Adebayor options + Superstar in the making could be on way!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Good morning, welcome to your daily dose of Le Grove goodness.

On the agenda today are a number of items.

Firstly, Adebayor.

If the press are to be believed, Adebayor is sailing the Arsenal nest… where he goes, nobody knows, but one thing is for sure… he is rated by a lot of managers all around Europe. I don’t think anyone can deny that he offers something different, he is fast, powerful… prone to the odd finish. He is a younger Heskey… another player many didn’t rate, but always seemed to get games and caps.

It’ll be a shame to see him go, but his attitude and the emergence of our young Dane have put paid to his Arsenal career.

If he’s going to leave; personally, the money wouldn’t be of interest to me as a fan. It’ll just end up in financial purgatory like the rest of the income we make. I think it’s players we need and if we’re going to sell one of our best (<– I’m marketing him ok!), lets get a little something in return in the same way we did with Ashley Cole. By the way, before we get cracking with this, I saw this link from the ArseSpeak twitter page which was interesting… I digress…

Chelsea:

Flush with cash and a new non English speaking manager, Chelsea could be a prime destination for our Egotistical Togan. They’d be able to match his wages and Chelsea have a few players that could be of interest.

Options:

  • £10million + Alex
  • £5million + Mikel
  • £19million + Carvalho

Man City:

As the middle east collapses, their royals are over here splashing cash like they are MP’s on the last last day of the month… Adebayor is exactly the sort of power house City need up front and Mark Hughes is a big fan of strikers in Ade’s mould.

Options:

  • Robinho >>> Adebayor (Straight swap)
  • Onuoha + £10million
  • £35million cash (They don’t know football… lie and tell them he is the new Pele…!)

Milan:

Flush with £65million cash from the sale of Kaka, the most likely destination is Milan for Adebayor. Replacing Kaka with Adebayor is a bit like losing someones Rolex and replacing it with a turd in a brown paper bag. Hey ho, I’m not going to argue with Milan logic…

Options:

  • Adebayor >>> Pato (Straight swap)
  • £12million + Flamini
  • £18million + Gattuso

So, that is how I’d play it. Personally, I’m not interested in the cash because we rarely end up spending it… I’m interested in what our asset can get us in return. This is a good opportunity to bring in a great player for peanuts…

Oh, apparently the Daily Mirror has been reading the Le Grove comments section again, they’ve cleverly linked us with Grover favourite, Edin Dzeko for £8million. The guy looks a bit special (Link), but please… lets remember he is playing in arguably the 4th/5th strongest league in Europe and to my knowledge this is his first prolific season. Wolfsburg winning the title says a lot though… he would be a signing in the mould of Eduardo… I’ll watch with interest! At least he has a goal record… Ade never had one at his previous clubs.

Grover favourite, Edin Dzeko.

Grover favourite, Edin Dzeko.

On the whole subject of transfers, I did hear that Florentino Perez, the new President of Madrid said that massive transfers pay for themselves in marketing. I guess it is a logical assumption really. Big players attract big interest… they also have a better chance of winnning things… a by product of winning things is a larger fanbase… a larger fanbase usually means increased revenue streams. There is a chance I’ve over simplified that… but you get the jist!

Before I go I must remind you that it’s Le Chump, Le Champ of the year time. Your chance to vote on who your winners and losers of the year! Get voting, you have a week —>

Happy Friday Grovers, the first guest blog hits the web tomorrow!

nothin nick there are 2 categories of bloggers on le grove AKB and GKB aka AKJs(arsene knows jack)..couldn’t resist stereotyping..

  2. irishgunner

Never trust a paddy Nick

I was talking about Franchise ha ha ha he’s know I think he’s teacher’s pet ;)

  3. Nick

well thats bollocks ask irish i support wenger but that doesn’t stop me pointing out the obvious mistakes his made and even then i give reasons so i think you will find YOU CANT strereo type me so there nanananananana

  4. Nick

keyser yes  apology accepted ;) just wondered if that what people thought is all don’t give to fucks really like you bore shit-less at work

  5. David

Forlan would be big for us imo…..he would never have fit in the Manc Style of playing…look at how Berbaflop did

  6. Mayank

yup so do I but you have to admit the AKJs(not you) views on our future do tend to be a bit grim and so do GKBs(not you)..stereotyping was perhaps the wrong word , categorising maybe..

