They played it like a cup tie, so should have you Arsene.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So we get the usual rhetoric from Arsene, we lacked sharpness, they wanted it more, we didn’t get behind their defence and now he says they played it like a cup tie.

Well Arsene, so should we, when you have a number of players in your team that earn in excess of £60k a week, they should play every game like it was a cup tie, every game, if we want to win something, it’s time we played each game like it counted, because you know what? It does.

We had a chance to send the chavs a message, the only message we sent them was all you have to do to beat us is shut us down.

All this on the weekend the spuds draw level with us, what a shit weekend, the only thing that made life worth living was Lee Westwood and the English cricket team.

Tomorrow we have the chance to get back to winning ways, but we’ll win that, we are playing a very poor team and I expect to see a lot of fringe players staking their claim to a place.

What was apparent against Sunderland was we should have replaced Ade-the-whore, you can’t lose a big lump like that and not replace him, maybe we’ll sign Numbchucks or someone in the window, if history has taught us anything, it’s we will always end up with more injured players than fit ones, unless of course we get into a final, then they’ll all mysteriously get better. AKA Ashley Cole.

Kolo Toure became the latest bitter ex-player this weekend, when on some kind of show with his brother he dissed an Arsenal player for getting him dropped, he also said he would have been happy to see out his career at Arsenal.

I don’t know whether I’m annoyed with Kolo for bitching, or annoyed with Arsene for allowing the French mafia to influence the team, one thing is for sure, I do believe it happened.

Anyway, with the sour taste of the weekend behind us, lets hope we score a hatful tomorrow and smash the chavs on Sunday, for me nothing else will ease the pain.

If we don’t beat the chavs at home, our premiership hopes will be over by Sunday night, not wishing to be negative, but that’s the reality, I mentioned money at the start of the evening, I really don’t think Arsene realises how much £60k a week is, and when you earn that, not being sharp shouldn’t be an option, every game should be a cup final, every game.

It is to us! Have a great day Grovers, don’t read the papers and get ready for the spuds new DVD, it should be out by about 5pm today.

exactly BBK, so if come the new year, and we are still in the same position we are in now, then I think we have a good shout for the EPL. It doesnt mean we will win, but to be challenging all the way may be on the cards this season.

  2. Nick

sharkey i agree  drop those links out mate ffs we all think its sick and would like to personally castrate them

Why Mr.B ? You haven’t made the point over any of the countless racist or sexist jokes before.

I found your comment anti- Semitic and racist.

Personally, I find it worrying that you know about these websites.

  4. insidealbania

lets wait and see BBK, I think we will still be in the mix come April. Could be worse though, imagine being in Liverpool’s position , you know, this year being their year and all

Man Trapped In 23-Year ‘Coma’ Was Conscious
    1:10pm UK, Monday November 23, 2009

    Alex Watts, Sky News Online

An engineering student thought to be in a coma for 23 years was actually conscious the whole time, it has emerged.

Houben’s case is likely to respark the right-to-die debate

Rom Houben was misdiagnosed as being in a vegetative state after a car crash left him totally paralysed.

For the whole time, he was trapped in his own body with no way of letting friends and family know he could hear every word they were saying.

The 46-year-old, who can now tap out computerised messages and read books on a device above his hospital bed, has revealed: “I screamed, but there was nothing to hear.

“All that time I literally dreamed of a better life. Frustration is too small a word to describe what I felt.

“I shall never forget the day when they discovered what was truly wrong with me – it was my second birth.

“I want to read, talk with my friends via the computer and enjoy life now people know I am not dead.”

I shall never forget the day when they discovered what was truly wrong with me – it was my second birth.

    Rom Houben

His misdiagnosis was discovered by neurological expert Dr Steven Laureys, who fears there may be similar cases all over the world.

He looked at Mr Houben’s case again at the University of Liege, Belgium, using state-of-the-art imaging that showed the patient was aware of what was happening around him even though he had lost control of his body.

Dr Laureys, who leads the Coma Science Group, was unavailable for comment when contacted by Sky News Online.

He told the Daily Telegraph: “In Germany alone each year some 100,000 people suffer from severe traumatic brain injury.

“About 20,000 are followed by a coma of three weeks or longer. Some of them die, others regain health.

