It wasn’t a dive. Abuse? I’ve been kicked out for less and chav bullies punished at last.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Ok Let’s start with the ‘Eduardo dive’ – Well I have watched that 50 odd times and he simply didn’t dive, he went down with the momentum of his run, look again his body didn’t go up an inch, unlike Rooney’s last week and his face said it all, you clipped me and I went down, Okay, it wasn’t a penalty, but it wasn’t cheating either.

Now if that is what UEFA consider cheating and because of the Scottish influence on their committee, and anyone caught cheating will be retrospectively banned, tell me, where does that end? Because as far as I’m concerned if you kill one person, you are as much a murderer as if you kill 280.

If you cheat at golf you are a cheat, you can’t cheat a little bit, cheating is cheating, Eboue is a cheat, Eduardo played the game, get in the box and if you’re clipped, it’s a penalty, what are they going to do, give us the world cup we should have won in 1986? I spent a fortune going to Mexico and Maradona cheated England out of it and I ended up watching West Germany play the dirty Argies in the final, do I get my money back?

What pisses me off is when you see players getting throw ons that they knew weren’t theirs, do they care? Is that not cheating? Ban them then, what about when players get a throw on and nick 30 yards and take the throw on further up the pitch, isn’t that cheating? Ban them then, what about when players like Ronaldo go down clutching their leg in agony, rolling around in pain, getting straight up and scoring, like when he got that free kick against us in the ECL semi final and then scored, isn’t that cheating? Course it is. Ban him then.

See my point, you either cheat or you don’t, you can’t half cheat, ban one, ban them all.

As for the Wenger abuse at Old Trafford, I saw at least 50 Manc arseholes screaming abuse and pointing at him, the whole world did and those fuckwits were all in the posh seats, Gill sling everyone of those dirty bastards out now, you can see who they are.

I went to the first Emirates cup match, there was a big green flag with Libya written on it hanging over the stand above me, I complained and got kicked out, for what exactly? I said I objected to a terrorist flag and was told I can’t say that, so what are you saying Gill, Paedo chants are Ok at Old Trafford?

Finally onto the chavs, they seem to think they have been picked on and singled out, they are having a laugh surely! In Russia if you have money, you can do what you want, there are no rules, since Abromovich has been in town they have continually broken the tapping up rules, they started with Cashley, got their wrist slapped and then stuck two fingers up.

They felt they could do it whenever they wanted, that their bent money put them above the law, they even got pissed off when someone came along with more money and tried to buy Terry, well now they’ve been tumbled, now they can’t buy anymore titles, now they have been hoisted by their own petards.

Justice has been done.

Finally, now Wenger has spent our entire transfer budget on extra wages for the whole team instead of buying new players I hope to hell we win the league, because had we bought 2 world class players instead of improving the contracts of some pretty ordinary players, we sure as hell would have. That’s all I’m saying on that. And before anyone wants to remind me we almost beat the Mancs with a team that had an average age of 7, we didn’t, we lost again.

I really like Rosicky, I really do, but if he had a hair on his arse and any consideration to us the fans, who have stood by him through 2 years of injury, he would have declined joining up with the Czech team this week. Shame on you Tomas.

Have a great day Grovers only 8 days to go to find out if selling Ade and Kolo to improve Eboue and Denilson’s contracts was an inspired move.

why do you say he is in a downward spiral tomstoned?? going up through the england youth teams starring for all of them, he was awesome for scunthorpe in league 1 last season, and now at watford in the championship this season, I’d say he’s developing nicely.

He was being fasttracked as wilshere was 2/3 years ago, but that season he got glandular fever, he was still recovering from that last season, and this season I reckon he’ll do very well for watford and be in the first team squad next summer.

England u21 losing 1-0 to macedonia, very good goal too!

  2. A

gibbs already carrying a knock from earlier, and really really nasty challenge on him, would’ve been a leg breaker if his leg had stayed in the way, horrific challenge

  3. Gjames

You can’t call a whole nation terrorists, i’m irish and we have been branded with that brush by english people plenty of times in the past and i’d guess that plenty of fans loved all our irish players from back in the day, brady was/is a total legend!

