Kolo is struggling with his form and they hope to get Ade’s back as well, sound familiar?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

How funny is that then! The £40 million Hughes has spent on two of our rejects have both lost their form and it’s not even Christmas yet! Serves the bastard right. He says they have both lost their form but he hopes it will return tonight, now where have we heard that before???

He also said ‘Some clubs won’t go into the market and spend £5million on an 18-year-old. Arsenal have done that on many occasions. They spend significant amounts of money on young talent and, at times, the experience of the so-called youngsters is greater than you would think’

Wenger is often lauded for his frugal transfer dealings, but Hughes insists that a massive amount of money is instead spent by the north Londoners on acquiring young players from around the world.

Well thats what I’ve been saying for two years, so he’s right there, he claims Arsene says he doesn’t spend on big players because he likes to bring on the youngsters, but it’s a false economy because by the time they get good, we could have bought a ready made that would have worked years ago.

Take Theo, Ramsey and Denilson, between them they cost £16.5 million, add the money they have cost in salaries and then you can work out how much they have really cost, and none of them are regulars, we could have signed 3 world class players and got change out of that and they would have been ready to go 4 years ago. And yes, that included the £4mil discount Southampton gave us.

Anyway, lets hope the kids do us proud tonight and that the rejects have another shit game. Wenger also claims the experience the kids get from the Carling Cup is invaluable, he cites Fabregas, Bendtner, Song and Theo as examples of how that benefits the team, I’m not sure what benefit we got on Sunday, I’m not sure what benefit the kids get from playing 3 games in a cup they eventually get knocked out of, but there you go.

I can’t see how bringing them into the first team occasionally is any different, at least if the first team played in the Carling Cup, we would possibly win something, the Chavs will field their top team, shitty will tonight, the Mancs will by the time the final comes, but we won’t and I cannot see how getting beaten eventually will help our youth players develop.

Still let’s hope they go out tonight and stuff the northern chavs, let’s hope they show the first team what a bunch of losers they were against the southern chavs, and let’s hope we see someone in there, that can can step up, because what we have in the first team is not enough to win anything this season.

Go the kids, good luck, you have the hope of a nation on your young shoulders!

Have a great day Grovers and let’s hope we have a great evening as well! I could do with something to smile about!

Well Gambon, if he doesn’t sign anyone, it isnt because he can’t see we need to strengthen. Its more likely that the board propaganda machine isn’t really letting onto us fans the real financial position of the club. Maybe they really do fear this football recession and are keeping a rather large nest egg for a stormy period, who knows. We don’t because all we ever do is guess.

AW knows enough about football to realise that we won’t ever win the league (or even a cup) with the team we currently have right now. Not a chance.

  2. Big Raddy

Surely it is better if the Chavs go through. Then their players have another two high intensity games.

Who cares who wins the CC. Who won it last year??

  3. WB

one of the biggest problem with our team is that once we are a goal or two down,it never looks like that we are trying to come back in game.
i think wenger have collected a bunch of loosers,i never see anyone desperate for a win.

  4. SUGA3

    not so ha ha, AA…

losing in pens is not the same as getting spanked in 90 mins, so the joke’s on us I’m afraid…

  5. Franchise

suga3 channel some joy from chavs loosing. there is really nothing much we can d. wenger calls the shot. life is too short

  6. SUGA3

oh fuck that, sure I’m happy Chavs lost as well ;)

thing is, there is a simple solution to this problem – monsters, but AW can’t handle them, can he?

  7. tenerife gerry

That was an amazin bunch of plop

    We were inferior to shit.

We have no arsenal fans in our team

We have no mix of experience and youth

We have no mix of Londoners and Exotics

We have no balance of success and gift

We have no balance of strenght and talent.

I love Arsenal yet we are weak, faulted, predictable and second raters

  8. SharkeySure

big Raddy…might I respectfully highlight a point from your earlier post..??

“AW said the game was not a high priority. He didn’t bullshit them. They went because they support the Arse through thick & thin”

Thats it for everyone….moan as much as we want but we’ll all die supporting Arsenal. There’s no alternative.

