Will we move for Numbchuks now Bendtners is out, or will Watt step up?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Interesting thought, Bendtner is out for at least 2 months, by the time you add the Theo factor, then maybe even 3. The Theo factor is you get injured and are out for a month, then you take another month getting fit before your come back, at which you get injured again, stopping along the way to buy your girlfriend a brand new Ferrari.

Don’t have a cow, I’m not suggesting Nikki B will buy his girlfriend a brand new Ferrari, what I’m saying is they always seem to take twice as long to come back from an injury, so maybe it’s time we made a premptive strike and worried about having too many players, when we have too many players.

I also love Theo, I really do, but he does seem to spend a large part of the season in the treatment room, perhaps it’s the treatment room that’s the problem, perhaps it’s the training, either way it happens more to us than anyone, and we can’t keep putting it down to co-incidence.

The YaYa rumour has started up again but it’s all bollocks, we will never sign someone that turned us down, he wants to play with his brother and the 300 midfielders at shitty and we need another African like we need a hole in the head.

Now before you African’s spit your cornflakes out, hear me out, we have nothing but admiration for Africans, many of you on this site are indeed from the big continent, however the ACN is on every 2 years and that is ridiculous, we need cover for Song because he is going there to play in it, so why on earth would we sign his replacement if he too were going, we wouldn’t, so that’s it, it’s all bollocks.

The squad replacement for Eboue is sorted but the squad replacement’s for Song are a little too young, that’s if it were Eastmond or Coquelin, Diaby is no good in that position so that only leaves Djourou or Senderos, …get the chequebook out Arsene!

So I think we should get two in, in the window, both as cover, I would look at Matuidi and Chamakh, the run in will be tough, and yes I know there will be a bit of cup-tied-ness in there, but they wouldn’t cost much and we could always have a clear out in the summer.

Let’s hope Liverpool get pilloried like we did for a dive that was shameful, let’s see Platini say something, yes I know it’s the FA’s job, but they never act, unless of course it’s us in the dock.

The other option up top is Watt, but like Coquelin and Eastmond, I think he’s too young, but I do like him,  another thought is to bring back Homer J Simpson, but I just get the feeling Wenger doesn’t have him in his plans.

Have fun today Grovers, only ten more to go until we overcome that fat manc loving ingrate from the stadium of shite. I mean when did rednose ever supply him with half his squad?

Chakravo, I was being polite to the you-know-who lovers! I just know if he signs those two they would end up first choice.

  2. SharkeySure

Yeah there is Pedro but THATS HIS OPINION. Why should he be shouted down for it, and told not to air it..??

Fair do’s people will/should argue against it if they disagree.

But to make it sound like it ain’t welcome doesn’t seem right.

    The banner says:
“A blog where you can have an opinion not get [or be given?]one”

  3. Nick

but you go on and on all the time, you are probably the most negative sod on here all you do is talk about the negative stuff i like most come on here to have a bit of banter not read drivel harping on about how hard done by people feel

  4. chakravo

Geoff, Matuidi I can just about see it – I am guessing he is replacing Song in your mind’s eye – but Chamakh? Really, who would he replace to become first choice? Surely not RvP!

  5. tonyadamsisgod

Nick – Just needed to make some KFC fans jealous and I know Le Grove has its fair share of them! My sister just dropped round an industrial size bag of Hot Wings! Heart attack here I come!

The wedding went well, recorded the boxing and managed to start watching it by about 11:45pm. I told you he would win! And if he didn’t crack his hand my prediction of a knock out would have been bang on the money I reckon! Haye on points was the best possible outcome for our book though!!

  6. SharkeySure

Leave me alone please Geoff this a topic that me nad pedro debated respectfully and briefly last night…I’m not arguiong with anyone.

When Pedro’s ready he’ll tell me to leave it….

My last post says I’m done with it all anyway

  7. chris

TAIG How does the all divers are cheating wankers stack up with the argument that pretty football that falls at the last hurdle is a waste of time if it doesn’t win trophies?

I’m not saying Arsenal haven’t had loads of dodgy pens but you don’t want to give those games back or the trophies they might have helped to win or to say Pires (for example) wasn’t a great player?

Stevie G’s dive in Istanbul is why they made the greatest comeback ever (in a CL final) and why they get to wear the 5 stars on the shirt and keep the cup and all that.

On the other hand what about deliberate fouling that looks like mistimed challenges aka getting stuck in etc etc – is diving the worst then?

