Take over imminent, Kroenke buys another 427 shares. Death by a thousand cuts. He now owns 29.6%

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So why does he not just take over the club, this is painful and what benefit did this board get from all it’s posturing and getting rid of David Dein, the bloke that brought him in, in the first place. What a shambles, now we get to be run by a cheerleader. Now I think it’s all over and we’ll have to see what he intends to do next. Why he just didn’t make it 30% it’s typical of the way this board operates, what next, 29.8%?

They are like children. Get on with it for goodness sake.

This was what Arsenal just sent me.

‘On 2nd November 2009, Arsenal Holdings plc (the “Company”) received notification that on 2nd November 2009 Stan Kroenke, a director of the Company, acquired 427 ordinary shares of £1.00 each in the Company at a price of £8,500 per share.Taking into account such acquisition, Stan Kroenke has a beneficial interest in, and controls voting rights over 18,394 ordinary shares in the Company, representing 29.6% of the Company’s issued ordinary shares’

Onto footballing matters and I never thought I’d say it, but I agree with jug ears. Gary Lineker has said, if he were an Arsenal fan he would be pleased with the team this season, he said we were wonderful on the eye and clearly still developing, even though we might need to add a Patrick Vieira-type figure in central midfield and a goalkeeper if we want to overhaul the mancs and the chavs. I have to agree with that, without naming names of course, but maybe one name I should name is that of Vieira, maybe we can buy him in the window as cover for the absentees and as a father figure to the youngsters like Coquelin and Eastmond.

Who to bring in as a keeper? I’m not sure he’ll bring in anyone, though Alan Smith did say on Saturday that he thought Wenger would buy a keeper. I miss that Paddy grit, imagine him and Gallas in the same team with Vermaelen, it would be like going back to the days of the famous back four, fist pumping and shouting at the team to go that extra mile, I would love it.

There are certain couples that shouldn’t really have kids, but true to form one was born yesterday and given a proper council house name, poor kid, imagine what growing up in that family will be like, he’ll think that ‘eeeeeerrr’ is a real word.

I watched the Jay Emmanuel Thomas goal for Blackpool on Saturday and what a cracker, I like this kid, although he seems to play further forward, he does remind me of Vieira, I wonder if we could convert him, I remember we bought Djourou in as  a defensive midfielder so we do seem to have options there, I know Djourou is injured but maybe if we don’t bring Paddy back we should experiment. One thing is for sure, we will need someone come January and if our players get injured out there, we will need cover all the way through the season.

So our options are Coquelin, Eastmond, PADDY, Thomas, Nasri, Djourou (if not still injured) Senderos, Denilson, Diaby. I think they are options, then again he may well go out and surprise us by buying someone, someone ready and good like the chavs did with Essien, anyone for Mascerano? (I know a number of you think he’s shit, but I like him)

No one ever bought Veloso did they, maybe he’s not worth it, but it has gone quiet and we haven’t signed a Portuguese player since Luis Boa Morte, who I just found out lives in the next street to me. (Don’t say Bitchslap because he was a mixture and we didn’t sign him)

Tomorrow we play Alkmaar at home, and I believe he will rest players, I expect to see Nasri back in the midfield alongside Cesc and I suspect Eboue. (Didn’t say I wanted him note) I wonder if he’ll promote young Sanchez Watt now that Bendtner is a long termer, I think it’s anybody’s guess with Rosicky and though I adore him, I think it’s time to say goodbye, we can’t go through another season of this, yes it is like a new signing, but he comes back, gets match fit and then gets injured again, it’s time to bring in a world class replacement and not a kid, and if we do go the way of a kid, let’s bring in someone like Eden Hazard, someone with pace and trickery.

Anyway lots to look forward to and for once, the international break is coming at the right time, we may have Theo and Rosicky back for the chav game, and imagine our Carling cup team with Theo, Rosicky, Nasri and Robin in it, ha, ha, that would be the end of shitty, and given the away fans we’d be allowed for the game, it would be like a home tie!

Have a great day Grovers, tomorrow we qualify.

