Another lie from the Arsenal over season tickets? Or just economical with the truth?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Hey when I was a kid, I was economical with the truth all the time, at least that’s what I called it, but I don’t expect it from the club I support and love.

Let me first explain that before I renewed my season tickets yet again, I wanted to be sure that the boss would be buying some much needed talent and that me like all the other season ticket holders would not be funding project youth again for yet another year, Arsene made all the right noises about how he needs to strengthen and that two or three players would be coming in. Great, at last!

People have often said why would Arsenal lie, the fact that we pay the most in world football for our tickets should at least guarantee us a few signings but no, every season we seem to sell more than we buy, but this season would be different, the boss said NO-ONE WOULD BE LEAVING and we would be buying, he said that not me.

Arsenal said there was a waiting list for tickets and that Club level was to be capped at a 1,000. So the inference is, hurry up boys or we’ll give them to someone else. In fact they said this…

…Be first in line for Club Level seats in Season 2009/2010
The Club Level Waiting List capped at 1,000 members to ensure that as many Waiting List members as possible are given the opportunity to purchase season tickets for the following season.

So you know what? With the promise of not selling, and the statement of buying in areas we need strengthening, I renewed, as did many others.

Hey, and guess what? This week I received a letter from Arsenal, from Russell Bodycomb, head of hospitality, that a small number of Club level tickets have been released and if I bought one or introduced a friend, they would give me a FREE meal in the buffet for each ticket sold. Wow, a FREE meal!

So what about the waiting list then? It would also explain the huge amount of empty seats I see at the ground, it’s not just club level, it’s all over, yet again another great example of Arsenal and the economy with the truth. Get us to sign up and then spend nothing.

Please don’t tell me we bought Vermaelen, he was out of the so called £13 million budget for transfers, Arshavin was out of last seasons Hleb money and since then we sold Kolo and Adebayor.

Arsene said he would only buy if the player he bought was better than what we have, so in that case, by definition, we must have the best players in the world then.

Enough said, I just wanted to share that latest little fib with you all.

Yes I know we have had a great start, but one swallow doesn’t make a summer, and yes 4-3-3 is proving a big hit, so why didn’t he think of that one last year, we had over 60 games to try it.

Anyway I move on, I mentioned Faye White yesterday and saying how she broke her jaw against Holland, my mistake, it was against Finland, however the final starts tonight against Germany at 5pm on BBC2, the Germans have already booked their winners party, I hope you all join me in watching and cheering the girls on to victory.

Cesc scored yesterday and Andre had a blinder, no one from Arsenal played for England so I have no idea what happened in that game, save Eduardo scored, but Robin had a nice little square up with manc thug Darren Fletcher, he was probably telling him he wasn’t going to South Africa, ha, ha! Justice for our little Croatian done in Scotland.

Tomas Rosicky joined us in 2006, since he joined he has played a massive 44 games for us, that’s 5 less than Denilson played last season, however you’ll be pleased to know Tomas managed to play an hour for the Czech national side last night in their game against San Marino, now I expect to see Tomas affording the club that have paid his wages for the last 3 years the same respect. I expect to see Tomas starting against Man City.

That’s about it today, not a bitch fest, but just another example of the fans being deceived by the club we all love, but we’ll keep paying because it’s our team, it’s just a shame they feel the need to keep having us over. Remember last season? We just asked for clarity and honesty, ho, hum.

Have a great day Grovers, I’m in and out and Pedro’s off to some concert, so if you’re new please be patient, I’ll get to you, I promise.

“I personally don’t think that Adebayor was obsessed by money,” he said.

“I must say that to be fair to him, and we can deal with that. We have a very fair financial potential.

“If you consider the Premier League you cannot say we are one of the bottom clubs financially.”

Last i checked Arsenal were a BIG club..why does Wenger talk as if we are some sort of glorified Youth Academy.

    Geoff Says:

Wenger is a great, great coach, the football his teams play is awesome.

