Cesc speaks, are you listening boss?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So it’s official, captain Francesc Fabregas has officially asked manager, mentor and father figure Arsene Wenger to sign his mate Xabi Alonso, all the Juve rumours seem to have gone and the Alonso one has returned.

Will the boss listen? I hope so, if Cesc wants it, we should do it. I would have him Cana or Barry to be honest, but at 27 years old, he has to be favourite, by asking for him he has admitted that Denilson, Song and Diaby are not YET good enough, and you know what? I agree, Cesc says the others can learn from him, it really does show that Cesc reads Le Grove!

Thomas Vermaelen is another strong rumour and to be honest I don’t really know much about him, but he is a centre back, not a midfielder that we can convert, but a real live working and some say proven centre back, I don’t think Hangeland, Lescott or Chelleini are going to happen so why not?

Right now we have Rosicky, Diaby, Song, Cesc, Denilson, Ramsey, Nasri, Eboue, Merida, Barazite and Wilshere all competing for the central midfield roles, we have Arshavin, Bendtner, Ade, Theo, Vela, Simpson, Eduardo and Robin Van Persie competing for the forward two roles and only one if we play 4-5-1.

We have an awful lot of players in the same role, so maybe we should have a little clear out. I think we need 2 world class talents for each position, but we have little in the way of proper wingers, defensive midfielders or centre backs, so I’m sure selling a few spares will help fund what we do need.

Wenger says all his midfielders always want to play in the middle, well that’s because all the midfielders are central midfielders! Who can blame them?

Chav big mouth John Terry is asking rich Roman to buy Villa and Ribery, we won’t, so expect that to be on the cards, even more reason to get Xabi in quick, don’t hold out for a bargain, get him in now and get him used to the team, it has the added bonus of keeping Cesc and I’m sure that Cesc will improve as a result, he’ll have his back covered and have someone that can do what he can, he’s a tough tackler and Cesc can vouch for that.

I was watching the Arsenal season on Arsenal TV this weekend and realised that Ade can really play, but for me he’s given up on Arsenal and the fans have given up on him, so maybe he should disappear into the sunset, and maybe we could use that money to bring in David Villa from under the snouts of the dirty chavs.

The problem is, if we sold Ade for some decent money we would probably spend it on another training facility like we did with the Anelka cash, don’t know why though, all that the training complex has done for us is to somehow double our injuries!

I was calling on here last summer for the boss to buy Anelka, Anelka was too, what an impact he would have had eh??? Anyway we didn’t, so we need to look forward, we saw what an impact signing Arshavin had on the team and the fans, so we shouldn’t under estimate the valus of spending money on quality players has, I would also take a look at Robert Green, I like Almunia, but he still makes me nervous, anyway we won’t buy Green so I’ll leave that there as well.

I look forward to a summer of signing players that play in there natural positions, like get a centre back that is a centre back and a defensive midfielder that is …wait for it… a defensive midfielder! That way we may have the makings of a championship winning side.

I would like the third player to be a proper winger, like a Silva or a Young, but Young would cost too much, Silva on the other hand is Spanish, so that would be good news for Cesc and maybe Xabi.

Whatever we do, I hope we do it soon, I don’t think I could go through another summer and winter of discontent.

Have a great day grovers, the sun is shining and the window has finally opened!

wow irish no need to mention the dreaded man flu  it was nothing as serious thankfully :) and I’ve stopped smoking now for three weeks there or there abouts.Just cold turkey no patches nothing from 20-30 a day to nish was fecking hard for me and anyone i came into contact with but the worst is behind me now…i hope

  2. Keyser

Shit 30 degrees, I dunno, it didnt feel like 30 here in London and pollution here probably adds a few degrees.

why dont our shite players ever get injured? – Because they only play when our better players are injured.

why did we have to make a profit last transfer window? – We didn’t have to, but considering we’re 300 million pounds in debt, it was something that could be appreciated.

what is the meaning of belief, quality? Well, Websters..

  3. irishgunner

Stay strong Nick and overcome the urges :)

I’ve smoked half a cigarette in my whole 23 years – they’re filthy

  4. insidealbania

Franchise, the whole belief, quality, desire, mental strength etc etc bullshit that we get in post math interviews pisses me off.

  5. redbearer

Back to the flying winger scenario… Twente’s Elijero Elia has recently been linked.. the quoted price is just shy of 10 million euros… apparently ourselves & Munich have been keeping tabs on this player!

Although I would be keener if he was a right sided winger.. Surely AW is scouting for someone quality to line up down the right flank… I really don’t think I can bear to watch another a season of the Walcott & Eboue show!

  6. Stu

That doesnt bode well for us then Pedro because of Grovers we are partly responsible and are causing discomfort worldwide. Oh well…as long as we have a place to blog freely then all is good.

