Fireman Sam, oh how the other half live. And how I had it so, so, wrong.

So no football apart from the demise of Alan Shearer last night, so I was forced into watching the Boro game for the third time! However just before that I watched a programme with Tom Watt visiting old Arsenal players, guess who this one was? Captain of the 1988 Youth cup winning team and winner of a championship medal in 91, it got me too, it was none other than David Hillier.

When people refer to the days before Wenger and how they have seen us play boring football, people often bring up the likes of Eddie Mac, you all know I know Eddie and his lovely wife and will hear nothing bad said against him, he was signed from Palace by George Graham as a sweeper, a position he rarely occupied for many reasons, but he often gets unfair stick and I always try and redress the balance, I liked Eddie and had he played in a different era he would have got better publicity than he did.

I always refer to the bad days of Selley, Morrow and David Hillier, last night Tom Watt went to visit him in Bristol, where he now lives. When he left us he went too Portsmouth where he finished his career, that took him to live in Bristol, when his career finished he retrained as a fireman and he took the camera team to his fire station where he became a normal person.

In this day of pampered spoiled brat footballer where a 4 year contract makes you safe for life it was sad to see the players from the past didn’t get it so easy, if you weren’t a drunk or drug addict you never got into football punditry or management, this guy did what the rest of us have to do and got himself a job.

When they got injured, it was a Cortizone injection and a toe up the arse, not three months off in a spa somewhere sunny for 3 months.

The footballers of today should be made to watch this, to show them how lucky they are and to work their nuts off, because they aren’t so special and the real world is tough, David you have now joined Eddie on my list as thoroughly nice blokes and I wish you well with your life, top man.

Kolo is bigging us up for the Manc game and Wenger is saying on our day we can beat anyone, can we beat the Mancs? You bet we can, with that attitude we can go all the way, if we go at them from the off, we can carry the day and get into the final against Barca and have our revenge, remember what I said about revenge being a dish best tasted cold? We’ll find out once we dispose of the lucky Mancs, they won’t have Webb or Riley reffing this game, this time we meet them on a level playing field, we’ll also have a lot of fans going so the noise will be more balanced.

We now know this is our only chance of silverware and it’s up to us if we believe in ourselves, 90 minutes to go in at half time with our tails up and bring them back to the Grove and finish them off.

I would go 4-4-2 but we all know we’ll go 4-5-1, I hope he brings Ade on from the bench, because that’s what he needs, a big French toe up his crack. Maybe surprise them and play Theo up front with Eduardo, but I would stick with Bendtner because I thought against Boro he looked like he has got his touch back and tomorrow could be the day he finally gets his hatrick.

I would also keep Eboue at right back and play Gibbs on the left with Djourou and Kolo in the centre, why? because I think he deserves it and Sagna has looked a little off the mark, I would play Theo, Song, Cesc and Nasri across the middle and only play Diaby if we are going 4-5-1 and then play him in the hole, otherwise I would play Bendnter and Eduardo up top.

No more dress rehearsals boss, it’s time to believe in this team and go for a win. So when you are lacing up your boots boys, think of David Hillier and what he would give to be in the dressing room with you, think hard because he would have been one of the breed that may have cleaned those boots you wear in his day, I expect Arsenal have a dedicated boot cleaner now, so think of David and St Sam, the patron Saint of fireman and think of what he’ll be doing tomorrow.

Show us and him how much you all love the Arsenal, because we all do.

Oh a final word for Didier Zokora who turned us down because he wanted to win things with Tottenham, ha, ha, ha, enjoy your Worthless cup medal, sucker!

Have a great day Grovers, tonight we’ll have a better idea of who we’ll meet in Rome in May!

P.S. Pedro has had a play around with the features in the side bar. Geoff, because Wenger has white boy syndrome… …he likes to dance but can’t.

Eboue, Song and Ade have mad skills on the dancefloor, errr the pitch and it really excites Wenger to the point where he has to have them in every teamsheet possible. Bendtner really can’t dance and neither can eduardo since the leg break. Van Persie prefers Mettalica and therefore does not have the requisite skills. Carlos Vela is a great hope with the Mexican stlye but Arshavin although 4′6″ does a great Kalinka.

