Do we play our first team for revenge or our academy for humiliation? And time called on Marmite players.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Robin Van Persie, fast turning into that player we all hoped he would, has asked the boss if he can play against Man Shitty in the quarter final of the Carling cup, Le Grove says yes please.

The Carling Cup, often referred to as the worthless cup is no longer second rate, how can it be? All the teams left in it are now EPL clubs, so the only difference between that and the FA Cup is the name. All the clubs left will be trying to win it, and will no doubt be playing with their first choice 11′s, I hope we do the same, to beat the northern chavs will go a long way to showing them who the daddy really is, so please Arsene, give us your best team.

Giving the woeful spuds a good pasting also established what a complete jerk Redknapp really is, to say they were as good as us, and that all our goals were useless is like saying Megan Fox has big ears and your wife’s sister is better looking. She may be better looking than your wife, but she’s not better than Megan Fox, so Harry, get real!

The Cesc Fabregas goal was so good I think it will win goal of the season, commiting suicide if we won 1 nil would be funny, but 3 nil, you’re having a laugh!

Onto a subject that will never be agreed on here on Le grove, our Marmite players. Song, Diaby, Eboue and Denilson are players that you either rate, or you don’t, there is no middle ground with us Grovers, the thing is, Arsene Wenger will continue to play them, and no amount of us debating their worth will ever change that, I suggest we leave it at that, we spend more time debating their worth than we do talking about the Arsenal, and it makes no difference, he will play them, so I suggest we stop arguing amongst ourselves and move on.

We should spend the rest of the season talking up our team and having a good debate at the end, or at least until the window opens and then see if Wenger gets his cheque book out in those areas.

I know I am the world’s worst on this subject so I am suggesting we call time on it, let’s all laugh at the shit team in the Hertfordshire slums instead.

We play AK Alkmaar on Wednesday and a win will see us into the knock out stages, if we then beat one other in our group, I think we should finish top of the pile, then we can experiment, I know other results also come in to the equation, but I don’t think I’m far away with that assumption.

I also believe he will want to finish the year still competing in all the competitions, and we won’t do that if we don’t bring out the big guns at the Eastlands.

Beating the southern chavs in a few weeks will close the gap even further, and Saturday showed we have added patience, defending and how to close a game out in one go, well done the lads, more of the same this week please.

Have a good’un today Grovers, and send all those happy texts to all those silly spuds that think they have a stronger bench than us, ha, ha, ha!

RvP hit the bar about 6 times. But i do think we need a traditional freekick taker some one who curls it around the wall and not over it. We’re generally good at indirect freekicks.

  2. rico

    Evening peoples ;)

Barca have all but snapped up one of our kids, I guess they are trying pay back time for Cesc and Merida

  3. rico

Oops, I sent my last to early – I reckon the lad (Afobe)would be daft, he won’t get on there, he is better staying put. I guess if he is ‘that good’ we will sort out what he wants so he stays

  4. rico

Mayank – in the 13 years, AW has grabbed 1000 points, Spuds were second top in the list of clubs we have taken points from. Top was Everton …

  5. Mayank

    Rico,
It’s a great video, it’s moving to see him talk about the CL final he seems so disappointed and hurt even today. I read the article, apparently we’ve nicked more points from Utd than Pool, which is surprising.

  6. rico

Mayank – We should have won that final – the bitter pill though is Jens and Eboue… Both needless and stupid imho. I bet he hurts big time, I think most of us still do too :(

  7. LAzer

On the topic of Megan Fox, she has the grossest fucked up buck thumbs ever! If I were on a date with her and she took her gloves of accidently I’d puke on her lasagna.

  8. Mayank

A little ingenuity from the ref could have saved what would’ve been a great final.
We always had a goal in us so i think we’d make it 1-1 if the ref gave the goal and not the card. If we lost after that then fair enough.

  9. rico

I think Manure play attacking football and are open, when we play them the games can go any way as we both like to press forward.

