Ok, a bit dramatic, but let me explain.
I think it is fair to say that a majority of the blogosphere is reasonably tech savvy. Arsenal are a Global brand these days and everyone wants a piece of the action. Maybe you aren’t lucky enough to be able to afford a season ticket, perhaps you live too far away to get to the ground… and maybe, just maybe… you can’t afford to subscribe to Sky or the doomed Setanta service.
So what do you do? You love your club… you want to be able to see the game… but you probably don’t fancy paying for it, so the chances are you’ll try and hook up to a streaming service.
Ahh yes, the humble stream. A clever piece of technology that allows people to hook their computer up to a Sky box and stream a game live over the internet to thousands web pirates. It’s a great piece of technology and it allows football to be spread to the masses. Streaming is a bi-product of good marketing… if people didn’t like the Premiership, they wouldn’t’ go to such extreme lengths to watch it.
The only problem is, these football pirates aren’t coughing up for their joy. They are effectively stealing from deep pockets of Rupert Murdoch and co. I believe this could have grave implications for the game.
Why?
Well, lets just imagine you’ve rented a Villa in the Algarve for two weeks. You’ve paid out a fair whack for this villa because it has a private tennis court and pool. When you get out there, you open up the back doors and you find to you horror… two German families ripping it up in YOUR pool, hogging YOUR sun loungers whilst taking full advantage of YOUR tennis facilities whilst wearing incorrect footwear!
You’ve wedged out £5k for exclusivity and you’ve found out everyone else is in on the act… for FREE!
Next time you go to book a holiday, are you going to be willing to part with the same amount of cash? Doubtful… So with that in mind, why would Sky pay the same next time around when streaming will have advanced, improved in quality and gained popularity?
What could the ramifications of this be for football?
Well, next time Sky come to negotiate, they might insist on a lower price as their product has been devalued.
This would have horrific knock on effects for our already over inflated football league. We could end up seeing Division one and two going bust (We’re pretty much on our own with 4 Professional football leagues)… Alternatively, the main clubs could decide they don’t want to accept the lower deal and decide to negotiate their own television rights. This would work well for the best clubs, but lets be fair… how much revenue is a club like Hull going to earn from a TV season ticket? Would they make £40million? I doubt it! Not good news for a league hardly renowned for fierce competition.
The other additional problem that you’d get from TV season tickets is stay at home fans… how appealing would a £1500 a year home season ticket be if you could buy a full TV ticket for £200? Geoff reminded me of a meeting he had with David Miles, the previous Arsenal MD when he stated that Arsenal were only going to go up 60,000 seats incase TV season tickets took off.
So ultimately, Arsenal wouldn’t suffer too much (Provided we could still fill the ground)… but football as a whole might.
In Italy, the clubs have agreed to sell their TV rights as a collective again due to disparity in money clubs were recieving. Whilst Milan enjoyed revenue of 85m, Chievo only received 4m. To offset the loss the big clubs are going to incur they’ve negotiated reduced payments to Serie B clubs… to the tune of 30m! Imagine if English clubs cut the parachute payment and divided up the £40million!
The problem with the league and it’s members is it’s sustainability… the chances are that even if a new Sky deal could be brokered the clubs would still struggle. Everytime a new deal is struck, players demand an increase in wages… it seems the whole system is set up to service players pockets. There has to come a day when advertisers and TV companies hit a brick wall and say enough is enough. When that day comes, things could start to unravel in a big way.
Premiership clubs don’t seem to build any sort of cash reserves for a rainy day… their budgets are tighter than chav on a 110% mortgage… It’s even worse for the smaller clubs, according to rumour, many lower divisions will go bust if they don’t receive the Setanta money that is outstanding. Imagine if the Sky deal came in at £10million a club less? Well… Liverpool’s profit would be wiped out straight away… that’s how tight things are… what would the ramifications be for the rest of the clubs who have a combined debt of £3billion (That figure is even crazier when you consider Bundesliga debt is only £400mill for 36 clubs)?
Maybe you’re thinking it wont affect the main players because they can always rely on Global shirt sales and merchandising… well think again…! I found this amazing statistic from the Guardian that might make you think twice about how much foreign fans put into clubs pockets.
‘For all the efforts made by United in the past 15 years to build a global brand and all the rhetoric about having, according to one nebulous estimate, 333m “supporters” around the world, the club’s latest results show that just £3.34m of its £256.2m annual turnover originated outside of the UK.’
Staggering! So world wide, Man United’s overseas fans contribute just under a penny each! I’m obviously ignoring the fact that many of them pay TV subscriptions to watch the Prem and that all contributes to the £9.6million extra a year clubs get as bonus wedge… but it’s still a pretty paltry figure (1.6% of their turnover to be precise).
On that point, if I was Glazer, Gillett or Abramovich, I’d be wondering why I had to take a shared cut of the £190million? Surely the top 4 do more for the Prem than the others do? Surely the top four should take more of the spoils?
That’s a naughty way to think if you agree… thoughts like the one above could be the downfall of the Premier League concept.
Ideas like the above are why I believe Oligarchs, Arabs and Texan Cowboys are lining up to buy Premiership clubs. They know the collective selling unit of the Prem may one day break… then they will have free reign to pursue their own revenue streams… then the best businessmen earn the biggest profits. Imagine how much Arsenal could earn if they sold their own TV rights and managed them across the globe?
Richard Scudamore is dealing with a different breed of club owner these days… one duff deal and they could bin the collective Premiership rights deal and that is a scary thought for British football.
Currently the only way to succeed is to spend. Until that concept is banished, clubs will continue to over stretch themselves in hope of gaining entry to the promised land… The only way to stop this madness if for clubs to start acting responsibly… to stop upping wage levels, to stop over inflating transfer fees and to start investing in a sensible business model like the Bundesliga. The self centred business ideologies of the few could kill the collective power that has made the Premiership so strong… and to think, all this started because of bloggers!
And to think Arsenal agreed to employ Alex Ferguson as manager with George Graham as his assistant in 1986 but the deal didn’t go ahead because Arsenal wanted to announce it straight away, I wonder where we’d be now if that had happened?