  7. A

Song was a highly rated youngster so qualified for an exceptional talent work permit,

Yaya was much older so didn’t

Hleb said that’s what he’d do

  8. Franchise

Alex Song is Rigobert’s cousin not nephew as we are meant to believe he is at least 30 and rigobert 46

  9. Stu

Because 2 wrongs make a right Franchise so by default you are always wrong, therefore always being right. Simples!

  10. Franchise

Nick Ade is going to fetch us some top dollar hopefully. compared to waht we used to have at the club in henry ade and bendtner should be at wigan

  11. Nick

stu dude thats slander franchise is the tinternet stu pest not me…..take it back ;)

franchise nikkib is gonna be good nd theres no henrys out there anywhere at the mo even the one at barca is a shade of the one we had :)

  12. A

I still can’t believe that the 98 squad had players like Chris Wreh and Luis Boa Morte in it, and people slag off Bendtner now! Even the invincibles had cygan and wiltord in it, rather have Bendy over wiltord any day! though he did score some important goals

  13. Franchise

we need a headband wearing striker. u cant be successful nowadays without one.

    manu have berba
    chelsea have drogba
    liverpool have torres
    inter have zlatan

we could snap up forlan if we are wise :D

  14. Franchise

A u r so smart comparing nikkib to boa morte, cygan, wreh etc. that is what ive been saying all along

  15. A

With the invincibles the first eleven played 366 games!!

Compare that to now when utd, liverpool, chelsea, barca all played around 330, and our first eleven accumulated 266 games between them!

  16. Nick

franchise you got heat stroke, forlan  i wouldn’t want him for free let alone the money they would want leave him in spain, englands no good for him i would take nikki all day

  17. Stu

Actually Franchise, Torres doesnt have the hairband any more. He get a haircut way last year. Jeezz Keep up like!

  18. A

Huh franchise?? Was just saying the invincibles had wiltord as their 3rd choice striker, and bendy is our 4th choice striker, and better imo, and will become much MUCH better.

AND the time we won the double in 98 players like boa morte and wreh were in it, i guess it shows the extent to which the premiership has moved on, wreh certainly could never play in the prem nowadays!

  19. Stu

The only poster on my wall is of Lucy Pinder ;) and an arsenal calender with Ramsey on it….im not as fond of that one tho.

  20. A

Nowt wrong with wearing a hairband playing footy! When it was at it’s longest I had to fathom myself a ponytail when playing!

  21. Stu

The dodgiest hair styles are the cornrows. I just dont see the point. Its better to et it all out like Felaini.

  22. goonermichael

did anyone ever see david beckam putting seamans hair in a scrunchy on that comedy show (think it’s called double take or something)

  23. Stu

Double take? Like when briefly glance at something…or someone ;) …and dont believe what you see so look again. ie a double take.
    Is me close?

  24. goonermichael

“We have lost big players, but the boss knows what he is doing. The days of signing a new player aren’t finished. We need someone in the middle to make competition and make a difference, plus give us a new dimension. I think that is all we need. The rest is perfect. Xabi would be great. He’s experienced and can score goals. I’m sure the boss is aware of that fact.”

That is definitely from last year

  25. incesc

    whose lucy pinder?

thats dissapointing you obviously missed the will she/wont she show her nipples thing a few years back.

So Chelsea make the first big move of the window, wat a massive surprise. I hope Drogba leaves ,then we can get back to beating them again

  26. SharkeySure

Christoper Wreh was fantastic for us in the 98 run in, in both PL and FAC !!!

HOrrible nose dive carerr wise after that though.

He kept a fully fit (but mouthy??!!) Ian Wright on the bench in the Final.

  27. Stu

That is the most one sided…or should i say half sided fight i have ever seen. There was only ever going to be one half of a winner. Pathetic really. ….but funny all the same.

  28. redbearer

Still on the problematic right hand side wing role… Imo the Norwegian International Per Ciljan Skjelbred of Rosenberg could well be worth signing up.. the advantages here are that he has been courted by some of the finest Italian clubs in the past and I understand that he is still only aged about 22 years old… his price at a guestimate would be under 10 mil.. so let’s face it he can’t be any worse than having to watch Eboue struggle in that role!

  29. Stu

Redbearer, i thougt he was a centre midfielder. I know he is versatile but npt that versatile. It would be like playing Ramsey or Lansbury there in a few years. Can do a job but not a wideman.

  30. irishgunner

Balague now thinks Alonso will be at Real within a month, so his “sources” tell him…. *yawn*

  31. Stu

His scources also told him that Wenger and Ronaldo would be there too. He would want to get better sources!

  32. redbearer

Btw England vs Scotland U19s is on Setanta tonight, KO is @ 19.00 hrs and so could be worth a look…

Now off to coach a ladies team.. if only they were all hunnies like the likes of Lucy Pinder & Co :P

    Laters grovers!

