Ade scarred for life, ban those fans from the ground and put them in prison.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I just read with horror that the way we treated Adebayor at the end of his Arsenal career has scarred him for life, and now he’s at City, they sing his name and he feels love again. Mad as a bag of snakes!

You bastards, what did you do in those games I wasn’t there? I personally hoped at times his fat head would explode and bits of grey matter would find there way to my seats, unfortunately there was no grey matter in his head, so nothing reached me. However, because I thought that someone who just had his wages trebled and flirted with Barca and Milan was an evil greedy disgusting excuse for a human being, and should no longer wear the Arsenal shirt, I will give myself up to the thought police and ask for a life long ban.

Arsene said that his prodigy wasn’t motivated by money, so it must be our fault he left, I’m sorry Ade, I’m also sorry for all those sad bastards that used your name on blogs, not sure wether they will now follow Man City or maybe they’ll change their names to Big Phil or something, however I wish them luck at their new clubs.

It was sad to see the girls go down last night, I think they had a poor keeper, but at least they got to a final eh! Never thought I’d be sad to see girls going down but life goes on.

I’m really up for this one tomorrow and hope that Cesc and Rosicky play, if they turned out for their countries they can turn out for us, and against an ‘up for it City’ we need to be at our best, let’s hope that Gallas and Bendtner settle a few old scores, I fancy them both to prove a big point.

I hope that if Song and Denilson both play, they go out and prove me wrong, I hope they shut everything that comes out of their midfield down quickly and hard, because their midfield done us at the Eastlands last season, that’s where the battle will be won I think.

At least City will come out to play and we all know what we can do when that happens, Ok so we don’t have Arshavin, but we have to move on, it was his choice, we can’t blame Hiddink for wanting him anymore than we can blame Arsene, he’s a great player, it’s up to Eduardo or Rosicky to step up.

I have a funny feeling Diaby may play in a more forward role, I wouldn’t be upset because he is an awkward sod like Ade was, but he knows the offside rule and he’ll want to pay us back for the ManU mistake. All we need to do to stop them ticking is stop them controlling the middle, and using their wingers, Robinho and SWP can damage any team, but then we aren’t just any team are we? We are the Arsenal and this game needs to be won.

Time to pay Wenger back boys, this game is a big, big benchmark. I think can win, I think we’ll have to win and I think the boys will prove how good they are tomorrow. Regardless of their average age being 23.9!

Finally a quick word on the flats that either have or haven’t been sold in the Highbury Square project. And the £350 million loan. Isn’t that why we have all these loans in place? All they have to do is pay off the interest each year, which they can do with ease, then sell them when the market picks up for even more than they planned, and as sure as eggs are eggs it will, and they will.

Anyway, Ivan told us this year the Highbury Square project was separate and ring fenced, or was that another porky to add to yesterdays list of Arsenal fibs.

They can’t have it both ways, or can they??? It seems to me that in the 4 years we’ve been at the Grove, we’ve spent nothing, earned loads, but still have the same amount of debt, now I’m no economist like Mr Wenger, but isn’t that impossible?

Have a great day today Grovers, one more day of boredom and the season really begins.

RobGreen – agree with u. RvP is a SS,hence why i would put him as the RF.he is a scorer of gr8 goals imo not gr8 goalscorer – last season the only exception.Personally i’d prefer a front 3 of Rosicky- Eddie – Arshavin, with RvP on bench duty.

Ade as a player is fantastic, one of the best in the Epl without a doubt bt he doesnt know how to conduct himself and we the arsenal fans drove him away
    ————————————
fucking delusional ! if he was so fantastic
Real-M or barca would have knocked on his door not man shitty ..

the guy was a thorn in our side , and like he plagued me whilst he was at the club no doubt he will do it again this weekend ..

Adebarndor .. look it up in the dictionary and it stands for anything that fucks AFC up the ass !

and thats why he will score against us ..
because thats the sort of luck he has …
    NOT SKILL , luck ..

i agree if we win F-All , cesc will be off ,

KM – I would say RVp is a good player but I am not sure if he will ever be great IMO. He won’t ever finish top goalscorer or become a consistent match winner. He is to injury prone!!

  4. sarge

The man is clearly emotionally crippled. If he’s not financially motivated (yeah right)then the need for a bunch of strangers to ‘lay on the love’ week in, week out is clearly a sign that the Moby is a very insecure human being. What about trying to be the best or matching the feats of heroes and legends gone by. Fuck off give me a huge cheque and lots of love and I’m sorted.

  5. KM in WALES

RobGreen – i hope not because we dnt have any similar quality player to replace him. If we had Diego or Georcuff signed only then would i happy be to let him go for a big sum – £70m.

  6. rob green

This does not give me any confidence!!

