Bye, bye Ade, Ade good bye!

… did the bay city rollers know something back in the 70′s we didn’t?

Today’s post comes to you from Ethan in Thailand, enjoy…

PROFILE – Emmanuel Adebayor
Birth Date February 26, 1984
Birth Place Lome, Togo
Height: 1.91m
Weight: 73.0 kg
Age: 25
Position :Forward (backward?)
Squad # 25

Adebayor made the surprise move to join Arsenal from AS Monaco in January 2006 for a reported £7 million.

The Togo international had been excluded from the Monaco team for repeatedly missing training and he had a difficult relationship with Monaco coach Francesco Guidolin.

Adebayor had burst onto the scene in France in 2001/02 with FC Metz, but he impressed the following term when scoring 13 goals. It was that form, when still aged 17, which attracted the interest of Monaco.

But 21 goals and two-and-a-half seasons later Adebayor was on his way out of Ligue 1 bound for the Premiership.

Adebayor was also part of the Monaco side which reached the final of the Champions League in 2003/04, the same season he was named Togolese Footballer of the Year.

The striker fired Togo to the World Cup finals for the first ever time in 2006, bagging 11 goals in qualifying making him the leading scorer in Africa.

However, his troubles at Monaco spilled into the international arena shortly after he signed for Arsenal. He linked up with Togo for the African Cup of Nations but was left out of the starting line-up for the opener against the Democratic Republic of Congo after a fall-out with coach Stephen Keshi.

Rows over bonus payments have blighted his international career, but Adebayor remains the best ever player to come out of Togo.

Though he appeared very raw at times in his early appearances there was enough to suggest he would become an asset for the north London club and his first season was relatively successful.

Which leads us up to today !

Ade was successful at 17, it always seems he tries ‘initially’ and is shrouded in controversy at every club he has ever joined, he has drive and ambition in his body somewhere, but once he is on the ‘gravy train’ its obvious to me he takes his foot off the pedal.

So what was Wengers reasoning in getting the TT to start with?

The Grimster strikes again????

One can only think because he was playing in Ligue 1 France … HO HUM! Wengers infamous hunting ground.. (Which is getting one dimensional if you ask me?).

I suppose that was enough for Wenger to see if he could step up into the rigors of English football, and the EPL . Which for 4 months i think he did!

The season 07-08 from August to December saw him score 19 goals in 4 months and for a short period of time he even got one over on Ronaldo. That definitely was Ade’s only high point in his time at Arsenal for me, I think for the rest of the time he was just riding the wave of a 4 month success period.

It was enough to ensure a better pay deal for the next season, and hold the club at ransom whilst flirting with AC Milan and anyone else his agent could muster up to ensure the new wage pitch at the end of the 07/08 season ended up on Ade’s plate prior to kick off 08/09 season.

His poor performances at the start of the season, the fans booing about his loyalty issues spelled the start of the end for his career at Arsenal. All those Ade fans going quiet was one of the most joyous times of my life… It seems you can play as shit as you want for ALL of 2008, with a 10-11 game goal scoring drought, but the second you start flirting with other clubs the fans start riding you.

Cesc Beware!

This article isn’t about kicking Ade whilst he’s down, he has done that by himself. However, if he leaves, then so be it … I’ll personally wave him off at the airport (or tube station) And hopefully by the time this post has aired, Ade will already be on his way to the Chavs so someone else can pay him 80-110 k a week for being Off-side …

I hope Chelsea enjoy the 4 months of good football Ade will give them, it’ll all be down hill after that!

Mayank, i do this only for Arsenal and for my favorite Hockey team in Sweden (Björklöven), and it’s only for fun…

  2. RayGooner

thx Mayank, India is still good at hockey, but i think you mean field-hockey, i only follow icehockey…

    Hello Grovers,

Real Madrid have offered in the region of £27m for Arsenal and Manchester United target Karim Benzema after switching their attention to the 21-year-old Lyon striker from Valencia forward David Villa. (Spanish sports newspaper Marca)

  4. RayGooner

Özil is good i think, a creator with some good skills, if he can improve his goalscoring than he would be world class in a couple of years…

  5. RayGooner

It’s funny how always Real Madrid and Barca are after the same players as Arsenal & Man United just weeks, days or even hours after the english clubs have been linked with some players…

  6. Mayank

Dzeko told Sky Sport 24, “I am staying at Wolfsburg,
“But I am not happy. I would like to join Milan, but I am tied to a contract and the club have decided not to release me.”
    He’s a bit of a dick.