That post reminds me of my macroeconomics paper I took years ago – arrgghh, the erosion of barriers to market entry. I do see the nigt teams negotiating their own TV deals eventually – no doubt Platini would want it that way as they do that in Spain and Italy and he likes England to copy them.
Mind you it is surprising to think that AFC wanted to act quickly in appointing new members of staff in the past. Nowadays transfers are long, drawn out affairs – like pulling wisdom teeth out, slow, painful and no relief at the end.

There are a huge number of people who don’t understand the concept of ownership. Downloading is illegal, it benefits no-one apart from the recipient.
I speak from experience having owned a chain of music shops in London. Following the development of MP3 and the rise of illegal downloading (Emule, Utorrent, Pirate Bay etc etc) our sales fell through the floor, and within 3 years a successful company went under.
On a personal note, I was happy to move on, but who could deny that the High Street is less interesting now that Record Shops have disappeared ?
So, what do I do? Stop watching streams? How can I watch cricket when Sky don’t broadcast here?
The answer is for Sky to start a Broadband service that I can pay for. Why don’t they?

Well its definitely a theory but if a product is popular it will make a profit. How much did music piracy effect the music business? It effected the labels but not the bands. It actually made the bands you didn’t hear of because the labels didn’t think they were marketable more popular than they would have been. Same might apply for football clubs the big boys will continue as if nothing happened but the smaller clubs may actually get fan following outside their local pub.

