper alone !

but if we got a veteran DM and a class striker then i feel we could push for silverware ..

also wenger needs to stop fielding minimum spec sides V’s the opposition .. its a time bomb !

and if you are fielding an inexperienced line up make sure you have 3 or 4 quality subs who can change the game into a salvageable situation ! not have your bench even weaker than the starting line up !

  92. SUGA3

Speaking about the Quarter-Final defeat, Wenger explained that the match taught his younger players some vital lessons.

“[They learnt] that a lot of possession is not enough,” he said. “You need to be efficient in the final third and that’s basically what they missed at Man City.

“When you’re 17 or 18 you think that you can play at this level.

“I think most of the players can play at this level but it’s part of the learning process as well to see that it’s not as easy as it looks and it’s important that you realise that sometimes at 17 or 18 because the nature of youth is impatience.”

fucking hell, I could tell Wenger that myself without getting embarassed by Shitty…
