2 pints of lager please mate, that’ll be £8 sir! What, are you having a tinny?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So there I was, watching fantastic football being played and a stonking revenge pasting handed out to Birmingham City, enough to make me want a celebratory pint, so I did, after watching thousands do the usual streaming out of the ground early I went to the bar, queued up and got told £8 for two pints.

I THOUGHT THEY WERE HAVING A TIN BATH, BUT THEY WEREN’T!

After asking myself why more fans don’t hang around like I do and drink copious amount of adult beverages, I got my answer! I had a couple of beers at the Champagne bar at St. Pancras the other day and it wasn’t that expensive, in fact I don’t think I’ve ever paid £8 for two pints, so there you have the answer Arsenal, that’s why people don’t hang around.

Former Arsenal pin up John Hartson said yesterday that Celtic winger Aiden McGeady could walk straight into the Arsenal team and replace Andre Arshavin, what??? John mate, are you having a laugh? Ronaldo couldn’t replace Andre Arshavin.

Theo it seems is out for 3 weeks thanks to another outrageous tackle from a Brummie, and that is bad news for our young superstar, he doesn’t get much luck does he?

I thought the whole team performed well and they should be bristling with confidence for the European game away this Tuesday, I won’t be going but I will be watching on TV and supping beer that costs somewhere closer to £2 a pint.

The boss revealed he turned down the Madrid job, because he promised his team he would see the project through, I hope they were reading, because I think we have as much of a chance as anyone this year, the Chavs and the scousers lost again and the northern chavs proved you need more than money to succeeed at the top, at least they are beginning to see why we slung Ade the whore out, how funny was he on Sunday!

I won’t mention what the brum scum were singing, suffice to say had it been our fans, it would have been headline news, sicko wankers.

How good is it that we only have to wait one more day to see us playing again eh, I can’t wait.

Have a great day Grovers, I’m getting that feeling again, and I haven’t had that since 2004!

If your talking about Diaby that’s an unfair comment, he finished his chance well, others may of missed, how can you critisize a player for scoring?

    ————————-

Theo missed it. Thank God Diaby was there. Thank God Bentdner wasnt.

  2. Stu

And Flamini was actually a Dm when you realise he was in midfield to defend. He was able to play further forward and at full back. He was a quality utility player but his best position was dm.

  3. David

    Stu

Thats opinion. You dont know that for sure.

Senderos was Impressive as a DM. Hard Tackling and Great Positioning. Alright the pace isnt there. But he’s miles better than Denilson and Diaby.

  4. Pedro

He is no slower than Song… I’d go as far as saying I’m certain he’s faster!

Song’s doing ok… he’s no world beater, but he’s doing alright.

I thought he had a stormer against Birmingham.

  5. SharkeySure

    You’re Stateside aint ya David..??

On my trips there I;ve generally been amazed at how hard most people work, 2-3 jobs, very little holidays, nil or low medical cover. Wot a struggle.

But to dismiss people who were homeowners as lazy is crazy. If they were that lazy they wouldn’t be working would they.

Even the greediest brokers/lenders around weren’t multiplying zero salaries and coming up with a mortgage offer were they ??

  6. Stu

Opinion that he has no acceleration…its almost fact.
Not sure who he played there against but wasnt it like the first game in austria against an amature side. Not the best opposition to guage his defensive midfield attributes on.

  7. Mr B

Interst is a bitch innit. The sweat and blood of the poor. Banks are just white collares loan sharks in the end.

I read an article that said that it is impossible to pay back interest. It gave the example that if theres 100 quid in an economy and its deposited with a bank. the bank lends it out and ask for a 105 quid. theres only 100 quid where are you going to get the 5% from. And I mean real GDP and not money supply.

the article is called the world plus 5%
    heres a link http://www.relfe.com/plus_5_.html

  8. Pedro

Sharkey, that’s what I was saying earlier… linking income to how hard you work isn’t possible.

Some do fuck all and earn loads, some work loads and get the minimum… either because of upbringing or career choice.

I’d be more inclined to blame the people who marketed the mortgages and the people selling them… there is a responsibility on both sides to make the right decision.

Knocking on the doors of the poorest people and selling them the American dream was never going to have a happy ending.

Well… I assume it had a happy ending for people creaming the profits.

  9. David

    SS

lol….2-3 jobs work up to 80 hrs a week. With a half hour break in between jobs.

And may the Good Lord help you if you are a single parent with absolutely no time for yourself or your kids.

Im not sure about my Math Sharkey. But im sure if you multiply any number by Zero…it isnt going to get you approved for a house.

  11. gambon

    MrB,

Thats the biggest issue with banking on a large scale.

Every penny in circulation in western economies is debt owed to private banks. The system guarantees defaults & bankrupcy, aswell as perpetual price inflation. Its literally the biggest scam ever pulled.

