Seeing Song and Denilson in the middle of the park makes me feel about as comfortable as I do every time I see that advert where Carlton Palmer turns up in that unsuspecting gamblers bath… imagine finding that twat sitting in your bath?
I thought it was a negative line up against a poor team and I didn’t really the benefit bar fitness? Does Wenger do it because he knows we’re going to maul the team we’re about to play, thus convincing us that maybe they are good enough? I mean honestly… couldn’t we play one half with Denilson and Diaby and one half with Song and Arshavin? Wouldn’t that be more interesting tactically? I mean surely we’re not contemplating those two as a partnership in a 4-4-2 next year?
I couldn’t tell you too much about the Hungarian team… when the commentator read the names out it sounded pretty similar to a conversation you’d have with someone who was in an area with a broken reception. So for today, I will mostly refer to the team as Salami FC.
Early on, Mannonne did his best to replicate Almunia’s moment of madness the other day. He dealt poorly with a bad back pass from Rambo but luckily it came to nothing. I quite like Mannone… he is a beast of a keeper, but I can’t imagine him displacing Fabianski as number 2.
It didn’t take us long to break the deadlock… Traore picked the ball out wide, raced past his marker and delivered a pinpoint cross for Thomas Bendtner who glanced it expertly past the keeper. I thought Nik’s half time interview was refreshing. He gets way too much stick in the press for his arrogance, but for me he has manned up over the last year. He works hard, he says the right things and I think he is going to be an immense talent for us this year.
The next goal incidentally was set up by the young Dane. He laid the ball off to a fit Eduardo, who nipped in front of the last defender and buried the ball low and hard across the keeper. A clinical finish from a player who pound for pound shames Huntelaar.
The third goal came from an Eduardo freekick. He hit it low and hard from about 30 yards out… a good strike, but really, the keeper should have done better.
The fourth came after Wilshere cut the ball back to Thomas B just outside the box, Nik looked up and placed the ball low and hard into the bottom right corner. A nice goal from a player high on confidence and perhaps life?
A couple of points that need to be made from the first half. Traore looks like more of a winger than a left back. His positioning was a touch dodgy as he seems more interested in getting forward… however, I think his crossing is superb. Song was pretty poor, his link up play was awful… he passed it to his imaginary friend twice despite having a lot of time on the ball. Yes, I thought the counselling had solved this ‘problem’.

Is this who Song was passing to last night?
If anyone has delusions of a league winning season with him in the middle… you should think again. I thought Rambo and Jack looked good on the flanks. Jack needs to bulk up though… he’d last about ten games in the prem… thugs will try and break him… and he still looks so fragile.
The normal changes were made in the second half and we saw the return of Big Phil to the middle of the park
Jack gave us a glimpse of his talent early on when he broke through Salami’s defence and chipped the ball over the keeper only to be denied by the bar.
What I like about Denilson and Phil is they don’t try and over elaborate. I like Phil in the middle more than Denilson because he was an ok defender and he is a massive lump. Phil just gets the ball out from his feet and plays it to the closest player… no nonsense, no frills and good in the air. I’d love to see how he fared against a good team.
I enjoyed the woman shouting ‘Come on you guuuuners’. If she did that at the Emirates, we’d probably hear her on the tele there as well!
Big Phil dispossessed a Salami player and drove through the middle of the park Yaya fashion, laid the ball off the Robin who couldn’t get a shot out. The ball went back to Phil who woefully crossed… I guess that’s why he keeps it simple! A nice run though.
Sagna put us under the kosh by losing the ball but luckily for him Gallas showed great recovery skills to make the tackle.
One of the Salami boys had a shot from the half way line… Chesney collected with ease. I didn’t need to tell you that, but I wanted to show you I’d thought about the spelling problems of the Polish keepers name (Wojciech Szczesny) and I’d found a solution. We never rest on our laurels here at Le Grove!
Bendtner got munched by the keeper on 66… Robin stepped up and showed off his penalty skills with a rasping top corner penalty. He sure is good at penalties…
Chesney picked up the ball and rolled it out (<- it really is a good nick name).
This is probably a good time to mention Arshavin… I didn’t realise he’d even come on. Annonymous is a word I’d mostly associate with his game today.