I would not support diving at all except for this: If you stay on your feet and get crowded out or blast the ball over or straight at the keeper you don’t get anything like the penaltuies you do if you dive – There has to be punishment for divers but also more penalties given where minor infringements are riddden or ignored by the striker aaaaagh it’s all getting too complicated again! Maybe there are some (about 1000) reasons UEFA sdidn’t act on Eduardo after all.

  8. Pedro

Well my opinion is Nik B is the greatest player in the world…

Do I deserve to be knocked down a peg or two for saying that, of course… would I be insulted if people did that? No…

If you have stupid opinion and you publish it online, then you have to realise they will be challenged.

I don’t understand why you are defending someone who came on for the sole purpose of wind up.

What happened to just talking about football? You seem to spend the majority of time talking about how unwelcome you feel, or critiquing the tone? Kind of like you’re not going to be happy until everyone is of the same disposition as you?

Wouldn’t that be boring for you?

  9. chakravo

Alright Geoff, I don’t see Bendtner as first-choice right now, so I can’t see what Chamakh would bring to the team, but I can’t see many things, so..

  10. Geoff

Chakravo, I think we need at least 4 forwards, so we can change things and rotate, if Wenger wanted him in the summer, then since we have lost Bendtner, then surely we need him now, that was my thinking.

  11. Mayank

DOn’t want to part-take in the current convo but something funny caught my attention.

Edmund, you really should read what I say before you feel insulted, I said you sound like an AKB, anyone who make a statement like ‘all hail Wenger’ would do though, wouldn’t they.

I didn’t say you were one.

It’s like saying I didn’t call you a cunt i just said you like a cunt.
    lol

  12. Nick

I know im usually here, you could say im a professional blogger at the mo :) Try my hardest to keep le grove for grovers and not let em drive me mad but its hard :)

  13. Pedro

Cool, we’ll leave it Sharkey. The tone of the blog and how it’s set up isn’t up for debate… it is what it is, and it works.

  14. tonyadamsisgod

Nick – ha ha! Wont happen at the Den I don’t think. We cant get the big bucks fighting there and that,s what he, like most boxers, wants!!

  15. Mayank

Sorry to contradict my last post but

Pedro there’s a difference b/w saying Nik B is the best and getting abuse and saying Wenger is the best and getting abuse.

Wenger hasn’t won as many trophies as SAF does that make him a lesser manager? I don’t think i’d get abuse for saying Henry is the greatest player of all time(even though he never won Ballon D’or), people would dis-agree but no-one would say ‘We don’t praise Henry here’

I when it comes to Wenger people feel the need not praise him as they see it as a sign of weakness.

  16. rayman

Didn’t know Nik would be out for so long, not sure its official that it will be two months, I saw 4 weeks mentioned in a broadsheet.

Even if he was out for 2 months, that has him coming back in mid jan, just as chamakh is arriving, I can’t see the point of that and when everyone is fit we would have yet another person to fit into an already crowded area of the team.

Much rather see us buy a CB and offload either Silvestre or Senderos so we have someone coming thru who can take over from Gallas next year as well as cover for our two CBs this year. Would love any or all of: a decent keeper, CB and cover for Song in Januray, all before a bid for Chamakh.

Also Watt is years from leading the line in any Prem team let alone Arsenal, thats if he ever does, he isn’t even prolific in the reserves compared to Nik and Lupoli (where is he now). One goal and half decent game does not make him an option, no more than one decent game makes Eastmond an option as cover for Song (or even as good as Coquelin).

  17. Pedro

Mayank, I don’t think many people would agree with you and say that Henry is the greatest of all time. Maybe for Arsenal.

Calling Wenger the greatest manager when you’ve got managers like Mourinho, Ancellotti and Fergie still in the game seems a bit silly to me.

Saying ‘All hail Wenger’, like he’s some sort of demi-god is also a bit pathetic as well.

No one see’s praise as a sign of weakness, I’d say worship is though… it’s a bit sad as well… especially as we’re only in November.

  18. SharkeySure

Fair do’s Pedro…but when I blog on how happy I am with the start to the season I get told I’m going overboard…even in my absence.

Our convo about Essien wasn’t about the tone of the blog was it….

    Or your objective reporting…??

    I could go on…..

