Gallas to go to Juve, now that’s a bad idea, but what about Taylor?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Well if reports are correct that Billy boy is going to Juve then I would be disappointed as I think he is our best defender by a country mile. Also I read that Senderos is returning, which again makes little sense, but as Arsenal.com say nothing I guess we have to anaylse the gossip that we all read.

I say gossip because some of it is just that, but sometimes they have it right, like when we signed Samir Nasri or when Real signed Kaka.

I got into a long debate last night with a chum that thought we should be grateful for finishing 4th and losing two semi finals, I told him that had we made the signings we are still debating now, we maybe would have won those semis and finished 1st, he didn’t agree, but he also bet me £1,000 that Biafra was east of India! And no, I didn’t see the money!

I thought the Shareholders newsletter sent out by Gazidas was a little patronising, can you imagine Chelsea or ManU bragging about winning nothing?

YaYa turned us down again, if it’s to be believed I wish we’d stop asking him, if he’s that good then why would Barca let him go? I just wish that we would sign Cana or someone like Cana, I assume our network of scouts started looking in August, so if we are to sign quality players then why don’t we just get them now. Waiting for all the big boys to get fed first is like being pushed around in the school playground, or like being a girl lion and watching the big boys eat first.

Finally I would like someone to tell me how Real Madrid can continually spend the huge sums they do, they are a third world country for Christ’s sake, they must be hugely in debt and they had an average attendance this season of 73,157 which is not much more than us and given that they probably charge fans 4 pesos to get in, their income is nowhere near ours either so how can they keep spending what they do?

At least we’re not looking at Michael Owen though! Still I would have a look at the centre back Steven Taylor, he would be cheap, he is EPL proven and he miles better than fish head.

Have another hopeful day Grovers, you never know…

And castaignos is really talented. He was topscorer of the tournement u17 and he is the biggest propect of feyenoord!! What a talent!! But we have enough of these.

  2. dennisdamenace

You know height is no guarantee of heading ability, i mean look at that freak Crouch, he’s got fucking snow on his noggin, and quite frankly he’s utter shite in the air……

  3. Pedro

Keyser, Newcastle fans are the best in the world.

    Yellow card for that comment.

BBK is a bit of an attention seeker… now everyone wants Ade gone, he’s changed his tune…

  4. Franchise

vermealen and gallas would work IMO. the willingness to attack balls whilst defending is what we lack. we seem to wait for the balls rather than attack it. the player backing in to a defender to contest a ball is normally at a disadvantage cos the CB can have a running jump.

that is why drogba is so good when it comes to winning duels cos he sticks close to the CBs not allowing them to have that running jump advantage. he maintains contact, out powers the CB and most times he is so comfortable that he can even chest the ball although he is being harrassed. he is so strong

  5. Nick

pedro no dont play him in the middle ffs he plays defence and well so play him there not outta position  if that what you ment :)

  6. BOY BETTER KNOW

yes duthman but has the induvidial got pace ie vermaelen……would he keep up with theo in a race?

  7. Wardo

Denis…good point bout Crouch – made me laugh also.

Anyways, how tall is Cahill ?? Seen him jump ?? How many headers has he scored from….and he is around 5″9.

Also, how tall are Barca’s defenders ?? Not that tall….could you imagine Stock beating them just cause they have height.

If we build a team like Barca (and we’re not that far away from that) with a team that can dominate play with the ball on the ground from defence to midfield, all we need is an intelligent striker like Edu, Arshavin, Bentner (when he finds scoring touch) and we will challenge..

  8. KM frm WALES

    Player: Goran Pandev

Pandev may have played his last game with Lazio as he hopes to move on in his career, Goal.com reports.

Analysis: Pandev is a super player, but may have to come off the bench if he plays for a bigger side.

    its everywhere…

  9. Coadsi

    Gallas to Juve in interesting.
    Gallas 5’5”
    Canavaro 5’1”
    Chiellini 6’3”
One will have to accept a bench role, or they could just send Chiellini the other way plus 8 mil.
Of all the defenders mentioned in the past i think i would prefer this one for us
    Roland Juhasz
    RSC Anderlecht Defender
Height: 1.93m. Weight: 80.00kg. Nationality: Hungary
    Born: 01/07/1983
All those youtube clips of the vermanator shows him scoring goals (which has its place) but i have never seen one of his defending. afterall thats why we want him for his defending abilities.
I think we should swap with anderlecht; Sendy for Juhasz

  10. The_Arshavin_Show

i am 5’10″ and i regularly outjump defenders over 6′ for out local games.

    its not about height mates

its about balls to go for the ball

  11. Wardo

BBK – no I’m not. In Europe we are probably closer to playing the ball around to Barca than anyone else.

The problem is, we need to go one step further and that will take 3/4 signings of top quality

  12. Mark C

Newcastle bought Bassong for 500k, and now he is being touted for 12 mill?

