Stan, are you Glazier in disguise? Merida in his last year and uncle Festa orders a trophy.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Okay so a lot of kerfuffle this morning Grovers. It appears that our quiet American has been buying shares from Danny boy and Carr but forgot to pay for them, which is the old American way of doing business, buying companies with other peoples money, naughty.

This is what the Times said…

‘The one positive thing about Arsenal was they were always British owned and not in the hands of an American who finances everything through debt unlike a couple of clubs we can name, that utopia may well be about to end in the near future’

Now I can’t think why Fizman and his mates would sell their shares to someone who won’t pay for them straight off, Carr’s owed money that goes back 10 months, I thought Kroenke was a billionaire?

Here Danny, I’ll have them on those terms, especially if he gets a large salary as well, are you mugs?

Nina, I’ll buy yours as well, I could take Arsenal football club over without paying for a single share, eat your heart out Usminov, you’re doing it the wrong way!

I sure hope all these stories are untrue, this is very reminiscent of what the Glaziers did at ManU, took a profitable well run club, and plunged it into debt, no thanks USA.

Other news is Fran Merida is flattered that Athletico are after him and his contract with Arsenal is going to run out next season. If it’s true then get shot of him, he has apparently said he turned down a 5 year contract with us too. I like Fran a lot, but if he thinks Athletico is a better bet than Arsenal, sell him in January and put your efforts into one of the young English kids, if of course these rumours are true.

Ivan has told Arsene that he needs to deliver a trophy this year and the fans are more important than the revenue, this is what the Mail said he said.

‘This club exists for the fans and they don’t care about financial reports, they care about what happens on the pitch’

If true, then he is to be applauded, but somehow I can’t see anyone taking the boss on in footballing matters, especially when there is veiled threat in there.

Finally a word of congratulations for our young men winning the under 21′s game for us, a big pat on the back for Keiran Gibbs who generously scored for both sides to make them feel better!

I just hope so much that those three can dislodge some of the prima donnas in the first team, especially if one of them is Cashley Cole.

Have a great day Grovers, only 6 days to go!

Hi. What do You think of Joachim Low as Wenger’s successor? His record as a German national coach is really impressive.Just a thought.Have a great Sunday!

    Afternoon All..

    Sunday bloody sunday !!

let All the whores form barca come out to play, lets fill our street corners with pimps like txiki and he’s gang of crack addicted whores from the catalan…and let it be heard all over the world…they are Great at sucking…

and lets bury the strip club once called barca forever..those inglorious barca’s aint worth the time of the day….no pride..no honor..no respect..just a bunch of cheap shots all of them…

other than that what a magninficant Sunday..on top of the world…Arshavin played well..Bendtner did more than ok..and Vela scored…Sendy got bananas–hope this mean we get a good price for him..and that its not his second coming ;)

    Jaguar..

like almost all *obsessions* Jaguar..i just hate *in general*people with absolutely ..no respect for others…plain and simple..
and Jaguar for as long as they run the club like they do…there is no pardon whatsoever…

so Jaguar mate…for three or four ours every feckin week i join every barca blog i know ..and take some abuse for my views ..isnt it just great..i feel like a million bucks every time…;)

BBK mate i actually think we can get a good price for him come January…:) hope so..abd then we go out and buy a decent cb..wouldnt hurt.:)

  4. tomstoned

about Sendy..20M abit too much maybe ..but since the financial crisis seems to be over..we might get about 10 for him..maybe..well anyways i hope we sell him and that he gets a good career somewhere else…he has a great heart..

  5. Angelos

I’m sorry but it’s not just Barca…every club uses the media to cater to its own interests. I’ts only because Cesc’s being targeted that you’re all getting so hot and fussed about it.
Get over it, if he goes then fine…good luck to him. Tbh I’m more worried about what’s happened regarding his family.