Wilshere made a lovely run, passed to Nik who flicked a little pass perfectly into Niks path… Jack showed his lack of maturity by going for the audacious outside of the foot shot when he should have buried it. It’s a tough thing to manage… because you want players to express themselves but not at the expense of an easy goal.
Chezzers showed his metal late on when a Salami player hit a low shot… the keeper parried it, then made a superb reaction save to deny the Hungarians a goal.
Denilson got himself into a mess by not clearing the ball, Big Phil clumsily challenged and gave away a freekick. The ball was fired high towards the top corner, Chesney was equal to it and tipped it over in quite spectacular fashion.
Then shock of the night, Silvestre whipped a superb cross into Robin who headed low and angled past the keeper. Sadly he was unfairly declared offside.
Senderos over hit a pass to Nik… and the young Dane raced onto it at surprising pace. He is deceptively quick… again, not an important moment… but info I feel it would have been a disservice not to let you know.
Salami cheated to get a penalty… Chesney dived early, the forward paused… then clipped it wide. Chesney delivered the wanker sign in amusing fashion… did someone tell him that they have camera’s in Hunagary these days? Arsenal.com in traditional propaganda fashion cut that part out in the replay… well played chaps, Goebells would have been proud!
So to summarize…
A clean sheet, 6 5 goals and some very assured performances.
The commentators kept talking about us playing a 4-3-3… I didn’t see that, I thought we played a traditional 4-4-2. I think we will flick between that and a 4-5-1 next season. It all depends on the strength of our centre midfield. Song certainly isn’t capable of filling that role… Can Denilson make the jump? Well, he doesn’t look different physically and he still lacks mobility. People talk about his pass completion rate… but that’s like talking about how many girlfriends the man who went to school in an all female convent had. If you play in a team who specialise in short passing football, the chances are you will be making more passes than a team who play a more direct style like Liverpool.
Nik Bendtner looked very good today, his passing was good, his finishing clinical and his work rate was much improved. Eduardo did what he always seems to do… score goals. His only weakness is his team play. I don’t think he gets involved as much as previous greats of the club have done… but Bilic always champs his team play for the national team… so I’ll give him time! I hope all thoughts of signing Huntelaar have passed people by… I’ve watched him quite a few times and I can tell you first hand… he will drive you crazy… he isn’t fast at all, he isn’t a team player and I don’t think he is better than what we already have.
Finally, before we go (I too have an imaginary friend)… I just want to run an idea past you all. Adebayor is really starting to irritate me in his new found role as spokesman for Man City and the Association of World class footballers. We need a plan for him when he comes over to the Emirates, and one of my good friends gave me an idea today. Why boo him? Why don’t we all laugh at him every time he gets the ball? How humiliating would that be! Everybody opening up a 60,000 people can of laughter every time he spoons his first touch 14 yards in front of him!
Have a think about it… because he’ll enjoy the booing, it would seem like we cared about his departure… he needs to know that I threw a street party when he left!
Right, have a rip roaring day and remember to say happy Birthday to Geoff… not as some sort of practical joke… but because it’s his birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
It’s been a pleasure reading your blogs over the last year, may there be many more to come!
I hope I’ll be joined in raising a virtual Peroni to your 35th birthday! I’m also pleased to announce that after a year of solid contribution… the blog equivalent of a 50 game season… Le Grove Corp is pleased to announce that we’ve offered Geoff a one year extension to his deal. Geoff has accepted his new contract on pay as you blog terms and is confident he can take his blogging to the next level this coming season!
Cheers!

whats all this about de rossi on the site.
i would spend all the eboue ade toure sende money on villa in a heartbeat!!!
Kompany is good, not great. I used to like him but clearly he isnt that good at defending. Otherwise City wouldnt ave played him in midfield and shit Richards and Onouha in defence ahead of him.
Stu @ 22:57
I agree big time mate. i just think its wrong Gallas having the no. 10 . The sooner it Arshavin gets it the better
Just please don’t let us sign that Chamakh twunt… if we do i can not see myself enjoying him diving around the pitch faking injuries after minimal player contact!
Arsenal players used to be good role models and then Adebayor came along and spoilt the clubs image.. made us look like mugs for increasing his wages and then not working for his wage on the pitch where it matters! These type of prima donna tosspot footballers are not wanted by the fans of Arsenal FC imo… only players with a decent set of principles may apply because AFC stands for greatest and only the morally best should deserve to be worshipped by us their adoring fans!
