Hoyte is off, does that mean another English talent won’t make it?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So Gavin Hoyte has signed for Brighton, on loan it has to be said, but that now means that Simpson, Lansbury, Thomas and Hoyte are all out on loan, is that saying he believes the young English kids will make it, or they are just not good enough, did Theo, Wilshere or Ramsey go on loan?

Ashley Cole did though so maybe… It’s a question, that’s all, not a whine, over the years we’ve had a lot of talent go south so I always get a little nervous when we lose young players on loan, wondering if they are valued, wondering whether we’ll see them again, Hoyte didn’t stand out for me so I won’t be devastated if he left, but after waiting so long for them to come through the ranks I always feel a part of me dies when they go out on loan.

Cesc says he’s loving the 4-3-3 and it gives him more freedom, it makes you wonder why it took so long for the boss to give it a go doesn’t it? I mean no one liked 4-5-1, we certainly hated it, so at least we are at last doing something both the fans and the players both like.

Not a big news day today so maybe tomorrow will bring something special, maybe tomorrow will unleash a loan signing like Paddy, at least tomorrow means we are a day closer to next Saturday when we get to see the Arsenal again.

Have a great day Grovers, at least Friday is joke day!

Little Johnny’s dad is sitting on the side of the bed rolling on a
condom about to give his wife some.
Little Johnny sticks his head in the door, sees his dad and says,
    “Whatcha doin’ Daddy?”
Johnny’s dad stoops over to cover up his d*ck and starts looking at the
floor. “Oh, I’m just looking for this big rat I saw.” he says.
Little Johnny asks, “Whatcha gonna do, f*ck it?”

So our President Wins a facking Nobel Peace Prize…and you’d think Some people Would be happy about it? No. Theyre not…they are fuking pissd. And for what?

    Socialism.

stu i dought lamsbury is on the same level of ramsey or wintshire with wenger if you are good enough will and fran merida

  4. Stu

Not the same level how Leon? Lansbury is a potential match winner imo because he takes the game by the scruff of the neck and tries to make things happen. He is also a leader imo…proved by him being captain of england under whatever age he plays for.

Nada Geoff, I have been going on about it all day. What a disgrace the Swedes are by awarding that to Mr. Bama for 9 months in office and two wars going on.

so far in a week ive had 3 phone interviews and 1 f2f

i reckon ive applied for 200+ jobs

the market is kinda dry compared to the last time in 07 when i was in it

my knee surgery is next Friday. im dreading it

i could probably speak to owen hargreaves or rosicky for encouragement :D

  8. Franchise

i wld be crutched out for a while maybe 4-6 weeks

which means i wld loose all my muscle mass and need physio to strengthen my quads, hamstring and calf muscles

  9. Keith

Not sure if this has already been discussed but has anyone seen the Myles Palmer/Alex Flynn interview on Arsenal News Review?

It does look like Wenger actually had £70M to spend but chose only to get Vermaelen and up existing players contracts!

If this is true then, if we don’t win anything this season he has put a silly amount of pressure on himself – he could have at got a DM cover and a CB, and if it didn’t work out at least he would have been seen to have tried to plug the gaps in our squad.

  10. Arsenal Tom

lovely, to be fair my mates a pretty unfit fucker and he was back at work (building site) after 5 weeks, im no expert but he said his physio told him the doctors etc always tell you worst case/longest scenario to make it seem better than it could have been

either way i wouldnt fancy it myself!!

  11. Nick

i think wenger has the players he wants in mind and will not just spend coz he can..that’s a good thing imo come jan if needed and available a couple of faces will come in imo

Just to weigh in with my 5cents; how xan a president who’s country murders innocents on a daily basis in a conflict on the other side of the world?

Old Alfie Nobel is spinning in his coffin at the moment!

fucking disgraceful… …Brown to win it next year and ol Silvio B the year after then!

“had the balls to say what some people couldnt say for centuries?”
i havent heard orread much of his speeches but can u give me the idea of dare thing david

  15. Sion De Freitas

Wenger knows who he wants to get, but he won’t make a move unless he absolute has to in his mind, such is his unwavering belief in the squad. He is probably keeping an eye on the reserve midfielders (Coquelin, Lansbury etc) as they could be on the verge of stepping up.

Coquelin did give the ball away a few times in the CC match, but he was very impressive overall.

Matuidi would be a pointless signing if you go by that theory, but again, a player of his kind is essential, plus he has the basic experience needed to play (i.e. he has played about 150 games at the highest level, he’s not a baby lol)

Obama is probably the smartest man the U.S. has had as president for awhile now. I fucking hate politics, but realistically, no president would accomplish much after the deep troubles Bush put the U.S. in

i always read, rarely blog, but going to my 1st arsenal match ever(im 23 !) against birmingham looking for any hotels near the stadium that would be cheapish if anyvody knows of some,
    thanks

    stu

if lansbury was on the level as the likes of ramsey and wintshire he would be in first team squad and going out on loan,i have no dought that he looked extremly impresive in reserves and under 21 but there a massive difference between reserves and being ready for the first team

  20. A

leon lansbury was fast tracked into the first team squad training with them two years ago, but got glandular season less than halfway through the season which kept him out for the second half of the season, and he still hadn’t fully recovered when he returned last season. His development has just been slowed massively because of that, he’s still a big big talent.