  6. tomstoned

i watched Denmarks game against Sweden yesterday, and coulndt avoid thinking af what Bendtner said some time ago….that he would be better than zlatan,,well if yesterdays game was anything to go by,,,,,my god he will not only get better…he will be much better :)

Tom, the point is, as long as we finish our season with nothing yet AGAIN, Barca will be doing the same thing over and over again. Face it. In 4 years time they have won 8 trophies and we have won zero. Back in the invincibles era we have been attracting many quality players and Barcelona was s**t with Gaspart in charge. In football many thing can change suddenly and very fast. Remember- glory and star players can always attract another quality player to the team. We still need a quality gk, another quality cd, and another quality cdm. If we don’t get them, we will end up another season with empty hands, and Cesc MIGHT be tempt by Barca and can You blame him? It’s all about winning in the first place, not about playing sexy football and ending up with nothing. Cesc is ambitious, can You blame him. If we fail to deliver this year, it will be the same case with Vermaelen in the next summer. We need trophies.Best wishes mate and no offence meant.

  8. tomstoned

    Angelos…

its NOT every team mate..still many clubs operate almost in the same way those whores from barca do..agreed

to me however im stucked with them….and i want let it go..sorry ;)

but i will admit there are some great clubs in Spain who in my opinion deserve alot of respect like villareal..

    tom

  9. tomstoned

Maciek you have good points..i agree..

that doesnt mean that i have to roll over..barca to me is a club with no honor ..no respect..no pride.at all..(Overmars,Henry,and on and on)

and one more point when FIFA (hopefully soon)install the new rules concerning finances,,,,clubs like chelski, real, barca…will be in trouble..

and we do need trophies Maciek mate..no offence taken..all good…

    tom

  10. Angelos

tom…the media in Spain has a completely different format to the British media, and when you understand those differences you can then detract some of the blame off Barca.

In Spain, there are various papers dedicated predominantly to the news of one singular club…it’s the same in Greece and Italy. That means stored quotes, excessive repetition and stories with weak foundations.
Admittedly, these papers have closer links with the clubs they cover but it would not surprise me if half of the quotes Barca are credited with within 4 months were from one or two interviews.

So what we see as constant bugging is usually just lazy reporting.

  11. tomstoned

    Angelos..
that may well be th cause…still there is in the case of those inglorious barca’s no excuse there are far to many examples of them unsettling players in a big way…even that dishonest fool for a mangager..the chief pimp..pep or whatever his names is..is often doing just that…whoring out..

and look Angelos every time the*whores*change a leader they promise that or that player..what the feck is that about…not very gentlemanlike i must say..

no my friend ..they look more than crack addicted whores sitting on a street corner begging for a quick fuck and a much needed fix…

in my book….i just hate them plain and simple…then again i love Arsenal..and thats all that counts right ;)

    tom

  12. peachesgooner

    Hi all

Kroenke not paying for his shares is old news – The Times revealed in May that he hadn’t paid for the lot taken earlier in the year and Private Eye did an exposee of it…..

But why hasn’t he paid for them if he has the money?

I like Londons idea that he’ll pay for them when he’s good and ready but that can’t be good for the club……it makes the Arsenal board look very silly IMHO

  13. tomstoned

    evenin Peaches..

agreed…but i do think the main reason why Kroenke is gettin*off*that easy ..is because they look at him as more civilized than the Russian Evil ;)

    tom

  14. tomstoned

    and Angelos..

concerning Cesc and the family *incident*i must say im really happy for Cesc that he is an Arsenal player…if one care to look at facts..Cesc wouldnt get more support or help if needed (including his family)in any other club in the world….

    and that im proud of….

    tom

  15. Angelos

Yeah tom, I think we treat players relatively well…especially in relation to Barca. I can’t remember the last great foreign player to leave there amicably.

