Ok I thought I’d start today with some great news for England, no I don’t mean the Croatia game tonight, I can’t be arsed to watch a team that brings Beckham on for 45 second cap cameos, I mean the women, on Thursday we play Germany in the final of the ladies Euro 09. After an unfortunate start against Italy when we were down to 10 ladies, the girls have fought back valiantly and by beating Holland in the semis, they play Germany in the final, imagine, the old enemy in the final.
Ladies captain Faye White had her jaw broken and dislocated in a clash against the said Dutch, ouch, I saw the game and it was a real wack, so what does she do? She has a mask made and says she is going to lead England out, what a star, did she make the headlines in the national press today, you know like David Beckham did in Japan when he unveiled his new haircut? No, okay then did she at least make Arsenal.com? Er, no, Robin got that for talking about his favourite children’s book.
Can you imagine if it had been one of our first team (Eduardo excluded) they would have had a year off, never mind play in the next game, so Faye, I salute you, I’ll be watching on Thursday at 4.30 on BBC2 and I’ll be cheering you on.
Personally I think you’re better than Fish head and would have you in the men’s team, but that’s not my call. Good luck to the girls.
Other news is Arshavin faces Wenger’s wrath by playing for Russia tonight. Why? Blimey, I think Wenger should be more pissed off with Cesc, who missed our last game injured, yet played for Spain and Rosicky, who’s missed the last 2 years and goes off with the Czech Republic before he plays for us, good luck tonight Andre, I hope you score.
Finally, someone posted a funny clip yesterday of honest granny shagger Rooney’s greatest dives, all Wenger needs to do is put that in his bag, add it to Pedro’s dive watch and take it to the UEFA hearing and ask for those players to also get retrospective bans. Conning the ref was the charge, not diving, that also goes for corners, fake injuries, throw ons and free kicks, I bet you could get 100 examples a week in the Premier league alone, and that my friends is how Gazidas should approach it, not with lawyers, go in with a compilation and ask how many players will you ban now please.
To make sure you get your point across, get rid of your silly fake American accent and use a Scottish one, that seems to work on Platini.
Finally, Hughes has made Arsenal reject Kolo Toure captain, sucker! I always loved Kolo so I hope the travelling fans give him a big round of applause, but I hope they boo Ade for the whole game.
Have a great day Grovers.

I think it’s to accomodate Arshavin more than Walcott Reva. It’s also to get more bodies in the centre of midfield where we are a bit small. When people get fit Reva, I reckon this 4-5-1/ 4-3-3 will get the best out of most our players.
freduardo
That is the english press I’m afraid. I was hoping he scored the winner. I’m a patriotic Englishman but I can’t support that bunch of pikey cunts. terry, lampard. rooney gerrard fucking hate the cunts.
Angelos that’s being a little naive.. He could have played bendtner, wilshire, merida and eduardo on that right side..
When did eboue become a right forward? I mean he’s played at centre mid and been rubbish, left mid and got booed off, right mid and looked out of his depth in the final third.. So I guess a decent performance on the right forward posistion against a poor celtic side makes him a man that can play anywhere does it?
I Played well in goal once, doesn’t make me Lev Yashin..
Also, what does that say to the rest of the players in the squad who actually play in those sorts of posistions?
Sorry but I disagree. obviously we lost but we lost because of 2 stupid mistakes. You can’t play every game thinking we have to score at least 3 because we might giv away 2 stupid goals.
Rednose got it wrong (most mancs feel) and won.
Angelos i did say it accomodates arshavin because it allows him and van persie to be in the same starting 11 as they both can’t play through the middle in their favourite posisition in the hole… But neither can play upfront as a striker and there in lies the problem with the 4-3-3 in the first place.
ReVELAtion – So what would be the best formation, considering the players e have at our disposal ?!
goonermichael – I’d rather get it wrong and win, then right and lose.
And with our defensive record (up until recently) and almunia between the sticks we should be thinking that 1 goal is never going to be enough against top class opposition because it never is.
goonermichael – Or if Dean had reversed the penalty decisions around, or the cross by Clichy, which Ebway let run past him had fallen in front of another player.