Geoff and I don’t get along, somehow I’m really not sure if I get along with Nick, but beyond that I have a decent rapport with a lot of bloggers on here

  19. rayman

While Nik is out we still have RVP, Theo, Arsh, Eduardo, Nasri, Tom and Vela to chose from. No need for anyone else to come in.

When Song is at the ACN I can see AW playing Denilson as the DM. We have some tough games over those five or so weeks so not sure I am all that happy about that prospect, though I do rate him as a box to box midfielder and squad player. But he is a far better option than Diaby (no discipline / intelligence), Ramsey and Nasri (both too creative, would be wasted might so far back, might be clever enough to do it but would be very inexperienced in the position),Eastmond, Coquelin (too inexperienced and young)or Senderos (too slow and inexperienced in that position).

  20. Edmond Dantes

Mayank. You did not have to take it literally when I said “all hail Wenger.” I was just trying stir things up. Anyway im not insulted by that AKB slur. By the way, its not “Edmund”

  21. Mayank

But Pedro that’s my point, for calling Henry the greatest I’d get balanced response, I’m sure ‘DB10 is god’ has been written many times across many Arsenal blogs, but none of these comments ever invoke the wrath of Arsenal fans like saying ‘Wenger is the greatest’.
    It’s not balanced that’s all I’m saying.

  22. Edmond Dantes

I like to promote healthy debate amongst my fellow arsenal supporters. So if I say something weird or out of line, there is a method to the madness.

  23. Mr B

for those of you wondering why we should get chamakh, Hes better in the air than all of our forwards and will show more tanacity and will for the cause than either eddie or nic b. If thats not enough we can make a profit off him when we sell him after a season for atleast 10m.

  24. Pedro

Sharkey, I’m not saying you always blog like that!

I’m just saying why can’t you ignore your problems with the tone, and talk football… like the Essien thing, or you Song admiration? It’s much more interesting… even if I don’t always agree with it!

I think praise of the club is fine… if I didn’t, I and most others would tell you why we didn’t think so.

I think it’s hard to argue that we’re all pleased with things so far… I’m still not sure about the title, but we’re going in the right direction!

  25. Edmond Dantes

Wenger is my fellow country-man, so maybe I am a little biased in lavishing praise on him. But I do believe in his vision and footballing philosophy.

  26. Duke

taig, yellow mate, Haye is full of shit, he didn’t crack anything, he is saying that because he stuck to a well organised plan (like the Klitchkos do). But he bigged himself up as being the most exiting thing to happen to Heavyweight boxing since Ali.
Anyway, good job on picking the winner, was not an easy one.
My money is on a Cotto decision at 8 to 1. What about you?

  27. Mr B

Well Henry and Bergkamp delivered on a regular basis. Still dosent warrant then getting called gods, only God can be called God. But to the point Wenger has failed to deliver for a long time. Its not so much the fact that hes failed thats annoying but the way he has failed by being stubborn and failing to see things a 5 year old could. e.g. our defensive frailties, we havenot had a decent and experienced defence for a long time now and it isnt getting better fast.

  28. Mayank

    Cheers Shark,

Edmond you’d said earlier you’d spoken to Wenger in the summer, care to expand, anything interesting?

Pedro once said hi to Diaby and is still banging on about it.

  29. insidealbania

never mind DDM, any insider info on the Vela injury? Also you said in the summer that AW was not gonna buy any midfielders because he was happy with what he has got (which is understandable considering the start we have made). But you did say that he saw the GK position as a weakness, so is anything being planned to rectify the situation??

  30. Edmond Dantes

I would much rather prefer Edin Dzeko to Chamakh. Chamakh is Morrocan and he will also go to the ACN every 2 years. But Dzeko will cost too much and we all know Wenger’s fiscal policy at Arsenal.

  31. Mr B

Nick you talking to me cuz in that case I can understand your point of view perfectly. You might be used to under achieving but thats not good enough for the best among us.

  32. Edmond Dantes

Mayank. Well, he was in Auteuil which is in the country just outside of Paris. I approached him and we spoke for a while. I didn’t want to bother him or appear like some crazed fan. So he spoke a little about football politics and economics. Like forming a super-league and Platini etc.

  33. dennisdamenace

How ya doing Inside you old dirthole!?

Nothing as yet, other than what I was told at the end ov the close season about AW identifying the GK position as a weakness in the team, I know from the same contact that he looked at Rob Green, but that’s about all for the moment….