  7. Rohan

yea me too i quite like it..it is something you could wear to go out without looking too conspicuous(unlike the yellow kit)

  8. Cartman

its a gala match for the last of game didier agathe and gallas, ashley young, cashley, petrov,… will all play!

  9. Samir

Anyone see how FK Koln are gathering cash for the Padolski deal….. There selling pixels of his face:

At the club’s Poldi-Pixel site, fans may purchase an 8×8 pixel square for €25, which they can use to advertise a company and display wishes of goodwill towards the striker. To cover the entire fee, FC Köln will have to sell 400,000 pixels.

    http://www.thespoiler.co.uk/index.php/2009/02/04/fc-koln-find-unique-way-of-funding-podolski-transfer

Maybe we should do this to fund the transfer of Benzema. I would surly buy a few pixels….

  10. Rohan

i wonder if the USA can pull off another upset..they seem like a well oiled outfit…….
another thing that has disappointed me with both sets of the 3 Lions is that they seem bereft of any creativity or movement which makes them dreadfully boring to watch…

  11. Mayank

Go and ask for some at your local indian sweet shop. I assure you you’ll be delighted with the results.

  12. Cartman

nah, the dutchies have a shit defence, germany will be in the top 4, argentinal could be a surprise. the favarites are brazil and maybe spain!

  13. Mayank

Rohan not many of the Dutch will be putting money on themselves. They’ve been good for a while now but you know about them and trophies.

  14. Doublegooner

    Good day fellow Goons.

Still on my travels for the last 2 weeks in Israel. Back tomorrow then off to Shanghai this friday for a week.

I must strenuously point out I’m not scouting for any obscure 15 year olds on behalf of Monseuir Wenger.

However, after Geoff’s post yesterday, does anyone think it would be cheaper & a decent shout to buy back Muamba as I suspect we’re going to really regret selling him ??

I remember seeing him at the annual Barnet pre-season about 4 yrs ago & thinking he is so Vieira like.

  15. Rohan

i know..they might not win but i’m pretty sure they will pull off a major upset or two…..after stam they havent really had a good defender nad that will count against them..on the other hand their midfield and attacking options are mindblowing…

  16. Stu

I’ll be having a few quid on the dutch tho. 7 wins from 7 in their qualifying group and im sure they would have had a good defence to get that.

  17. Rohan

there is no way italy are going to win..france too are unlikely…
and you never could say with england…if rooney and gerrard strike gold..who knows??

  18. Stu

Englands best chance of a trophy was the generation Sven wasted. Gerrard, Lampard, Owen all in their prime and he did nothing with them. Not those 3 are older, Rio is getting worse aswell and any team that has Heskey as a fromt man is always gonna win nothing.

  19. Rohan

    i mean with people like
sneijder van der vaart van persie huntelaar robben affellay kuyt babel..all this just out of the top of my head..
they are atleast dark horses for the cup…
and they play entertaining football too so i’m all for it.

  20. Samir

Reports in Spain this morning have claimed that Barcelona are interested in Brazilian central midfielder Felipe Melo.

El Mundo Deportivo understands the 25-year-old defensive midfielder is a “plan B” for Barcelona who have given up on signing Javier Mascherano from Liverpool. The Champions League holders are eager to reinforce their midfield before the 2010 African Cup of Nations next January as they will lose Yaya Toure and Seydou Keita.

The Spanish paper adds that an offer of just £18m will be enough for Barcelona to convince Fiorentina to part with Melo. Inter Milan have long been tracking the Brazilian international, whilst Arsenal have also been linked.

A report in The Sunday Times adds today that “Talks are ongoing with Fiorentina over Felipe Melo. The Italians want £21m for the 26-year-old Brazil player. Arsenal are some distance from meeting that valuation, but have offered Philippe Senderos in part-exchange.”