Lets be honest, Eduardo did dive, there was no contact and those who argue that there was would have to say that it was minute if at all, and if it you received that slight of a touch to your leg while walking down the street you would not go down or even notice it for that matter.

Eduardo blatently dived and Rooney played for that penalty but only cos Almunia came ploughing out to a nothing ball with his arms flappin, at least bourc pulled his arms back well in time. blame Almunia for that one not Rooney, if it was the other way round we woludn’t even be talking about that penalty.

In sayin all that the UEFA decision is a total farce, 2 match ban for a yellow card offence and they used no video evidience to back their case up.

i am a big fan of arsenal and i totally despise diving and cheating.

Why don’t the FA and FIFA concentrate on the vile abuse that Wenger received at the ManU match and do something about it, there is plenty of video footage and you can see who is sayin/chanting those things at Wenger and get those people removed/banned from their seats and matches permanently. his treatment and opposition fans treatment of players/subs and managers is generally appaling by fans sitting behind all dugouts everywhere.

  4. rob green

I cant wait for the city game!! We need to take adebayor out of the game!! :D I hope the away fans give his some abuse!!

  5. wardo

    hi all,

been busy today……..re the diving. Can you believe that Eduardo dives (contact or no contact it was a dive) and the Sun’s headline is “CHEAT”

Rooney dives against us, and the headline in the papers is “Rooney does not dive”

    clear indication of favourtism????

  6. Rhyle

Gjames – I would never label ‘the Irish’ as terrorists and rarely do I hear of anyone doing that and when they do they’re WRONG. The IRA are terrorists.

However, Libya have in the past been considered a terrorist state because their leader is a despot and dictator. No one on here at any stage said all Libyan citizens are terrorists.

Agree that it’s strange that the FA refuses to act on the vile chants at OT despite some pretty damning media attention.

  7. A

Yeah stu, away at macedonia on a horrific pitch, euro u21 qualifier, 64th minute losing 1-0 still, game’s crying out for a jack wilshere to set it alight surely?!

  8. Stu

Gjames, i have been on here for more than a year and have never heard anyone label us Irish as terrorists? In fact i have never heard anyone say the irish are terrorists.. Where did you get that from?

  9. A

Just been appointed their club captain Stu – nowhere near arsenal class either, as well as cattermole as gambon says.

    1-1 sears

  10. gambon

    Stu,

Ive seen a lot of Ligue1 and Cana over the last few years, and was calling for us to sign him a long time before i was even on here, and i think you’ll see a good player once he’s settled.

Is he the best DM in the world? NO, but he is someone that would fit in nicely alongside Ces & Nasri, he also clears a lot of crosses into the box & slips into the 3rd CB role when required.

Never judge a new Prem player after less than 10 games, remember Henry, Bergkamp, Pires.

  12. Rohan

His passing is atrocious , gambon. But yes, it is still too early to say. But I doubt as to whether he is a better option than song currently.

  13. Dutchman

David our academy is incredible. Capello say it by himself! Wilshere, merida, sunu, bartley, afobe, freeman etc. They can all make it. You can make a starting line-up for “the future arsenal”.

  14. David

    Thank you for your email.

The club does not lie to its fans and indeed, as a public company, its finances are transparent. You will be able to examine our most recent financials when there are issued to the public pater this month.

Mr. Wenger has consistently said that he will add players only if they add quality to our squad, such as our recent high-quality acquisitions, Andrey Arshavin and Thomas Vermaelen.

We have no plans to sell any of our best players and we believe, with the support of our fans, we can build on our positive start to the season.

    Best regards

    Ivan Gazidis

  15. Geoff

That’s interesting David, so what did Wenger say last season, that Adebayor was up there as one of the best strikers in the world, so why sell him.

I think a lot of our budget was spent on Gazidas bringing in all his American mates. Well that and pay rises.

If our accounts are so transparent how comes our debt never seems to go down, even though we sell more than we buy and never spend our prize money.

Finally Arshavin cost less than Reyes and Vermaelen cost less than Henry who we bought 11 years ago, so don’t get carried away with recent acquisitions mate.

  16. Geoff

Supergunner we knew that at the end of the season before, when we held out for £32 million with Milan, we should have said you can have him for £30mil.