For e.g this band i heard of recently string cheese incident they don’t have albums available here neither do they have YT videos just a few live performances i wouldn’t have got to hear it but for piracy. I don’t like much mainstream music bar a few acts so its harder for me to get hold of my favorite bands’ CDs in India but if they do become available i’d buy it if they toured here I’d go. So technically piracy has helped them gain popularity. Anyone with anti-commercial tendencies for football might start following a small team like stoke etc.
The bubble will burst one day, whether it’s bloggers or the high tax that drives the best away. Why play here for 80,000 just to give half away. With the greed that is in players nowadays I’m sure they’d prefer to just go Spain.

Also I did an article about the major vs indie labels a few years back, and the indie labels are glad for the downloading programs and emergence of internet. It just hit’s the Major labels who have been exploiting music all those years anyway. But still they make a nice profit as the major mainstream artists are all signed up to them. The major artists don’t lose anything, and the new up and comers and the “non-format” styles are benefiting.
It’s like with the pirate rock radio stations in the 70′s. And like now I listen to pirate radio instead of the mainstream shit that is all the same.
Fuck the rich getting richer and us getting fed the same mainstream bullshit.

…in 3-4 years, SKY will start the transition to web based TV. They will also develop a way to stop pirate streaming……think about it!! You think a company like SKY does not have advisors looking into things like this. The sums are too high to ignore……
Its the ongoing Tech merry go round that has been happening for ages. People will always find ways to copy and re-present a product ilegally. The company then puts a stop to that then someone else finds a new way to copy / re-present that product in a different form……..it will never stop however, the owners of the information ensure that the numbers are kept to a minimum and that the re-produced / copied product is never the same in quality.

The point about why these billionaires are jumping in is very accurate. A lot of people are of the opinion these guys bought in because they wanted a ‘billionaires plaything’ – but very few of these guys are interested in throwing £200m away, they see it as an investment, particularly the Arabs. When this many rich people from across the globe start buying in you have to think they are in the know about something.
My theory;
The premiership as a product is outgrowing its own structure, it is the major league in world football by a million miles, and it is realistically just 3 players (Kaka, Messi, Ribery) away from total football domination.
The plan is to merge the formats of the Champs league and Premiership/Serie A/La Liga into the often mentioned European super league, however played on a global scale – think Arsenal vs Milan in tokyo, UTD vs Bayern in Beijing etc. The 39th game idea was the start of this transition, and clubs spreading their tentacles into India, China, Vietnam etc is a joint marketing effort.
In terms of the financial implications, imagine adding the total TV revenue from UK, Spanish, Italian, German, French football, add on the revenues from across the world – then divide 80% of that between just 40 odd clubs, with most going to 20 clubs. (The Europa league thingy may be a proving ground for a 2 tier system).
This would effectively see teams like Arsenal, Chelsea TV revenue go from £70m pa to likely £300m+ pa, meaning turnover of £1bn pa for a big club would be entirely possible.
This would create basically the only game in the football world, all other competitions would be irrelevant, similar to the dominance F1 has in motorsport.

By that I mean in introducing commercial and pay-per-view television, the original (ethical) principle of television being an accessible medium to all the masses in the UK has been compromised…The license fee payer should have access to programmes like the premier league football. From this perspective internet streaming is indeed a welcomed idea…What the collapse of Setanta, whose participation was only possible through the intervention of European courts, perhaps highlights the stranglehold Sky has in the digital television market – whilst they keep turning out large profits competitors collapse (I think the large financial barriers it had to scale to compete with Sky may have contributed to its downfall)…In addition, I think customers of Sky are charged the most for viewing football than other European countries. Moreover, the number of people streaming compared to those subscribing is relatively small at the moment…The Bundesliga is hosted on the national broadcaster CCTV in China and airs for free to the general populace…You can watch champions league and premier league matches for free on Nigeria channels, in fact you are likely to get more live matches EPL in Africa and other parts of the world than you do as an overcharged Sky paying customer in the UK.
This perhaps, points out why our club is so attractive to investors – not only do we live within our means but are also well placed to take advantage of the this ‘honeymoon’ period in football. We are less likely to be victims of the calamitous scenario you describe Pedro

i read somewhere they are planning to sell 9 players and buy 6 inc. Kaka and Ronaldo. They have spent already a 140 million (half of our stadium debt), 4 more would cost somehwere around 120. Make it 260.

