Two posts for you today due to confusion at Le Grove HQ!
Firstly, before we kick off i’d just like to draw peoples attention to something non-footballisitc just because I’ve been following it for a while. It’s the case of Gary McKinnon, the computer hacker whose facing extradition to the States for ‘cyber terrorism’… The only reason I mention it is because I feel a pretty naive nerd is facing 60 years in prison because our pathetic government is bending over to the United States again. So for once… I am backing a Daily Mail campaign to make sure he isn’t sent away for life for trying to find out if UFO’s exist… especially as the States have a history of never extraditing anyone of interest to the UK (IRA terrorists spring to mind). Anyways, I thought I’d put the word out. Read the story here, sign the petition if one goes up!
Onto the football… and I have a few things to tear through today!
Firstly, the coach has indicated that he has been looking at strikers. He said if Ade leaves, he’d be interested in signing Chamakh. It seems to me that Wenger is actively encouraging a bid for his Togolese forward. He iterated his desire to keep him… but went onto mention he thought Karim Benzema was a good deal at £30million, then he suggested he might be interested in Chamakh. Does anyone else think that Wenger is doing his very worst to pretend he wants to keep Adebayor?
‘”If he does not want to stay, he will leave, but I think he will be still at Arsenal this season,
However, should Adebayor move on, the Gunners boss could move for the Moroccan international Chamakh. “Yes, but only in the event of a departure,” the manager said of his interest in Chamakh.’
A bit like selling your house… you know the current one has it’s limitations, but you wouldn’t want prospective buyers to think that… so you’ll pretend you still love it to give it value in the new buyers eyes (You’re not going to tell them the finishing is atrocious are you!). His selling tactics seem to be lost on Europes top clubs… Milan have bid on Fabiano, ManU preferred Owen, we’ll get on onto the Chav’s later…
So, whilst Wenger has been professing his fondness for his shed, I’ve noticed he’s casting an eye over the Mansions across the pond.
“There is one who interested me, but he [Karim Benzema] left for Madrid,”
“I did not make an approach because I would never have thought that Lyon would sell this year.”
What strikes me about the above comment is that Wenger was not aware Lyon were going to sell him… do I need to send him a link to the newsnow feed? Are we missing out on players because Wenger is not up to date with the best player scouting technology on the market? We all knew Karim was for sale ages ago!
Well… just as a heads up Arsene, there is a player called Eden Hazard who wants a piece of the Arsenal action. He is from Belgium, he is 18 and he looks like a cup of you. A powerful winger with plenty of tricks to dazzle the emirates.
Take a look and get back to me on what you’d like to do with him.
We’ve also landed our third and fourth signings of the summer… fan favourite, Kieron Gibbs put pen to paper on a new deal. My view is that Gibbs will replace Clichy in two seasons time and we’ll take a cool £20million for our much loved Frenchman. We really are the left back production line of Europe aren’t we?! It’s good to see that we’re well placed in the home grown department… the Chav signings of Sturridge and Turnball are about as inspirational as the signings of Inamoto and Bischoff… things really have declined for the Russians!
The best news of the morning is that the boy wonder has finally put pen to paper and signed up for another 5 years. Bravo to that man. In Robins first full season he scored 20 goals and landed 13 assists. He has wrestled the number one striker award away from Adebayor and hopefully we’ll see even more from him next season. Two strikers on £80k a week… makes you fear for one of them, doesn’t it?
One of the Grovers (Zorro) has asked me to plug a football tournament they are attending in Leeds… apparently a load of Gooners head up there each year and represent the club… vets and standard teams are welcome… click here to read more, it’s in three weeks!
Also, I am pleased to announce that I will be updating all the features on the site a bit more regularly. A Grover mailed in and suggested I’d given the Funnies and other features the Gilberto treatment… well, no longer. If you have anything funny or interesting… please mail it in and I’ll see what I can do.

Craig loved the site so much, he renamed his road. Superb funny.
Also, I apologise for not getting back to people on the e-mail. My boss has decided I have to work for a living… which is pretty poor really. Don’t worry though, I’m seeing an solicitor about the legalities of this request.