  9. GoonerGaz

Wenger was pissed at hughes the second he stepped out of his allocated area to throw a ball to one of his players. Wenger flapped his arms and to me look like Hughes called Wenger a wanker (Fairly typical from Hughes) . Might explain the not shaking hands.

I was hoping to see Walcott play tonight, either down the right or through the middle, I can only assume Wenger is saving him for Stoke.

  10. SUGA3

on the positive side: I am happy for some players today, but I want them to get some protection – buy three big ugly fuckers, or these fairies will get the shit kicked out of them week in week out and no amount of throwing arms or kicking bottles will solve this ;)

  11. peachesgooner

Rosicky played like he was only there to make up the numbers – very poor.

The press are going to have a field day with Arsene not shaking Mark Hughes’ hand after the game – bad sport.

  12. Baxter Wall

same old tippy tappy going nowhere rubbish. why can’t we ever beat a player, i mean we never ever beat a player, we try to pass round them all the time.

  13. Gooby

our mission is to always support the team. let’s forget about this one and focus on the prem, i have a good feeling the chavs will drop some point at the new year.

all behind our team. there are teams who won nothing but still they have supporters. we all love this club, i personally can’t tell why but i just can’t stand any other team and thats the way it works. up gooners!

  14. Baxter Wall

its important to have some contaxt i suppose. Our reserve were fairly comfortably beaten by a team costing £200m+ to assemble and held their own for 45 minutes. So it wasn’t all bad.

BUT that’s not the real question is it? The real question is why Arsene Wenger is allowed to get away with fielding a team in any competition that doesn’t cost £200m+ to assemble as well?

  15. Gooby

    and in rosicky case.

when a player returns from long term injury he shines in the first games, and his level drops for a while, before he regain usual form. i m sure rosicky is still recovering and will come good, cause he is a great player

  16. gnarleygeorge9

To coin a phrase by a famous manchurian
    “That Joke isn’t funny anymore”

Enough is enough with the powers that be @ The Club. They have access to bundles of cash, spend it & piss this youth policy up the………….

  17. kirby

i’m worried that we won’t come back from sunday, not this one. we always were going out with the team he played tonight..

and bellamy blocked rosicky for the first goal although he lost the ball and played shit.

then song fell on his arse in a poor attempted tackle and tevez finished well.

  18. peachesgooner

Rosicky is just a footballer and this was a game of football that he should have wanted to win, he was in that team tonight to add his skills and experience – he had a a couple of good touches but on the whole he was not up for the fight.

He might be a great player but he didn’t show that tonight.

  19. Baxter Wall

thats what was hardest to take – it was the overall lack of fight..there was no temper involved, i wanted to see a red card for somebody taking Bellamys head off at least then you’d know they were hurting to lose.

It didn’t feel like they were playing for a place in the first team, it felt like it was a day out for one or two.

    No guts, no glory.

  20. Baxter Wall

Wenger does not understand that you don’t send a boy to do a mans job.

The reason Fabregas worked was because he had the heart and head of a man before he had the body of one.

None of these others, not one of them has that.

  21. David

Rosicky was a disgraceful example today. Absolute Waste of space. No forward movement. On and Off the ball.

Shockingly Tragic especially from a “Senior” player.

    talk about leading by example.

  22. David

    BW

Disagree with that. JW has alot of fight in him. He was 70% today.

Ramsey was played out of position because Rosicky was taking that space.

Not sure what the point of Eastmond was.

Honestly If we had a good winger that harassed Bridge we’d have looked half decent.

  23. Baxter Wall

Rosicky was also far too central totally got in Eastmonds way and threw his game, gave us no width and didn’t track back.

  24. Baxter Wall

JW is just too lightweight though. If he had any fight he’d have taken Bellamy AND song out rather than let bellend waltz through for the third.

  25. colonel mustard

Rosicky strolling back is f**kin burned into my brain…..Alan Smith was seething on Sky Sports. good on ya Smithy.