    Dr Steven Laureys

“But an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 people a year, remain trapped in an intermediate stage: they go on living without ever come back again.”

Rom, a martial arts enthusiast who remains in constant care at a facility near Brussels, was repeatedly wrongly assessed in Zolder, Belgium, by doctors using technology available at the time.

They used the internationally accepted Glasgow Coma Scale to assess his eye, verbal and motor responses. But each time he was graded incorrectly.

The disclosure is likely to renew the right-to-die debate over whether people in comas are truly unconscious.

There have been several cases where people in deep comas have recovered.

Carrie Coons, 86, from New York, regained consciousness 20 years ago.

Days before her recovery, a judge had granted a request for the removal of her feeding tube which had been keeping her alive.

Did I miss something, did someone call me a coward? Ha, ha, they wouldn’t want to meet me in a dark alley!

Obviously he is deluded, perhaps he should call himself Napoleon, or Emperor, or did he already do that?

    Prick.

  8. Eastside Gooner

I am distressed at what Wenger is saying and the Arsenal board is doing in regards to new deals for Gallas, Rosicky, and Vela. I don’t think these three are the future so why tie them down to long term deals. Let’s look at Gallas. If he were to leave he would go to a lesser team than Arsenal so he should be playijng his ass off to stay. Bring in another top, top CB and push Gallas and Vermaelan for a starting berth. How on earth can Rosicky get a new deal after we have paid him for two years of being injured and then missing guilt edged chances like the one against Sunderland. He is an older player now and should be leading the team when he plays but hasn’t and doesn’t. He epitomizes Arsenals fragility and technique without bottle over the last four years. As for Vela. I don’t see it. Bar a couple phenomenal Carling Cup games whenever he has come on he looks lost and can’t hold the ball up. I want all the forwards to be able to retain possession and take pressure off the defense. That’s why we lost on Sat. Nobody up top could hold on to the ball and then we had no width because Nasri and Rosicky pinched into the center of the pitch. So infuriating to watch basic fucking tactical mistakes and a lack of discipline by professionals.

  9. David

    Jeez.

I thought it was monday? All these jokes…make’s me think its friday or something

I see we might be “lacking a bit of sharpness”

  10. Big Raddy

Eastside I respectfully disagree completely. I would give all 3 new contracts.

Even assuming your assertions as to their value to the team are correct (which I don’t), there is a clear economic reason for getting them to extend their contracts. Why let TR, Vela or (to a lesser extent) Gallas leave on free’s? Surely they have value? I think that between them we could raise at least €10m.

  11. Big Raddy

    Night All.

I find myself being too contrary tonight. Perhaps I need a drink ( or better yet a “cuddle” with the wife)

bad day at the office, learning to cope without rvp as well, it’s not the end of the world. a couple of good results next and will be right as rain again. always look on the bright side…

A bear with a torch in a dark alley. Now that I Would like to see.

On that note, I am off, have a goodnight Grovers.

  14. David

    EastSide

I think Gallas is deserving of a 1 year extension. As is Mozart.

Vela is back up for Edaurdo. And he can play as a winger as well.

Is it the right time to give players extentions.

Well that is where i will disagree with Monsieur Wenger.

But i believe he’s doing it now in anticipation that all our players will have a stellar season and clubs will be after them.

A bit over optimistic (and unrealistic) but that just how the last couple years have been innit?

    ==================

Yes. Hence which is why some of us cried foul when Wenger refused to replace Ade. RVP is injury prone ffs. What happnd if/when he got injured?

    Exactly.

Nasri/Rosicky more creative than direct players.

But u have to understand that they were fresh and didnt go to the Internationals.

Personally id have stared with Theo.

    I’d always start with Theo.

  16. Mr B

Anyways I was watching the Manure highlights and was wondering how a starless team like them manages to do so well. Heres what ive comeup with.

    1. I think they do a lot more homework on the opposition and figureout how to exploit their weeknesses.

    2. They make much better use of setplays than us.

    3. They are better at closing teams down and defending in general.

    what do u all think.

  17. gunnergetyou

i cant believe i was ever deluded enough to think that our team of bottlers were strong enough to finish above chelsea, Its always the same old story with Arsenal. So far this season we have failed each major test, but have been papering over the cracks by destroying weaker opposition. Apart from Spurs we have’nt beaten decent teams.

