Take over imminent, Kroenke buys another 427 shares. Death by a thousand cuts. He now owns 29.6%

So why does he not just take over the club, this is painful and what benefit did this board get from all it’s posturing and getting rid of David Dein, the bloke that brought him in, in the first place. What a shambles, now we get to be run by a cheerleader. Now I think it’s all over and we’ll have to see what he intends to do next. Why he just didn’t make it 30% it’s typical of the way this board operates, what next, 29.8%?

They are like children. Get on with it for goodness sake.

This was what Arsenal just sent me.

‘On 2nd November 2009, Arsenal Holdings plc (the “Company”) received notification that on 2nd November 2009 Stan Kroenke, a director of the Company, acquired 427 ordinary shares of £1.00 each in the Company at a price of £8,500 per share.Taking into account such acquisition, Stan Kroenke has a beneficial interest in, and controls voting rights over 18,394 ordinary shares in the Company, representing 29.6% of the Company’s issued ordinary shares’

Onto footballing matters and I never thought I’d say it, but I agree with jug ears. Gary Lineker has said, if he were an Arsenal fan he would be pleased with the team this season, he said we were wonderful on the eye and clearly still developing, even though we might need to add a Patrick Vieira-type figure in central midfield and a goalkeeper if we want to overhaul the mancs and the chavs. I have to agree with that, without naming names of course, but maybe one name I should name is that of Vieira, maybe we can buy him in the window as cover for the absentees and as a father figure to the youngsters like Coquelin and Eastmond.

Who to bring in as a keeper? I’m not sure he’ll bring in anyone, though Alan Smith did say on Saturday that he thought Wenger would buy a keeper. I miss that Paddy grit, imagine him and Gallas in the same team with Vermaelen, it would be like going back to the days of the famous back four, fist pumping and shouting at the team to go that extra mile, I would love it.

There are certain couples that shouldn’t really have kids, but true to form one was born yesterday and given a proper council house name, poor kid, imagine what growing up in that family will be like, he’ll think that ‘eeeeeerrr’ is a real word.

I watched the Jay Emmanuel Thomas goal for Blackpool on Saturday and what a cracker, I like this kid, although he seems to play further forward, he does remind me of Vieira, I wonder if we could convert him, I remember we bought Djourou in as  a defensive midfielder so we do seem to have options there, I know Djourou is injured but maybe if we don’t bring Paddy back we should experiment. One thing is for sure, we will need someone come January and if our players get injured out there, we will need cover all the way through the season.

So our options are Coquelin, Eastmond, PADDY, Thomas, Nasri, Djourou (if not still injured) Senderos, Denilson, Diaby. I think they are options, then again he may well go out and surprise us by buying someone, someone ready and good like the chavs did with Essien, anyone for Mascerano? (I know a number of you think he’s shit, but I like him)

No one ever bought Veloso did they, maybe he’s not worth it, but it has gone quiet and we haven’t signed a Portuguese player since Luis Boa Morte, who I just found out lives in the next street to me. (Don’t say Bitchslap because he was a mixture and we didn’t sign him)

Tomorrow we play Alkmaar at home, and I believe he will rest players, I expect to see Nasri back in the midfield alongside Cesc and I suspect Eboue. (Didn’t say I wanted him note) I wonder if he’ll promote young Sanchez Watt now that Bendtner is a long termer, I think it’s anybody’s guess with Rosicky and though I adore him, I think it’s time to say goodbye, we can’t go through another season of this, yes it is like a new signing, but he comes back, gets match fit and then gets injured again, it’s time to bring in a world class replacement and not a kid, and if we do go the way of a kid, let’s bring in someone like Eden Hazard, someone with pace and trickery.

Anyway lots to look forward to and for once, the international break is coming at the right time, we may have Theo and Rosicky back for the chav game, and imagine our Carling cup team with Theo, Rosicky, Nasri and Robin in it, ha, ha, that would be the end of shitty, and given the away fans we’d be allowed for the game, it would be like a home tie!

Have a great day Grovers, tomorrow we qualify.

P.S. Pedro has tickets for tomorrow in le exchange! Mail in if you’re interested!

  4. Geoff says:

Don’t know how you did that!

  5. bnsb says:

The take over code in UK

    http://www.thetakeoverpanel.org.uk/the-code/download-code

When a person or group acquires interests in shares carrying 30% or more of the voting rights of a company, they must make a cash offer to all other shareholders at the highest price paid in the 12 months before the offer was announced (30% of the voting rights of a company is treated by the Code as the level at which effective control is obtained).

  6. Geoff says:

Well isn’t that why he keeps buying the shares? If he didn’t want to do it, why keep buying them?

It’s getting boring and we get nothing for it. Oh and there were 6 typos!

  7. Geoff..

its lucky it happened…last time i tried..i could get only top 9..but this i time all top 10..prob first time done at Le-grove..
on lighter vein..pls make a note of this :P

  8. Aussie Az says:

wow sab, that is good i never seen that, anyways anyone heard the squad he goin to use for tomorrows game?

  9. Geoff..

Suppose kroenke does not make an offer after reaching 30%..what happens?? any idea

  10. bnsb says:

You see it is obligatory on the person acquiring 30% to offer to buy shares at say GBP 8500. But a shareholder like R & W holding may opt not to sell their entire holding. So, Mr. Kronke needs maximum of 460 Million to buy out each and every shareholder.

  11. chozzer says:

    Geoff, is this yours?

  12. Geoff,
    Good First time news

  13. bnsb says:

    Geoff,

Deny the opponent an opportunity, remember Usmanov started it. No more shareholders are left who would sell to Usmanov, but would sell to Kronke because of his acceptability. In other words Kronke when does not buy, the seller could go to Usmanov, the only buyer left.

  14. chozzer says:

Another crowd video of that crazy minute on Saturday.

I agree its time to say goodbye to Rosicky, and he should probably consider retiring.

I would like to see David Silva or Ibrahim Affellay brought in to replace.

  18. bnsb…

yes dude..good match..hopefully Milan will stuff them out of CL..

i would like milan to beat real, and marselleie to beat zurich..so that the last CL game is marsielle at home to real…in that way..want real out of CL..

    ——–

    jerseygooner..

Dude,i have hectic work everyday at office mashallah..
but somehow i try to keep some free time for Le-grove..thats how it happened :P

  19. Jay20h says:

Its hard but I have to say that if Rosicky carries on being injured as much as this, he has to be replaced. He is brilliant as we all know but it cant carry on.

Only started 4 games this season.

Yes I know he was a long time witha string of problems – But at the end of the day, we cant have that sort of player on the books. Getting paid good money – Money that can be paid to another world class player to take his place (or some younger fella)

  20. gambon says:

I thinka takeover would be a good thing, it would shake the club up.

Arsene has been way too comfortable for way too long now. Hopefully Kroenke will demand success and let Arsene know who’s boss.

  21. pedro says:

    Morning all!

What’s to stop kroenke doing a manu style debt leverage on us?

  22. finestcuts says:

My view on club ownership has not changed and it is one thing Platini and I agree on, the club should be fan owned and debt free. Barcelona is a shining example of how the fans are the best people to own a club. Fans demand success, great players, great football and tight fiscal control. It’s a winning model, the best thing both Usmanov and Kronenke can do is to float their shares on the stock market. Red and White Holdings should change to a PLC.

As for Rosicky, only if a player of equal or better calibre is signed should we let him go. Now that the team is strong again, we do not want it weakened in any way like in the past few years. Wenger has juggled the finances while developing a young team, and the more I look at project youth, the less likely I think it is that we’ll buy new players. With Merida and Eastmond coming through, this is the future, and in the long term it means success for the club. But of course if a Vermaelen or an Eduardo or a Sagna commes along, Wenger should not restrict his team policy to homegrown players only.

To be honest, with Fran Merida, Wilshere and Ramsey coming through, I would rather Rosicky stayed I think the worst is over for him. It’s a similar case to RVP, and look at him now. I’m proud to say I bought an RVP shirt pre-season despite the many doubters, he is an awesome player and hopefully these next few weeks will allow Eduardo some time to prove to Wenger that he is better than Bendtner and deserves a regular starting place.

Bendtner is our Peter Crouch, a target man. I don’t particularly like the way he talks himself up before actually delivering, he should be a bit more humble like Cesc and let his skill and goal record convince us.

  23. tonyadamsisgod says:

Fuuuuck me! Thanks for finally catching up everyone! How long have I been telling everyone that Rosicky needs to be offloaded asap!!

  24. iceman says:

    Morning all.
I read something Myles Palmer wrote about Kroneke and Gazidis being in the frame.
Not that I agree with him mostly, but he had some valid, positive (surprise surprise) points regarding Kroenke.
Basically, bottomline that AW won’t have too much power and that he best win something or he’s on the next flight to Madrid.
Maybe he can take Ebdianilsong with him :)

  25. Mandar says:

I read this on bbc sports-
“The unusual name given to the newborn son of Wayne Rooney was picked by the Manchester United striker’s wife Coleen. Kai, the 68th most popular name for baby boys in the UK, has several different meanings around the world. In Burma it means unbreakable, in Nigeria it can mean love, in Japan it translates as the ocean and in Chinese Mandarin it means victory. In ancient Persian it means Great King and in Scandinavia it can mean keeper of the keys.”

THE FUNNY PART IS, IN MARATHI (LANGUAGE SPOKEN IN MUMBAI) ‘KAI’ MEANS ‘WHAT’!!!

  26. Big Dave says:

Don’t worry about wenger buying anyone, as he says if he did it “would kill” his players like Diaby !!

Would luv to see us break the bank for David Villa

  27. iceman says:

Dave I’m sure that would kill someone! :)

  28. AndAPrayer says:

Re Rosicky, I think a lot depends on how the rest of the season pans out and what sort of deal he would be offered to keep him here. A small retainer with a large playing bonus would seem to make perfect sense for him and if he can stay fit then move him on to a more regular payment structure at that point.

He is a very good player and I get the feeling that a lot of these current injuries are due to a lack of playing time because of the previous big injury, similar to Eduardo when he first returned. Hopefully it will dort itself out and if it does we’d have a player who will probably be loyal given the support he’s been given through this period, have good friends at the club and who has something to prove – in other words, he could be brilliant.

  29. charybdis1966 says:

Morning all, I presume the council house new born Geoffers refers to is son-of-shrek ? It was named something dumb I recall, in the typical chav/Hello magazine style way of thinking.
I’ve been thinking AFC should call time on Tomas’ career as it really is getting beyond a joke. Fine player that he is we can’t keep him on when his absence is costing us. It would help if we got meaningful updates and some predicted dates on his return from injury from Wenger that bear some relation to when he actually does. So long Tomas’ and thanks for the 1 ½ seasons of first team activity you gave us.
I’m going to the Alkmaar game and I’m looking forward to it – it’s been too long away from the Grove.

  30. bnsb says:

    &aprayer,

Rosicky is on a slow mend a la Van Persie of last year. It is crucial that he recovers fully in the second half of the campaign. Fully fit Rosicky could well be the difference between a draw and a crucial win.

  31. gazzap says:

having been out for so long these little niggles are natural. lets at least give him until May before dismissing him. He could turn out to be our most important player come the run in.
He is still the third best player at the club and I think we should appreciate that.

If we pay him based on appearances I think he would take that given how much we have paid him to sit on the treatment table.
I am still hoping he is back for Wolves anyway.

  32. bnsb says:

    gazzap

I hope and believe that Rosicky will be fine by December/ January

  33. Duke says:

    Morning,

gazzap just at the top of my head, Cesc, RvP, Arshavin. How is TR the 3rd best? Based on what? His 50 app for the club?