    9th September 2009

“I do not know if I will leave the Premiership next year,” he told Spanish newspaper Marca.

“I am happy there and it is an important year for the club. I have not spoken to anyone, if something has to happen it will happen, but currently there is nothing.

“For two or three years there was something (interest from Real Madrid). It’s true that Madrid and its fans have always been very good to me and that I will be forever grateful.”

  7. David

Id rather have a lucky guy that scores goals than a piss head that wears pink boots and cant score if Pele himself taught him day and night for 50 years.

All this idiotic hatred. Is Ade still Lazy now that he got an even pay hike at Shitty? 3 goals in 3 games most of them match winners? Tell you what if that basterd scores a hatrick against us it will be well deserved.

  8. Rhyle

David – calling Bendtner a ‘piss head that wears pink boots and can’t score if Pele himself taught him…’ and then saying ‘All this idiotic hatred…’ made me laugh. Loudly.

  9. rob green

adebayor is a good striker but we are better off without him. Wenger should have spent the adebayor money on another quality striker!!

    ==============

Bummp that. Ade was a scapegoat. Wenger should be ashamed of himself. Ade took all the heat for the miserable failure of the 08-09 Seasoson. The failure of the 4-5-1 and the absolute failure for Wenger to change the system when it wasnt working?

Personally i think if Cesc was out for 5mnths and Denilson was the one feeding me the ball id have been offsides like a fat cow meself.

  11. sarge

No David it’s not idiotic hatred. Far from it. I expect a certain standard of professionalism from our players / ex-players. Clearly you would rather have anyone capable of putting the ball in the back of the net rather than the quality of their overall contribution to the team.

Declaring that they feel loved by the supporters of their new team rather than wondering what went wrong with their old side is a sad indictment of the modern footballer. Loyalty and a desire to improve and deliver on a consistent basis gets my vote over a ‘lucky’ goal scorer any day. Wenger sold him for a reason and it was nothing to do with his ‘lucky’ goal scoring touch

  12. rob green

David – Adebayaor was not used as a scapegoat. People turned on him for flirting with AC Milan, His attitude on and off the pitch!!

    21 Feb 2009

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR has had an amazing F-word bust-up with an Arsenal fan at an airport.

The Gunners striker had to be calmed down by security after a verbal attack by a Brit in Lagos.

Adebayor was returning from Nigeria last week when the man started hurling abuse at him.

Witnesses said the fan, in his 30s and claiming to be a London paramedic, accused the star of not pulling his weight.

Rilwan Adedapo, who saw the incident, told SunSport: “The guy started getting personal about how he should try harder.

“Ade tried to laugh it off. But the man started hurling abuse at him and used the F-word.

“He screamed ‘You get paid £80,000 a week to put the ball in the back of the net and you’re still f***ing rubbish. I pay good money for a season ticket to pay your wages.’

“Emmanuel completely lost it and had a right go back. He said ‘I get £110,000 a week if you must know’. It just made the guy even more angry.

“If it wasn’t for security dragging him away, it could have got a lot worse.”

  13. Rhyle

David – Ade was never a scapegoat. Arsenal fans have cheered lesser players on the pitch because they’ve given 100%. Adebayor was a primadonna in his last couple of years at Arsenal but especially last season. He was strolling around the pitch, barely involved in some matches and I think it was this sort of performance which upset most, myself included. His behaviour in the previous close season, courting various clubs on the one hand while telling us how much he supposedly ‘loves Arsenal’ on the other was ridiculous.

  14. David

    Yea Sarge

At the end of the day when its all said and done its all about putting the ball in the back of the net.

All that circus/premadona/beyonce jives doesnt phase me one bit. Ronaldo was an absolute cock but MANAGED the right way he produced.

    Ade is/was very badly managed.

  15. David

    Rob

Do you seriously believe that story coming from Africa? Are you kidding me? Would you like me to pull out an Article about how someone killed a goat and the goat turned into his step father?

  16. Rhyle

So it’s Wengers fault David? Don’t make me laugh. Some people are beyond help. The French laughed at Wenger when we took him from Monaco calling him a ‘problem child’. At what point does it become the mans fault? Shouldn’t he know how to behave / perform / conduct himself? He’s not exactly a child in years is he?

  17. A

David Ade was managed AMAZINGLY well, I’d even go so far as to say he was one of Wenger’s greatest achievements! Very limited in terms of footballing talent, everyone in France wet themselves when they heard we were signing him, but Wenger got him overachieving to such an extent that he was one of the top scorers in the league on season, and sold for £25 million!

  18. David

The only player that was seen “strotting round the pitch” especially in the earlier parts of the season was wearing pink boots.