Finally… don’t forget to sign up to the crazy stuff we have in the side bar —> e-mail, twitter, facebook… you can’t escape the Le Grove empire this summer!
Have a great day Grovers, a Finestcuts Guest post tomorrow!

It strikes me that Wenger needs to wise up… missing out on Benzema.. didn’t know he was available?!
Do we need to start a petition to get him to notice the obvious potential of Eden Hazard before he also gets snapped up by Madrid!?
1st
damn…
1ST
1st 1st
Wenger has got to sign Eden Hazard and there is only one striker for me and thats Marcus Berg
Great post!! we get Benzema next summer
We don’t need Hazard or Berg, though they’re both very talented.
We need a fucking defensive midfielder, and for Denilson to fuck off back to Brazil.
Good Blog.
I’m only just getting over the diapointment of Wengers Benzema oversight where the hell has he be living over the past 6 months? I have been imploring him to sign Benzema for 2 years. Of course the fake Ronaldo is nowhere near 2 & a half x better than Benzema, Real have a bargain.
Hazard is very very talented. I would not be surprised if Wenger went in for him, his skills and youth maybe too much for him to resist although whilst no one has been sold, our squad is plenty big enough.
Where’s the link for the Naldo story?
Nice post
Naldo would be a great signing for us – just the player we need in defence, but probably less of a priority unless we sell Toure or Gallas (neither of which I think will happen).
Don’t think we’re after him though.
Heck I’ll be 1st too if you all first! 1st!
No No Gimbo we definitely need a striker like Marcus Berg hes a complete goal machine very much a clinical striker thats exactly what we need.
Morning everyone!
Sorry for the confusion… I had a few things I needed to put in the post, so I stuck it up!
What’s the deal with the deadline, is it next Friday for preseason and final transfers?
Who does Berg play for? Is he the guy the Spuds are after?
Doesnt make it easy for Wenger to sell ADEBAYOR when all the arsenal BLOGS are writing about how crap he is and how much we want rid, he is crap we do want rid but it aint helping to get rid of the big galoot.
Hazard was shit hot in the games I have seen him, head and shoulders above his teamates.
Next year?
With that I would probably line up with this next year, if all stays the same and we do not sign nor release players.

Jimbo
Denilson found him in the position because Wenger put him there, I understand that he isnt at the right level yet, but can you honestly say we were strong enough to challenge for the title last season? If so then i Can understand why u talk about den the way you.
Personally when your whole midfield is decimated, I think you chances of the big prize is gone. Taking that into account with Denilson in his first season we came fourth, comfortably. We have a much improved Denilson this season coming whose work is very unassuming like Makalele, gets the ball and gives it short nice and sweet and waits to stop the next attack. Honestly in your DM you cant fault that.
Gunner8, you’d start with Ade next year?
Gunner8 Eduardo on the bench?
what we need to do is start a petition or boycote going to the games till the board give wenger the money to spend on transfers. What we need to do is send wenger a list of all the players that we want at the club(anyone have his email)
must proof read!!
Armourist, I don’t think Denilson is defensively minded enough to be compared to the Mak. Lee Dixon has highlighted enough times this fact on MoTD. I can’t see how Denilson is going to improve to Championship winning standards in 3 months.
Our 18 game unbeaten streak was in part, due to the fact Song AND Denilson played in the middle. We needed two to do one job… I think that tells you a lot about their ability at the moment.
I do like Denilson, he is tidy and compact… I’m just not sure he’ll make the jump in a few months.
Armourist – you bet I blame Wenger for putting Denilson in that situation. He’s at reserve, or U21 level now, btu should not be playing for a big club in the Premiership. Totally out of his depth.
For me, he’s got it all to do to prove that he’s ever going to be good enough for Arsenal.
Wengers interest in Benzema is purely academic, just like my interest in Ferrari cars. Do you really think Arsenal could give him anything like 30 mln?
I rememeber last autumn/winter Wenger said that credit crunch would hit clubs hard and this summer transfer window would be “interesting”. It is indeed, but not in the way Wenger predicted, but quite the opposite.
The transfer market is horrible for Arsenal this year. And I do not mean Benzenma and the like, who would alway be out of our price range, I mean decent players who would go for peanuts according as Wenger expected. Instead we have players like Melo valued close to 18 mln.