  35. Mayank says:

no im just saying that some player should have had a look in..agree with you that the award doesn’t really matter..why are the votes cast in feb anyway..heard chelsea is playing a half fit bosingwa in the half wits place at lb..messi is going to destryo them..henry to get 2 goals at the bridge..

  37. lesterthemolester says:

the chavs are gonna thrash barca. tonight we pove that la liga dont deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as epl. barca cannot counter the chavs pyhisicality so all you who are hoping to meet barca in the final better change yo expectations to the chavs

  41. Mayank says:

yeah barca might not be able to match them physically but at the camp the atmosphere can effect the ref to make it a less physical game..

  42. sven says:

Did anyone watch the Newcastle game last night?
To have a build up like that and still not win is a damning verdict on the state of their team, but what an atmosphere!

Nasri to destroy United again tomorrow!

    morning all..

I do think the chavs will nick it.

    But you never know

  44. lesterthemolester says:

mayank you gat a point there but they have beaten them there b4 and i think they can do it again

  45. Mark C says:

    Big Dave – good point.

Is wenger keeping him fresh for tomorrow, or is he injured?

Lets hope he is ready to start tomorrow night, and plays up front in a 4 5 1 – ready for swift counter attacks, and clever passes from Nasri and fabregas.

  46. Big Raddy says:

    Morning Choy

  47. Mayank says:

they’ve beaten a different barca..this barca does more defending upfront..harder to get at..and geoff how is the dish cold its just been a few seasons..

  48. choy says:

    morning BR.. how you doing?

  49. Mayank says:

oh and about edu i stated the reason wenger hasn’t played him in an earlier post..its simply because he gets a couple coming back from injury and will play against man u..

  50. Geoff says:

That’s what it means Mayank, it’s best to wait… 2 years is plenty, any longer we’d have forgotten who beat us.

  51. Big Raddy says:

We all know AW will play Ade in a 4-5-1.

It will be a huge game for Theo, up against Raphael (who looks a fantastic prospect). IMO this will be a key area of the tie. That and Gibbs/Ronaldo.

  52. Geoff says:

Or Rooney steaming through the middle!

  53. Mayank says:

oh i thought these kind of dishes take at least 4-5 seasons to cool…i still remember every last detail of it and im sure you do too..

  54. Big Raddy says:

Good thanks Choy – and you?

Mayank, I will bet Ethan’s house that Eduardo will not play

  55. Mayank says:

wouldn’t mind beating them this season though..

  56. Franchise says:

Hi Raddy it would be Theo on Evra

  57. Mayank says:

big raddy i would have to decline the bet..i hope he does play though..i hope rosicky isn’t contagious..

  65. Mayank says:

ian wright has said he would like to see arsenal win cl that’s nice for a change..

  66. Geoff says:

So do I Franchise but I don’t mind, I would sooner Eduardo and Bendtner there but Diaby is a big lump, and Eboue for Sagna wouldn’t bother me either.

  67. Mayank says:

also he implied webb is a cunt..he’s beginning to talk like a gooner again

  68. Jay20h says:

Fuckng hope Barca go through over chelsea. I couldnt stand the thought of losing to them in the final AND the semi’s of the FA cup.

  69. Franchise says:

Jay i wouldnt mind either. we’ve got scores to settle with both teams. bring em on

  70. Robert Green says:

I would rather play barcelona in the final than chelsea

  71. Jay20h says:

True Francise, lets just get their and then worry about the other two i suppose!!!

  72. choy says:

doing well BR.. a bit nervous i might add..

this trophy is all we can hope for this season

  73. Robert Green says:

I cant see wenger playing eduardo tomorrow!! If he was going to play him he would have given hima run around when we played middlesborough

  74. Confidentgoner says:

Eboue will be better for the match than Sagna. Eboue is a big match man and will always penetrate and get telling free kicks. He will contain Evra and would work better with Theo. Sagna can lay at THOF

  75. Jay20h says:

I just think it is destiny after 2006 that we will beat themin the final. And this time they can have 10 ment the whol fucking game. Hleb sending off please lol. He wont get near the starting line up though.

  76. insidealbania says:

Morning Grovers and Mr Goeff, this revenge dish has been waiting and I think this time we will serve it to them. I am already excited about the game tomorrow and cant wait to do the mancs over in their own ground, but realistically would a score draw be good result for us??

