Ade, going, going… Now is the time to have a real clear out Arsene.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So that made me laugh yesterday, Adebayor is having a work permit meeting in Manchester, so what the hell does that mean? He didn’t have one playing for us?

On the BBC, it says Ade has asked to sleep on it overnight as he is concerned how it would go down in Togo! No thought for his beloved Arsenal then? That’s his Goose well and truly cooked.

I had to laugh at old boy Robson yesterday, saying Tevez only moved for the money, ha, ha, so £28 million each on Rooney, Ferdinand and Veron when £10 million to everyone else was a fortune had nothing to do with money then, what a complete muppet hypocrite.

The thought of losing a big lump like him to our new biggest rivals fills me with dread, but the thought of getting rid of a lazy trouble maker that loves himself and depositing £25 million in our bank account excites me more. But only if he spends the money.

I would be tempted to ask for Richards, give them Kolo and spend £28 million on newer, better players, Talk is of Hazard, I like the look of him but he really is in the Wilshere mode, one for the future, what we need to challenge next year is a world class partner for Cesc, one because that would lift the team and two because without that we will be lucky to finish in the top 4, that’s my opinion.

So who are the candidates? Matuidi, Inler and Cana as Melo has all but gone, I must confess I don’t know enough about any of them save that they run a lot, shut down and win the ball, a bit like Ray Parlour and that’s what I think has been lacking. I keep mentioning Flamini but I know a lot of you have mixed feelings, I can’t understand why the boss can never bury his pride, it smacks of sulking, we all make mistakes and if the boss was so keen to keep him in the first place, he should be just as keen to bring him back, plus he would be the cheaper option and he knows the Premiership. Graham did it to great effect with Keown and he was one of Wenger’s stalwarts.

I also like the look of Numbchucks, but he would be off the the ACN so I would steer clear of him, if Wenger sells Eboue, Kolo and Adebayor that would only leave Song in the ACN and as he is not a first choice centre back, that may work. As we wouldn’t be losing a key member of the squad when we need him the most. He also needs to decide whether we need Senderos and Djourou, I like them both but will they make it? So maybe we should be looking at another centre back like Naldo, and if we get Richards as well we will have two players in every position along the back and bring in much needed cash.

So to sum up, if we sold Eboue, Djourou, Senderos, Kolo and Ade we could easily bring in £45 million and that would comfortably bring us in a world class centre back and defensive midfielder with enough left to land Micah Richards and Eden Hazard.

And the last two both want to play for us, so that is a massive bonus. Apparently Arsenal have sent people to talk to his parents in Belgium.

We will never have a better chance to improve our squad and we haven’t done that since 2003 so it’s about time, no one can say that we don’t have the money now because we clearly do and we would be losing some high wage earners so therefore saving even more money.

Come on Arsene, do the right thing, we may have lost Villa as a rival but Man City are a different proposition. Give us all some hope because selling Ade and not making hay while the sun shines will only leave us a much weakened side.

Have a great day Grovers, something will happen today!

  1. Honest Bill

I think it would be a bit hasty to get rid of all those centre backs. JD and Senderos i could live with, but i’d rather keep Kolo.

But yes, what we really need is a DM who is already class. I don’t care who it is as long as he’s good

  2. Jimbo

you bet LaZer, I’ve wanted Wenger gone for a long, long time.

It became clear after 2005 that he was in the process of flushing the club down the toilet, chasing his own personal ideologies, and I want no part of his silly fantasy any more.

I’ve wanted Wenger gone for quite a while.

  3. Franchise

say good bye to the top 4 (as things stand)

matuidi would offer us no salvation. FACT

only God knows what is going through Arsene’s mind

  4. jules

    Jimbo

where i share your frustration and we have said it so many times ; I really believe we are only two quality players away from doing the business but we don,t buy them and this has been the case for a while now .

the whole world can see we need a quality d m to play with cesc , we have song diaby denilson all not good enough . for fuck sake sell 1 or 2 and get 1 fucking good one !!!!