Wenger tells the world that we hate november because we cant cope with the demands, too many injuries, too many internationals etc. Maybe we should be more prepared for these situations.

Appologies for the negativity, had to get it off my chest. Still fuming after that terrible result.

  18. Mr B

    :) Peds ur still here.

I wana apolagize for my rant and what I said about loosing respect for U.

I didnt in anyway mean that U were a pedophile or a Child Porn consumer.

I just felt that joking about such issues makes them seem acceptable, im sorry if that I went so far.

    please forgive me :(

  19. Pedro

I was on the phone Mr B…

    No problem.

I think there are plenty cruder jokes that go off on here… that was the tamest one I could find.

I’m more annoyed at the others for saying it wasn’t funny… it was funny you bastards!

BBK 16:57. Re winning the FA Cup: ” i would be very happy if that happend”
HAPPY!! A HAPPY BBK. I really hope we dont win it. I like you the way you are, but we better have that in writing anyway!!

  21. Mr B

    aww pedro.

anyways I was just reading about prejudices against blondes and was considering not posting any blonde jokes again.

Later all and cheer up Arsenal loosing is not the end of the world.

  22. Pedro

Mr B, I’ve lived the through blonde discrimination… it’s a serious matter… thanks for holding back on the jokes.

  23. SUGA3

Micky, even as a pisstake saying to hope we won’t win any trophy is bordering on blasphemy

I am still fucking gutted after the Saturday shambles – fuck me, no application, no going the extra mile and stupid persistence with 4-3-3 without having the right players to do the job…

jubilant Spuds at work did not help one tiny bit either…

fuck me, how do you not start rested players with a point to prove (TW14, CV12) instead of Rosicky & Nasri? having no RvP like striker, who is the heartbeat of the front 3 did not help – don’t get me wrong, but Dudu is just not the same (no Rvp’s pace), but somehow works brilliantly with Vela, but to have them both on the pitch at the same time is just too much to ask, eh?

  24. SharkeySure

Can I just squeeze this one in Mr B…??

80,000 Blondes gathered at Wembley Stadium for a “Blondes-Are-Not-So-Dumb” convention. The master of ceremonies says, “We are all here today to prove to the world that blondes are not so dumb. Can I have a volunteer?”

One pretty little blonde steps up, so the master of ceremonies asks her, “What is 15 plus 15?” After 15 or 20 seconds, she replies, “18.” Obviously everyone is a little disappointed. Then 80,000 blondes start chanting, “Give her another chance, give her another chance.”

The master of ceremonies says, “Well, since we’ve gone to the trouble of getting 80,000 of you here along with media from all over the world, I guess we can give her another chance.” So, asks her, “What is 5 plus 5?” After 15 or 20 seconds, she replies, “90.”

The master of ceremonies sighs. Everyone is crestfallen and the blonde starts crying. Again, the 80,000 girls start chanting, “Give her another chance, give her another chance.” Unsure whether or not he is doing more harm than damage, the master of ceremonies finally says, “Okay! One more chance. What is 2 plus 2?” After 15 or 20 seconds, she replies, “4.”

The stadium of 80,000 blondes start chanting, “Give her another chance, give her another chance.”

  25. SUGA3

well, I think we are in with a chance to beat Chavs, as it is supposedly the ‘big’ game – we have a problem with getting the same kind of drive to play Sunderlans et al…

it’s like their attitude was like: ‘Oi gaffer, do we REALLY have to play these shitkickers?’

  26. SUGA3

    *Sunderland

we need a motivator, the bad cop as well as a few physical players, as our front six was ridiculously small on Friday…

how the fuck did we not buy Cana and Kenwyne Jones for a good measure?

  27. Samir

Kenwyne Jones would have been a brilliant replacement for Ade.
He does not go to the ACN and is not as much of a wan*er as Ade….

  28. Samir

I’m sure there are better player’s than Cana available however.
Wenger needs to do another “Vermaelen” on an amazing big, strong DM….