  26. colonel mustard

Wilshire is the only person to take some credit. our manager would want a reality check. you f***kin shake hands after a game. end of.

  27. Bozin

Guys, I didn’t see the game tonight, but were we that awful? I feel so empty by just looking at our results in recent weeks. We thrive to be better, yet we fail season after season. Why is Wenger so stubborn and won’t acknowledge that young players by themselves can’t win a tournament or a league.

Sorry for the negative energy, but I am extremely disappointed and I don’t even want to read the match reports. I got it taped though, I’ll check it out tomorrow.

  28. colonel mustard

the devotion to the younger players although admirable is fundamentally costing us season after season. its just not cutting it and it will be a miracle/fluke if we win anything. certainly not the league. ill tell you what. Id bring back Flamini in a heartbeat and take YaYa Toure while you at it. sweet lord 3 or 4 tough class pros would help us so so much….

  29. Baxter Wall

My one abiding memory of tonight is when Bellamy and JW squared up. You wanted a senior Arsenal player to step in and tell BellEnd that any more trouble and he’d be sorted out, sadly we had no-one.

    We need an enforcer.

  30. Lou

Arsene is looking like a man out of phase with what is happening in today’s football and is leaving himself precious little wriggle-room. By adopting his present strategy of not buying established top quality players and relying so heavily on bringing youngsters through he may have improved the financial balance of the club but I have this horrible feeling that his admittedly high ideals are catching up with him. The last few weeks have been a wake-up for me and it seems very evident to these eyes that it aint working. I will refrain from going into a long and somewhat tedious list of who is and who isn’t good enough or which players will or won’t make it. But, as a Wenger admirer, I am feeling that January will be important. But then I’ve thought that every transfer window for the past 3-4 years have been equally so and I’ve always felt that we were short. I have that sinking feeling of deja-vu and I don’t think it’s a knee-jerk reaction.

  31. colonel mustard

I did’nt really care about the result. its our shitty attitude thats kills me. if more senior players had got injured we would have gone mental. song picked up another yellow so will serve a suspension.

  32. AA23

If you fancy cheering yourselves up go over to the one of the Manc forums. They are giving it the large one because their best team beat our under 12′s.
Poor cunts their team has all that arab dough and most of those slags cant even afford shoes.
When’s our next champions league match?

  33. Pat

Wilshere looks a fiery character. As a player, I love Bellamy. I want players like that on my team. Absolute fucking cunts that give their all.

Wilshere seems like he has Rooney’s passion.

  34. Pat

I wouldn’t even say City were that impressive. 1st half they were better, ye I believe they scored against the run of play in the 2nd. Especially true for the 2nd goal.

Hard to take consecutive 3-0 defeats when they don’t tell the whole story.

We’ve had 3 goals in 2 games go off that same post/bar. Really unlucky if you ask me.

If RVP or one of our players were to take those shots, they’d hit the bar and stay out knowing our luck

  35. iceman

Wenger cuts an isolated figure now.
    How he must miss Dein.
Sorry AW but you brought this on to yourself.
All you had to do was recruit a max of 2 more players after Vermaelan.
    You reap what you sow.
In this case we the fans are paying for it too.
    Thanks alot. Muppet!!

  36. gnarleygeorge9

3 losses on the trot to domestic opposition, having scored no goals, thats zero, a big fat naught, & having conceded 7 goals. The state of The Club is dire, yet a win against Stoke this weekend & all our problems will be cast aside by Willy Wonker Wenger.

At what point will it be that someone of influence @ The Club says enough is enough.

  37. AA23

Surely Wenger must realise that it’s gone wrong now? He has to know.
Maybe he has known for a while that we dont have the depth to last a full season.
Maybe he risked key players not getting injured again thinking
“surely this year our luck cant be that bad again…”
Maybe he knows what we all know?
The question is can he act on it now and admit defeat?
or is he just too stubborn?
If I was him I’d spend absolutely every single penny we have and say “fuck it, I’m fucked anyway”
Maybe he’ll do it this time?
    He must know.