Wenger is under huge pressure from fans and shareholders crying buy buy buy. But who the hell he can buy with his money? Another Diaby/Denilson/Song player???
I agree with you Pedro to a degree, I do think he is defensively minded but he suffers from two things he isnt tactically experienced in himself as well as the team, and the style we play is offensive which leaves gaps.
As you highlighted when we played two DM’s we become more compact as we two players who naturally sat in the midfield, this change of style or team mentality meant we went on an unbeaten run.
Time however is what the kid needs and I think AW is going to give him that time. If the Arsenal.com has Song as a CB this is the clearest indicator that Denilson is ourDM next season.
Jimbo, I imagine if you spoke to Denilson all he’d want from you is the chance to prove that with some experience behind him he can be good enough, but you have to give him that chance.
Melo has joined Juve
http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2009/07/04/1363248/breaking-news-felipe-melo-agrees-to-join-juventus-report
i completely agree with Gunner8′s formation. wenger said he is considering tht formation. the only thing i would change from your 1, nasri for rosicky and we cant use song not experienced enough so i would prefer us to buy a DM thts it.
Gunner2k9…
Armourist , Denilson should get that chance in the 20 odd games he is good enough to play in. In the rest however, we need something better.
Gunner8 you are nearly there with you first eleven. Rosicky has been out for a year so I guess it will take some time for to get back to his best. Some people sighted Eduardo injury as to why we did not win the league the season before last but I think Rosicky was playing out of his skin prior to his own injury nightmare.

Ade or Chamakh
I said this in my first post on this blog (thanks for having me Geoff) But i think it is worth reiterating:
Ade can be a world beater but he is one of those players who constantly needs his willy sucked, So lets start getting behind him in the hope that he can improve his first touch (which is like rapist most of the time), application and potency on the pitch. It not just goals that make Eto’o such a great player but his work rate and why Wenger is considering a player like Chamakh. Ade needs to take note to become the power player he and a ever decreasing number of people think he is. He just needs be loved (ah!!)….
Armourist, I’m sure if you ask EVERY youngster at the club they’ll ALL tell you that they want a chance to prove they’re good enough. So what?
I wouldn’t give a LOT of players a chance, including Denilson. In fact with Denilson, he’s already proven he’s not ready, or indeed good enough.
So Melo goes to Juve, and it sounds like Cana’s off to Liverpool.
Can’t we just sack Wenger now and get it over with? The guy’s an imbecile.
I say get rid of Adebayor and get Chamakh in, I seem to remember he said he would like to join Arsenal, so at least he would play for the club unlike Adebayor who seems intent on plying his so called skills to the highest bidder. We should have got shot last season for £30m, now we’ll be lumbered with him for at least another season unless someone comes up with the dosh within the next 2-3 weeks or so.
Melo is shite and no-one’s seen Cana play, who’s the imbecile?
I would have 2 formations/first XIs actually (based on the opposition), after much thought , if I may add :
1. Likes of Manu , Chavs , Dippers , UCL (where we could be hurt as well)[4-4-1-1]
————–Almunia
-Sagna—Gallas/Kolo—-Vermy/Djourou—Clichy
—————-Song
Nasri———-Cesc————Rosicky
—————Arshavin
—————RvP/Eddy
2. Against park the bus opposition (those infuriating games where we drop points with regularity in the League) [4-3-3]
—————–Almunia
-Sagna—Gallas/Kolo—-Vermy/Djourou—Clichy
——————Nasri
——–Cesc——————-Rosicky
-Theo/RvP———-Ade————-Arshavin
An imbecile wouldn’t have bought Henry, Veiera, Pires or Arshavin, to name but 4. They would have bought Bentley, Bent, Bale and Rocha.
No-one’s seen Cana play?
Take it you don’t watch French football then? It is on TV you know.
I’ll tell you what an imbecile is – a man who thinks he can get away with playing Denilson for a whole season.
So Wenger bought some book players almost a decade ago?
Great – let’s sign him up for another 10 years!
Jimbo , you are a nutter
I saw Cana play a few times, including against Man Utd. He may be a good player but didn’t look that great when I saw him but that’s the danger of judging someone on insufficient evidence.
