Page 4 of 'Working the Ref' by CR7

So those dirty buggers at UEFA decided to make an example of poor Eduardo. Not content with booking him up on one of those holidays with ‘Extraordinary Rendition Ltd’ , they’ve also decided they want to give him a two match ban for an offence that only carries a yellow card if caught. Yes, that’s right… it would have taken Eduardo 2 more yellow cards to get a 1 match ban… and a further 3 yellow cards to get another match ban.

Yes… that’s multiplying the offence by 6 because the ref missed it.

That means if the ref doesn’t see an offence a player can be retrospectively straight red carded!

  • What about if the player doesn’t get the penatly and the ref doesn’t book the player?
  • What about if the player dives and gets a freekick that is scored, is that 2 matches?
  • What about if a goalkeeper dives, the team wins a freekick, two touches and it’s in… does that get a two match ban?
  • What about if the ref sees the dive and doesn’t book the player…

What if… ok, I’ll stop now… but your get the point… complicated.com

So many questions need to be answerred, but my main problem is fairness and equality in the matter. My solution to monitor how it goes is as followed…

We need to utilise the network of Global Grovers.

I want you guys and gals to e-mail in incidents of dives that have gone on accross Europe so we can fill up the ‘Dive watch‘ tab… lets see what the prosecution percentage of these dives is after 6 months… if the level isn’t acceptable… Geoff and I will take Uefa to the European Court of Human Rights on six counts of abuse against Eduardo… then we’ll see who is laughing… mwhahaha!

So… if you see a dive in the Europa Cup or the Champions league, e-mail the players name, what minute it happened and who against and I’ll log it in the side bar —>

I’m accepting of the ban… if everyone else is treated the same.

In other news, there is no news… this comment by Patthegooner summed up my thoughts better than my own brain could on the lack of transfer news…

‘I am going to get right behind project youth now. What is important though is that they continue to deliver performances like they have so far. I know we lost against Man Ure, but it was still a performance that was a lot better than last season. Last year we did not strengthen enough but we also did not deliver on the pitch in effort or quality. This year we have not strengthened enough but I have seen a marked improvement on the field.

I have to look for the positives and they are there. Vermaelen and Gallas is the hinting at being the CB Partnership we have missed since Campbell and Toure. Song has developed ten fold, Arshavin (Once fixed) will be here all season. Cesc showed desire and quality again. Eduardo will be our 20 goal a season striker, but only if Wenger stops fucking around playing RVP up front and chooses the more clinical Eduardo (Would like to see Arshavin, Eduardo, RVP). Rosicky is like a new signing (I suppose) Nasri can only get better. Surely Fabianski will be no 1 when he is fit.

It is not all doom and gloom. I am not happy that we did not sign more players, but I can’t do anything about it, so not going to bother being depressed about it until Jan………as long as they continue to deliver on the pitch.’

That sums it up for me, well said Pat… lets enjoy the team, get behind them and give it 100% from a fan perspective. If it all goes down the pan… then we can dissect it all and get angry… but lets give it a chance… because so far, it’s been pretty good and the only reason we’ve lost a game is two ridiculous mistakes (Read Diaby’s take here, he definitely didn’t blame Almunia!).

The old spending league table makes pretty interesting reading once again, click here to have a look. It’s nothing to be proud of, but I don’t feel any team is £100million better than us… which is a far cry from where we were last year.

I don’t know why, but I have a very good feeling about this year (Paul Kaye, ‘I still had a good feeling about the season… but that’s because I’m a f**king idiot!’)… it feels like the 2008 season without the Eduardo leg break… what do you reckon?

Have a ripper today Grovers… and for gods sake… if you’re opening a can of beans, open the can away from your white shirt… especially if you have a client meet in an hour or so…

alot of people throughout europe rate him much higher than most in england do bbk, we’d get 12 mil easily if we wanted to sell

  2. BOY BETTER KNOW

we get 12 mill for him and we would be laughing str8 to the bank, teams looking to pay 12 mill are getting bumped

  3. David

I think its just sad that 4th spot is our ambition. Or else we’d have strengthened. It makes me sick that if Real Madrid hadnt spent what they did we wouldnt stand a chance.

  4. A

Who says that David?! 4th place is the worst case scenario, and i don’t believe for a second we’ll be anywhere near 4th this season!

  5. gazzap

Nik B is easily worth 12m- easily. a striker of that age just about to come into the prime of his career – clubs are desperate for players like that.
I think he is one year away from being completely there, but he is very close now and I rate him highly. I think he will have a good season.

  6. A

bendtner > ade every time, far superior footballer, but that’s all i’m saying on it because it’s a debate that’s been had far too many times and never achieves anything!

  7. Pedro

Wow… people really do have short memories over Ade…

BBK, you’ve changed your tune… you hated Ade last year and said we’d never win anything with him and he’d only get 15 goals… then after he fulfilled on a shite season, you like him?