Manchester United have accepted a world record £80 million bid from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo.
A statement on United’s official website read: “Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of £80 million for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

Once comment I’d like to make about Arsenal TV is….a few years ago when I subscribed I had disabled Internet Explorer on my computer and was unable to watch it yet Arsenal told me that it would work on Firefox. It doesn’t.
This is because Arsenal have a deal with Micro$oft that IE will be the browser used. Then I tried it again and
started getting streams which slowed down, the buffering was lame….there were pirate streams offering a better picture than the official station!
I’m going to give Arsenal TV a third chance and hopefully this time around I will get a crystal clear service with no interruptions.
Streaming, like tapes copied one to the other and all other ways of copying media, is here to stay. There was recently a court case in the Netherlands regarding streams and there are many grey areas. Say for example you make a home video of yourself watching TV, the fact that the TV is in the background is secondary and in theory anyone who is trying to prevent you from broadcasting a film or video that you’ve made is interfering with your rights to free transmission on the internet.
How did musicians earn money before radio (non-paying users listen to free broadcasts)? By performing live at events. If another person or group of people copied the tune no one ran around making lawsuits, it was flattering to the original composer or singer, it made them more famous yet people still sought the original composer out even though for example they could platy the same tune at home on their piano.
When radio arrived on the scene, some artists were against having their tunes played since they believed it would reduce sales. It only magnified sales and created cult followings.
When the cassette recorder came onto the market there was the same furore about people making illegal copies. Yet cassettes sold by the bucketload.
When MTV began, artists protested that why would people buy a record or a cassette if the could record the video for free. But MTV just pushed the industry to the next level.
Now we have advanced file-sharing technologies where it is simple to get a copy of almost any tune or film you want. And artists have been “hit hard”.
Nowadays it’s far more difficult to make tens of millions of dollars through pester power where young people coerced their parents into buying them the latest pop song. So their tactics have to change. Now
they have to sell T-Shirts and concert tickets to make profits and their music simply serves as an advert.
I watch certain streams from various parts of Europe that I would never have had access to without and would never have subscribed to anyway. But it gets me interested in football from other leagues and many of the stream generation now are into football more than ever and will most probably at some point buy some merchandise associated to the club they support or like watching in that league, and perhaps consume some media which includes paid advertising which in turn leads to those media outlets providing income for the club/leagues.
Why do BBC World Service and Voice of America (the U.S govt radio station) broadcast on the radio free 24/7 worldwide? Because they fully understand this model, that it benefits their countries either directly or indirectly. For example on VOA.com they provide free English lessons and mp3s alongside their articles for anyone who cares to log on, it’s in their interest for as many people in the world as possible to speak English.
The Sky model has in many ways helped but also made football clubs dependent on artificial amounts of money to compete and get by which are disproportional to real world costs.
Someone getting 50k a week to kick a football around?
How is this possible? People do important jobs and study for years to earn a fraction of that amount per week. The cost of production in football is artificial.
Just like, do Madonna or Michael Jackson really deserve to have millions of $? Only because of an artificial system where a select few got coverage by the mass media, where they produced their products for pennies and sold them for pounds, there was limited competition to producing this media (casettes, Cds etc.).
So they day has arrived where the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson can no longer be as prosperous in the new media age, their chosen careers may earn them hundreds of thousands of pounds a year, not millions if they’re successful and to earn that money they have to put a lot of effort in. People have access to thousands of different types of media, not 3 or 4 tv stations and licenced broadcasters who have payed gargantuan amounts of money to manipulate public opinion for personal gain whereas the average person had no voice at all, 1 way traffic.
Football is heading the same way, back to the 1910s where a clubs’ income was based on stadium attendance, local advertising and food and drink sales. Which means lower wages for players (good wages nevertheless) and the media can serve as a free advert for the merchandise of the clubs, spread the clubs’ prestige. Arsenal were a very prosperous club back then as were many others so I don’t necessarily see it as a bad thing that players might not be in a position to make demands of 100k because 50k a week is not enough for them, then even have the audacity to critcise fans for not singing enough after games.
Some of these players have red carpet rolled out for them wherever they go and appreciate their role as players representing a club far less than players of yesteryear that earned far less than them.
Football became the sport of the people because it was cheap to produce, all you need is a pitch, a pair of goalposts and once the cost of the stadium is covered it is pure profit. In the old days the average factory worker or coalminer could happily turn up at the stadium, pay for a ticket which maybe cost him an hours wages, had affordable beer and snacks available to him and had a great time singing and chanting with his friends. Now the working person is asked to pay a day’s wages + food and drink to support their team. Why? Because Sky have made footballers wages so high. Now Ronaldo has been sold for something like 90 million euros, for a human being not a new airport, it’s insane so the sooner football restores parity with reality the better.
I didn’t know that Franchise… I do know that Italy have scrapped the individual tv deal thing as it’s not fair on the smaller clubs.