He has not even played for France or Cameron.

I think we should be looking at a better class of player than this.

  13. Franchise

if we wanna go for height lets sign the retired igor tudor (juventus, croatia) he was a monster i think like 6’7″

  14. charybdis1966

Lovely jubbly Pedro, BTW good call on the “smoke and mirrors” strategy the AFC board are using with us on your post yesterday.
Maybe I’m just feeling a bit doom-laden as it’s grey and miserable out, BBK. Flamin’ June ? My arse.
“Looking on the upside” (as Charlie always says in Two and a half men) maybe cos Wenger actually said this year that he wants to conclude our transfer activity early he actually will.

  15. Franchise

why are we wasting time discussing verm when we know we are going to sign bassong? 8O

stu and irish on a date…. nice

  16. Dutchman

Yes i am sure!! The one who he is jumped out there, franches is charisteas He is 1.90m!!!
And bassong coming to arsenal???? Vermealen is an arsenal player!! SO, vermealen and bassong?? toure is going away!! Than we have a frenche defence!! But are you sure franchise??

Jorge Valdano has revealed that Real Madrid do not have any youngsters that are good enough to step up to the first-team and command a regular place.

Los Merengues’ new director general has been surprised at the dearth of talent at the club and thinks that a major overhaul of the youth team policy is required.

Madrid have the biggest scouting network in Spain and state of the art training facilities, yet Valdano has discovered that no top class youngster are being produced.

“It doesn’t appear that there are any players ready to play for the first team and players on the ‘C’ team are having trouble making it to Castilla,” he told TVE.

“Our progress in capturing young talent has slowed. We have looked into markets in far off places and turned a back to Madrid, which is where most players have come from. The selection of talent is more important than their development, and that is what might take some time.”

Valdano defended the club’s policy of splashing the cash to secure world class players, while the youth team suffers, because he believes that big money signings create even an bigger income.

“We pay a lot for players because it is all returned with interest. Top-notch players significantly increase the quality of our contracts,” he continued.

“It happened with Zidane and we want it to happen again. They are investments for a club that operates in the business of offering spectacle. It’s like movie blockbuster, for example.

“Football is a sport, but it is also a business and content for the television industry. We would not be able to compete against teams like Berlusconi’s Milan or Abramovich’s Chelsea if that wasn’t the case. We have to devise other ways to be the leader of the world of football.”

“During [president Florentino Perez's] first stint seven titles were won in three years. The last two years were complicated, but you mustn’t forget the overall picture.

“The budget increased drastically and had it not, we wouldn’t have been able to sign great players.”

  18. Franchise

no dutchman the verm rumours are too strong not to be true. it might be a case of nasri or trabelsi

  19. Franchise

things are kicking off BBK on the romance front myself and DDM exchanged emails today

just kidding about stu and irish but its strange that they arent on today

  20. Ryan L

Can anyone see the funny side about arguing about defenders having height, after the return of Big Phil Senderos is mooted in the initial post ?!! Tall but shit would be the consensus there ??

  21. Franchise

    i like that line coadsi

“The selection of talent is more important than their development, and that is what might take some time”

  22. Ryan L

That story about Ferguson turning down Arsenal in 1986 – must be true hey, after all its only taken 23 years to come out !!

  23. Nick

Even news now are running out of bollocks about us one headline does danny murhy deserve england call what the fuck do arsenal fans care ;) and this
Arsenal legend and Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith believes Everton star Jack Rodwell can be every bit as good as Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand.

The former Gunners striker will get to see Rodwell at close hand this summer at the Under 21 European Championships in Sweden, and Smith believes Rodwell has the perfect temperament to perform on the big stage, even though he may not start from offset.

Smith told Sky Sports: “I’m a big fan of Jack Rodwell, although I’m not so sure he’ll get into the starting XI for the first game.”

“I spoke to David Moyes about him and long term he sees him as a centre-half; comparisons are there to be made with Rio Ferdinand.”

He added: “He is a cool, composed player with a great big-match temperament and I’m a big fan.”

Rodwell is one of the brightest young talents in English football, and although he has made a string of appearances in Everton’s midfield, the Toffees coaching staff have regularly earmarked him as a future centre-back. again what the fuck do arsenal fans care :)

  24. Franchise

mannone passes to bassong who passes it out from defence to alex song who lobs the ball to ade replacement frimpong

  25. Rohan

isn’t kolo’s first/second language french anyway..so the defence is anyway french. even with djourou in…the same goes for the swiss)

moving on weren;t we mertesacker’s dream club..he would be phenomenal for us imo 6ft4 and technicall good..he would solve all our defensive frailties.
mabe stu knows more about the german league and him.