We played well enough to win, despite having several players out, and with a midfield people on here would have scoffed at if anyone had dared to say we had a chance with it.
I think I already explained Eduardo, Wilshere’s great and all but to chuck him in an away game against Man U? I don’t know, and Merida?? Seriously?
As I said. If Eboue was Wenger’s first choice I’d be more annoyed but as it stands I think he holds Rosicky, Nasri and Walcott in higher regard.
As for the signals…nobody can really complain in the squad as long as the team is winning.
But I do agree that with a better player than Eboue we may not have needed to be in a situation of holding a 1 goal lead at Old Trafford.
Obviously but that’s down to luck sometimes.
frustrating though goonermichael. would hate to see it getting him down. especially after all he’s been through. i just hope he doesnt have to face it regularly over the course of the season at away grounds. i wonder if the way wenger handled it made it a bigger thing but that reaction tonight was way over the top. he seems like a top bloke too i cannot understand why he seems to be being singled out so
Why eboue
How about with some one who can stick the ball in the net instead of van persie we wouldn’t have to hold on to a 1 goal lead.
That’s the problem Keyser I do not know.. I’d say 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 but song or denilson with cesc in midfield doesn’t work and we need an extra body in their to make up for a lack of physical presence..
The 4-3-3 doesn’t work for the forwards we have unless you’re going to start:
Arshavin–Bendtner–Van Persie
or
Walcott-Bendtner-Vela
And i think most will agree they probably would not like to see the later…
The 4-5-1 is too defensive a formation for a team of our attacking ability and we don’t have the quality in depth to play 3 centre halves with 2 wingbacks..
Wenger has fucked up in the transfer market big style IMO..
The 4-3-3 seems to be starting to bear fruit although I am sceptical to how we can just go with it after trialing it in a handful of pre season games…
The press have never forgiven dudu for upsetting that poor taylor bloke.
Bendtner is not everyones cup of tea, but he’s the only forward we have who can start up front in the 4-3-3..
Eduardo can’t play there because he doesn’t have the frame to hold up play from central areas.. Robin is just about getting away with it, but is frustrated because he isn’t a player we can use as a battering ram nor has he the pace to pull defenders out of posisition and look for runs in behind..
Junichi Inamoto.. Remember him? Scored the winner for Japan tonight
ReVELAtion – Honestly I don’t understand some people on here, they say it’s only been 2 games, then the 3rd comes along and we lose and suddenly we should draw meaningful conclusions from it, not you, but just in general.
How fluid have our formations been over the years, players, especially up front, end up all over the place, and it’s what makes us sOo difficult to contain when we’re on form.
Van Persie, Arshavin and Bendtner have switched around pretty regularly in the games we’ve played soo far and considering the goals we’ve scored, I have no worries about our forwards.
4-3-3, though during a game it changes quite a bit seems to be the best formation to suit the majority of our players.
Vela and Walcott should benefit a fair bit from it, considering neither wants to be tracking back to help out the left back all game and we’ve got several strikers.
It also gives us the chance to put another person in midfield. Even 4-5-1, how many times did Henry switch to the left or Bergkamp drop back into midfield ? With the players we have the pace on the counter and the passing game no formation should be too defensive unless we are without the ball, where the pressing game seems to have helped.
Keyser – The players interchange alot and we all know Wenger likes his players to be flexible and both comfortable in a number of positions, not just 1… It is an important part of Wenger’s football vision and fair play to him for having an ideology for how the game should be played..
We are however, though in the results business.. And it’s 5 years and counting since we’ve had a right result.. Yes “other” clubs have gone a very long time without winning fuck all, but I don’t support them I support Arsenal and we are a top club, with an embarrasment of riches and resources compared to others..
Back on the subject.. What drives me mad is that the experiments ala diaby on the left, eboue in midfield, bentdner on the right, song at right back etc are fine if you are doing it in training and reserve games, but premiership and champions league matches?