  34. rico says:

    Morning Le Grove,

Fine post Geoff, I don’t understand the share stuff, if Stan wants to take over, just get on with it I say…

Not only has jug ears good things to say, but even ex Dipper Hanson come out with pro AFC comments..

Liverpool legend Alan Hansen believes it would be good for the game if Arsenal were to win the Premier League this season. The former Anfield stalwart suggests the title is likely to be a two horse race between Manchester United and Chelsea, but claims Arsene Wenger’s side must be considered a genuine challengers given their response to back-to-back defeats against United and Manchester City.

Hansen told the Telegraph: “Since they lost at Manchester City in September, Arsenal have improved all of the areas that they needed to and they are beginning to give the big two something to think about.”

“At the start of the season, I predicted a three-horse race between United, Chelsea and Liverpool, but the running order has changed because Arsenal are now the third team and you have to credit Wenger for ironing out their flaws.”

Have the BBC had a rap on the knuckles or something ;)

  35. rico says:

bsnb – sorry, i have just posted a duplicate of your link :(

  36. TonyS says:

My friends step-uncle lives reasonably near to a doctor and the doctor suggested that Rosicky will be fit by the start of December.

    December 2014

Or the guy might have be an accountant, I cant remember now.

  37. Duke says:

Nick Griffin told BBC to start supporting Arsenal :D

  38. choy says:

  42. gooby says:

    morning grovers

  43. goonermichael says:

Platini is a cunt. The fact that he’s allied to Warner and Bladder say everything about him. Like blair and berlusconi.

  44. choy says:

    Good to hear that Rico.

Am doing fine as well.. thank you!

  45. goonermichael says:

    morning everyone

  46. gooby says:

on the official web site rosicky was 50-50 for the west ham game, so he may return quite early, don’t u think???

  47. km says:

    Good Morning Ja Bastards! :)

Geoffrey….i liked the bit in your post abt the ‘council house…eeeerrr’ hehe

Gazzap …… offload Rosicky?? I’d rather we keep him and buy David Silva and Rosicky can be used like how ManU use Scholes/Giggs. Silva is the real deal but Affelay is cheaper…so u know what Wengers thinking :)

  48. rico says:

Hi GM, gooby, I hope he is back tomorrow. Maybe we will know more about the squad later today

  49. Arsenal Tom says:

    rosickys replacement will be eboue

    sad but true

  50. km says:

Hansen & Linekar are on the right track RE.Arsenal.
We need to strengthen in 3 areas – DM, CB & GK.
However i’m hoping that Eastmond can do a Gibbs and therefore be Song’s deputy. The boy was v.impressive against a mixed age L’pool side.

  51. km says:

    lol ATom :)

  52. rico says:

Tom – Eboue is after a move to PSG….

  53. Arsenal Tom says:

rico… only while he’s not playing… he said the same sort of thing last summer i think.

plus wenger wont buy cos he’ll “kill” merida or wilshire. the problem is he wont play either of those 2 anyway!

  54. mimi says:

Rosicky isn’t going anywhere? We stuck with him thru’ the worst, he can only improve.

  55. Arsenal Tom says:

“I want to win the Champions League and the Premier League,” said the Russian playmaker.
“I am sure it is possible for Arsenal to do that.
“We have to finish speaking about how young we are.
“I am so happy here, it’s a new season and we need to play like we are a big and strong team

good boy arshavin, for once he didnt mention cash!!!

  56. rico says:

I think he wants to play but at RB only, he is also after a new contract – maybe this time its true….

  57. ManGoonian says:

Why is Stan Kranky buying a few more shares a shambles? Dein is an oily self serving snake, the fact he sold all his shares to that Uzbek rapist is proof of that. Fuck em both.

Kroenke is simply hoovering up any loose shares so that Russian gangster cant getn his hands on them.

  58. rico says:

Good for AA, I was getting fed up with listening to him moan and graon about money, tax, barca etc etc…

mimi, i hope he stays to.. and gets a new contract as long as he gets his fitness back for a long spell

  59. ManGoonian says:

    goonermichael;

Morning fella. Yes, Platini is indeed a grade A cunt! His constant slating of Arsenal is down to a hatred of Wenger. He hides behind this crusade to protect young players and their parent clubs who trained them, while ignoring the facts that Barca, Real, Italian and French clubs bring in young players from abroad.

    He is a wanker really…

  60. Arsenal Tom says:

rico, i did hear that wenger was going to sell him but he pleaded for his future and is on his last-last chance with us.

i think most people want him to only play RB as well!!!

  61. km says:

AA needs to hit top form……he has momentas of magic rather than influencing the match from start to finish.

  62. goonermichael says:

I agree and If I had to choose (and it looks like that is the case) I’d take Kronke anytime.

  63. ManGoonian says:

I hope Rosicky gets his new contrsct too. He is a top top player and the way he has fought back from such bad injuries is a credit to him and the club for sticking by him. Those calling for him to be discarded are probably the kinda people who would throw a bag of kittens into the river, coz they got bored of em!

    Oh for shame

  64. km says:

    ‘ moments ‘

  65. ManGoonian says:

    GM;

Yeah, me too. I would rather we stay as we are, with no single owner. But if it has to be one, then the yank will be my choice. he is on side with the board, has a sports related CV and has a nice moustache.

  66. ManGoonian says:

    km;

Should we sell Arshavin? He obviously isnt doing it for you!

  67. goonermichael says:

A nice syrup as well ManGooninan

  68. Arsenal Tom says:

“Those calling for him to be discarded are probably the kinda people who would throw a bag of kittens into the river, coz they got bored of em!”

lol, bit of an extreme comparison! rosicky should be pay as you play/stay fit

  69. ManGoonian says:

    Arsenal Tom;

Eboue should be utilised as a RB for sure. him saying he wants to play for PSG is a long term goal. Not soon.

  70. ManGoonian says:

    Over reaction??? Me? Strewth!

  71. rico says:

Tom, lets hope AW has seen enough of him now then and is only playing him to sell him :)

GM – Stan over fatman any day for me, would prefer neither but its the sign of the times i guess…

  72. Arsenal Tom says:

if eboues deal ends soon then the PSG is just him/his agent putting the feelers out seeing who would be interested

  73. km says:

    ManGoonian….take it easy son

I’m a huge fan of Arshavin (my dad loves him too:)
i just want more from him, because i know he’s the best player in terms of talent in the Arsenal team – he really is up there with the likes Ronaldo & Messi but needs to sort out his fitness(?) and he looks disinterested at times which i find really strange.

  74. ManGoonian says:

    km;

Wasn’t be serious fella! Arshavin IS the best player in the league, along with Cesc and RvP! He has been quiet for his high standards, but hopefully he is saving his best for when we need it… Yo know? when we win the league and the Champions league final!

  75. ManGoonian says:

    km;

Are you the same one in was in Wales?

  76. km says:

yes – for my sins i was born in wales :)

  77. ManGoonian says:

Haha! Mike Tyson loves Manchester! Thats his favourite City!

  78. km says:

I think Arshavin plays well on a big occasion….. giving me the goosebumps….gotta watch that 4 goal thrillier in manila against l’pool

  79. ManGoonian says:

    That explains it then!

  80. Franchise says:

“So our options are Coquelin, Eastmond, PADDY, Thomas, Nasri, Djourou (if not still injured) Senderos, Denilson, Diaby”

    Geoff what of Song????? :D

  81. mimi says:

As long as either of the two don’t make us to be the next Mancs or Scousers as far as debts are concerned who cares!!

  82. leon says:

the debate on who to cover dm in jan has gone on and on,i thinkwenger will stick with same formation so i suspect he will go delinson, nasri and fab,i dont think he will use ramsey as he is still learning,i dont think diaby is an option because he lacks disapline to do the dirty work for the team but he might prove use wroung, alot people think wenger will rest players but i dont think so he will not take anything for granted we have not qualified yet and i think he will go

    almunia
    sagna gallas vern clichy
    nasri song fab
    aa rvp edwardo

we only drew the last game so its far from done this group and once we qualify only then will wenger rest some players but not at this point

  83. SharkeySure says:

Hey Mimi – I’m with you on the Rosicky thing…he knows he’s at a great club who play a style that suits him.

I think he knows he owes us and will be more than happy to repay us.

Who c/would he go to with his injury record..who’d take a chance on him, even on a free ..??

  84. SharkeySure says:

Fran…I think Geoff is talking about options for covering Song’s absence.

But yeah Song himself would be perfect cover !! Well maybe not in Geoffs eyes…

Hows yer knee comng along….?? Will you be fit enough to be ‘another option’ come Jan..??

  85. Ooby says:

  86. Geoff says:

Morning all, no that wasn’t my roller Chozzer!

Franchise, Song is off to the ACN but as you know, he would be my first choice invisible wall.

    Wall I said!

  87. leon says:

km top player aa but what has happend to him this season looks abit tired but i still think he will come back

  88. Geoff says:

Sharkey you answered for me, top man!

  89. km says:

    Leon

i think he’s not used to such a tough league….maybe the Russian league is not so tough? anyone with insight of the russian league would be appreciated.
I also think Arshavin has a big ego & likes to be the main man as he was for Russia & Zenit….at Arsenal its Fabregas & RvP.

  90. km says:

i think Fran Merida is a gem but one who needs to polished. He’s going to be played nxt season for 10/15 mins at the end of a game like Ramsey has this year and last.

  91. rico says:

It will be just our luck to see Diaby cover for Song!!

Geoff, even you will wish Song’s speedy return then ;) ;)

  92. km says:

    Diaby is an enigma :)

  93. gazzap says:

Duke, Rosicky was 3rd for me behind Cesc and Arsh. RVP was 4th. and thats just based on how good they are. not on what they have done for Arsenal or what trophies that have won etc, just on how good they are. RVP’s amazing form right now might make a lot of people think he is better than 4th, but I am happy to put him 4th.
If you put them in a different order, who am I to disagree with your opinion?

  94. km says:

    Gazzap

    I agree with ur listing

    CESC
    ARSH
    ROSICKY
    RVP

i’d love to put Arshavin above CESC but the russian doesnt have as much influence on our play as CESC does and performs now and then.

i bet my ManU friends that ARSHAVIN is going to be EPL player of the year…however seems like CESC is ahead of him.

  95. gooby says:

for me it’s fabregas, rosiscky, RvP, nasri and then arshavin. the russian needs play better

  96. TonyS says:

Why are people asking for Rosicky to be put in a bag and thrown in the river?

I can categorically assure you this will not improve his fitness.

  97. Geoff says:

You know me Rico, I only have eyes for Song!

  98. SharkeySure says:

TonyS..thats two crackers so far….good work.

  99. rico says:

    I only have eyes….

That sounds like a Song geoff ;)

  100. rico says:

City’s Carling Cup quarter final tie at home to Arsenal will take place on Wednesday, December 2nd at 7.45pm.

  101. SharkeySure says:

Off to google my own name now….

km, you are so right. Shava is used to adoration by fans and complete trust from his team mates. Undisputed #1 at the national team, ditto at Zenit. It has been an ongoing sentiment in the Russian media that the ball isn’t played to him as much as he’d be used to. It probably annoys the hell out of him too. He IS a big boy though. He’ll get over it I think, cause he’s an intelligent kinda guy.