AA #10… Too fookin right.. Nite all
nite Red
That guy did sound quite convincing, must admit. Paying a confidentially sum sounds like something we would do.
Night Redbearer….agree with your last post aswell. I hate anyone that isnt honest, loyal and hardworking. It hate those cunts who mess about on the pitch diving, complaining andmaking a mockery of the good image the club has.
Maciek kompany is no centre mid, he looks like a centre back playing in midfield, as senderos did, his distribution under pressure, and his turning circle, agility etc was very similar to sendy yesterday as well. He could end up as a very good centre back, but he’s nothingy as a DM, he won’t start for City this season i’d doubt, certainly not in DM regularly.
Thanks. Also, good night guys!
so guys with Gallas with one year left on his contract what do we do with him? keep and then lose him on a free or try and sign hip up ofr another 2/3 years?
Nite Red.
Night Maciek.
raif i think he’s being kept for one more year, to help vermaelen out in his first season, then he’ll be gone on a free next summer, with someone else coming in to play alongside vermaelen, whether it’s song/jd/sendy if he’s kept, or someone bought.
Raif i have a feeling if and when Toure goes, Gallas will sign a one year extension. That will give Wenger time to search for a proper replacement
Raif, Gallas has made it quite clear that he will leave on a free next summer. I fucking hate players doing that and there is nothing we can do about it because Wenger only offers a 1 year extension.
So either lose him for nothing next summer OR sell him this summer and reinvest the money we get. Either way we are set to lose a good defender.
And with all the (supposed) movement about to happen in our defence its probably best we hold onto him.
Oh or Bartley goes on loan this season or stars in the League Cup, and comes through as the next Ferdinand, starting from next season alongside Vermaelen
A..
Hmmmm i think you may be right there..
Isnt Bartley a little too young to play first team football regularly?
Dont think Gallas wants to be at Arsenal really…
vermi, hange, galli and djourhou
sorted, sell the rest

Good evening, as an Arsenal supporter for more than 30 years, i have been coming onto this site for last 2 weeks and it is becoming quite obvious that arsenal fans are becoming quite frustrated with transfer dealings, therefore i feel the need to reveal two imminent arrivals………what a great story, can’t wait for it to NOT happen,i suppose we will see tho all in good time
Gallas, Vermaelen, Senderos, Toure
sorted, sell the rest…oh erm wait…
Switch Song for Toure….sorted.
annoymous = ANNOYMostOfUS
Yeah kinda Stu, depends just how good he is!! If he’s a wonder-player then he could play at that age, the next rio/adams – that’s a long shot though!!
I hope that someone else comes in this summer, so that he gets accustomed to the club and plays the odd game, so he’s in a better position to take over when gallas is done, but it could well be jd or song who’s earmarked to partner vermaelen, hope not though.
Yeah i’d be very happy with that Stu, good set of centre backs there. Would still rather someone better came in than song, jd, and senderos, though I’m envisaging the perfect defender there so maybe unlikely.
Either Juhasz or Van Damme (both anderlecht) would be a good choice because of their age but i think both are prefered left siders and we already have Vermaelen bought so they seem unlikely.
villa arshavin rvp eduardo
sell the rest
Bruno Alves Stu? Zapata? Marchena?
walcott nasri rosicky vela wilshire
sell the rest….
ahhhhh
i see what wengers doing
Stu I think if a centre back comes in it’s gonna be a young player, someone who’s happy to sit on the bench whilst they adapt this season, and wait patiently for Gallas to move on next summer, when he can join Vermaelen at the heart of the defence.
I wonder about Zapata Maciek, especially if kolo goes I could see a younger player like him coming in, as in whoever we bring in will be a quick, powerful defender, who can play right back as well as centre back.