  17. Geoff

David, it’s even funnier when it comes from someone who’s been here 5 minutes and talks like he’s been a supporter for 30.

Shifty little bloke if you ask me.

  18. David

Im not sorry we didnt sell ade last year for 30m imo…we wouldnt have made it that far in the CL playing our crab football that said im glad both him and crab football are gone.

    Geoff

I dont understand his position at the club, I dont understand his face…and i dont understand his accent.

All the renewing of contracts and adding more bus boys to the club is a bit penny wise pound foolish imo.

  19. Stu

And suprise surprise…andy the manc Gray says nothing about the dive. All he says it that it is a clear penalty and show one shit replay to help their cause.

  20. I AM GOONER (maqitlarge)

in fact… I’d like to see how many penalties they’ev had against us at old trafford in recent years!

  21. Master B

    Back on the

“Would it be better to spend 20mil and have a better chance of winning things issue.”

A MasterCard report states that the winning club of the 2008-2009 tournament stands to make 110mil. Check out the facts box at the bootom of Pg.1
    http://www.mastercard.com/mx/wce/PDF/MC%20Heart%20of%20Sports%20Commerce_Rome%202009(27mayo2009).pdf

There is a 33% increase in prize money for 200-2010. So simple math would mean the winner stands to make 146mil.
    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/soccer/wires/08/21/2050.ap.soc.champs.league.revenue.1st.ld.writethru.0670/index.html

The next question is can Arsenal win the Champions league with an extra 20mil investment in players?

Ans. Since we have been consistently there or there abouts (Final, Quaters, Semis), Its definately worth a try.

  22. I AM GOONER (maqitlarge)

03/04 – YES (Horse Face / Keown jump (haha))
04/05 – YES( Rooney Dive, ends unbeaten run)
    05/06 – ?
    06/07 – ?
07/08 – YES (Gallas hand ball / ball to hand)
    08/09 – No 0-0
09/10 – YES (Rooney Dives again, what a hero)

    anyone recall 05-07?

  23. Master B

Numchucks(9mil would have done it), Subotic(7mil), Fazio(7mil) and we are set to go. Honestly they are all better players than our current squad backups and with Arsene’s tutorage can be great.

  24. Master B

See I believe we have a good team, but I wont but my money on some academy kid no matter how good he is making it great.

  25. Master B

As far as TV rights go, they are dependent on a clubs following. Since the CL is the most widely watched football tournament in the world after the WC, winning it should traslate into greater appeal for the Club.

Most Fans are Bandwagon fans, especially international ones (Asia, US etc) and the best way to win them over is to win the CL. Does anyone see a relationship between Chelski winning the league and seeing a greater number of kids wearing their replicas.

I mean ManUre are shit to watch compared to Arsenal, Barca, Mardrid, why do most nuetrals support them.

So if you want to capture the global market, playing pretty is not good enough, you have to win thngs.

Thats just based on facts and good business sense not just sentimet(I want us to win).

So unless we are in some great financial crisis, they way the club is being run cannot be justified. You can buy 10 great tallents and train them, there will still be 10,000 you couldnt get at the right age.

  26. shep

Lou that was the best comment i have read all week….. by the way Chelsea getting what they desrve. … Manure next. Go FIFA Go!!!!!

  27. A

Master B those are estimations before the Champs League final took place though. In the actual figures the success of teams didn’t correlate to the revenue received from UEFA….

With 32 Champions League member clubs and EUR 581.8 million in shared UEFA revenue, the organisation designates about EUR 300 million between the teams.

Given the number provided by the clubs for the 2008-09 season, Manchester United secured EUR 37.8 million and Barcelona received EUR 31 million.

Bayern Munich earned EUR 34.6 million by the quarter-final portion of the event last season, which represented the second-highest amount. They were also the only German club eligible for the knockout rounds.

Sitting in fourth place is Chelsea, who reaped in EUR 30.5 million, with Milan falling closely behind at EUR 28.5 million.

The Mastercard study takes into account increased “squad value, prize money,
sponsorship deals, television rights and growth in season ticket sales”

Squad value is very open to debate, tv rights are dependant on the country the club is from, and season ticket sales are totally club specific, it’s a very flawed study!