Arshavin was not bought a decade ago.
Denilson has been the captain of every underage Brazilian team he played on since he was 16. This guy has had to learn a new language, settle into a new climate & culture at a very young age. He also happens to play in the physically toughest league in the world.
So to say that he’s no good or that he should fuck back to Brazil is pathetic.
How quickly did Ronaldo settle in at Utd?
I ‘d rather see Song beside Fab4 than Denilson.
Lou, no he didn’t.
Wenger bought Arshavin, who the world and his wife knew was a good player, and put him in his useless personal project and asked him to carry them to the finish line, so that he could spend the summer crowing about how amazing his great young players are and how much potential they have.
Well, they don’t.
If we don’t fire Wenger now, we’re almost certainly going to lose our only genuinely quality players next summer. I pray to God Arsene’s gone within the next few weeks – call Real up, see if they’ll have him.
Do you watch the french league then? I don’t, it’s pretty poor. What’s a book player?
“How quickly did Ronaldo settle in at Utd?”
A hell of a lot quicker than Denilson.
Seriously, he’s a chump with no spine and no discernable talent. Get rid ASAP, before we waste another season hoping this kid actually shows some ability.
Jimbo , are you Mr. Levy by any chance
?
Lol Arindam!
No, I’m just sick of Arsene, his ridiculous transfer policy, and the demented approach he’s got to building this squad.
Denilson has been here nearly three years and it’s only now that he is becoming semi-decent against the riff raff of the premier league. He still looks completely toothless against the big boys.
I’m sure if Wenger took a boy out of a fat camp in America he would turn them into decent footballers after three years of his tutelage, so for me it’s becoming apparent that turning Denilson into a top flight player is pretty hard work. He just lacks the natural talent and it’s been pretty pain-staking process watching him develop. Almost like watching Paula Radcliffe run the 4 x 100 relay.
If Wenger hadn’t of bought him three years ago, I’m pretty sure he would still be struggling to command a place in their team.
Jimbo. I of course respect your rather singular point of view so let me pose a couple of questions. If the world and his wife knew how good Arshavin was why didn’t a club with more financial resources than Arsenal buy him? And secondly, as you are so obviously opposed to all things Wenger could you let us know your masterplan for the club? This will of course involve the name of the new manager and the players that should be bought and sold to take us to the top of the EPL and the CL? All must be done within certain financial restraints obviously. Thank you.
I want to bum Venus Williams, does this make me gay?
Jimbo , sure that its AW and not the Board ?
yes , apparently it does.
What about Jimmy Krankie, does this make me gay, straight or a paedophile?
Wonderboy… that does make you a little strange.
so which one of the williams sisters are you backing ?
Gunner8! Dudu on the bench??!! Even with half a leg he’ll still hit the net more than RV’I'P and probablly twice or more than Ade-buy-or! What we really need is a defender, a proper one, rather a classic one, who thinks on nothin else than clearing the ball to row z, thus it can’t be a Brazilian nor Western European! Wenger should look for someone hardcore to the bone from Eastern Europe or Africa! Fergie did it, and he won him the league!
Lou,
Why did nobody sign Arshavin before Wenger? Well, you could equally ask, what took Wenger so long?
I’ll tell you why though. Because for a long time there’s been a total lack of respect (and I suspect interest) in the Russian league, and buying players from there for high transfer fees seemed like a gamble too far. It took some incredible performances from Zenit, and some great ones by Russia latterly, for us to show any interest (though we also know we weren’t the first and only club in for Arshavin, or the highest bid they ever received for him).
We got him in the end, and Kudos to Wenger (and the board) for that, but it took an absolutely diabolical first half season for Wenger to even open his eyes, and even then he didn’t sign a player in the position that we actually needed.
As for my ‘masterplan’? Well, I’m not in charge, so I don’t exactly have one, but I’ll tell you what I’m against – pissing the future of the club away for the sake of ‘giving the kids a chance’. Wenger’s made too many fundamental errors in the last few years, it’s clear his judgement is awful and his ego is out of control. He’s a sinking ship and Arsenal need to jump off.