  16. tomstoned

    well im off..

almost time for five o’clock tea..have a great sunday Angelos,Maciek,Peaches,BBK,and all Gooners and Grovers alike…

    later…

    Found this:

Sky has also reported that Cesc Fabregas has left the Spain squad “due to a serious family matter”.

I don’t think that the writer has been told that his wife is pregnant, and with it due any minute, it would seem that that is the obvious reason for his leaving the team.

It was even discussed that he may have been withdrawn from the squad before they even met up.

But luckily he played yesterday because he scored Spain’s first goal!

So it looks very like we can expect an announcement from Daddy Fabregas very soon.

  18. Marko

Anybody else getting mad with all this Barcelona Cesc stories just going over and over. Bloody scum they are. I’m sure the media will probably try to connect Fabregas going home for family reasons with the comments from Txiki Begiristain today. Bloody humbug

  19. Goonerman

Marko – ignore all of it. 2 or 3 days ago it was Madrid who were gonna buy him, now, to keep up with Madrid, Barca hacks are writing that Barca will buy him. Its all an ego game between those two.

  20. Marko

And on Merida I think it’s a bit of an empty threat I don’t see him leaving he’s just looking for more game time. If he ended up leaving he’d just end up like Reyes going from spanish club to spanish club never really fulfilling his potential.

  21. skandibird

Have I missed something then? I didn’t realise Cesc was married? Thought he just had a ‘girlfriend/ fiancee, mind you if true (about the pregnancy I mean) it will so shut up my Spud colleague who claims Cesc is ‘Gay’, apparently due to his tweaked eyebrows???!!!

  22. reggie57

Skandi tell your spud colleague not to throw stones in glass houses or have they forgot about Jenas,Defoe and cashley!!

  23. skandibird

reggie57; LOL, actually it was Jermaine Pennant/Ashley and Jenas in that hotel room; (allegedly) so my very very reliable source told me at the time, but the hacks all agreed to keep it quiet……. I did hear a whisper that Ash broke Jermaine’s heart… aaaaaah

  24. skandibird

well, currently he’s wearing Cheryl’s knickers and Mano Blanik heels ; as she’s busy with X-factor he feels safe to do so!!!

  25. Ja_Gunner

I think if anything we should loan Merida out, I think he needs more game time to develop….playing for the reserves is not enough.

If he would be ok with a year long loan for instance with a team like Athletico…..then maybe we could do that and bring him back…

I think that Fabregas will want to go back to Barca when he is 24/25……that means after the 2010/11 season or the 2011/12 season.

He will want to go at that time because he will want to go when he is still in his prime and has a lot to offer, I doubt he wants to go back there when he is 29/30 and going down hill….

I think this is part of the reason why Ronaldo pushed to go to Real because he wanted to go before he started to fade…..

So we know we will lose Fabregas sometime so we should try to keep Merida for now…..it Merida Ramsey and Nasri can share the 2 attacking midfeild positions…

  26. paul

Rooney has pulled out of Englands next game with a calf injury. It will be interesting to see if he is fit to play for Man Scum at the weekend as calf injuries normally take a few weeks

  27. Rob

Vela was top notch last night

Constantly created chances, scored, nearly scored a bicycle kick, something which the ‘big’ dane would never have the audacity or technique to pull off

Vela should be starting on the wing ahead of Diaby and Bendtner

I love theo, but im starting to wonder how much of that was generated by hype

When given an opportunity in any game, Vela has made more of an impression than him.

Carlos- good luck, you are the best attacking (Wingers and striking talent over 17) that arsenal have

You could be a world beater, show us what you can do against ‘Pool

  28. ardentgooner

i think Ivan Gazidis shud come out and say that he will bid for Messi in january and send shockwaves arnd the world….FUCK U BARCA…

  29. ardentgooner

I’m sick of this Barca and Fab talk……U want FAB….give MESSI in return…. that would keep them quiest…ASS HOLES>….MOTHERFUCKING TARTS BORN TO DISRUPT THE EXISTENCE OF PLAYERS……

  30. Ja_Gunner

I just read that Milan have decided that will offload Huntelaar…..its not that I rate the Hunter but…

If this is true then the Milan Heirarchy are idiots…..Milan are not scoring goals becuase their midfield is too fucking old…..