Duncan Castles in The Sunday Times adds that “Melo has also attracted interest from Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool, who see him as a potential replacement for Javier Mascherano or Xabi Alonso.”

The Brazilian defensive midfielder is contracted to Fiorentina until the end of the 2011/2012 season, he is reportedly close to agreeing a contract extension with The Viola which would give him wage increase to give him parity with the likes of Alberto Gilardino and Sebastien Frey.

  21. Stu

In that clip Galliani could have been saying anything. Anyone able to lip read Italian?

I hope sky know their italian tho…

  22. Rohan

the only reason england bother me is because they play football in a style that is to put it lightly unappeasing to a neutral fan….
a series of long balls followed by a goal from a corner is hardly entertaining….

  23. Rohan

maybe we first need to address why muamba doesn’t even start on a regular basis for bolton? surely he can’t be much better than song and denilson if not worse….

  24. Geoff

Rohan I saw him play at Arsenal in the CC, I’ve seen him play for England on a regular basis and I rate him.

I’ve also seen the two we have and I don’t rate them.

Perhaps you should ask why Denilson at his age doesn’t feature for Brazil.

I also agree with Stu, this Muamba doesn’t start for Bolton rumour was started on here by Song lovers.

  25. Stu

I remember when Denilson signed for us everyone was telling me that he was the captain of the brazil youth side and i thought “great! A leader in the team”. But since joining he hasnt been called up to the senior side nor has he been with the junior side.

Either someone lied to me originally or he was dropped after joining us.

  26. gunning4good

nuts to janko..you want to sell a big tall player you say cant hit a barn door and replace him with a taller replica, one with less ability..unwise

ade is unlucky to have decided to show a twattish attitude at a time when gooner fans are looking for a scapegoat-the man scores roughly the same as rvp, playing the lone role more frequently than rvp-he gets told to fuck off while people beg for robin to be given 90k a week?

why have people so quickly forgotten the terrible strops shown by gallas?he got his head down and played well-ade should be given the same opportunity. Or captain cesc, a shadow of his previous self for huge chunks of the season. Or theo, a big contract and a great deal of hype but regularly frustrating.

we sell ade and buy some of the muck touted on here (chamakh, janko, dzeko) and we could happily be featuring in the europa league

  27. Geoff

I remember when we signed him Benitez said they wanted him but couldn’t compete with us financially, as we only paid £3.5 million for him I took that to mean we probably paid him £25k a week, and he was another that by-passed the reserves.

  28. Stu

Exactly Geoff, we give all the kids so much money that they want to come here. Surely the lure of Wenger isnt the sole reason the promosing youngsters join us.

And all that leads to the hige wage bill we have.

  29. Geoff

That’s how we get them and that’s why he’s reluctant to get rid of them, the Muamba’s of this world were free and their wages were low, so he sells them for £4mil and gets a pat on the back, Denilson on the other hand stands us in big money.

  30. Rohan

i think it was kelsey who said earlier that our wage bill includes all the non playing staff also unlike those of the other clubs..can someone please clarify..

  31. Stu

Well i dont see why clubs would have different wage bills like that. Surely every club should either have everyone getting paid by the club or JUST the footballers at the club.

One club accounting for everying involved and other clubs accounting for just the footballers it stupid. It should be the same for every club so there is no confusion.

  32. leon

i have said this several times ade had lost his edge he was given new contract new easily and being couted by milan has claerly gone too his head he no wer as good as he things he is yes he has talnent put telent but does not make you great player,i mixed minds about it because if he gets his head right and puts the effort he is good ado adition to the team.its not the lack of goals that concern me its,its lack of effort, for example a player like teves or runey who dont score that many goals but the put the effort in and are great team players.bottom line we have rvp, nikki b, edwardo, theo, vela,aa,risicky so there is no shortage of goals and wenger can get striker for decent price easily ebough,i do hope wenger sells him i have enough of the soap opora

  33. Ja_Gunner

The 3rd place play off is already going on its 1-1 90th min.

Spain just scored in the 88th.

    The final is at 19:30.