  8. David

My point is that united have nothing to worry about if Ronaldo. They have Hargreeves and Brown coming back so they are stronger than they were last year defensively even though ronaldo is off.

You’ve got to feel like its a big opportunity missed.

Im not getting sucked into the Ade/Bendy debate. One is an Arsenal player so i guess that means i have to support him.

Who is more likely to score come the 12th?

  9. David

I dont agree that Ade is lazy.

Between Pink Boots and Ade id say Pink Boots is more arrogant.

You will however win the debate on the offsides thing.

  10. gazzap

not sure if anyone has noted that Eboue has been gradually been moved further up the pitch as the games have gone by this season – and strangely, his performances have worsened each time he moved forward.

I thought at right back he looked superb – better than Sagna, at right midfield he did pretty well, at right striker the other day I thought he was poor. He was busy alright, but his output was really poor. He needs to move back again.

  11. A

gazzap I think against celtic he was in his most advanced role, and it was his best appearance of the season imo. Against utd he was poor though, and i agree he’s good at right back, that’s ultimately where I expect him to play this season, hope he plays in all the home games against average teams ahead of sagna

  12. David

Its a bit of a stretch to say Bendy created that goal A,

First off nobody knew Denilson could score that kind of goal so it makes sense to respect Cesc’s outside shooting versus Denilson everytime.

Bendy did well no denying that…but to say he created the goal is a bit strong…Denilson still had a lot to do to put it behind the net from that distance which he did to to pleasant surprise of a lot of us…I hope to see many more of that this season.

  13. A

I dunno David, I consider that to be a Bendtner created goal, in the same way that so many of our goals in 07/08 were Hleb creating the goals but not getting the assists. Granted though I didn’t expect Denilson to swing it into the top corner like that

  14. gazzap

against Celtic I thought Eboue played his typical right wing role of last season, but he was floating all over the pitch. he is good when he does that. he had a good game that night. but I thought he was more advanced against united.
Either way, he is a better right back than a striker!

  15. David

You cant say Bendy created the goal because there were alot of defenders around Cesc…Cesc had something to do as well…if Denilson hadnt hit the shot at once if he had so much as controlled it they’d have closed down the space…so its questionable there.

  16. Franchise

wenger himself trusts eboue ahead of bendtner. if not he wouldnt have started at OT or maybe wenger is just deluded

  17. Keyser

Adebayor’s gone, and suddenly people only remember his good points, he’s probably going to go on to be a very good striker, if he continues to imrpove at the same rate, but then Bendtner’s younger, he’s probably already scored far more goals then Adebayor did at the same age and if he improves at anywhere near the same rate, he’ll do well for us.

  18. A

Have to disagree David – that’s how chances are created, our moves start with someone drawing defenders to him and beating them, which creates a dominos effect, as the next player’s marker has to come and cover, then the next one, and as we pass eventually the ball finds to someone in space.

What Bendtner did against Everton is exactly what Hleb did time and time again for us, in creating the situation, even though he didn’t get the goal nor assist. The same again in pre season against Hannover

  19. Gus J.

Seriosuly, am I the only one who thinks that a two game ban is completely inconsequensial. It’s not like we have to suit up with ten players for those games… at max we are losing a little in finishing. And aren’t all our players supposed to be able to perform at roughly the same level? So at the end of the day…who gives a damn? That is, fo course, unless it is about the principles…and even here I can hardly get excited…really is this the first time Arsenal has been singled out for mistreament by the footballing authorities? Everyone screaming at UEFA and Platini should take a look at the pathetic biases represented bu the FA. At the end of the day, for all of you still looking for fairness and truth in football, I say good luck.

As far as I am concerned, football is as fucked as gambling and prostitution and our good own Arsenal is as present in this as your Man City’s and the rest of the soulless business cretins using football to buy western culture and credibility through their filthy discusting dirty oil/drug/weapons/etc. money…

And as far as Arsenal is concerned our own Arsene Wenger can get stuffed…as a football and Arsenal fan, I don’t give a dime about Arsenal’s debt and obviously Arsene doens’t give a dime about me…

So get stuffed “professor” and may you crash and burn with your stubborn “everyone’s to blame – but my precious kids” strategy.

    Don’t care anymore…

    Sorry.

Call me anything you wish and I respect your belief, but mine is gone. And being honest to myself, I can only sum up the five years of grief, lies and bullshit that Arsenal has fed me as an (previoulsy) undisputed supporter, fuck you.

I am out! >there must be more to life than this farce… pathetic. Eboue… please!

Let’s all pretend and belief…Arsene knows! Really? Knows what?

    Good luck to you all…

    G.