P.S. Pedro has tickets for tomorrow in le exchange! Mail in if you’re interested!

friday night is back and soon there’ll be a post match show called end zone featuring tom watt with wite teeth, risque skirt and his own arsenal soccer pom poms

  2. RockyPires

I think this could be team for tomorrow night
    ____________Al
    Sagna___Gallas__Verm__Gibbs
    ____Cesc___Song__Ramsey
    __Nasri___RVP___AA

    Subs
    Mannone
    Silvestre
    Senderos
    Eboue
    Diaby
    Rosicky
    EDS

  3. Pedro

Man, they should train more effectively.

Both Clichy and Denilson have suffered stress injuries. Those are injuries from training too hard. We’re about 12 odd games into a season, that shouldn’t be happening especially as there wasn’t a world cup this past summer.

Impact injuries aren’t avoidable… soft tissue ones are.

Teams like Fulham and Villa have tiny squads and very few injuries… why? They manage their players fitness better than we do.

It’s not by chance we’re top of the injury league nearly every year.

  4. goonermichael

Talking of women. If any of you have ever seen mutv (no reason to obviously, but I have a “special” tv box) It is hosted by a fucking right minger. The girl who used to do atv was much nicer

  5. afc

i think we are the only club that has scored in every single one of our games
when teams play against us they should get the feeling that they have to score to get anything from the match which would work to our advantage

  6. Emperor Gooner

“He is very strong in the challenge, good in the air, has a work rate and gives us good balance in midfield.”

    wenger on diaby!!

WTF!!! as much as i respect wenger , sometimes i feel he talks straight out of his arse.

  7. zee

geoff in response to your post i think stanley doesnt just want to get straight to the takeover threshold of 29.9% as he sees it as too clumsy and direct. He wants to knock it about a bit first, 0.3 here, 0.3 there, stroke his new shares a bit then complete the perfick takeover

  8. finestcuts

I’ve just heard the dreadful news about Clichy, I hope he gets well soon. I’m not concerned at all about the prospect of Gibbs playing in the first team. I hope Clichy makes a swift recovery, but it looks like he’ll be hanging out with Rosicky for a while vut hopefully Rosicky will end his injury spell soon.

  9. Emperor Gooner

now let’s hope rosicky stays fit so on saturday we might see that fabulous five we’ve been waiting to play together for so long

  10. Stu

    Evening all…how is everyone? Good.

Now that thats done with…any good arsenal news going around? Looking forward to tomorrow nights match and tonights too. Hopefully the Milan Madrid rematch will be as good as the first one.

  11. leon

risicky may be back but i garantee he wont start no chance wenger will be extremly corsious with him same with nasri,he will be very cerful with edwardo as well but with vela, brenta and thoe injured he hand will be forced,i not realy worried about gibbs he has 1-2 mistakes but too many he has looked very impressive i would be worried with troare at left back as defensively very poor but very good going forward.wenger might have to take chance on fringe players in merida and ramsey,at least diaby has sorted out his fitness i give him that

  12. A

leon wenger has said he won’t start so you don’t need to guarantee it!

I agree about fringe players, I’d like to see one of merida or ramsey start, preferably the former, just because with nasri likely to start i’d like to see him in midfield rather than out wide, but i’d be happy with ramsey in midfield and nasri more advanced.

I’m not too fussed what the team is really as long as Nasri starts rather than Diaby, then one of Eduardo, Merida, or Ramsey

  13. leon

a i realy feel diaby could good at dm position he stays desaplined and just keeps forcused on protecting the defence and help song and cuts out the silly passing, does not need to best footballer flamster what not the best foootballer either but worked his socks off we have more tha enough creative players bith senior and young players comming through this team needs more steel, but it a bit worrying how thin we are in terms of strikers right now the injuries are pilling up and if edwardo or rvp gets injured we will have a problem

  14. SharkeySure

Diaby’s a big lump who usually has good energy.

Yeah he has some very poor aspects to his game, but he’s mainly there just to get up and down the pitch.

For all his faults I bet if some of you played with him/alongside him you’d appreciate him just that bit more.

His size makes him very useful for the role that he is asked to play. Whether he heads a ball well or not, he’s a very big unit to get above or around.

Defensively he gives us a lot whilst still posing a goal threat.

Against Brum he was very (fairly?) good in both directions

  15. Pedro

Sharkey, I’m with you on the Diaby thing…

He made the most successful tackles in the Spurs game… and is often the highest tackler on the pitch.

There’s not stat for losing the ball unnecessarily… he’d probably be best at that as well.

The potential is there… he just has to realise it.