  34. Ja_Gunner

    Spain did not deserve that.

Spain is crap with no iniesta or Senna.

Spain just scored 2 goals in 2 mins….Guiza scoring both, the second a freak goal.

    2-1 to Spain now.

  35. Ja_Gunner

Its on a channel here in Jamaica called Sports max..its a local/caribbean owned network…I am not sure what other channel would have it.

  36. Ja_Gunner

    2-2 South Africa just scored!!!

what a game…3 goals in about 4-5 mins.

Best free kick of the tournament…

Extra time now…many South african supporters left after Spain scored their second goal in the 89 min.

South Africa deserve third..Spain have been crap.

  37. skandibird

Geoff; I am out here; – mine was also a bit of light banter, I have, after re-reading the post, realised that Ethan is the clever writer, so Ethan, well done a really good post. Rumours regarding Ribery and Benzema, if any truth in that I would be one happy supporter. I read in one of the rags that Usmanov has pledged £100m cheque to the purchase of players and that the Board are due to discuss this next week????? Any truth in that???

  38. Stu

Pearce is coming across as a right twat in the press conference imo.

He was asked about Theo playing in the middle and he said “well who says he is starting”. Or something to that affect. What a knob, trying to sound clever.

  39. Jay20h

Like the way Adebayor “is the alternative” to Dzeko for Milan. Accordin the the chairman anyway… See Ade!!?!? You aint that special sonny!!!

  40. Jay20h

Like the way Adebayor “is the alternative” to Dzeko for Milan. Accordin the the chairman anyway… See Ade!!?!? You aint that special sonny!!!

  41. Geoff

Skandi yes, Usmanov has offered to fund a rights issue, Gazidas and the board are looking at it, the caveat is Arsenal are saying we don’t need to fund big players as we already have them, ho. hum.

    Tomorrow I write about that.

  42. ethangunner

    yes jay …
it is rather funny that ade has gone from the bee’s knees to a distant 2nd to future potential from the bunders liga ..
it only goes to show you one minute your hot , the next your NOT !

ive got to say id rather have Dzeko myself ..
or benzema for that matter …

if we did have AA – benzema and cesc you would feel we could at least maintain ‘ top 4 ‘ this season , and have a outside bet of taking out the major prize .

Alas, due to wengers $restrictions$ it will be another gamble i feel this season ..

selling ade and some fringe players ASAP! is the key to our success this season , it now all hangs in the balance ….

    time will tell ..

  43. Honest Bill

Anyone else think that Samir Nasri will be a big player for us next season? I think he is possibly our most promising young player. He shows flashes of brilliance and his dribbling and ball control is first rate

  44. ethangunner

The summer of 2008 saw Arsenal favorite, Emmanuel Adebayor lose the support of many Gooners with his flirtatious off-season antics. It now appears that those broken bridges will disintegrate completely in the coming months as Adebayor’s agent, Stephane Courbis, claims an ‘important club’ have made contact with intentions of signing the leggy striker.

Courbis spent his summer last year pimping his charge out to AC Milan, and now it appears his summer holiday’s aren’t going to be much different in 2009.

‘As of today, I have not even got evidence to speak of presumed interest from Chelsea and Manchester United, it’s a given fact that Carlo Ancelotti likes the player seeing that last year he tried to sign him for Milan, although Chelsea have not contacted us.’ said Ade’s agent

‘We have not received any calls, not from Milan or Ancelotti. Another team has contacted us, but I cannot say anything, it’s a very important team. There has not been any meeting with Milan for Adebayor and lately I have not received a call on their behalf.’

‘This doesn’t mean Ade is for sale to resolve Arsenal’s economic problems. I spoke with Arsene Wenger this morning and he told me nothing of the kind.’

  45. ethangunner

well Geoff call it blind fucking luck or impeccable timing .. but the post , and the rumors
are coming together like a prefect orgasm !

just call me the oracle !

  46. BOY BETTER KNOW

in order for us to win trophys we need players like ribery, benzema and adebayor, signing players like vermaelen wil not help that even the rumours about chamakh are a laughing stock

  47. Samir

Seeing the Dzeko deal has broken down…
“I am staying at Wolfsburg,” Dzeko told Sky Sport 24.
“But I am not happy. I would like to join Milan, but I am tied to a contract and the club have decided not to release me.”