  5. wardo

Jimbo, who would you get to replace Wenger then ??

Lazer, bang on if you did say that mate. Jimbo has no idea whatsoever about football or Arsenal. He blogs shite everyday

  6. Jay

I dunno ! I deff think we should sell silvestre, Dij, song/den (one of them, not sure..) even Eboue… plus Ade like u said..however Senderos is a ? for me…i’d keep him in the sqaud this time…

bring in a CB (who can cover right) Hazard, Matu cos hes young and then that Champion CDM..that we so can’t agree on…

  7. freduardo

i’d hate to see JD leave, I reckon he will be a top CB and would rather see Sylvestre, Senderos and Toure leave before him (and Diaby).

  8. LAzer

rude? Rude would have been if I told him he is a disloyal cunt and should look to support other disloyal cunts. But I didn’t. So it wasn’t rude. Anyways, no offense intended by the chavs comment Duke and I hope Jimbo didn’t take any.

  9. Dan

I’ve always thought JD will become a top quality CB. But as he was brought on as a CDM then why has he never had a chance there, be can’t be worse than what we already have there

  10. Sparrow

Rohan, hopefully he is not a tosser like ronaldo!!

Good post, forgot all about the ACN, we shouldn’t go for Chamakh then, unless he has faith in Bendtner!!

  11. Jimbo

Nah, I didn’t take any LAzer – believe me, I know I’ve got strong views, so I can understand that people might feel put out by them.

But I believe them 110%, and I believe they really do stand up to scrutiny.

  12. gnarleygeorge9

The moment that song was sung Adebayor give him the ball, etc etc was the beginning of the end for him. His head became bigger than Sir Fur-on-Tongues liver.

  13. LAzer

And he hasn’t earned a yellow or red yet Wardo. What’s going on here Geoff/Pedro? Not the way I left le-grove several weeks ago.

  14. Jimbo

Rohan, seriously, I go through this every time.

This is what I wrote on the other blog:

    Rohan,

We’ve been down this route too many times, and I’ve suggested a number of alternatives. Generally speaking, I want a manager who’s intelligent enough to bring balance to the team, which Wenger obviously seems totally out of touch with.

But who we get depends on who’s available. Now would be an ideal time to get rid though, with money in the bank and most of our players tied down to long contracts. I’d rather do it now than wait until next summer, when we’re looking at playing in the Europa league.

  15. cartmanknowsbetter

this year shud be make or break for diaby imo! we cant allow to nuture young players anymore, especially that matuidi. i cant see what he can offer us!

  16. Mayank

Why ruiln a settled squad by selling all these players. I would prefer that we brought a DM with the Ade money and if ant remains we should get a young RW and that’s it.

  17. wardo

If wenger does not get the £25mm to spend then we should direct our frustration towards the board. They tell lies. PHW is detached from reality. Can’t say I like one member of our board…

However, what manager would be able to replace Wenger atm ?? If we had loads of funds to spend then maybe there would be another choice but as we dont, then getting rid of wenger would be a bad decision……

  18. Mark C

    I totally agree.

If we do get 25 mill, then that needs to be spent on players.

a proper CM first, and then perhaps a wide player or a striker.

  19. Duke

Fair enough LAzer, the thing is I can understand Jimbo’s frustration, if we did replace Wenger in 2005 would we be worse off and out of CL a few years back? Or would we have won a PL, a CL and a few cups?

  20. Sparrow

I think we should bring in someone like Bergkamp as an ASS Manager so he can be groomed to take over from Wenger

  21. freduardo

if chamakh has a release clause of 6 or 7 mil (which i think I saw somewhere) then he might be a bit of a bargain.. i dont believe in Walcott up front at the minute. his decision making and finishing are lacking imo.

  22. Franchise

say what u wish but this team looks quite strong on paper

    ………………..Given…………………..

    Richards…….Kompany…….Dunne……….Bridge

    …………..Barry……….De Jong…………..

    …………………Ireland…………………..

