Missing Cana was missing a trick, but for £5 million???

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I am amazed that Lorik Cana went to Sunderland for £5 million, especially as I was debating with people on here that Marseille didn’t want £20 million for him, but £5 million, surely that was worth a punt?

Arsene you missed a trick there, shame, but Lorik, are you mad? signing for a team that will spend it’s whole life avoiding relegation, still that’s how much the premier league means to Johnny foreigner, they all want to play here.

The one we sold to Man City really reminds me of a clown, I couldn’t think who he looked like, but with his movement, his smiling face every time he screwed up, his crap dances when Eboue scored, his ridiculous hair do’s and now his asking Kolo to join him, he has finally transformed himself into Coco the clown.

I really like Kolo, he has heart, would I like to see him go? No probably not, I still think he could be that defensive midfielder we need and I still think he has a few games left in him as a centre back, but mostly because he kept the Keown and Adams spirit alive in the Arsenal dressing room and that I think we need, Gallas has it too.

I know we have the ACN coming up but if we sold him to City, we wouldn’t spend the money, that just goes into the pot these days, we have to face facts that as long as Arsene is at the helm we are a selling club, or a feeder club to the big boys.

That wasn’t a dig, it’s a fact and the quicker we can get over it the better off we’ll be. We signed one player, we sold one for twice as much and we let 4 go, it’s progress of a kind, and it’s better than we did last season.

It’s a real shame though because I really, truly believe we are just two signings away from greatness, just two, and one of them went to a shit team for £5m million and that’s just too bad.

I still like the look of what we have though, and I hope we start playing the way this new look team will like it played, on the deck and at pace, we have players in this team that can hurt the big teams, players like Arshavin, Rosicky, Cesc and Eduardo that we didn’t have for large parts of last season and with Bendtner up front I think our ariel threat is bigger than it was with Coco, I really do.

With Ramsey and Diaby in the middle as enforcers I think we may just get away with it, but only if they come good, and so far it looks promising, I know, it’s only 2 games, but at least it’s going the right way.

If we can just sort out the defence, we will be stronger than last season, whether that will be enough I don’t know, but it’s squarely on Arsene’s shoulders, and it’s up to this team to prove him right, the good thing is with Everton, City and the Mancs as our first 3 away games, if it’s not working by then, he’ll still have time to buy, but if it is working, then we would have beaten three of our five biggest rivals, so either way these games have come at the right time.

We also get to see Eduardo, Arshavin and Rosicky play together on Monday so that’s something to look forward to.

As a club level member I received my FREE gift today, it was a wash bag, similar to those you get in first class on the airlines, a passport cover with the Emirates stamped on it, a luggage tag, an official Arsenal handbook and DVD, a cheap scarf and a fixture list, and that my friends is why we have no money to spend on players, it was all spent on people like me!

So up yours, I’m more important than you, and that’s why I trust in Arsene, for the presents!

(I’m just kidding, before all the hate mail starts flooding in)

Have a great day Grovers, there’s plenty to think about before Monday.

If anyone was the step up and be Cesc partner then i hope its Ramsey because he is my favourite of the lot for that position.

  2. Pat

Stu, I don’t think so. That would give Cesc more responsibility defending. Song is a better choice for the CDM alongside.

I’d love to see Ramsey in a 3 man midfield though. Give him a role similar to Iniesta.

OR he could be box-to-box a la Gerrard

    he really excites me

  3. Stu

Yeah you’re right Pat. He would be better with less defensive responsibility but i just cant wait to see him dominate the midfield with the likes of Cesc, Rosicky, Arshavin etc…..

IF we are to play 4-5-1 then i would have Ramsey in the attacking midfield role ahead of Cesc every time. I know its not senior level but the way he tore England u-21s a new hole was amazing. They just coundnt do anything to stop him and most of the england team were full prem players.

  4. BOY BETTER KNOW

well as usual the papers are a load of bollocks, will these cunts stop writing about storys that are not true, anything to sell a paper f.f.s

  5. A

Yeah pat i agree, I can see ramsey featuring at times in the iniesta role this season, he’ll certainly get opportunities there, and you never know, if he steps it up and stars there he could push for a first team place in bigger games

  6. A

Stu i wouldn’t have Ramsey there ahead of Cesc EVERY time! If it’s rosicky left, nasri right, then arshavin first choice in that role. After that though Ramsey and Wilshere could certainly be pushing diaby, theo and vela for next in line, obviously diaby and ramsey more often central, and theo right, vela left, wilshere either right or left

  7. BOY BETTER KNOW

how does anyone get it into there head that vela, diaby, wilshere, ramsey, walcott can help you win a trophy

  8. Stu

No no no A, you’ve got it all wrong. I mean if we play that shit 4-5-1 like last season where Cesc was pushed up the pitch. I mean i would rather Ramsey there every time instead of Cesc. Im not saying Ramsey should always start ahead of Cesc because he obviously isnt better,

  9. Kevin

BBK before i go, can i ask who would YOU buy to change things around. You often criticize our youth project so what would you do differently.