  16. A

leon diaby doesn’t read the game well enough to really give the defence protection. He can use his physical attributes as long as he’s a second DM alongside a proper DM like Song is playing, or even someone who reads the game well like Denilson, but not by himself. IMO Flamini couldn’t play the DM role by himself either though for the same reason, his reading of the game is very poor, but his energy is just incredible and in his good season he was perfect for the system we played, winning the ball high up the pitch, but he didn’t give the defence proper protection in deeper areas as he couldn’t read the game very well.

  17. SharkeySure

“The potential is there” – Pedro

Thats why I dont get all this sell him stuff….

The moderate view of benching him or subbing him I can understand, but you can’t sell a young player with that much (latent?) talent.

  18. ardentgooner

i think we can cope with Clichy’s absence…remeber we had Flamini playing at LB for a long time…and we did ok with that…here we have a great guy in Gibbs filling in which is not bad at all….

  19. Pedro

Sharkey, I wouldn’t sell him… knowing our luck he’d explode onto the scene as soon as he left!

Some players are worth persisting with… he is one of them.

I read in an article saying Wenger was in two minds about who to play in goal tomorrow… that’s interesting.

I also read an article about Redknapp and how he doesn’t care for money…

Queue a huge dollop of LOL.

  20. A

Sharkey I agree, he certainly has something to offer, he’s our only offensive minded midfielder with any physicality, he can put his foot in, strong in the tackle, and powerful going forward. It’ll be interesting what happens when Nasri is fully fit though. Diaby offers a physicality that we wouldn’t have with Cesc and Nasri, but I’m not sure we’ll need that in most games, Song’s physical enough to cover that, except for games against the likes of Stoke and Chelsea where we need a bit more.

  21. Pedro

A, I thought Diaby was knocked all over the place against Spurs. I actually think he is relatively weak considering how tall he is…

  22. A

Pedro in the press conference Wenger said Almunia will start, so not sure where the being in two minds thing came from?!

  23. ManGoonian

It was yesterdays, or last nights? Telegraph. Same one that said Fabianski has all the bits n pieces to be World Class!

    I conker with that…

  24. A

I dunno Pedro, he’s stronger than he’s given credit for, when he’s stable he boshes people all over the place, but it seems to me that when his feet aren’t planted he gets knocked off balance easily and gets out-strengthed as a result of that

  25. A

Telegraph and Times are silly, as are most papers actually! The sports desks seem to be very limited in their footballing knowledge, as you’d expect they all know a little about a lot, which means when they report on your team they generally know less than you!

Fabianski will be awesome, so disappointed he got injured, really expected him to take the number one shirt after the Liverpool game and never look back

  26. ManGoonian

Nasri is as strong as an ox, tenacious as a rottweiller, as graceful as a swan and deadlier than a rattlesnake…

When he is 100% the midfield will be effin awesome, I tell thee…

  27. leon

a i dont realy agree with that diaby may be big but for a player of his size he cant hold the ball up that well and he cant realy header e he the ball very well however is a good tackler,i feel people look at nasri and because is small people dont think he is that strong but i think they very wroung he is very strong player and can hold the ball up alot better than diaby and feel nasri is also good tackler poeple confuse size with stregth, diaby gets in touble trying hold ball up with very little success and gives ball away.in our current squad there too many players who pass the ball alot better and hold the ball up better than him,i dont see him having much chance getting anywere as an offensive player

  28. zee

A/pedro not being funny but shouldn’t his balance be there now? Agree A he does get knocked off the ball alarmingly for a bloke who stature-wise should be far more of a dominator for us. I’m still shaking my head at how out of his depth he looked on Sat, it really was outstanding in a bad way.

  29. A

Yeah Mang, with Song holding, and Nasri, Cesc, Rosicky, Arshavin and VP ahead of him the number of goals in that attacking 5 is scary. Then Theo, Vela, Bendtner, Eduardo to come off the bench

  30. ManGoonian

    A;

Thats exactly how I saw it too. Fabianski was pencilled in for the spuds game and then kick on from there, with Mannone and Almunia playing in the domestic Cup games…

  31. ManGoonian

I do think that Diaby is learning a new role though. More disciplined and defensive than his natural attacking instincts. I think he has done well and is definitely worth holding onto…

  32. Pedro

Zee, he played very badly, but his stats don’t read that poorly.