    Tevez…………………………………Robinho

  23. ArsenalKenya

To all you slating Arsenal fans in Africa….

THE FACT IS WE ARE SO HAPPY AND WE WERE AT TIMES WORRIED WHEN NO OFFERS CAME IN FOR HIM., BUT NOW ONE CAME IN WE WERE UNITED WITH THE FANS WHO KEPT VIGIL AT THE EMIRATES TO LET THE TRANSFER GO THRU SUCCESSFUL!

CHAMAKH IS A GOOD PLAYER(RONALDO STYLE ) AND WILL WORK HIS SOCKS OFF.

WE ARE VERY HAPPY ABOUT ADEBAYOR LEAVING ARSENAL!! HE DOESN’T REPRESENT ARSENAL VALUES.

LET HIM DO IT BEST AT MANCITY

  24. LAzer

Anyways…in regards to the post. I reckon we do either of two things, splash the cash like we have never done before and bring in 1 big big player who might make or break our season (who knows, with our shit luck he’d get injured for the season or something) or add a winger,cb and dm,typical Wenger type signings but better then what we have on the bench right now. Atleast some players who can push the current squad for a starting spot.

Nasri-player of the year, you heard it here first.

  25. Jimbo

Chamakh is a Ronaldo style player?

He looks a bit like Ronaldo, but he’s sure as fuck not good. Wenger’s a complete moron if he buys him.

  26. abnet

how fucked up the chity boys are 25 mil for that togo twat we are lucky very lucky imagin anather year with his atitude

  27. GMR

Mayank – I agree with that statement 100%. I believe Bould is being groomed as the next manager & will have a very good idea about which youngsters will make it & who he needs to bring in when the time comes.

  28. Duke

If we sign Chamakh we will be the laughing stock of the French League, and then the EPL after people see him play.

  29. LAzer

The happiest man at ashburton grove has to be Bendtner if the transfer goes through. It’s now or never for him this year.

  30. Jimbo

And Bouldy will also be completely clueless about European football.

He needs to be first team assistant manager, not youth team coach.

  31. Paulinho

Luckily he didn’t take a footballing IQ test Choy. If they existed.

“Emmanuel, your are two yards ahead of the last defender, are you offside or onside?”

    Manu: “Er, er, er, onside?”

  32. Gunner8

    ————–Almunia
    Djourou—Gallas—Vermaelen—Clichy
    Wilshere—Denilson—Nasri—Rosicky
    —————–Arshavin
    ————Eduardo

Could start against Barnet nice line-up!

Mannone, Silvestre, Traore, Senderos could be on the bench

  33. Sparrow

Jimbo, we can drug bergy just like Mr T “I ain’t getting on no plane, fool”, just put something in his milk! lol

  34. Mayank

Bould to me is a mixture of the good qualities of Wenger and GG. The only question is can he handle the pressure and the egos. If he can we’ve got our own Pep.

  35. LAzer

Been barely browsing all the transfer speculation this summer but I have to say I never thought I would be so excited with an Arsenal player departing. Had to come on and see what all the grovers are buzzing about.

  36. GMR

Why would Bould be completely clueless about European football? He would no doubt have exactly the same access to Wenger’s contacts to find out about any players he wanted. It’s even possible that Bould would be prepared to manage the club with Wenger as the director of football as they have a good relationship already.

  37. KM in WALES

hi guys.Good Morning y’all :) firstly very happy abt Ade transfer news, however i would have been happier if he had gone to Italy….oh well. Wenger has to get a DM with this money & he will probably get Chamakh as well as he has stated. And with the spare change get Hazard while ur at it. I was listening to Talkshite radio y’day & Ian Wright (cunt?) & this other guy were spreading doom and gloom abt Arsenal y’day saying Arsenal fans should be ‘PETRIFIED’ cos we’r losing ADE!? where the fukk have these clowns been all season? Haven’t they realised that Ade has been a lazy bastard all season?!? Ian Wright pisses me off so much,he sounds like a right dick! On the Ade transfer thats still 50-50 as Mark Hughes that talks are at a initial stages.Imo if Ade is driven by money then he’l definately go.I think he’s also burnt his bridges with Wenger so both will be glad to see the back of each other. The Matuidi & Chamakh link have gone all quiet – i believe there is a chance that Wenger has sorted the deals out & is waiting for the money to come in frm the Ade transfer.