Do know what guys it is kinda sad to see Toure go , at the same time i feel its for the good of the club. If and i mean if Wenger make the kinda of signing we all know we need, a big tough tackling bastard. I will be happy
Yes A. Zapata is great.Well, at least better than everyone we have.
duno if its posted. but here’s the photoshopped pic of de rossi
http://img.skitch.com/20090728-tb7h6p1mwt8ci8ktx1k5ysfw5.jpg
A – with our injury recird they wont have to stay on the bench for long anyway they would be first choice by january
Almunia
Sagna Hangeland Gallas/Vermy Clichy
Theo Cesc De Rossi Rosicky
RVP Arshavin/Eduardo
Subs-Micah Richards, Vela, Diaby,
LETS GET DE ROSSI EVERYBODY! HAY!
I heard that Zapata is pretty lazy…heard it on here todau actually.
god even seeing silvestres face in that squad page makes my blood boil!
I agree totally A . Zapata is the type of playa we need . He is young but a monster of a defender.
I think Wenger is keeping Silvestre around to keep Gallas company.
I’ve only seen a bit of Zapata, not saying I think he’s who we should sign. From what I’ve seen of him he looks awesome, but then again you could look at bits of Richards and think they’re awesome so it doesn’t mean much!
Long as we don’t go for Hangeland, which I’m sure we wouldn’t, then I’m happy!
Silvestre need to go simple as. I did’nt really rate the guy at his peak at Manscum utd.
Ok, now I’m really gone. Night guys!
I dunno HTH – at his peak Silvestre was a very good premiership player, though never top top class. I’m happy for him to stay as long as he doesn’t play, his experience will be useful in the dressing room, but he shouldn’t get any time on the pitch, and i doubt he would.
nite maciek
selling toure for the same price as we paid for arshavin
It’s absolutely ridiculous isn’t it face!! Not been the same player for a few years, one year left on his contract, and he would have been a sub this year, and we’re gonna get that much money for him, incredible.
A your right about richards . But I do watch Serie A quite a bit . He a good defender postional aware, strong and has pace . If he can adapt to the premiership . We will have to see, like with all players.
how does wenger get away with it?
this could be the last summer we mug a club off with has beens.
41M for 2 players of to the ACN for maybe 2 months
what the hell are city thinking? its beyond bizzare but great for us
Yeah HTH, i’ve not seen enough of him to have a valid judgement, but what I’ve seen i’ve been impressed with, would be good foil for Vermaelen too
I dont know A, i think Silvestre has no actual use at the club. Just because he is experienced doesnt make him a good player, not does it mean he is a leader on the pitch or off it.
You are either a leader or you’re not and imo its pretty obvious that he isnt one.
So August 2nd, 2 signings are going to be announced? True? False? If true, who?
It had better not be Chamakh and Matuidi. We should be after much better than those 2.
It’s not being a leader, it’s having been there and done it. You can see when you hear him speak that he’s an intelligent bloke, and has alot of years at the top that he’s learnt alot from, and can pass on that knowledge to kids. He obviously has a use in the club, its just whether that use can justify his being employed purely for off the pitch, though he’d be very much the worst case scenario in terms of playing.
We wouldn’t get any money for him if we sold him, and he won’t be on massive wages, so there’s nothing to be gained by letting him go, best just to keep him, maybe he’ll do his coaching badges this year too act as a bit of a player-coach
Yeah Face, when i really started to think about , i pissed myself . If they try to mount a challenge as soon January comes they are fucked.
Please please please if it’s true let one of them be Matuidi, as for the other one, who knows! Hopefully a very good young centre back to take over from Gallas next summer
Don’t suppose anyone popped to maidenhead for the arsenal XI game?
I honestly think the concept of Wenger being some man obsessed with youth is bullshit. He has had minimum funds and with minumum funds, youth is the most efficient way to build a team. Now that he has sold Ade and probably toure, he wont have minumal funds. Everybody knows that youth is potential, and that already established players are better. Its not secret. Do you really think a manager who took a team undefeated through a season doesnt realize that youth is risky? No. I would expect to see some already proven players sign come August 15
The possibility of him playing, even in the worst case scenario, is enough to warrent selling him. And he is taking up a spot that anyone else could be in. He doesnt deserve to play for us.
I dont care what he has done in his career, he is fucking shit and no amount of experience will change that. He was last resort last season and played about 20games and fucked us over with one of the worst games/goals ratio ever seen. He is a shambolic excuse for a top level(CL) footballer. I just hate the fucker for wasting space at our club.
I wonder luke – imagine if he just pulled a de rossi out of the bag and shocked everyone!