The Scousers have been boring over the years and played defensive with a hoof over the top. Oh and they are jammy gits who either cheat or get a dodgy last gasp goal – I hate them…

    Come on Lyon :)

  10. Mayank

Was also sad seeing Pires walk off the field. That has to be the worst moment of my fandom. Fuck why’d i bring up the game.

  11. Mayank

I stand by most of Wenger decisions but the way he handled Pires was shocking. You can see how much he loves the club. Henry and Vieira wanted to leave, he was pushed out.

  12. LAzer

Wait till u see this fellas…I’d prep a doggie bag in case you have to go on the side of the computer….evidence coming soon. Be ready for a puke fest.

  13. LAzer

Its friggn gross. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it. You’d be having shag with her and and bam all of a sudden there would be a couple of buck thumbs in your bed ruining your night.

  14. LAzer

lol…nah Stu. So you have seen it as well then. The fellas had to be made aware sooner or later, doesn’t matter whodunit.

  15. Stu

Evening Rico, honestly Eboue can go for all i care. He is a decent attacking right back but doesnt play there often so we wouldnt be losing much.

As for the forward i cant really comment because i’ve never heard of him but he is a bit old (to be a youth) and too young to start. Pointless signing that would be imo.

  16. LAzer

I told you Mayank…it is a real ball buster that! No such thing as perfection, certainly not for Miss fugly thumbs Fox.

  17. Stu

Apparently she is a stuck up, self obsessed, freaky thumb wielding(sp) bitch aswell.

I wouldnt be buying her fingerless gloves…thats for sure.

  18. Stu

Pires was only taken off because of his age. I honestly cant think of any other reason.

Its ageism i tells ya! Wenger should be ashamed.

  19. LAzer

Ya so the hotness of Fox myth has been busted on legrove. Moving on to what’s a lot more important…I am still have wet dreams from the shallacking we put on the sorry spuds.

I still think we need a DM, Matuidi would be nice, and then we are a complete team. See what JD and Nordveit bring to the CB table next term otherwise strength there next summer.

Real shame about Bendtner, but I must admit a year or two ago I would not have really been bothered. I like him as a player, he is fast becoming a very complete sort of footballer but still lacking the fox in the box aspect. Ultimately though THAT is what a striker is judged on and he knows as well as us that until he starts taking his chances he will not be guaranteed first team football. I hope he comes back soon, but I honestly don’t expect to see him till Christmas.

  20. rico

I know today is about supporting who we have, but Nik has never been a fav of mine and would not make my starting eleven ;)

I hope his absence gives Vela a chance :P

  21. Stu

We dont really have anyone who owns that right side spot. Arshavin will always start left and VP in the middle. Theo is always injured, Bendtner doesnt suit the right, neither does Eduardo or Vela.

Unless we move Arsh to the right and actually have a leftie on the left….

  22. A

    Reserve Team -

    Szczesny

    Gilbert Bartley Miquel Evina

    Eastmond Coquelin Frimpong

    Randall Watt Sunu

Subs – Yannaris, Henderson, Deacon, Freeman, Murphy

  23. Ray in SF

On ‘physioroom.com’ it has R Ferdinand with a mysterious chest infection and no prediction for return date.

  24. LAzer

Ya the right spot is vacant untill Rosicky, Walcott, Bendtner are out and we have a glut of games coming. I will want to hang myself from my balls if Ebowie all of a sudden becomes a regular there.

Lets see how Arsene addresses this one. Jack won’t get a game there, maybe in the CL when the qualification is secure. What do you reckon A? Your team selection praedo’s are usually pretty good…

    Mayank… Katie Melua?

About as sexual as a bag of cotton wool… and she dated the prat from the kooks… so poor taste as well…

  27. Mayank

This from the man who wants to suck Satan’s thumb. Also i can’t help it if all good singer’s are ugly, she’s probably the best of the lot.

  28. Pedro

    Satan… how bloody dare you!