  29. SUGA3

well, Cana got the MOTM, it’s no mean feat to contain our midfield on form or not…

Wenger, however, has other ideas: our most consistent and physical player fucks off to ACN? no worries, we have Diaby and Denilson…

  30. A

SUGA he got MOTM because Sunderland won, Song was much much better on Saturday and is a far far better player imo. I’d rather Denilson than Cana too, he’s really not particularly good, hence his being at Sunderland! So many teams wanting a DM, yet noone wants him – it’s pretty telling….

Jones could never play for us, lets not be silly. Unless just as a plan B, and £15 mil for a plan B is too much, when Bendtner is far better anyways

  31. Stu

Replacing Ade like for like would have been pointless after changing the formation to 4-3-3 because Jones wouldnt suit a system based on movement and interchanging positions.

I wouldnt have said no to Cana tho…obviously at 5m.

  32. A

as another back up perhaps Stu, though I don’t think he’d have gone from being captain of his team to be very much a bit part player, which is the best he could’ve hoped for at us, or any big club

  33. SUGA3

Bendtner may develop into a better player than Jones, but is nowhere near ready and Jones is miles ahead at the moment…

Denilson on his own in DM with Diaby providing laughable physical cover will definitely be something to behold…

  34. A

Agreed Pat, Song completely schooled Cana, and we completely won the battle in midfield, hence us having 65% of the possession, and over double the number of passes as them! Those are absolutely ridiculous levels of dominating when it comes to possession! It’s just that Ramsey, Nasri, Rosicky, and Eduardo really weren’t sharp and couldn’t do anything with the ball when they got it.

  35. A

SUGA3 that’s a matter of opinion, imo Bendtner is better than Jones now, his all round game is far better. I don’t know what “ready” is, in terms of being starting Arsenal quality game in game out then I’d agree that Bendtner isn’t ready, but Jones is nowhere near ready either, and never will be that level….

Denilson providing the intelligent reading of the game and Diaby the physicality is absolutely fine for me, it should work very well. Denilson in this system with more cover shouldn’t be exposed as he was a couple of times last season.

  36. SUGA3

    A,

why does Wenger never (well, almost) make any substitutions during the break?

I reckon if we got TW14 & Vela on instead of useless on the day Rosicky & Nasri (midfielders, not strikers) for the whole second half we’d do more damage…

  37. Samir

    So Fabianski is back now.
All of Bendtner, Diaby and Clichy will be back in 3 weeks.
3 Weeks after that RVP will be back.
I wonder what team Wenger would pick if we had everyone fit for the Chelsea game? (Never will happen,Hope I’m wrong though)……

  38. A

Very few managers do make subs at half time SUGA, only if things are going REALLY wrong, and although we weren’t really creating, we were dominating possession totally, and there was no reason for panic. I disagree about bringing on both of those, we do best when we have one forward and one playmaker on the flanks, not two playmakers because there isn’t the same movement in behind, and not two forwards because there isn’t as much creativity and ball retention. I wouldn’t have minded one of them starting though with Arshavin out, as he counts as both a forward and a playmaker!

  39. Pat

Cana didn’t impress me at all. Eduardo rode a few challenges off himwhich is unacceptable of a supposed hardman. Eduardo is tiny

  40. A

Yeah, but he could never start a single game SUGA, because he would completely fuck up our whole system, much more so even than Ade did!

  41. SUGA3

Vela seems to work very well with Eduardo – if you see players like Rosicky & Nasri having an off day in the first half, you must sub one or both: a bit of bad cop shit, a kick in the arse…

  42. SUGA3

making double sub being a goal down stinks of panic…

making these subs during halftime at 0:0 upsets the opposition’s thinking and changes things…

  43. Pat

    SUGA, are you serious?

A talentless CF will disrupt our passing which is how we break teams down. Ade always fucked it up and he’s a better dribbler than Jones.

  44. Samir

Just saw the replay of the goal again and bloody hell…..
    Sagna was marking no-one.
Campbell was totally unmarked at the back post as well…..
Song went for the ball but missed his header.
We had two men on Bent (Vermy and Gallas) but neither dealt with him.

BTW Song’s ball to Arshavin straight after their goal was amazing. He got passed 3 and then delivered an exquisite ball!

  45. A

I agree SUGA3, when you’re a goal down you need to do something to change it, you need to take a risk…. At 0-0 at half time, dominating possession and territory totally there was no need to change it, the goal could have come.