  12. David

    Yea Stu

It was a side when we won 9-1 or something like that and i think he played another game the same way after that and was very impressive. So your saying its one game?

Almunia dropped an absolute Clanger and passed the ball to the striker to score to make for their only goal.

But hey….one shite team in Austria is hardly the best judge to show how World Class Almunia is.

    I get your point.

  13. Mr B

Gambon I could’nt agree more. The Federal Reserve in the Us is not a Government Institution, Its aprivate bank and it runs everything in terms of the economy and the Govt. cannt do shit. They too are Debt Slaves……

  14. luke

We should buy Julio fucking Cesar and a backup CDM in January. We have the money for Christ sake, oh but it will “kill” our young keepers…great…thats why we havnt won a trophy in years.

  15. Stu

Eboue will start right wing. Its so annoyingly obvious.

Luke, Cesar would cost us about 20m. Mourinho wouldnt want to sell and especially not to us.

  16. Stu

Cesar is arguably the best atm. Top 3 at least. But 20m is a fuck load of money for a keeper. Wenger wont even soend that on an outfielder so no chance if it happening for a keeper.

  17. luke

    Cesar
    Sagna-Gallas-Verminator!-Clichy
    Cesc-Song-Nasri
    Walcott-RVP-Arshavin

    Subs-Mannone,Eboue,gibbs,Eduardo,Diaby,Rosicky, Matuidi,

    Look good eh?

  18. A

ah ok stu, i thought from the way you said destined to be you meant you didn’t really rate him.

luke if we’re talking about unrealistic keeper purchases i’d rather casillas than cesar

  19. Stu

There are plenty of great goalkeepers out there. All playing regularly for their clubs..its only us that dont play the potentially world class one (fabianski).

  20. A

we’re actually gonna have a pretty strong reserve team out tomorrow, something like

    fabianski

    gilbert bartley senderos traore

    eastmond coquelin

    randall barazite sunu

    watt

  21. A

said that then managed to leave out nasri, how dumb….

swap nasri for one of the three attacking mids and he’ll be central

  22. SharkeySure

David 20.24, your maths are fine I was just saying that evben th edodgiest mortgage broker can;t sign up up th eunempliotyed for mortgages, some of ‘em would try though!!

  23. SharkeySure

    Ped 20.21.

Top post, I agree with every word.

Not sure if your cousin really believes a lot of the stuff he writes, or if he just needs to widen his social circle or maybe go on ‘The Secret Millionaire’.

Yours and Rhyles views on the Beeb, echo my own, and by the sounds of it your views on ‘social inequality’ might also be close to mine.

  24. SharkeySure

On the banking thing it used to be the case that Japanese and German banking systems were both there to assist in economic growth, and were known to take the longer term view over short term profits.

I’m not sure that approach survived the big bang and the subsequent creation of new debt markets and products though…

Who am I kidding….its deffo all changed..for the worse.

Very few banks create ‘real wealth’ these days….even for themselves!!

  25. LAzer

Why is Rosicky not traveling for the Alkmar game?? Watch this be a layoff for him…

Walcott and Bendtner are out as well…how about Clichy? Glad to see Nasri back in the fold, I can’t wait to see him in our 4-3-3 later on.

  26. Ja_Gunner

I would not mind seeing this team….

    ……………………Almunia………………..

    Sagna…….Gallas………Vermy…………..Gibbs

    …………………Song……………………….

    …….Cesc………………………Diaby……….

    …Eboue……………RVP……………Vela……..

Bench: Manone, Sylvest, Ramsey, Wilshere, Merida, Arshy, clichy

If we are comfortable 2-0 or so up, I would like Ramsey, Merida and Wilshere to get some pitch time….

  27. LAzer

Well Bwall I am no banker or financier or fundamentalist but have done a bit of reading on the principles of Islamic banking which functions without a floating interest rate and outlaws usury. I am not concerned by the religious tag or aspects of it, only as a viable model for steady long term growth without the huge pitfalls of the current system. Here is a small excerpt from wiki on how a simple home purchase would take place..

“In an Islamic mortgage transaction, instead of loaning the buyer money to purchase the item, a bank might buy the item itself from the seller, and re-sell it to the buyer at a profit, while allowing the buyer to pay the bank in installments. However, the fact that it is profit cannot be made explicit and therefore there are no additional penalties for late payment. In order to protect itself against default, the bank asks for strict collateral. The goods or land is registered to the name of the buyer from the start of the transaction.”

As you see it is more of a profit sharing sort of setup where the buyer and the bank both share in the upside and the Bank is protected from the downside with strict collateral. Perhaps the single largest weakness is that it does not allow those who cannot put something for collateral to the bank to purchase a home but that is probably much superior to allowing those with no job or credit to purchase a home in the first place.