What about Florence, from Florence and the Machine… she’s got something about her…

  29. timao

good article – in fact i disagree about aw playing all those players regardless. he was going absolutely mental at diaby and song in the 2nd half, for ages. song seemed to respond but diaby didn’t. his confidence looked shot at times, as well it might. i would not be surprised if he is given a few games in the reserves. diaby is a good player but he can and needs to do a lot better than he showed on saturday.

  30. patthegooner

You should show that Injuries table to all the moaning spuds that have been phoning Radio Stations saying the reason they lost on Saturday was down to injuries!!!!!

    Fucking Deluded Cunts.

  31. Mayank

What was interesting about the table was that the top teams were near the top there as well.
Puts weight to the theory that the more athletic and technical players get injured more.

  32. patthegooner

And I bet Barcelona are not too happy with Cesc’s form at the moment. If they want him anytime soon, they will have to pull out £50m+ for his services.

£50m and one penny if they want Diaby thrown in as well….

  33. LAzer

And I think some of us made that point on here for ages last term. No squad in the PL could have survived the amount of injuries we had last year to first team members but it helped in the long run in that the kids HAD to grow up in a hurry.

Look at Livershit and Spuds now, they are fucked for now with the injuries but eventhough we have so many we are still finding a way. The squad is strong now..and although it has taken a few years to develop the depth on the strictest of budgets its no pain no gain I suppose.

  34. Pat

United haven’t dropped a single point against a bottom-half team since the opening weekend of last season when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

I found this, but didn’t they get beat by Burnley?

  35. Pedro

Pat, I think there was a certain section of the fanbase who thought we’d miss Denilson… haha.

    Hardly noticed, have we?

  36. LAzer

suga u sneaky cunt!! watching ressies and not telling anyone about it either huh! I see how it is…am logging on to ATVO right now…..

  37. Pat

    * Stoke were credited with a pathetic 55% pass completion rate on Saturday v Wolves.

    * They have scored just twice beyond the hour mark in games.

    * Bottom club Pompey have conceded fewer goals than Liverpool this season.

    * Tottenham have reaped just seven points from a possible 21 since the injury to Luka Modric.

    * Wolves would be bottom of the table if all games ended after 45 minutes.

    * Middlesbrough and West Brom both had more points than this Wolves side at the same stage last season.

  38. LAzer

Ya we’ll see Deacon soon if it stays 1-0. Interesting seeing Frimpong up there, always thought he was center mid only.

  39. Alex

any streams? Can someone tell me where everyone is playing? and why the fuck does Rhys Murphy never get a chance to start??

  40. LAzer

no chance of a stream for ressies Alex, at least none that I know. ATVO only I think. Rhys is still behind reserve level I think.

    To me it looks like

    Sczesy

    Gilbert – Bartley – Miguel – Evina

    Randall – Eastmond – Coquelin

    Frimpong – Watt – Sunu

  41. LAzer

Typical crap bus parking game plan by Pompey. Nick one in off a set piece and sit back for 88 mins. Lets see if the lads have the quality to break this borefest down.

  42. gnarleygeorge9

Wheres that mayank geezer  Off having a good dose of sour grapes I spose. Ha Ha Ha Ha!! I’m not sure where you are from old boy, probably the moon with you ignorance, but yes there is no doubt where I’m from, the land of the winners. Even our 3rd team know how to win.

  43. Big Raddy

    GG.

Check out the Formula One. Webber is an Aussie isn’t he? Could be the first Aussie Champ since Alan Jones. In the meantime….. where does the World Champ come from? ;-)

  44. treze13

you lot that were talking about famous women… two words: Hayley Williams, great singer, best band out right now and super cute :D

  45. LAzer

Paramore! Ya she’s alright, not everyones cup of tea though I think. She’s cute but more cause she’s a singer not vice versa.

  46. LAzer

This is what used to happen to us a couple seasons ago and for a while in Jan-Feb when their was bus parking going on by teams. Good lesson for the kids this. Lets see them break the deadlock.

