Will we move for Numbchuks now Bendtners is out, or will Watt step up?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Interesting thought, Bendtner is out for at least 2 months, by the time you add the Theo factor, then maybe even 3. The Theo factor is you get injured and are out for a month, then you take another month getting fit before your come back, at which you get injured again, stopping along the way to buy your girlfriend a brand new Ferrari.

Don’t have a cow, I’m not suggesting Nikki B will buy his girlfriend a brand new Ferrari, what I’m saying is they always seem to take twice as long to come back from an injury, so maybe it’s time we made a premptive strike and worried about having too many players, when we have too many players.

I also love Theo, I really do, but he does seem to spend a large part of the season in the treatment room, perhaps it’s the treatment room that’s the problem, perhaps it’s the training, either way it happens more to us than anyone, and we can’t keep putting it down to co-incidence.

The YaYa rumour has started up again but it’s all bollocks, we will never sign someone that turned us down, he wants to play with his brother and the 300 midfielders at shitty and we need another African like we need a hole in the head.

Now before you African’s spit your cornflakes out, hear me out, we have nothing but admiration for Africans, many of you on this site are indeed from the big continent, however the ACN is on every 2 years and that is ridiculous, we need cover for Song because he is going there to play in it, so why on earth would we sign his replacement if he too were going, we wouldn’t, so that’s it, it’s all bollocks.

The squad replacement for Eboue is sorted but the squad replacement’s for Song are a little too young, that’s if it were Eastmond or Coquelin, Diaby is no good in that position so that only leaves Djourou or Senderos, …get the chequebook out Arsene!

So I think we should get two in, in the window, both as cover, I would look at Matuidi and Chamakh, the run in will be tough, and yes I know there will be a bit of cup-tied-ness in there, but they wouldn’t cost much and we could always have a clear out in the summer.

Let’s hope Liverpool get pilloried like we did for a dive that was shameful, let’s see Platini say something, yes I know it’s the FA’s job, but they never act, unless of course it’s us in the dock.

The other option up top is Watt, but like Coquelin and Eastmond, I think he’s too young, but I do like him,  another thought is to bring back Homer J Simpson, but I just get the feeling Wenger doesn’t have him in his plans.

Have fun today Grovers, only ten more to go until we overcome that fat manc loving ingrate from the stadium of shite. I mean when did rednose ever supply him with half his squad?

Inside, I kind of worry that when tom says things like that, he’s planning some sort of Jihadi football suicide bombing in a London bar or something…

I hope no ones telling him he’ll get 100 gonnerettes in paradise if he does it! haha!

Nick, work is shite really… I’ve just realised that I take better notes at Arsenal AGM’s, than when I’m in a business meeting! Dear oh dear…

KIERAN GIBBS will run out at Wembley on Saturday and perhaps be wondering what is going to happen next in his rollercoaster year.

The Gunners’ left-back started 2009 as a player unknown even to many Arsenal fans, and yet he heads into the final international weekend of the year with rumours circulating of him being an unlikely call-up to Fabio Capello’s World Cup squad.

For now the 20-year-old remains in the Under-21 squad that will take on Portugal at Wembley this weekend and then Lithuania on Tuesday, but Capello has made no secret that Gibbs is on his radar, and could sneak in as understudy to Ashley Cole in the party for next summer’s finals.

Unsurprisingly the 20-year-old was keen to downplay that possibility when the Gazette caught up with him this week, and insists it is his form for Arsenal that is more important to him at the moment than an outside chance of going to South Africa next year.

“To be honest I don’t want to get my hopes up about it and think about it too much,” says Gibbs.

“I said before I don’t want to be going into the World Cup on somebody else’s disappointment if there’s injuries. I want to be going because I deserve it.

“At the moment I don’t deserve it because I haven’t had the experience. I’ve only had a few games and I don’t want to get ahead of myself. I just want to wait and see what happens this season before I think about the national team.”

So would he rather be heading to Doha with the full team than playing for the young Lions this weekend?

“Wembley is Wembley and the full squad is the full squad,” he says cryptically. “It’s a dream to be anywhere near the bench for the full squad. It’s fantastic.”

Fantastic and a little far-fetched if you turn the clock back eight months to March when Gibbs, then 19, had only made Carling Cup and FA Cup appearances for Arsenal, and his only taste of league football had come in a loan spell at Norwich City.

That was to change in April when Gael Clichy injured his back and was ruled out for the rest of the season.

The teenager was in and his first game was a Carling Cup quarter-final against Villarreal, while his 10 remaining matches of the season included three games with Manchester United (including both legs of a Champions League semi-final), two games with Chelsea (including an FA Cup semi-final) and the epic 4-4 game with Liverpool at Anfield. Then followed a summer reaching the final of the Euro 2009 final with the Under-21s.