  38. Jimbo

No GMR, I meant having absolutely no experience managing in European games, or indeed managing grown-ups.

If he wants to take over at Arsenal, he needs to replace Pat Rice, not manage the youth team.

He doesn’t have remotely enough experience.

  39. jules

    Guys

Where have all the d m rumours gone . this is the position we need the most .

also would like to see huntelaar instead of chamake

  40. Jimbo

I love it how people think Hazard is just going to cost ‘spare change’ – he’s one of the brightest prospects in Europe, should cost significantly more than an utterly shite player like Chamakh.

  41. Cartman

if bould is named no 2 next year, then u can be sure he’ll be the who’ll replace wenger, at least that’s my opinion!

  42. GMR

Mayank – I can’t see why not. He is clearly a very calm person & he handled the pressure as a player. Most managers will tell you it’s harder to manage kids with ego’s than experienced players. Kids are mostly not prepared to listen & think they’re better than that actually are, so he’s doing a good job already on that score.

  43. Paulinho

Maybe Wenger and Bould can swap positions. Bould has never had experience of managing grown ups, and Wenger has had enough of it, it seems.

  44. jules

    buy buy buy wenger .

as I said im not with Jimbos,s opinion (yet!)

but if we don,t invest this money in a fucking good quality dm , i will be very fucked off with Wenger .

  45. Franchise

Barca backed Pep with their cheque book

    would Arsenal Board back Bould?

In a scenario where he cant get his targets cos of a lack of backing Bould and Arsenal would be doomed

  46. LAzer

Huntelaar would be ace imo. He is clinical, simple as. AND his agent commented that although a fee has been accepted from Stuttgart, the player is yet to agree. Am sure he would like to play CL at this stage in his development and after all the fellow was the first one to ever net at the Emirates so perhaps its meant to be.

  47. jules

in saying that , I can really see us buying chamakh and matuidi and thats it , the change will be kept and we will have some more not the finished article players to go with the not the finished article players that we already have ,( and will win fuck all)

  48. GMR

Jimbo – So what if he doesn’t have experience of managing in european games?? That doesn’t mean he’d fail.

I’d rather someone take over that knows the club than someone foreign coming in who would just do away with the youth system because they don’t know any of the players in it & then want 200 million to spend on players because thats what the other big clubs are doing.

  49. AK

i agree wid u.. v shud sell senderos ade n eboue.. bt nt kolo.. hez gud.. but v sure need a back up.. n naldo luks gud.. coz kolo myt wel b leavin us next season.. n as for d DM.. i think matuidi seems gud.. also AW shud consider bringin flamini bck.. cana n inler r gud 2..

  50. wardo

KM Wales…….well its a shame they didn’t have Ray Parlour on their panel !!! Did you see what he said bout Ade yesterday ?????? He basically said that Ade was “Lazy”, did not “fight” for the gunners and generally lacked conviction……….coming from someone like Ray is brilliant. Ray was a real fighter, had loads of spirit and worked his socks off…oh and he loved Arsenal!

  51. Mayank

And Bould focusses on set-pieces adn defence more than Wenger, if anything he might have an edge over Wenger in Europe.

  52. AK

chamakh iz gud.. but lacks d finishing i think.. saw sum of his videos.. has gud touches.. but d finishin iz quite avg..

  53. LAzer

Pull a few rabbits out of the hat Wenger! as GG and MJ wud say…chaaaammmooooneeee!!

Now is the time. Get us an Arshavin, an Eduardo, a Sagna but for the DM role. Or a genuine winger so Arshavin can play SS.

