Ade, going, going… Now is the time to have a real clear out Arsene.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So that made me laugh yesterday, Adebayor is having a work permit meeting in Manchester, so what the hell does that mean? He didn’t have one playing for us?

On the BBC, it says Ade has asked to sleep on it overnight as he is concerned how it would go down in Togo! No thought for his beloved Arsenal then? That’s his Goose well and truly cooked.

I had to laugh at old boy Robson yesterday, saying Tevez only moved for the money, ha, ha, so £28 million each on Rooney, Ferdinand and Veron when £10 million to everyone else was a fortune had nothing to do with money then, what a complete muppet hypocrite.

The thought of losing a big lump like him to our new biggest rivals fills me with dread, but the thought of getting rid of a lazy trouble maker that loves himself and depositing £25 million in our bank account excites me more. But only if he spends the money.

I would be tempted to ask for Richards, give them Kolo and spend £28 million on newer, better players, Talk is of Hazard, I like the look of him but he really is in the Wilshere mode, one for the future, what we need to challenge next year is a world class partner for Cesc, one because that would lift the team and two because without that we will be lucky to finish in the top 4, that’s my opinion.

So who are the candidates? Matuidi, Inler and Cana as Melo has all but gone, I must confess I don’t know enough about any of them save that they run a lot, shut down and win the ball, a bit like Ray Parlour and that’s what I think has been lacking. I keep mentioning Flamini but I know a lot of you have mixed feelings, I can’t understand why the boss can never bury his pride, it smacks of sulking, we all make mistakes and if the boss was so keen to keep him in the first place, he should be just as keen to bring him back, plus he would be the cheaper option and he knows the Premiership. Graham did it to great effect with Keown and he was one of Wenger’s stalwarts.

I also like the look of Numbchucks, but he would be off the the ACN so I would steer clear of him, if Wenger sells Eboue, Kolo and Adebayor that would only leave Song in the ACN and as he is not a first choice centre back, that may work. As we wouldn’t be losing a key member of the squad when we need him the most. He also needs to decide whether we need Senderos and Djourou, I like them both but will they make it? So maybe we should be looking at another centre back like Naldo, and if we get Richards as well we will have two players in every position along the back and bring in much needed cash.

So to sum up, if we sold Eboue, Djourou, Senderos, Kolo and Ade we could easily bring in £45 million and that would comfortably bring us in a world class centre back and defensive midfielder with enough left to land Micah Richards and Eden Hazard.

And the last two both want to play for us, so that is a massive bonus. Apparently Arsenal have sent people to talk to his parents in Belgium.

We will never have a better chance to improve our squad and we haven’t done that since 2003 so it’s about time, no one can say that we don’t have the money now because we clearly do and we would be losing some high wage earners so therefore saving even more money.

Come on Arsene, do the right thing, we may have lost Villa as a rival but Man City are a different proposition. Give us all some hope because selling Ade and not making hay while the sun shines will only leave us a much weakened side.

Have a great day Grovers, something will happen today!

According to dailymaily at Pat, quick question, why did Ade apply for a work permit in Manchester.

I thought if had I work permit in England u could play anywhere in England.

Makes me think about something Geoff said, that maybe he didnt have one, but that wouldnt make sense
    —————————————-
having been on a work permit myself , each permit is attached to the business you work for . hence if you work for company ABC , and you want to work for company XYZ you have to do the paperwork all over again ,apply to immigration ,interview etc. and there is no way your work permit could expire .. a person like ade would have immigration on your door step within 24 hours … maybe some nobody could let his work permit expire , but no way ade could .

the old company isnt going to pay taxes and keep your work permit current for the love of ade … he will need to do a new application to immigration to his new club.. it shouldn’t be a problem however
unless he hasn’t paid his taxes or been a burden to the economy/government head butting and girl bashing aside …

    being a burden to AFC doesn’t count .. :)
or he would have been deported in 2008 :)

plus each club i think have a certain amount of work permits available … 3 /4 ??
so its not surprising that getting rid of ade
plus the news of wellington from Brazil is on the move to us …

we are using the vacated work permit slot obviously

  3. JamaicanGunnersFan

Thx ethangunner u have given me the real insight …

So who do u see the boss signing this time

  4. A

Nah ethan regarding your last point clubs don’t have a certain number of work permits, there’s no foreign player quota or anything currently in force, so if a club wanted it could have 50 players who required work permits on it’s books.