  77. mjc says:

I can see Wenger playing Song/Cesc/Nasri in the centre and Diaby on the right wing where we can help Gibbs. Also means that ManU won’t be able to try and double up on Cesc in the midfield, cos then he’ll drop deep and Nasri push forward.

If we can get to the final and play Chelski then we have won it, thanks to the Kharma Police:

“The Champions League Final is a game of 11 men against 11 played over 90 minutes at the end of which Ashley Cole loses.”

  78. Franchise says:

it would be nice doing two english teams enroute to the cup

  79. Geoff says:

It would inside but provided we don’t play Eboue, Denilson and Song at the same time we’ll have enough for either.

I cannot understand why he won’t play Eduardo, I can’t wait to see Eduardo and Arshavin play together.

  80. Robert Green says:

I am worried about our defence tomorrow night!!

  81. Franchise says:

it would also be nice doing two of the best teams in the world manu and barca. imagine wenger’s smugness level 8O come on arsenal :D

  82. mjc says:

Sorry Diaby on the left wing …. duh!

  83. Robert Green says:

Geoff it must be because he isnt 100% match fit because in my eyes he is our best striker!!

  84. insidealbania says:

Yes I think I agree with you about playing those three together. When those three play they make up 30% of our outfield players, which is a lot of shit to put in a team that aims high.

I think the Eduardo-Arshavin partnership will blossom next season, they will have this telepathy that will just rip defenses apart.

  85. Robert Green says:

I have a feeling wenger will play this team tomorrow night

Who reckons the new Ipswich manager will be at Old Cowshed tomorrow? If so we should hope he lets his dogs loose by accident and their Korean midfielder thinks it’s a “Eat all you can catch” buffet dinner.

  89. Robert Green says:

Dont know to be honest!! Geoff but i cant think of any other reason!! i dont know why he isnt even using him as a sub

Scouting report: Luke Ayling, ArsenalThe Arsenal youngster has a good footballing brain and demonstrated this with excellent passing and positioning
Comments (6) Digg it I picked Luke Ayling as the subject of my report because I thought it was important to bring to people’s attention that Arsenal’s youth side have a nice balance of foreign talent and homegrown British lads who are being brought through the system. Ayling is one of the latter players and has already spent seven years with the Gunners. His long education with Arsenal came as no surprise to me after watching his polished performance last Wednesday night in the second leg of the FA Youth Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

Right from the first minute when the young centre-half anticipated a long ball being played down the channel and neatly sidestepped his opponent to clear, you could see that this was a lad who was completely tuned into what was required.

Being a good reader of the game helped as did his constant communication with his fellow defenders, never allowing them to lose concentration and switch off. A perfect example of this was after Arsenal had scored when he ran the length of the pitch to congratulate the scorer. That is always a sign of good team spirit but I was more impressed by what happened next. He showed his awareness of the dangers of his side losing their focus by making sure they concentrated on not conceding straight after going ahead when a team is likely to be vulnerable.

His excellent communication skills also helped him when City had opportunities to hit the ball into the penalty area. When this happened he always made sure there was a team-mate in front of the man he was marking to stop the City player receiving the ball to feet in the box.

I liked the way he followed the path of the ball as well, meaning when an opponent had time and space to play a pass forward he dropped off as it was made. But when Arsenal players in front of him put pressure on the ball, causing the City player to pass it backwards, that was his trigger to step forward. He squeezed the play in front of him and never allowed a City forward any more room than he thought necessary.

He is more than capable in the air and was so good with both feet that it was difficult to tell which one he preferred. One area needs a little work. Once or twice, but not every time, he lost his man at free-kicks, not so much from the initial ball played into the box but when it was cleared. As City won second-phase possession he let the player he was marking run off instead of staying with him until he had seen the danger out and Arsenal had won the ball back.

His positioning for balls coming into the box was excellent and he was the player best-placed to clear on numerous occasions, which he did with ease. He also showed his maturity by constantly working his centre-forward, stepping up to catch his opponent offside – something the back four had obviously worked on.

The Gunners’ young lads ran out comfortable winners in this game but it was a match in which City always looked dangerous going forward, so for Ayling it was a good test – one which he passed with flying colours.

