Kalou? No thanks Chelsea, let’s get someone we need and not do a Diarra again.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So the latest rumour is Kalou, because the Chavs don’t want him and Wenger did a few years ago, I like Kalou but not in ACN year, and he won’t bring to the party what we need right now.

If we are to replace Ade, let’s do it with a big lump, like a Dzeko or such, this bloke from Roma I know nothing about, so I won’t comment, but buying Kalou would be like buying Diarra, we did it because he was available, but we didn’t really need him.

I still want a DM and a CB, the Kolo stories gather pace and if you listen to Man City’s spokesman, the great Adebayor then you get the feeling Kolo may take the bait, or as we used to call it, the money.

Whatever happens, won’t happen until the team get back from Austria and that is if anything happens at all.

I hope Terry goes to City just to show the Chavs there’s a new and richer, rich kid on the block, I think it may push Abramovich away from football and the chavs can go back to being that shit team in West London again.

Fergie thinks Arsenal are going backwards, Wenger thinks we are stronger, either way I would feel more comfortable if we strengthened with the Ade money just a bit, we are playing tomorrow and I’m looking forward to that, maybe we’ll have more of a clue as to the shape of the team, maybe not.

Last week Pedro got into a debate with someone about Ade whoring himself to the Mancs, that person said to Pedro ‘I suppose you believe everything you read in the Sun then’ well the answer to that was no, but Alex Ferguson is in the Mail today telling the world that Ade called personally offering his services, that blogger, we were right after all!

Man City have got themselves a real tosser there, I so hope he bombs out, much, much more so than Cashley.

Today was supposed to be a guest blog from A, but sadly he didn’t come up with the goods, never mind, you’ll have to suffer me again!

Have a great day today Grovers and dream about what tomorrow will bring.

keyser he’s not starting, and no mention of him on the sunderland website though it doesn’t name subs. I’d imagine if he features he’ll be playing in the second match of the amsterdam tournament rather than be rushed into the team for the first.

True about sociedad Jimbo, but Gibbs was complete shite at Norwich! I’d like Merida to go off on loan see how he can do at a top of the table championship team

  2. Keyser

Paulinho – Oh come on, once you find yourself a favourite, everyone else shrinks into the shadowns cast from their halo, I just try to even it up a little, enlightenment of a sort.

Thing is Carrick is obviously going to have to work a lot harder than he is now, in our team, and for that price it’s just not worth it, even at United he has to have a safety net in midfield with Anderson or Fletcher.

If we played a 4-5-1 it might work, but then we could just add someone with more energy and mobility to what we have now.

  3. Jimbo

Yes, as far as I gather Wilshere did go off the boil a bit last season.

However, where is Merida right now?

He’s neither in Austria, nor is he playing for the reserves. Guess he’s off on loan.

i feel carrick is a pass master very much like cesc not dm player i think that more darren fletcher he had to step up because hargreves is injured, they defend very well as a ateam no glammer boys in that team, despite all the money man city have spent i still dont see them as any threat to top 4 at all, they bought tvez works hard but interms of scoring wornt score more than 15-20 goals at the most, ade well lets face wenger was more tha n happy to let him go,chelsea ,manu, real madrid, inter,ac milan none of the top clubs wanted him,i rate santa crues and barry though they are quite good, there defence si joke, the fact that only players defenders they could find is john terry is ajoke, which tells me that they have no scouting network and cant spot gifted players can only through money other clubs for best players,if look at fergi he bargin getting rinaldo evon when spent 19 mill on nani and anderson you they will top palyers for future, vinich only cost 7 mill top top class player, its not how much you spent its quality of the purchaces i dont think amn city players are mentaly tough enough to cope with presure of sustaining the chalenge,i know the young we have do, they can cope with injuries and with the presure

  5. David

Wilshere was just amazing for us….then Arsene decided to “protect” him….i think he suffered with lack of playing time and being played out of position…and plus he picked up an injury?

    ================================

If carrick was such a pass master how come he couldnt find Ronaldo or J.S Park into one of those through passes behind a slow 35 year old Silv….?? Or a 33 year old Puyol? Surely Rooney and Park where quicker and know how to time their runs…Also….Ronaldo was offsides more than Adebayor and Inzaghi combined which tells me either the ballon d’or winner cant time his run…or the passer of the ball is not as class as we think he is…….probably the latter yes? I think so.

  7. A

nah David – he suffered from too much playing! he was just a kid, and training with the first team 5 days a week after youth football took it out of him so he needed to go back down to the youths for a while, have a rest

  8. A

    ah ok, apologies david!

it’ll be interesting what happens with merida, lansbury, murphy, and hoyte after the euros end.