In Spain and Italy I believe they have a certain number allowed in each club, that the clubs can choose to give to whoever they want. Whereas in the UK a player applies for a work permit with the Government, and the Government decides whether they are of sufficient ability to warrant being given a work permit. It’s why in Spain and Italy, and countries like France where they just don’t need a work permit of any sort they can just get any south american or african players, but in the UK at times it’s much harder.

  5. A

Dunno why i said 50 – if a club wanted they could have an infinite number of players contracted to them who require work permits to work, 50 was just a figure thrown out of nowhere but there isn’t a limit of 50 or anything!

What will happen to Ade if City can not reach an agree on personal terms, cauz I know manu will not sign him ….

So thats the question which lies in my head

  7. A

I think they will agree personal terms Jamaican. Ade knows wenger wants rid of him, the only way he’d reject city is if he thought milan might come back in for him, but I’m sure if he actually failed to agree personal terms (which is only currently a Daily Mail story, so coming from the most unreliable source in existence) then he would have asked Milan if they’re interested along with Utd, so they’d either offer for him, or more likely they said no and he’ll sign for City.

  8. JamaicanGunnersFan

ok … let hope he does, and get rid of him my fav is THE HUNTER … its a story I see poppin up as Bordeaux want to hike chamakh prices wid silvestre …

HUNTER, HUNTER, HUNTER, HUNTER, HUNTER, HUNTER

  9. A

Not a chance Jamaican, and I wouldn’t want him anyways, he’ll seal the Stuttgart move by the end of the week, it’ll be good for him, then he can try in a big league at the end of the season.

  10. Stu

“then he can try in a big league at the end of the season”
What do you mean by that?

Are you suggesting he will be on the move again after 1 season at Stuttgart?

  11. A

I reckon so Stu – If he sets the German league alight with Stuttgart, as I really feel he could, then next summer the big boys could certainly come calling, if not a Mario Gomez style move to Bayern then a top Italian team, or maybe even Utd or Chelsea could well be interested

  12. A

He’s nearly 26, so will be starting next season as a 27 year old, I don’t think he’ll want to be at a club like Stuttgart, he’d be in the prime of his career and would want to be challenging at the very top to try and win the champions league

  13. Stu

Well i think he should be looking for a better club right now. Stuttgart arent shite but they arent big enough for him imo. He needs to either go to Milan or a regular CL team because he deserves it…

Or Maybe even us because i dont want him going to Chelski or ManU.

  14. A

Yeah I’d agree there, but Milan seem to be unwilling to pay what Madrid want, for what they consider to be a big risk.

I think one year at Stuttgart could do him some good, he was awesome in Holland, but going to Germany where he would be guaranteed first team football, and could score shitloads of goals could help his game develop. Test himself in a new league get his confidence back after it not working for him in Spain.

  15. A

I dunno, he had a difficult end to the season. Although his goalscoring doesn’t look that bad when you look at 8 games in however many appearances, it’s actually pretty misleading, because 7 of those 8 goals came in 3 braces and a single goal when thrashing really crap teams. I’m not sure he actually settled that well, and the other Spanish teams aren’t clambering for his signature.

  16. Stu

Imagine if we didnt sign Chamakh purely because we didnt want to swap Silvestre. It would easily be fish-heads biggest and best contribution to the club since arriving.

  17. A

It would be an absolutely ridiculous situation wouldn’t it Stu! Why on earth would they want Silvestre rather than asking for Senderos or even Gallas?!

  18. Honest Bill

Stu. And people said he was useless haha.

But in fairness i’ve not really seen Chamakh so i’m unqualified to give my opinion of him. Not that it stops most people, but still I won’t bother

  19. Stu

Im sure Chamakh is a fine player and although i am in the bracket that hasnt seen him much i still like to give an opinion. I saw him once for a full 90minutes…he was awful.
He made decent runs into the channels but he had poor control, couldnt pass to save his life and his decision making was diabolical. Shot when he should have passed and vice versa, turned into defenders etc

I would prefer not to have him.

  20. Stu

IF and i mean IF, we were to buy someone off Bordeaux the obvious option would be Gourcuff but apart from him i would have Cavenaghi or maybe Diawarra(sp). Am i forgetting anyone?

  21. Stu

I dont see any reason why anyone would value Silvestre, especially someone in Wengers position. We already have Gallas, Toure, Vermaelen, Senderos, Djourou and Song. Each one of them are better than Silvestre so wanting to keep him makes no sense at all.