  103. Feeling nervous already.Thats what the Gunners have made us become this season. The FA cup was a shambles. we yet again got punished for not finishing when the heat is on. our defence does not instill confidence and we are weary that anybody can score against us at any time.As a gooner thats how i feel lots of the time. Ade was having a crap game until he scored that wonder goal in Spain. watched plenty of our games and Ade just does not take any shots from outside the 18 area or any that i can remember. think the last scored was against spurs. as good as Ade is i am not convinced tho. think the boy Villa from spain will do well in our team. Can anyone tell me that if Eduardo is not injured why the hell is he not playing. Diaby what can i say. Flatter but only to deceive. i really rate him but when will he grow up football wise. i really dont like UTD. There luck against us ran out last time we played. may the good times continue.

    Nasri- Song.

    Walcott- Cesc/Eduardo- Eboue.

    Ade. 4-2-3-1.
    1-0, Arsenal.

  133. Clacko the gooner says:

Geoff, i am loving that mate :-)

  134. Rohan says:

    Ic eboue???
put diaby or vela in there

  135. Rohan says:

i would like to see nasri and fabregas take turns in partnering song in the center of midfield. That is the future..

  136. Clacko the gooner says:

I think that we should curl Arshavins hair and put him in the team under the name Wilshere ;-)

  137. lc says:

    Rohan,
Diaby and Vela are useless on the wing. Both can’t defend and don’t have the vision and passing ability Eboue has. The only player who can emulate Arshavin at left-wing at the moment is Eboue. Diaby is too slow to be effective on the wing; Vela may be quicker, but lacks vision and passing ability. Vela is only good when receiving a pass rather than him making it.

  138. Geoff says:

Ic, Eboue plays on the right wing, not the left, the last time he played on the left wing was Wigan at home and that’s when he got booed off! Remember???

  139. charybdis1966 says:

Geoff, I would guess lc is referring to Arsh’s position when he says “on left wing” rather than where he proposes Ebway playing.
Playing Ebway on the left wing was not one of Wenger’s masterstrokes – subbing the sub, oh the hilarity.

  140. Mandanda says:

    Its a bit quiet today…
People seem to be ingoring the threat of Dani Alves, I think he might be the one to punish the chavs tonight. Could Eboue be our Alves on wednesday???

  141. irishgunner says:

    Afternoon all.

    Update on the Walcott/Lennon/Young debate

    Young: 3.4%

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/163113-theo-walcott-aaron-lennon-ashley-young-who-will-be-englands-future

  142. Mandanda says:

The site of Eboue bursting forward is one to behold…:)

  143. Mandanda says:

…that of the dashing Theo even more mesmerising

  144. Mandanda says:

    hmmnn

  145. Stu says:

Eboue is a good attacking right back but as we have all seen is awful at defending, hence why Sagna was bought.
Whenever he does play in midfield he just roams and leves the right back exposed. He drifts into the middle, out left and even into the forwards role. Basically he does what Eboue fucking wants! No stopping that fucker!

  146. irishgunner says:

    Hi Mandanda

  147. Mandanda says:

    haha Eboue the rabid one!

  148. Stu says:

For Midfield i would like to see Song nehind Nasri and Cesc in the CM role. Neither of the 2 specifically given the “hole” role but its a case of 1 going forward and 1 staying back. And they switch responsibilities.

But then who plays on the left? Hmmmmmmmm…..its a right pickle aint it! :???:

  149. Mandanda says:

hello irish, read your report. think Pedro/Geoff should watch their back :) i wonder if BBK would be satisfied by the poll result

  150. lc says:

    Geoff,
Yes, but I also know that he scored his first goal when he was playing there. At the moment, we have no effective left-winger qualified for CL. Eboue is our most adaptive player I believe can be effective at left-wing. People who don’t like Eboue will always want to say what they want about him; I don’t think the boeing had anything to do with playing him at left-wing.
All I know about the player is that he has all it takes to be an effective winger: Good technic to beat anyone on one on one; good passer; very quick; can defend, supporting Gibbs to stop Ronaldo; can cross and he has vision as well.

  151. Mandanda says:

it is a right pickle and the Frenchman earns £4m/year to sort it out. hopefully, he gets it right tommoz

  152. km says:

afternoon grovers!really nervous abt wednesdays game.the press are saying that mancs are the favourites but in a cup fixture anything can happen.i’m worried abt our defence & team selection. Will eduardo be back?will last seasons adebayor turn up?

  153. Geoff says:

Hi Irish, nicely written but surely as Walcott and Young are on different wings they can both be the future of England and if Theo goes up top eventually, there may even be room for SWP and Lennon on the right, what do you think?