Heh, bollocks Bendtner’s well good, Adebayor’s crap

    ============

    LOl. What?

  8. Keyser

Nick – Sorry dude, don’t get all hysterical heh.

I’m watching the tennis, I’ve got £2.30 riding on a Federer win, it’s tense stuff.

A striker shouldnt have to rely on everyone else to make his goals. A sign of a good striker is doing something good even is the rest of the team arent doing well.

    =============

That would mean Bendy is shite…even by your own standards Stu.

    Incredible.

Arsene Knows Best Most Of The Time But On Occasion Needs A Kick Up The Arse To Point Him In The Right Direction

  11. David

    between Carragher and Arbeola?

I dont know…id let Carragher go…surely he has only 2 years left in the EPL

  12. David

Arbeola…is quality…can be the left back for years….Carragher is dodgy…and the fact that if he wasnt English…he’d have had so many penalties called against liverpool

  13. Keyser

He didn’t really beat him u, but he probably did when they got back to the dressing room.

    Carraghers’ a bit odd.

  14. Mayank

    im off for a while..
it indeed is very catchy irish can imagine it being sung right after one arsene wenger..

  15. David

    fred

He’s one of them….i forgot which…i dont care about the scousers…just think its funny how there is all of this news about them going down into financial meltdown….

  16. Mayank

Really? You’re kidding right. Anyway this is what Perez had to say about Wenger.

“From the beginning we have worked on two possibilities – Wenger and Pellegrini,” Perez said in L’Equipe.

“We have always been attracted by the Frenchman and we talked to him several times.

“He didn’t come because he feels very responsible about what has happened and what will happen at Arsenal. He didn’t want to abandon the club that he has given such a lot to.

“But as (director general Jorge) Valdano said: ‘Pellegrini is the Wenger of Spanish football’.”

  17. charybdis1966

If anyone’s still around I think my post will be on tomorrow but I’ll only be on line via my mobile so there’ll only be brief responses from me when I defend my post. :)

  18. charybdis1966

Cheers Maire – I’d like to have been around properly tomorrow but family commitments prevent that.

Mind you, if Pedro decides he might bump me back to another day !

  19. Stu

Any more news floating around? Any developments on Vermaelen.

I actually got quite excited about the prospect of this summer when reading the paper today. First time in months reading print and i read that we are after Dzeko, Chielling, Hangeland and Vermaelen. Whether its all true or not i dont give a shite but it was nice to be linked with Quaetee instead of the usual bullshite of some young french/african starlet.

And is Mark Lawrencen Irish or something because he is on today FM talking about ireland using the term “we”. God i hope not!

  20. Stu

It happens every few months that i jusy suddenly decide to stop eating shitty food. Cut way down on takeaways (usually chinese), give up chocolate and crisps etc and generally just eat healthier. Never happens as you might assume. I started yesterday again and have already eaten a bar of chocolate without even realising. But no more! IM GONNA DO IT THIS TIME……. obviously alcohol not inclided tho….that would be just insane.

    Any tips?

  21. Stu

If someone doesnt interupt me with something to talk about im just gonna continue in this cain….talkinh about ramdom bollocks that interests noone what so ever. Just try and stop me…..please :|

  22. Stu

Shite! I absolutely hate Lawro. He’s an absolute cunt imo!

Mayank, i saw it…nothing special. A similar video could be made of anyone who had a relatively poor season. And the music is what made it any good imo.

  23. Mayank

Y’all are playa haters. But don’t hate a player as long as he playa for the arse.

I should go into the music biz.

This is what sendy had to say.
The big centre-half said: “I expect news on my future but it depends on Arsenal. I want to continue at Milan because I cannot see a place for me with the Gunners. It is down to Arsenal to do something.”

  24. charybdis1966

Well Stu, it has an anit-mank mini rant in there so any of my comments would be a taster.

Anyhoo – I have to be off so be nice to my post in the morning please!

  25. Stu

We dont hate him Mayank. We just dont like him as much as he seems to think we should.

Also it seems that Senderos would like to come back but wont because he knows Wenger wont start him and that fans dont like him. Silly fans if you ask me!