Stu, Matuidi he is not a bad player, but he is one for the future as always. Forget Numbchucks he is crap.
you lot really falling for that 2nd of august shit
I mean, if you look at the past 2 signings he’s made, 16 million and 12 million-not exactly cheap transfers. Anyone see a trend?
I hope its true BBK, but im not that stupid.
It doesn’t matter how good he is on the pitch stu with regards to his experience off the pitch. He’s been at the top for a long time, is very intelligent, and has wisdom to pass on to the kids. He isn’t taking up a space that someone else would, he’s just an extra head in the changing room that can be nothing other than good for the squad. I’d rather he played centre back than JD anyways, but either way, there’s nothing to be gained by getting rid of him, as he isn’t considered a first teamer who if he left would be replaced.
Don’t let your hatred of him blind you to the fact that his influence in the changing room can be nothing other than positive. I don’t want nor expect to see him play many if any games for us this season, but it’s always good to have an old head around.
lies as always luke.
no bbk, noone is falling for it, people are just saying IF it’s true who would it be, just pure speculation
I wonder if the reason the Matuidi transfer was delayed was because of the ade interest – Wenger was going to sign Matuidi, but then got more money out of nowhere, so decided to move for someone higher profile.
ahh just speculation that old chestnut hey
De rossi is a good player . Gokan Inler is better though, in my opinion any way.
Really HTH?? I was told Inler was shit this season in serie a?? De Rossi is one of the best centre mids around imo, not seen enough of inler, but never thought much of him.
If Matuidi came, I’d be happy, he’s a fuckin General.
Damn it A, let it go. We have been linked once with Matuidi this summer and that was imo a SSN fuck up. I dont know how you are so convinced and you admit yourself that you havent seen him so i dont understand why you think he is sooooo good.
My opinion of De Rossi is that he is an italian Randall. Good passer but makes some horrible challenges.
A , Inler didnt play amazingly neither did De rossi imo. But inler physical presents is more like whaT we need
Just from everything I’ve been told Stu, every description I’ve heard describes him as exactly what we need, apart from the height, and I’ve not heard a single person who’s actually watched him regularly have a single bad word to say about him
True actually stu – de rossi is a bit of a dick, though to say he’s the italian randall is excessive!
Yes A, probably over doing it with the Randall comparison but i couldnt think of anyone else that is talented but a dirty cunt.
LOL , Stu
Stu, correction, if I may: Randall has no feckin’ talent, he’s shite…
morning all,
so Toure off in the next 24 hours and we will have 40mil in the bank, doubt any of that will be spent!
Roy Keane Stu?!
Randall has some talent, but not THAT much!!
Evo yep, a new DM is on his way, just wonder who it’ll be!
Now now SUGA, i hate that twat Randall as much if not more than anyone else. My hate is probably a tad irrational but even i recongise that he has some talent. He just wastes it by being a dirty fucker who is over confident in his ability and makes so many potentially career threatening tackles. I fucking hate that gowl…and his face makes it even worse!
morning Evo . I really hope it gets spent . Because with that money Wenger could make us Champions again.
I bookmarked this analysis by Gabriele Marcotti an age ago and it automatically pops up everyday with my football file
http://timesonline.typepad.com/thegame/2008/11/the-enforcers-w.html
usually ignore it but today re-read it
most of it still makes sense
Randall is a technically gifted player, great passer, but he seems to really switch off and do stupid stuff, trying to make himself look better than he is.
Reminds me of a certain David Bentley……..
Dont be ridiculas A! Randall is nowhere near as good as Keane. Randall is just a cunt, at least Keane made a living out of it. I doubt Randall will…maybe in league 1, if he’s lucky.
i would love us to spend it, but not sure? wenger is the most cagey person we know, just watched his interview from after the game and the only piece of evidence is Toure is off today, but signings may or may not come in the next few days or next few weeks!
Sion , do know what i was thinking the same thing. He reminds of that twat.
No I was talking about De Rossi Stu!!
You said you couldn’t think of someone with alot of talent, who was a dirty fucker, to compare De Rossi to, which is why you mentioned Randall – I was saying Keane was a very talented but dickheadish footballer who would fit those criteria to compare with De Rossi, not Randall!!