  10. Stu

Interestingly stats show that Diaby was miles better than Anderson last season ad he helped united win a trophy. ;)

Not that Anderson is vital to the mancs but you get my point….oh and i also hate Diaby so in no way am i saying he should start.

  11. BOY BETTER KNOW

wouldn’t you rather watch a video of rosicky lifting the same trophys as ronaldo did,ran all that way to give away a corner

  12. A

bbk how does anyone get it into there head that fletcher, park, evans, o’shea, rafael, anderson can help you win a trophy

Ah ok stu, i’d have to disagree there! Cesc always to play ahead of ramsey even in the more advanced role. He still offers us alot there even if he can’t have the overall influence on games. I don’t think he will be playing there much though, It’ll be cesc alongside a DM, rosicky, arshavin, nasri, and vp, bendy, eduardo up top

Just realised writing that that far too many combinations for there to be one line up you can say “that’s what we’ll play most of the time”, it’ll vary all the time

  13. BOY BETTER KNOW

what i would do differently is not by youth players and expect them to perform to the level that we require to win things

  14. Kevin

We in debt. So i can see why wenger does it. He doesn’t do it out of choice. But because it gives him the ability to buy very good technical players, cheaply.

  16. Kevin

lol you will not give in will you. please don’t think i enjoy our recent barren spell. It’s just i can take it, and accept it because it’s for the greater good of the club.

BBK all i no is…………………..that these youngsters will win us the premier league title. You’ll see.

  19. Evo in Oz

    gday all,

the worrying fact is if Toure signs with Citeh, we definitely wont replace him, the money will just go into the debt repayments and his replacement will be Senderos, so the squad depth with be -1 or -2 if you count Adebayor going and not being replaced either.

that is my major worry is that we are losing our head count of players. we need a big squad to challenge for the trophies and create competition amongst the players for spots in the starting 11!

  21. A

Evo Sendy is going as well, though I’d be happy if he stayed and replaced toure!

central defence is somewhere that we have more squad depth than anywhere else in the league, we could lose both sendy and toure and numbers wise we’d be absolutely fine!

  22. BOY BETTER KNOW

central defence is somewhere that we have more squad depth than anywhere else in the league, we could lose both sendy and toure and numbers wise we’d be absolutely fine!apart from gallas what quality would there be left for us to be fine

  23. Gunnersmith

BOY BETTER KNOW At least Rosicky gave away something
Stu the link was posted by another grover i just thought it’s good if i post the real video saving you the energy of going to youtube

  24. A

you need to learn to read bbk “numbers wise we’d be absolutely fine”

numbers wise, we currently have gallas, vermaelen, toure, senderos, song, jd, silvestre

    that’s 7 centre backs!

lose sendy and toure and we’ve still got 5 centre backs, which is more than everyone else still

  25. BOY BETTER KNOW

yeah and i asked you what quality would there be apart from gallas, sorry i should of put it in a better context

  26. A

When we went invincible we had sol and toure, and after that cygan was our only real sub defender, apart from a completely fucked keown on his last legs managed 3 league starts….

our sub right back was justin hoyte, sub left back was an 18 year old clichy

defensively we’ve got much more depth now than we had then imo

  27. A

have to wait and see bbk, if kolo and sendy go i think we need to sign someone, as out of our three subs, song, jd, and silvestre, song is the only one i’d trust.

hopefully though, as with the invincibles, we wouldn’t have many injuries and gallas and vermaelen can be a wonder partnership

  28. A

Wenger and the scouts have obviously done their homework on Vermaelen, they’d watched 30-40 of his matches, and even watched him in training with Ajax twice, and went in for him as soon as the last game of the season ended. I really expect him to become a top top player for us.

I reckon Gallas is being kept around for a year to help bed him in, then he’ll have a new partner at the end of the season, who could even be brought in this season and given games as well. I just really hope Wenger doesn’t feel JD is that man. Song though I wouldn’t necessarily object to being given a chance or two to prove he’s got what it takes to be a defender

  29. BOY BETTER KNOW

well judging by the game against barnet and the goal we conceded with that partnership it wil be as you are when defending set pieces

  30. BOY BETTER KNOW

in order for us to gain a better defensive record we need to learn how to defend as a unit, untill that happens we will ship in the goals

  31. Evo in Oz

A – i disagree. you only have to look back one season to last season to see that one of our major problems (other than not scoring enough goals) was the defence. Toure started off the season with Malaria. Then he had that shoulder injury.

Gallas was in good form, but then missed the last 3rd of the season with injury. The replacements in Djourou and Silvestre werent good enough, so then turning Song as backup was the only other solution.

Despite going all those games unbeaten – a lot of them were draws where we conceeded goals

  32. A

lol bbk you actually judging something from the game against barnet?!