The point is, it’s impossible to say “if we spend £20 mil we’d get more than that back in prize money”, for many reasons. Not least that spending money doesn’t guarantee success, that would still be spending less than most we’d be attempting to beat. Then there’s the fact that revenue doesn’t exactly correlate to success even if we achieved more success!

  28. A

I’ll find the link in a bit Master B, I just copied and pasted from when I posted it earlier.

That Mastercard study is flawed for a number of reasons.

Those figures are the total revenue from UEFA, not including things like sponsorship bonuses, which would be the big differential between say winning and being runner up, but not that big

  29. Master B

Yes spending money doesnot garantee success but look what chelski did when they were spending.

If you arleady have a good team, fixing the weeknesses can only help, Squad depth is a weekness we have, it has been exposed for the last few years.

  30. Master B

look man tell you what I give up your right, project youth is great, next year is gonna be our year, our kids will be an year older and the rest of the world will stand still.

hey guys, what do you think of this frontline. Ive been trying to come up with a solid one as it pains me to see RVP play centrally still.

    http://www.thesportreview.com/tsr/2009/08/uefa-competition-revenue-manchester-united-top/

There’s one link Master B, same figures but in pounds

All of last season’s Champions League participants received over £4.5 million for making it to the group stages of the competition. Each victory then earned clubs around £514,000 and £257,000 was dished out for every draw.

The variations in revenue from the Champions League is partly down to the level of demand for TV rights in a club’s particular country.

Top 15 earners from UEFA Competitions – 2008-09

    1. Manchester United – £38,281,000
    2. Bayern Munich – £29,618,000
    3. Barcelona – £26,544,000
    4. Chelsea – £26,492,000
    5. Werder Bremen – £25,143,000
    6. Inter Milan – £24,240,000
    7. Arsenal – £22,928,000
    8. AS Roma – £22,328,000
    9. PSV Eindhoven – £21,904,000
    10. Lyon – £20,268,000
    11. Liverpool – £19,866,000
    12. Juventus – £18,950,000
    13. Villarreal – £18,523,000
    14. Real Madrid – £17,338,000
    15. Panathinaikos – £15,859,000

  33. Master B

A bra you better do a statistical study analysis of the Mastercard study carried out by a Professor Simon Chadwick of Coventry University Business School, a specialist in the field of sports business, Before you say its flawed man.

    This isnt a joke.

  34. Master B

So your saying getting to the group stages was worth 4.5 mil last year and suddenly juped to 20mil this year, like we have been hearing from everyone.

I trust a professor over a paper anyday.

  36. A

Master B it’s flawed because it claims to take into account squad value, and season ticket sales, tv rights, so it’s totally impossible to claim that whoever wins the champions league will get x pounds, as the increase in revenue is completely club specific and will differ massively, as you can see from the fact that barca won, but bayern who were knocked out in the quarters earnt more in champs league revenue!

The facts are that those are the amounts that the clubs got from the champs league last season

  37. Geoff

Of course spending money guarantees success, proving you don’t buy shit players.

Liverpool dominated the 80′s buying any fuck that moved, Blackburn did it, Leeds didn’t because they bought shit, the Chavs did it and won only their second title in 50 years and the Mancs have been doing it for years.

We only won it because we bought great players, now we’ve stopped, we’ve won fuck all.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work that one out, now we only buy the best young players, we’ll have to wait until they all grow up.

  38. A

Master B the clubs don’t get given £20 mil for getting to the group stages, you’ve misunderstood that.

Yes you get around £4.5 mil for getting there (or did last year, it’s probably increased a little), then x amount for wins and draws, and gate receipts from 3 games. You don’t just get handed a £20mil cheque for reaching it….

  39. A

Geoff obviously spending money doesn’t guarantee success, but buying players who are of a quality higher than that already at the club makes success more likely.

There are absolutely no guarantees in football, especially not when it comes to money, otherwise Leeds and Newcastle wouldn’t be where they are now, and we’d be in the bottom half of the prem!

