So on the day we hear the tragic news that old boy John Hartson has cancer we also hear from the opposite end of the scale, greed.

First of all John, everyone here on Le Grove wish you well, it will be a tough fight but you’re a fighter and we are with you every step of the way, good luck mate, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Onto Ade, he whinged on that BBC interview with Garth Crooks that he can’t control what the papers say, so as he hasn’t come out and said the City rumours are untrue, we have to believe they are, if this is scotched on Arsenal.com I will be major league pissed off, as if it were untrue then this should have been bollocksed yesterday, but it wasn’t, so here goes.

So Ade, how does it feel you are every shite wannabe team’s second choice? Milan were slightly interested when Dzeko turned them down, but they never followed up on their interest. Then Man City, after being turned down by ‘has been’ Eto’o, have also turned to you, so you have been chased by two teams that wanted someone else first, have you no pride? And City aren’t even playing Champions league football!

Don’t get me wrong, I really hope this story is true, you were trouble at Monaco, you are trouble with Togo and if we keep you, you will disrupt this side no end, I would sooner you went and we bought in a world class defensive midfielder and a winger. To be honest I would swap you for that new Taylor made R9 Driver and a box of ProV1′s, but I don’t manage Arsenal, I only play football manager so that won’t happen.

Go with our blessing Ade, enjoy your money, I hope the City fans are more tolerant of your offsides than we are, but a word of advice, don’t headbutt Micah Richards, he might headbutt you back.

Arsene take the money and spend it, don’t use it for pay rises or to pay for Ivan’s new recruits, use it to strengthen the squad, but do it with class players, not more bargain basement troublemakers, make our team get excited, like they did when you signed Arshavin.

I was quite amused when Rednose was puzzled as to how the transfer market has gone ballistic, this is after he made £80 million by selling a player to Real Madrid, he is either mentally ill or quite stupid, I suspect somewhere in between after he signed happy crock Michael Owen.

Vieira to Spurs? How funny is that! Don’t hold your breath Harry, it won’t happen, once a Gooner, always a gooner.

So after yesterday’s chat about no more speculation, Adebayor has got us all buzzing, I have always rated his ability but hated his attitude and his inability to learn as well as his work rate.

Yesterdays picks as replacements were all midfield and wingers, almost none of you wanted Numchucks which does seem to be Wengers preferred choice, but many of you fancy the idea of Jeremy Toulalan, Matuidi, Cana or Inler with Hazard on the wing, an interesting debate and one that I believe will be decided before Saturday if Ade does indeed go.

Richards for Kolo and Ade plus £28mil anyone? I would! That way we could get in Nimbchucks, Matuidi, Hangeland and Hazard and still have change. The back line would be sorted then would it not, we could even sell Eboue as we would have ample cover?

I have to say though a forward line of Robinho, Adebayor and Tevez could do some damage, And finally how does it feel Shaun? You could have been a gooner once.

But Arsenal, not a penny less than £25mil and let’s hope him and Tevez enjoy playing in the Europa cup this season.

    I’m not sure about Hangeland. He’s a good defender in the box but would he suit Arsenal’s style of play because of how far up the field we defend, he isn’t quick & that could prove a problem. Although I won’t pretend I’ve seen him play the more I read about him the more I think Naldo would be the better choice.

    I’ve wanted Arsene to sign Eden Hazard ever since I saw him playing for Belgium in an under 17 tournament. What an exciting player.

We shoudl at least give it until the January window for these guys to click together. Eduardo has shown he comes into the team with form straight away. If he’s fit, he’s awesome! A DM and RW (to let Theo learn his trade up top) has to be thew priority. If Wenger buys a striker you have to wonder why we still have Bendtner and Vela at the club??

    Mark Gooner – Eduardo is back training and has shown no sign of injury (touch wood) even though it was only a month or two ago that he had an op on his ankle to make sure its all ok. He seems to have his injury behind him and is working hard in training. He will be our Numero uno! When we had Theirry you could say the same thing about him when you say Arshavin is a 2nd striker. How many times did Thierry drift wider and deep to start the attack? Arshavin is more than capable of leading our line.

Bringing in more technical players rather than a target man could help steer us back in the direction of the beautiful game we all used to be treated to. Lets get Arshavin and Eduardo upfront, play the passing game that Fabregas and Rosicky/Nasri can excell at and see a return to a style of football that defences are far too often scared shitless of!

As for the wide situation my point would be why are we settling for players ‘that are capable of playing wide’ when we should have players that excell in playing wide. Our ride side options consist of a full back and a player that should be a striker by now. And people have some delluded memory of Rosicky being able to play RW. He’s a LW through and through…..IF, IF he’s ever fit.

