I’m not going to dissect what was a pretty horrible result.

Theo missed a bag full of chances today… but there is the key. He is getting in position to miss them, he is learning his role. Earlier in the year he was barely registering a shot. It wont take long for him to develop composure… training with a genius will speed up that process. I look forward to 15 goals from him next year.
Arsenal were woeful in today… the keeper, the midfield and the defence were all terrible. We need major surgery there in the summer, and I was glad to hear the coach indicate he would sign 2 experienced players. Do I think two players will be enough? No… but it’s a start right?
The fans won’t be conned this summer. We don’t want to hear that we’ve got enough quality in the side to compete next year, because most of us aren’t stupid enough to go along with that this year.I guess what is damning for Wenger and his loyal band of disciples is that even the players don’t believe in his ideology… Almunia, Toure, Adebayor, Cesc and Robin have all mentioned the need to recruit this summer. Thousands of seasons ticket holders, hundreds of Grovers, majority of bloggers, every quality newspaper, every ex-Arsenal player, every pundit, any rival manager who is asked… all say the same.
We’re not good enough to win the league, we need to recruit. Wenger says we have no money, so when he said we need to build a new stadium to compete with ManU and Chelsea, he forgot to tell us it would take another 15 years, wow some omission. Perhaps we should have stayed at Highbury, at least we had money then.
Wenger also said judge him in May… we’re now in May. So what do we think? Well, the proof is in the pudding, and the facts are, our pudding tastes distinctly average compared to what the top three are offering… we need some better ingredients… we need to get some fresh produce from quality establishments.
Life is not a dress rehearsal… if the kids aren’t cutting it, let’s recruit some men who can. Or get real world class kids in because the one’s we have are most certainly not. How many of our team would get into ManU? Cesc maybe? Would Song, Diaby or Denilson? Would Fish head? We know the answer to that don’t we!
Today’s performance was awful, the team selection was awful and the result was down right humiliating, but hey, there will be no doubt about what needs to be done when Wenger sits down with the board this summer.
The problem is the manager will do what he wants, no one will stop him, he is Arsenal, if he made changes he has to admit he failed and he won’t do that.
We have two games left, we will lose one and win one, how bad is that, that we know we go into a game with no chance, how can anyone say anything positive about yesterday? 4 years and counting, way to go Arsene.

Nope have not seen Dzeko….but I am basing thePgreb thing off his 10 min you tube video….I know thats dangerous…but from the video I see he has good qualities as I have stated above.
1. He seems to have pace
2. He finishes equally well with both feet
3. He can take free kicks…his are all about power
4. He is 6′ 3″ but he is not clumsy like Ade
5. He is 25 years old..basically the finished product
Remember Ade has no left foot….he also doesnt seem to be able to open his body on teh left side and score with his right foot. From the video I have seen pogreb do all that and more.

We have problems emerging possibly from the formation AW uses. Playing a slow Fabergas in the hole and Diaby on the left. Why play RVP upfront? Honest, the guy has lost it. Listening to his interview, he said he did that because he felt his team will pass and move.
Well, we had some good pass and movement for 20mins, before their first major attack, a set piece. Who was the tall man to defend set pieces against Chelsea’s big men? OK, we knew the system was not working (we were 2-0 down), why not revert to 442, after the two goals? Most importantly, why does his team not track by? How easy can a bunch of dudes make money?
AW has a lot to learn from Guus and Alex. A new manager or defensive coach might do us some good. When we won headers in the oppo 18yds, there was no intelligwence, to pick out a better positioned team mate with the header. This is fairly standard procedure for Bolton, Everton, Villa, Liverpool etc? Too many questions and no answers!!!