Personally i dont see what the Lazyness rubbish is all about. He got his money so he didnt feel the need to work hard for the team. What a load of hoarse shite. Is city not paying him higher than Us? Is he trotting around like a fairy on the pitch not giving an arse? Ofcoarse not. But somebody told you something and you believed it. I think Ade WAS a scapegoat and was bruttally overworked as the lone striker in a 4-5-1. I dont know who can play that role for a whole season without sustaining any major injury or keep up the work rate. Fernando Torres?

  19. sarge

OK Dave. Let’s fill the club with mercenaries and journeymen who meet your rather slender criteria and find out where we are in 4 to 5 years time.

Ade is a grown man. He makes his own mind up. if not, it rather empahasises my point about being emotionally inept

  20. David

    A,

It is the Managers job to motivate the players for the game. If they are seen “strotting around on the pitch” either you bench them and give them a rest or put fire under their arse.

Arsene is incapable of doing either.

  21. Rhyle

No David, I saw it myself. I’ve seen what Adebayor is capable of. I saw him work his socks off in his first few seasons and rightly praised him for it. I even mugged myself off by saying he was out of form when people starting to criticise his performances. Then it became apparent with the way he started to treat other players on the pitch, taking no responsibility for himself and generally strolling round the pitch. Lazy. At the moment he’s performing well for Man City. He performed well when he first joined us. Loads of effort. That’ll change, I’m sure.

  22. Rhyle

Keyser – I’ve had a serious sense of humour failure this afternoon. Think it’s withdrawal from proper football…

Looking forward to the game tomorrow. I’ve not been too impressed with Man City but there’s no denying their results. It’ll be tough but I’m backing us for all 3. 3-1 win.

  23. A

Limited footballing ability, both technically and intelligence wise, but very good physical attributes, therefore effective when REALLY applied himself, got way too big for his boots and stopped applying himself in the same way, so his effectiveness lessened.

He’s at a new club so applying himself once again, but once he’s decided he’s made it, gets bored, or falls out with someone in the team that level of application will diminish and his effectiveness will be limited once again.

He’s not played with a single team in his career where there havn’t been issues with his attitude, and/or problems with the manager and/or teammates.

Togo, Monaco, Metz, and us, it’ll be just a matter of time with City!

  24. sarge

Nothing to do with systems or being made a scapegoat. The man stopped trying after hitting 30 goals in a year and courted the so called ‘big clubs’ in Europe. I go to 90% of the games each year and I know when a player is trying and when they’re swinging the lead

  25. Rhyle

goonermichael – I was going to say a bendy bus at 11 o’clock at night. Or the last train home from Liverpool Street on a Friday.

  26. sarge

Spurious argument Dave – way off track. I wasn’t discussing Bendtner. My point is about Ade. If Bendtner fulfills my view of the modern footballer as stated earlier then he too will go down in my estimation. Until then the argument is a non-starter

  27. David

Rhyle you’ve lied to urself im afraid. You cant pinpoint any specifics or refer to any game…uve taken into the mass hype.

If there is any argument i would concede about Ade is that he cant understand the offsides rule to save his life. That could be down to his ineptitude or to Denilson and Song controlling midfield. Or playing with Nasri for the first time…i dont know take your pick .

He worked much better in the 4-4-2 with Van P as the secondary striker. Fact.

  28. Keyser

Rhyle – This seasons going to be exciting as long as Chelsea don’t just walk it and someone can find their weaknesses, there’s a long long way to go.

It wasn’t that funny anyway, just you see patterns emerge after you’ve been here a while, it’s kind of like the blogs character traits, the Bendtner – Adebayor debate is one of them, heh.

I don’t know what to expect from tomorrow, considering both teams attacking ability it could be a free-for-all.

  29. Rhyle

Well fuck me David – thanks for waking me up to my delusional state. I must have taken the blue pill.

Do I need to pinpoint specific games? I’m talking about his endeavours over the course of the whole season. I think I’m responsible enough to judge when a player is making an effort..and when he’s a lazy, overrated fuck.

  30. goonermichael

    david
ade and the offside rule is nothing to do with denilson or song. It’s a bit over the top to bring them into that point. he’s just not veruy inteligent

  31. Rhyle

Don’t think the City midfield is going to trouble us too much tomorrow and I’m not the biggest fan of our midfield and I don’t fancy them at the back – especially if Lescott plays. Pity we’ve got no Arshavin to get Kolo turned but think we’ll do the job.

Anyway peeps – enjoy the game tomorrow I’m off to get hammered, Wolvie berserker style.

    ——————-

The point was that he made it since we trippled his wages so he stopped working hard. Now that his wages have been quadrupled did he decide that he’s made it now? Is that why he’s scoring goals?

Im not convinced Ade was the root cuz of all problems Arsenal FC that sounds a tad bit overly simplified and ridiculous.

