I can see what they are “supposed” to bring, obviously they show it in training, but bottle in the games themselves. It’s a shame really, and Wenger’s faith is misplaced a lot. He does need to make a few tweaks to the team and take certain people out.

Reva, point taken on the fact the Bendtner is 21 but to me Chamakh’s all round game is better. It’s all to do with first touch you either got it or you haven’t. Look at Arshavin or Wilshire their control is instant and natural Bendtners a player who has to work at this he is not a natural footballer. To be in the position he occupies for our team you need to be what you would call gifted. Presence speed from a standing start is imperative playing the way we do. This is why Wenger needs to buy a more ideal strike partner for RVP or Eduardo.. As well as a CB or DM of course.

Ballack goal was perfectly legal though. The ref played advantage, United lost it after a few quick passes and a dangerous break was on. That was world class refereeing imo. Only complaint I may have is the previous 2 incidents when he stopped the game, but oh well.

Adebayor and Toure wanted to leave, I don’t blame them, the only reason Adebayor stayed last year is because Milan wouldn’t pay 35 million for him and we doubled his wages.
If Citeh are prepared to double players wages, thats a massive incentive for those players to leave, and there’s only sOo many times you can give in to players demands and give them improved contracts.

Wasn’t there talk of Bordeaux wanting Silvestre in exchage? I wonder if that was just wishful thinking on our parts and started by a blog or some fan. If its true I would pack his bags, buy his ticket, drive him to the airport, swim across the channel and receive him on the other side personally.
We need 4 CBs, exchange Silvestre in the Chamakh deal, let Sendy move on to Everton and add a solid experianced back such as Hangeland. That would mean Gallas, Vermaelen, JD and Hangeland with Song for desperate times cover. Done.
Also Adebayor wasn’t some great target man, his first touch was too poor to hold up the ball against teams that constricted space, he was good in the air and allowed strikers to feed off him.
We can play 4-3-3 without him, especially if Chamakh comes in. as long as he adds the physical qualities Adebayor brought.
I just don’t know where all the goals are going to come from with the forwards that r already @ The Club. & even if we score early, the team can’t hold onto a 1-0 lead. Emotions ran high on here yesterday,but to be fair I think many are annoyed/frustrated at the lack of transfer activity and this constant use of playing players out of position.
Why Wenger keeps doing it, it’s not that he doesn’t know the players or their best position.I really don’t see the point.
The old chestnut came up again about armchair fans,and though i have supported the club longer than most,I accept we have to move on,if the club really want to compete.
Wenger was a great manager and is still one of the best,but none of us really know the financial restraints being put on him.I am of the belief that there are two main reasons we aren’t signing quality players. One,prices have escalated beyond our reach(though not justifably,)and secondly players agents do not see Arsenal as an attractive option for their respective clients,because they know the better players when transferred to the billionaire backed clubs will give these greedy twunts more money.

Re your 4.31am post Wenger admitted in an interview I seem to recall last year that he gets a bonus if he keeps the transfer budget in the black.
So yes I agree he does get a kind of kick back for not spending-therefore whilst there is money to spend what personal financial incentive does he have? Its the board that should be blamed for us not spending.
In the same interview he implied that he had to sell players each year. Either this is due to the
recession and the flats not selling, or we are going to have to lump with this for sometime to come.
Despite the above with the cash constraints the Board are working with, I don’t see any other manager doing as well as Wenger.