Also vela will be linking up with the squad after the gold cup final, hopefully he’ll be starting, kicks off in 40 mins!

  9. KM in WALES

i think ramsey will get more games this season due to Nasri’s injury.Diaby is a nitwit who needs to prove his worth.if only wenger was more ruthless…

  10. leon

    david

fergi does not buy muggs weather you like or not that team is a very good with very good midfield they did not win the prem by fluke it down to good defending as a team starting from midfield,if we are going to win prem is defending as a team will win use the title.on wintshire he is too young to be playing in prem yet week in and out and and way to young to go out on loan he showd keep training with first team and playing the carling cup and fa cup games he is only 16-17 that is extremly young

  11. MARK GOONER

what are your guys thoughts on this whole vieira story

for me, id never forgive him and would be gutted if it happened

some fan sites are saying he has earned the right to go where he wants, i say bollock to that

  12. MARK GOONER

    i agree michael
if any legend joins the scum he ruins his arsenal career, it aint like the yids are offering him 150k

hes taking a 60% pay cut

he knows the hate between the 2 clubs and knows alot of fans would never forgive him

  13. Stu

I agree Mark. Vieira to spuds would be unforguvable. Surely he knows better than that…he must know how much we hate those scum.

  14. MARK GOONER

    stu
im starting to get really worried that hes gona join now
its been 2 weeks of links now and no denial from him.
at firts when i heard this story, i was waiting for vieira to come out and laugh it off saying that he’s an arsenal man and would never join their biggest rivals
but nothing, he goes there, hed be a bigger traitor that cole

  15. Stu

And we already have enough strikers. I wouldnt add another unless its a massive bargain or someone else leaves up front.

  16. Pat

A, its not Mexico’s strongest squad either. Maybe 3-4 quality players missing.

I just started watching and from what I saw, Vela scored the 3rd goal and assisted the 4th

  17. Paulinho

    Cheers Pat.

Berbatov will take off this year. Him and Rooney will be staying central and wrecking havoc.

  18. A

sorry paulinho – didn’t watch much of it, just saw vela’s goal, then few nice things he did after that, then assist. He didn’t start, was 0-0 half time, he came on at half time, final score 5-0, says it all! He played out left with gio dos santos out right, i’d love us to sign gio off spuds, so talented!

Berba has always been the same, absolutely incredible touch when he’s really relaxed, against crap teams, but as soon as he has to actually try as he does with utd when playing someone difficult, with pressure on him, he tenses up and loses his edge. Formations won’t make any difference, he’ll still do very well against crap easy teams, and struggle for utd in the big games.

  19. Confidentgoner

    Stu,

The EPL is more demanding, but take nothing away from Vela, he is in my eyes better at the final ball than Theo and earning far less. Best to ease him in slowly. We still need a striker , a DM and a CB

  20. A

stu – first was a penalty, won by dos santos, scored by torrado. Was a weird penalty, needed to see it again, dos santos with back to goal and backed into defender standing behind him, both fell over. Though defender might have had hold of his shirt, only saw it once or twice couldn’t tell. Second goal was scored by dos santos, didn’t see it. Third was vela’s, dos santos cut in from the right, slid vela through coming in from the left, quite wide though with keeper coming out and he flicked it over him beautifully. 4th was scored by castro, vela got ball in middle of opposition half, went forward with it a bit then slid lovely through ball through and castro finished nicely. 5th was lovely finish by franco from outside area, middle-left of area hit it near post low and hard.

  21. A

Yeah i could see that Pat, gave the americans something else to think about.

Vela could be a big player for us this season, looking forward to him joining the squad. Wonder if he’d be considered for thursday, i’d guess not – probably be the emirates cup first glimpse of him this year. We really do have a lot of attacking options now

  22. luke

VELA LOOKED SO GOOD! Assist, and fucking sweet goal. Without vela, USA 0 Mexico 0. With Vela, Mexico 5, USA 0. VELA!!!!

  23. marzouca

“89°Arsene Wenger always knows what he’s doing. Letting Adebayor go? They’ve got Vela, baby!” haha that will never get old to me.

  24. Paulinho

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Vela should be first choice. He’s twice the player Ade is.

  25. luke

What is the deal with Cattermole and HUntelaar? Is Wenger really going to cough up 70,000 a week for the hunter? Can Cattermole partner Cesc. Are we actually in for either of them? Who knows? Shed some light please

  26. Pat

Vela and Ramsey might be our 2 most promising players.