Randall should make a very good championship career, whether we like him or not, and very possibly a lower end of the table premiership career. He’s a poor man’s bentley, and I doubt he’ll play for England, but he’s a much more talented boy than the likes of Sidwell and Muamba
each and every time I saw Randall playing he was the worst AFC player inside the stadium, let alone the goddamn pitch
no wonger Derby would not have him – they have one of those, his name is Robbie Savage
Evo , it is that way because he does’nt like people to know jack shit. just like rest of the club at all levels . We are left in the dark .
Evo all the things Wenger has said and done recently point to a DM coming in, playing senderos at DM, saying that we’ve had to play centre backs (plural) in midfield, and saying we’ve got 7 centre backs, (so counting song as a centre back in both cases, not a midfielder), and he pretty much said there will be additions, just doesn’t necessarily know what positions and when
A,
If you dont want Sylvestre to play, why wouldnt you want Arsene to get rid of this dead wood.If he is there in the dressing room to advice the youngsters, whats the role of a coach?I highly doubt Arsene will offload him, because he is so stubborn, that he would never accpet his mistakes.
And we are after a goal keeper foe £3m.Another one for the future. Why cant we try to have a successful present than aiming for the past.If it were a defender who was available for this cut price,he would have certainly ignored him.
“when the time has come we WILL do something”, that’s the bit of the interview i’m most optimistic about, no fucking about saying we might or might not sign people, we will do something.
PK fair enough then A. But i dont think De Rossi will be that good either. But i suppose its a fair comparison…in a way.
As for the cunt himself…i just cant stand the fucker. I hate having to see him in an arsenal shirt and take it for granted, thinking he is the dogs bollocks. Im not normally a violent person (aggressive maybe but not violent) but if i met him chances are i would smack him. He isnt good enough for arsenal and it annoys me when he gets starts ahead of Ramsey, Coquelin and others in the CC.
Hello guys are we all still up or is it me?
Jaguar, Tim Krul (the keeper we are linked with for 3m) is anything but cut price. He doesnt even get on for Newcastle ffs. How shit does someone need to be to not start for them.
And if a young defender was available for 3m im sure Wenger would go for him.
Because we’re losing a lot of experience at the back Jaguar, there’s nothing wrong with keeping an experienced head in the changing room, someone for the kids to go to if they want advice, he could be like a player coach. He’s not going to be on very big wages, so we’ve got very little to gain from losing him, much less than we’d gain from his experience. Otherwise our only experienced defender left if Gallas, and you’d imagine he’s far from approachable!
The krul thing seems weird to me, even if he is very highly rated we’ve got Fabianski coming through, and mannone after that, got young keepers already, though if he was that good for the dutch u21s maybe be could be a shock wonder player. I doubt it though, does seem like an odd one to me.
I have no doubt that Wenger will buy players. Its just a matter of when . Because now there is no excuse.
With our club is almost like unwrapping a christmas present , you never know if you’ll like it our not.
Stu I think as centre mids go De Rossi is one of the most overrated around, if we could get anyone I’d love us to get him, but it would never happen because he’d cost £30 mil or so.
With randall it’ll be interesting what happens with him this season now the loan to derby has fallen through
Gunnersmith
I am a jobless gooner who has been refreshing this page, every 5 seconds, and will be awake till the end of the transfer window, only to see, that we’ve got rid of two more players and read the manager’s post
“The team is young, and experienced by one more year.We will be benefitted by the experience of two players, who are like new signings,ie Sylvestre and Senderos”.
Gooners are truly a lucky lot.
A most of the time i disagree with you and yep once again i do. if im wrong or you’re wrong, thats ok, were on a blog where you can debate.
Senderos has the ball in his court whether to stay or go. Wenger needs to keep him in the shopping window and fit, so hence he gets minutes on the pitch in midfield. The defenders who will start the season are the ones getting the minutes in their starting positions – Vermalen and Gallas, with Djourou and Silvestre as back up. Wenger knows Song is very versatile, so he is back up as well, but does not necessarily need to play at CB in the warm up game as he is getting his fitness in the midfield.
I think we will buy one more player, probably a striker.
i do hope im wrong and we buy 1 striker, 1 defender and 1 midfielder.