  54. jules

    Would,nt suprise me Bill .

so frustrating , just sign huntelaar and dirra or alonso or someone of that quality and we would do the business !!

    can,t see it though

  55. Jimbo

He doesn’t know what to expect though, does he Mayank.

On top of which, he’s never managed grown ups either.

Doesn’t mean he’d fail, but the guy just doesn’t have much experience.

  56. clockendjim

I would be very sad to see Wenger go. However I do not think he can stretch the ‘we are building for the future’ story to 5 years if we do not win anything this coming season.
Hopefully with £25m in the bank for offloading that waster Adebayor, he will never have a better chance to do the right thing and strengthen our weaknesses, especially signing a Flamini type (how about Flamini ?). If he still sticks with just what we have now, then I fear the worst and he will run out of excuses.
Except for moneybags Man City, all the other top teams look as if they may be losing important players so we have a real great chance of being Champions – its down to Arsene now !

  57. barnetgooner

Why would you want to sell Djourou and Toure? That’s just crazy talk – Micah Richards is nowhere near as good as either of them. Getting rid of Ade, Eboue and possibly Traore/Senderos would be a good idea and raise some funds but we need to keep onto our good players – Kolo and JD fall under that cateogry

  58. Franchise

    keita €14m
    Pique €5m
    Caceres €16.5m
    Dani Alves €29m
    Hleb €15m
    Henrique €8m
    Pinto €0.5m

    total = €88m

  59. jules

    Bill

agree , was using alonso as an example , i just mean get an finished article not another prospect .

we only two quality players to challenge but i bet as usual we will end up with two prospects

  60. Geoff

I hate to sound like an AKB but I can’t believe Wenger hasn’t got this covered, I’m sure this was the plan and he has his ducks lined up.

You don’t sell Ade by accident, do you?

  61. Mayank

Theor Main purchase was Alves for 25m i think, they got Pique for free and also got Hleb… They sold Ronaldinho for an undisclosed fee, besides deco.

  62. Davi

You’re nuts. What happened to keeping the squad together?
They’re all going to be stronger next year. What we really need to do if (when) ade leaves is replace him with a good striker in case eduardo and rvp suffer from injuries next year and try to get that DM we’ve been craving.
Apart from that we’ll have a very strong squad.
If anyone else *wants to leave, then fine we will replace them.
Djourou is going to be absolutely world class btw, it baffles me that anyone would want to get rid of him…

  63. Franchise

    their exits were €49.5m

    so they spent net €38.5m

which isnt exactly a lot but they are a team with a culture of spending vast amounts every window unlike us over the last few years

  64. Franchise

Pique wasnt on loan Mayank he was stolen from Barca youth team the same way we stole cesc. where have u been?

  65. Mayank

Anyway wasn’t the stadium build so we could compete with the Barcas. Wenger has always said his main priority is for the next manager to have good conditions to work in. We’ll be spending considerably more when Bould takes over.

  66. gambon

Mayank, get the facts right, Pique wasnt on loan…UTD did a Fabregas on him, they paid €6m to bring him back.

  67. Arsenal Tom

jimbo… was in the daily mail this morning… not the most reliable though but they put him in front of chamakh as ade’s replacement.

geoff i agree… i reckon the plan was get vermaelen to keep everyone happy then use the ade money to finish up the rest of the singings and replacements

  68. KM in WALES

Franchise – i think City need a left winger to bring balance maybe?unless they play like Chelsea where the full backs are wing backs. But on the whole they are strong. It all depends on the manager now as he has the tools he needs.Personally i dnt rate Hughes highly as an ‘elite’ manager. If he gets City to 5th i’l change my opinion. I think they are a threat which makes the EPL so exciting nxt season. JIMBO & DUKE – what would u do if we bought him & he has a good season? The FACT is this he won the title last year & he played a key role in that.Personally i wnt judge him until he plays a season as i dnt watch him regularly.I remember reading mixed opinions on Torres when he moved to L’pool but he proved his doubters wrong…. CHOY i like the idea abt getting Petrov – awesome winger & v.direct.