I will however conceed there is harmony in the dressing room. And i was again Never against the sale of Ade IF AND ONLY IF WE BROUGHT A REPLACEMENT!

  33. rob green

David – It’s not just a coincidence that since adebayor left the team look to have a better team spirit. As soon as adebayor got his pay rise his attitude changed!! I think the man is a C*nt

  34. David

Why was Cesc the highest in Assists two seasons last When Ade was scoring for fun?

Why did Ade find his scoring boots when Cesc came back from injury…visa vi…Villareal in CL?

It has everything to do with Denilson and SOng passing him the ball.

  35. sarge

Honestly Dave, I think that Hleb failed to live up to the billing until the last season ergo Barcelona’s interest and having his head turned by the bright lights and big city. Again should have taken a step back and wondered where he would fit in. I was surprised by their interest TBH.

Flamini was a late flowerer. Highly unimpressive for the first couple of years. Grimandiesque.

Do I have a beef with either. Not at all. Hleb never shouted the odds at the time and now admits his faux pas. Not the first to do so. Flamini – Arsenal prevaricated on his contract (rightly so one good season and al that) so he excerised his right to go elsewhere. I don’t him right or wrong on that count. His choice – c’est la vie as they say

  36. rob green

i have heard it all now adebayor was always offside because of song and denilson

so why wasnt any other striker always offside as much as him!?!?

  37. David

    Rob

B’cuz he was the lone striker in the 4-5-1 when everybody else sat in midfield playing crab football. Which Arsenal striker did you see anywhere near the 18 yard box?

Why are we talking like we’ve forgotten what last season was all about?

  38. sarge

By definition yes. Again a spurious argument. Your accusation was that Ade engendered hatred and that you prefer a ‘lucky goal scorer’ in your side. I argued otherwise and why Ade countered my personal principles of what a professional footballer should be. I prefer that you stick to the argument in hand and not deviate on another pointless course to prove an otherwise fundamentally flawed argument. BTW I’m off. I have a pint waiting.

Here’s to another 3 points tomorrow and another nail in that descipable nerk Hughe’s managerial coffin.

David there’s always a honeymoon period when a player goes to a new club, that player is always going to apply himself, everything is new, gotta try hard to adapt to a new team and win a regular place, win over the fans etc. The wages have nothing to do with anything, it remains to be seen how ade’s attitude is once he’s been at city for a while, and once he’s made it at City, which he hasn’t done yet, obviously

The Jewish man replied: ‘I have no water. Would you like to buy a tie? They are only US$5 ….’

The Taliban shouted: ‘Idiot! I do not need an over-priced tie. I need water! I should kill you, but I must find water first!’

‘OK,’ said the old Jewish man, ‘it does not matter that you do not want to buy a tie and that you hate me.

MANCHESTER — Manchester City manager Mark Hughes has taunted Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger by claiming the Gunners aren’t tough enough to end their trophy drought.
Hughes’s team have made an impressive start to the season after a massive spending spree that included signing Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor and Ivory Coast defender Kolo Toure from Arsenal.
Adebayor and Toure will face their former team on Saturday as Arsenal visit Eastlands for the weekend’s most intriguing Premier League fixture.
Wenger, whose side have gone four years without silverware, once accused Hughes of rearing a side that “had an appetite for violence” when the Welshman was boss at Blackburn.
Yet City have been widely tipped to replace Arsenal in the top four this season and Hughes is convinced that, unlike the north Londoners, his side have the right combination of steel and skill.
“Arsene has a fantastic philosophy. Everybody in football appreciates it. We are trying to reach the heights he has reached,” Hughes said.
“I know we have the capability to play football as expansive and creative as Arsenal. But you can’t be successful if you just have that kind of player.
“Last season was an illustration. At times we played fantastic flowing, open football. But against certain other types of teams we could not compete.
“I have done OK against Arsene’s teams in the past. I know what they enjoy and what they don’t. We will try and exploit that.”
City paid a total of 40 million pounds to land Adebayor and Toure in the close-season and Hughes believes the deals underlined his club’s increased profile and status.
“They are looking forward to this game with relish,” Hughes added. “They are both really enjoying being a big part of what is happening here.
“There is a lot of focus on us and they want to show what they are capable of.
“They have a huge amount of respect for Arsenal and were a big part of their success there.
“Now they want to show even when you leave one of the top four it is not a downward step when you come to a club like Manchester City.”