Quite a baptism. And Gibbs admits that three games marking Cristiano Ronaldo was an education in itself.

“It was all good experience for me. World class players like Ronaldo – it’s going to teach anybody playing against him. I learnt a lot against him.

“I feel stronger now and I know my position better because I only started to play there last season. I feel more and more comfortable as I keep playing. ”

Gibbs is set to keep playing for Arsenal now that Clichy has again succumbed to back problems, and the feeling this time is that if Gibbs steps up and impresses, the left-back slot could be his for keeps.

“Obviously it’s disappointing for Gael, but hopefully, it’s a chance for me to get in the team and get some games,” adds Gibbs, who believes the Gunners can continue their impressive form this season.

“I’m very confident but I don’t want to be the one coming out saying we’re going to win this, we’re going to win that because that’s not really my thing.

“We’ll just wait and see what happens. I’m just very happy and I love playing for the team.

Pedro, have BBK and the other doom&gloomer (what’s his name Jonno or something)been on here recently?

I love it how when everything is fine they say nothing.

Watch how as soon as we lose a couple (hopefully never) they are back on in a flash!

    :-)

    I HATE THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK!

  4. ManGoonian

Boswinger out for 3 months? Blimey. Hopefully Cashley, Drogba and John “I can handball, foul to hearts content in the box” Terry will fuck themselves up for a few months too…

Well, it would happen, if there is any justice in this world, which there aint, but I still thought I’d say it anyways, so I did, which was nice, so there you go…

  5. Pat

If Bosinwga, Cashley and Drogba are all out, we’ll win

Otherwise, its too close to call.

    Almunia
    Sagna Gallas Verm Gibbs
    Cesc Song Nasri/Diaby
    Rosicky RVP Arshavin

  6. reggie57

Jon (im thick as shit)Terry said it will be interesting how arsenal cope when they get a few injurys

A bit like wallcott, rosicky, eduardo, nasri, bendy, clichy, enough players there for you jon you thick uncouth cunt!!!

  7. ManGoonian

Yeah reggie reg… Like we havent suffered enough with injuries this season, already eh?

I make it about 10 or 11 1st teamers out with long term injuries…

I want Drogba fit, Vermilli will smash the diving feigning injury scum bag to pieces I tell thee!

  8. A

Is Bendtner actually out for at least two months? Where is that from – I read that he’s out for 3-4 weeks after the surgery which occurred on Tuesday?? Even if he was out for 2 months how would Chamakh make any difference, he wouldn’t play a Prem game before Bendtner is back?!

  9. ManGoonian

uncouth cunt!!! Haha! Yes indeedy reg!

Almunia, Fabianski, Djourou, Clichy, Diaby, Denilson, Rosicky, Theo, Bendy, Eduardo, Vela, Nasri, Wilshire… All been out, or are still out for a few weeks or more….

  10. ManGoonian

As for Chamakh, if we didnt sign him in the summer, I dont see us goin for him in Jan. If we get him, it will be on a free next summer, and unless he has already verbally agreed, that might not even happen. The way other teams are desperate for strikers, I can see a few more teams coming in for him, offering loads more wages, bigger signing on fees, etc…

  11. ManGoonian

And talkin of free transfers… Apparantly Hangeland is available on a free next summer… Now, him and Chamakh would be 2 effin blinding free transfers. Having Gallas, Vermilli, Hangeland and Djourou as our 4 CBs would be fan-fookin-tastic!

  12. ManGoonian

    choy;

Well, we may not need a striker, I know, but to have someone to play that target man role as well as RvP wouldnt be such a bad thing now! And on a gree would definitely appeal to Wenger!

Im also pretty sure Hangeland aint signed a new deal either… But I can imagine Liverpool goin in for him….

  13. ManGoonian

    A;

I would like someone to come in, in January, but I am not sure it would happen. During Song’s absence, do you think Eastmond might be drafted into the squad to play there, as well as Denilson, of course?

  14. A

Wenger already said we weren’t going back in for Chamakh either in Jan or in the summer didn’t he??

Hangeland is a bit old for us imo, want someone same age and as good as vermaelen but right sided so they can be the central defence partnership for the next decade!

Carlton Cole to Liverpool would be interesting, very underrated player imo

  15. A

I dunno Mang – he could do, may depend on how he does from now until then training with the first team. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone like Matuidi came in, the way Wenger talks about Song as a centre back makes me think he’s keeping space open for someone else as a DM, dunno if Eastmond or Coquelin are that close

  16. ManGoonian

Hangeland is too old?? Thats crazy talk! If we were talkin about having to splash £10m on him then I’d say yeah, you are right. But on a free? No chance fella! Same goes with Chamakh. Just coz Wenger saud he aint goin back in for him, means very little. How often is he truthful, or open about transfer dealings…?

