There’s nothing wrong with signing promising youngsters. Examples likes Lansbury and Pennant are irrelevant: of course they won’t all make it. But on balance those that leave will still end up making us money, and a few will come through to the first team like Gibbs & Cesc. And when they do so, they’ll have Arsenal in their blood.
You can argue that we should sign more experienced players as well as youngsters, and I’d probably agree with you. To suggest that it’s one or the other is nonsense.

What is it with Arsenal and injuries? I mean, check this out…for the past few years, it seems we have been picking up injuries every 4th or 5th game, and a very serious injury every 10th game and a leg break every 15th.
In the past we have had leg breaks or some kind of bone fracture to Diaby, Clichy, Eduardo, Gibbs, Walcott and Nasri. Why does it happen to Arsenal more than any other top four team in the premiership?

On Vela – I kind of agree with ANR.
The point they are making is not just abut Vela but any young player.
If they get a run in the side, 4 or 5 in a row, and dont make an impact, dont improve, dont show signs of class then why do we need then.
Young players may excel in U16, U18 and even reserves, but the players we are after, should be able to make an impact against Chelsea in the EPL, otherwise why do we have them?
I personally think Vela will make it, he has shown some real class in the Carling Cup, but he needs to go to the next level for Arsenal to prove his worth.
Mark we have 3 marmites in the team that have had years of having chances, now they are improving and getting man of the match status by some (not me) so that logic says that we would have to give Vela 3 years of chances.

Wenger said he wants him to eventually become a striker and he is learning his trade on the wing. Theo himself wants to be a striker.
So you gotta ask the question, although at 20 he is still young, when will he get the chance to learn his trade in the role we bought him to eventually dominate in – as a striker?

A&N – I think Theo tries too hard. I think to become a top player he needs to play basic football then understand when to go run at defenders. Basically mix it up a bit…..he seems bit one dimensional
walcott’s problem is that he never makes the good decision. he has poor vision on the pitch but if he calms down a bit he may find a way.
Theo for me is too one dimensional. The guy has no trick and doesn’t link up well with the forwards. He has the potential to rectify this but has to stay injury free and get regular football. If only he can learn a trick or two to go past players…. its so frustrating watching him play sometimes, does the same shit as Eboue without the diving.

Yeah Rob, Diaby hasn’t won any games single handedly, but has played a very important role in us being through in the champions league and up there in the league. Song has been one of our best players imo, Diaby has been a good player who’s given us balance, and contributed to team performances.
Vela is very talented, but his development has been massively stifled by his international duties and injuries, if he stays fit and available now he could be a very important player f or us.
When we play Chelsea , we win games through defense and not attack

goalkeeping fro Fabianski, and poor defending from eboue and silvestre all equally to blame imo Rob. The league game last year we tore them apart in the first half hour, looked like we could hammer them, then got battered!

Seeing as Nasri is twice the player he is out wide when played in the middle, as he doesnt give us any width
His role will be exactly as it was against Liege Rob, playing deeper than Song, reading the game and covering the spaces behind giving Song freedom to use his power to break the play further up the pitch.

i think this clash will define the season 4 us, we win it we will get the confidence we need .I personally feel it will only highlight that we are missing 2 experienced strikers ..

we need a top class striker who can beat a top class defense . that was the problem with ade , he was never clinical enough when against stiff competiton .

While doing a quick search for some statistics for the upcoming Arsenal V Chelsea game on Sunday I came across an article on the official Chelsea website that attacked Arsene Wenger’s professionalism.
This is part of what was written

His unprofessional reaction came in response to suggestions that his players will aim to be fit for next summer’s World Cup. Robin van Persie, Gael Clichy, Johan Djourou, Abou Diaby and Nicklas Bendtner were already ailing.
Now you expect sly little digs like that from sites like this or blogs or the tabloids but not from the official website.
Once clubs start going down that road against opponents managers it will open up the flood gates and in fact the whole article was a terrible twist on facts and subtle digs at Arsenal and their season to date.

All well and good until you look in to away stats which is required considering Chelsea are the away team, I mean they never did mention that 7 of the 8 Chelsea goals conceded came away from home, they never mentioned that is one less than Stoke and only four fewer than Pompey.
They also never mentioned that Chelsea have lost 33% of their away games in the league while Arsenal have won 100% of their league home games.
Point is, that article and I remind you again it was on their official website twisted facts and attacked Wengers professionalism, this from the team that brought Jose Mourinho to these shores.
Seems to us that Chelsea need to have a look at themselves and what is published on their official website before they attack anyone else of being unprofessional.

Geoff, I just read your post. I’ve gotta say, I fear that Dogpoo &/or anelka have a goal in them, so we must score some. We have 2 keys to unlock the chavs, Theo & AA23, running @ them, etc. I’ve just got this feeling that eduardo on the end of some of runs out wide could be the thing that tilts this fixture The Arsenal’s way. Combine that with Mozart & Nascar, with Cesc covered by everyones favourite DCM Sing-a- we might just do it. We have to do it, its as simple as that. No points from a possible 6 or even one point(I’m including the Sunderland fizzer)will spell doom IMHO
I see anelka has come out & said winning The Title with the chavs would be sweeter than the 1998 Arsenal Title.
I think that’s because he only really played half the season GG9.
Apparently, he scored six goals in 26 League appearances (including ten as a sub) in the 97/98 season.