  50. Ojaimo

I will go with David in this argument in defense of Adebayor. I loved him while he was here with us and didn’t want him sold without adequate replacement. That he was not loved by most fans is not a hidden truth, that he stopped working hard immediately he got his wage trebled is a bandwagon belief. If Ade were to be with us now in a 4-3-3 formation playing RVP’s role, he may have scored more goals with the supplies that cesc and Arshavin provides. This was proved when Flamini, Hleb and Cesc were providing for him in a 4-4-2 formation. Arsene saw that 4-5-1 weren’t working and still persists with it and the striker’s impact diminished. Whether he has attitude problem, is anybody’s opinion. If you score 30+ goals, big clubs must come for you, (Ronaldo, Torres etc.)

  51. Ojaimo

hmmm. Yahoo sports reports that Arsene had confirmed that Djourou will be out for six to eight months (in fact for the rest of the season), so that leaves the once ‘unwanted’ Senderos and FAN’s biggest hater fishhead as defensive backups. Bright days ahead Arsene eeh!. Let’s see how far we will cope with this tiny squad before Jan.

  52. A

ojaimo ade couldn’t play vp’s role – his current central role is designed for him to drop deep and be the provider, the creator. One big reason ade was sold is because he simply doesn’t have the footballing ability to play that role.

JD being out could fast track Bartley into the reckoning, i hope so anyways, or coquelin in at DM and song into defence! It’ll be interesting to see what happens if there are injuries, i’m happy enough with senderos, but the prospect of silvestre playing really scares me!

  53. Stu

I also agree that Ades new wages didnt stop him working. It happened way before that.

I know Ethan is biased against Ade..rightly so ;) … but he has a stat on Ade. Something like 19 goals up to xmas and 5 in the league after that.

So thats proof in itself that money didnt change him. He thought he had made it way before getting those high wages. ;)

  54. A

yeah i agree stu – money had nothing to do with ade’s attitude. It was a result of the attitude rather than the attitude being a result of the money. Ade decided he was the bollocks, therefore he decided he deserved lots of money, the money wouldn’t affect his performances

  55. Stu

And to saw Ade suffered because of the 4-5-1 is way off the mark imo.

We played essentially that formation during his hot streak. With VP injured for most of the season and then Rosicky we used to have Hleb behind Ade, Eboue left and sometimes Eduardo at left midfield (probably because Wenger never plays anyone in their best position from the off). And then Theo got games towards the end of the season.

Ade didnt suffer because of the formations…he suffered because he was missing a midfield that would guarentee 20 goals for any average starting striker.

I cant agree with anyone who thinks otherwise. Rosicky, Cesc and Hleb with Flamini would provide for any striker to grap a high amount of goals. Without them he showed his true shit colours once he dropped his workrate. IN MY OPINION.

  56. David

“Naldo is a great athlete and could do well at the right club. Unfortunately he doesn’t fit the direction we’re planning to move in any longer.
“We expect to move him for somewhere in the region of €10 million, and English side Arsenal is, as of now, the most likely destination.”
However, Naldo has now pledged his allegiance to the Bremen cause by signing an extended deal.
“Everything is going well for me with Werder,” he said.
“Furthermore, my family and I are very settled in Bremen.”

  57. A

David that’s an old story, it was his agent just trying to get him an improved contract, those quotes are from the early summer, the new contract was a couple of days ago.

  58. Stu

Bremen play very attacking football, like we do, and tey finished midtable last season and concededa shit load of goals.

If their manager says he doesnt fit in with them then he certainly doesnt fit in with us. I hope we dont sign him especially for 10m…but anything is better than Silvestre….who A promised me wouldnt ever play. Still feeling confident about that A.

  59. David

    Oh Sry A

i didnt know that…you know there is no point in fighting it we might as well just let it happn. The sooner Francis Cocq stars playing first team football the better…and put Song at CB…as you said. But forgive me if i am wrong but isnt Song slow?

  60. A

Ha yeah relatively Stu! Senderos will play ahead of him, hopefully Bartley too, Song. I still have faith that he won’t get any games!

  61. David

Song Lazy? heh..im beggining to see a pattern here…anyways Song is slow…and you cant just see that red card coming when he’s caught out in a high line.

  62. A

David I wouldn’t say that slow, I reckon he’d be above average for a centre back, but for a centre mid he’s probably slightly below average.

Coquelin can destroy West Brom then take it from there, the sky’s the limit for him!

  63. Stu

David, i meant an average footballer would score a shedload with that service. Not directly that Ade was average. He was above average…just about ;)

  64. David

Was it West Brom or Wigan? I agree Cocq is a special talent….but i would send him out on loan now so he can get some first team football…also Song at CB is a disaster waiting to happn. I think he’s been very lucky in the past imo.

  65. Stu

A, dont kid yourself. You know just as well as i do…and everyone else does, that Silvestre will play ahead of those kids and maybe the other 2. Wenger is an idiot like that.