  33. irishgunner

    you – saddo

Watching women’s football just cos they have boobs and wear shorts – your meant to watch for the skill

  34. Stu

Being irish, i assumed you had seen the add for RTE with John Giles, Mick McCarthy and Charlton talking about managerial jobs and at the end when they are in italy! Im very disappointed in you.

  35. Stu

And i have watched Womens football. Apart from arsenal and germany (obviously) they are all pretty shite.

  36. irishgunner

Have to agree with you there Stu – the French and Brazilians are good too, Norway used to be good but thats about it – oh the USA.

Apparently the North Koreans are good two :?

  37. Coadsi

    excerpt from an article

Figures for the 2008/9 season reveal the Champions League is now worth around double the amount to the top four clubs than it was three years ago.

Premier League champions Manchester United earned a total of £90million in prize money and TV cash from all competitions last year – nearly £60million more than bottom club West Brom – with £33.7million coming from their march to the Champions League final.

Fourth-placed Arsenal earned £73.4million compared to fifth-placed Everton’s £49.5million with the Gunners bringing in £23.4million from European football. The figures do not include ticket money and merchandise income where the big four also dominate

  38. Ja_Gunner

Alonso will never happen now..not after the good season Liverpool had….only silly money would get Rafa to sell him now.

Lets go after Barry..he is experienced and should be able to adjust his game somewhat to play the holding role fulltime…He would desperately want to prove himself in a big club…and he would have the drive to win win things soon(he’s 28/29)..like Arshavin…

so get Barry in and Song/Denilson are good backups.

  39. irishgunner

I think Alonso will leave Liverpool – willing to sell a player once, willing to do it again

  40. Stu

I’d rather Poulsen than Barry any time. Barry is good but not great. We need great.

And as A will no doubt tell you-Denilsong is better than Barry.

  41. Pedro

Coadsi… people will still claim that spending £30million in a summer is beyond the realms of reality… we have a new stadium don’t you know?

  42. Stu

I dont see how the stadium would stop us spending. I dont know much but surely the payments are covered by the gate receipts.. but lets not get into that because its quite boring and been done to absolute death, dug up time and time again and killed again.

  43. irishgunner

In the last two transfer windows the bones of £40mil have to have been spent so he spends it but just not in the right places at times

  44. Stu

He spends it on youth and crap. Bischoff-both, silvestre-crap, Nasri-young and wasnt ready to take a leading role during play, Ramsey-young and doesnt get many games, theres probably more but thats all i can think of.

  45. choy

4th place is up for grabs next season.. if we don’t spend… we’re facked… it is only because villa screwed up that we we are 4th!!

  46. Coadsi

so do you guys think Leonardo will do well at AC Milan?
i figure he will try to emulate pep, but i expect him to fail.

  47. irishgunner

Villa were always going to have a blip, I said it all season, also said Everton would finish 5th but sure who listens to me……

  48. Stu

I hope Leo does well and wins a couple of italian trophies next season with the big togan at the frint of his attack.

  49. nishanth

If wenger wants barry he better move for him quickly. It looks like alonso will go madrid and i am sure liverooll will move for barry immediately. We will be left with nothing.Unless wenger decides to move for cana or veloso

  50. Coadsi

i dont mine Ade going, but i hope le boss dont make the mistakes of the past of selling players b4 buying first. he did it with pv04 when he expected to sign “the beast” at the time from sevilla but he went to RMD.
he does not even have to replace him but just get a body in b4 selling.

  51. Coadsi

is it that Cana that some drool over here is not good or Deschamps (the new Marseille coach) just does not have a clue?
    another excerpt……..

Olympique de Marseille may have finished the season only three points away from Ligue 1 success but that has not been sufficient to satisfy Didier Deschamps, who is expected to take up the reigns of head coach at the Stade Velodrome this week and will seek to add experience to the side…….

……..Finally, Mathieu Valbuena and Lorik Cana will have to prove their worth to Deschamps, who is considered a pragmatic coach but will look to impose at least some of his own ideas on the team during the pre-season campaign.

  52. gunner

who here thinks they could go the whole summer without reading any speculations over players futures and transfers and then check on september 2nd on what transfers happened ??? ps. guys check out louise glover i think shes hotter than lucy pinder =)

  53. Stu

Quagliarella is a bit of a dick. He is one of italys hottest players atm and he is playing for average teams.

Sampdoria, Udinese, now napoli. He should have joined a big club instead.

  54. Stu

Guner, Glover is great but not the best by a long way imo.Without naming names there are better beauties.

  55. gunner

how hot is it today i was playin football and i almost passed out ok stu check out denise milani !

  56. Stu

Yeah, its not possible because the season starts in mid august so unless you sut yourself off from all media and anyone who watches sport then its impossible.

  57. gunner

i hope arsenal resign flamini or get cana i am not buyin all the hype about hangeland hes good but not the world beater arsenal fans are makin him out to be and also sakho hes only a teen if he did not make a instant impact every1 would say why did wenger buy another kid!