I think both Moyes and O’Neill would do a better job than Wenger. Maybe not as coaches, but certainly they’re more tactically astute, and wouldn’t take such absurd gambles for the sake of bizarre ideologies.
Pedro, at the moment my front 3 would be that… …I hope we sell Ade though
For me i think arsene should consider buying one of this player that i gonna mention.Yoann Gourcuff. He quite a gd player to me.Have a set of wonderful skill.Arsene should rly take a look back at this player.
is gourcuff a second striker or is he a pure CAM…
That is no answer regarding Arshavin. And Moyes or O’Neil? I see. Good afternoon everyone, there must be something on the telly.
Chamkah is not even as good as Bendtner you are all in dreamland zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
yep pazzini, a truly wonderful player, a joy to the eye…..but i guess buying him would kill someone like wilshere..
Wenger was interested in Benzema, well that’s very easy to say now that he’s already been signed to Real. What a load of crap
Ok, well thanks for at least taking the effort to read, Lou!
err Dudu has not yet recovered from having half a leg
Dudu – the gayest nickname ever?
Seriously, this guy’s like Rosicky – a good player, but has become a legend whilst injured.
Wow! Jimbo, that’s strong thoughts, Hope the sun is not getting to you? Maybe you should take a nap.. All players linked with our club by the press core and their like are not realistic in any way! Cana/Naldo/Melo and whoever else you or anyone care to name will not be arriving at Arsenal FC this summer unless there is significant departures.
Judith. Of course you correct we are indeed “lumbered” with Ade for the season, and that is why I advocate that we shower him with lots of love
I think Wenger should consider buying some from this team
Stekelenburg
Motta Chyrhynskiy Juhasz Srna
Barnetta Denisov Westermann Trochowski
Janko Pogrebnyak.
Afternoon yall………
Henry – I agree, no significant arrivals are likely. And why have we come to expect that? Because we all know that Wenger is a man who can’t hack it in the summer transfer market and puts absurd amounts of faith in kids who don’t deserve it.
After his comments yesterday, I think another botched season will be too much for Arsene, and he’ll step down next summer leaving some other poor sod to clear up his steaming mess. And unless we buy a proper fucking central midfielder, that’s exactly what will happen.
we will only sign a maximum of 2 players
Anyway Henry, I’ve wanted Wenger out for a long time, and nothing’s changed.
As I said above, the guy’s an ego out of control. We absolutely need to get rid of him.
exactly jimbo we are fucked people who think this lot will deliver are very mistaken
Without being abusive Jimbo, who do you suggest we get in to replace him?
Jimbo, you don’t muck about do you?
Top comment about Rosicky and Eduardo.
Rosicky was a massive under achiever for me… yet we all eulogize about him like he was Bobby Pires!
Eduardo has the same issue… he is a great finisher and had some good stats after his first year… but he really was on the periphery during games. Sounds ridiculous, but all he did was score goals!
Stu, depends on who’s available. I’d speak to Moyes and O’Neill from the Premiership, and look abroad too. Didier Deschamps would be worth interviewing as well, and I reckon we could get him too.
But ultimately, anyone who’s not stupid enough to pin our season on a mediore kid like Denilson would be a welcome improvement.
Stu, I wouldn’t want him out… but there are plenty of good managers out there.
Moyes, Van Gaal, Rijkaard, Hiddink… etc etc…
Wenger is replaceable… just like anyone else.
anyone seen the Adebayor for sale booklet on Arseblog… …farking hilariousssssssss
Not sure about O’Neill…
Pedro, that’s why I love this place – get to say what I mean, and whilst obviously a lot of people don’t agree with me, I feel that most people will at least have the discussion rather than revert to basic platitudes!
i agree with you jimbo
Pedro, I do think that O’Neill’s done a pretty good job for Villa this year. Yes, their collapse at the end of the season wasn’t pretty, but on the other hand Wenger’s teams of recent years have shown an ability to collapse at a variety of different stages of the season and plenty of people still want him to manage us!
Good suggestions. Not sure about Moyes tho just because of the football he plays. Good manager tho…tipped to replace Fergie eventually.
Not sure about Rijkaard either. Aart from Barca he’s done nothing and i dont even know what he is doing now.