  66. Stu

1 stand out performance that Song had at CB was the fenerbache game for me. He was fucking woeful in that game. But in fairness he was next to Silvestre. They were both amazingly shit in that game.
I was suprised that neither of them were sent off or we didnt concede more goals.

  67. Stu

Yeah he scored a volley from about 6 yards out. Awful defending from both teams on the night. We just happened not to have the shittest forwards.

  68. Mayank

    So proper football returns tomorrow…
We’ve got our compulsory intl. break injury
Looking forward to us convincingly beating City.

  69. David

Yeah he scored and i believe Silveste had an Own Goal in that game….very masterfully done by Wenger….I dnt rate Song at Cb at all…he’s not quick and he’s not that particularly tall either….but he wont lose alot of 50-50 challenges. Hopefully those bigoted dogs wouldnt call penalty’s left and right.

  70. Stu

I rate Song as a better defender than both Silvestre and JD. He may not be the tallest but he has a mighty leap on him. I wouldnt be concerned in the least if he had to play in defence.

  71. Ray in SF

I remember a stat that Ade converted 1 in 6 chances.

Probably not good enough to be considered as highly as he is by some.

Lazy? Don’t know for sure, but I remember thinking that he wasn’t as involved in games as he should have been…the Villareal goal was his only contribution to that game.

  72. Coadsi

Choy that would be nice, i think he is a good player. so i guess apart from the obvious as it relates to us, tomorrow we also cheer stoke and burnley on with manure and spuds 0-0?

  73. choy

TBH.. i see spuds drawing with the manc’s
Pool hammering burnley and chavs just about winning stoke,

but yes in an ideal world draws all round with a couple of reds would be fantastic.

  74. A

to be fair i think song could be a much better defender than jd, just because his reading of the game seems much much better to me, and he’s also stronger in the tackle. In the couple of times they’ve played together at the back I’ve been more impressed with Song than JD. Both give away silly fouls, but Song’s are in the middle of the pitch, whereas JD does it around the box more and we’ve conceded goals from it as a result, though Song might do the same closer to goal if playing centre back regularly. JD is quicker and taller, but I really dunno if he has the speed of thought or reading of the game to become a regular for a top team.

I’d absolutely love us to sign Alex, no way Chelsea will let him leave though, especially with the transfer embargo!!

  75. David

    A,

I think if JD got as many games as Song did his reading of the game is bound to improve…lets not forget juss how ridiculous Song was when he started.

  76. A

Perhaps David, though Song seemed to improve every game he played, JD still started a good 20 games last season, and didn’t seem to improve to me at all, though he was never as bad as Song was to start with obviously!

  77. David

Au de contraire….contrary to popular belief JD displaced Kolo at one point this one when he was getting the 20 games u speak off…most of them were sub appearances tho…no in the starting line up and he kept coming up with Strong perfermances…really when he plays apart from the bad fouls outside the box you cant really fault him for much?

  78. A

David generally my view of JD is that he makes at least one potentially goal-conceding mistake a game, but the other 88/89 minutes he’s close to faultless. He always does a minimum of one thing a game that could cost us though, be it a lack of concentration, slow reaction, misplaced pass/back pass, clumsy foul or handball in or around the box, he’s got it all in his locker! He made 23 starts in all comps last season, which is a fair few, 13 league starts, so he started just over one in every 3 games in the league, more than i thought.

He does look exception for 88/89 minutes of every game, but I didn’t see any improvement in his performances comparing those at the very start of last season, and at the end. If he can get rid of the mistakes he could be a very good defender, but I’m very pessimistic about whether he has it in him to really have that focus and consistency for 90 minutes.

  79. Stu

Wasnt Toure injured and that was why JD got his chance? ThenToure came back and JD was dropped. Seems to be a trend with Toure. Glad he is gone now.

Song is imo a smarter defender. I mean better positioning, picks his tackles better (but not all the time) and obviously…reads the game better.

Height and speed isnt everything. Vermaelen is small but great in the air. Richards is fast but still shit.

  80. David

Yea JD is error prone….i put that down as he being young? Richards is fast and strong but somehow with the Shitty bigspending revolution going on he keeps his Starting XI place…and I believe Arsene was in for him at some point?

Even Arsene said that defenders arent really there till they are in their late 20′s i believe something like that…obviously Vermalean is the exception to the rule…i hope we;ve found a defensive Lionel Messi. We might just very well have found one. But Song in CB when he picks up a yellow card a game is worrying i mean if the game is very open and we get on the backfoot in a counter attack id have JD over Song everyday.

  81. A

Yeah David, I certainly wouldn’t write off JD yet, he’s certainly young enough to improve a great deal. He certainly has potential, but I see more of Bramble than Rio in him at that sort of age.

Song picks up more yellows than JD – but all DMs pick up more yellows than centre backs, it’s a positional requirement! He doesn’t pick up a yellow a game though!