Silvestres exoerience counts for nothing because he is so shit. I think not having him able to play for us is a massive gain, compared to any questions the kids might have.
Honestly, what could they possibly need to know that one of the midfielders of coaching staff dont know.
Evo in the interview Wenger says both that we have 7 centre backs, which has to include song, and that we have centre backS playing in midfield, that means more than just senderos, so he counts him as a centre back!
We’re just speculating so only time will tell, but i’m absolutely convinced that a centre mid will be coming in.
Silvestre hasn’t gotten a single minute at centre back so far….
I hope you’re wrong too Evo and we buy a beast of a defensive leader and an experienced quality midfield general. And both know what it takes to win tropies at the highest level.
Well then Jaguar Happy refreshing cos this transfer window tou’re gonna need to refresh evert 2 sec you dont want to miss the action do ya?
You mean apart from the game when he played left back….right A.
stu that makes no sense!! regardless of how crap he is playing now, it doesn’t take a single thing away from his experience and the advice he can give to the kids.
He’d be able to pass on the knowledge that only defenders who’ve played for a number of years at the top level have acquired, that midfielders, nor general coaches would know.
He’s a very intelligent, experienced player, don’t let your hatred of his crap playing side blind you from that!!
Wikipedia lists de Rossi as…
“a product of the Arsenal F.C youth system (where his father, former Roma player Alberto De Rossi, is a coach”
huh stu??
Evo I don’t want a striker, there’s noone we could get that would be worth it imo. A centre mid and a centre back and i’m very happy!
I totally agree Evo. if we can get 1 striker, midfielder and a defender. There will be no stopping us from winning any trophy we set our minds to
A, but its not like he has privilegded(sp) information that no other defender or player or coach at the club has. He isnt the messiah. Letting him go is the best option.
Or at least release him and change his title to coaching staff so his wages get dropped and there is no possibility f him getting a game for us.
I think most people would welcome huntelaar if he came, he cant be getting minutes for holland with RVP if he is rubbish, it would also create excitement around the club which is something money cant buy, or perhaps it can? lol.
If a defensive mid comes in, im over the moon, but i dont think there is massive quality out there to buy.
Will probably be Bassong on the cheap from Newcastle and he might wait his chance too.
Anonymous blog sounded interesting I wonder if Geoff knows the mysterious blogger? Doesn’t Geoff/Pedro screen Le Grove for imposters?
Obviously it’s not privileged information Stu, but every player with experience will bring something different, because of different experiences. Just because it isn’t privileged information doesn’t mean that everyone else knows it. Otherwise you wouldn’t need different coached, and experience wouldn’t exist because every player would know everything!!
Every wise head around the changing room will be beneficial to us imo, but I think it’s an agree to disagree moment. I just see absolutely no benefit from letting him go, but a potential positive in his staying.
silvestre has to go . i do not feel the club should waste it money on him. we can lighten the wage.
*its
el tel i’d be very surprised if it was bassong – he’s a left footed left sided centre back, and whoever we bring in would need to be a right footed right sided centre back, to play alongside vermaelen.
Silvestre is looking super fit, as opposed to the start of last season when he was not fit and out of form, i back him to be adequate back up for left back this season! He can help the guys in the dressing room with experience also!
gday El tel – whats this anonymous blog stuff, where do i find that?
Hi Evo
Spot on buddy, we can all speculate as much as possible but if there is no option for CM then he won’t buy. Wenger will not listen to who we think he should buy.
Its like a Championship Manager game on here at times with guys talking like they are the Manager.
Am I alone in slating Wenger for his tactics in game play rather than his Players.
El Tel, you take that back! I donjt want Bassong either..he is in the Chamakh bracket as far as im concerned.
A, fine so agree to disagree….but im right
el tel of course you aren’t alone in slating wenger for his tactics – on this blog wenger has been slated for absolutely everything under the sun, the recent bad weather was wenger’s fault in some people’s eyes! It’s just that there aren’t any proper games currently for people to slate wenger for the tactics, though some have still managed to slate the tactics in the pre season friendlies so far!
The transfer window is the main topic of conversation, so that’s the main thing wenger is currently slated for
Evo Hi Buddy
Check out what anon said at 22.34 mate
Evo on this site 22:34
Silvestre isnt super fit. He just played against some part timers with their star man being a 44 year old. And its pre season against poor opposition. Wait until he is in a defence against quality opposition and watch the goals fly in.