This revisionism about Ade has got too stop, the guy deep down didn’t want to play for us and it showed in his performances last year. No one doubted that he would score goals just not for us. His relationship with the fans wasn’t fixable, city made an offer and the rest is history. Personally I don’t care if he scores against us or not just as long as we win.

    pedro

Why is the ManU game such an issue now?
    —————————————-
because we always play well and lose if we are honest , the last time we could get away with playing shit and still winning was the FA CUP FINAL .

    we always play well …
we just have no end product or somehow get luck go against us ..

and it has to be down to the personnel we have .
because this trend has been with us for some time now …

Also wenger must be silently happy all this dudu ban stuff has taken place with such precision timing , it takes all the media off him for as to why the prick didnt sign anyone with ALL of ade’s money and some of toure’s cash

so in affect toure for the verminator +4 mil

and ALL of ade’s money is in the SKY ROCKET !

    FUCK – THAT !

    i repeat fuck ! THAT !
we dont deserve to win anything this season with that ambition !

    ——————————————
WELL I HAVE TO DISAGREE A , that works against shit teams , but NOT ALL teams , Arsenal in the past and ALL LAST SEASON have trouble breaking teams down , and when we do, we still have trouble finishing !

    especially our strikers ..

if it wasnt for an AA bomb last match we wouldnt have domino’ed effected anyone !
a smart team can defend well against our attacks . man U shut us down even thou they didnt play well ..

No end product we’ve scored in every game so far this year and no we don’t actually play well. the reason people have been pretty philosophical after the Man U game is the clear improvement that was seen in the team. We bossed the game and outmuscled them in the middle of the park.

  24. ethangunner

its nothing to do with playing better , the formation MINUS ADE , works better for the players we have ..

but your gauging us against everton who also got rolled by BURNLEY ! FFS !
so you know everton are playing REAL SHIT ..

and celtic which are a championship team at best !

i wouldnt think we should lose any of those past games ..

however we lost against a top 4 team !

SAME AS LAST YEAR !!! …
nothing has changed wake up …

  25. Bradys right foot

Our record in the league was good against the top 4 it was the form against the so called lower teams thaqt was disappointing last year. Don’t let the facts get in the way of your opinions.

  26. ethangunner

oh . so we beat liverpool , the chev’s and man U at the end of last season ?

our form is never good past Christmas ..
something wenger has failed to learn from
and with all the talk of learning from our mistakes about injuries …

well that just doesnt seem to be the case .
cesc will be out for 4 weeks …

    lets see shall we …
    against man shitty ..

typical arsenal fan brady , pump yourself up when we play easy beat teams for a month or 2′s stretch , make excuses that we played better and lost V’s a top 4 team .

back wenger up , regardless season in season out ..

if he jumped off a cliff im sure you’d follow also !

No I like making informed judgements from facts. We scored 68 league goals last year the same as the champions and chelsea. We are scoring plaenty of goals this season as well so your point about having no end product is easily countered with even a cursary glance at the statistics.

I’d settle gladly for taking the same amount of points as we did from the big 4 games this year as we did last year.

I’d also gladly like many other fans take a repeat of the league form we showed post Christmas last year, despite your argument that we always f*ck up after Christmas. I’ll not bother getting those stats for you as you obvious don’t form your opinions from such things.

I see a more physical and harder working approach when we are not in possession than last year and believe that this will see us through games were we let ourselves down in last year.

I’m glad i’m a typical Arsenal fan and take that as a great compliment.some of are fans are absolutely incredible and I’m going to start going to a few away games this year something i haven’t really done since the early 90s they really seem to know what this club is about.

Brady there’s no point trying to rationalise with ethan, he’s up in cloud cuckoo land, incredibly opinionated but with no logical reasoning whatsoever behind the opinions he holds and states as fact!

why are we in co huts with shit asian teams can anyone tell me…where are the benifits either with rapids or that shit asian team i’m forsed to play a friendly with in very football manager league

    Massive Massive Blog Fart.

Anyways people what did Wenger base this loss on?

He said it was down to Inexperience. Now how many facking times are we going to give this Darn forsaking excuse? How do we get rid of Inexperience? By buying or By suffering through it till they hopefully learn from it?

How many losses to we reckon we will have that will be down to “inexperience”…its shocking that he didnt add this summer.

The team has already said that inexperience is no longer an excuse so what happnd? Unlucky?

Hopefully this will be the last time we will hear this from Wenger.

yes A like we need a clinical striker because our current 2 in nik and RVP have scored so much .

or that you state that everton will finish 3rd this season ?:)

or in your top 6 10 days ago you didnt even include the spuds at all , or put man U in the top 4 .. but arsenal are number 1 :)

    rational ???

the only person in need of a padded cell is you ..

and no point in betting with the likes of you .
you never hold good on a bet anyhow !

  32. patthegooner

My bet for top six this season

    1. Chavski
    2. Man Ure
    3. Arsenal
    4. Man Shitty
    5. Liverpool
    6. Spuds

    Bottom three

    18. Wolves
    19. Hull
    20. Pompey

The only reason I have Man Ure above Arsenal, is that I reckon that their average performances will continue and they will drop quite a few points before Christmas, at which point red nose will spend heavily in Jan to buy the players to push them on.