  22. Ja_Gunner

Well maybe next year Juventus will go after the Hunter…because look at their forward line.

    Del Piero 34+
    Trezeguet 32+
    Iaquinta 30
    Amauri 29

Surely they will after a striker next year…..

  23. Stu

    Hello Ja,
I ahree that Juve could do with a new striker because of their current forward lines age but they do have Giovinco and in Italy those players are probably considered to be still young. Italian teams are known for playing players up until their very late 30s.

  24. Ja_Gunner

I hear you Stu…but Italian teams love to play attacking midfielders so I feel he will have Diego behind the 2 strikers……Giovinco will probably be Diego’s backup….Giovinco probably wont play as stiker….he will more likely play behind them as Diego’s backup.

  25. gnarleygeorge9

Afternoon all, inparticular London based Grovers.

If there is anyone up yet, can they have a look outside their window & check out what the weather is doing please. Or as soon as it gets light. Geoff you are usually up pretty early.

  26. gnarleygeorge9

Yep in the Tsunami affected Oz. We were put on national alert due to an earthquake off NZ last night. But the waves never got above 24cm. How the hell do they measure them out @ sea FFS. Thanks for the weather report, but Ineed to know what is happening, not what could. Looks like the pommy cricketers saving grace will kick in again if that forecast is correct. I bet there will be no rain in Abu Dhabi over the next 5 days.

  27. Rohan

and abu dhabi..it rains here if we’re lucky once a year and definitley not in the summer.
it borders on 46 degrees centigrade in the months of july and august.

  28. Rohan

and re the ashes, england were unbelievably lucky to scrape a draw at cardiff.
i woulnt mid betting on a 3-0 win for australia overall.

  29. gnarleygeorge9

You are on the ball there Rohan, @ 1.00am this morning it was cancelled. My mates @ Bicheno on Tassies east coast kept watch, but they said nothing happened on shore. I reckon the NZ earthquake occurred coz the Wallabies arrived in NZ for the Rugby(Bledisloe Cup)this weekend. There is usually fireworks/thunder/earth movement when the 2 Rugby nations lock horns. I wonder where Morrows Broken Arm is these days?

  30. Rohan

nope, apparently he is having cold feet….wants to reconsider his decision because he is worried of the reaction back in africa…
of all the times to grow a conscience FFS….

  31. dennisdamenace

Nope, he’s like a turd that’s stuck to the bottom of your shoe, you think you got it all off, but you can still smell something……

  32. gnarleygeorge9

DDM I don’t know whether I can say on here, she’s on another blog with a few other old Grovers.

Oh, I love the description of ade the poo on shoe, CHamoneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  33. Rohan

am i right in saying that the blog’s name is that of a location in N5 , that one of the main bloggers has the name of a rather significant city, another one is a russian propaganda machine and another has the initials JJ…
    :P

  34. Rohan

thought so , i used to go to and fro between that blog and here, but havent been on there in ages..
i quite liked that covert and shrouded deceptive comment..

  35. Rohan

so does anyone know the squad for barnet on saturday..
i’m looking forward to see the verminator in action…

  36. kelsey

    Good Morning,

I must say this saga is unbelievable, now it is alleged that adebayor wants time to think the deal over as he doesn’t want to offend the people of Togo as they all wear Arsenal shirts and haven’t heard of City.

  37. dennisdamenace

So, today’s the day. The Second Ashes Test, The Open…….oh and some overrated mug makes Arsenal Football Club £25m richer……

  38. Rohan

i reckon city will announce it late friday while arse.com will announce it saturday first thing in the morning with matuidi being announced on monday…
    wait and see….

  39. Rohan

anyone else think that we will be lining up like this next season

    big al
    sagna gallas vermaelen clichy

    cesc DM rosicky/nasri

    RVP/walcott eduardo/bendtner arshavin/vela

or in a 4-2-3-1 with rosicky in a more advanced/free role with cesc and the DM holding fort and dictating role.

  40. ArsenalKenya

    Kelsey….HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

IT IS TRUE…THE MOST POPULAR TEAMS IN AFRICA ARE ARSENAL, AC MILAN, CHELSEA, MAN U , LIVERPOOL, REAL MADRID, BARCELONA, INTER MILAN, JUVENTUS….but MAN CITY…WHO WILL RECOGNISE U EVEN IF U HAVE PUT ON THEIR JERSEY!