  26. Stu

Irish, why isnt your name highlighted as a link to your bleacher page like it used to be. I cant be bothered to ever look for your articles. Its much easier to just click on your name.

  27. Mayank

Yup i think I’ll do a whole article on manc-bashing. Since we don’t have many spuds in India all my vitriol is generally directed towards mancs and chavs, the red ones more nowadays because they are so fucking arrogant about it.

  28. kelsey

    Irish,

you might know a bit more than me about Setanta, but i hear that they are 120 million in debt and that their PL coverage is being reduced from 46 to 23 games next season. They desperately need a buyer.

  29. Keyser

Stu – You’re just like David, but the opposite end of the Bendtner-Adebayor Love tug of War.

It’s sad to see the fans so split.

  30. Stu

Na-ah Keyser, no way. Im right and David is wrong. You just dont want to agree with me. Its David fault that the fans are split. Everyone loves Bendtner deep down. FACT!

  31. Stu

David hates Bendtner simply because he blocked Cescs chot in the CL. I like Bendtner because he is simply brilliant. LEGEND!

  32. Keyser

Setanta have only been around for a while ? Haven’t they ? Or is it just in England ?!

They aren’t that bad, bring me sports from all over the World and it means their’s way more streams for illegal viewing over the internet.

  33. Mayank

“Ribery could be dangerous for the club,” he told Munich-based Tz newspaper.
“A player who is permanently pondering a transfer to Madrid, Barcelona or wherever else always causes a disturbance.
“It then becomes a question as to how much such a player can still really help you, if his thoughts are permanently elsewhere.
“You have got to be careful with such things otherwise such a player is more of a problem than an asset.”
According to Kahn, the 26-year-old should also bear that in mind.
“By signing him, FC Bayern gave him the chance to become one of Europe’s best,” he added.
“You have got to expect from such a player that he identifies himself clearly with the club and then gives everything for them.”

Ribery and Real match made in heaven imo.

  34. irishgunner

I heard about that Kelsey – I reckon they will go bust. They are trying to get in as part of a regular Sky Sports package to survive I think.

  35. patthegooner

Did anyone hear Durham on Talk Sport tonight. He really is a prick.

I am sure he just comes out with crap to get a reaction. Ok i know that is his job but his sweeping statements are just ludicrous.

Today he reckons that the FA should bail out Liverpool given the service that they have done for football. Fucking Bollocks, if they have made a loss of about 40m just sell Gerrard and Torres.

And If Liverpool are on the verge of Administration surely all their players should be up for grabs (Alonso?). But I bet they still spend more than they bring in by some distance this summer.

  36. patthegooner

If Setanta want to move in the right direction, they should start by sacking that prick Burley that commentates for them.

  37. Stu

Fear Not Mayank for i have a;ready seen that clip. It doesnt show how great bendtner truly is tho. Poor editing. I could do a better job if i was bothered.

Keyser, i dont think David shows up unless you slag Ade and praise Nick at the same time unwillingly.

  38. Stu

Speaking of which…..what kind of a weirdo is the toothfairy? Some oddball who appears in the deal of night, sneaks into a sleeping childs room and steals their teeth. What the fuck does he/she do with them anyhow?

  39. David

What i have to say is that Bendy is shite. And if anyone is deluded to think that he will come in next season and fill in the Togonators boots does not want Arsenal to succeed.

The boy scored 9 goals in the….6 of them were against relegation teams…and 2 were against bolton…

  40. Keyser

erm I think you say Candyman in front of the Mirror 5 times and he turns up, but according to South Park the same happens when you call out Biggie.

Candyman can’t be that old, it’s some film about a man with a hook for a hand and a bodyful full of bee stings.

  41. Mayank

IF Liverpool do go into administration do any of you reckon that it’ll have an impact on the other clubs who spend indiscriminately. Maybe Liverpool’s greatest contribution to English football could be teaching the other clubs a lesson and stop the madness we see every 6 month in the transfer window.

  42. David

    Legend? Bwuhahahha!

Hey Who is hating on the tooth fairy? I funded a couple of toys off of the tooth fairy!