He is however a poor manager. In my humble opinion.
    ———————————-
totally agree with the verdict .. 110%!!!!!!!!
unless the board are not letting him use the cash .

but thats when as a manager you put your foot down and say you tight wankers wont give me any cash 4 transfers, so ill use the funds i make on player sales ..

so now either way wenger is to blame NOW !..
wenger is delusional enough to think we will win the league ???..

against a team like the chev’s , or man u

    ballack – anelka – deco – essien – drogba ..
and the list goes on …in 1 team !

how in your right mind can you get one over on a team like that on a constant basis without bringing in fresh faces???.

ludicrous! , mark my words for the slow learners out there , it will be interesting to hear your excuses come the end of the season ..

i for 1 hope the russian takes over , and tells wenger to sell off the shit and buy some quality ..

because we are heading for no luck on the EPL or C.L front for another season ..
    FUCKIN DOOMED :)

i dont even rate the C.C or F.A , whilst its nice to win SOMETHING …
it really proves FUCK ALL !

no doubt wenger will field his young guns and give us 5 minutes of glory talk about our 2nd team beating Bolton in a pre-lim round .

  3. David

Yes Bendy has been on fire for the Dane’s hopefully it translates to Arsenal i dont care if it was a lucky goal cuz it certainly looked like it…Minute 86 of that clip was another incredibly miss to his repertoire and i think he had another howler in the 69th…to be fair it was a scrappy game.

  4. A

how was it a lucky goal David?! Great header, realised the keeper was coming out and directed it superbly! Clutching at straws trying to make out it was pants, or that any of those misses were bad!

In the missing sitters stakes Ade is ahead of Bendy this season by a mile, I can’t think of a single total sitter Bendtner’s missed, but Ade’s also scored goals, which Bendy hasn’t

  5. David

Funny I was thinking you were clutching at straws yourself. Very luck goal…the Boy wasnt even looking at the keeper or the goal he had his eyes on the ball throughout. You can rationalize it however you want.

Im not getting suckered into the Ade/Bendy debate again. Just look at who has the scoring records ok? Keep hoping that Bendy lives up to half Ade has achieved.

  6. ReVELAtion

Evening all.. What a loo la that arshavin has been injured!! Why play him in a semi-meaningless game against wales when he was already carrying a knock. The fact that Arshavin also knew that and played anyway is a smack in the face to the people who pay his wages.. He isn’t exactly doing himself any favours at the moment IMO.. Looks lazy (regardless of that bullox some go on about how he will on always be on the periphery of games) and unfit.. If I was Arsene I’d have the right humph…

Feel sorry for the English ladies tonight aswell.. Germany have won 4 tournaments on the bounce and england just were beaten by the better team.. 6-2 was harsh, but gosh aren’t ladies shite in goal!

In regards to the line up this weekend, it throws up alot of problems.. Nasri is out and Song probably won’t play due to the travelling back from Africa.. Rosicky is not ready to start such a game and those who think he might are deluding themselves… Theo will make the bench at best.. Van Persie is touch and go I think and has played alot of football already. I know it’s early in the season but he’s made of glass..

    Back 5

    Denilson

    Cesc Diaby

    Bendtner Van Persie Eduardo

If Van persie is rested, Eboue will start on the right and bendtner will play upfront… The more I think about it now the more I can’t disagree with the general concencous about signings.. Come January we will just be papering over the cracks of an already brittle squad.

  7. A

Come on David, you must have played football before, not a single doubt about that being lucky, look at the way he headed it, the way he moved his head – it was a superbly directed header!

Ade’s achieved nothing thus far in his career, neither of them have…. I do think Bendy will go on to have a much better career, but only time will tell that, Ade had certainly started on fire at city!

  8. A

Reva theo isn’t in the squad. I agree with that team, reckon VP will be fine, hopefully anyways. Song might play though, there won’t be any jet lag as Cameroon is in the same time zone as us aren’t they? And the game was played pretty early in the day, isn’t the same as those going to South America or different parts of Africa

  9. ReVELAtion

Evening Dave ;) That last comment about bendtner not living upto half of what ade’s done isn’t doing you any favours :P :

But you already knew that :D

  10. A

Possibly in the squad David, Wenger said he’ll decide when he sees what condition he’s in tomorrow whether he’ll be involved in the squad, I’d be very surprised if he was thrown straight into the starting line up, though it would be awesome!

    ——–Cesc–Song——–

    Bendtner–Rosicky–Eduardo

    ————VP————

    That team would destroy city

  11. David

Cant Disagree with Anyone on that list A,

Except ofcoarse for one person you can prob guess who.

    Yea Rev

We were having that discussion about the top man in a 4-3-3.

  12. ReVELAtion

David you cheeky fecker! I just read your comment.. And you refer to a 4-5-1.. I’m talking 4-3-3 and you mention bentdner in a 4-5-1… Just to enlighten me with your view again that you don’t rate bendtner :)

Got to give you your dues though… Your view on him isn’t going to change anytime soon even he scores a hat trick against the spuds down the lane.