  69. Mayank

Oh yeah sorry about that. I though he was at Man U for a year so it must’ve been a loan. BTW how’d you get the stats, i could only manage the INS. But if we’ve spent 28m GBP on arsh and Verm i think we can spend about €40m for a new mangager.

  70. ongwj

darn, whats going to happen on arsenal next? They have sell off they proven scorer…

I pretty worry about this, now left with only VanPersie&Walcott… Both of them are inconsistent..

  71. MB

Jimbo confused as to who you think could manage Arsenal. It is becoming clearer by the day that Wenger has a Wiganesq transfer budget since he buildng of the new stadium yet year on year we have competed against teams we far bigger budgets. Wenger is far from perfect however at the moment I would be ever more concerned (than I already am) if he were not at the helm. Personally think the board are to blame as the seem only too willing to see the playing side struggle whilst they line their own pockets.

  72. Jimbo

KM – what would I do?

Probably the same thing I’d do if Robbie Earnshaw won the Golden Boot at the world cup.

    Be very fucking surprised.

He’s 25, and has been absolutely shite his whole career until this year when he was actually no better than Bendtner. Fuck him, frankly, and I’d rather see Wenger fired on the spot than sign this fool.

  73. Mayank

Who said that we’d only be competitive with a new manager. My point was Bould can take over after Wenger leaves. Also after building the stadium we’ve successfully broken our transfer records for an attacking and defensive player. We were in for a 21m DM. That tells you that we’re progressing towards being a high spending club, that too without a sugar daddy or political backing in RMs cae.

  74. tonyadamsisgod

If Djourou was ever going to be world class it would have happened by now and he wouldn’t be behind Silvestre in the pecking order! Lets be realistic, he is a 4th choice CB all day long and we could sell him to bring in a player that could challenge for a starting role! With Song we have 6 CB’s and too many are not good enough. I would sell Silvestre because he is shit, Senderos because he could generate some cash and the same with Kolo. Only then would I think about selling Djourou if and when we had his replacement settled in.

  75. LAzer

Who are the ducks Geoffry?? I guess we’ll find out soon. I wouldn’t put it past the frenchman to go with what we have though. That is what I fear will happen. Nasri will play in the middle with Cesc and Rosicky, Arshavin, Walcott out on the sides.

  76. gaya

    yes Ade is leaving.
And i think we chased him out.
Robson as you said chats shit.
but that is exactly what is needed
you defend your club blindly that is his job
you dont let them feel you are weak
and i dont see any ex-player do that for us.
you say flamini and yes we all make mistakes
so the boss should bring him back
how come we didnt accept Ade’s actions were wrong and a mistake, lets forgive and move on
oh no it doesnt work that way, we are the fans we are not allowed to forgive.

  77. Davi

Geoff, Im not sure about that. He relied on JD as the 3rd CB most of the season.
He always tends to pick his most experienced players unfortunately even though djourou was our best CB by far at the start of the season. I think wenger definitely rates him for the future. Id be shocked if he doesnt. You’d have to be blind not to notice hes got talent.
He tends to pick up injuries as well, so maybe that could have lost him his place too

  78. gambon

    MB,

The difference is Wigan make £0 per year, and usually lose money. We make £37m per season after all deductions.

Its ridiculous that we spend less than the likes of Fulham, Wigan, Bolton etc when we are 20 times richer than them.

  79. Jimbo

MB – The board are certainly delighted to have a manager who doesn’t spend money, but Wenger has a track record in recent seasons of completely misjudging the ability of his teenie-bopper players to actually compete at the top level.

He makes the same mistakes, over and over again, and it’s obvious that his own personal agendas are more important to him than actually getting the most trophies for Arsenal.

    Who would replace him?

I answer that question 3 times a day, so I’m not going to bother.

But Wenger HAS had money to spend, but he’s failed to spend it because he’d rather watch chumps like Denilson ‘develop’ than actually see us win anything