SUGA3 our system is built around having 5 interchangable attacking players, all of whom can drift around and fill in anywhere rotating with each other, go out wide, come deep to pick the ball up, play others in, pass and move. All of these are things that someone like Jones would be TOTALLY incapable of. Adebayor wasn’t capable of them enough to keep him around, and play him in this system, but in those regards he’s FAR superior to Jones. Having a central striker who can’t rotate just stops the system from working, and we’d have to play a different way.

  46. SUGA3

would not agree that Jones is not talented – Terry said he is an absolute nightmare to play against ;)

miles better than Ade – he does not have to dribble, he has good positional sense, has quite a hit on him and his aerial ability is not too shabby either…

  47. A

yeah SUGA, he needs to pass, he needs good movement, he needs to be able to drop deep and act like a playmaker, those are all things that he’d be about as good at doing as Senderos

  48. SUGA3

Jones is much stronger and more agile than Ade, IMO – bigger physique, heavier, yet quick and imposing, plus he has got a much better attitude…

  49. Pat

He is talentless when it comes to modern day football. He can’t pass, doesn’t have intelligent movement, etc.

It’d be pretty pathetic if he wasn’t good in the air, considering his height.

  50. SUGA3

    come on, A – Senderos?

have you seen his goals he scored this season?

scored 5 so far, not bad, plus he made plenty of space for Bent…

  51. Samir

We need an Ibrahimovic kind of front-man atm IMO.
Not sure if Bendy is up for it atm.
He may grow into it though seeing he is so young.

  52. reggie57

A if our system is built around a 5 interchangable attacking formation why the fuck does almunia when he gets possesion kick it as far as he can to that giant of a forward called eduardo?

  53. Pat

reggie, its about pressuring the CBs and winning the 2nd ball. We don’t expect to win the 1st. If we win the 2nd, we score goals as seen many times this season already

  54. reggie57

No im not having that Jones is not good enough for modern day football crap, bendy or jones
    jones for me im afraid!!

  55. SUGA3

well, he is as agile as TT if not more and he has good movement – he scores a goal every two games in the Prem, playing for Sunderland, it’s not a bad record…

we sould make good use of a player like him – better buy than Chamakh…

  56. SUGA3

Jones is a fucking monster of a CF – if he does not score, he will make space for someone else – why do you think shitckicker like Bent scored fuckloads of goals in the Prem?

  57. Pat

Chamakh is better than Bendtner and Jones.

Chamakh is the best of all 3 in the air. On the ground, no contest. Only 1 player his size has better control/technique than him on the ground-Ibrahimovic.

  58. Pat

SUGA, Bent has been scoring goals for fun since he was with Charlton. He was Spurs top scorer as well. He is without a doubt a better forward than Jones.

  59. reggie57

If he can score a goal every two games for sunderland with that shit service, think how many he would get with the supply from our midfield?

  60. Pat

I don’t rate Ibra, but in terms of technique there is no target man better. And Jones isn’t even 1/10 as good as Ibra

  61. Pat

reggie, like Berba at united or Anelka at Chelsea? Both scored more at their respective shit clubs before they moved.

Fuller, Crouch, Carew, Kuyt, Davies, Agbonlahor all scored more than Jones last season. So did Bent

  62. SUGA3

I never got that whole hoo-hah about Ibra really – so he has been a star in fucking Serie A, so what?

never impressed me, neither for Inter nor for Sweden…

  63. Pat

Hmm, what about Santa Cruz. See what happened to him?

Kitson, Benjani, the list goes on. Players score more for shit clubs usually

  64. SUGA3

we are lacking a few battering rams really – play them for 55-60 minutes (one in the mid, one upfront), get the opposition tired, sub one or two with a twinkle toed favourite Time Bandit and there, problem solved

  65. Samir

Arsenal have been linked with another skillful French player.

It has been reported through French daily newspaper – L’Equipe that the Nice striker would favour a move from Ligue 1 to the Premier League club Arsenal.

The north London club will have to fight off stiff Premier League interest from both Everton and Sunderland who enquired about the young French forward in the summer.

Although Remy said it would be hard to make a transition to a new team in the middle of the season as well as respecting and honouring his Nice contract, Arsenal would be hard to turn down.