In a counter attack i’d have JD over song, because he’s quicker, but that’s the only situation i’d prefer him, and overall I’d have Song over JD everytime. Obviously way too early to write JD off, but it’s very unfortunate for him this injury, it could really stunt his development.

  82. A

Richards lost his place in the City central defence to Onuha! He was absolutely embarrassing there the last 18 months, which is why he had to be moved to right back. He’s a decent enough right back, because of his pace and power, but really doesn’t have it psychologically to play centre back anymore.

I think Wenger was interested a few years ago when he just broke through, and the press have just regurgitated the interest. Rumours were that city were offering richards around to anyone who’d take him in the summer but no takers and he didn’t want to leave

  83. Stu

Well if Wenger said that then why does he continue to buy young defenders when he knows that they wont be at their peak for a good 10 or so years. Its the same with goalkeepers. Why does he buy 15 and 16 year olds. Its pointless imo.

  84. A

how’s it pointless stu?! They aren’t being bought for the immediate future, they’re to maintain the club in the long run, and cost very little money. Only bought one keeper, and he’s meant to be pretty special!

David yeah both of them are out I think, Theo isn’t injured but isn’t match fit yet, Wenger didn’t mention Vela in yesterday’s press conference.

  85. David

Its illogical Stu. But alot of the things Arsene does is Illogical. Arshavin in the FA cup semi final…No substitutes at half time or within an hour when clearly it hadnt been working.

  86. A

There’s an easy logical explanation behind all that David, so you can’t call it illogical!

If we were spending all the money on kids that was needed in the first team then it would be illogical, but the youth players pay for themselves, each batch of kids brings in more money from the sales of the ones who don’t make it than they cost to acquire.

  87. David

However Cost effective young kids are A, they are often times more than not inconsistent on the pitch we’ve known that as a fact for 5 years. Which is one of the reason why you buy ready made players…how would they be ready made? Either we buy them or we wait and suffer till the kids live up to their potential. Its still 5 years and counting…there is no doubt that the talent is there and it is often embarrassingly outrageous but as far as defensively how many of them would be there to be content to want to play reserve football and be out on loan indefinately?

  88. A

True David, but with our funds we have to choose between buying top quality young players, who could turn into the top players in the world, or buy ready made good but not great players, who are at a level now where they’re consistently good, but will never ever be on the same level as the top players in the world.

I’d always prefer us to go with young players and take the risk in the hope that they’ll become the next messi, or vieira, than make do with the likes of kranjcar or barry, who will never be top top quality

  89. David

We’ve got it all wrong A,

After the invisible season we shouldve been looking for the CL trophy after that.

We make more money by winning things…which often makes me wonder after that season was it only Van P that we bought? O yea thats right we built a new stadium sry.

  90. Dutchman

I saw a comment hours ago about fabregas(that he will leave). Yes, maybe but first, he says a lot that he will win things with arsenal and that he loves London. But if he will leave,i think we have the right players to do that fabregas roll. Wenger can buy someone(we have much money from fabregas sale, adebayors sale and kolo sale) Wenger HAS MONEY!!
Or wilshere, merida or ramsey steps up(i think that this midfield our future is).

  91. Alex

Do you lot know that Fran Merida, Bartley, G.Hoyte and Rhys Murphy have all been called upto the U20 World Cup which starts on the 24 September?? Means they will miss the WBA game.

  92. finestcuts

Citeh? Who are they? Just a bankrolled version of Accrington Stanley! Adebayor admits the pressure of being an Arsenal player got to him, so he wanted to leave the team as quickly as possible as well as get a pay rise…..but that was secondary you see…..the main thing is, Man City fans give him no pressure (he has scored 3 in 3 league games, we had our Adebyaor glory days, lets see if he manages to keep it up) and worship him. Why didn’t you all worship Adebayor??? Ffs he might have scored a few more goals if you did.

We are the team best equipped to stop Adebayor and his easy to imbalance ego. Toure had enough of the Arsenal pressure as well, he knew what a challenge it was to keep his place as a central defender at Arsenal, so he decided to up sticks. Just like Wenger, I don’t wish any ex-Arsenal player bad luck, but I always wish Arsenal’s luck to be better. We want to put things right against Citeh for last years’ debacle, Mark Hughes might be getting a bit smug about what a tough guy he is and how he gives his team this kind of model to look up to whereas Wenger focuses on tactical play and technical excellence, the soft skills as Sam Allardyce would say, but we have the gameplan and technical ability to completely eradicate the teams’ financial value from the equation, because if we play better football and we win, City’s spending looks incompetent and irrelevant. Therefore lets show this team which was neither built by the sharp acumen of their manager nor by their own past successes that they’re just another team to be beaten by the Arsenal

  93. raynor73

I reckon when Cesc goes he’ll have groomed Nasri for the role. He looks great going forward, can beat people. Now if AW can just teach him how to play the killer ball, Nasri can be as great if not better than our little spaniard…

  94. A

I’d be surprised if Bartley wasn’t withdrawn from the squad, or joined it after the West Brom game. Be very surprised if Merida went to the tournament as well unless we have a totally fully fit squad as well.