I like Dick Advocat myself. Like the football he had Zenit playing.
But anyway, these are just names to suggest really – we don’t know who’s available now, or, more likely, we don’t know who’s available next summer either. We’ll have to see, I think.
Melo is about to sign for Arsenal !! Good News!!
Melo is signing for Juve mike.
Melo is over-rated……apparently.
Why did he sign a new contract?
I sort of think so too, but he’s still a lot better than Denilsong.
Mike didn’t Melo just sign for Juve?
Just got a call from a friend in Italy. Its about to be announced!!
Who is your friend Mike?
I dont know about that Jimbo. Lots of people are saying he is like an older, thick version of Denilson.
I didnt really watch him so i’ll have to take their word for it. And he isnt a proper DM either. Any team he plays for has another DM sitting deep behind him.
looks like someone posted a hoax on goal then
Its on Italian news channels
I’ve always been a big fan of Melo, har har.
I think the point about football… is that coaching players isn’t rocket science. There are plenty in football with better C.V’s than Wenger… I love him… but if he left, I’d trust the club to replace adequately.
How did this share issue work out with Usmanov?
they did not come to an agreement yet
Wonderboy, I hope you don’t want to bum him…
Im assuming they rejected him again Pedro. Otherwise im sure something would have been announced.
” but if he left, I’d trust the club to replace adequately.”
Before Gazidis came, I wouldn’t have done.
No decision on the share issue Pedro – it won’t happen though, I don’t think.
Wierd thing to say…..
mike, your mate is winding you up.
Or you’re winding us up.
I think Pelligrini is on a similar level to Wenger. Villareal played some great passing football. And none of the crabbing that Wenger has us playing recently.
NAME YOUR SOURCCE MIKE!
Good shout Stu… he’ll probably be out of job by December!
I agree with that too Stu, though in Spain the coaches tend to have narrower roles than in England, so I’d always be apprehensive about getting a manager from there.
I’m sure we’re on the same page though – there are managers who could come in to replace Wenger, and achieve at least Arsene’s mininum of no trophies and 4th spot.
Jimbo there are hundreds of fans who agree with you-wegner and the whole board should be cleared out-another season of pure crap–same old story notice Melo and all the other players moving to other clubs of course-bring back Dein and the Usmansivov at least they know we need money to compete -not this so called youth policy does not work-Arsenal will now be finished as a world class club and all these pigs on the board will lose money big time – I for one will start to watch other teams after 50 years of gunners.
December? He could even be out before the season starts!
Pedro, if he put on a Venus Williams wig i certainly would.
Oh My Good God Ade!!
Adebayor has followed M. Owen lead and whipped up himself a rather fetching Brochure.. lol seriously I have just downloaded the document via
http://www.oleole.com/blogs/arseblog/posts/exclusive-adebayor039s-michael-owen-style-brochure
looks like he really wants to leave.
http://www.goal.com/en/news/10/italy/2009/07/04/1363424/breaking-news-fiorentina-we-are-in-negotiations-to-sell
Think it is bollocks though, there is nothing on Fiorentina’s website.
Mike you talking crap? Juve have offered 25M euros…. We would not spend that much on him! FACT!
Er…Sir Henry, i really think that you should read it again.
exactly it’s a hoax load of bollocks talk
I cant download it because i dont have the proper software. And i already knows its just a joke. But whats on it…anyone?
Fuck, it IS on the official website!
Here:
http://it.violachannel.tv/dettaglio-ultimora/items/comunicato-stampa.2220.html
That he is joining Arsenal?
“The director [Corvino] points out that Arsenal FC are the only club that has come close to [Felipe Melo’s] release clause.
“Fiorentina, in turn, has proposed that the clubs reduce the amount of this clause by entering into negotiations the right back Eboue.”
If it is true though I would be happy…..
But sounds a load of balls to me.
Maybe Juve have pulled out?
whats craig doing in that white outfit?
they want eboue as part of the deal
Can anyone translate Italian?
The Director of Fiorentina, Pantaleo Corvino deny the voices of these last hours of the market, which sees the player Felipe Melo certain other clubs and who are any meetings to define the transfer of the player states that:
1. – If the player had already reached an agreement on its behalf with any Club, the clause rescissoria determined by the same player at 25 million, does not provide any technical counterparts, unless the approval dell’ACF Fiorentina.