Dont they see that not even Pato nor Inzaghi are scoring either….they have scored 6 goals in about 9 games…

They need young talented midfielders/wingers to setup the forwards…..

    Look at the midfield….

    Gattuso………………31(tackler)
    Ambrosini…………….32(not creative)
    Seedorf………………33
    Pirlo………………..30
    Ronaldinho………..29(doesnt care about football anymore)

    Those guys start most games…..

    And also there is

    Jankolovski…………………32
    Zambrotta…………………..32

Those are the full backs…no wonder they cant create anything…

Then there are the old defenders as well…

They need some talent/youthful energy to setup the strikers….now Pato is there wasting away along with Huntelaar….

  31. yon

Nicky Bendtner and Alex Song will be MASSIVE players for us. I saw them both play yesterday and their ability and composure on the ball was shockingly good. Alex Song is probably the most technically gifted defensive and Bendtner has amazing ability for someone his size.

  32. Pedro

    Evening all!

London, I’d say in attack… we’ve got amazing options.

In the holding role, not so good.

    In defence… not so good.

If Song gets injured, we’re struggling… even if Nasri can play there, there will be adaptation time.

If Vermaelen or Gallas get injured… we’re in trouble again.

Top post Geoff, just because a guy wears a cowboy hat… it doesn’t make him a nice guy!

  33. Pedro

Ja, I said in the summer Huntelaar is a very limited striker… and he’s proved to be so far at Milan.

Far too slow… even for Italy!

  34. London

If Rooney gets a serious injury the mancs will finish below spuds. Our squad is far superior; and soon, the manc loving media are going to be forced to recognise it.

  35. London

I think the mancs are punching way above their weight; we played them off the park and were unlucky to lose. They were lucky against City. The game that tell’s us more than any other is the one against Burnley.

  36. Pedro

London, they’re grinding out wins at the moment and they’re playing badly… they look half the team without Ronaldo… but I still think there is a bundle to come from Berbatov and I think Valencia could be a handy addition.

The worst they’ll do this year is finish third in my opinion.

Liverpool are in a much tougher situation for form and player losses…

It’s exciting it’s all up in the air though… it’s a shame we hit some form, then the break comes… sods law.

  37. ManGoonian

    Hey BBK mate!

You gotta wonder about the timing of this shite/

I mean, they cant sign Cesc till the summer a least.

It is all down to the upcoming elections at the club and the jockeyiung for positions.

The Presidential hopefuls will be promising the earth and every big name player to get in.

The fact that her majesty’s finest hacks pick up all these stories and run with em as if they are facts is pathetic and shows what a bunch of cunts they are.

  38. Rhyle

To clear this up – Fab has withdrawn from the Spain squad because his grandad is very ill in hospital.

Doubt we’ll see him at the weekend but it’s completely understandable.

  40. ethangunner

im sick to death of all these pricks who come on here and deny anything negative !

yes the idea is to look forward !
    sure ..
but the club is in ownership disarray
we have american’s and russian’s hovering around
wanting to take us over , a current regime who has denied spending for the past 5 years and ruined the prestige of this club and choked us the chance of silverware ..

We have had 1 good game V’s blackburn FFS !
hardly a world beater team and suddenly again we are kings of the world !

I think many people have a right to air there complaint’s , to pick on sub standard players like our goal keeper , or the mediocre midfield players we’ve been forced to witness since flamini and hlebs departure …

some pricks would gleefully take away other fans right’s to observe these facts and comment on them ..