The bottom line is if you have a good product it will be in demand, and clubs with too much leverage deserve to go under if their product is not in demand in conjunction to the leverage. I’v read the reason behind this is that all teams play attacking football which then obviously brings out the crowds, which makes sense if u look at it. i started supporting Arsenal over anyone else because of their style of play when i started to take notice of football.

KM-I can see Wolfsburg sticking to their guns for only so long. They just want to make sure they get there fair share of Kaka’s windfall from Milan. I think the player will want to leave as he will see a big step up in his career, but also clearly the Germans do not want to appear as if they are easy sellers so will play a bit of hardball. If Milan bite and come back in with another offer, Wolfsburg will panic that they may not be able to cash in again and will do so accordingly. That’s the way I think it will play out.
rosicky imo if fit could be absolutely pivotal next year…he is our only complete all action midfielder at the moment and is one who can plaay all across the midfield……he will also add a bit of experience?? and is a leader as he is the czech capitano.

Arindam I disagree completely – on song Ade is nowhere near Etoo! Etoo is quality in that role, because he can also drift out wide, and deep into midfield, and be effective there. The player who plays that role needs those attributes and granted on song Ade will score goals, but he just doesn’t have the intelligence or technique to drop into midfield or out wide and be effective, he was a waste of space when he tried to do that, even at his very best in his wonder season!

There is no justification for the vitriol that the club have received for not producing a trophy.
The arguments about moderation still apply Pedro. I am hardly a militant as you put it. I think you employ double standards on this one. You allow abuse of AKBs and any element of the club that sits with your dissatisfaction, but you baulk at abuse (well earned in my view) directed at some of the posters on this forum, who are attacking the club that we love. I understand what standards you apply to your moderation because I am in frequent contact with bloggers who tell me that they have been moderated just for being too positive, and for objecting to the negativity of other bloggers.
That to me is not argumentative behaviour or abuse. It is people, quite rightly in my view, not tolerating abuse (the operative word), of the club, the players and the manager.
With respect to blogging in an agressive forum. I think you will find this is the most aggressive of the lot. You frequently employ the ‘c’ word. You have no problem behind the aggression directed at the club, but you try to make the distinction that it is not aggression between bloggers. Nasri we desperately needed in the summer as well, we’d lost Hleb. If Nasri hadn’t been playing all season then Eboue would have been starting EVERY game at left mid?!
Wenger tried to get in a DM as well but the deals fell through. I wouldn’t have said we needed a centre back last summer, I would’ve hoped for Senderos to break into the set up, but I guess he’d lost his head with us and wanted a fresh start in Milan.