How many players can say they’ve made Sergio Ramos look like a fool…more than once!!?? And how old was Vela back then?

He’s quality but Wenger has something against him. Who do we play Thursday?? Valencia?

  27. Man

Owen-Berbatov – surely, that’s got to be the least hardworking attack combo in the premier league.

I wouldn’t loose sleep over those two

  28. leon

    pat

its not that wenger is very protective he does not want rush him in,he willplay him a bit more this season but he gradualy bring him in fist time playing in the prem and he still very young

  29. Pat

    Is Cattermole any good defensively?

I don’t care how shit he is going forward. Is he solid? Strong, work rate?

    Help me out someone

  30. Man

Pat, believe me a lamp post would make Sergio Ramos look like a fool! Still, I totally agree with you that Vela is a big prospect I hope he shows more of that talent

  31. luke

Im told Cattermole is a hardworker and hard in the tackle but ive never payed attention. Anyone shed some light please

  32. luke

To me Vela and Bendtner are scarrier then Rooney and Berba. Atleast if they step it up a little bit this year.

  33. Man

Yep, Pat Rooney would partner of those two – whatever the case might be they are certainly weaker. Judjing by Alex’s comments recently, he scared of man shitty – on paper they’ve probably got the best depth of forwards/strikers in the league

  34. Pat

Sergio Ramos was good before Euro 2008. Like many others, he had a bad season.

Same goes to Henry at Juve. I don’t buy the shit that he couldn’t play there. How often have we seen players go to shit(by their standards) after a World Cup or Euro?

  35. Bradys right foot

For all the nonsense written about Arsenal, when you think about are attacking and creative players we are spoilt for choice. When fit and someday they will be all at the same time Wenger can pick Van Persie, Bendtner, Vela, Walcott, Arshavin, Cesc, Rosicky, Nasri and Eduardo plenty of talent and plenty of options.

  36. Man

Luke, at a similar age I would say Parker (west ham) was a better player – Cattermole is round and cries when he loses :)

  37. Pat

We’d be foolish to think their strike force is weak. Rooney is a player that terrifies me, more than CR ever did. He has such an amazing footballing brain, technique, shot, accuracy, teamwork, heart, good pace.

He is such a complete player and my favorite manc player. I hate all the others besides Vidic

  38. Man

Pat, of course you’d be foolish to call their “strike force” weak just like it’ll be foolish for a manc supporter to be on an arsenal blog.
Their “strike force” is weaker than last season surely that is obvious, even red nose has alluded to that.

  39. Stu

Vela is amazing, as is Ramsey. Both of them, along with others, should help the kids win the CC this coming season if Wenger takes the comp seriously.

  40. Stu

Because shity want a high profile signing to show their intent.

Carvalho i agree is a great defender but signing him wouldnt be any near as big as signing the england captain. Regardless of quality because i actually prefer Carvalho….and Alex…..and Ivanovic. Terry is shite

  41. Honest Bill

I like the Chelsea fans claiming Terry was never going to leave, money can’t buy him, he’s far too loyal.

Then why all the silence? clearly Chelsea just had to offer more than City were

  42. Man

I know Stu…but that’s the flaw of their policy. The best way of showing intent would be to finish as high up the table as possible or even win a trophy…when we are talking of a defender that talent should come before profile…I know terry is one of the few defenders with a high profile but I ain’t having it

  43. Stu

I know Man, but since the season hasnt started yet players is the best way to show intent. Why else do you think they bid for Kaka..to get their own profile up and show they were serious about getting the biggest players.

  44. Pat

If CIty offer 15 million pounds for Toure, should we sell? I love Toure, but 15 million could buy you a really great defender, like Zapata.

  45. Man

Stu. Personally, I’d pick Kaka over Ronaldo…now that’s a good enough reason for any ambitious team to bid for him – he is bloody good! Yep he’s got a high profile too
The only intent they’ve shown is an intention to spend and spend loads

  46. luke

Think we gotta keep Toure. Too many new faces if TOure goes. Then we’d have to bring in another CB IMO.

  47. Stu

I would rather not sell Toure to shity because i dont like the idea of strengthening our rivals and not doing so ourselves. Because chances are we wont spend the money we make on someone else.

If we are to sell Toure i would prefer to sell him to another league.

  48. Stu

City are starting off the same was chelsea did.
Average manager buying just above average players from the premiership and other eufa cup teams.