  154. irishgunner says:

Ha ha I’m very shocked its so lop sided, Its not only Arsenal fans voting, anyone can. The Arsenal propaganda machine must be working well ha ha

  155. Stu says:

lc, you will also remember that his first goal was ofside and he was in fact supposed to be playing right midfield in that game. He scored because of shit refereeing, lack of discipline and ….it was Bolton.

  156. Geoff says:

Ic the booing was because he was complete shit! I suggested he plays at right back tomorrow because I think he’s playing better than Sagna, but on the left, it’s Vela for me, Eboue was hopeless there.

In fact right back is the only place I would play Eboue.

  157. Geoff says:

It’s still a nice piece Irish, take a bow!

  158. Stu says:

I agree about Vela out left actually. He will likely be up against Rafael and he is fucking useless, especially at defending. Vela s a bag of tricks and if Modric can outpace Rafael then anyone can…..except Eboue.

  159. Pires02 says:

Here’s one for you all to ponder (sorry if it’s out there already) – Sagna playing left back to counter Ronaldo. He can’t cross anyway so nothing lost there :0) Could even have Gibbs left midfield (though cannot see Wenger doing that).

  160. irishgunner says:

Geoff – cheers for reading. BBK actually asked me to do it. There was a bit of a debate last night about who was best – Walcott/Lennon or Young – so that’s how it came about. I just needed to come up with a title that would catch people’s attention. So really its “Who do you think is the better player” more than “Who will make the international setup on a regular basis”

  161. Jay says:

    Sup all..

I had a feeling Walcott would come trumps in that 1 ;)

so all -do i wake up early to watch the game..or tape watch lol?

(Arsenal deff i will wake up!)

  162. Mandanda says:

so now we have a defenitive answer on who the best English winger, how about we resolve other matter debbate on the blog. For example, should Ade stay or go? or is Ade our most efffective/best striker? etc.

  163. Mandanda says:

Pires, Sagna playing left is a good option IMO but I think Gibbs has done well so far and seems to be getting more comfortable in the team. This may be the ultimate test tho

  164. irishgunner says:

Jay – I think you’ll wake up anyways as you won’t be able to sleep

  165. ReVELAtion says:

It’s getting closer, but i very much doubt Sir Alex will start with Rafael or fletcher.. A 1-0 win will do them and i wouldn’t be too dissapointed with that result, although an away goal would do wonders… WAs a nice stroll against middlesborough, but they had some dangerous chances and if our defense isn’t on their game we could end up getting pummelled… I am under no biased illusions of the task that faces us regardless of their (Manchester uniteds) form…

    Line ups

damnit.. u know i will.. mayb wake up half time hehe… im recordin it so all good..

my chav mate is hoping that its not 5-0… lol

and Mandanda, please no tinkering in this big game..
    please.

  167. Jay says:

nice to see that their confident haha..

just a quick point – whats all this swine flu crap – is it worth worrying about in the americas/uk?

  168. Mandanda says:

Jay, its seems AW has transformed to the tinkerman. he was quite predictable now…what age does to some eh!
stay up and watch it man! no feeling like watching it live

  169. Mandanda says:

apparently its arrived in the UK and judging by the silence on here today i’m getting worried

  170. ReVELAtion says:

jay – apparently it started in mexico and 2 people have already gone down sick over here (the u.k).. Flights from mexico to london have been quarentined, but for now there’s no outbreak as such..

  171. Jay says:

I mean i will travel to LA NY and the UK all infected spots lol… :| great.

yes but its the Chavs…thats what i meant mandanda haha

  172. Mandanda says:

just like in the nightmarish scene in ’28days’ London ios made desolute by the ‘swine’

  173. ReVELAtion says:

barca haved scored 140 goals in 52 games…. Truth in the “attack is the best form of attack” scenario…

We’re starting to look more solid as a unit going forward but toure, djourou and silvestre don’t fill me with much confidence.. There’s an accident waiting to happen in there, i just hope it’s against portsmouth and not utd… We need defensive reinforcements in the centre back area.. I think we can put to bed the defensive midfielder nonsense from earlier in the season…

  174. Mandanda says:

    desolute = desolate

  175. ReVELAtion says:

attack is the best form of defense*

  176. irishgunner says:

Its in Scotland but don’t they have a cure for it??