  26. Franchise

oh i forgot we also have a midfielder called frimpong. wow a 4-3-3 with bassong, song and frimpong in the middle

  27. Coadsi

one thing for sure cartman he would rot in RM youth team (well prolly his dad will be in charge of the team by then)

  28. Rohan

i really don’t think we need a song with more bass…
a good old fashioned nutter of a center back will do… mertesacker or chiellini for me.
we could also probably get metzelder on the cheap given that he is out of favour at RM but he has not convinced me lately. we can also put in a cheeky bid for huntelaar and maybe one for sneijder or vdv.

  29. Rohan

really dutchman, from what i have seen he lacks pace but he makes up for it with a clinical finish. he is also pretty decent in the air from what i have seen.
however his link up play mayybe not be as good..i haven’t seen him enough to guage that.

  30. charybdis1966

Yup Dennis – the one-liners are absolute crackers on that programme and they have quite a few hotties guest starring. I recall that Megan Fox appeared on it once, as did that blonde porn star.

Assuming I go to the Barnet game I’m looking forward to seeing our tall centre back and our dominating DM, as well as a replacement for the Togonator, if he’s offloaded.

  31. Coadsi

Rohan the only real madrid reject i would consider is M Diarra. while some of the others are arsenal type players, like sneijder (because he is injury prone) because of the wages they are use to it will never happen.
they prolly would also be affected mentally…….imagine earning 120k per week before and now only 50k at arsenal……..perish the thought (modern day slavery)

  32. Dutchman

BBK, i think we have a good team but AW is tactical shit. Look at the players for the future(the video) The most of them have make it right now.
Look to our corrent team: almunia/sagna/gallas/toure/clichy/denilson/rosicky/fabregas/arshavin/eduardo/v persie Bank: fabianski, song, djourou, nasri, adebayor, vela, bendtner
    Than you have wilshere,gibbs,ramsey etc.
We have a really good squad but AW is tactical shit!!

    Excerpt

REAL MADRID have cooled their interest in Franck Ribery after Bayern Munich slapped a huge £85.7million price-tag on his head.
The Spanish giants’ president Florentino Perez had named the French playmaker as a potential new Galatico.

But Bayern are reluctant to part with their prized asset and have set a massive asking price.

  34. choy

Arsenal fight City for £15million former United striker?

Reports in Italy suggest Arsenal Football Club are keen on Giuseppe Rossi.

Since leaving Manchester United the American-born Italian has established himself as a genuine talent in La Liga, where he stars for Villarreal.

Earlier this week Manchester City were linked with a move for the 22-year-old, and now El Correo Digital claim the Gunners are interested in the player.

It is unlikely the Spaniards would consider selling Rossi this summer, but Arsene Wenger hopes an offer of £15million will force their hand

  35. Man

Providing he is over his health problems, De La Red at RM is one player I like.

BBK – I would bet you that if we sign 2/3 players for the first team, without losing any of our first 16/17 players, we would win at least one trophy next season!

  36. Franchise

if we get Mike riley, Steve Bennett, Howard Webb, Alan Wiley, Mark Clattenburg, Phil Dowd, Rob Styles on our side we would win the league :D

  37. Wardo

dont be stupid Franchise…..Manure bought them ages ago and wont sell them as they all play a major roll in Manures success :D

  38. Wardo

Franchise…..they cost manure more than that my friend. Think Manure still give them extremely generous bonus’ around late April / early may….

  39. Stu

Im still not sure whats going on. Nothing to do with an outside influence. Just not paying attention to what im tyoing.

  40. Keyser

Actually why is Stu back early ? Did you do the old ‘I’m just going to the bathroom’ routine at bill time ?!

  41. Mayank

    Hello…
Nice to see no heated arguments about Ade or Wenger of finances.OPINION!
Dunno why stu i found that very funny.

  42. Dutchman

Franchise do you belief in that riducolous story of 13m budget. That is funny!!
Why gibbs don’t work. He is really good in the middle or LM.

  43. Nick

seems to like a tackle as well the size of that leg you wouldn’t want that hitting ya a pass weather or not would be made with him about

  44. Franchise

dutchman gibbs is not a DM for a start and he is young. midfield is the hardest position to adapt to

  45. Samir

Stu he’s just what we need a solid player to scare the shit out of the opposition in the tunnel. His crunching tackles and he deals with headers very well.
He can play both left/right back as he is equally comfortable with both feet.
Also guess what.. He played in the world cup qualifier with a broken cheekbone…..

  46. Franchise

Nick with zapata’s well defined thigh the physio would be able to spot a muscle tear without a scan.

  47. Stu

Gibbs was a CM when he joined from Wimbledon(sp). We converted him to LM and then Wenger converted him to left back. Simples!

  48. Coadsi

has anyone ever seen Zapata play? before this weekend i have seen him two or three times and he was just a defender version of Ade imo………….lazy. but like i said only a few times so prolly not fair to him.
he did play better on the weekend vs argentina tho