I know, I know… stats don’t tell the whole story… but they do tell a story… he is trying to become more defensive and become a more rounded player.

He made the most successful tackles, and the most overall attempts…

As for balance… if you bulk up, it doesn’t matter, no one can get past you!

  33. Mayank

    Pedro,

It’s not by chance we’re top of the injury league nearly every year.

Didn’t you see that the other top team with the more athletic and technical players were top of the injury list.
I still think that’s the reason, however you could be right.

  34. zee

pedro, take your point re more defensive role. It’s funny though how a bloke can have such a similar physique to vieira, yet have none of pv’s massive intimidating presence.

  35. ManGoonian

We only have an offer from Arsenal but Fran Merida has an illness, for want of a better word, and that is Atletico Madrid and you can’t do anything about that,’ said Diaz.
‘It started in 1996 when Atletico won the league and the Copa del Rey. He slept on red and white sheets, he followed Atletico whenever he had the chance.

‘Even when he was with his family he wore a gold ring with the Atletico badge stuck on it.’

Merida’s family are also said to be keen on his returning to Spain next July and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger looks set to lose one of his brightest youth prospects.

  36. leon

zee -pedro diaby and viera both look so similer but different mentality, viera was an extremly agresive player hence the great rilalry with roy keen and mentaly take no crap from no one,in contrast diaby is a very plasid person diaby is squad player nothing more but can do a job as dm but he needs disapline

  37. Mayank

If he was so in love with AM why didn’t he just go there, must be easier to get into their academy than Barca’s…

  38. Mr B

“All three goals were scandalous, there wasn’t a good goal amongst them,” added Redknapp.

“Giving Fabregas the ball from the kick-off [after the first goal] was Sunday morning football.

    Oh My! Oh My!

    Still sore from the weekend.

  39. zee

leon, diaby’s 6’2, he’s 23 and his balance and strength should be there. Remember after the 50p header at OT, Wenger said Diaby can be our powerhouse. He’s got the physique, he should have the strength. He looks a real athlete. All i’m saying is he should be more dominant for us than he is. Just cos he might be shy is no reason for him to think he cannot impose himself more.

  40. Mr B

Man I think hes bigger than 6’2″. Theres a picture of him and denilson celebrating and Denilson could fit into his pocket. Honestly but I think Wenger does that to players. He dosent like them to be aggressive, he like them to play pretty. So unless a player is born with an aggressive mentality he is not going to develop one under Wenger.

  41. Mr B

I think thats why the genuine wenger boys lack grit. Lee Dixon was talking about how the team played badly in the CL under wenger. At half time Wenger had a go at them he was realy angry. He was holding a crushed paper cup in his fist. When he was leaving he threw it at the basket. It hit the basket and fellout. So he came back in through the door, bent over, picked up the cup and put it in the basket. Dixon didnt say this but the talk must have lost it edge right about then. See Wenger is too civilised, too much of a good guy, so unless u have a strong and mature personality, that will rub off on to u.

  42. Paul88

If the clichy injury is a stress fracture he’s more likely to be out for between 6-10 weeks, not the “few weeks” like wenger has said. It’s an injury commonly seen in crickters with bowling.

  43. SUGA3

why we conceded fuck all goals in our run to CL Final?

because we had a nasty fecker in the shape of Keown amongst our coaching staff, he taught them grit and aggression, Flamini wouldn’t do so well in the back four if it wasn’t for Keown IMO…

and I think it was criminal to play Cuntley instead of MF in the final…

  44. zee

mr b – diaby has a chance, wenger clearly likes him. We all (wenger included surely) want him to have more impact for us, especially as a tall fella surrounded by smaller red and white wizards everywhere.

  45. SUGA3

    leon,

Diaby is just lazy, and has the same Big Time Charlie attitude Adebayor had – having dolphin head Diarra (whose attitude is shit as well) as a best mate since their days in France says it all…

  46. Mr B

Zee everyone sees the potential, he has the physique and skill that Viera had(I remember Viera tip toeing past three succsesive tackles) but will he ever achive it? is he hungry enough?

See I myself(and most of my mates) am a nasty player. I ussualy get into fights in games for fouling and being fouled. Its the way I play (it helps that im 6’1″ and 85kgs).

Ive been tring to teach my nephew that. Hes 6 but looks 8 but hes just too shy and timid even though hes bigger than other kids.