  34. Edmond Dantes

DDM. Luckily we did not get Green. Almunia is marginally better. Im being unrealistic, but I would love somebody like Buffon to keep for us. We have a tradition of having great keepers. Manuel is not in the same class as David or Jens etc. For me he’s a good number 2 keeper.

  35. insidealbania

    I am not bad.
    Rob Green eh? that’s interesting.
I have to say I dont think we will get anyone in the next window. And to be honest I dont we should go into the market if this form continues. Mind you I would snap up PV04 because it would give the players a lift on and off the pitch. It will also add a winner to the dressing room.

  36. Nick

inside remember fowlers return to Anfield never go back they say and in the case of pv4 i hope he doesn’t.
I want to remember the great man not his shadow

  37. Edmond Dantes

Mayank. Let me be honest. When I spoke to AW, I dont think I caught half of what he said. I do idolise him and I was in a sort of daze. He was talking to me but I was in disbelief and could not believe my luck at meeting him. So I made a hasty departure since he was also with his family, and I did not want to intrude.

  38. insidealbania

I can understand where you are coming from Nick, but we shouldn’t expect PV04 to be his old self anyway. We have Song who is on good form, and I think based on that form he deserves to keep his place at least till the end of the season. PV04 will provide experience and winning mentality for the young players. I dont think he will have many starts which is not what he looking for in WC year.

  39. Edmond Dantes

I have always wanted to know what would have happened if Arsenal did not have to sell players every season. Imagine if Anelka stayed on, how well he could developed. On the flipside, we may not have signed Henry. But would’nt you rather be in a position where the club did not not have to sell.

  40. Rhyle

Cana is good but…good enough? I’m yet to be convinced. DM is such a hard position to pick PL quality. For me…the only attainable outstanding prospect would be Yaya Toure (who I very much doubt would join after the way Kolo was unhappy at Arsenal) or, as an outside bet, De Rossi.

For keeper? Only one name stands out as good enough and attainable – Akinfeev.

  41. Edmond Dantes

    Till next time Grovers.

I leave you with some words spoken by the Count of Monte Cristo: “Only a man who has felt ultimate despair is capable of feeling ultimate bliss.”

Which hopefully will happen after the Chelsea match. In reference to what happened last season of course at home against them.

  42. Mr B

I havent seen much on Cana, Has anyone seen his performances. Sunderland Fans love him, would kill for him. They say he makes them proud to be a sunderland fan that too after 12 games.

  43. dennisdamenace

I’d take PV04 back just as a coach, or just to play in training sessions, I think his experience, influence and attitude would be worth his weight in gold to players like Song and Ramsey….

  44. tomstoned

    afternoon All…

Thx for the Post Geoff ….the medical room…is an interesting thought…what does happen there and are we among the best in that department ? i dont know..still im happy about the fact that we seem to take problems serious and unlike l’pool f.ex. we do things the right way(Bendtner)…

and it seems that when we think ahead..there are three postions in Our Beloved Arsenal we seem to agree on could be *fixed*a goalie(akinfeev)a cb(who??dont have a clue)a midfielder(Cana..not…i would go for Matuidi)will we buy….seems unlikely…

most probably we will wait for Our youngsters to come trough the ranks…still Wenger does seem to buy one player in every transfer window…who will it be in January…???…

and ooops….yes its another day in Arsenal Paradise…lets enjoy the ride to world Domination :)

    tom

  45. dennisdamenace

We don’t have to sell players, AW chooses to let them go, having to sell is a fallacy, just like the one where we have no money to buy players….

  46. tomstoned

    Mr B mate..

im aware of the fact that it seems …well strange at times :) still im an old man and old habits die hard..some years ago it was taken as a token of respect….its just me…

    tom

  47. tomstoned

    ManGoonian..

afternoon mate..well you know us Gooners..and Wenger’s statements…so we’re just adding some weeks to be on the safe side ;) ….he’ll be back long before christmas…

    tom

  48. dennisdamenace

Well the prognosis is not good Grovers, according to my chum, when Alex Song knobs off to the ACN our glorious leader will expect a midfield three of Fab4, Diaby and Denilson to be good enough to best the rest of the Premier League…… I could fucking cry sometimes….

  49. ManGoonian

    Hey tom!

I just think there’s way too much whingin goin down… If it aint bitchin about injuries, its whingin about not signing anyone… I wouldnt mind, but the window shut 3 months ago! Its time to move on!