  43. David

    Mayank

I’d prefer that United go under…i would so love that…but Livepool seem to be in real serious trouble…I think the owners are looking to sell…they have till July to refinance the 350 dept…July? Wow…and if they cant refinance it…they need substantial collateral to back up the loan…and they just reported 40m+ in loses…wow…they might do a leeds if they dont sell.

  44. Keyser

Liverpool won’t go into administration, someone will always be there to buy them out, thats what pisses Platini off, because teams like Liverpool and United hawk themselves into soo much debt, but at the same time spend heavily to keep themselves successful on the pitch.

  45. Mayank

Yes I’d like the mancs to go down as well. The fans probably won’t even be able to comprehend what happened with their “We are man utd the greatest football club with the greatest manager and the greatest player! What do you mean we bought the trophies”.
Anyway aren’t the rich lads with oil money feeling the effects of the recession? Surely they can’t be totally immune.

  46. Keyser

Nah, why would they ? People always need to get about, it’s just a neccesity of life in the modern world.

The only thing they’re scared of is the oil running out, which it is, but by now they’ve made soo much money that it doesn’t affect them much.

They’re buying up clubs, because they generally hold their value.

You’ll probably see more and more of the lesser clubs or even Championship clubs being bought up, because they’re probably going to end up more profitbale in the long run.

  47. Mayank

True. Sad too, but that’s what i meant if something bad does happen to ‘Pool maybe the others will realise it’s a game and a business, not a toy.

  48. David

The only thing that will save Arsenal is our history…if we dont start winning things NOW we will lose out on the best players that want to come to Arsenal.

  49. David

Either that..or we start offering ridiculous money to play for Arsenal…

It is the way of the world…Because if Wenger cant win it all with kids…Nobody can.

  50. Keyser

Save Arsenal ? We’re not that bad off, we’re probably in the best position out of all these clubs.

  51. Mayank

What the rich boys should realise si that football can’t be run like any other business i.e. you put in some money and make a profit it has many more variables and too much risk one bad player can completely turn a teams fortunes e.g. Gomez.

  52. Keyser

Heh, right now ? We’ve got plenty of class players, is Adebayor class ?!

Save us from what then ? We’ve got one of the best stadiums in the World, we’ve gone through a few years of being prudent and still kept our competitive egde, if we need to we can still be bought out by a rich investor.

We’re not like Citeh, we’ve already got s starting point, loads of young players with potential and one of the best managers in the world.

  53. dennisdamenace

Hey Hey Oirish, youstill there babe? Fuck merge Guinness is good here, almost as good as in Dublin!!

  54. irishgunner

Ha ha glad you are enjoying DDM, I have to admit for the odd occasion I drink it I have to add blackcurrent

  55. Mayank

Even if we finish 10th next season i think we’ve got such high grade youth coming through that we’ll win something in a few years. The fact we’re discontent is because we haven’t won anything recently and thats bad for a club of our stature. We need to invest just to get success for the next few years after that i think we’re pretty much guaranteed it.

  56. David

Its a case of glass is half empty..or half full?

U asked if Adebayor is class…and then you say we have many potential class players…It is true we are in a better financial position than most…but we still owe alot of money….it was first 250…then 300…now their saying 430m?

And all this while our CL football for the last 10 years…our high ticket prices…and the fact that we refuse to sell isnt encouraging in the least…cuz all we hear about is this stadium dept. I thot it was supposed to make us money?

  57. Keyser

    Is Adebayor Class ?!

People can say what they want, but 10-15 years ago the Premiership was the 3rd or 4th best league in the World, United were dominant, but used to get abused by teams like Galatasaray, players like Batistuta were these awesome players from abroad that used to knock us out in the group stages.

I’ve never felt cheated in all the years I’ve supported Arsenal, I just love football no matter what.

  58. Mayank

The way i see it David is that we have a right to criticise the club, we have a right to bitch about the ticket prices but the fact is ticket prices don’t give you a right to trophies and the reason people do pay that is because the enjoyment they get out of watching arsenal if it didn’t they wouldn’t pay, they’re not obligated. My point may not hold much water since I don’t even live in England but if i did i would either go to the matches if i could afford it else i wouldn’t. But if i pay I would do so for my own selfish enjoyment, it wouldn’t be a sacrifice.