Hoyte I’m not fussed about, and Murphy is a bit away from the team currently, but the other two would be nailed on to start against West Brom, and Merida is in the first team squad. I guess it could be a centre back partnership of Senderos and Silvestre, or perhaps it would just be Ayling who played, though he’s a fair way away from the first team, and a level below Bartley

  95. A

raynor I can’t see Cesc leaving for at least two seasons, so Nasri and Cesc will play together. I reckon it’ll be Ramsey who takes Cesc’s role playing with Nasri, when Cesc eventually heads off.

  96. Zorr0

Evening A. You good? See you and David are at it again, lol!

I think we will be lucky to see Cesc here for 11/12 season, unless AW turns things around big style!

  97. A

Howdy zorro, yeah im ok cheers, yourself??

I’m just eager for kick off to come about and our smashing of city (hopefully!)

Yeah 11/12 i’d see as a potential cesc departure date, though i’m not sure it’ll depend on our success. I expect us to win the league this season, beating the also-rans more consistently than the other big boys, whilst fairing pretty poorly against the top four, and not doing too well in the champs league either, because of youth, making silly mistakes etc.

Then 10/11 we’ll be that bit more mature, have that bit more belief from the league title, and blow everyone away in the champs league too, getting the double, treble, or even have the latest batch of kids make it a quadruple with the league cup!

By the end of that season Ramsey, Merida, Nasri, Cesc, Wilshere will all be seen as being on the same level anyways, constantly rotated, so Cesc having won everything possible with us may choose to return to Barca, and we may let him, or he may stay and captain the side for the rest of his career!

  98. Zorr0

Gutted mate tbh, tweaked my calf 2 weeks back in training, came back last night and it’s gone again! Problem with playing at my age, niggles take much longer to heal up. Prob have to rest it for at least another 2 weeks!

I really admire your optimism! I am a glass half full guy myself, grovers like BBK make me look like I have a full pint, but they make you look like you are supping from a Jeroboam of Cristal!

I have to say I think we may not win the title this year, as we have a thin squad, quality and experience wise, if we continue our piss poor luck with injuries.

Loving your faith though! Keep it up and if it comes true I will buy you some champers myself!

  99. Zorr0

I know the divide between the fans and the players really started widening around the late 80′s, but seriously, what kind of planet do these arseholes inhabit nowadays?

  100. A

zorro for me the most important thing when it comes to playing the little teams is an ability to break them down, and our strength in offensive areas in unrivalled in my eyes by some distance.

VP, Eduardo, Bendtner, Arshavin, Nasri, Rosicky, Cesc, Vela, Theo. Even Diaby can break down the little teams with his powerful running.

All of those players are top players who could break down any team imo, and will do. Then there are the likes of Wilshere, Ramsey and Merida who are close to having that ability. In a creative/offensive way our depth is absolutely amazing now, and that’s why I really think we’d have to have the most ridiculous bad luck for us to get so many injuries it would cripple us in the league.

Defensively we’re lacking depth though, but against anyone outside the top 4, or perhaps 5 that won’t matter, we should blow away anyone even with injuries, because we have so much depth.

Defensively though I think the depth will prevent us being competitive overall in the champs league, and in games against the big teams in the league.

Last season the league was won because Utd managed to beat all the smaller teams more than the others, and I expect us to do the same this season, even though in an individual game we may lose against the other top 4, they’ll struggle to break down anti-football types much more than us.

That’s annoying about your calf, i’ve got really annoying semi-permanent injury problems with my thigh, done 2 months plus of physio, rehab, exercises etc to try and get myself sorted for this season, then pulled it the other day trying to close the car boot with my hands full!

  101. A

lol it’s popular culture zorro, the invent of the modern day celebrity, living in a completely different world and celebrated for it

  102. Zorr0

Whoever invented OK magazine should be shot, along with the twat who dreamed up Big Brother and also Simon harry Highpants Cowell!

Sorry to hear that. Car boot related injuries are on the rise. That’s why Rosicky has to have a hatchback!

I can see where you are coming from and if we can take a lot more points from 5th down this season, and reasonably hold our own against the other top teams we stand a chance.

I just worry about our CBs and the DM when Song goes to ACN.

  103. ethangunner

    gg

If Cesc & Mozart don’t play today, then the shit will hit the fan.