  103. chris says:

Just wanted to say it’ll probably be Denilson/ Denilson and Nasri if he sticks with the Nasri is potentially a DM argument (I can’t see that yet against top teams tho)

  104. Mayank says:

I think it tells you a lot about the credibility of the media that everyone is jumping onto the ‘Arsenal bounced back after the defeats in Manchester’ bandwagon. If they could be bothered to analyse any game they’d realise that our performance for the whole season has been about the same, the results didn’t go our way but you can always how good a team are by seeing their performance.
That’s why i think blogs do such a better job(by and large) of analysing games. ‘Cause they do it out of interest and love, not to get to the next pay cheque.

thank u OZRUS….i just had the feeling that this guy is lacking some Lurve ;) he wants to play where Cesc is playing….he is being wasted on the LW…but what can we do…we are winning…it seems he has to sacrifice him or rise above this obstacle….

Remember boys & girls….Impossible is nothing!

There are matches where we won’t lose but could end up as a draw.We shouldn’t take them lightly.Away matches are always tricky

  113. Mayank says:

I think Arsenal have such great blogs is because of a) being located in London b) being the club of choice for connoisseurs of football world over (including England).
That makes for great comments which inspire the blogger to put a little more into their work.
Republikofmancunia the most popular Man Utd blog pales in comparison to even mediocre Arsenal Blogs.

  114. Duke says:

gazzap, fair enough lad, let’s agree to disagree.

KM, Arshavin has always been the same, he won’t perform over the 90 minutes as you would like him too. He has flashes of brilliance. Even the Liverpool game he was quite poor in the 1st half. But he will always step up when it matters. He did that for Zenit and for Russia. He saves up energy to use it when it matters. He was sometimes criticized by the Zenit and Russia fans to take it easy, but I don’t subscribe to that view.
But that is the player he is, don’t expect more from him. He will score and assist and track the ball when it matters and when he is needed, and he will step up when the rest are having a bad day, but it won’t be week in, week out. Most of the time he will be average (for himself, and above average compared to other players) but even in those times he will do something brilliant. But don’t expect an amazing 90 minutes overall from him.
This is my understanding of him as a player watching him from his early Zenit and Russia days.

  115. gooby says:

who’s better diaby or denilson? haha

  116. Geoff says:

I think Arsenal blogs are better because of me, frankly.

My innovative journalism, my razor sharp wit, my ability to let things wash over me and last but not least, my tolerance.

  120. km says:

Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas has been crowned PFA Fans’ Player of the Month in the Premier League – and few would argue with that.

Not least his teammates and manager who hold the midfield genius in such high esteem. He’s getting better with age and, considering he’s still only 22, that’s quite frightening.

The Spaniard is the heartbeat of an Arsenal team that many believe play the best, most attractive football of any side in the country. Again, no arguments there.

Premier League Fans’ Player of the Month voting:

    Francesc Fabregas: Arsenal – 30%
    Frank Lampard: Chelsea – 13%
    Didier Drogba: Chelsea – 10%
Craig Bellamy: Manchester City – 10%
    Darren Bent: Sunderland – 4%
    Other: – 33%

The architect of the majority of Arsenal moves, Fabregas also has the ability and vision to get himself on the end of some of them.

Such a knack has prompted manager Arsene Wenger to liken him to Chelsea’s Frank Lampard, who Fabregas just edged out in the October voting.

Wenger says of his skipper: “He’s a bit like Lampard in that he wants to structure the game.

“Cesc likes to be at the start of things and then get on the end of things, and he can push forward more this season because he has two players around him who can defend.”

Fabregas has many fans, hence his latest award, but few are bigger than his Arsenal teammate Theo Walcott who fully appreciates what the captain brings to the team.

Theo says: “He is fantastic to play with because he spots everything on the pitch and times his passes to perfection, so that you don’t even need to break stride.

“He is still so young and, as captain, has a lot of pressure on his shoulders yet he continues to deliver. He is a fantastic person to learn from. It’s hard to believe he is still only 22.”

  121. Geoff says:

  123. ManGoonian says:

Gael Clichy has a stress fracture of the lower back! FFS!

  124. MARK GOONER says:

    thats fucked up

    thats a 2 month injury i think

  125. Franchise says:

SS my knee is coming good thanks i should be good by January. For my own good i have steered clear of the arsenal medical staff :) where 2 weeks could mean 2 months

  126. km says:

YESSSSS —- this gives GIBBS a chance :)

seriously though…..for how long will Clichy be out for?

  127. Silvestre is now the cover for Gibbs

  128. ManGoonian says:

    Thats kinda sick km…

  129. ManGoonian says:

Traore will be the cover for LB

  130. km says:

    sorry MAN…

that was a bit sick … but i really wanna see if Gibbs can do better

  131. km says:

agree with u man on Traore.

  132. ManGoonian says:

    km;

Yeah, I think mosr Gooners do, but sheesh dude! The news has just broken Hael has fucked his back mate! :D

I serioiusly cannot believe the freak injuries we seem to get all the effin time…

  133. Femster says:

What other team has ever had 2 players with stress fractures in their backs in the first 2 months of a season. 1st Denilson now Clichy…
Leads me to think Clichy still had the problems from the end of last season but was not monitored properly.

  134. ManGoonian says:

    Hael = Gael

  135. A says:

Gibbs should be ok tomorrow night but he does worry me a bit, both against brum and liverpool there were times when he got caught way out of position, and when he loses the ball up field he just doesn’t bother chasing back. Hopefully with regular games now he’ll develop and improve, still not ideal

  136. ManGoonian says:

    Its a real gutter for sure. But the saving grace is we are well covered at LB;

Clichy, Gibbs, Traore, Gallas, Vermi, Silvestre can all play there.

  137. SharkeySure says:

Fran – “i have steered clear of the arsenal medical staff ”

    Quality !!

  138. Geoff says:

Gael’s a crock, Gibbs for me will be better, and he’s English which means he’ll be going to the World Cup finals is he plays for Arsenal. And not Cashley Cole.

  139. km says:

true Man…….A i hope he has learnt from his mistake last season

  140. ManGoonian says:

    A;

Woah there man, that is one hell of a sloght on Gibbs and a massive generalisation! To say he never chases back is not true! And of course, the more he plays, the better he will get. Both generally and in terms of his defensive duties.

  141. SharkeySure says:

A – my expectation is that Verm won’t be stood silently watching Gibbs amble back.

  142. ManGoonian says:

Stop trying to be controversial Geffrey!

  143. ManGoonian says:

I think Gibbs has a few games that should (in theory) be games that he can ease into, starting with AZ and then Wolves Saturday…

  144. km says:

    Geoffrey

Gibbs might scrape it as Ashley Cole’s deputy….but there are other contenders

  145. I dont want Traore anywhere near our back 4, pure liability, no position, jogs back into position instead of sprinting. No thank you very much

  146. Geoff says:

I love all my children the same Manc, but as God once said to Lord Nelson at the battle of Trafalgar, one door closes my son, and another one opens.

  147. Geoff says:

Km no mate, they’re all cunts and Cole will get an injury.

  148. gazzap says:

Excellent chance for gibbs to show what he can do. He was on Arsenal.com earlier in the week talking about focussing on Arsenal.

  149. goonermichael says:

Maybe Gibbs gave him a good kicking in training. (like Diaby did to Denilson)

  150. @ KM, Gibbs isnt the efficient article yet however he is better than the deputies like Bridge, Baines, Warnock in terms of 1v1 defending and aerial duels.

  151. ManGoonian says:

    Geoff;

Have you been hitting the cookin sherry again???

Either way, that was effin hilarious mate and very poignant too! Well done me ol china!

  152. km says:

    lol Geoff

so ur gonna go and break ashley’s leg in may and give death threats to the rest…thats the best way i suppose

  153. ManGoonian says:

    supergunner;

I think you are taking your moniker a bit too seriously fella!

You aint manager of AFC yet sunshine! :D

  154. ManGoonian says:

    gazzap;

    Yeah, I liked the way Gibbs said he is focusing only on Arsenal and not concerned with England. Thats exactly how it should be;

    Arsenal first!

  155. B.B.K. says:

just heard the news about clichy WE ARE FUCKED NOW

  156. km says:

    Super & Geoff

Imo Bridge is ahead of him so he needs to play realllly well to get onto that plane

  157. ManGoonian says:

I do think that Clichy’s injury has put paid to any vhances of Mannone coming back into the team. I dont think Wenger will wanna have a rookie keeper and a rookie LB in tha team, together…

  158. Geoff says:

Guys the good lord works in mysterious ways!

  159. ManGoonian says:

    BBK;

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaaa!!! Right on cue!

  160. Duke says:

I love Gibbs, but Clichy just started being his old self (pre-brum) and he goes and gets injured. FUUUCK!

  161. km says:

Relax BBK…..u need to give the kids a chance one day. Imo Gibbs played really well last seasons bar a few slip-ups :)

  162. ManGoonian says:

    Geoff;

The way you are chattin, I believe you mate!

  163. B.B.K. says:

no i don’t need to give the kids a chance we all know what happend when gibbs had his chance in the semi last season

  164. km says:

    Imagine if L’pool lose 2nite against Lyon… !!

  165. ManGoonian says:

Clichy out a few weeks, so could be a month then…?

    So, thats;

Eduardo, Fabianksi, Nasri, Denilson, Rosicky, Almunia, Theo, Djourou, Bendtner, Clichy, Vela, Wilshire, Diaby who all are or were injured for weeks/months!

  166. MARK GOONER says:

at this moment in time there is no positive to be taken from us losing our best left back for 2-3 months

maybe after it will be , if gibbs comes in and performs from the off

but that is a big IF

  167. ManGoonian says:

    BBK;

Sorry, but that is bollocks Every effin player makes mistakes, thats the price you pay for blooding yutes bruv.

Its when players dont learn from there mistakes, then you have a problem. And to be honest, Clichy has not been playing as well as he can…

  168. SharkeySure says:

Bridge is just too one dimensional to get on that plane in my opinion.

We even saw Milner played at LB for England cos there’s a need for some of your cover players to be more flexible than Bridge is.

So someone like Lescott is a better bet cos he can play CB and LB.

Gibbs is way more versatile than Bridge and that may swing it in his favour….

Still a very long shot though…

  169. Clichy is up to a month out, in way i have been worried about our lack of height for set-plays so Gibbs is another player we can use or aerial cross-field ball that Pool done to Gilbert’s side in the CC.

  170. ManGoonian says:

    Ive seen bigger IFs Mark…

Who said it was 2-3 months anyways?

  171. B.B.K. says:

so what mg,gibbs is gonna come in with all his experience and have a magical time

  172. km says:

agree with u on Lescott – he may be an ugly bastard but he is versatile

  173. A says:

Mang I wouldn’t say it’s a generalisation – I wasn’t generalising! In both the games against Brum and Pool in situations where he lost the ball up field and got caught behind the play a bit he didn’t bust a gut to get back, but just jogged along in a “ah well nothing I can do” sort of way, which I didn’t like at all. As Sharkey said though I doubt anyone in the first team will stand for it, and with games his all round game should develop. Nice start for him too, home tomorrow, then away at Wolves, easing him in gently.

This is a massive opportunity for Gibbs, could be his Cole/Silvinho moment, couple of months to become our number one left back

  174. goonermichael says:

    BBK lol

  175. ManGoonian says:

We are destined never to have a fully fit squad it seems!

    Geoff;

Have a word with the big man upstairs please!

  176. km says:

time to get a hot chocolate boys – back now lads!

  177. ManGoonian says:

    A;

So, basically, you agree with what I have already said then? Thanks!

  178. ManGoonian says:

    A;

Rosicky is in the squad for tomorrow fella…

  179. ManGoonian says:

    BBK;

Yes, thats it precisely! Well done!

  180. A says:

Nah Mang – you said what I said was “a hell of a slight on Gibbs and a massive generalisation” and I disagree with that totally!