  47. leon

sug i think its very unfair to compaire diaby to a man who has no loyalty and just maney grabber diaby is offensive player who has no end product learning to play defensive role

  48. zee

Mr B, fair do’s mate, I don’t think he does have the hunger and I don’t think he’ll establish himself with us. Maybe even he doesn’t realise what a chance he has, it won;t get any better for him. I read that dixon piece, Yaya would be great signing but it aint gonna happen is it. Just havin a little joke about abou and the cup mate, no need to call me a cunt you rotter

  49. ManGoonian

    Suga3;

Thi8s urban myth that keown is the main reason we went without coinceding in the CL is kinda simplistic and most probs, completely untrue!

If that was the case, how come the defence in the Premier league (where Keown has 98% of his experience) was soooo shite?

  50. ManGoonian

And as for Diaby being lazy… i imagine his languid style gives that appearance, but it isn’t true either.

Sorry, I aint on some kind of mission to pull you up on everything, honest!

  51. Honest Bill

Diaby just needs a bit of bottle and he’ll be fine. We know he is technically gifted, he’s just unable to use it effectively when he needs to (most of the time)

  52. Pat

Clichy’s injury is a big blow. He was getting back to his best and will miss the CHelsea game. Why the fuck do we get so many injuries. Season after season, we’re always hit the hardest. At least Rosicky is back.

Bendtner, Vela, Traore, Fabianski, Walcott, Denilson

  53. ManGoonian

I think he’s been doing well of late BillyBob… Bit more solid and defensive to boot!

Right, Im off darn the pub, laters…

  54. SUGA3

Keown is a character and that must have added another dimension to our coaching staff but that is my opinion…

watching Milan – Real game, not much of end product so far…

    Geriatricos v Galacticos :?:

  55. WB

there is very less chances of getting neuer, because bayern is after is him and they have the history of spending crazy money.
    anyone here rate asengo?

  56. Ja_Gunner

Manure is still benefiting from fear.

The Russians are offering nothing….they are afraid to commit numbers forward ….Manure is dominating but the match is boring….

Wolfsburg attacked Manure and scored first….but then they panicked…they did not know whether to go for more or just hold…they got caught in 2 minds and Manure launched a comeback….helped by a stupid deflection from a Giggs freekick……why do they always get that luck?

  57. SUGA3

no, MG, that is not style, he just can’t be arsed to run…

I’ve seen him leaving plenty of space on the side and leaving the fullback exposed…

I just want a more disciplined player there while Clichy is out…

  58. WB

i know he is a big fan of lehmann, but i dont think influence plays any role in deciding club, money is deciding factor in most of cases

  59. Ja_Gunner

I hope CSka can hold on and beat Manure…

Its very early though and Manure always find a way to weasel themselves back into the game…

  60. Stu

The only benefit to the world of Wayne Rooney having spawn is that it should affect his sleep and hopefully his football because the mancs are shit without him performing.

  61. Ja_Gunner

    Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What a bunch of fuckers!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I haaatttttttttteeeeeeeee theeeeeeemmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  62. Ja_Gunner

    Lol…..fuck Manure….

Please Cska hold on til half time atleast!!!!!!!!!!

I think Cska are realising that Manure is not that good…..come on Cska beat the fuckers

  63. Stu

Hahaha uniteds defence is all over the shop! Amazing how losing Ronaldo and Tevez has affected them so much (regardless of the injuries they have tonight)

  64. Pat

Serb friend of mine was hoping Krasic had a good game so United buy him. He’s a United fan. I’m sure he didn’t have this in mind!

  65. Pat

I’m reading live commentary from the Chelsea game and Reyes is tearing Ashley Cole apart apparently. He’s been the best player on the pitch from what I’m reading

  66. Stu

He looks class again tonight from what i’ve seen WB. Beating Fabio everytime and lookig very dangerous on the ball in general. Fletcher will probably be told to man mark him from now on tho..

I always liked Reyes too but honestly i could care less about him now. His career hasreally gone down the shitter since leaving us…like most players who want to leave.

  67. Pat

Aguero is on the bench against Chelsea. He is extremely hyped up. I don’t rate him. Shit for Argentina and shit aganst us in preseason.

  68. tomstoned

i see that Our former superstar..Flamini has gotten the nod again…such a shame he’s such a excellent player that flamoney gay..oops guy sorry

    tom