Duke he did have priority targets…. The most difficult skill in football is creating goals, and with Hleb leaving that was the number one priority, and Nasri fitted the bill. In January we hadn’t had Rosicky return as we’d expected, so again we were a player down on the creative front so that had to be our number one priority again.
Alonso in for Denilson/Song would not have improved us as much as having Diaby/Eboue in all season rather than Nasri/Arshavin would have limited us imo

A, he could have dropped RvP into that position, or kept Gilberto, pay Flam the little extra he asked, he had options, Gil and Flam didn’t want to leave as much as Hleb, so getting Nasri in was very important, but should have kept the other 2 until getting a replacement. Also we had Vela who could play there. I mean we had options, for me it was juvenile that he didn’t get a DM, and our season turned out how it did because of it.

i think Robben is an out and out winger who hugs the left channel who chips in with a few goals as well. i think hleb for us was more like a no.10 he controlled the game and 1 on 1 was amazing (didnt rely on pace just pure skill)and that sort of player is very rare to find.

I am not trying to defend the indefensible. If an LG blogger comes onto ACLF and is subject to disproportionate abuse then that is not fair.
What actually happens on ACLF, is that some from LG come on to troll the site. This is all tittle tattle I know. I’m not very interested in comparing the merits of the two sites. I am interested in knowing why the two moderators of this site are consistently sceptical about the club and seemed to have raised expectation levels about what we should achieve.
When questioned very hard, their recourse is normally to hit the moderation button. This happened recently when Faceman pointed out some very accurate figures on the state of our finances. He was binned by Geoff, albeit let back on to the site after. I am not impressed by this kind of behaviour. It suggests to me that the strength of their arguments is bolstered by the power of the moderation button. Do you seriously believe that the club should receive so much criticism ?

Robben is big, powerful, and can penetrate against any defence. He has to be indulged, but then most players do.
This season we were powder-puff offensively against the top teams in the crunch games and we didn’t even have the Hleb-like subtlety to compensate for it either, so weren’t able to wear teams down with purposeful, probing possession.
We’re not going to get anyone as good as Hleb to play the methodical passing game so we may as well go the whole hog and play more direct and explicit and bring in Robben to play with Arshavin.
If Fabregas can’t cope in this more expansive, stretched game then he can go. I’ve always said Hleb’s departure has rendered him expendable.

Nah Franchise, a good free kick taker is dependant on the conversion rate! Ronaldo takes 30 free kicks to score each of his, and the likes of Juninho, Del Piero, Beckham when he was still good at them scored around a goal for every 5 or 6 attempts.
Ronaldo 3/4 of the way through the season was actually the WORST free kick taker in the prem out of every player who’d scored a free kick during the season!

He is roughly denilson height, not a high line DM like Flamini, more deep lying, takes up similar positions as Le Coq / Dolphin / Marscherano but not as agressive in moving towards the ball, does have a nice passing game though.
I would liken him to Rio Mavuba or Ever Banega , a good all round DM but not a huge presence.
I think we are in need of a lot more physicalality & power (& height) at present.

Well, on the form we showed in that run, if we’d dont that all season, we wouldve finished;

And no matter how good Arshavin is he will not stop us conceeding 37 odd goals, and giving away 2 goals in 5 minutes against Spurs, and giving the 3 points away against Villa, and blowing the lead 3 times in 45 minutes against the dippers!
Arshavin is great, but our problems run deeper, and are much greater than a playmaker.
No way Gibbs is too big for the League Cup, unless he’s displaced Clichy as first choice from the start of the season! The only players definitely ruled out of the League Cup are the likes of Cesc, and VP who play every game, fringe players will still play, though we’ve got more kids than usual to give games to as well!