  59. David

    Mayank Good point.

Money doesnt guarrantee trophies…but it does help…word at the club is that we are skint…and there’s no money because of our stadium…which I cant believe…

What is the way forward…what do we do all this time that we are “waiting for players to come good”…

I cant possibly bare another shite season like this one when we all knew it would go to shite after Wenger refused to re-enforce…but we’ll see what happns.

  60. leon

i feel waether ade leaves will depend on what kind offers come alonng in terms of salery he is on 80k and only a few clubs can over better or will be preperd tolike chelsea, milan teams like that, the vibe and i am getting wenger is completely different to last summer he was adament that ade was staying but that no same this year so its 50/50,i am mixed minds over it because if he gets head right he is very good player, but right now he just liability

  61. David

    Is Adebayor class?

    I wont say that much…

What i will say is that he epitomizes Arsenal

Incredibly Brilliant at a stretch and Incredibly poor at another.

Dont get me wrong it is a pleasure to watch my Arsenal play….but other times we were complete shite…i mean 10 times worse than United at the Barca final.

  62. Keyser

David – Look at it the other way, word’s never been we’re skint, but you can almost guranteee that we can’t spend right now what the teams around us do.

Which is why I don’t get the people that blame Wenger, everyone else gets bought out by someone richer but we never ask for that ourselves.

I don’t think this season was shite, how would you get through any season like that ? There must be something you enjoyed ?!

  63. Mayank

I feel we’re not too far from a trophy we have nasri fab arsh RvP sagna(i’m not going to include ade or nik to avoid arguments) i think they’re world class. CM and DM are 2 key areas that need strengthening if we do we can challenge.

  64. Keyser

I’m going to watch Arsenal no matter what, whether we win or not, every bad miss makes the next goal we score that extra bit special and vice versa.

Every bad loss, makes the next win sweeter.

  65. David

    Keyser

    The signing…of Arshavin.

The 4 goals against liverpool…but it was too little too late.

Im not asking Wenger to spend like the other clubs….that is rather silly money spending…but if he’s supposed to be the man that has the eye for the next great talent…or the talent that nobody knows like Eduardo…surely he’d have brought them in when Hleb and flamini facked us off..

  66. Mayank

I actually liked this season, we managed 4th against all the pundits wishes think of what this season will mean to us when we do win a trophy. They say that you need experienced heads to guide the team and the younger ones need to learn from them, i say the experience the young guns have gained this season can’t be taught. They’ll be much better for it, and if they do decide to stay with arsenal for a long time its going to make their careers feel special.

  67. David

Mayank should we be happy with Managing for 4th?

Irish…its not really the time to play humble here..okay..dont be shy or modest!

  68. Keyser

David – It’s not like that anymore, football’s becoming dull now, it’s just methodical, buy players, win things, the more you spend th greater your success, I like the way we do it.

There’s plenty of moments this season where I’ve loved every minute of it, even the Tottenham game, because it’s been too long since I’ve experienced something that sickening, heh.

People back in Novemeber were like if we win the next 8-10 games we’ve got a chance, fuck that, where’s the fun in that, just churning out wins and waiting for the next game.

  69. irishgunner

Geoff, Pedro, Steve and Franchise know what I look like and they’ll tell you its nothing to write home about.

I let you live your fantasy – I can look like whatever you want me to look like ;)

  70. David

    fuck that Keyser?

Heh…i dont know about you mate…but i want my team to “churn out wins”…thats how you become champions…sure i love the way we play football it will continue to be pointless to the whole world if we dont win anything. Look at Barca….they blew the whole world apart with Wengerball…and won it…

We arent there yet…besides…dont you make money when you win things?

  71. Mayank

No David i want us to come 1st..but suppose we get taken over spend like city and win the PL wouldn’t that victory be hollow. Do you see what im’ getting at.

  72. irishgunner

The Invicibles was how to do it and is how to do it now – a great team, great style of play and not anyone’s puppet club.

1997/1998 was great too – great spirit in the second half of the season

  73. leon

    maybank

i truely believe that nikki b will get there he is only 21 long way to go but next season he will get evon better, ade well gifted player bad attitude but all in all few if sort out defending as a whole not just central defence we will be fine in my few have better attcking force than manu