I would agree with geoffs initial statement pre – season of we are 2 or 3 players away from dominating ..

and until they are purchased we will be 4th at best AS EVER !

those are the current facts with the highest paying odds of holding true , history dictates it … and until i see a sustained run of victories V’s prime opposition i have every right to criticize

  41. ethangunner

not to mention we have been lied too at every turn …

    (after paddy left+ others )

Arsene is your team in transition ???

    Arsene : NO

we have money / then we dont / after we sell ade then we do again / but wont spend .. AGAIN !

the highest paying ticket , which came with promises of keeping us ON TOP ! because of it ..

if some fans are too fickle to realize i put it down too a below par IQ , its not your fault ..

But FFS learn from history ! until wenger leaves , or gets it out of his head to promote youth players in the ‘top level competition in the world’ and stopusing the EPL games as glorified training for their career’s and just play your best mature players every week with the aim of winning
( like blackburn ) , we will drop too many important games which affects morale !

and the cycle starts over …

i personally feel like if wengers prophecies are going to ring true, it will be this season
but i need to see a sustained run of victories 1st !

against the top teams , so far we have failed against them this season , and if you cant put it in perspective that beating blackburn or losing to MAN U is relevant then your the one who will look like fools !

like ive always said i will commend this team when they are worth commending !

and yes im a glory hunter ! of a fan !
i go to see my team win !
    not fail !

    2nd place is the 1st loser !

  42. A

lol ethan, you talking about below par IQs, the irony.

I do imagine you as Gareth from the office, the complete and utter gibberish you come out with, yet really believe in all of it, completely oblivious to how totally ridiculous the majority of it is, then try to put down those with differing opinions, without any rational argument behind your put downs, just juvenile little attacks, name calling etc.

At times it can be entertaining to listen to, because it can be funny, but at other times it’s just really irritating

  43. ethangunner

well A your just ‘irritating’ nothing more , and unlike me ..

    your NEVER funny …

just a sad delusional little man who preaches who fucking great we are , yet can never deliver any proof ! history is proof !
    and until it changes ..

    it remains the same …
look at the EPL table ..
infact look at the EPL table for thew past 5 fucking years !

and nice to see you comment on yet another thing you know completely fuck all about ..

    like training !

    HAHAHA!

didnt see a return comment to that passage of play .. just like numbchucks is just a rumor ..

lets face it .. head to head with me you have a woeful record …

  44. ethangunner

    A’s favorite saying ..

I HAVE TO DISAGREE THERE ….

no shit Sherlock .. you disagree with everyone .
i happen to think cesc – AA – nasri – rosicky (when fit) The verminator are all top players ..

so i dont need to talk with what is right with the club , id rather focus on the problems ..

yet to you , there is no problems .
yet somehow mystically every season we not only fail to head the league , but for 5 years have been devoid of silverware ..

yet you preach this team out like we are Barcelona MK II

your a sad delusional little individual
that knows just enough your dangerous !

  45. ethangunner

    hahaha GG ,

im just sick of the wafflers ..
the proof is in the pudding …
until the ship starts heading into clear waters
(beating the top 4 with regularity )
    win some silverware ..
dont have to listen to bullshit excuses like we played them out of the park , yet lost .. :)

Blackburn was a step in the right direction .Sure!
but can they preform like that V’s the chev’s ?

half here would have you believing so !
lets not be kidding ourselves ..

    well not yet anyhow !

  46. ethangunner

    A,

you cannot stand back and look at the bigger picture without out being bias as fuck …
thats your problem in a nut shell , dont be sad a lot on here are the same !

that is truly sad however!!! :)

because it means you know little about the big picture , and only focus on AFC ..

you would do well to shut up until half of what you preach turns into reality ..

or predicting that every name that didnt join us would have never made it anyhow !!

if ade, song and eboue can make it ,
    anyone can under wenger …
or bitchslap who you happened to like
HAHAHAHA! (so you were the one )

and players who are above average like half the people you mentioned pre-season who wouldnt make it ..would actually make it .. and make it quite well .. under wenger !

the problem with this team is not on the field
its more associated with management and funds, lack of re-investment belief , quality and stubbornness .