    Expect transfers (if any more) to be sorted out this week…
    I for one, rated Adebayor very high when we had signed him, i had just watched the African Nations Cup and i was very exited about the prospect of him playing for Arsenal, but what i didn’t know at that time, was the “outside of field” baggage that came with him…
    I believe if he goes, then Bendtner would finally get the chance to prove himself, without Ade hanging on his shoulders (or head-kicking him)…
    Nikki hasn’t showed his “right stuff” yet and i think that mostly is Ade’s fault…
    Nikki scored 15 goals last season (in fareness he did miss a “few” sitters too) and that is ok, when being the 3rd choice striker…
    He could easily bag at least 20+ next season and with van Persie, Eduardo (if stays fit), Vela & Walcott also there, we will be fine without buying another striker…
    If we do buy another striker (a good one that is) then it would probably be the end of Nikki B’s Arsenal career…
    I say put some trust in him and he will give us what we need…

    The question is: Could our defence stand up against Adebayor fi he played against us? I really think they could. I think Gallas and whoever is alongside him can shackle him and our back line has always worked the offside trap well. So I dont see why we should turn down £25m when we have 6 other strikers on our first team books and could bring in another if we really needed to.

    And what a day to get it. Fucking fantastic news about Ade, I really hope it works out, and Ade if you have any doubts at all, look at 99% of Arsenal Blogs and you will realise that you are not really wanted so please fuck the fuck off.

    As for replacements, agree that we do seem to have a lot of 2nd Strikers. Not keen on this Chamakh bloke, although he does sound like the typical Wenger signing so we may have to get used to it. I would like Etoo, he is still banging them in and alongside RVP or Arshavin could be deadly, I bet you could bank on 25+ goals from him. And with Eduardo, Vela and Nic as back up, that is great depth.

    My worry is that we buy no one at all, and he gambles another season, this time on Theo up front……

    Still no CM either, come on Arsenal, you turned down the investment last week, so you have to put your money where your mouth is. We need investment in the squad, you have admitted we have it by turning the cash down so fucking spend some of it, and preferably on proven class, not gambles….

    Gunner8 how do u thread a killer ball when a team is sat as deep as they possibly can. we lack that instinctive explosive forward that can regularly score from half chances.

    fact is if we sell any of our forwards without replacing them we are already weaker as a team. cos none of them is the complete package its a bit here and there.

    I know this will put the cat amongst the pigeons but I really do think that with some decent and consistant time up front Theo will be agreat striker. Yes he has fluffed easy chances in the past but he needs playing time up top to erradicate those mistakes. His pace on the shoulder of the last man will scare the shit out of most defences and he prsents us with another option. I’d give him more than a go up top and play him there against the lesser teams in the EPL at least.

    Denilson and Bendtner got a hard time from the fans at times last year, both of whom are young players who worked hard. Eboue also got a hard time and imo did not deserve it. Adebayor was far from a model employee (courting other clubs, assaulting team mates, poor effort, laughing at fuck ups that had us tearing our hair out etc) and is in no position to complain about the fans treatment of him, the other three though..

    Franchise – Yeah exactly, and there’s not a striker that comes close to what Henry gave us right now, no-one.

    Van Persie is not in the same category as Eto’o or Torres because he’s a different player, Eto’o is a good finisher doesn’t have that Wow factor, unless you’re thinking of something completely different.

    Vela’s just starting out, but some of his goals have been as good as you’ll see anywhere in the World.

    Franchise Torres is the new Henry, there are very few strikers in the world as good as him. As for eto’o ask Barca if they’d be willing to swap, you’d be surprised by the quick response. Also RvP plays deeper than the aforementioned. As for Vela lest season he was getting acclimatised to the PL this season we might see a much better player. Dudu, i won’t try to justify why he’s magic on the field. Nik i think is good against weaker defences and also good at creating confusion, good player to have. Beside Walcott can make fools out of slower defenders, ask Maldini.

    Can see what you are suggesting franchise.But i do feel that if vela plays in a lineup that has cesc,arshavin and rosicky he can be really effective.I don’t think he has got many oppurtunites to play along with them.I am not saying he is ready yet but i think he is capable of scoring around 15 goals next season

    You only have to compare Ade’s attitude with Bendtners! Its a no brainer! Ade started getting shit the day his 30 goal season ended! His ego grew far too much, he stomped his feet, threw a tantrum, demanded more money and stupidly got it! Then when he doesnt back himself up he blames the fans! Fuck me, the cheek of it! Bendtner on the other hand, plays poorly, gets stick from the fans but instead of having a pop back, bucks up his ideas, works hard for the team and wins evreyone over. His attitude and work rate along with his temperament was role model worthy!

    Ade is in this game for the money and for himself.

    Arshavin was threading those eye of the needle passes against 10 men last season… …I think you need your football fix now!!! at least grab a peroni and take a whiff of tht skunky smell when you open it. That should help with the pain you are suffering at the moment.