Good news Rosicky in the squad, how does everyone know these things?! Has the press conference happened I take it? Where’s the info from it?

  181. Jaguar says:

    Clichy out for a month,FFS.

  182. ManGoonian says:

    ————————–
    A;

No, that bit above I meant.

I still think you are way off with your slating of Gibbs. You ought to be ashamed of yourself!!!

  183. Jaguar says:

Has Diaby been included in the squad for tomorrow? If he is being rested(which means Wenger considers him as a major player) I would be worried.

  184. ManGoonian says:

    A;

Most articles reporting Clichy’s injury all state Rosickys in the CL squad for tomorrow.

    Im like gone Daddio…

  185. ManGoonian says:

    Jaguar;

Your obsession with Diaby is bananas dude!

Clichys broekn hius back and all you STILL go on about is Diaby…

Seek medical advice fella, NOW!

  186. A says:

Ah ok, coolio, I’m just waiting for the official press conference, wanna know all the news in detail! Saying that Gibbs makes mistakes isn’t slating him, it’s a rational critique of him! He’s still a long way behind clichy defensively, but I have high hopes for him.

A month isn’t that bad though

  187. goonermichael says:

You would be worried jaguar? You are constantly worried about Diaby.

  188. nishanth says:

    rosicky is back

  189. goonermichael says:

You know it’s not going to be a month A. Probably 3. How long has Denilson been out? Isn’t that a similar injury?

  190. nishanth says:

I think gibbs will do well.He is better going forward than clichy.Delighted that rosicky is back

  191. A says:

I dunno GM, doesn’t sound anywhere near as serious as Denilson, or as serious as SSN made out

“We fear a stress fracture of the back, we will know more on Tuesday but if it is the case he’ll be out for a few weeks.”

  192. nishanth says:

    Still no vela though

  193. MARK GOONER says:

    super super tom

  194. afc says:

looks like nasri rosicky fabregas rvp and nasri will be in the same team

  195. Ja_Gunner says:

Guys dont worry too much about Clichy…

For once the Internationalk break will help us….the break is a full 2 weeks so at least clichy will have that time to recover and will probably be back early December…

The only big game he will miss is the Chelsea game…so its not that bad, I feel Wenger will rotate Gibbs and Silvestre there…

Gibbs at home and Silvestre away maybe for experience…hopefully they can handle it…

We better pray that none of our CB’s go down cuz we will only have one back up…thats Sendy….I dont mind him coming in for a few games though…

Then when Denilson returns..we have Song as another backup…even though I feel a Song + vermy partnership is pretty short.

  196. Geoff says:

Ha, ha Inside, it couldn’t have happened to two nicer blokes! Top bear!!!

  197. A says:

Ja if Silvestre plays I’ll eat my hat! Even if Clichy got injured I’d expect and certainly hope Traore to come in rather than Silvestre

  198. WB says:

i think clichy’s injury could do wonders to gibbs world cup chances

  199. A says:

Gives good balance in midfield, very strong in the tackle and good in the air. Been playing a bit deeper lately

  200. nishanth says:

    Good in the air?Strange one

  201. nishanth says:

did he say anything about vela

  202. A says:

Rosicky in the squad but not fit to start, Gibbs will play every game and Traore is sub left back, Bendtner out for a minimum of 4 weeks, they fear Clichy has a stress fracture, not confirmed, but they’ll know more later tonight, and if he does it’ll be a few weeks out, Almunia will start tomorrow with Mannone on the bench.

That’s about all that was said of note

  203. WB says:

    good in air….diaby,is wenger sure?

  204. A says:

yeah, very strange nisanth! he said nothing about vela, because noone asked him anything about vela, damn crappy journos

  205. nishanth says:

Really getting annoying now.Its almost like vela is not that important.

  206. A says:

nisanth I’d guess it’s just because there weren’t any Mexican journalists in the press room

  207. Rohan says:

The Rosicky is back!!! Hell yeah.. him and Nasri haven’t played together yet.. both of them along with cesc, rvp and arshavin will be a wengerball overkill…

Moving on, I went to the Kings of Leon concert last Saturday and it was fecking awesome.. probably one of the best live performances I’ve seen. They did sing more than half of the songs from the latest album though…

  208. km says:

    hmmmmmm…..will Rosicky start??

    It could be

    Sagna Gallas TV Gibbs

    Cesc Song Diaby

    TR7/Nas RvP ARSH

  209. rob green says:

    A Traore
    Wilshere
    C Vela
    L Fabianski
    T Rosicky
    N Bendtner
    T Walcott
    Denilson
    J Djourou

    and now clichy is injured

  210. Pedro says:

That stress fracture that Clichy has is a result of over training… there will be repercussions within the medical set up if that’s the case…

Two lower back stress fractures inside 3 months, what a joke!

    Tony Colbert… tut tut

  211. KM says:

Vela back for the w/end imo

  212. nishanth says:

I hope its something like this

    Almunia

    Eboue Vermaelen Gallas/Senderos Gibbs

    Cesc Song Nasri

    Merida/Ramsey RVP Arshavin

  213. A says:

km no wenger said he isn’t fit to start.

I was thinking it would be

    Almunia

    Sagna/Eboue Gallas Vermy Gibbs

    Cesc Song Nasri

    Eduardo VP Arshavin

but Wenger likes to have a forward player on the bench, so maybe Nasri rather than one of Eduardo or Arshavin, with Diaby in midfield, or even Eboue in, or Merida a shock inclusion!

  214. KM says:

we need to sort out our medical dept. to deal with injuries

  215. A says:

scratch rosicky off that list though rg

  216. A says:

It isn’t the medical department, it’s a number of issues, the way we play, nature of our players, fact that we prioritise agility over strength, oh and diaby. What’s the betting diaby had something to do with Clichy’s injury?!

  217. afc says:

ive been reading this blog for so long
but the thought of all these players in the same team made me so exited i just had to comment

  218. SharkeySure says:

Afc – And you really knocked yourself out picking a name as well!!!

No offence afc ….just having a slow work day

  219. afc says:

the blog is still too negative
but i think thats why i keep coming here
some positivity would be nice once in a while though

  220. Pedro says:

I thought the post was pretty positive AFC?

  221. KM says:

lol SS……i like ur black humour :)

    afc….there’s always 2 sides to a coin

  222. Pedro says:

It’s the way we train A… it has nothing to do with the way we play.

Stress fractures come from over training…

Trust me, I have professional knowledge on these things.

  223. KM says:

    Pedro

i think you should ban AFC :)

haha…..just kidding AFC…ur lucky Geoffrey isnt here ;)

  224. KM says:

    Pedro

i play on Sunday too….5/7 a side for a few hours. However i always find that my body aches likes a bitch for 2 days….but i still dnt stop :)

  225. afc says:

i think the fact that we are winning nowadays means happier times on the grove

  226. Pedro says:

    AFC, of course…

Happier times in life when we’re winning!

KM, I ache pretty bad after football… streching out after a game does you wonders, I’d recommend it to anyone!

  227. AndAPrayer says:

Is Wilshere still injured? surely a knock on the ankle has cleared up by now.

Also when is Traore due back? He’ll not be good left back cover if he’s still out.

  228. Rohan says:

I was on a 4 day concert extravaganza last weekend ( F1 in Abu dhabi and all that )..including Kings of Leon, Aerosmith and Timbaland ( meh ).. I’m absolutely knackered now..my whole body aches.aaahhh

  229. A says:

    I still blame Diaby Pedro….

AndAPrayer Traore is back in training on Thurs, no idea about wilshere

  230. SharkeySure says:

AFC…well then you have to spread some positivity…or pull people up (respectfully) who you feel are too negative….

Shine some light into their dark little lives.

There’s two on here (you know who they are) who get more stick than anyone cos of their rabid dislike of certain players – Diaby and Bendtner.

Those two are almost barred from saying AD or NB were shit even when everyone else thinks or says it

  231. zee says:

wenger says clichy will be out ‘a few weeks’ gibbs will be fine – hope the irish kick the shit out of evra for 180mins

  232. AndAPrayer says:

ta for the Traore info, I waited with bated breath for Wilshere news, it’d be good for him to get some Champions League games if we’re qualified in time.

  233. Pedro says:

A, can’t disagree with you there… he is a clutz of epic proportions…

    I bet he doesn’t have a no claims discount…

  234. Rohan says:

Sharkey, isnt there another one with a rabid dislike of Wenger…. :D
Come to think of it, he did appear after the 2 draws against AZ and West ham.. dunno why he never comes on when we are doing well. It’s almost that he wants us to do badly so that he can be justified.

  235. zeus says:

Shocking that we still have so many injuries. Clichy appears to have suffered the same injury that displaced him for the last few months of the season, while Bendtner……“Nicklas we still do not know yet but we suspect four weeks.” This said by Wenger.

This just re-enforces my belief that our backroom medical staff are incapable of properly diagnosing and treating injuries,, nor have they shown any indication that they have preventative measures put in place to avoid injuries we already know that there is a high percentage of happening again.
And by this I mean Clichy’s injury, which from what I gather can’t be cured just managed.

  236. afc says:

yeah ive seen that too gunnersmith
    had a laugh

  237. zee says:

rosicky will not start tomorrow – surely thats confirmation that nasri will

  238. KM says:

i found this really funny from an earlier poster –

  239. SharkeySure says:

Rohan…I wanna guess the name, but we’re not reaklly naming and shaming today are we..??

I put up the theory of no-one wanting to be wrong some time ago.

Ergo it follows that if you predict ‘armageddon’ then you’re in a strange strange place when we win/do well.

Happy cos we won, but so so wrong in terms of your ‘expert analysis’

  240. afc says:

i think the dif between this season and last season is that even though we have so many injuries we still have enough players to replace them

  241. KM says:

zee – i thought that too. Nasri starts and maybe rosicky comes on for him l8r. I hope Ramsey comes on for Diaby l8r on if we’r winning comfortably

  242. A says:

zeus gary lewin was one of if not THE top physio around, and the new bloke is considered an absolute expert, having been the British Lions physio. Injuries are complex and you can’t diagnose them immediately, you can’t know until inflammation has gone down so you can do scans and such like

  243. afc says:

    as an added bonus
we get to see new signings every week!!!

  244. Coadsi says:

Afternoon all, i just saw the free training video on arse.com. About 1:30-1:35 there was a clip of gibbs, ramsey and another person. could someone please say who he is?
    thanx

  245. A says:

KM it’ll be interesting, Wenger has said Nasri is primarily going to feature in a more defensive role in the new system, though that just means not as a wide forward, but CAN play as one of the wide men if necessary, as long as there’s a forward on the other side to balance it out. When fully fit I expect to see Nasri in Diaby’s position, but if he isn’t fit at the moment maybe he could play as one of the wide men tomorrow, rest Arshavin or keep Eduardo fresh for the weekend?

I’d rather Merida started as a wide forward and Nasri in for Diaby though

  246. Pedro says:

Zeus, it’s not the medical team… they’re the ass end of the process… it’s the fitness coaching that is the problem.

The players are being over worked, that’s why they are picking up these preventable injuries…

  247. A says:

    Coadsi that looks like Miquel

  248. Geoff says:

And of course there’s the other type of weasel that comes on and spends all day telling other people how negative they are, that’s being negative in itself is it not?

Or has that zipped over a few heads?

  249. Pedro says:

I believe Sharkey pointed that out Geoff.

  250. chozzer says:

    2 minuses make a plus

  251. KM says:

Rosicky : Wenger’s style is extraordinary… that sounds so gay :)

    http://www.sport.co.uk/news/Football/29294/Rosicky_Wengers_style_is_extraordinary.aspx

  252. Geoff says:

Yes I did say Weasel, it’s from the rodent family, they pick over other peoples rubbish. And sneak around.