  47. LAzer

Deacon should have been on for Randall and Frimpong into Center mid, just like you suggested earlier Suga. Eastmond probably needed a rest anyways.

  48. treze13

yeah saw them a few years back they were great, new album is awesome hoping they can match it this time too :)

rare to see someone with similar music taste on here though lol

  49. treze13

LOL yeah whoever they are i agree :)

    Paramore
    Muse
    Taking Back Sunday
    Escape the Fate
    Nirvana

top five bands that do NOT get enough love (k maybe nirvana do but still)

    My Team for AZ Alkmar

    …………………Al……………………

    Eboue………Gallas………Vermy………..Clichy

    ………………….Song…………………….

    …Cesc……………………………Nasri……

    .Arshy……………..RVP………………Eddy….

    Team for Wolves

    …………………….Al……………………..

    Sagna………..Senderos……….Vermy……..Clichy

    ……………………Song……………………

    ..Cesc………………………………Diaby……

    ..Arshy………………RVP……………..Vela….

I am hoping Vela will be fit for the Wolves game…
If Rosicky is back as well, he can replace Arshavin at the 70 min mark or so….

If we are comfortable Nasri can come on for Cesc at 70 as well to give him some rest.

Also I would give Gallas a rest because he will be involved in 2 legged playoff so he will not get any rest in the international break…..

  51. ReVELAtion

Gooner faithful back and bouncing.. Happy days…

Robbie Keane was shown up for the mug he is in retrospect, but make no mistake tottenham still have a pretty decent squad and the top 6 is not beyond them IMO.. Top 4 though is pushing it, but with liverpool currently in a mini crisis (major if they leave lyon with a defeat) that 4th spot is up for grabs..

I can see it being a 3 way battle for the title and a 4/5 way battle for the 4th spot and the europa cup places..

David in regards to bendtner you know I disagree but your assessment of Van Persie against teams with better defenses is spot on.. David Villa in the summer after the world cup is not a pipe dream for me.. Alot of players want to play for us in all honesty. The only thing that halts us is the transfer fees, but we’re due a nice suprise surely..

Good post Sir Geoff and on that note about getting behind the team I will put this eloquently without calling the player a cnut.. Diaby has had his chance and he started off very well in that pompey game.. But, ever since that though his form has been erratic and that has only papered over the cracks based on our recent good run of form… A returning Nasri is such a bonus right now..

As for bendtner’s injury it is a problem that could become a major one.. Bendtner does alot of shift work tracking back and working hard for the team where as Arshavin and Van Persie to very little.. You need to defend from the front to make the 4-3-3 work well.. Vela, Eduardo & Theo are not the answers regardless of the clamour for Vela to start more games.. Expect to see more of Eboue’s maurauding runs followed by stupid decisions around the 18 yard box. There is also the lack of physical presence that is an issue.

    A team of:

    Al

    Bak Verm Bill Gael

    Song
    Nasri Cesc

    Rock VP Arsh

will win you most games, but against chelsea and on one off occassions v. stoke etc. we’ll be allowing ourselves the opportunity to be physically dominated..

  52. A

Reva where did you hear that? Saw physioroom said 7th for Rosicky and Vela, and 21st for Theo and Fabianski, 29th Bendy and Denilson, not sure how reliable that is though?

  53. ReVELAtion

As For Megan Fox, I don’t see what the fuss is all about.. She just looks like any other page 3 bird, but with tattoos…

Diedre Lovejoy, Carla Guigino, Lucy Liu, Salma Hayek, Monica Belluci = Classy women and classic beauties..

  54. A

Ja I’d go with that team for tomorrow, then Diaby back in for the weekend. Though certainly not break up the centre backs, neither Gallas nor Vermy will be rested unless injured or it’s the league cup!

  55. ReVELAtion

    Team on wed will be:

    Al

    Bak Verm Bill Gibbs

    Song

    Cesc Nasri

    Ebowie VP Eddy

Bench: Fab, Clichy, Senderos, Ramsey, Diaby, Merida, Arshavin.