I WEAR MY ARSENAL JERSEYS OVER THE WEEKEND AND EVERYWHERE I GO AND MEET A GOONER I AM ALWAYS APPRECIATED.

PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS TURN TO LOOK AT U BECAUSE ARSENAL IS A STRONG TEAM, WITH STRON VALUES, STRONG BRAND AND GOOD FOOTBALLING PHILOSOPHY.

What happens if Adebyeor decides to stay ?

  41. Rohan

if adebayor decides to stay, i doubt wenger is going to give him a starting role and i wouldnt mind that…

having said that, i am pretty certain that he WILL leave.

  42. gnarleygeorge9

Ade must live in la la land if now he is conerned for those who have bought Gooner gear. So do those Togo fans only follow the Goons coz of Ade. Bloody hell its a fickled old world if that the case. Plastic fans IMO.

  43. Geoff

Morning all, Gnarley the forecast is rain, lucky for you eh!

Ade cannot possibly stay, if he thought he was hated before, image what he’ll get now???

  44. Rohan

its at lords innit…haha england have a terrible record at lords..
i’m sorry but, have to mention that the timewasting tactics by those muppets were rather disgraceful

  45. Rohan

if he stays, he will have to face the backlash of the fans imo, and i daresay that the reaction will be even worse than last year..

i think that hte fact that he is worried more of the reaction in africa than the feelings of us gooners will come back to bite him….

  46. gnarleygeorge9

    Rohan

1934 since England beat us @ Lords. I think it was the same year that Spuds last won the League

  47. kelsey

from today’s SUN (yes i know what you are thinking)

Brian Marwood, City’s football administrator, flew down to London for more talks with the player on Wednesday. City have still to put him through a medical and have not booked one yet.

would they lie about him not having had a medical yet,i don’t see the point.

  48. tonyadamsisgod

There is no way Adebayor can play at Arsenal now!! Yes, he would come out and say he did not engineer the move but inreality thats exactly what he did when he started flirting with AC Milan last summer!

  49. kelsey

this reminds me of the dutch striker who refused to play for notts forest several years ago, after having a good season he went on strike as he couldn’t get a move.forgot his name.

  50. Geoff

No Gnarley, today is getting hammered day!

Rohan what about the Aussies time wasting when they were batting, they even got booed, then what about the fact they speeded up their overs when the bowled at the end?

Ponting is like a bitch, I also bet he is a receiver.

  51. Rohan

    taig, true that…
just to clarify.. i’m not an aussi ..( i don’t really mind who wins as long as i get some entertainment )
i also dont think that going through the overs quickly is as bad as calling on the physio twice in the same over just to get a pair of new batting GLOVES..
i mean, cmon, subtle methods are fine, but dont you think that was rather blatant disrespect..
    just my opinion

  52. tonyadamsisgod

Rohan – He had a real problem with his gloves that was slowing him down, so they brought on the 12th man to bring him new gloves so he could speed up and try and get the Ozzies back in batting! Honest! :-) :-)

  53. Geoff

What about everytime the English bowler made their run up, the Aussie batsmen walked away from their crease, even their girls didn’t do that when they were getting tonked.

And I am an Australian, I was ashamed.

  54. Rohan

geoff, but why would australia be trying to waste time…
being in a potentially winning position the whole of the game, surely they would want to finish the game off as quickly as possible..as far as i coul make out, they did not have any motive to waste time as they werent playing for a draw…

  55. goonermichael

TRhe Australians would never do anything unsportsmanlike. Winning isn’t very important to them.

  56. jules

Funny how we can,t sign anyone without a long drawn out saga , now we can,t even sell a lazy cunt that we don,t want without a saga either !!!

ade worried about being percieced as a money grabbing cunt !! lol .

what a cock , just fuck off

  57. Arse&Nose

Did I or did I not predict that the Adebayor hold up was down to him and his ade-visors trying to squeeze money out of man city!! What a greedy bunch of cunts.

  58. Pedro

TAIG, I have to ask what makes you think Huntelaar is proven?

He’s being binned by Madrid after 6 months, he’s come from a weaker league than the Moroccan and he his extremely slow and has the work ethic of a 45 year old Adebayor…

Chamakh looks fast, good in the air and quite physical… and he was part of the team that one the French league…

Our problem last year was not buying players of a ripe age… the year before, we were very close… the previous two years are debatable becuase of the stadium crap…