    Morning All,

Nik played well but was on the Left wing for most of the game. His control, pace and passing was superb for a lad of just 21. OK, he occasionally makes the wrong decision, but that will come with experience.

    ==========================

I really cant understand how you people cant just admit to yourself that this boy is garbage and will never be Arsenal quality.

YOu’eve been making excuses for shite since forever.

How much experience does one need before they become a half decent player ffs?

He’s been a full international since 2006…made over 30 appearances for his country as a first teamer (how the fuck they survived only grace knows) and has played made over 100 appearances for Arsenal and is still quite fucking shite.

  51. David

Out of all our talented kids i’m quite disheartened to see that Arsene sticks to the most garbage of them especially Bendtner.

Infact out of all out talent he likes to stick in eboue and Diaby and ofcoarse Bendy while there is Carlos Vela, Eduardo and JW who are obviously ready now.

    Rant over.

I still believe we will win the trebble and take our revenge against Barca for the 2010 CL Champions.

  52. gnarleygeorge9

The Arsenal hierarchy have warned manager Arsene Wenger that they expect the Premier League club to end their four-year trophy drought this season.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “It’s absolutely our ambition to win a trophy this year. I couldn’t be more clear on that. Second, third or fourth isn’t good enough. We want to win something – this season – and we believe we have the squad to do that.”

Wenger’s last trophy came in 2005 when the Gunners beat Manchester United in a penalty shoot-out to win the FA Cup. Despite consistently finishing in the top four places in the league and reaching the Champions League and Carling Cup final Arsenal have not laid their hands on any silverware since.

Wenger has always given the excuse that he is developing a young team but Gazidis insists it is time to deliver.

“We have created and developed a team playing fantastic football,” the 45-year-old told the Star on Sunday. “It’s wonderful to watch and very exciting at times. We’ve spoken about the group’s potential. Now – and by now I mean this season – it’s very important for us to focus strongly on winning something for the fans. They deserve it.”

  53. Emperor Gooner

The 28-year-old left the Emirates in the summer of 2008 to realise what he thought would be a dream move to Barcelona. However, struggled to break into Pep Guardiola’s first team, watching mostly from the bench as the Catalan giants claimed the Champions League, Primera Division and Cope del Rey titles last term.

The Belarussian has since moved on and rejoined Stuttgart on loan in search of regular first-team football. Back in London for international duty, the former Gunners favourite admitted he never should have left.

“I regret leaving Arsenal,” Hleb lamented, according to The Daily Express.

“I was playing every week for one of the most exciting sides in Europe. I was being guided by one of the best coaches in the world in Arsene Wenger. I owe him a great deal.

“No player ever gets worse under Wenger. I developed a better all-round game under him. I became more robust physically.”

Real are aiming to usurp Barca’s bid to bring Cesc back to Camp Nou…

Despite continuous rumours linking him with a return to Barcelona, Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will reportedly be the subject of a bid from Real Madrid next summer, according to AS.

It is suggested that Madrid’s coaching staff already see a shortfall in Los Merengues midfield and have identified Fabregas, along with French midfielder Franck Ribery, as the transfer priorities next summer.

Real’s interest is set to scupper what is seen by many as an eventual return to Camp Nou by the 22-year-old midfielder as Los Blancos seem certain to intensify their bid to lure the star Gunner away from the Emirates.

Madrid reportedly offered Arsenal in the region of €40-50 million for Fabregas in 2008 and followed that with a €60 million bid in the summer just passed but the player opted on both occasions to remain in London.

Now it appears that the situation may be changing, with suggestions that Fabregas’ departure from North London is inevitable. The progress and development of Arsene Wenger’s new breed of starlets including Aaron Ramsey, Vassiriki Diaby and Denilson is said to be key to a potential deal.