  28. David

    Ja

Id love to see Merida, Wilshere and Ramsey start even tho i know it wont happn.

I think it will do a lot for their development and psyche to get the start in a CL match.

  29. Stu

Suprisingly i wouldnt start any of them.

Simply because i hear AZ have a whole team of 6 footers and we would get physically dominated if we started so many small, inexperienced and young players.

Regular back 6 (keeper doesnt really matter), Cesc and Diaby in midfield and a front 3 if VP, Arshavin and Vela.

  30. David

I think thats too strong a team for AZ who have both their previous matches.

I dont think height matters for much in midfield.

  31. A

let’s win this game then the next then we can let the kids play the last two games once we have 1st place confirmed. I’d go with you on the team stu, maybe eboue in depending on how tired arshavin is

  32. LAzer

You sure A and Choy?? I read somewhere he might have a slight knee strain…last time we heard that it was 18 months.

  33. A

lazer it was a thigh or muscle injury before. I’m sure he’s got a slight knock, from a little kick, but i’d be surprised if he isn’t back for west ham

  34. choy

Lazer, I’m pretty sure he is just being rested.

Yep play the strongest team and wrap up top spot as soon as possible.

  35. LAzer

fingers crossed A. Rosicky is a special case, any time I hear anything injury related I automatically fear the worst now. Am gutted Walcott got crocked again, those northern monkey half-wits always do some sort of damage.

It’s a bleedin shame, he is so ready to take the next step in his Henry-esque development and the right of the 4-3-3 in this team would be ideal for Theo to exploit. Instead we’re gonna have to suffer toothless Bendtner for a month or two longer now.

  36. tomstoned

    Evenin All..

David mate ..Senderos is gone…he will never play another important game for Our Beloved Arsenal…and i must say Thank God…he’s a truly crappy player…great guy..but not ever going to be good enough..Wenger has seen that a long time ago..

dont really know what the fuzz about the fecker flamini is…one season..one…rest of his football career has been shit…explanation..it was Arsenal as a time that helped flamoney..not the other way around..

Song is world class..and will continue to improve…Denilson is gettin there too…Diaby..he is a great player who at the time is not consistent..but then again to expected…he have suffered to many injuries and are just starting to get back…

    tom

  37. Ja_Gunner

This is my team..I say give Vela a run out…..

Keep Arshavin in reserve just in case….no game is a walk over but come on….its not like we are playing Chelsea or something

    ……………………Almunia………………..

    Sagna…….Gallas………Vermy…………..Gibbs

    …………………Song……………………….

    …….Cesc………………………Diaby……….

    …Eboue……………RVP……………Vela…….

  38. tomstoned

and Choy youre right….lets secure the top spot in CL group H…

that will be very important for Our season…and many of Our youngsters like Wilshere,Ramsey and Merida..will get important experience….

    tom

  39. LAzer

Song…world class?? Come on Tom, take off those rose tints please. I like him, he seems to be a hard working vastly improved player but to put him and world class in one sentance is a travesty right now imo.

  40. LAzer

They are 6th right now at home, but I think were champions of Holland last term. Also they drew to liege and lost to olympiokos so will be desperate for a result at home if they are looking to qualify. I have heard they play the typical Dutch way so it should be a flowing game of football, the kind where we can hit 6 past the goal posts at times. :-)

  41. tomstoned

    LAzer…

come on..even the people who for a long time have said that Song isnt top notch are starting to see him for what he is, an amazing talent…and in my eyes world class with the potential to be the Best…everyone thinks essien is great..well Song is far better and younger…and more than that a true Pro..grids down..never a hard word..just keeps working and improving..

AZ last season was thought of as the new Ajax of the early seventies Choy…playin much as the Holland National team does…quite a good team and great to watch…not the best start this season however..i think we will have a great game tomorrow..

    tom

  42. A

Saw their game from sat choy and they were shocking. Stuck 11 men behind the ball and just didn’t have any intention of going forward whatsoever! They lost 3-2 though so still high scoring game despite their lack of ambition!

  43. Stu

Tom, Song better than Essien? You’ve gone too far now. Praise our players all yu want but Essien is one of the best CMs around. Song is not..ergo Song isnt better than Essien.

  44. goonermichael

    BBK
I know how you feel about Arsenal
How would you feel now if you were a manu fan. Based on thier position and performances so far?

    please humour me lol

  45. goonermichael

    Why BBK?
If we win our game in hand we are one point behind
Both our losses were away to main rivals
They have dropped points to Burnley and Sunderland
They have conceded a lot more goals at home than us
They have got 7 points from own goals
They are looking almost shambolic in defence at times

You are worried about our defensive frailties but they are riding thier luck.

I think if you were a manc you would actually kill yourself.