Barry, Tevez, RSC, Ade, De Jong, Taylor etc etc

Its like when chelski bought Parker, Veron, Johnson, Bridge etc etc.

  49. luke

If Crouch has gone to Tottenham, Stuggart deal fell through, and madrid has pretty much literally said, Huntelaar has no place on this team…are we set up to buy the hunter?

  50. A

stu that’s not how chelsea started out!! they signed loads of awesome players, not just average prem players!!

City havn’t got what chelsea had when they started in terms of top players, robinho, tevez are quality, but chelsea in their first summer signed

    robben
    ferreira
    crespo
    cech
    mutu
    veron
    duff
    cech
    joe cole

granted glen johnson was just a young premiership player, scott parker was signed because chelsea were worried about charlton!

  51. Man

Stu…I’m not sure if we are agreeing or disagreeing or stating the obvious…errr at this point I’d put a smiley :) not sure if that is the right smiley for a moment like this ;) there another one, wow i’m on a row! you must be doing something right cos i’ve just used up my repertoire of smileys hick!

  52. Man

don’t think we should hunt for the hunter, higuain on the other hand would be worth gaining…trouble is Real are seeing what i’m seeing

Usmanov ally blasts Adebayor’s City switch

    By Jamie Gardner

    Monday, July 27, 2009

A BUSINESS associate of Arsenal shareholder Alisher Usmanov claims Emmanuel Adebayor should have been sold to “any other club” than direct Champions League rivals Manchester City and questioned whether the Gunners squad is strong enough to finish in the top four of the Premier League.

Farhad Moshiri is a London-based investor with close links to billionaire Russian oligarch Usmanov, who owns around a 25% stake in the club.

Moshiri is “mystified” as to why the Gunners board rejected a rights issue proposed and underwritten by Usmanov this summer which he intended to generate transfer cash for manager Arsene Wenger and also reduce the club’s long-term debt.

Rather than spending, the summer has mainly been about the players leaving the Emirates Stadium and Moshiri insisted the sale of Togo striker Adebayor was a “worrying” development.

“There is no question that it is a talented squad but there have been very limited additions and you cannot help but feel that there is still not enough depth to that squad,” he said.

“To compete on a number of fronts over a long season, especially with the African Cup of Nations when we are going to lose Kolo Toure as well, that is going to make it very difficult.”

Asked whether the club were in danger of slipping out of the top four, he said: “I think there are certain risks but I have confidence in Arsene to keep us within the top four, but you cannot ignore the risk.”

On the subject of Adebayor’s transfer, he added: “He did not have the best of seasons last year so I can understand the fans’ feelings, but the bottom line is we are down a proven striker going into the next season.

“He averaged 20 goals a season so unless we replace him with a striker of that talent we will be weaker going forward. That is the most worrying thing because Manchester City with their enormous firepower are one of the challengers for the fourth spot and I would have felt much better if he had been sold to any other club than Man City.”

Moshiri does not expect there to be much more transfer activity at Arsenal this summer.

“Based on our analysis any money is very limited and possibly spent already and I don’t think there are any spare funds with the exception of Adebayor’s proceeds,” he said.

“Arsenal are the only club in the land that rejects an offer to pay their huge debts in these troubled times, I’m truly mystified.

“It wasn’t just about today, it was about making sure the club was well placed to compete at the highest level of European football for the future.

    interesting

so if you beleieve what you read , which im convinced this statement is ..

its something we wanted to circulate ..
and i for one think other than a new striker
(from the way he’s talking also is all we will get … )

arsene needs to spend the ade money , every red cent of it !!!!

id go with 3 players of about 7 mil sagna quality ,& if 2 out of the 3 come good , well done .., plus wellington for the future .

then you have ade replaced and another one join the 1st team ..a DM would be nice , but i dont thinking he’s done with denilson just yet , he wants to tell us by christmas ‘ i told you so ‘

like that will win a trophy !

It’s a very weird story isn’t it ethan – how does someone who is a complete nobody, and has precisely nothing to do with arsenal, but is just an associate of one of the shareholders, get so much air time?!

Lots of rumours that it’s Dein’s influence getting them the interviews, and part of the continued attempts to manufacture public support for Usmanov to try and help him push a takeover through with these scare tactics.

  56. A

Did you see vela for Mexico today ethan?? Absolutely awesome, he could really have an impact for us this season

    ============

Its because he just spoke out what alot of us are thinking.

  58. David

tactics by Usmanov….so far…what it seems Usmanov is interested in is winning Arsenal trophies…wish i could say the same bout the Board.