  177. ReVELAtion says:

sakho from psg and chiellini from juve would be the only purchases needed in the summer… Get rid of silvestre and senderos and i’ll be a happy bunny

  178. Mandanda says:

Jay, ok i guess u can record. In fact I can tell u the scoreline now if you want ;)

  179. Jay says:

All the great teams attack – no matter in what sport…bball…football..league….I hope arsene has like red bulls/cocaine before the match watches scarface/fevepitch and sends a team out all guns blazing! lol

  180. insidealbania says:

I thought these quotes from Fish head are interesting:

And the 31-year-old admits hanging around with Arsene Wenger’s youngsters is starting to rub off on him.

“In playing terms, they are replicas of each other as they put the onus on going forward but after that, they have two different principles,” said Silvestre, who could start against his former employers in Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final at Old Trafford.

“At United, the squad is built in little stages but always around their pillars, (Paul) Scholes, (Ryan) Giggs and (Gary) Neville. They are the club’s identity, their points of reference on the pitch and in the changing room.

“At Arsenal, it functions more by generations. There has been that of (Patrick) Vieira, (Robert) Pires, (Thierry) Henry. Now it is that of (Cesc) Fabregas, (Theo) Walcott, (Alex) Song, (Aaron) Ramsey.

“We give responsibility to these youngsters very early and we let them grow together. At Arsenal, youth isn’t just an excuse.

“In the changing room, it is simple – to my left is (Jack) Wilshere, who is 16, and to my right is Ramsey, who is 18. We talk about things like the latest video games. It’s good – I feel young again.”

  181. Pires02 says:

Forget what it’s called Irish but apparently you need to take it within the first 36 hours.

Mandanda, yeah, Gibbs has probably earned the right to stay there. Liverpool game aside, Sagna is the better defender though (over Eboue too).

  182. Mandanda says:

yep they use antiretroviral drugs on it, still the Mexicans die from it. not sure why. something doesn’t sound right about the whole swine flu thing.

  183. vandejie says:

    come on ARSENAL!

    Hi everyone.

  184. Pires02 says:

They had a doctor (from WHO I think) on Talksport this morning (Brazil and Irani are still worth a listen). He was talking about the need to take very early. Most people don’t do anything for a few days though.

  185. Pires02 says:

So, who do we want to win the other semi? Chavs would be easier but I would hate them to have the chance of winning the CL.

  186. Mandanda says:

Pires, Sagna along with Gallas are our best defenders. think he needs time to recover from the fever he suffered

hi vandejie, is that your pic as your avatar

  187. Pires02 says:

I’ve gotta go for Barca. Last season’s final was so bad as the only good result would have been a bomb going off on the pitch.

  188. Pires02 says:

Absolutely Mandanda. Gallas is a big miss as he’s been playing out of his skin in 2009. Eboue looks good at RB when we have a lot of ball going forward, but we bought Sagna as he’s not the best defensively. Now if Sagna could only deliver a better ball when overlapping…..

  189. irishgunner says:

Pires – Arsenal vs Barcelona, its meant to be revenge for 2006 :)

  190. Mandanda says:

having Barca in the final would be good, I fear they do the attacking thing better not sure we do the defending better tho. they are probably the closest thing to total football. if Arsh could play I’d say our chances increases by 40%

  191. vandejie says:

Sorry very busy lately…no time to grove.

    Mandanda. That’s my gf.

  192. Pires02 says:

Revenge would be sweet Irish for sure. Wouldn’t be as painful as well (just in case…….)

  193. Mandanda says:

Pires, defo if Sagna could deliver that cross he’d be the best in the world for me. I hope Gallas stays for next season. Eboue seems to be too excitable, not surprising as he is the joker in the team. playing in defence requires a lot of discipline

  194. irishgunner says:

Pires – Yep, we’d be 1-0 down with 15mins left and come back to win 2-1 with an offside goal – see how they like it…

  195. Stu says:

lol Irish, we should do that on puspose. Just to give them a taste of their own medicine.

  196. Pires02 says:

Think Arsh would be good but not just because of his play – think we are short of another player that can be effective wide. Nasri deep in the middle looked superb but that leaves the left to Diaby. I still want David Silva and I’ll keep saying it. That would free up Arsh to play in the number 10 role. RvP could be sold to finance it as overall it would make us better balanced and once again more flowing.
Did secretly hop Rosicky would be back for May but heyho.