What has actually come about from these decisions? Diaby has scored a couple with his left foot i suppose and eboue’s end product has gone from fucking dreadful to medicore…
People will analyse and scrutinise the club, tactics and players whenever things don’t quite go according to the plan in their head as if they were the arsenal manager.. And i’d rather it was done on blogs then have people venting their frustrations at players during games at the stadiums as it is counter productive…
What i will say is that it is early days and the signs are encouraging, but you’ll have to forgive my sceptisism because it’s been along time since i’ve had something to celebrate as an arsenal fan (semi finals are not something to celebrate). I don’t want to get ahead of myself 4 games in when I personally think we are still short when it comes to winning the prizes. But there is alot to be positive about, but i certainly will no utter the words “Arsene Knows” because IMO at this moment he doesn’t.
ReVELAtion – “Yes “other” clubs have gone a very long time without winning fuck all, but I don’t support them I support Arsenal and we are a top club, with an embarrasment of riches and resources compared to others..”
Exactly, as long as you remember we’re not competing with the clubs that win fuck all, we’re competing with the clubs that win things, I’m not deluded enough to think we’ve made it already, or because Arsenal have won the Cup Winner’s Cup in the past it means we’re European Giants and I hope you’re not either. We might be a top club, but we’re not THE top club.
I see where we’re going and we still haven’t quite reached it, it’s to the top, where United have been for the last 15 years, so when I analyse the last 5 years I remember the clubs that have come between us and the summits of World football.
I don’t get your point about the experiments, you’re exaggerating not unlike several others on here like to do, you say what goods come of playing those players there, but how many times would those players play there if everyone was fit ? You can’t just blame Wenger for everything that goes wrong, it’s just pointless, we’ve won two games out of 3 with Bendtner on the right, in that case does that mean it’s working by sheer weight of numbers ?!
I don’t mind people analysing things, some do so with sarcasm, others to just vent, but then they shouldn’t really get upset when others question them because their ideas of releasing frustrations are different to theirs.
I don’t utter words like ‘Arsene Knows’ freely either I just like some semblance of rational conversation, heh people on here have said they ‘know’ what type of person I am because of the things I say on here, I find that hilarious, but each to their own.
I’m not getting ahead of myself, I know there are just some things that are beyond our control at times, I wish people would remember that.
Maradona cocking up again.PLease tell me this is the last of him as coach. 1-0 down and his little pet 34 yo Veron got red-carded.
Keyser you’re making me out to be a right miserable git.. I just have reservations and if they don’t come accross eloquently or well thought out I apologise…
I am happy with the clubs stance on bringing through youth (to a point) the way we play football and the ethos is which we stand for in regards to the game and how it should be played..
The blame isn’t levelled soley at wenger if things go wrong, but he is the one held accountable by most on things that annoy many such as his transfer policy and player selection.. Surely you must understand how it drives some mad?
No one is above questioning and the point of discusion is everyone has their own ideas and thoughts based on a club they love and how they choose to express it in “different” ways.. There is no right or wrong, but there is being stubborn and often people choose not to debate their stance, but instead spill vitriol at one another if some do not agree…
The Arsene doesn’t knows part wasn’t a reference to you being an AKB. It was me simply saying that he isn’t beyond questioning and some of his decisions as of late can be called into question..
I do not interact or see these players everyday in training so I can only go on with what I see on the pitch.. It could be alot worse, but it could be a damn site better…
In terms of the current squad IMO we are constantly taking steps backwards since our last trophy and relying on unproven young players at a very high and demanding level… That is the managers fault and he can have no complaints if the squad he deems “good enough to challenge” fall short.. Challenging is being mathematically in the race for the title come may, not out of it and fourth…
In our squad the only players that have won anything of note are Gallas, Fabregas (Euros) and Arshavin (medals in Russia).. That IMO is a worry, especially if we are dow the back straight with a chance of winning the prem…
Bendtner on the right is working if you are basing it on results alone and yes like i stated before we are in the reults business.. But long term? Is that the answer or is he keeping that spot warm for
theo/rosicky? I doubt it…
It’s late and I have to work tomorrow, but it’s been a good discussion.. We can continue this another time.. Untill then.. Keep it Red & white a’ite!
ReVELAtion – Heh, what are you apologising for ? I guess I’m just a bit bored of the nagativity on here in recent weeks, plus the International break’s annoying. Actually just the same old really, heh.