  21. leon

a i have to admitt he is one player have realy seen mush off,i realy its going to be tough for hoyte with aboue and world class player like sagna, samething for simpson he has vela, nikky, theo, edwardo, rvp he is going have tough time getting into first team but well to see

  22. Geoff

So David, he would get my vote if he stopped financing the Israelies, what actual peace has happened then since he had this award winning conversation then.

  23. Pedro

    David, talk is cheap.

He’s done fuck all to deserve that prize and he absolutely knew it this morning in his press conference.

How embarrassing… like getting player of the season after the emirates cup!

  24. Pedro

… and he did go to Israel, had a nice chat, but nothing’s developed. They haven’t even put a date in the diary!

  25. BATCH

Personally i dont think going out on loan means they are out of Wengers plans. As well as cole. Vela and Bentner both went out on loan to gain first team experience. Thomas should definitely get a chance.

  26. Pedro

Batch, Vela went for passport reasons, Nik was purchased… he was never leaving.

If you’re English, going out on loan means you’re off normally.

  27. Ja-Gunner

I see the game is 3-2 who are the scorers?

Every stream I try gives me about a minute..then it cuts off and says I have to purchase a premium account……

    Are there any free streams?

  28. chozzer

Pedro, you’re in a right arsey mood tonight. What’s brought that on?
Isn’t going out on loan a chance to prove yourself. What difference does it make if you’re English or not.?

  29. Pedro

haha, I’m not in an arsey mood. I was just kidding… maybe I should have integrated a smiley :-)

On a serious note, how many English players have gone out on loan and come back to compete?

    1 by my reckoning.

He only came back becuase Silvinho had a dodgy passport.

  30. ethangunner

    chozzer,

I would be surprised if all our English lads weren’t on loan . 1stly the way arsene gives them
spot light in the C.C , and then 2ndly if your a native footballer in your own country who is at least semi talented , most lower division teams would be VERY interested in securing your services if not LONG term , at the very least SHORT term .

Having said that past players like Quincy and Lupoli Larrson etc also went on loan and also got sold off, so i dont think its a sell the English kids mentality, its more like SELL EVERY FUCKER FOR A PROFIT regardless ..

we only keep the ones no bastard wants to buy :)
    and the occasional cesc …

  31. gazzap

I have only watched the second half but JW looks different class to the rest of them.
Gibbs has been busy I see!

  32. ethangunner

    pedro

how many international youths have also gone out on loan and come back to play a part in the 1st team ?

NONE by my reckoning either .

at least gibbs and cole(in the past) ,jack ramsey, theo all look like having a crack at staying long term ..

the rest is just an international youth failure list as long as the eye can see .

  33. Pedro

Bends is about the only one I can think of?

He was purchased at 16 though…

    Chozzer, I’d hardly say he’s made it…

  34. gazzap

Gibbs has made it. we can all see his is future first team material. bad own goal though. should have had his head on that.

  35. Pedro

Chozzer, I don’t reckon Traore, Randall or Sanchez Watt think their careers are over either… chances are though…

  36. ethangunner

Nik is hardly a preferred starter in the 1st team,
but thats true , you could say the same about vela as we did get him at 16 ..

but lets be honest wenger’s youth purchases for all the notoriety he gets, is really in all honesty a bit of a train wreck .

  37. Pedro

Of course Chozzer… I’d have loved it if Thierry and Bobby were English…

What has this got to do my preference for English players?

  38. chozzer

Pedro, as far as I’m concerned, the Arsenal shirt transcends nationality. I don’t care what passport they have if they play for us.

  39. Pedro

Paul, I like him… he’s aggressive, a good tackler and he has a good range of passing. He reminds me of Ray Parlour.

  40. Pedro

Emperor, I think it has more to do with his physiological development… you play them too much when they’re young… they end up like Owen or Dyer.

  41. chozzer

“If you’re English, going out on loan means you’re off normally.”
“I’d have loved it if Thierry and Bobby were English…”

    Why and why?

  42. Pedro

I’d love it if Megan Fox was my girlfriend, what’s wrong with wanting the best?

“If you’re English, going out on loan means you’re off normally.”

Well, history will tell you it does. You don’t really have to look further than his brother do you?

Pedro, do you think JET thinks his Arsenal career is over?
    —————————————
Jet will probably end up playing for the spuds or pompey or some such , i feel sorry for these kids , they very seldom make it here..
wenger pulls the trigger to early on them on most occasions , mainly to rasie revenue for the club .

even if wenger was proved eventually right , like Bentley – Upson -Kitson ? Pennant those sort of on the fence EPL players , wenger gets them in way too early .. and gets rid of them too soon .

recently he has refined his purchases to just wonder kids .. and keeping wonder kids (in jack’s case )

    rambo – vela – theo

all started for us young, cost us millions and he expects results from , the rest is just a lotto draw and space fillers ..

