I am amazed that Lorik Cana went to Sunderland for £5 million, especially as I was debating with people on here that Marseille didn’t want £20 million for him, but £5 million, surely that was worth a punt?
Arsene you missed a trick there, shame, but Lorik, are you mad? signing for a team that will spend it’s whole life avoiding relegation, still that’s how much the premier league means to Johnny foreigner, they all want to play here.
The one we sold to Man City really reminds me of a clown, I couldn’t think who he looked like, but with his movement, his smiling face every time he screwed up, his crap dances when Eboue scored, his ridiculous hair do’s and now his asking Kolo to join him, he has finally transformed himself into Coco the clown.
I really like Kolo, he has heart, would I like to see him go? No probably not, I still think he could be that defensive midfielder we need and I still think he has a few games left in him as a centre back, but mostly because he kept the Keown and Adams spirit alive in the Arsenal dressing room and that I think we need, Gallas has it too.
I know we have the ACN coming up but if we sold him to City, we wouldn’t spend the money, that just goes into the pot these days, we have to face facts that as long as Arsene is at the helm we are a selling club, or a feeder club to the big boys.
That wasn’t a dig, it’s a fact and the quicker we can get over it the better off we’ll be. We signed one player, we sold one for twice as much and we let 4 go, it’s progress of a kind, and it’s better than we did last season.
It’s a real shame though because I really, truly believe we are just two signings away from greatness, just two, and one of them went to a shit team for £5m million and that’s just too bad.
I still like the look of what we have though, and I hope we start playing the way this new look team will like it played, on the deck and at pace, we have players in this team that can hurt the big teams, players like Arshavin, Rosicky, Cesc and Eduardo that we didn’t have for large parts of last season and with Bendtner up front I think our ariel threat is bigger than it was with Coco, I really do.
With Ramsey and Diaby in the middle as enforcers I think we may just get away with it, but only if they come good, and so far it looks promising, I know, it’s only 2 games, but at least it’s going the right way.
If we can just sort out the defence, we will be stronger than last season, whether that will be enough I don’t know, but it’s squarely on Arsene’s shoulders, and it’s up to this team to prove him right, the good thing is with Everton, City and the Mancs as our first 3 away games, if it’s not working by then, he’ll still have time to buy, but if it is working, then we would have beaten three of our five biggest rivals, so either way these games have come at the right time.
We also get to see Eduardo, Arshavin and Rosicky play together on Monday so that’s something to look forward to.
As a club level member I received my FREE gift today, it was a wash bag, similar to those you get in first class on the airlines, a passport cover with the Emirates stamped on it, a luggage tag, an official Arsenal handbook and DVD, a cheap scarf and a fixture list, and that my friends is why we have no money to spend on players, it was all spent on people like me!
So up yours, I’m more important than you, and that’s why I trust in Arsene, for the presents!

Its a tough call to say Gallas is our best defender. Yes he can score the odd goal, but he is slow and gets beaten on the one on one, and injury prone. I prefer to keep a proper Arsenal legend, Toure and Sell Gallas

Gallas is the better individual defender imo. Marginally better at reading the game imo, more experienced also imo and isnt erratic like Toure.

Well, give me Toure and Hangelland and you have a rock solid partnership. Gallas is better heading balls in the oppo box than defending headers in our box. He is marginally better than Senderos. Toure never recovered from the ANC, b4 he was put back to duty. Anyway, we are loosing Toure, so life goes on. If he get Hagelland, then fine. I see our CdM position rotated among Song (1st choice whether Geoff like him or not), Diaby 2nd (if he improves his stamina and passing) and Dennilson (3rd choice)

I dunno, I’ve seen a fair bit of kalou. He’s got ability, but is pretty much the opposite of Bendy. Bendy has an incredible footballing brain, but bit slow and clumsy at times, kalou has good physical attributes, very good feet and quick, but doesn’t have it in terms of his intelligence, and I think that’s a bigger limitation than bendy’s.
Kalou to me is more of a babel, could certainly be worked upon, but the lack of intelligence will prevent him becoming a top top player, but I think bendy could be. Also bendy’s intelligence means he fits in and is on the same wavelength as arshavin and cesc, whereas kalou would have skills and speed, but wouldn’t be able to link up with the others.

You keep saying the guy is too slow but I have watched him contain our strikers and other strikers. I think he is one of the rated defenders last season. Our crew did not come close.
Having said that defence is a partnership, so Hangelland could work with a faster defender, maybe Vermaleen.

confident he’s contained people because fulham play soooo deep, that it’s impossible to get in behind them, their defending style is the complete opposite to ours. Hangeland playing against Peterborough Utd was made to look very silly when they actually tried to push forward so he was around the halfway line, and they broke, because he’s so slow both in speed, and turning, that he just can’t cope. That’s what position our defence is in over half the time, on the halfway line with us dominating possession in the opposition half. He really isn’t very good, and nowhere near good enough for us imo. MUCH MUCH rather Senderos stayed.
Yeah that’s an issue re eboue, if kolo stayed i would have thought he’d cover, but if he leaves then it’ll be interesting. Lansbury could possibly cover, or maybe Richards in the deal with kolo as a sub right back.

We were vulnerable from long balls and headers in our box. Hanngelland is no sprinter, so like mosrt defenders, he will man mark near the half way line. Thats why you need a sprinter next to him. The trick is to man mark near the half way line and to disrupt the oppo counter attack. Barca does it so well. How fast is Pique?

I love Eddy.He looks clinical, but we cannot assess him properly till he plays most matches, yes? He is expected to be good but has not yet fulfilled the potential. The jury is out. In the EPL, Ade has a goal to shot ratio with the best- Ronaldo, Torres – Fact. We hate him for disloyalty, thats another isuue. I dont think he was lazy, just that AW overworked him and frustrated him as a lone striker without a good midfield support. He is not a magician. Blame AW for not replacing midfielders!

Most CBs are not that fast. The fast defenders are often the full backs. Watch a good team, they man- mark, their opponents high up in the pitch so b4 he moves with the ball, he is challenged or fouled. Most EPL strikers would outrun defenders anyway. I see no evidence that Pique is fast. I watched him against Chelsea. His strong points are good tackles, good blocking and good in the air, same with Hagelland. Canavaro is supposed to be fast, but gets beaten for speed by strikers. Its not as simple as abc!