  253. Coadsi says:

    Thanx A,

  254. nishanth says:

I expect us to thrash AZ tomorrow.

  255. afc says:

did anyone see that funny ass kick of eboue’s at 00:32 in the training video.what a joker

  256. nishanth says:

Rosicky started 4 games in 2 weeks before he got injured. We should be more careful with him

  257. Man says:

So Pedro, you saying we should train less?

I think before now Clichy’s injury record has been quite good. Correct me if I’m wrong but this is the most serious injury he’s had since he’s been with us…a bit like Denilson…over the past two seasons they’ve both played quite a few games and it was only natural, a matter of when not if

  258. A says:

Miquel must’ve been impressing to train with the first team squad, guess he can play left back too, maybe just shows how much faith Wenger has in Silvestre to play left back, which can only be a good thing!

If the players in the video are the squad for tomorrow, then

    Almunia
    Mannone

    Sagna
    Eboue
    Gallas
    Vermy
    Senderos
    Silvestre
    Miquel
    Song
    Cesc
    Nasri
    Diaby
    Rosicky
    Merida
    Ramsey
    Arshavin
    Eduardo
    VP

    That’s 19 players

  259. KM says:

    nishanth

that pic doesnt do her justice…..she’s the sort of girl who knocks u off ur feet when u see her in person :)

  260. Geoff says:

KM she has plastic tits, I hate birds with them, like that monster Jordan, yuk.

The bird from Essex had a nice boatrace though, I’ll give her that, and you can see she likes people staring at her tits, but then you do and they get all arsey.

  261. afc says:

what i meant to say was that all the negative comments actually do have a point which is why i like this blog. however there are many positives that are not highlighted as much

  262. KM says:

  267. KM says:

    training clip was awesome…loved it

Check out Wenger with his skill ;)

    Eduardo didnt look happy (?)

    Eboue is a legend :)

  268. KM says:

oh yeh the Vito Mannone bit was funny at the beginning :

    ‘Is it Friday live?’

‘yeh thats what we’v been talking abt” :)

  269. zee says:

KM loved the bit from rosicky when asked what wd he be if not a footballer and said ice hockey player!!!!! You having a laugh tomas!!!! Ice hockey stick, maybe

  270. A says:

KM in the last video Wenger did impressive keep ups and balanced the ball on his head!

  271. zee says:

friday night is back and soon there’ll be a post match show called end zone featuring tom watt with wite teeth, risque skirt and his own arsenal soccer pom poms

    Subs
    Mannone

    Diaby
    Rosicky
    EDS

  273. Pedro says:

Man, they should train more effectively.

Both Clichy and Denilson have suffered stress injuries. Those are injuries from training too hard. We’re about 12 odd games into a season, that shouldn’t be happening especially as there wasn’t a world cup this past summer.

Impact injuries aren’t avoidable… soft tissue ones are.

Teams like Fulham and Villa have tiny squads and very few injuries… why? They manage their players fitness better than we do.

It’s not by chance we’re top of the injury league nearly every year.

  274. goonermichael says:

Talking of women. If any of you have ever seen mutv (no reason to obviously, but I have a “special” tv box) It is hosted by a fucking right minger. The girl who used to do atv was much nicer

  275. afc says:

i think we are the only club that has scored in every single one of our games
when teams play against us they should get the feeling that they have to score to get anything from the match which would work to our advantage

  276. Emperor Gooner says:

“He is very strong in the challenge, good in the air, has a work rate and gives us good balance in midfield.”

    wenger on diaby!!

WTF!!! as much as i respect wenger , sometimes i feel he talks straight out of his arse.

  277. goonermichael says:

actually everyone/everything associated with manu is pig ugly

  278. zee says:

geoff in response to your post i think stanley doesnt just want to get straight to the takeover threshold of 29.9% as he sees it as too clumsy and direct. He wants to knock it about a bit first, 0.3 here, 0.3 there, stroke his new shares a bit then complete the perfick takeover

  279. finestcuts says:

I’ve just heard the dreadful news about Clichy, I hope he gets well soon. I’m not concerned at all about the prospect of Gibbs playing in the first team. I hope Clichy makes a swift recovery, but it looks like he’ll be hanging out with Rosicky for a while vut hopefully Rosicky will end his injury spell soon.

  280. A says:

finest rosicky is fit and in the squad tomorrow

  281. goonermichael says:

Rosicky is in the squad finest

  282. finestcuts says:

Thanks A, very pleased to hear that.

  283. finestcuts says:

    And goonermichael.

  284. Emperor Gooner says:

now let’s hope rosicky stays fit so on saturday we might see that fabulous five we’ve been waiting to play together for so long

  285. Stu says:

    Evening all…how is everyone? Good.

Now that thats done with…any good arsenal news going around? Looking forward to tomorrow nights match and tonights too. Hopefully the Milan Madrid rematch will be as good as the first one.

  286. leon says:

risicky may be back but i garantee he wont start no chance wenger will be extremly corsious with him same with nasri,he will be very cerful with edwardo as well but with vela, brenta and thoe injured he hand will be forced,i not realy worried about gibbs he has 1-2 mistakes but too many he has looked very impressive i would be worried with troare at left back as defensively very poor but very good going forward.wenger might have to take chance on fringe players in merida and ramsey,at least diaby has sorted out his fitness i give him that

  287. KM says:

l8r’s boys! gonna use some of Wenger’s training tips tonight….. cowaaaaabunga!!!

  288. A says:

leon wenger has said he won’t start so you don’t need to guarantee it!

I agree about fringe players, I’d like to see one of merida or ramsey start, preferably the former, just because with nasri likely to start i’d like to see him in midfield rather than out wide, but i’d be happy with ramsey in midfield and nasri more advanced.

I’m not too fussed what the team is really as long as Nasri starts rather than Diaby, then one of Eduardo, Merida, or Ramsey

  289. Man says:

    I understand your frustrations Pedro

  290. KM says:

Stu….the last match between the 2 was alright 3/5

  291. Stu says:

Start Masri in midfield, Merida or Eduardo on the left and bring Ramsey on either at HT or 60minutes for Nasri. BOOM!!

  292. KM says:

    frustrations…… ? ? :)

  293. leon says:

a i realy feel diaby could good at dm position he stays desaplined and just keeps forcused on protecting the defence and help song and cuts out the silly passing, does not need to best footballer flamster what not the best foootballer either but worked his socks off we have more tha enough creative players bith senior and young players comming through this team needs more steel, but it a bit worrying how thin we are in terms of strikers right now the injuries are pilling up and if edwardo or rvp gets injured we will have a problem

  294. SharkeySure says:

Diaby’s a big lump who usually has good energy.

Yeah he has some very poor aspects to his game, but he’s mainly there just to get up and down the pitch.

For all his faults I bet if some of you played with him/alongside him you’d appreciate him just that bit more.

His size makes him very useful for the role that he is asked to play. Whether he heads a ball well or not, he’s a very big unit to get above or around.

Defensively he gives us a lot whilst still posing a goal threat.

Against Brum he was very (fairly?) good in both directions

  295. SharkeySure says:

    “other peoples rubbish” !!!

    You said it Geoff !!!

  296. Pedro says:

Sharkey, I’m with you on the Diaby thing…

He made the most successful tackles in the Spurs game… and is often the highest tackler on the pitch.

There’s not stat for losing the ball unnecessarily… he’d probably be best at that as well.

The potential is there… he just has to realise it.

  297. Geoff says:

Blimey Sharkey, you only just read it, I thought it was very witty!

  298. A says:

leon diaby doesn’t read the game well enough to really give the defence protection. He can use his physical attributes as long as he’s a second DM alongside a proper DM like Song is playing, or even someone who reads the game well like Denilson, but not by himself. IMO Flamini couldn’t play the DM role by himself either though for the same reason, his reading of the game is very poor, but his energy is just incredible and in his good season he was perfect for the system we played, winning the ball high up the pitch, but he didn’t give the defence proper protection in deeper areas as he couldn’t read the game very well.

  299. Geoff says:

I thought we all agreed not to spend anytime debating the marmites???

You can’t all have it both ways.

  300. SharkeySure says:

“The potential is there” – Pedro

Thats why I dont get all this sell him stuff….

The moderate view of benching him or subbing him I can understand, but you can’t sell a young player with that much (latent?) talent.

  301. ardentgooner says:

i think we can cope with Clichy’s absence…remeber we had Flamini playing at LB for a long time…and we did ok with that…here we have a great guy in Gibbs filling in which is not bad at all….

  302. Pedro says:

Sharkey, I wouldn’t sell him… knowing our luck he’d explode onto the scene as soon as he left!

Some players are worth persisting with… he is one of them.

I read in an article saying Wenger was in two minds about who to play in goal tomorrow… that’s interesting.

I also read an article about Redknapp and how he doesn’t care for money…

Queue a huge dollop of LOL.

  303. A says:

Sharkey I agree, he certainly has something to offer, he’s our only offensive minded midfielder with any physicality, he can put his foot in, strong in the tackle, and powerful going forward. It’ll be interesting what happens when Nasri is fully fit though. Diaby offers a physicality that we wouldn’t have with Cesc and Nasri, but I’m not sure we’ll need that in most games, Song’s physical enough to cover that, except for games against the likes of Stoke and Chelsea where we need a bit more.

  304. Pedro says:

A, I thought Diaby was knocked all over the place against Spurs. I actually think he is relatively weak considering how tall he is…

  305. A says:

Pedro in the press conference Wenger said Almunia will start, so not sure where the being in two minds thing came from?!

  306. Pedro says:

Ahh right, the Telegraph or the Times website had the article.

  307. ManGoonian says:

Whoever said Clichy has got a broekn back from carrying Diaby is just too cruel…Who said that?

  308. ManGoonian says:

It was yesterdays, or last nights? Telegraph. Same one that said Fabianski has all the bits n pieces to be World Class!

    I conker with that…

  309. Pedro says:

    Me too Mang…

  310. A says:

I dunno Pedro, he’s stronger than he’s given credit for, when he’s stable he boshes people all over the place, but it seems to me that when his feet aren’t planted he gets knocked off balance easily and gets out-strengthed as a result of that

  311. Pedro says:

    Poor balance…

I’m sure the balance will come as he bulks… like it did with Ade.

  312. A says:

Telegraph and Times are silly, as are most papers actually! The sports desks seem to be very limited in their footballing knowledge, as you’d expect they all know a little about a lot, which means when they report on your team they generally know less than you!

Fabianski will be awesome, so disappointed he got injured, really expected him to take the number one shirt after the Liverpool game and never look back

  313. ManGoonian says:

Nasri is as strong as an ox, tenacious as a rottweiller, as graceful as a swan and deadlier than a rattlesnake…

When he is 100% the midfield will be effin awesome, I tell thee…

  314. leon says:

a i dont realy agree with that diaby may be big but for a player of his size he cant hold the ball up that well and he cant realy header e he the ball very well however is a good tackler,i feel people look at nasri and because is small people dont think he is that strong but i think they very wroung he is very strong player and can hold the ball up alot better than diaby and feel nasri is also good tackler poeple confuse size with stregth, diaby gets in touble trying hold ball up with very little success and gives ball away.in our current squad there too many players who pass the ball alot better and hold the ball up better than him,i dont see him having much chance getting anywere as an offensive player

  315. zee says:

A/pedro not being funny but shouldn’t his balance be there now? Agree A he does get knocked off the ball alarmingly for a bloke who stature-wise should be far more of a dominator for us. I’m still shaking my head at how out of his depth he looked on Sat, it really was outstanding in a bad way.