  13. David

The only way Bendy can work on the right is if we have someone who can cross on the left (*cough* clichy) so there can be a deadly cross at the far right post….but it doesnt happn like that…Bendy is the one doing the crossing its rather odd.

  14. David

I knew you were going to say that Rev…but tell me the difference between a lone striker in a 4-5-1 and a lone striker in a 4-3-3.

Maybe my football education is a bit poor. :D

  15. rtist

off the subject(s)..but did anyone watch the Mexico v Honduras match?..penalty to Mexico: Mexican went down having been shot at point blank range from the stands apparently…followed by a goal to Mexico: Blanco the recipient. At @ the 85th minute the same Snr. Blanco (approximately 106 years old)went down around the center of the pitch – no one within 6 miles of him, mind you – and lay on the pitch receiving “medical” attention for 5-6 minutes. He was stretchered off the pitch and when placed on the ground with infinite care because of dire medical conditions, he jumped to his feet and screamed to re-enter the match. The Ref allowed him straight back on..and gave a total of 5 minutes injury time..that included the original 3 minutes of injury time..ummmm, I will only say that should Mexico make it to S. Africa, it will be refreshing to see such an example of professionalism and dedication on display for all the world to enjoy..

  16. ReVELAtion

The loan striker in a 4-5-1 is focal point that holds the ball up and scored header.. Something Bendtner should be good at, but obiously wasn’t that day.. A 4-3-3 allows his to drop deep and bring the other forwards into play… Hang on… You’re not sucking me in.. I’ll just agree with you for arguements sake and say their isn’t that much difference if you’re shite ;)

  17. David

    rtist

hahha…oh dont get me started on South American Football. Is it a coincidence that the best divers in the world are South American? No offence.

Tut Tut Rev all Arsenal players are World Class…I mean Wenger didnt buy Chamakh (yet) because there are no other players out there that are better than Arsenal players! FACT!

  18. Keyser

Anyone see Bendtner’s goal the other day, the looping lob header once he knew the goalie was coming off the line was sheer genius, he basically did what Bergkamp used to do with delicate chips, with his head, it’s using his head on almost every level you can, he’s going to be awesome like Ebway.

  19. Honest Bill

We should definitely buy Balotelli because, as we all know, Fifa 09 is an accurate representation of real life, and if we buy him he will definitely score around 60 goals in his first season with us.

  20. Keyser

Yeah it used to be Pro Evo, but it seems to have gone a bit downhill in the last couple of years, though I still prefer it out of sheer loyalty because I’ve been playing it since the days of Winning 11.

Also for a more rounded footballing knowledge you should always buy the latest Championship Manager, I’ve mostly been playing Resident Evil the past few days, it helps with my sinuses.

  21. gazzap

Dont know if anyone else has seen but SSN are reporting that its very unlikely that Fabregas will play against Man City. I assume this came from today’s press conference.

They dont say he is injured just that he has played enough games considering he is coming back from injury. so that would mean either Eboue but more probably Diaby will play in midfield. Song and Denilson will play.

Its not exactly a top class midfield. we are missing our classy players like cesc, ros, Arsh and Nasri.

  22. rtist

David: no offense taken..Final score: Mexico 1 Honduras 0.
The National coach for Mexico, one Snr. Aguirre was recently penalized for two int’l matches: why? Apparently, when an opposition player (from Haiti, I believe) attempted to chase down a ball near Snr. Aguirre, this brain surgeon (Snr. Aguirre) kicked the player from Haiti…in the balls..! Yes, it was filmed and Snr. Aguirre was unabashed when questioned about the incident..”just a little carried away” was the response from Snr. Aguirre. He is most recently considered the finest coach Mexico has ever had…and is embraced for his efforts as coach and sometimes
    nutter/player.

  23. A

Gazzap if that’s what sky sports are reporting then they’re getting a bit ahead of themselves.

In the press conference Wenger didn’t mention any potential injury for Cesc, but just said that he wouldn’t know the condition that most of the players are in returning from the internationals, and won’t until tomorrow as Cesc and others havn’t returned yet. I’d be surprised if Cesc didn’t play

  24. gazzap

I thought that as well but SSN are definitely saying its unlikely Cesc will play, but this is not due to any new injury. I am with you, I dont necessarily believe it, and hopefully cesc will play, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he were ‘rested’ if he feels tired.