David Dein was right all along

  59. David

He’s not an associate of a shareholder he’s a shareholder himself. A shareholder expressing his views on the current situation of the club which alot of us are feeling at the moment. How doesnt that make sense?

  60. A

David – Moshiri is just a business associate of Usmanov, not a shareholder, certainly not a significant shareholder

  61. David

Im pretty sure i read somewhere that he was an “investor” in the club…that might mean alot of things but it does suggest shareholder…..

    but its like Pedro says…

The russian is trying to take over our club because he’s fat and four eyed…which must mean he’s evil.

  62. A

No David, he’s a “London-based investor,” as in that’s his profession, not that he’s a shareholder. All he is is someone who has links with Usmanov, and somehow someone was interested enough in what he has to say to print it, very weird if you ask me.

  63. David

oh my mistake that might be what he is actually…I see what your saying but if I think he had to be linked to Usmanov to make the story credible enough otherwise they might as well have interviewed you or me…or any other fan in the club and it wouldnt have held as much weight.

  64. A

Well yeah David, it isn’t any different from interviewing you and me, it’s a really weird one. It isn’t the credibility I’m confused by as much though, obviously if he’s got links to Usmanov then he’ll toe the Usmanov line, it’s in his interest to make things out to be as bad as is possible so that people think we need Usmanov’s help.

What I’m confused by is why his comments were deemed important enough to make a big news story from, when he’s basically a noone, and he’s saying absolutely nothing that Usmanov didn’t say. It’s really weird. There’s already been a fair amount of speculation that it’s Dein’s doing using his old contacts as if Usmanov gets in then he’ll be straight back in as part of the deal.

  65. A

Still, even if that is the case, it’s still weird that Dein has THAT much power to get what is basically a non-story, from a non-person, getting a big article about it.

  66. A

Still just rumours evo, looks increasingly likely though with Terry staying at Chelsea. We should try and get nearer to £20 mil out of them now that we know they’re desperate as he’s their last real target alongside lescott!

  67. Evo in Oz

yeah i see Terry has finally spoken and committed to the chavs, so no way he will go now!

next game is coming up, so lets see who starts and who plays well. i think we would need Vermaelen and Gallas at CB and then Djourou to take over at half time with one or the other.

  68. A

I dunno about jd evo – gallas and vermaelen to be first choice pairing, so maybe they’ll play 90, play to help them develop an understanding. It’ll be interesting to see if kolo and senderos feature with all the speculation about their futures, eboue too.

I’m just really looking forward to seeing eduardo back, as well as hopefully arshavin, rosicky, wilshere, and cesc all playing together, see them developing an attacking understanding that’ll take europe by storm!

  69. Evo in Oz

yeah i saw Vela’s chip goal, another nice piece of work by him, i hope Wenger bites the bullet this year and gives him time on the pitch to score goals!

Yeah it would be good to watch Eduardo and Rosicky on the pitch at the same time, i will wake up for the game at 3am my time to watch it!

    Cant wait!

  70. Evo in Oz

awesome for him to set up the 2nd and 4th goals too, he was superb!

Timely reminder for Wenger to give him more time this season!

  71. A

Yeah i’m sure one of the reasons Ade was offloaded was to create space for the likes of Vela. It’s a real pity he’s Mexican, having to travel out to South America all the time has really held back his development with us. He would have played so much more if he was European!

  72. gooner-pak

sp*ds get crouch and german club deal down we aret\ the other party, only if we are in and its not just paper talk!!! but then vela performing i think we have surplus strikers….. buy dm wenger

  73. Cartman

    zak is bak Says:
    July 27, 2009 at 06:09

we dont need a dm, we need a cb
    ———–
we cant defend from set pieces and long balls but we do need that facking dm!

  74. zak is bak

why cartman? I guess diaby or song can do the job. If u see the contracts of our defenders, most are expiring next year. I am sure both gallas and toure will leave by the end of the year. we need that fucking tall defender who can deal with the high balls. If Diaby can stay without injuring himself, he is the best for the position considering matuidi is the only option left.

  75. gooner-pak

AW sees song as cb this season he played him in tht posotion last season….every one is shoutin for DM..but it is a fact we need flamini type player to get fab going….or if no dm then denilson and diaby must to step up

  76. Cartman

diaby is far too inconsistent! song, AVERAGE and as gooner-pak said, wenger sees him as a cb!
but i do i agree with wat u said concerning toure and gallas and that’s why i’d like a dm and a cb!

    and pre-season starts in october!