  50. tomstoned

    Mr B mate..

im not going to answer that one mate…still Misses makes the best omelette in the world and it always leaves me happy as a camper….dont ask what she puts in it…

one time i complained about the food…..and that ill never do again… ;)

    tom

  51. Mr B

Well what should we talk about then Mangoonian.

P.S. did u watch the video about obama i posted yesterday. Watch it with an open mind and then u can call me what u want. Ill just say thus Rahm………

  52. tomstoned

    well back to work…

have a perfect day in Arsenal Paradise…..MrB,ManGoonian,Dennisdemenace,InsideAlbania,Nick,Pedro,GunnerSmith,Rhyle and all Grovers and Gooners alike….

    tom

  53. Rhyle

DDM – no real surprise…disappointment? Yes…but surprise? Nooooo.

Agree that getting PV04 in just as an influence in the dressing room could only be a good thing. He’s the kind of personality the club is sorely lacking – consummate professional, massive appetite for the winning, doesn’t accept mediocrity.

  54. dennisdamenace

    I’m afraid so Jag.

For me, Fab4 has a defi ed role in the team. As does Song and even Diaby, Denilson seems to be neither one nor the other for me, the master conductor of crab football….

  55. ManGoonian

    Mr B;

I just found it disapointing that you are prepared to buy the bile spouted by Republicans with vested interests, Republicans that are soooo far up the asses of corporations and big business, not to mention Oil companiers and the like…

To call Obama a foil for banks ot whatever is laughable given the history of the last administratiuon.

I found it bery sad and distasteful. Basically theres been a witch hunt against him as he is trying to bring in measures that will obviously upset the big CEOs and their ilk.

The latest Medical measures are a fine example of this.

Given how Bush and his cronies did their best to fuck up the world, not just America, it is laughable that you would post smears like that after the dude has been in office 5 minutes! Completely ignoring what we have had to suffer for the past 8 years..

    I am gutted for you..

  56. Nick

give the dog a bone :) ….He was on saying how important the roll of diaby could be in our quest for honors ;) na he aint said nothing either way today.

  57. Mr B

Point taken. but you have to admit that hos choice of advisors and by that I mean Visors is controdictory his touted policies. It shows that there will not be a great change in the policies despite a chnage in administration. But hey lets give it time and see what happens…

  58. ManGoonian

    Mr B;

True. But I am not as naive to think that an American president will not, in some way, be in cahoots with big corps, banks, etc. Just hopefully, he aint up to his neck with em, like Bush was…

Here’s hoping! I think he is the best thing to happen to the US and therefore, the world for a long time… But Im an optimist!

    Cheers buddy, take care…

  59. maurya

I think AW wants to play Eastmond as RB. Considering his attacking options, he might flag off Ebou and some younger player as back up RB to Sagna.

  60. dennisdamenace

Nick – Agreed fella, on top of everything else, fitness reliabilty isn’t something you would readily associate with either of those two!

  61. SharkeySure

Choy I think thats six weeks max, with an early release and based on Cameroon reaching the final.

Someone said that the release dates can be a bit negotiable though

  62. insidealbania

Lets hope cameroon get knocked out at the group stages and Ivory Coast go to the final with Ghana. And Essien goes for a hard tackle on Drogba resulting in the latter breaking his leg and the former busting his knee.

  63. JR's Ghost

Lovely piece, Geoff. You have to admit the irony in your discussing the replacement of Song from the standpoint of seeing him as a positive force in the team. Perhaps you should consider as such a replacement the player most responsible for Arsenal’s unbeaten string last season — Denilson. And humbly accept that you used to lump the two together in their equal worthlessness to the team.

If Song were injured for two months, Arsenal would be able to manage it. I’m not sure if that’s true for Gallas and the Vermanator, and would rather see Arsene spring for another body there, if anywhere.

  64. Pedro

The Boston resident who saw his recent copyright claim against Bon Jovi dismissed is appealing the verdict.

Samuel Bartley Steele claims the band ripped off his song ‘(Man I Really) Love This Team’ for their own number ‘I Love This Town’. He made the claim with regards to his song about the Boston Red Sox baseball team against the band, Time Warner and Major League Baseball organisation last year. He was seeking $400 billion (£240 billion) compensation.

Ambitious… more money than the British paid out for the Banking bail out!

  65. SharkeySure

Well sort of Inside…I try not to wish ill on anyone if I can….but in love, war and football, allowances must be made !!!