  25. A

I dunno gazzap, what with playing liege in midweek, and wigan at home next saturday, most likely with rosicky and theo fit to start, i reckon we’ll start him in the biggun on sat, and if needs be make do without him to give him a rest afterwards.

I’m sure it isn’t like Arshavin, because if he had the niggle before international duty, he would have aggravated it as a sub in their first game, and not played the second, rather than starting.

I reckon it’s just Sky trying to make things sound as bad as possible for us, as per usual!

  26. A

HB I hope you mean Football Manager rather than Championship Manager – CM sucks!

I’m a pro evo man, not just for loyalty, it’s still a good bit better imo but fifa is certainly catching up

  27. David

there’s no difference between Fifa 09 and Pro Evo imo…there are very similar..i Never liked Pro Evo because the ball control looked a bit stick man like imo.

  28. bk

I can’t watch Dunga’s Brazil without cursing the Gunners ineptitude and the flagrant false economy of our inflexible wage policy towards players over 30. William Gallas aside, our current squad is almost totally devoid of characters of Gilberto’s “been there, done that” pedigree, who have the experience and the stature to provide our young side with more authority, merely by their presence alone.

  29. Honest Bill

I always liked Pro Evo better, but with the lastest installments, i have to say that Fifa is better. The players on Pro Evo are just so stupid and unresponsive, and the other players have very little AI. But previously Pro Evo was leagues ahead of FIfa.

Also Keyser, How does Res Evil help your sinuses?

  30. bk

Ljunberg was shit when he left, gilberto was still class and was only kept out by flaminis excellent performances .And for me inteligence is worth 5 yards especially in defence

  31. A

i’d have to disagree bk, in gilbo’s last season at the club, everytime i saw his name on the team sheet i had that pang of fear in the pit of my stomach, the same feeling i had with song at the start of last season, he was completely done, and that was over 2 years ago!!

  32. A

depends on the circumstances bk, very happy for gallas to stay around, we’ve not lost any over 30s i would have preferred to have kept in the circumstances. Pires would have been nice, but we couldn’t guarantee him first team football and i wouldn’t have wanted him to have more than a 1 year contract, we kept Bergkamp for a bit longer than i would have done though.

  33. bk

So gallas has a blinding season and gets offered a 1 year contract and fucks off, right thing to do? ya couldnt believe pires was let go,the way we get injurys i dont thing he would have had to worry about 1st team football.
for me lack of experince is in line with lack of sucsess

  34. A

or we sign them on a two year contract, and they deteriorate really quickly, but remain on big wages taking funds away that are needed for new signings….

It works both ways, if Gallas wanted to stay he’d sign a new contract at the end of the year, if he wanted to leave then I wouldn’t want an unhappy player around anyways….

I think too much has been made of the lack of experience, how much experience did Vieira, Petit, Pires, Ljungbery, Henry, Lauren, Cole, Kolo have of playing at the highest level when we were unstoppable?

It has affected us undeniably in previous seasons, but the experience has been present in the first team, it’s just been unfortunate that all the players who seem to have been constantly injured are the most experienced players!

  35. bk

its a lot cheaper than buying someone to replace them? unless they come from the youth set up,of which have no experience.i dont know but you probably do what was the average age of the 98,02,04 teams?

  36. bk

or we sign them on a two year contract, and they deteriorate really quickly, but remain on big wages taking funds away that are needed for new signings….

What Signings would they be,we got 40 Million and didnt spend a penny of it. that would pay a lot of 2 year contracts

    other than cesc , who has scored 1 ? or 2 ?

who the hell will score the goals ?
    so far
    nik b 0
    rvp 0
    rosicky 0

    dudu 1 in 4 games .

    destroy ?

  39. ethangunner

    bk me too

have rvp coming in from the right ..dudu up front taking the chances …
but the 1st real 2 tests of the season i think we will fail both …

too many injuries , and you just know ade (although he couldn’t score for us )
he will against us .. or tevez or robinho
    or santa cruz …

If eduardo doesnt have a blinder we are baked !

  40. bk

With only a one-year contract extension on offer to the over 30s at the Arsenal and with the Brazilian having spent a frustrating season confined to the bench by Flamini’s fine form, you can’t blame Gilberto for accepting the guarantee of three more years of financial security, playing in sunny Greece. However I don’t imagine it would have taken too much to persuade him to stay and I’m certain it would’ve worked out a lot cheaper than the cost of trying to replace him.