  38. iceman

Yeah but we all know in Jan your options are limited.
We had the whole summer…no wait…we had the whole summer plus 40m from citeh…seriously he’s smarter than that?

  39. Geoff

Like I said after the Fulham game last season, the Emperor has no clothes.

It’s time we got OUR club back, it’s not Wengers.

  40. dennisdamenace

Hey Arsene! Was not shaking the opponents hand The Arsenal Way? The Arsenal Way you keep naming on about, what a show of petulance, and what a great example to show our young players!!

Once again I’m embarrased by Arsene, this time by his actions and his rhetoric – “I shake hads with whom I choose” pathetic, grow up you child,

  41. Baxter Wall

So go the whole hog Geoff. Call for his head, start the campaign. You are probably the most influencial Arsenal blogger around, if you don’t do it, who will?

  42. Geoff

I said the problem with Wenger is his ridiculous policy will end up with him going, and his legacy will be not of someone who did great things, but of an intransigent twit.

His fault. He said where would he get a chance to play his kids if it wasn’t for the Carling Cup, err, the reserves?

  43. Baxter Wall

fate is calling you Geoff. Today’s headline MUST be, WENGER MUST GO.

You’re right, its time to get our club back.

  44. dennisdamenace

I implore all season ticket holders to boycott one home game at the same time to show our dissatisfaction with the direction of our club.

  45. Geoff

Trouble is boys, if I started making noises I would have every arsehole and his dog on telling me what a cunt I was and how dare I.

Then I read the press today and we are being linked with another 17 year old, I find it a little disturbing to be honest, then we’ll wait 5 years to find out he’s Carlos Vela and not Messi.

    And he’s costing £5mil.

  46. Baxter Wall

Geoff. I’m with you and others would be too.

The men through history that you admire, did they not have the courage to lead the charge?

  47. Baxter Wall

C’mon Pedro then, show us you’re not really the festival going liberal weakling that cried when Obama won! Bring the heat!

  48. Big Raddy

    Geoff.

Whilst understanding your annoyance (and mine!). It must be pointed out that AW has stated over the past 4 seasons that the CC means nothing to Arsenal.

As far as I can see, last night was just a training run out for a few first teamers – Mozart will have done himself no favours – and a game with the big boys for some kids.

To criticize AW for playing a weakened team is OK, but to call for his head is IMO an over-reaction.

2 pony games (Chavs / Subn) does not make AW a chump. There is clear progress in this team who are struggling with the loss of their two main strikers.

    We will come good.

  49. Baxter Wall

Raddy, i understand your restraint, but its not about one game so i must respectfully disagree.

Wenger is starving this club of oxygen.

  50. AngeAusArsenal

Big Raddy i agree with you most of the time and to an extent still do, but when you’ve painted youreslf into a corner like Arsene has all that’s left is his idoiotic pride. If he all of a sudden decided to spend big on ready made players he would be admitting that the last 4 years have been a failure and a failed experiment.
Being in Australia insulates me somewhat from the hype and passion that the likes of Geoff and Pedro go thru and its testament to their belief and love of the club that they keep this up, more power to them and hopefully we will look back on this period soon and say remember when we couldn’t win a thing.

  51. AngeAusArsenal

i dont think Arsene can change now so i think he will be given 3 choices by the board (hopefully)
1)Stop the experiment, have some cash and buy some ready made players
    2)Stand down or
    3)Be fired.

  52. Big Raddy

We have won it Iceman. And on more than one occasion.

OK it was called something else… Milk Cup/Littlewoods Cup/League Cup etc etc.

In fact one of my worst Arsenal memories was watching us lose to Luton at Wembley.

  53. Chipo

The amusing thing for me last night is that he says that the CC means nothing to him, and yet he storms off down the tunnel and refuses to shake Hughes’ hand.
    Pathetic if you ask me.

  54. iceman

Yeah think I remember something to do with Littlewoods…

Yesterdays loss probably had the worst timing ever…

Talk about kicking a dog when he’s down eh…

  55. Big Raddy

    Chipo.

If someone aggressively calls you a wanker in front of millions of people, do you shake his hand 20 minutes later?