  316. A says:

Yeah Mang, with Song holding, and Nasri, Cesc, Rosicky, Arshavin and VP ahead of him the number of goals in that attacking 5 is scary. Then Theo, Vela, Bendtner, Eduardo to come off the bench

  317. ManGoonian says:

    A;

Thats exactly how I saw it too. Fabianski was pencilled in for the spuds game and then kick on from there, with Mannone and Almunia playing in the domestic Cup games…

  318. zee says:

mango, bring on the rattle-swoxweiler tomorrow night

  319. Arsenal Tom says:

hopefully with more games diaby will do this season what song did last

  320. ManGoonian says:

I do think that Diaby is learning a new role though. More disciplined and defensive than his natural attacking instincts. I think he has done well and is definitely worth holding onto…

  321. Pedro says:

Zee, he played very badly, but his stats don’t read that poorly.

I know, I know… stats don’t tell the whole story… but they do tell a story… he is trying to become more defensive and become a more rounded player.

He made the most successful tackles, and the most overall attempts…

As for balance… if you bulk up, it doesn’t matter, no one can get past you!

  322. ManGoonian says:

    zee;

    Yeah for sure! Hahaa!

  323. ManGoonian says:

As long as Diaby doesnt try and be as well rounded as Paul “fatty” Robinson…

  324. Pedro says:

    Badum Tsch….!

    Right, off out…

  325. Mayank says:

    Pedro,

It’s not by chance we’re top of the injury league nearly every year.

Didn’t you see that the other top team with the more athletic and technical players were top of the injury list.
I still think that’s the reason, however you could be right.

  326. Pedro says:

    I didn’t see the league table Mayank…? I was being metaphorical…

  327. ManGoonian says:

    Pedro;

Ha! Thanks for the comedy drums there fella!

    Seeya next time…

  328. zee says:

pedro, take your point re more defensive role. It’s funny though how a bloke can have such a similar physique to vieira, yet have none of pv’s massive intimidating presence.

  329. Pedro says:

    Ahhh… Everton… so technical!

Off out, no calling each other cunts when I’m gone…

  330. ManGoonian says:

We only have an offer from Arsenal but Fran Merida has an illness, for want of a better word, and that is Atletico Madrid and you can’t do anything about that,’ said Diaz.
‘It started in 1996 when Atletico won the league and the Copa del Rey. He slept on red and white sheets, he followed Atletico whenever he had the chance.

‘Even when he was with his family he wore a gold ring with the Atletico badge stuck on it.’

Merida’s family are also said to be keen on his returning to Spain next July and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger looks set to lose one of his brightest youth prospects.
    —————————————-
    Little feckin glory hunter!

  331. ManGoonian says:

    Pedro;

    Laters ya c*nt…

  332. leon says:

zee -pedro diaby and viera both look so similer but different mentality, viera was an extremly agresive player hence the great rilalry with roy keen and mentaly take no crap from no one,in contrast diaby is a very plasid person diaby is squad player nothing more but can do a job as dm but he needs disapline

  333. Mayank says:

If he was so in love with AM why didn’t he just go there, must be easier to get into their academy than Barca’s…

  334. Mr B says:

“All three goals were scandalous, there wasn’t a good goal amongst them,” added Redknapp.

“Giving Fabregas the ball from the kick-off [after the first goal] was Sunday morning football.

    Oh My! Oh My!

    Still sore from the weekend.

  335. zee says:

leon, diaby’s 6’2, he’s 23 and his balance and strength should be there. Remember after the 50p header at OT, Wenger said Diaby can be our powerhouse. He’s got the physique, he should have the strength. He looks a real athlete. All i’m saying is he should be more dominant for us than he is. Just cos he might be shy is no reason for him to think he cannot impose himself more.

  336. Mr B says:

Man I think hes bigger than 6’2″. Theres a picture of him and denilson celebrating and Denilson could fit into his pocket. Honestly but I think Wenger does that to players. He dosent like them to be aggressive, he like them to play pretty. So unless a player is born with an aggressive mentality he is not going to develop one under Wenger.

  337. zee says:

mr b – wenger’s first signing was the most physical dominating midfield warrior we’ve ever had in the premier league

  338. Mr B says:

I think thats why the genuine wenger boys lack grit. Lee Dixon was talking about how the team played badly in the CL under wenger. At half time Wenger had a go at them he was realy angry. He was holding a crushed paper cup in his fist. When he was leaving he threw it at the basket. It hit the basket and fellout. So he came back in through the door, bent over, picked up the cup and put it in the basket. Dixon didnt say this but the talk must have lost it edge right about then. See Wenger is too civilised, too much of a good guy, so unless u have a strong and mature personality, that will rub off on to u.

  339. zee says:

are you sure diaby didnt put the cup in the bin for him?!!??

  340. Mr B says:

See zee he can but those players but he cant develop them. heres a link to the article I was quoting Dixon from.

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/arsenal/article6256310.ece

  341. Mr B says:

Zee dont try to be a Cunt because I tell u, U dont need to try. ;)

  342. Paul88 says:

If the clichy injury is a stress fracture he’s more likely to be out for between 6-10 weeks, not the “few weeks” like wenger has said. It’s an injury commonly seen in crickters with bowling.

  343. leon says:

zee it snot about size its abount mentality and diaby jus ainst got it

  344. SUGA3 says:

why we conceded fuck all goals in our run to CL Final?

because we had a nasty fecker in the shape of Keown amongst our coaching staff, he taught them grit and aggression, Flamini wouldn’t do so well in the back four if it wasn’t for Keown IMO…

and I think it was criminal to play Cuntley instead of MF in the final…

  345. zee says:

mr b – diaby has a chance, wenger clearly likes him. We all (wenger included surely) want him to have more impact for us, especially as a tall fella surrounded by smaller red and white wizards everywhere.

  346. paul says:

Pedro no contact for the ticket yet i find that strange.

  347. SUGA3 says:

    leon,

Diaby is just lazy, and has the same Big Time Charlie attitude Adebayor had – having dolphin head Diarra (whose attitude is shit as well) as a best mate since their days in France says it all…

  348. Mr B says:

Zee everyone sees the potential, he has the physique and skill that Viera had(I remember Viera tip toeing past three succsesive tackles) but will he ever achive it? is he hungry enough?

See I myself(and most of my mates) am a nasty player. I ussualy get into fights in games for fouling and being fouled. Its the way I play (it helps that im 6’1″ and 85kgs).

Ive been tring to teach my nephew that. Hes 6 but looks 8 but hes just too shy and timid even though hes bigger than other kids.

  349. leon says:

sug i think its very unfair to compaire diaby to a man who has no loyalty and just maney grabber diaby is offensive player who has no end product learning to play defensive role

  350. zee says:

Mr B, fair do’s mate, I don’t think he does have the hunger and I don’t think he’ll establish himself with us. Maybe even he doesn’t realise what a chance he has, it won;t get any better for him. I read that dixon piece, Yaya would be great signing but it aint gonna happen is it. Just havin a little joke about abou and the cup mate, no need to call me a cunt you rotter

  351. ManGoonian says:

    Suga3;

Thi8s urban myth that keown is the main reason we went without coinceding in the CL is kinda simplistic and most probs, completely untrue!

If that was the case, how come the defence in the Premier league (where Keown has 98% of his experience) was soooo shite?

  352. ManGoonian says:

And as for Diaby being lazy… i imagine his languid style gives that appearance, but it isn’t true either.

Sorry, I aint on some kind of mission to pull you up on everything, honest!

  353. Honest Bill says:

Diaby just needs a bit of bottle and he’ll be fine. We know he is technically gifted, he’s just unable to use it effectively when he needs to (most of the time)

  354. Pat says:

Clichy’s injury is a big blow. He was getting back to his best and will miss the CHelsea game. Why the fuck do we get so many injuries. Season after season, we’re always hit the hardest. At least Rosicky is back.

Bendtner, Vela, Traore, Fabianski, Walcott, Denilson

  355. ManGoonian says:

I think he’s been doing well of late BillyBob… Bit more solid and defensive to boot!

Right, Im off darn the pub, laters…

  356. paul says:

Anyone know of someone that wants a ticket for tommorow

  357. paul says:

Thought the reserves were poor last night

  358. Jaguar says:

I wasted five precious minutes reading about a waste of space in an Arsenal shirt.

  359. Stu says:

Anyone here watching the CSKA match? Wanna keep an eye on Akinfeev.

  360. Pat says:

I want Neuer at Arsenal. He’;s better than the russian

  361. Stu says:

Flamini on the bench for Ac yet again. When will Leonardo learn?

  362. Stu says:

I wouldnt disagree with that Pat. Neuer certainly does look like a legend in the making.

  363. Ja_Gunner says:

The games are boring so far

  364. Stu says:

Its only 10minutes in Ja. Give them time.

  365. SUGA3 says:

Keown is a character and that must have added another dimension to our coaching staff but that is my opinion…

watching Milan – Real game, not much of end product so far…

    Geriatricos v Galacticos :?:

  366. WB says:

there is very less chances of getting neuer, because bayern is after is him and they have the history of spending crazy money.
    anyone here rate asengo?

  367. Ja_Gunner says:

Manure is still benefiting from fear.

The Russians are offering nothing….they are afraid to commit numbers forward ….Manure is dominating but the match is boring….

Wolfsburg attacked Manure and scored first….but then they panicked…they did not know whether to go for more or just hold…they got caught in 2 minds and Manure launched a comeback….helped by a stupid deflection from a Giggs freekick……why do they always get that luck?

  368. Stu says:

We have a better chance of getting Neuer than Asenjo imo.

We could use Lehmanns influence to get Neuer. Mad Jens loves us.

  369. SUGA3 says:

no, MG, that is not style, he just can’t be arsed to run…

I’ve seen him leaving plenty of space on the side and leaving the fullback exposed…

I just want a more disciplined player there while Clichy is out…

  370. WB says:

i know he is a big fan of lehmann, but i dont think influence plays any role in deciding club, money is deciding factor in most of cases

  371. Stu says:

AC need to take Ronaldinho off and go back to basics with a 4-4-2. At least then Pato wont be wasted out on the wing.

  372. Ja_Gunner says:

I hope CSka can hold on and beat Manure…

Its very early though and Manure always find a way to weasel themselves back into the game…

  373. Pat says:

The next Arshavin scores an Arshavinesque goal against United.

  374. Stu says:

The only benefit to the world of Wayne Rooney having spawn is that it should affect his sleep and hopefully his football because the mancs are shit without him performing.

  375. Stu says:

    Fuck sake! Equaliser already!

  376. Pat says:

    fucking Owen the cunt

  377. Ja_Gunner says:

    Fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!

    What a bunch of fuckers!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I haaatttttttttteeeeeeeee theeeeeeemmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  378. Stu says:

Dida fucks up again and Madrid score the rebound…fuck sake!

  379. Pat says:

    Looked offside no?

  380. Stu says:

Was Owen offside? I wouldnt be at all suprised if he was.

    GGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLL KRASIC!!!!!!!

  381. SUGA3 says:

    Benzema scored…

  382. Ja_Gunner says:

    Lol…..fuck Manure….

Please Cska hold on til half time atleast!!!!!!!!!!

I think Cska are realising that Manure is not that good…..come on Cska beat the fuckers

  383. SUGA3 says:

    Milan, Milan, viffanculo(sp)

  384. Stu says:

Hahaha uniteds defence is all over the shop! Amazing how losing Ronaldo and Tevez has affected them so much (regardless of the injuries they have tonight)

  385. goonermichael says:

the northern cunts aren’t as solid at the back any more are they?