I suppose at the time, the club didn’t expect to lose Flamini. Yet ultimately, until such time as the Arsenal adopt a less rigid approach to the over 30s and are prepared to reward our senior statesman, by at least matching the sort of offer they can achieve elsewhere, the club will continue to struggle to cling on to our most experienced players and we are destined to remain a relatively inexperienced side.

  41. ethangunner

    bk

i agree flamini definitely played better that season , but without confirmation that flamini
would stay wenger should have never let bert go .

he might of been getting on , but at least you didnt lose much playing him in the middle ..
and im sure if he got his regular spot back he would have given 100% for us , and found some form along the way …

just another wenger fuck up to stunt the teams
    progression ..

his decision making has been poor really for the past few seasons now ..

  42. David

“Naldo is a great athlete and could do well at the right club. Unfortunately he doesn’t fit the direction we’re planning to move in any longer.
“We expect to move him for somewhere in the region of €10 million, and English side Arsenal is, as of now, the most likely destination.”
However, Naldo has now pledged his allegiance to the Bremen cause by signing an extended deal.
“Everything is going well for me with Werder,” he said.
“Furthermore, my family and I are very settled in Bremen.”

    ———————

looks like we’re in for Naldo..come January. Him signing an extention only means they want top dollar from us

what a match tomorrow..cant wait for it…we wont be at our full strength to say the least..but i hope we press the city play and make them do mistakes.

    iceman

    he’d be too old in wenger’s reckoning next season,(over 30 )
and besides merida or jack / rambo are in the wings there …

you know the drill PROMOTE FROM WITHIN , fuck ! personally i cant wait to see wenger go ..

great , great coach like geoff said .. but piss poor manager when seeing the right direction to take for the club ..

he got it done cheaply sure !
for that its duly noted , but he has made
the mistake of not re-using the proceeds this season to stock up in key area’s missing some class and now he is reaping what he sews !

  45. ethangunner

    kelsey ,

I did say thats where all the money is going ,
these pricks would rather keep the square project afloat then worry about the football ..

2 units only sold .. yes that is a disaster .
once thinking he can clear 350 mil . now only break even ..

    sounds about right ..

and yes its a cover up …
said that last year about this time ..
and everyone told me we were fine ..
it hasnt got anything to do with the club ..

    sure it hasnt ;)

  46. ethangunner

    yes i did …
and declining to comment , pretty much tells you
how bad the sales figures are there ..

it also tells you that 2 sold only could NEVER keep that development afloat ..

money is being filtered into it obviously ,
i wonder how much shit would hit the fan , if the fans knew they the sales of ade and toure were poured into this side project to keep it running .

then you wonder why wenger still has his job !?

  47. ethangunner

told you those board pricks were fucking this club over !

if 2 only have sold it would be lucky at 325 thou a pop if they have raised 1 million quid !

so who has kept the development a float .i hope like fuck that they were on budget ..

    but i bet you they weren’t ..

  48. ethangunner

ive been banging on about this for the past year ,
i think ive already found the real answer …

we all knew that these muffa’s were funding club money into this project ..

who has paid for the construction loans the past 2-3 years ?

    geoff has :)

  49. finestcuts

Citeh? Who are they? Just a bankrolled version of Accrington Stanley. Adebayor admits the pressure of being an Arsenal player got to him, so he wanted to leave the team as quickly as possible as well as get a pay rise…..but that was secondary you see…..the main thing is, Man City fans give him no pressure (he has scored 3 in 3 league games, we had our Adebyaor glory days, lets see if he manages to keep it up) and worship him. Why didn’t you all worship Adebayor??? Ffs he might have scored a few more goals if you did.

We are the team best equipped to stop Adebayor and his easy to imbalance ego. Toure had enough of the Arsenal pressure as well, he knew what a challenge it was to keep his place as a central defender at Arsenal, so he decided to up sticks. Just like Wenger, I don’t wish any ex-Arsenal player bad luck, but I always wish Arsenal’s luck to be better. We want to put things right against Citeh for last years’ debacle, Mark Hughes might be getting a bit smug about what a tough guy he is and how he gives his team this kind of model to look up to whereas Wenger focuses on tactical play and technical excellence, the soft skills as Sam Allardyce would say, but we have the gameplan and technical ability to completely eradicate the teams’ financial value from the equation, because if we play better football and we win, City’s spending looks incompetent and irrelevant. Therefore lets show this team which was neither built by the sharp acumen of their manager nor by their own past successes that they’re just another team to be beaten by the Arsenal.