2nd -The Director also states that Arsenal FC are the only club that has brought stability to the figure for the clause rescissoria.
3rd – La Fiorentina, in turn, has proposed that the companies reduce the amount of clause rescissoria, entering into negotiations Eboue the right quarterback.
Jimbo, we dont speak italiano. Translate it….or is it just a random article on their site becuase i dont see Arsenal written there at all.
Where did it say that Cana looks like he is going to Liverpool? He is the answer for us and I would hate to see him at Anfield and it would be a nightmare at Spurs. We must get a DM to compete and bid our time for Denilson and Song, they are not ready yet. A tall central defender ala Hangeland would be nice as well and SELL Ade
Just a few minutes ago that same site (goal.com) posted:
Felipe Melo Agrees To Join Juventus – Report
Sky Sport Italia claims that there is an agreement in place for the Brazilian to join the Bianconeri, and all that is required to complete the move is for Juventus and Fiorentina to agree a transfer fee on Tuesday…
Fiorentina star Felipe Melo could become a Juventus player as early as next week after the player’s agent reached an agreement with the Bianconeri, according to Sky Sport Italia.
Juventus are well known to be in the market for a top-class centre midfielder, and their primary target had been Udinese’s Gaetano D’Agostino. However, the failure to agree on a transfer fee has seen Juve look elsewhere for possible alternatives.
Sky Italia claims that Juventus have reached an agreement with the agents of Felipe Melo to sign the 25-year-old, who had an outstanding first season in Serie A after arriving from Almeria last summer.
Felipe Melo only recently signed a new contract with Fiorentina, but a release clause was inserted in the deal that says he can leave for €25 million.
Juventus and Fiorentina officials will meet on Tuesday to broker the deal, and the Bianconeri are certain to include Marco Marchionni, already close to the Viola, as part of the exchange in order to lower the cost. Zdenek Grygera and Michele Paolucci are also likely to be offered in the trade.
Thanks Samir.
Sounds like a sweet deal if this Melo’s as good as everyone said he was
Wow…
So whats the deal? Melo for Eboue and 20M? Thats the shittest deal ever.
GET THE FUCK IN!
Eboue as well, ROFL! ROFL!
Melo is the dogs bollocks, in a languid, understated way. Please make it happen Arsenal!
Melo isnt worth 25m by a long way.
Stu, more like 30-35 then?
Arsenal Column (which oddly isnt in the blogroll) value him at 10m. I wouldnt want us to pay more than 15m.
lol what Paulinho? Im saying he is worth less than 20! HA!
What’s 25M euros in Sterling?
I think the deal will be around 12-15M.
With Eboue valued at about 8M..
23M ish…
Seems ok!
Denilson can learn from him…..
!YEEEEESSS FINALLY GOOD NEWS!
But it’s a funny hoax.
But again we really don’t need him to leave..
I prefer to see it as we’re paying 20 odd million to get rid of Ebway, hurrah!
I’m gonna miss that kid.
23M euros that is
Just messing Stu.
Seriously, he is substantially better than Denilson. Pay whatever Fiorentina want. Just get him, Michael Carrick, Glenn Johnson style.
Err… new post!
Cheers Mike!
But now, what happens if Sagna gets injured? Toure at RB?
There’s absolutely no way we’d pay 20 mil for someone like melo. Opinions seem to be very divided on him, there’s no chance of us paying a club record fee for a defensive midfielder! People have mistaken the 25 mil, that is only stated because it’s his release clause, any actual deal will be a fair bit less than that if it happens
If Eboue is off I bet Sakho will come in….Or any decent defender that can play both CB and RB…. Maybe ZAPATA!!!!
Bill, Toure is a decent right back. I’m not sure why people were always slating him there, I think people just jumped on the bandwagon without watching the games properly.
I’d guess maybe gavin hoyte, or coquelin or lansbury?! or maybe the reason there’s been no movement on toure nor gallas leaving, is because kolo is now gonna be right back or sub right back, so keeping both as well as vermaelen?!