Dutchman Barazite plays for the Dutch U21s, Merida plays for the younger Spanish sides, not sure he’s made his U21 debut yet

  40. A

I agree though Geoff – we won things because we bought players who became great players, but we didn’t spend big money on them, we didn’t win the league by spending money, we did it by signing quality players

  41. A

Yeah Master B, because you get 4-6 mil for getting there, and our gate receipts bring in a good few mil a game, and get money for every game we win or draw, so it’ll probably end up around the 20 mil mark.

  42. Master B

I mean they play 3 more matches, they have a 90,000 seater stadium, say 1 ticket is worth 35, thats 10mil in gate reciepts alone.

  43. A

The 26 mil is just UEFA revenue Master B, so not including gate receipts. Take away gate receipts and we’d have around £7-8 mil

  44. Geoff

A I said that. However we didn’t win it by growing them, if you think we can’t go out and buy better than Song, Denilson, Eboue and fish head then you must be happy with them.

As I said before teams like Leeds just bought shit, as did Spurs and Newcastle, us, we just buy no one, like I said before, Arshavin was cheaper than Reyes all those years ago, and think what he paid for Wiltord, what are you saying, he was deluded then or he’s a tight bastard now.

He must know what players cost, he just sold two for £40 million. Then he insults Bordeaux with a £5mil bid.

  45. Geoff

We made £46 million from the ECL when we got to the final, cut it how you want, that’s a shed load. I’m off now, I’ve sparred enough today. Night all.

  46. A

We didn’t grow them Geoff, but they were not great players when we bought them!

Henry, Vieira, Pires, Ljungberg were no higher profile than VP, Nasri, Eduardo, Rosicky, Vermaelen.

Our policies in terms of the sorts of players we buy hasn’t changed as much, it’s just that whereas we bought good players and almost all of the became great, in recent years those players have been crippled by injury, or demanded a transfer, so things havn’t come together in the same way as they did previously.

Arshavin is our club record, Reyes didn’t cost more than him. The Reyes deal COULD have gone up to about 16-17 mil, dependant on appearances, goals scored, winning things etc, but the initial outlay was potentially as low as in single figures, and there’s no way he was at the club long enough to get up to half of the potential total fee.

  47. A

Master B you don’t get gate receipts from away games. We get around £4-£5 mil from gate receipts I think last time the figures were released??

  48. Master B

I hope so choy, see this is revenue not profit. Otherwise I’d be pretty pissed off, something shaddy is going on.

Even so, Its not the right root to take, we can pay of the loan much more easily if we win things or just do better.

Thats where all of this started, I was telling A we could make 150mil from winning the CL. Do it twice and most of our loan is gone.

Ofcoarse its not that easy but its worth a try.

  49. Stu

Barca didnt play 4 more games than us. (if thats what you’re saying). If anything we played more because we had to qualify (which is 2 games) and the final is only 1 game.

  50. A

But that’s my point Master B – we wouldn’t make £150 million more profit than we currently are making, nowhere near!! Even if we did win it

  51. Master B

A we get a share of gate recipts from away games not all.

My point is, think about it clearly, your figures state, we got 23mil for getting to the quater finals and barca 26.5 for winning it. This is without gate reciepts.

Now that means the Prize money + TV Rights + Whatnot for winning the CL final is less that 4 mil. I think theres more up for grabs at wimbledon…
It also means that this year someone winning the final would make say 6mil(33% increase) more that us for playing 5 more games(2Q,2S,1F) than us as just the group stages are worth 20mil…..

now 2 Quater and Semi ties are going to be home games, which should bring in 7mil(90,000 seats * 35 price of ticket * 2matches)alone for Barca.

What I am saying is either your figures are wrong or they donot cover a means of revenue generation

  52. Stu

Thats assuming every ticket barca sell is the same price. I dont go to big stadiums often but surely the prices differ depending on the seats. And we dont know how much barca charge anyway. 7m for a home game doesnt seem right to me. We have the most expensive tickets (so you all keep telling me) and we dont get more than 5 at the very most. I think i remember hearing that the club got 3m per home game but that might have been just prem and i dont remember when this was.

  53. Stu

Anyway…moving on….did anyone see Diego freaking out at Perotta in the Roma Juve match. He looked like a right lunatic screaming into Perottas face. The worst thing about it was Perotta got booked for just standing there while being screamed at.