How much do you think we will get for Ade?

Wenger said he will have all the signings done by pre season so where are they?
Only 20 more days for them to arrive… Hurry up Wenger!
    Sign Melo,a striker(Benzema) OR a winger. + A CB(Zappy)……………………

  48. Stu

Arshavin in the only world class player we have at the club imo. Fabregas, Gallas, Van Persie are all just a level below. Rosicky….i cant remember what he is like but im assuming he is as god as those 3, if not better,

  49. Samir

Arsene Wenger is set to be handed a summer war chest in the region of £50million after deciding to sell Emmanuel Adebayor to the highest bidder.

Reports had initially suggested the Arsenal boss would only have £13-15m to spend as the club continue to work under the constraints of paying for the move to Emirates Stadium in 2006.

But a source within the club told Standard Sport that figure was “mischief-making” and that Wenger has been assured by chief executive Ivan Gazidis that he will have close to £25m plus whatever he generates from sales.

The Gunners’ run to the Champions League semi-finals is thought to have earned upwards of £15m in addition to the estimated £10m the club had already set aside for summer dealings.

Wenger has lost patience with Adebayor, who has almost certainly started his last game for Arsenal and can hope at best for a place among the substitutes for Sunday’s Premier League finale against Stoke.

The Frenchman is thought to consider the Togolese striker a disruptive influence in the dressing room and is still disappointed with the way he courted a move to AC Milan last summer.

The Rossonerri head a group of clubs vying for his signature that reportedly includes Chelsea and Inter Milan and Wenger has previously suggested he would not be averse to selling the striker to a domestic rival.

Although Arsenal will not receive the £30m previously tabled for Adebayor, he is still expected to fetch £20-£25m despite only scoring five goals in his last 17 games.

  50. SUGA3

RvP is a big player as well, IMO…

not to mention Gallas or even Gael and Bac – we are not that short of big players when everyone is fit (*cough*, Rosicky, *cough* Eduardo, *cough, cough*)…

adding these two would be a roaring statement of intent – I’m guessing the idea of issuing £100M worth of shares is not that bad – it is not debt, value of the club will only increase, it is only the shareholders who would have to suffer temporary loss of value, but hey, no one is willing to sell them anyway, so what is the problem?

  51. Stu

Defenders dont have to be big names to be good. Defending is all about teamwork, understanding, cohesion etc.
So therefore i would welcome any defender who is good even if i havent seen them before. I doubt Zapata will come in because he was a right back for so long. For the moment my preference would be Roland Juhasz of Anderlecht. Just because he is huge, a leader and is doing very well for both club and country. Hungaria are either top or second in their group.

  52. charybdis1966

Afternoon all, that post was vintage Ethan and entirely in keeping with the subject matter I envisaged although there did seem to be a curious change in style mid way through the piece, as if Ethan was keeping his subjectivity in check.

that was till the second half of the post – when he lets rip.
So a visceral piece there Ethan – and just to show there’s no hard feelings even though you were less than impressed by my blog, well done. :)

  53. SUGA3

teamwork, understanding and cohesion – hard to achieve where you have 2 centrebacks where one of them is a long serving player once touted to be a captain, and the other one who just came and became one for being a loudmouth: seriously, they have no chance in hell of liking each other and when the feud started on professional grounds it must affect the performance, even though AW said they did not have to like each other…

  54. charybdis1966

Also Chamakh – definitely not good enough, once Ade goes we need an established, experienced striker. If Wenger buys more “potential” I will scream.

I’m sure Chamakh is of the ilk who will say, once he gets a few goasl, “Barcelona have always been my dream team” – well if you think you’re good enough sod off and go and join them now, don’t use my Arsenal as a stepping stone you fucker.

  55. Honest Bill

SUGA3, It can also have the opposite effect. Each player wants to play at the top of their game, so that the other one is to blame when goals go in haha.