not sure about that bbk – coquelin is class, murphy has something about him, miquel looked absolute quality too, and bartley and ayling have a chance, as does frimpong just about. sunu could have a chance as well, JET is quality though

alonso couldn’t do that job by himself pat, but otherwise i like that starting line up, provided chiellini/zapata are up to it.
i’m absolutely convinced that wenger is copying the barca system, with xavi=cesc, iniesta=nasri, and currently song=yaya. they’re all pretty similar, but just a level below currently. likewise messi=arshavin, henry=theo, and vp=etoo, though with vp rather than etoo that’s the one big difference in the system, because he’s someone who isn’t going to run in behind as much as etoo does, but he’ll play in the wide men more than etoo does, as he did with theo on sunday. eduardo could end up in that role though, or maybe vela?!
i agree about rosicky, he’ll return and be a wonder player next season, and will be first choice ahead of nasri. The thought of him interlinking with cesc, arshavin, and vp is mouthwatering!
now just to sort ourselves out defensively….!!
bbk i really dunno about JET at centre mid – he’s too tactically inept to even play there for the youths, so i’m not sure if he’ll ever develop that area of his game adequately to play there for the first team….
though it will be interesting where he features regularly for the reserves next year, my guess is as an attacking mid/second striker, or out wide
El Tel, i like your lists. The ins and outs. But Green is one of those keepers who excells at a lesser team. Hence why no matter how many saves he makes he will still concede. Im not sure about Richards either.

A, thats why my alternative was a hard-working CDM. I have doubts about Alonso doing that job too. At Liverpool, he has Masch to help out.

Rosicky can assist, score great goals, and is probably our most intelligent player(like Iniesta for Barca).
I’m hoping this summer AW keeps his word and realizes that we are not that far from being great. 2-3 great signings is all it takes, imo. A CB, CDM, and possibly another striker to replace Ade. These have to be class players though.
I’m a bit worried about AW telling us Rosicky will be one of our world class signings…What if he gets injured again?
Until just recently i had forgotten about the Ajax keeper Stekelenbyrg. He is supposed to be the dutch no.1 but im not sure. And it seems e has been frozen out at Ajax because he is playing for their reserves and Vermeer, who is fucking useless, is starting all Ajax’s games.
I think he would be worth a shot because of his age, about 26, and he plays for his country.
I don’t see why an Arsenal fan would want Gallas out. He’s been one of our only world class players this season. Hell, if he had a partner like Vidic I’m sure he’d be better than Rio.

Some of us want Gallas out because of his attitude and performances at the start of the season. I would keep him purely based on his ability. But other factor have to be taken into account.
yeah i agree completely Pat – tbh i think song COULD become that player, and he’s come on leaps and bounds this season, but with kids in so many other positions all across the pitch, i’d rather see someone like yaya come in who’s there already rather than on his way to that level. Someone top top class, and can really do the midfield defensive work properly. Song is still tactically naive at times, and having someone holding to fort centrally who really knows what they’re doing rather than learning their trade could help the entire team.
i really really don’t think there’s any chance of a forward, and wenger even said he’s not gonna sign a striker.
we started the season with vp and ade as the starters really, and bendtner as a reserve and occasional starter, with vela to come through, and eduardo to return
next season, even if ade goes, we’ll be starting the season with vp, but then a fully fit eduardo, bendtner who needs to start more games than last season, vela who i reckon will be in the position to play as much as bendtner did this season, not to mention arshavin! Theo too will eventually play through the middle.
so even if ade goes we’re still overloaded with forwards, and with bendtner and vela needing to play more to develop, along with eduardo returning, there’s no way wenger would bring someone in over their heads. there’s also no way that wenger would offload bendtner or vela, as he rates them very very highly.
the only way i could see a forward coming in is if ade goes, AND vp doesn’t sign a contract, so we have to sell him, otherwise with just ade off or even staying noone will come in there.
i agree about a CB and a DM, top top quality, and i think that’s it, or a second CB should gallas go.

pat i’m not sure he’d be better than rio, but he is a top top class centre back – the only reason he’d go if he does this summer is because of personal problems and relationships, nothing to do with his footballing ability.

yeah but pat it’s unnatural for him to be quiet – i think he’s just putting up and shutting up until he can get his wish to vamos off to pastures new in the summer. I wouldn’t mind a swap with sakho, on top of a top top quality signing alongside that. sakho as back up with time to learn his trade and play the odd game in the mean time in the league cup etc