  54. A

No we don’t Master B – you don’t get anything from away gate receipts…. They’d both get a share from the final, in a neutral venue, but in away group games or away legs you don’t get anything.

We only got a few mil less than Barca because we got a greater share of TV rights, prize money is a fair bit more than that.

I dunno the specifics for Barca’s matchday receipts, but their average Champions League attendance last year was 71% of the capacity I saw on one site.

  55. A

All those figures were were the UEFA payments, prize money and TV rights, obviously you’ll get more gate receipts the more games you play, though in terms of gate receipts as Stu pointed out we had to qualify last year, so we probably got the same as UTD and Barca in those regards as they didn’t have to qualify!

Gate receipts and Sponsorship bonuses aren’t included in those figures, as they’re totally club specific and not related to UEFA

  56. A

Yeah i agree Master B, though we got to the semis last season, go in gate receipts terms getting further would have made a very minimal difference.

Sponsorship bonuses would be the big one though

  57. Master B

I just found out it refers to the same Mastercard study, I mean they are sponsoring the tournament, they are probably more concerned with getting the right figures and are well equiped to achieve it.

  58. A

Master B that website has the prize money, it is only 3.7 mil more for winning it, compared to us reaching the semis!

So the difference between a semi finalist and winner according to that website is pretty minimal

  59. A

I dunno about that Master B!! I’d say an independant study, the deloitte figures for example would be more concerned with accuracy, the Mastercard figures obviously have something of a bias!!

  60. A

Though that website, which refers to the Mastercard study, says the difference between a semi finalist like us last year, and the winner, would be minimal….

  61. Hitman

Libya flag – a terrorist flag? Thats poor Geoff. Is the Irish Tricolor a terrorist flag. Is the Basque flag a terrorist flag?
Sorry but that is just an ignorant comment. I expected better. Flags down blow people up. Nasty terrorist orgainsations do e.g. IRA, Al Kady, CIA, Mossad, M15 et al. No one country has a monoploy on terrorism or war crimes. We too have blood on our hands.
You therefore need to give the Libyan People some slack. They didnt ask to be ruled by a loony dictator. They have suffered truly under Gaddafi regime. By all means call the regime terrorist but dont tar all the Libyan people with the same brush. That just spreads hate. Which is why you got kicked out.

  62. Hitman

By the way great You Tube clip. Eduardo really is innocent!! That footage has made by week.

Hes very underrated for me, we don’t concede many when he plays and Djourou only lost 3 times whole season when he played.

Oh yeah forgot to say, Tomas Rosicky is the CAPTAIN of the Czech team so its kinda his responsibility and they really need him to qualify. I know he could get injured but he was fit for Utd game anyway but wenger didnt want to risk him but he needs match practise aswell so i don’t think its too bad him playing. Wenger does it loads of times, fabregas could have played against united but wenger doesn’t like taking the risk, other managers would take it. And Vela aswell, hes training and could have played these last few games but velas agent said it aswell that its just precautionary.

And AARON RAMSEY scored the winner for Wales U21 against Italy U21s, 2-1! Well played and Wilshere won the pen for Eng U21s. Future is bright!

Weird article that Sion, it says it is a Cartiledge that does not keep you out for 6 Months. Not good though as it potentially moves Silvestre up the pecking order. I just hope Senderos and Song is ahead of him. Problem then is if Song goes to CB, who plays CM.

Also look at this. I don’t think Seattle fans need to worry too much, Freddie was a legend, but he left at the right time and I hardly see him coming back to us 3 years later

And you guys need to add Aiden Mcgeady the cheats dive against Hibs when he got sent off.

lol ljungberg, he wouldn’t get into wolves team nowadays, maybe we’ll let him train to keep fit during the close season, but he wouldn’t be able to get a premiership team interested anymore!

Is a bit of a worry re jd, hope it isn’t true. I’d like senderos ahead of him anyways, don’t really rate jd, but silvestre just cannot play!

Hello guys. Just one, quick question. Is Cesc Fabregas Show still in TV here in England?
Also, have a great weekend. I have exams, must study, so I will not be available for few days. Best wishes, and take care!

Maciek the Cesc thing was just a special one off, for some specific reason, can’t remember why though??

    Good luck in your exams!