  386. Stu says:

YES! Penalty for Milan! Better fucking score it!

  387. WB says:

    milan penalty!!!!!!

  388. goonermichael says:

I honestly think the chavs are going to really spank them on sunday 4 or 5

  389. Ja_Gunner says:

Well goonermichael…the media are gonna make the excuse that they didnt have Vidic and Ferdinand….

  390. Stu says:

Well fucking done Ronnie…not start playing well. 1-1

  391. Pat says:

Serb friend of mine was hoping Krasic had a good game so United buy him. He’s a United fan. I’m sure he didn’t have this in mind!

  392. SUGA3 says:

    hahahaha…

    what a fucking dive…

  393. Ja_Gunner says:

Who won the penalty for Milan?

  394. Stu says:

I wish i have picture and picture…or 2 tvs next to eachother. im having to switch back and forth between the 2 matches.

  395. Stu says:

What the fuck! I turned on the milan match and it was 2-1 but got disallowed. Cunting linesman!

  396. SUGA3 says:

    2:1 Pato

    hahahahahahaha…

  397. Stu says:

Ja, Zambrotta against Pepe. Both players slid in and the ball hit Pepe on the arm.

  398. Ja_Gunner says:

Why did they disallow that Pato goal?

  399. SUGA3 says:

    ahhh, bollox…

  400. WB says:

    it was a handball,
pato disallowed goal was far i think?

  401. Stu says:

Nani is a dirty diving fucker isnt he. Absolutely never a PK. He just collapsed looking for one.

  402. SUGA3 says:

was that for a handball, Stu?

thought it was for the ‘foul’…

  403. Stu says:

Which one Suga? THe pk was handball…dont know about Patos disallowed goal tho.

  404. Pat says:

I’m reading live commentary from the Chelsea game and Reyes is tearing Ashley Cole apart apparently. He’s been the best player on the pitch from what I’m reading

  405. Stu says:

Thats always good to hear Pat.

  406. SUGA3 says:

    thanks, Stu ;)

I always liked Reyes and did not think highly for certain stars of ours for treating him like shite…

  407. WB says:

    stu,how is krasic playing today?
he looked real class in last match

  408. SUGA3 says:

    *of certain stars

  409. Pat says:

    Fletcher is a talentless hack.

  410. Stu says:

He looks class again tonight from what i’ve seen WB. Beating Fabio everytime and lookig very dangerous on the ball in general. Fletcher will probably be told to man mark him from now on tho..

I always liked Reyes too but honestly i could care less about him now. His career hasreally gone down the shitter since leaving us…like most players who want to leave.

  411. Pat says:

Aguero is on the bench against Chelsea. He is extremely hyped up. I don’t rate him. Shit for Argentina and shit aganst us in preseason.

  412. tomstoned says:

i see that Our former superstar..Flamini has gotten the nod again…such a shame he’s such a excellent player that flamoney gay..oops guy sorry

    tom

  413. WB says:

bayern losing 0-1 from bordeaux, gourchuff scores.

  414. Stu says:

    Cracking goal by Dzagoev..

  415. tomstoned says:

    Yeah reyes was …
Gods gift to football….its a shame he didnt grow up and become a man that feckin sissy..

    tom

  416. tomstoned says:

and lets hope flamoney gets a couple of minutes ..but i admit it isnt easy for him with young and upcoming players like seedorf in the team…

    tom

  417. Pat says:

Also, I noticed that United are very dependent on Berba. They play just as well without Rooney, but without Berba they always struggle. He holds the ball up well and oozes confidence. Gives them much more posession in the final 3rd

  418. Stu says:

Thats pretty unfair there Tom, Seedorf is arguably their best midfielder…if not player. Seedorf is a class act.

  419. ardentgooner says:

it would be good to see Bayern and Liverpool play in the Europa League :)

  420. tomstoned says:

Diaby is ten times the player flamoney ever was or will be…flamoney im sorry to say are truly finished as a footballer….its all downhill from here…

but he got what he wanted of his career……money ..money–money must be ….

    tom

  421. Stu says:

Those 2 would probably end up in the final ardent.

  422. Stu says:

“Diaby is ten times the player flamoney ever was or will be…”

What sport are you talking about there Tom? Because it certainly isnt football.

  423. Doublegooner says:

    Mancs 3-1 down !

  424. Pat says:

Diaby might be abetter individual footballer, but nowhere near as effective

  425. SUGA3 says:

come on, Tom, it’s unfair – Reyes was ostracised by a certain clique in the squad, unlike Flam…

  426. Pat says:

    cska 1-3 at OT!

  427. Stu says:

Aw fuck i missed it DG. WHat was it like?

Thats never a penalty! Great decision ref.

  428. tomstoned says:

well Stu ten years ago Seedorf was top class..i agree…and still decent..what flamoney doesnt get is that nomatter who plays in midfield ..he’s not going to play…he is a benchwarmer…nothin more…and remember Stu it was playing in the right team that made him look better than he was…same as hleb..reyes..overmars and many others..

    manu is doin well tonite…

    tom

  429. good on fletcher, wat goes around comes around.

  430. tomstoned says:

    Suga3…

i meet you halfway mate..he was a great player who actually had the chance to become even better….but a man he never was..or will be..im sorry for him ..i quite liked him..

    tom

  431. Ja_Gunner says:

Well I thought that was a pen for Manure….but they get so many calls so its good to see some calls go against them.

    Cmon Cska hold on…..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  432. Stu says:

Cant agree with any of that Tom. Flamini started for them earlier this season. He doesnt start because Ambrosini plays in his position and is clubcaptain.

And its just stupid imo to suggest we made Hleb, Reyes and Overmars look better than they were. Hleb was the one that mad things tick for us during his prime. I wouldnt know about Overmars but Reyes, he was a striker when he joined us and we played him as a left winger…how did that make him look better?

  433. Pat says:

That was a pen, but Fletcher exagerrated.

  434. tomstoned says:

and Stu not to forget petit..who played great at Arsenal and like shite everywhere else ..except maybe 98 for France…Bergkamp didnt get to masterclass before he joined Arsenal either…this is all proven facts Stu..i thought you would agree for once ??

    tom

  435. Stu says:

Thats karma kicking in. Fletcher on Arshavin should have been a pk and im sure he got away with others too.

  436. Pat says:

CSKA needs to play smart and try nicking a 4th when possible

  437. SUGA3 says:

    cool, Tom…

he was OK at Real, then fell out of favour and his career went down the pan…

    shame…

  438. Pat says:

tom, what about Gio? He had his best years at barca, after he left us.

Rooney coming on. Imagine if he got injured before the Chelsea game. They need to keep an eye out on him…and his diving

  439. Stu says:

Agreed Bergy was in his prime at arsenal but we didnt make him. He was amazing at Ajax way before joining us.

Petit we obviously got the best out of. He stupidly left and has since regretted it. INjuries ruined his career after he left us.

  440. tomstoned says:

and Stu just to be nice mate ;) Seedorf is havin a cracker of a game tonite…ill give you that..

whats interesting this year is that it seems like french clubs are on a up…

    tom

  441. tomstoned says:

    fair point Pat..

bronckhorst…did well after moving…but if you ever mention silvinho…im going to leave ;)

    tom

  442. Pat says:

    Evra and rooney on now

  443. Stu says:

Fergie is thick for starting this defence. He couldnt do anyting about the CBs but whats the point of having Evra on the bench. He wouldnt have been much better equiped to deal with Krasic.

Not that i can really complain…im delighted he fucked his team up.

  444. Doublegooner says:

Nobody will convince me that Diaby is any good so far. He’s a misfit, neither defensive or offensive. Irrespective of his injury, January will be 3 years & other than the odd moment counted on 1 hand, he’s been awful.

His style is suited to the slow pace in Italy of France.

IMO, we played mostly with 10 men saturday.

If Wenger can replace him with an effective leader in the middle, Song will grow but will still be under pressure from the up and coming players.

  445. tomstoned says:

Akinfeev is on my Christmas wish list…damned it would be great…

    tom

  446. Stu says:

This January will be 4 years DG. He joined in jan 06.

  447. Pat says:

France is anything but slow pace DG. Probablt one of the fastest, along with Bundesliga, after the PL.

  448. Stu says:

Very poor defending from CSKA. 4 against 2 in their own box and Rooney should have scored that free header.

  449. Stu says:

Really Pat? I dont watch much French football but whenever i have it has been quite boring and a bit slow.

  450. choy says:

Cana would be very nice alongside fab

  451. Pat says:

I’d say 3rd fastest, but it can be boring. I havn’t watched it this season at all after watching for the past 3. Bundesliga is very entertaining though. I love it, really do.

  452. Stu says:

CSKA should make a change up front imo. Necid looks bollocks’d and they will probably be having mostly counter attacks from now on. Carvalho is on the bench isnt he…how’s his season been?

  453. tomstoned says:

    aguero…chelski one down

  454. Stu says:

I got mad into the Bundesliga last season. FUcking love it. But this season all my channels are gone and i havent seen a single match..

  455. illuminati says:

    Goal- Athletico

  456. goonermichael says:

    chav cunts ave it

  457. WB says:

    aguero scored for athletico

  458. Pat says:

Song is a yellow away from suspension. Cana already has 5. Who do we play after Sunderland? I don’t want Song to miss that game cause Sunderland can cause problems. It will be tough unless we really stop being complacent.

  459. Pedro says:

Pat, the Bundasliga is a slow league and I concur with Stu… French football is slow paced until it’s in the final third… you only have to see how long it takes French based players to adapt the pace of the Prem to see that.

  460. Stu says:

I feel obliged to correct the spelling… Atletico (no h) Yeah it shocked me the first time i founf out too.

  461. Pat says:

I said Aguero is overrated…now he scores a cracker

  462. tomstoned says:

Stu you have some of the channels free on the net..RTL amongst others…google it …im sure you’ll find it…

    tom

  463. @ stu, Carvalho of CSKA has lost his mojo like adriano, get accolade as a good player in europe plus the millions then they lose their head. No mental character to play their best over number of years not couple, just look dinho as well

  464. Stu says:

Tom, i cant stand watching matches on streams so thats not really an option.

  465. Pat says:

    Bunesliga is not slow. FACHT!

Gerrard, Johnson, Skrtel, all out of Lyon game btw.

We have to come out all guns blazing against AZ. They’re capable of playing good football, although very rarely against top opposition.

  466. Stu says:

Thanks forthe info Supergunner. Just saw he was on the bench and was wondering, because didnt he score against us a few years ago.

  467. ardentgooner says:

Dida is the worst goal keeper in the CL this season …..

  468. tomstoned says:

ok Stu you could resolve like i have..hook up the pc to my 42″samsung via hdmi cable…usually great..but it depends on the internet speed of course..

    tom

  469. Pat says:

Most Brazilians that were brought up on the streets lose their mojo early on. there are exceptions though. Pato and kaka come from rich families though and they seem level-headed

  470. illuminati says:

QPR are leading 1-0 vs Neil Warnock’s Palace

  471. Stu says:

Honestly Tom, i would rather the tv channels. Just less hassle that way.

  472. Ja_Gunner says:

Pat we play Chelsea after Sunderland…..so I really dont want Song to play against Sunderland…..

Ideally he will play aginst Wolves and pick up a yellow…

Surely we can cope against Sunderland without him….

    We need him for Chelsea..

Against Sunderland I would play Vermy in the holding role and get Sendy in there to combat Kenwyne Jones.