It has nothing to do with AW’s valuation of the CC.

SFA would have chinned the ugly Northern Monkey

  56. gnarleygeorge9

Gooners get pissed off about how the press & opo fans perceive The Arsenal, but the reasons were there to be seen against Chelski & now City.

  57. insidealbania

Big Raddy – I think I’m with you on this one. I hope Pedro doesnt take it out on the players in his match report. The team that played yesterday had no chance of winning. AW clearly doesnt care about winning this competition. Also some of the comments here during the game were pure crazy, where do all these people come out from during games??

  58. insidealbania

Yeah screw Hughes, he squares up to AW and then pretends nothing happened. I remember him as a player and he was a dirty bastard. Nothing has changed, we should never forget he was a manc scum.

  59. stonroy

I don’t know what it does for the kids confidence to take a pasting like that, only to tell them that they are further away from the first team than they actually are.

  60. Chipo

    I have a question:

Would it have been more damaging to our season to play a reserve team and lose, or to send our full-strength team up there, make lots of noises about how seriously you are taking the game, and lose?

I think Wenger picked the easy option.

Going there and losing with a full XI would’ve killed us.

I’m pretty nervous about Stoke on Saturday to be honest.

  61. Odub

I just hope no one comes on here today and starts telling me about positives after my team got beat 3-0 twice in 5 days… Not in the mood.

  62. stonroy

Yeah he should have shaken the twats hand. It’s just the way it’s done, he comes across as petty. You can’t go on with this moral high and mighty and then when you loose it all pisses off.

  63. stonroy

The thing is, I don’t think using Eduardo up front would have made a difference, we needed a Bendtner type player…Notice I didn’t say Bendtner.

  64. Chipo

Stonroy i completely agree – someone said to me “why didn’t you have your impact players on the bench?”

    Errr who?

    Eduardo? Nasri?

Cesc and Walcott could’ve made a difference.

Rosicky was utter filth last night.

  65. Odub

We needed to chase/change the game and we bring on Watts!!! Not having a go at any of those lads, they gave their all (apart from Rosicky), I blame Wenger for picking the team and not having any decent backup on the bench.

  66. Maciek

Chipo. I hear You mate. I also think that we CAN lose against Stoke, especially with Denilson bossing our midfield. He is so crap.

  67. stonroy

It’s quite funny the perception of Arsenal being a powerhouse, but you loose RVP and all of a sudden we say who do we have now? We have no one else strong enough to lead the line, go back to his goals against Chelsea last year, who else on the team could have made that first goal? Nobody

  68. stonroy

I like Watt, one day he will be quality Odub, but not one of our players can play up top on their own, the only one who could is injured.

  69. Maciek

Yes we are unlucky, but we do have to many average players. Expect 60000 people singing the same One Arsene Wenger crap song on Saturday. Big Club with loser menatality.

  70. Chipo

Well at least Song is suspended so he can’t play both. He will have to go for it.

p.s. see my 14.56 post for a perfectly predicted line-up!

p.p.s. i will try and do it again

Almunia (i think Fab should play but he won’t)

    Sagna Gallas TV Traore

    Nasri Cesc Denilson

    Walcott Eduardo Arshavin

I think the Stoke game is Eduardo’s last chance before Vela gets the nod.

  71. stonroy

It was great to see wilshire not ducking any challanges, it’s nice to see the fight back in the Arsenal, fuck we miss that passion for the cause.

  72. Geoff

This team is going nowhere because a lot of the players aren’t good enough, I’ve been saying it for two years, getting older doesn’t mean getting better.

Arsene Wenger is no Brian Clough, he’s done well and his teams play nice football, but I want my team to win, it’s time we had a manager that was made accountable, you know, like every other team in world football.

  73. Chipo

Stonroy we lost our 2 main strikers, not just Van Persie. A lot of people seem to want to ignore how much Bendtner brings to the team.

Against Spurs (full strength minus Theo), Bendtner started.

We had a front three of Nikb, RVP and Arshavin and we won. Funny that.