But we have more centrebacks than just those two. We now have TV. Who may well be excellent for all we know

  56. Geoff

Bill I really rate Nasri and expect he will be our new defensive midfield player, don’t want that, but I expect it.

Ethan, good going mate and you stayed with your post, well done.

You only had 3 AKB’s on and one of those calls himself that, prick.

Catch you all later, let’s hope the war chest rumours are true and he outs Ade and brings in Benzema, I’d have Flamini and Reyes back too, fuck Hleb though.

  57. Honest Bill

Geoff. Yeah I also think that Nasri is somewhat wasted on the left though, and he can be pretty tough in the tackle. So i think he could become a good DM. Although of course i would prefer someone who already is a good DM.

BUt seriously? You’d have Flam back?

  58. SUGA3

don’t want this Chamakh dude – he had one good season in Ligue 1 and his finishing is ridiculously bad…

why buy another striker when one has Eduardo, Vela, RvP, AA23, Bendtner, Walcott and others?

  59. Honest Bill

SUGA3, I agree. We don’t need another maybe man, when we already have more than enough of those

  60. SUGA3

well, it is about ONE player marshalling the defence and the other one following orders, otherwise sometimes you may get power struggle instead of synergy, which is never good…

Victory Through Harmony – now that is an accurate one ;-)

  61. Honest Bill

Haha, Good point SUGA3, and nice use of the motto. But didn’t you think that Gallas started to perform admirably once he shut that big mouth of his, and just concentrated on playing?

  62. SUGA3

I would have Flamini back in a snap – his talent is going to waste in slow, boring as fuck Serie A…

I think trying to offload him to Birmingham must have pissed him off, so he did a shop window season and left – should have offered him something in the region of 80-90K per week and finance it by flogging Denilson or some other ‘prospect’ – again, penny wise, pound foolish: it will cost at least some £15M to replace him, plus the wages in the similar bracket…

  63. leon

i feel alot of people conconstratinting to mush on the money we can get for and that being primol reason to sell him how we can get,i wont him gone simply because he is not much of team player and he does not work hard enough for the team,he is not in any position to hold the club to ransome we have at laest 4 players who can score

  64. Stu

I’d also have Flamini back in a flash. He was probably my favourite player in his final season. But even before that season i always liked his commitment, attitude and passion for the game.
Honestly, i wasnted him to get the armband ahead of Cesc and anyone else. Shame he left tho.

  65. Samir

I agree it was bloody stupid letting Flamini go but he was a greedy little bugger….
Wenger needs to get back from his holiday and BUY some decent players……
+When are we going to sell/RELSEASE some ppl+loans.
    Silvestre etc

  66. Stu

How can we be sure that Wenger is even on holidays tho. We have signed Vermaelen and we wouldnt have done that without Wenger.

It doesnt seem likely that we bought him and then Wenger left for a break.

  67. Honest Bill

Amazing video Samir. made me all misty eyed.. haha

I just think it’s odd that everyone hates Ade for wanting to go to Milan, But Flamini, who actually went, is fine, and people want him back.

  68. SUGA3

I guess it was a big mistake by Wenger to give Billy the armband in the first place – again, poor man management: giving it to Gilberto or Kolo would show the up and coming ones that it is worth to play for the shirt…

  69. Geoff

Bill I would have Flamini back but what will make you laugh is until that last season he had I rated him up there with Song!

So if Song did a Flamini, who knows, but at least Flamini used to shut people down even when he was ordinary.

I’m really off now, get ready for a questioning post tomorrow! Have a good’un all!

  70. Stu

Bill, i think its because Flamini always give his all and allowed others to express themselves.

He helped the others get better. Whereas Ade is usually poor unless everyone is doing his work.

People dislike Ade and not Flamini because Ades performance levels dropped after the raise. IMO if he hadnt gotten a pay rise then he wouldnt be getting as much abuse.

  71. Honest Bill

Yeah Geoff, I think it surprised everybody that Flamini managed to step up and grab his place in the team. But i still think it was shit of him, after the club rewarding him in such a way with first team football, that he just fucked off. I know he’s Italian, but still…

  72. Stu

*i mean, Ade doesnt help those around him do much. Flamini did and we all felt he deserved a raise to match his importance to the team.