  46. B.B.K.

don’t be stupid g.m if i were a man u fan i would be more then happy with what they have achieved these past 3 years,it’s a shame we can’t boast about the same sort of record

  47. Stu

Chelsea are in a worse situation than many. A squad full of aged and ageing players and unable to strengthen for 2 transfer windows to make things better. And they have lost 2 of their last 3 games without putting up much of a fight.

Meanwhile we have comfortably beat most of the teams we have played, are record scorers and have been entertained no end with great football.

I would have to be a liverpool fan this season..

  48. goonermichael

I can’t see how you can pick so many holes in us and say you’d have no complaints about the mancs. If the mancs don’t step up they are heading for a big fall. If they do then fair enough but an injury to Rooney and they are in the shit.

  49. Baxter Wall

I don’t mean this to sound as nasty as it does bbk but sometimes I honestly think you are completely hatstand!

  50. Stu

BBk, didnt you complain about how we won the other day? Said it was pathetic. How about uniteds pathetic late own goals, deflections, offsides…thats far more pathetic. Winning by luck and not skill.

  51. B.B.K.

listen stu,man united are entitled to have an off season, after the results they have produced these past 3 years.People on here that think we ae on par with them need to think again they are shite this season by there own standards but still beat our supposed superior side

  52. Stu

Well we did outplay them and were missing a lot of key players. A midfield with Eboue, Denilson, Diaby and Song and we only just lost.

They didnt beat us because of skill or being the better football team. They won because of a dubious penalty, an own goal and other than those attempts they did fuck all in the match.

They arent a better football team than us but are bred to win and thats why they have been successful imo. And now that Ronaldo is gone they really only have Rooney as a world class player.

  53. A

bbk the league table doesn’t tell the whole story. we’ve dropped the same number of points as them, but we’re in a much stronger position. We’ve won every game you’d expect us to win, utd have lost two games you’d expect them to win. We’ve lost two games that you wouldn’t expect us to win, utd havn’t played a game that you wouldn’t expect them to win

  54. Jonathan

    @Lazer,
Is Bendtner that “toothless”? I personally see some growth and development in our squad here (improvement from all our players).

  55. Emperor Gooner

btw let’s somehow get through this match cuz this is probably the last one where eboue and diaby start together..the day i dont see either of their names in the starting 11 , i will have a chance of experiencing total bliss

  56. ikon

United have been lucky this season and the last season when they won the championship. They enforce their own luck, there is no denying that. But to say we arent on a good run after 8 games is plain stupid coz we actually are. We look like scoring every time we move forward, how many times did I feel the same last season I am not sure, maybe not even once. Last season our attack looked like breaking down every time we try to move forward.

Rosicky has been in exemplary form this season, and is a part reason for our improvement. We do not lose the ball often now in the mid. And if we carry on with this form for the next 3-4 games in the league, we will be in a very very good spot.

An ffs BBK agree with you that bottomline is winning, you should remember that united won the league last year even after being the worst of the top four in terms of games against the other three. So I dontunderstand why should there be such a fuss about us losing to united. If a loss to the big three spurs our team to win rest of the games, I would not mind losing. Bottomline is winning the league aint it?

  57. ikon

And Senderos a crappy player??? He was the one who was a rock in our defense in the road to CL finals. I think most people would change their minds if he came out chewing his gum even harder after every mistake he makes, much like Rio Ferdinand. He is a world class defender and his reading of the game is perfect. Just that he needs to be a bit ruthless at times. I am sure he will return to his playing days for the club once he shows that he is over his mistake making spree in the carling cups.

On a different topic, how good is Manone.. I feel we have got ourselves an excellent keeper here.

  58. Emperor Gooner

mannone needs to learn when to catch and when to punch…and you cant say that apart from that , he’s good because that is as important as shot stopping…i said after the fulham game that he punched the ball in situations where he could’ve catched and though we did not pay the price there we could have easily in some other game..that is what exactly happened ag birmingham …almunia or fab still the 1st choice for me

  59. ikon

Yeah but that is something he will learn very quickly playing games. He has got the basics right and much better at commanding the area than either Almunia or Fabianski.

Fab is a bit too small for the goal keeping positions, and hence plays like an outfield player coming out for everything. In a one v one situation, his legs wont be able to spread enough to cover any sort of angle.

Almunia’s best days are gone. He was kept on his toes by Jens who anyday is a better keeper than him. rankwise, i think Scezsney > Manone > Fabianski > Almunia.

Sorry but its the exact reverse order of how it should be in the hierarchy.

  60. Geoff

I like Mannone, I really do, but should we not have a Buffon type, we are supposed to be world class after all?

Think of the goals we may have not let in had we even had Given last season.

  61. testo111

    learn very quickly playing games???

so you’d be fine about us dropping a few more points just for the sake of mannones “learning”…nah we cant afford that anyomre..besides i can easily see mannone getting nervous in big games