As for carlton Cole… He is distinctly average, patchy and very poor technically. Perfect for Liverpool then!

  17. A

If Gallas left then I wouldn’t be against Hangeland coming in, but as Wenger says he doesn’t believe in rotating centre backs, and when Gallas goes I expect someone to come in there who’s going to develop a partnership and understanding with Vermaelen over a good few years. I don’t think Hangeland would go to a club where he’d be sub.

I also don’t particularly rate him, does very well in the very deep lying system that Fulham play, but his lack of pace would be highlighted massively playing for us in a very high line.

However not talking about him specifically, when Gallas is done I’d rather someone Vermy’s age replaces him, rather than a 29/30 year old.

Gotta disagree about Cole, incredibly strong, and very underrated intelligence and technique. Superb link man, his build up play is fantastic at times, finishing is a tad dodgy though it’s certainly improved now. He’d be great foil for Torres imo, he’d do for him what people want Heskey to do for Rooney and England, and claim he does, but weigh in with more goals.

  18. A

Chamakh I agree, though only if someone leaves, we’ve already got too many forward players when everyone’s fit, and I don’t see anyone leaving!

  19. ManGoonian

Disagree about Hangeland mate. Saw him close up when we played Fulham. Doesnt seem too slow to me. After this season, who knows if gallas will stay another year? I just see it as very good business though.

Cannot agree on Cole, even at his best, he aint good enough. Ashton is/was a player I rated a lot more. Pity his injuries have fucked him up…

  20. A

Yeah Ashton was an amazing player, massive fan of his, real pity he’s done now. Cole wasn’t in Ashton’s class, but is just a better version of Heskey in his prime imo, makes life very difficult for defenders and surprisingly good touch for a player like him.

Yeah if Gallas refused to sign a new contract and we hadn’t found a long term replacement Hangeland would be a stop gap who would be cost effective. I saw him get raped in pre season by two nippy forwards at Peterborough, and granted it was just pre season, but his lack of pace, or more specifically real lack of acceleration illustrated for me what would happen if he was at us, spending most of his time defending having to turn and chase people when they broke against us, he’d be left for dead imo.

For Fulham he never ever has to do that, because they sit so deep, the whole game happens in front of him, and he’s a very good reader of the game and powerful, but if he played in a team which dominated a game, as Fulham did against Posh, his size and lack of acceleration would be a real problem imo, just as Senderos’ was for us, and from what I’ve seen I reckon Sendy is quicker

  21. Jaguar

It would be great fun watching Verminator kicking the shit out of that diving cheating scumbag Drogba. It could be a forced injury because he doesnt want to play agaisnt Verminator.

  22. Pat

I wouldn’t be so confident about Verm shutting down Drogba, although I do think he’s capable.

I’ve noticed that aggressive defenders usually dominate both Ade and Drogba.

We MUST, absolutely MUST be aware of long hoofs upfield.

Yesterday saw a bloc of 32 Arsenal Holdings shares traded off-market. I think it’s reasonable to assume that Alisher Usmanov’s Red & White Holdings Ltd was the buyer. Stan Kroenke’s SKE (UK) Inc is at 29.9% and won’t want to trigger a mandatory bid at the moment. Red & White Holdings, as it doesn’t have a seat on the board only has to publicly declare movements in its holdings in the club up or down by one percent. Red & White declared going over the 25% threshold back in February and it’s known they’ve been active in the market since. Expect an announcement that they’ve gone over 26% soon. Interesting the quoted share price on the PLUS market has slackened a little by £400 a share to £8,850 from £9,250. The market price is however a notoriously bad guide in the case of Arsenal Holdings shares as there are only 62,217 of them in issue and 88% of those are in four hands (Danny Fiszman, Alisher Usmanov, Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith and Stan Kroenke). The trading is so thin that tiny movements can cause huge swings in the quoted share price.

Im going to put this out there even though some of you will probably think Im retarted: I think theres a possibility of Wenger buying even 2-3 players in January, I would say, one attacking player, one CB, and maybe a cdm. My reasoning: Rosicky and Arshavin are old, Rosicky has had a hard time getting fit again, Eduardo has been in and out of fitness, walcott gets healthy just to get injured again. I know we have the likes of Vela/nikki/wilshire, but with the phat bank we have right now and the potential of losing rosicky on a free, he could very well buy Turan, Hazard, even Ozil I heard. With Gallas old, Senderos out of favor, and shitvestre extra shitty, Wenger must see that he either needs to buy a CB to partner Verminator in the future, or convert Song to CB and buy a CDM. I think Song has sealed his midfield spot so I would expect a CB to come in.
I could see Wenger buying before selling so as not to sell and then expose himself as desperate to find replacements and get worse bargains.
I dont know, maybe Im just rambling… I mean, we do have a shit load of money from Adefuckhore, and Toure, and all the profits…