Ade was doing what a lot of others could do but Flamini had a chemistry that noone else had with the midfield.

Honestly….i dont really know how say what im thinking……..

  73. SUGA3

HB, the point is that I would be keen to have Flamini back, as he was treated like dirt by Wenger and the board – he played in every position he was asked to play (CL 2006, anyone?) without complaining on modest wage, then he was touted to shit club like Birmingham, only in the middle of the season all this new contract thing started but it was too late – again, crap man management, IMO…

club treated him like shit, so he had one back, we are square as far as I am concerned :-)

as for Ade, he got a massive payrise for easy job of being a striker with THAT midfield behind him, whereas Flam was doing donkey’s work in front of our back four leaving Cesc free to roam and spray passes and somehow was not worth the same money or more…

  74. Honest Bill

That’s fair enough Stu, but it doesn’t change the fact that he fucked off to Italy, wheras Ade didn’t. Yet still Ade is loathed and Flamini romanticised.

I also think it’s grossly exaggerated that Ade is somehow just walking around offside all the time. I agree that he didn’t do enough last season, But it is hard when you are expected to play on your own up top. Or expected to play WF position and drag defences.

I’ve only ever seen one player who could do that effectively (Henry)

Who incidentally, is alleged to be going to MLS after he leaves Barca

SUGA3. Yes he was worth the same money or more.. What is this about him being touted to Birmingham?

  76. SUGA3

Ade is loathed for his attitude, he thinks he is big tim and his crew of hangers-on is doing all to appease his ego, so he will carry on speaking of himself in third person and posting ridiculous self-indulgence on his website…

difference between NB and Ade? reaction after a miss, offside, etc. – Ade’s stupid grin compared to NB being genuinely pissed off, I know which one I prefer…

  77. Stu

Bill, i see your point but in response i will say this:
Ade played the lone forward role for the majority of the 07-08 season as well. VP was injured, Bendtner didnt play much and Eduardo was mostly on the left wing.

It was effectively 5 men in midfield for a lot of the season becuase for a while we had Rosicky Cesc Flamini Eboue in midfield and Hleb playing the SS role. It was only when Rosicky got injured that everything fell apart in midfield imo.

I dont know why it happened but since Rosicky got injured Adebayors level has dropped.

  78. SUGA3

there was talk at the beginning of his last season of Flam being offered to Birmingham who have just been promoted with a little help from our very own Nicklas Bendtner (loan, 19 goals)…

I think Flam refused to go there and that is when he decided to fuck us over – can’t blame the fella, move to Birmingham to play with the likes of Taylor would kill his career, IMO…

  79. Honest Bill

Ade much touted grin, is quite obviously a grimmace. But i do agree about his ego. He does think he’s better than he is. And NB’s work rate is much better.

I fully expect NB to be up there in the top scorers table next season, if he can overcome the psychological problems he seems to have been having

  80. Stu

    Done even fucking start SUGA3.

When i see that grin on Ades face after a shite miss at a vital stage of the game i want to strangle the facker!

Its not all laughs, This is a serious sport for fack sake. He should be upset with himself not having a laugh!

  81. Samir

But we all know there is no chance of Wenger getting Flamini back. Maybe Francis Coquelin will step up seeing he’s the same sort of player.

  82. Stu

Whats yer opinion of getting a hypnotist in to work on the players.

Surely if its all about confidence and over coming physological barriers then it can be worked on.
Trick the players into feeling like champions once the histle blows and make them think they are on amazing form etc.

  83. Honest Bill

Samir. I think that the last thing we need is to rely on another younster who may or may not come good

  84. SUGA3

quite obviously a grimace? come on, it’s in his eyes: ‘Oh, well’…

like I said – 2 months in reserves without a payrise would do him wonders…

  85. Honest Bill

Stu. I don’t know much about the validity of Hypnotism. But if it works psychologically, then i’d advocate the entire Arsenal fanbase doing shamanic rituals, if it helps us to win

  86. SUGA3

Coq au vin is too young and would get crushed with the big boys – not yet, he will be introduced at some stage this season but we cannot rely on him just yet…