In fairness i’ve only seen 1 person actually criticising Wengers tactics this pre season.

I guessed you would oppose what I say about Bassong. I suppose your going to tell me Gallas is left footed are you. Does he not play left side?
I am not the person who is reporting our Manageers interest in Bassong but if he doesn’t fit in because he is left footed then I guess the reporters are guessing as usual.

The only action for gunners that has been happening this transer window, has been here.

If Sylvestre is here to pass his advice to the youngsters, why didnt Arsene persist with Gilberto, who could have played for us as well.I wont buy this crap of experience. The only reason, which I can swallow,is that Arsene bought him was down to FCUK(French Connections (in) U K).Pun deliberately intended.
Hi Stu
Wenger had the chances to win things with these Players last season and fucked up.
I left Wembley very dissapointed after getting beat by the Chav cunts. We had a great chance to beat them.
Also it was unforgiveable what he did v the Neanderthals up the road when we had them beat too.
If we are poor at defending then attack but he tries to protect small leads by bringing on defensive minded Players
He also perseveres with the likes of Diaby anywhere on the pitch just to keep him happy.
wow that 22.34 info is out of this world, imagine that shit, holey fuck a duck….cant be true…can it?
Facinating comment Evo even if it is a wind up it was very precise.
Jaguar I agree with you mate.
I hate Wnger for buying a Manc cunt into our Club.
He also let that Cunt Beckham spy on us the previous season he then buys another of their spies.
Fucking shit move.
Can you imagine the Chavs letting that Manc twat train with them the other year.
evo if it was true i’d be happy. More than likely could be bullshit
yeah there is a few things that leave to be desired by Wenger, but i was only the previous season we should have and nearly won the league. we just need to bring that back and finish of our seasons properly!
Silvestre cost next to nothing because he is shit and Fergie knew he would make our defence even worse. And suprise suprose it worked. I dont know what the stat is but its worse than a goal a game conceded when he played.
He is shit and there is no reason to buy/keep him. One of wengers most idiotic purchaces ever.
Honestly,I’m note the fiercest of AW’s critics.I’ve always been the fan of his style of play, and I do admire him for the way he has passed on his style of play down the generations. But wouldnt it be lame to assume that he is not prone to mistakes
Arsene, who doesnt offer more than 1 year contracts to players above 30,recruited an outcast from up north, for a two year deal, for warming the benches in the treatment room.
Well,I am lost, whenever I think of Sylvestre.I will be back in a while.
another row of dominoes about to fall…
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1202676/Xabi-Alonso-flies-Spain-Real-Madrid-given-48-hours-complete-26m-deal-Liverpool-midfielder.html?ITO=1490
ours for 16m last summer, the title and a 10m profit this summer
i wonder why this anonymous bloke says the 2nd of August? Its a Sunday to start with and we play Valencia the next weekend, im very intrigued!
el tel – no gallas is right footed, which is why he can play either side, bassong is left footed and can only play on the left side, and there’s no way he could partner vermaelen. I’d be very surprised if there wasn’t interest in Bassong at one time, but that was before we signed Vermaelen, when we were looking at a number of left footed centre backs.
The latest press reports are just the journalists doing what they do and bringing up old stories because kolo is going, that’s it, bassong isn’t a possibility.
Jaguar Gilberto wanted to go because he wasn’t happy with not playing first team football, otherwise I’m sure wenger would have much preferred him to have stayed.
yeah evo, that’s a good point, i thought it was a monday, pretty ridiculous then! Unless they’re to be announced at the emirates cup game, but that would be very un-arsenal!
Liverpool always fcuk up their trades, why would you sell Alonso?
It’s weird isn’t it evo – he’s said to be a complete dick, which is why they wanted rid last summer, but after the season he just had, he must be a complete and utter cock for them to be willing to let him go!
A
Matie, you havent answered my question about Gilberto,Thank you.
I did above Jaguar – Gilberto wanted to leave, so Wenger let him, simple as that, Wenger would have loved him to have stayed I’m sure, especially with Denilson taking his place – He was Denilson’s mentor the whole time they were at the club together, could’ve helped him through the tough times!