I agree we need to improve our defending as a unit, having a leader like vermaelen should certainly help that aspect, give us some direction and organisation at the back

  33. A

    evo i said in numbers

we’ve got 7 central defenders at the moment

with the invincibles we had 3, 4 if you count keown even though he could barely play, and number 3 was cygan

utd have evans and brown after ferdinand and vidic

liverpool only have carragher, skrtel, and agger

we already have more centre backs than the rest, even if we sell both sendy and kolo!

it’s irrelevant whether replacements are good enough in our opinion, because they aren’t just going to be forgotten about, jd isn’t going to go anywhere anytime soon, though silvestre won’t play much i doubt. If both of them go though we COULD sign another one, but it’s far from certain.

If gallas and vermaelen can stay fit, as sol and toure did in the invincibles season then we’d be fine, and after that i’d throw song in ahead of jd.

  34. Evo in Oz

bro the main point is, if injuries come – a la Nasri, things change. your merely sitting there saying things will be fine. I like your optimistic views as thats the way i like to be, however i merely prefer a larger squad and thats what im sticking to.

  35. A

yeah but evo, we’ve already got a larger squad than everyone else, you can’t have infinite numbers of players on the pay roll! We can’t just employ 6th choice centre backs who literally won’t play a game unless there are 3/4 injuries, that just isn’t realistic. I agree I’d like a big squad, but that’s what we’ve got, we currently have an absolutely huge squad, just lacking in one area, a DM. Whether the quality is adequate in other areas is questionable, but in terms of numbers our squad is ridiculous.

  36. BOY BETTER KNOW

yep im judging the goals we conceded against barnet and that team we beat 7-1,if we can’t keep clean sheets in them sorts of games how are we supposed to take that sort of defensive form into the league and progress,we shipped a load of goals in last pre season and carried on doing the same in the league,we have to cut out the you score one we score two mentality….

  37. A

lol bbk come on you know more about football than that. The first 3 or 4 pre season friendlies mean literally nothing, positive nor negative. The only purpose of them is to get fit, they shouldn’t even be televised just so people who don’t understand football can’t try and judge players or performances!

Last season we conceded goals in pre season, then conceded one goal in our first six games….

Last time we drew with barnet in our first pre season game, was in 03/04, the invincibles….

  38. BOY BETTER KNOW

but a we need to be better defensively if we are to progress, and in these sorts of games they should not be concedeing against these shit teams

  39. A

bbk it’s pre season, the performances and results don’t matter at all!! Utd, chelsea, liverpool all losing and drawing, conceding loads of goals against malaysian and singaporian teams etc, it means absolutely zilch.

Wait until the emirates cup, that’s when it starts becoming about the performances and the results, before that it’s simply a run around so that the players build up their fitness

  40. BOY BETTER KNOW

the game in the c.league qualifier is make or break for us this season if we fail to make it into that there will be even more questions being raised, for me the game against barnet was a chance to stamp out the defensive frailties we posses but we couldn’t do it then we go and let in a stupid goal against that team the other day,it’s not good enough

  41. BOY BETTER KNOW

chelsea have conceded one goal in there pre season so far as for man u they can do what they like they have achieved so much in these past couple of years, liverpool had a good season aswell finishing 2nd,we need to be on the money straight away as we have the most to prove

  42. BOY BETTER KNOW

These cunts need a defensive drilling, george graham style badly if we are to be succesful again…..

    Vieira, WTF are you doing?

DOnt join those mugs, you are past your prime but still this will be a hero to zero move.

    And Kalou, god please no,

  44. Rohan

hell no, he does have some moments of magic but he is defo not worth 17million… i don’t really see where he would fit in our system too..
not to mention that horrendous penalty he missed against us in the cl..that put me off.

  45. tonyadamsisgod

“He’s thinking: ‘I had a great time at Arsenal and now I want to come and be a great player for Tottenham for a couple of years”

No he’s not you twitchy twat! He’s thinking here’s a good way to become a big fish in a little pond and earn some bucks while doing it!

“It will even it out with Sol Campbell perhaps”

Er, yeah thats right Harry, you signing a 33 year old midfielder who’s over the hill and injury prone and who’s current club doesn’t even rate him is just the same as us signing the country’s best centre back at the time while he was in his prime and helped us to win some trophies!

    Dick!

    Oh, morning all!

  46. tonyadamsisgod

    SAF on Adebayor:

“When someone offers you that kind of money, it is a big attraction,” Ferguson said. “That is the reason they have gone there. At the last minute, from what I can gather, either Emmanuel Adebayor or his agent phoned us after they had agreed a deal with City and then did the same with Chelsea. He was desperate to get to either Chelsea or us.”

And Adebayor wonders why we hate him! Jeeeesssuuuus!

  47. tonyadamsisgod

Morning Rohan. We shouldn’t be surprised I guess. Jus makes his commens about the fans driving him out even more rediculous! Some people want nothing more than money, money, money!

  48. tonyadamsisgod

Anyone watch the Man City game yesterday? I didn’t but my mate did and he said Adebayor had a shocker! happy times! :D