This is just me venting aswell.
I can understand frustrations, angers a fleeting emotion, so I wouldn’t understand the constant vitriol some spew. I love arguing as much as anyone else, don’t feel like I’m picking on you, it’s just a discussion.
I actually welcome your thoughts some on here would just resort to abuse, heh, it’s fun at times, but after a while it’s tedious.
Thats where the beyond our control comes in for me, in your point about it being the managers fault, he can make mistakes, he can be blamed and held accountable, but then he can only control soo much of it, I feel if we take a step back, it’s to take two steps forward in the future and I can see hope still, if there wasnt I’d call for Wenger to be replaced.
Bendtner on the right could work, and it has had it’s moments, but it has been 3 games, even after 10 games, there’ll be several differeing factors to think about. Nothing is black and white.
Have a good day at work mate.
Keyser / ReVELAtion
its not about being negative , its seeing the issues for what they really are ..
so ok with our injury issues and knowing what dudu’s been thru the past year and a half , what happens if he gets injured ?!
or cesc ?
AA ?
gallas / verminator ?!
big Al ? ( maybe a blessing)
we dont go as far as some of the postivosso’s say in depth ….
im more sick of the positivity , when if you really want to chew brass tacks FUCK ALL has changed ..
ok we got rid of ade
and replaced toure ..
but please other than that for the love of god how have things changed so greatly ?
if anything getting rid of this shit shot striker has made us more shallow .
or do you like judging players like song and eboue against teams like a piss poor everton who cant even beat burnley or celtic ..
ive heard enough guff on how our bad apples have turned into apple pie this season..
its pure speculation at best ..
i did say however we would play better going forward without ade in the team , so im not surprised by anything this season ..
and wenger has made a huge blunder this transfer season by not using the money he had,
because as sure as eggs , next transfer window if players are needed we will plead poverty again ..
and i am holding wenger accountable now so long term goof balls dont tell me its hind sight !
i think a good dose of fore – sight is needed if you ask me !
history doesnt lie with the squad we have ..
just remember that when your thinking of peachy colored skies and rainbow filled mornings !

Bendtner is not everyones cup of tea, but he’s the only forward we have who can start up front in the 4-3-3.
——————
Thats where you’re wrong Rev. Bar the United game Bendy is absolute shite uptop. Ok i know i say that alot. But you dont have to take my word for it you can read the blog and match reports from when he played there alone in the 4-5-1 up top himself.
http://le-grove.co.uk/2009/04/
This is why i didnt want Wenger to Sell Ade if he wasnt going to replace him and now we looked Royally facked.
You are looking at height. I am looking at ability.
Bendy doesnt do it for me for club and country i watched all the international games and when he’s not on the floor in the 50-50 challenge he recieves the ball outwide against a smaller full back…so thinking we will play him centrally against the likes of Vidic and Terry is kidding ourselves…
Finally In his last game as the lone striker liverpool away in the 4-5-1…against Carahgher…Wenger decided to stop playing him upfront and move him out wide….
I leave you with this gem i found in Pedro’s Match report.
——————————————
Bendtner: Atrocious performance from my special friend. I think it’s unfair that he only seems to get a run out on his own up front, it can’t be good for his development can it? However, that doesn’t excuse the sloppy passing and the poor positional play. A bad day for the big Dane… 5
Any news on Injury front?????????????
Inshallah,everyones fit
I hope we win the match against city.
So tough being a relaxed fan eager to see his team perform and “enjoy” the match, when you know if your team doesnt win something this season, there is every chance your favoites players are going to leave, the club finances are going to get tighter, ticket prices are bound to go up, it will be difficult to get sponsors…. and son on.
Morning all, I think we’ll beat the mancs on Saturday, I think we’ll be up for proving Kolo and Beyonce wrong, they may have two players with something to prove, but we have 11.
http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/3383471/
Still doing his thing!!
The Iceman lives!!
Eduardo, Barbie and Cesc all netted.
Rosicky got minutes for his country.
We’re all set to make Beyonce regret he ever moved to England!!
Chamone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I just lost a comment!!
New post!