Or just hope thaqt Diaby can have the disclipline to play there for one game…

  473. tomstoned says:

wasnt the west ham-villa game tonite ?

  474. tomstoned says:

    almost aguero again…

  475. ardentgooner says:

    Ja

I think Kenwyne Jones is suspended for our game…

  476. @ stu, no probs, i’m not sure if he did but him & love played very well.

  477. illuminati says:

    ardentgooner-Akinfeyev has been class today

  478. SUGA3 says:

    wasn’t Jones red carded?

  479. Pat says:

Song has to get booked against Wolves. Sunderland will be a hard fought game so he’s guaranteed a yellow card there. Wolves will put in some dirty tackles too, I’m sure

  480. Stu says:

Yeah Jones got a straight red so should be suspended when they play us.

  481. Pedro says:

Pat, Jurgen Klinsman was asked what he had to do to make Bayern champions, he said in the Prem, they spend an average of 4 seconds on the ball… in Germany 7…

    That is way slower!

  482. Pat says:

Jones is out against us! Thats good. Bent is still a big threat.

Akinfeev is class. Neuer is better though. I’d take either over what we have though

  483. Stu says:

Great save from Akinfeev just there.

  484. WB says:

i think song shoulf have tried to get a yellow against whu, that way he would have missed carling cup match which he anyways was not playing

  485. Ja_Gunner says:

Cska are giving Manure too many chances….

If I were a coach I would never encourage my players to pass back to the goalie….most times the goalie kicks it long and the team lose possesion…

It only invites pressure unto yourself as a team…its better to keep the ball than passing it back to the keeper when you are under 0 pressure.

Anyway CSKA are scaring me right now…

Why dont they try to get up the pitch..why sit so deep and invite Manure?

  486. Pat says:

Pedro, honestly, what does Klinsmann know? Does he have evidence? Loew was behind Germany’s WC 2006 performance, not Klinsmann. He got given too much credit for it.

Cana is a dirty fucker. Get Cesc wrapped up in cotton before that game.

  487. Stu says:

Ginger bastard scholes…all 4 ft of his scores a fucking header!

  488. Pat says:

fuuuuuuck. You know its coming. I can just feel it. I don’t even feel this when Arsenal play.

  489. WB says:

    drogba scored for chelsea

  490. Stu says:

    *4ft of him

  491. Ja_Gunner says:

I hate when teams allow Maure to do this to them…

They were practically asking for Manure to score..

  492. WB says:

inzaghi missed a very simple chance

  493. Pat says:

Drogba ha been involved in over 70% of Chelsea’s goals. Unbelieveable.

  494. Stu says:

These Mancs are jammy bastards! They dont score because of quality. It the opposition allowing them to just attack attack attack until they score. I fucking hate it!

  495. illuminati says:

Goals 4 Chelski and Man u

  496. Pat says:

True Stu. Its just the reputation United have. They never fucking give up unless they’re playing Liverpool. They apply shed loads of pressure.

  497. Stu says:

Evans kicks Carvalho and carcalho gets booked? Bullshit!

  498. Ja_Gunner says:

Yeah Stu..its fukcing annoying isnt it…

Teams just invite Manure late in games dont they….

Thats why I say Manure are still profitting off fear….

    What the fuck?

    4 minutes…for what?

  499. Pat says:

    fuck me 4 minutes!

  500. Stu says:

FUCK RIGHT OFF YOU BUNCH OF JAMMY CUNTS!

  501. Ja_Gunner says:

    Fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  502. Pat says:

    my stream died!!

  503. Pat says:

don’t tell me the cunts scored!

  504. Ja_Gunner says:

CSKA are a bunch of fucking cowards!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After Manure scored the second….why the fuck do you invite more pressure?

  505. Stu says:

A deflection, an offside goal and a shit set piece. Man united really are the luckiest bunch of fuckers alove.

  506. zeus says:

Lmao. I’m following the forum’s commentary, Very entertaining. It seems United also get favors at home when there in Europe not just in the league.

  507. Ja_Gunner says:

Yeah Pat a deflected Valencia shot….the shot was off target…and it hit the defender and went in….

all 10 fucking CSKA players have been in their own half for about 15 minutes…..fucking bunch of cowards…..

    I hate Manure …..

  508. Truth says:

How lucky are Manure? I guess you make your own luck. feel sorry for Akinfeev.

  509. Stu says:

What did Semberas get sent off for? Another shit decision by the ref.

  510. Jay says:

    Chelsea conceeedeee!! 2-2

    damn manccbasstaardsss..

    marseille buried Zurich… 6-1

  511. zeus says:

As I hit send they score an own goal. Barca is the fucking template people. Don’t give these fuckers a sniff. Just shame the fuckers and show them up as the average cunts they are just like Barca did.

Anyway couldn’t care less, all i care about is Arsenal.

  512. Stu says:

96 minutes in and the ref has no intention of blowing the whistle before united have another attack. Cunt!

  513. Ja_Gunner says:

The refs always find a clever way to extend time for Manure….

The allotted time was 4 minutes… 6 minutes the fuckers got……

  514. zeus says:

Insult to injury a red card.

  515. Pat says:

United get so fucking lucky, every single fucking time

  516. Ja_Gunner says:

When will teams fucking learn that you cant just sit back against Manure….they always get those crazy ficking deflections…..

Its better to just stay on the front foot and fuck them up.

  517. Jay says:

wouldve been nice for chelsea and united to go down today…. not let them rest…but results arent very positive..

    i can’t stand united!!

  518. WB says:

chamakh and gourchuff scored for bordeoux, bayern almost out of cl and ribery almost out of bayern

  519. zeus says:

Pool out 2mrw though. I bet my mortgage on it. They are hopeless.

  520. Pat says:

    was it a huge deflection?

  521. Stu says:

HUUUUUGE deflection. Went the opposite side to Akinfeevs dive.

  522. Ja_Gunner says:

Yeah Pat..I believe the shot was off target before it hit the defender..

The fucking defender should have step out to Valencia..instead he stood there and the ball deflected off him.

I can understand defending for 5 mins but…CSKA wanted to defend for 15 fucking minutes

This is what I dont get…a particular gameplan is working ..then you change a full 15 minutes before the end of the game…WTF

Manure were creating very little before CSKA decided to go into their shell.

  523. gooner786 says:

Ja, I need your help please. Many years ago I heard a Reggae song that went a bit like this, “make me down make me down make me down, make me really really really touch the ground, oh oh, oh oh oh”

Do you know the name of the song?

  524. Ja_Gunner says:

That sounds kinda like “girl I wanna make you sweat” but I doubt it

I am not sure about the song..

  525. gooner786 says:

Ja, that song is over 25 years old.

  526. Chitowngooner says:

Anyone else watching real/ Milan. We look twice the team they are. On today’s performance I would take Lass and Pato. That’s all.

  527. Pedro says:

Chitowngooner, sorry for the wait… welcome to Le Grove, you are free to blog!

  528. WB says:

    benzema looked good too

  529. ManGoonian says:

Akinfeev looked anything but quality tonight…. Very average. Would get slated more than Almunia on here, no doubt.

United’s defence was shite, almost as shite as Nani, Owen, et al… Their squad is pretty pants TBH… Only the fact CSKA’s defence was soooo shocking as well…

  530. ManGoonian says:

    Gooner786;

I thought you were takin the piss about that reggae tune fella! Sorry

  531. ManGoonian says:

Haha! Can’t believe the cock suckers on Sky sayin Fletcher didnt exagerate his dive!!! Hilarious! How exactly do your feet jump up to your arse…someone please tell me?

Oh and owen is fucking soooo past it, its only coz he plays for United they are even debating this shite…

  532. Pat says:

Akinfeev can’t catch the ball. Similar to mannone. I’d feel much better with neuer

  533. ManGoonian says:

Hahaa! Ruud Gullit telling it like it is and Hairy palms Keys and that bald scotch cunt dont like it!

  534. Pat says:

    MG, what did Gullit say?

  535. ManGoonian says:

He was saying Owen looks clumsy, past it and scuffs his shots… While Keys and McAllister were goin on about shit hen had done in the past and Ruud pulled em up about that…

  536. Honest Bill says:

Keys is a fucking idiot. How can you present a football show for so many years, yet still not pick up a working knowledge of the game?

  537. LAzer says:

Its funny, thought of something today during the Milan-RM game. Dida is such a big bag of turd pile as a GK, I’d rather council boy Kai in goal with his granny shagging dad as back up then that guy. And to think we slate Almunia so much around here (don’t get me wrong, he boils my blood as much as the next guy with his pussy-footing around the box) I imagine we would’ve been throwing eggs at Dida by now.

  538. YON says:

GUYS!!! What is our formation for tomorrow. I really don’t see the point of going full blown attack and risking any of our crucial players. In fact.. I might rest certain players where rotation is possible. I don’t think Gallas should be risked because he has played almost every senior game and the man is 32ish. I would give Senderos a run out. I would definately start Eboue and maybe give Ramsey a chance at some point. I would start Ramsey ahead of Diaby and maybe start Nasri ahead of Cesc. Maybe start Eduardo ahead of RVP and take Arshavin off and bring on Rosicky towards the middle. I don’t see the point of starting all our star players and risking injuries in a game we could easily see out with other players. I was very confident with our squad just a week ago but considering how Bendtner and Walcott are out… this is getting a bit scary. They are very important impact players that can decide an even contest. I’m also hoping for the quick recovery of Denilson. We miss his energy and hopefully he will be fit before Chelsea… as will Walcott.

re the earlier story about shreks babys name KAI here in thailand means BOLLOCKS just about sums up the mentality of his father

  541. ethangunner says:

oh your on that island .. Koh samui :)
greetings from the main land fellow thai gooner .

  542. ethangunner says:

    lazer

alumina will always cop flack because the cunt isnt good enough .. he has purple patches of reliability , but long term we are either looking to fab2 or externally to fill the spot long term . And until that day expect the Big Al banter to continue .

  543. mimi says:

Lazer Dida did save them a couple of times before the end when he made good saves!

  544. LAzer says:

Yeah I am with you there Ethan. Trust me he is in my dog house just as much as anyone elses. I was just pointing out what a shitbag waste of space Dida is that’s all. I wish we would add an experianced GK like even Niemi or someone. Someone who makes a partnership with our CBs and is commanding in the box. Jan would be ideal to add a GK and relegate big Al to the bench. Fab2 has too many injury problems right now, till he figures it out we need someone not to lose us games, in fact to win us some.

  545. LAzer says:

Dida is a cunt that costs them goals all the time. My eight year old parapelegic niece could catch a ball better then that waste of space GK. He is an adequate shot stopper at best, no more no less.

  546. iceman says:

    Where’s everyone at?
    4-1 tonight anyone? ;)

  547. Geoff says:

Yes Iceman but I won’t put that in the post!

  550. Geoff says:

Be safe Geoff, don’t spill your coffee ;) ;)

    You enjoy the match too

  552. iceman says:

    Later Geoff.
    Have a good one!

    Let’s smash the Dutch tonight.
    Apparently Wenger’s never beaten Koeman.
    Time for that to change!!

  553. rico says:

iceman – you are darn right, that has to change. AW was fuming after the last game when we let that sloppy goal in, I think he will have their heads straight for this game and a win will come our way

  554. iceman says:

    Agree rico
RvP to bag another brace? ;)

  555. rico says:

Arshavin to star tonight – he is due a good game and a goal or two, but yes, RvP is sure to find the net, he is on fire :P

  556. iceman says:

    So RvP-2, Arhsavin and Nasri.
And ofcourse we have to concede the customary goal.

  557. rico says:

    :P :P iceman

  558. finestcuts says:
