Sunderland couldn’t beat the spuds, why are we bothered!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

We all know that those away games up north used to cause us problems, the reason I’m not worried is, we have such a good team, don’t get me wrong, I still believe had we signed two heavyweights in the summer, we would be 4 points clear of Chelsea and looking at a season going unbeaten.

The team we currently have though is still good enough to take care of the Sunderland’s of this world, when you think we have Rosicky, Nasri, Vela, Wilshere and Theo to come back, I think we have plenty in there to win all our remaining games this year.

Watching City does show you that money doesn’t guarantee success, but then they have a shit manager who bought Kolo (our weak link) and made him his captain! How funny was it to see Kolo stranded in the middle of nowhere as the ball hits the back of the net again, that brought back memory’s.

So although money doesn’t buy success, it sure as hell would do if the right manager was spending it, I still think that we need cover when the ACN comes along, and also we need that cover to act as competition and cover in the event of injury.

I know we have the kids coming through, and I agree we can’t ruin their chances, so that’s why I still see Vieira as the perfect answer.

After watching the chav/manc game yesterday, I really saw nothing there that I feared, I don’t think the chavs will have the legs to go through the season at that pace and the mancs are just not as good without their Portuguese pikey.

It’s good to see that although Arsene isn’t spending any money that at least Ivan Gazidas is, he’s added another expensive member to his team, this time a lawyer, who happens to be an expert in the field of takeovers.

Arsenal football club now has the biggest management team in the EPL, it’s a shame we have done the worst deals though isn’t it? Ivan, don’t worry, I know it wasn’t you, but having such a large team of pencil pushers, makes we wonder what the point is, the naming rights and shirt sponsors are set in stone for a long time to come.

Anyway Grovers, we are second, we also have a game in hand, and we we be playing the chavs soon, win our next two games and we could go top! Imagine that!!!

    Pedro. Ludicrous…?? Maybe, maybe not.

Could Fat Frank play our style..Steven Gerrard…??

Its almost too simplistic too say he’s a good player it will work. Just like saying he’s shit it will never work…or that Henry could never make a decent CF.

Or lately, that RVP is useless thru the middle…

Some questions will just never be answered, otherswill, that don’t make asking ‘em ludicrous.

Essien’s style is all action, great, but I just don’t believe he’s got Song’s range of passing, which has really impressed me (et tu Peter!!) this season.

  2. Pat

Drogba, your point is? Torres manhandles Vidic, Drogba doesn’t even come close.

Lucas missed a sitter. He mishit the ball

  3. gooby

when i think about their pre-season talking, they seemed pretty assured they’ll overcome us.

    we are far better!
    haha

  4. SharkeySure

    Pedro….

Maybe I explained it betterat 16.25..??

“Did anyone watch the shitfest yesterday thinking that Essien could do a better job for us than Song, IN OUR SYSTEM..?? I don’t !!

I ask cos it seems that Essien for us would play the ‘Diaby’ 2nd DM role which would suit his all action style. Song showed (AGAIN!!!) on Sat just what he does for us, and what he means to this team”

  5. AndAPrayer

Why is the strength of a player being discussed as something of great importance? I’m fairly certain that if Phil Vickery ever decided to swap to football he’d be the strongest player in the league but that doesn’t mean he’d be any good.

I seem to remember reading that Kolo used to be the strongest player in our squad by a long way but (much though I love him) he isn’t the best defender.

  6. Pat

Kevin Davies is pretty strong too David. I don’t see what you’re trying to prove.

The key to stopping Chelsea is to stop Cashley and Bosingwa/Ivanovic. They have no other wide players

  7. SharkeySure

Pat…how did Essien do there in your opinion. It just seems that until lately Mikel often got the nod to play there.

Essien with his energy seems like a caged tiger if asked to hold….

Maybe I really am crazy, and guilty of overlooking Essiens LT injury of last season

  8. David

    Well i’ll make it short.

Ive already made my point Pat.

    See my 19:33 post

Thats what i think Dzeko can be for us.

    Aerial challenges are one thing.

Holding and keeping the ball with your back against the likes of Ferdinand and Vidic/Alex/Terry instead of falling over and asking for a foul is another.

    VP cannot do it.

    Ofcoarse its juss my opinion.

  9. dennisdamenace

Great hit, but right over Reina, he should’ve done better imo, if that had been Almunia, people would be saying it was another GKing error….

  10. SharkeySure

    Reina no chance…..

For us Song would have muscled him off it possibly giving awaywot some call a stupid free kick.

The end result we’ve just seen is why some conceded free kicks are classed as ‘good fouls’.

Shocking from the CBs to stand off him like that though

  11. patthegooner

    A

Earlier, No I did not say he put in a Messi like performance.

I said that they bring in Babel for a game here and a game there, and because he does not put in a great performance he gets dropped.

Babel is not that bad a player, but like any player, he needs a run of games to get some form.

Liverpool are in trouble here, but I think Gerrard will turn it around 2nd half to once again prove they are a one man team. The risk for them, is that he causes himself more damage in doing so.

  12. SharkeySure

Gerrards nicked the armband off of Kuyt the stand in skipper. Wot a dickhead.

I wonder if he wears the armband in training as well….

  13. zeus

SHit, completely missed first 45. How was it guys?

I’m honestly afraid to watch the game, I like the top 4 as is, the last thing I want need is Man shitty and Spurs claiming to be in our class.

  14. Pat

I just saw the goal.I think thats Reina’s fault. A world class keeper’s concentration has to be spot on every time. You don’t see Cesar or Buffon letting those type of goals in, do you?

  15. gooby

reina is not a top class keeper imo. he does too much errors

world class–> casillas, cesar, buffon, Lloris, given(yes he is), van der sarr. did i miss on someone?

  16. Ja-Gunner

    Gerrard scored the penalty..

These commentators are so biased…the replay showed clearly that it was a dive…

The commenatators saw that and said

‘Oh i can understand why the ref gave that”

” He doesnt have a good angle ” bla bla bla…

If it were Arsenal then they would say

    “What a terrible decision”

  17. A

lol given and vds world class keepers, but reina isn’t because HE makes too many mistakes?! genius

Comedy dive by ngog, absolutely ridiculous, gerrard has taught him badly, he didn’t even manage the leg drag against the man on the ground

  18. tomstoned

what a great dive…damned…lets see if they go after ngog like eduardo..ohh..no thats true its not a european tournament… ;) he”ll walk alone trough the hall of shame..

    tom

  19. Pedro

Sharkey, I think it’s quite a statement to say Essien couldn’t play our system. He’s world class and I reckon we would have signed if Abramovich hadn’t started the Chav revolution…

He didn’t make as many passes against United, but then again, United set out to nullify the whole chav game… and I think the Chav’s play more direct football than us.

If you look at their stats, they make similar amounts of passes per game, but Essien makes less unsuccessful attempts… factor in the all action play, pace and winning mentality… I’d take Essien all day…

If Song gets anywhere near his level, I’ll be delighted.

  20. Ja-Gunner

Football needs video replay…or at least the extra officials in each penalty box…

The amount of “wrong big decisions” in football is horrendous

  21. A

no gooby – but given and vds have made plenty of mistakes just this season and cost their teams more goals because of mistakes, way more than reina….

none of the three are world class imo, but reina is a fair bit better than vds and given, the later of whom makes shitloads of mistakes but makes spectacular saves as well, but none of them are in the same league as buffon and casillas, and possibly cesar

  22. A

gooby almunia won’t be playing until the new year – fabianski will be between the sticks by the end of the month…. :-)

  23. gnarleygeorge9

liverpoo need to undergo heart surgery  Get a donor with a heart the size of a golf ball to replace the heart the club has the size of a pea.

  24. patthegooner

Well I dont think you can argue that the Scousers deserved a point, but that was a cruel wicked way to get it.

Diving Cunt. I bet the Media dont have an outcry about that one though.

Another 2 points dropped in a Home Game where 3 should have been a banker. Benayoun out for a few weeks to

A bad night for the Scousers…..Chuckle Chuckle

  25. zeus

Saw the last 9 mins. The benitez goal was quality nothing Reina could have done IMO. Looked a lot like Insua’s effort against Almunia.

I want to see the dive now though.

Fucking hell, as I type I see the DIVE. At least Eduardo had contact.

  26. patthegooner

Zeus, I don’t think you will get a more blatent one all season,

Although that cheating Cunt Steven “Butter would not Melt” Gerrard had a go a few mins later.

  27. gnarleygeorge9

So gents, Liverpoo are all but stuffed, its time to focus to the next shadow of its former self manure. I see the miserable jock won’t get sanctioned for his most recent ref attack. Gordon Brown must have had a word to the FA about his jock mate.

  28. Ja-Gunner

Liverpool’s next game is against City….so it does not get any easier for them..

I just cant see them beating Man City….it will probably be another draw..

  29. SharkeySure

    Pedro.

    Ok you motherfungling well win.

Essien could play our style…100% definite, no ifs or buts, hat trick and 3 goal line clearances every week. Throw in a couple of penalty saves as well shall I… ;-)

I was only trying to say that as much as he COULD do it….I’m not sure it would BEST SUIT HIS OWN STYLE being 1st DM, and that his all action box to box style would better suit playimg 2nd DM.

Conversely Song might not suit some other styles :-) , but is fantastic doing that job for us.

I think Yaya has a steady eddie style only breaking sweat when he really has to….Essien;s more of a whirlwind

And you’re right we did have him lined up for £15m then Roman spunked up £24m. Oh what might have been….

  30. SharkeySure

    Scumbags on ESPN !!

show us the pen about 40 times…then say its a shame we ain’t talking about the good goals…you couldn;t make it up.

    Nite all..

  31. goonermichael

Will he get a retrospective ban for diving, then never be awarded another penalty for the rest of his career like dudu? will he fuck. They are shit though. out of the CL no Cl next year. Going skint as well. They’ll never walk alone cos they can’t afford the bus.

  32. Ja-Gunner

Yeah Choy I see that game as another draw…

Or a Man City win…….Liverpool are very poor at at the moment…

    1 win in 9 games……WOW!!!!

I guess torres and Gerrard will get a 2 week rest now though…so maybe they will be better after the break…

  33. patthegooner

It shows that they massively over achieved last year.

I just have a sneaky feeling that no one will take advantage and nick 4th spot from them.

Maybe Villa or Spuds but I don’t see Man Shitty in there at the moment.

  34. gnarleygeorge9

    pat

liverpoo are really stuffed. They have spent loads to get nothing, & have a shit youth policy. There are screams coming from their old players saying sack benitez.

  35. Stu

Hi all, just saw that Gerrard scored a pk for livershit but didnt see the match or know the score. Anyone wanna inform me? Basically dont know anything that happened today…

  36. A

2-2 stu, lpool went one up through ngog, then equaliser from chucho after a set piece, then wonder goal from jerome, 30 yard screamer, then ngog did the worst dive i’ve ever seen for the pen to equaliser

  37. Stu

Fucking delighted then. 2-2 is hilarious even if i do hate Birmingham. I bet there wont be a single word about Eggnogs dive in the papers or anywhere tho. Will be more like Gerrard saves the day…yet again. Cant wait for him to get another injury because without him (and Torres) they would be lucky to get europa league.

  38. AndAPrayer

I hope that Liverpool do make 4th spot, I really don’t think that they’ll ever win the premiership so in that respect they’re not a challenge (assuming we get back to winning ways). Also, it’s pretty fun seeing them constantly teetering on the abyss and listening to their high pitched moans.

Finally, and probably most importantly, while they’re in 4th it means Spurs aren’t and out of all of the other teams who could get it, spurs seem most likely to me (much though I hate to say it).

  39. ManGoonian

If Almunia had let a shot go in just over his head from 250 yeards, he’d be slated for it…

    Reina’s pants innit…

And will be funny if Ngog gets a load of shit for diving too..

  40. A

No keeper in the world would’ve saved that shot, though if Almunia had been the keeper then he would’ve been slated like anything!

  41. AndAPrayer

Oh yeah, could you imagine the shit we’d have to listen to from ‘pool fans and biased commentators if it did happen. they’d shout for a year then demand the whole world has a 3 minute silence.

  42. ManGoonian

    A;

You are too soft on Reina. I think you like him… It was straight at him from mles away, very poor keeping, but he has been hyped, like cech, soooo instead its a great goal…

  43. A

Got nothing to do with who’s between the sticks Mang! It was so high no keeper in the world could’ve reached it! Straight at him but no keeper could jump that high to reach it, same as the Insua goal, they’re unsavable….

  44. Pat

A, has nothing to do with how high a keeper jumps. Its all to do with positioning. Great goal, whatever.

Ask yourself this: How many times does Buffon, Cesar, Casillas(pre 2009), even Lehmann to an extent get beaten by a shot that goes right over them, from that far out?

Bad positioning and a lack of 100% concentration, although its hard to concentrate against “small clubs” so we see them score screamers much more often than the top teams. Thats just an observation, I don’t have stats to back it up

  45. AA23

Collymore was doing his nut on talkshit and saying that Ngog should be banned for 8 games etc. we’ll see if They keep it up tommorrow, they all said it was a shocking dive, as blatant as they come, some journo on there also said that Eduardo didnt dive, but that this Ngog one was diabolical.

  46. ArsenalKenya

Chelsea defender Cashley Cole may not be fit for the Blues’ derby game with Arsenal at the end of the month, after aggravating a leg injury against Manchester United last night.

The 28-year-old former Gunner – who left the club over a £5,000 dispute in his contract – required an injection to face United last night due to a depressed fracture of the tibia.

“He aggravated the injury before the United match and further injured it during the game,” said a spokesman.

Theo Walcott is expected back for the game at Emirates Stadium, while Denilson also has a chance of being back in time.

  47. gnarleygeorge9

    Geoff

“Sunderland couldn’t beat the spuds, why are we bothered”. My thoughts on that are that 3 points from beating Sunderland is just as important as taking 3 points from Chelski. When you are on you way to winning a comp, you make every post a winner.

I would love to beat Sunderland so much

Where is ethan these daze ;)

  48. Pedro

I just saw the Jerome goal… bad goalkeeping… are some of you mental! How was Reina supposed to keep that out!

Fuck me, no wonder everyone seems to think every goal keeper in the world is shite!

  49. Pedro

I am a little taller than Reina, and my reflexes are going to waste working in McDonalds… but I still reckon I’d have struggled ;-)

    New post!

  50. gnarleygeorge9

    Me too Geoff

Chozzer, I switched channels to get a score @ 1-1, then 2-1 as I was having breaky. When I saw Gerrard on the pitch, I knew a Liverpoo would get a penalty. So predictable.