Basically like cattle and sold off to the lower clubs as a revenue raiser ..

  44. chozzer

Who said anything was wrong with wanting the best?
All I don’t want to happen is for us to persist with English lads that are sub-standard just because they are English.
You’re right though Pedro, of course (as always).

  45. ethangunner

Who said anything was wrong with wanting the best?
    ————————————————

then we have a Spanish waiter in goals !
eboue etc as a 1st team player ….

i dont think wenger is familiar with the phrase .

  46. A

Pedro both Cole and Gibbs went out and returned to the first team squad, what other young english players have been good enough?!

If you aren’t good enough to make it, then you’ll be sent out on loan, regardless of nationality.

It doesn’t follow though that if you’re sent out on loan you aren’t good enough to make it.

Nationality is an irrelevance too. Both English players who’ve made it in recent years have gone out on loan, Bentley went out on loan but came back and was in the squad before he went again and was offloaded.

Hoyte doesn’t have a hope of making it, Simpson the tiniest little bit of hope, but he never did before going on loan! Lansbury has a decent chance, as does JET, I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Bartley and/or Ayling go on loan next season, or even this season, and so could Watt, and that doesn’t mean they’re written off as having a chance of making it with the first team by any means.

  47. Pedro

Chozzer, I feel the same… however, like Geoff always says… how come we never persist with the English kids? We’ve persisted with Song and Denilson and they’re hardly exceptional…

  48. Pedro

A, I’m aware of that if you follow the posts.

Theo hasn’t been good enough and he’s never been out on loan, Rambo wasn’t good enough last year and he didn’t go out on loan…

The foreigners seem to get more of a crack than the English…

  49. ethangunner

    pedro

thats wengers pride in motion ..

dont think that rambo – vela and theo or any other recent purchase wont ‘NOT’ make it either ..

  50. Pedro

Ethan, if Song has proved anything, it’s that if you play someone enough, they’ll eventually become average.

  51. A

Pedro imo it’s usually largely the attitudes of the English players, Upson demanded first team football, or a move, and wasn’t willing to go on loan, so there was no way he could’ve stayed. Pennant and Bentley were nobheads, Muamba and Sidwell have done well for themselves but aren’t close to and never will be close to Arsenal standard, I don’t know which other English kids havn’t been persisted with?

We’re an English club, therefore there are more English players that come through, and less foreign players, and the foreign players are generally going to be more talented than your average Englishman, which is why they were brought over from overseas.

  52. A

Pedro Theo was good enough, he made an impact from the bench from the very start, he was never not good enough to be a squad member…. Except for when we first signed him, and you don’t send kids THAT young out on loan. Ramsey was a squad member from the start too….

It wasn’t like they were stuck in the reserves the whole time, if they were just in the reserves then i’m sure they would’ve gone on loan

  53. ethangunner

    yes but pedro ,

the above players were courted by other major clubs (competitors ) (chev’s , man U )

if wenger promised them the world then sent them out on loan to barnet , rambo’s mum would be pissed !

(but thanks for the world cup tickets arsene :) )

people like jack should go out on loan if wenger wont play him ! its better than getting splinters on your ass ..

  54. A

Talking about young english players – was surprised by cleverly today, he was impressive, much better than he looked in the 19s, where lansbury always outshone him

  55. gazzap

not a single player who went on loan and was subsequently sold has gone on to have a career which has left me thinking ‘If he were back at Arsenal, he would improve our first team’. there are a couple who might be squad players but nothing better than that.

wenger has always kept his best players, so he has shown he IS a good judge.

But now there is a big pool of talent coming through and the sheer numbers mean that not all can make it at Arsenal. I think there is a big chance we could lose a player who 4 years later, will become a player we really wish we’d kept.

But its a fine line, how can you develop a player who is inexperienced and wants to play every week? They can only play every week at a smaller club – A Bolton or a Birmingham. If we could such a thing as a 3 year loan that might be even better!

  56. A

Because you send players on loan to get first team football Pedro, 17 year olds are too young to play week in week out, and with that being the purpose of sending players on loan you’ll find VERY few players of that age loaned out, unless they’re man-children of rooney sort of build at a young age

  57. A

Pedro Inter, Lyon, and Utd were sniffing around Song when we signed him originally so he probably would be, though not first team i’d doubt

  58. ethangunner

    Pedro Says:

Ethan, if Song has proved anything, it’s that if you play someone enough, they’ll eventually become average.
    ————————————-
here, here to that one :) !

i suppose it depends on each individuals circumstances, maybe if you have a work permit
(exceptional talent work permit ) and screaming blue murder to play or move on , wenger is forced to play you as a priority ..
(and stunt the club’s fortunes until such time you look at least average )

and its deemed to be looked on as a failure if he cannot deliver on someone’s youth career !

but its time to get as ruthless with young players as it is when you appear to reach 30 in wengers eyes ..

and lets face it sell senderos (if anyone will have him) eboue – song – denilson – big al

and with the money buy someone else ..
someone who fits the team like a missing piece of a puzzle , not some square peg force into a round hole due to pride !