I agree that we’ve got far from the perfect team with Arshavin, but none of the top 4 are perfect. With Arshavin we’re a hell of a lot closer than people give us credit for, and with Rosicky, Eduardo, and Gallas or a new signing back we’re on par with the others, though we need new signings so we’re on par defensively if someone is out injured

I’d imagine it’ll be Fabianski in goal unless he’s taken over from Almunia, in which case it would be him, JD is almost certain to play, as are Wilshere, Ramsey, and Vela.
If Arshavin and Rosicky are said to be first choice then Theo or Nasri could even play, Bendy still could, or Eduardo, depending on who’s considered first choice strikers, Denilson or Song depending on first choice centre mids. We have alot more strength in depth than previously, so the team could have alot more experience in it than in the last few years!
i would like some one with a presence about them dont have to be big just hard and mean to make players not want to play against em or kick our kids knowing they will have this “orrible” git to deal with

Cos he hasnt really got a future here and he’s too good for reserve footy and getting beyond a loan.
Think about it, he is playing for 1 place in the team, and he’s behind Cesc, Denilson, Diaby, Ramsey and maybe even Wilshere.
There’s no point hanging onto a guy thats never gonna progress, the same can be said with Randall, who incidentally has been ahead of Merida in the pecking order.
He was for the first half of the season David. Gibbs could be left back in the league cup team, Traore left mid. Merida I think should go on loan to a premiership team or West Brom or equivalent in the championship to get in some games.
Irish – forgot about Barazite too, if not on loan then he’d be pretty likely to play.
We really do have alot of players in the first team/reserve squads currently, some players will need to go on loan

I think Aw would have a look at both players come pre-season and decide which one to go for. From my memory Gibbs was more reassuring at the left back position and of course he’s English. Don’t forget we’ve also got 6ft2″ Brazilian on loan in Spain that can also play that position – Boetelho I think his name is. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised if Traore was sold or sent out on loan again, perhaps he could be used as a back up left winger he played that position quite a few times at Pompey

Gambon I wouldn’t say he’s behind wilshere, they’re on par probably, Wilshere was in the first team squad at the start of the season, Merida second half of the season.
I think he should be sent on loan as currently he isn’t gonna get a look in and needs first team football to develop, but he’s a top top talent and it’d be a big big mistake to let him go permanently.
I agree about randall though, he should be offloaded, but not merida, who progressed throughout last season in the reserves, whereas randall seemed to go backwards

Traore only goal for pompey was surprising…nobody expected anything from him until he scored…I think he would be a good option in the games where Vela cant seem to get a foot in the game on the left wing…and maybe required when we play more “aggressive” teams…Vela needs to work on upper body strength like Theo did…..all these short bastards…

I want either Cana, Veloso or Matuidi. All very combative and strong lads. Veloso is more of a footballer than the three of them and would probably suit our style more. I remember somewhere he is a mix of a defensive midfielder, David Beckham and pony tricks. David Beckham because of his set peices, vision and passing and pony tricks because he can pull out a few classy tricks. All he wanted to do was leave the club to go to a bigger one, and in good spirits. The media picked up on it, made some twists and turns and fucked up the relationship between him, Sporting and their fans.

So have other world-class players that hailed from Sporting. Veloso is 23 and is a integral player in the Sporting set-up. Thats why there is a big fuss. He said that once himself. He said this when he was in good relationship with the club. He stated that Sporting didn’t even tell him about any bid. So in my view, Sporting have fucked about too. It isn’t just goals and assists anyways, in my eyes there are three ways to influence a team attacking wise; goals, assists, and all round play (making things kick, ball retention, general creativity etc)

yeah you can, it’s just 3 8 hour shifts, you work one morning, which is something like 8-4, one evening 4-12, and one night 12-8. Just luck that dictates when your shifts are! Though you can arrive the weekend before and get all your shifts out the way before it even starts but that means being there camping from sat-monday and it’s a bit too long for me! Other than the shifts you’re free to do whatever you want as in any other festival, apart from you get to camp in the oxfam area which is nicer, and has decent showers and bogs!
I’ve not got emirates cup tickets just yet but probably be there, trying to sort myself a proper job before i spend any money on stuff like that!