The young forward already has a close connection with Arsenal and also speaks to some of the French senior players regularly.

“I often speak with Abu (Diaby) and Bacary (Sagna),” revealed Remy. “They say that once you’re there, you want to spend your whole career there … ”

With this talented French star making the headlines for his club and also recently earned his first international cap in the summer.

If Loic Remy impressive form continues this could be another talented young French star heading to the Emirates.

I don’t know if you guys watch any of Barca’s games, but Ibra is exactly the reason why Barca’s game starts slowing down closer to the box. I watch Barca pretty often just because I love fluid attacking and there is no comparison between him and Etoo for that particular style. It absolutely doesn’t mean that Etoo is better, it just means that his skills are being applied in a weird way to Barca’s game. Moreover he really is a big game flop. Absolutely no trying against Rubin when he was needed the most and Barca lost in shame :)
Ask any Barca fan and they dream about Van Persie, just because on how he fits in that role. They know they got no chance with Mr. Arsenal though so they don’t even try.

  68. SUGA3

    hahaha…

just watched AW’s pre-Liege press conference: loved the pride to do well for the one who pays you bit ;)

journos went a bit quiet there

any way, I’m offski, laters anyone out there…

  69. iceman

    Spot on Kreshnik.

One of the most overrated players of the decade!!
And to think the money they paid for him.
Barca play best with the ball on the ground.
They had absoultely no need for a lump up front.
They would have been lethal with Villa.
    Oh well.
Watch him “disappear” against Inter again.

Need those wankers to crash out so Messi can ask Cesc to leave to win all prizes…oh except the CL.
    Cunt!

1)Wenger to wait till the last day of the winter transfer window to see if Inler would be available for GBP 2m.
2)Song is off to ACN,and we have the likes of Diaby as DM
3)Arsenal finish a magnificient fourth once again, in the league
4)Arsene Wenger hails the character of the team for finishing fourth
5)Arsene Wenger receives his performance bonus
6)Arsenal fans back to their hope of ‘Next season is ours’.

    Is this ever gonna change?

  71. Rohan

Jaguar our season ain’t over yet by a long shot… I don’t understand all the doom and gloom, before teh Sunderland game we had a great run and our 3 upcoming games are all at home.
Will Bendtner be back for the Carling Cup game ??

  72. ArsenalKenya

WENGER IS VERY RIGHT IN HIS PRESS CONFERENCE…MOST PLAYERS JUST DON’T KNOW WHO FEEDS THEM! THEY ACHIVE THEIR TOP FORM ( WINNING AND SCORING GOALS ) WITH THEIR CLUBS THUS GUARANTEEING THEM COUNTRY SELECTION.

Very true Geoff, even a draw to the chavs will make it hard. The Sunderland game IMO was the biggest game of the year & the players sat back waiting for someone to create a bit of magic.

I think the sunderland loss will not be anything more than just a blip. I also think Sunderland will take points from Chelsea as well.

The point is will we find our motivational levels which is so required at this stage? Or will we just be limited to giving motivational comments in press interviews, to make sure we know what we want, a wake up call. Every press interview is a wake up call that way as much as every defeat is.

Fabregas, Persie, Vermaelen, Gallas are the ones who give the biggest impressions of a solid motivational level. Almunia takes away soem confidence from the team.

Manone is the one for the goalkeeping slot imo.

ibrahimovic is absolute class, it’s bollocks that he’s had a detrimental effect on their play! 7 goals and 4 assists in 8 starts in the league, and he’s only just gone there, once he’s settled he’ll be even better. His vision and link up play with Messi is amazing, far better than Etoo’s ever was. The reason Barca have struggled this season is that Henry has fallen out of favour, and they need a third player to play that role. When Henry doesn’t play pushing Iniesta further up field and having two DMs just doesn’t work.

Oi! leave Henry alone A, he’s not in a nice place right now, he be Ok by the end of the season, just in time to meet us in the ECL final I reckon.

I’m not sure about that Geoff! If they snap up Silva or Robinho in January he could even go then, or off to the states in the summer! He’d be amazing over there, the sort of player who’d really create excitement and tear the league apart, rather than Beckham who’s very high profile, but his style of play doesn’t suit individually influencing games as much.