  197. Pires02 says:

I’d prefer not to have to be 1-0 down until 75mins though Irish. Unless you will personally guarantee the final elation!

  198. Stu says:

I dont want to think about the match tomorrow night. If i dont think about i can worry about.

  199. Stu says:

Lets talk about something else to take my mind off it.

  200. Pires02 says:

But it would be a bootylicious scenario…

  201. irishgunner says:

I personally guarantee the final elation Pires. What to see that ponce Puyol suffer, wanker. I’d feel bad for Henry but may just laugh in the face of ice cream boy Hleb!!

  202. Mandanda says:

with Sila, Rosicky, Arsh, Cesc …we could be Spain in the disguise Pires. I’m not fussed if we sold RvP too as long as we can get another in an Arsh mould. How about Diego (Werder Bremen), if Silva proves to costly? there is another guy Pablo(24) I find interesting who also plays for Valencia quite similar to Silva, in being small and skillful,

  203. Stu says:

I’d feel bad for Henry but i wouldnt realy care. Essentially one of the reasons he left was to win the CL and imagine him losing the final to the club he left. It would be beautiful..

  204. Pires02 says:

Ice cream boy? :0) Missed that one – where does that come from?

  205. Stu says:

We could only play those 4 playmakers if we played 4-5-1. And had a big CF up front.

  206. Stu says:

    It comes from Chernoble(sp)

  207. Pires02 says:

Actually Stu I think it’s more of a 4-4-2 with Arsh as the second striker. Silva left, Cesc middle and Rosicky right.

  208. Jay says:

    indeed!…
irish ill never 4get that morning – a tear down the side of my eye them bastards stole it from us…

  209. Pires02 says:

    Cesc middle with a.n.other

  210. irishgunner says:

Hleb likes going for ice-cream with other teams agents Pires

  211. Pires02 says:

Did someone on here start the Ade for Pato+Flamini gossip?

  212. Clacko the gooner says:

Afternoon guys, Sorry not been on much, i haven’t died of Swine flu yet just been a bit busy haha.

i think this year is our year in all honesty :-)

  213. irishgunner says:

Jay – I was so upset, it was like a death, so bloody gutted. So near and yet so fecking far

  214. Stu says:

But AA will more often than not come deep. Him playing SS would only work if we had midfielders bombing forward at every opportunity. Mobility and understanding is the key.

  215. irishgunner says:

That was me Pires – I think its a good swap myself :)

  216. Stu says:

Ade for Flamini +money is far fetched.
Ade for Pato alone is ludacris.

  217. Clacko the gooner says:

Irish, i would be happy with just Pato. That kid is class. or maybe Ade for Kaka??

  218. Pires02 says:

Didn’t hear that one. Bloke a few rows from me was trying to get a J (wanker) T song going on Sat about his mum and Tesco’s. Also singing, he’s got a twitch, he’s got a twitch about the bloke at SHL

  219. Stu says:

All we need to do in the summer is get a defensive coach, get Rosicky fit, Sell Adebayor and spend the income on defenders and maybe a DM. Perfect!

  220. Mandanda says:

are we forgetting that the notorious arsenal training regime is guarnteed to keep 2/3 injured at the time? we’ll never have all available so we would play 442/451 depending on who is available…

Pires, that is, indeed a tiki taka 4-4-2 with some explosive Arsh. Stu u can throw in the lump Bendtner as the lone forward or if deperate get Chris Samba :)

  221. Pires02 says:

A nice rumour I must admit – Pato would be class.

  222. Stu says:

Bendtner isnt actually a bad idea tho. He is a decent footballer and can play the fast free flowing football we like to exhibit.

    A front 5, a DM maestro and a mean defence. Domination guarenteed…

  223. Robert Green says:

when was the last time van persie played a whole season?

  224. Stu says:

    What season did he join?

  225. irishgunner says:

Did he hear that Phil Brown’s son got caught with cocaine??? I wonder was he wearing a hoodie ha ha

  226. Stu says:

What colour was the coke? Orange maybe? Heheh

  227. irishgunner says:

RVP joined for the 2005 season, he won the FA Cup in his first year and zilch since then

  228. Robert Green says:

    he signed in may 2004

  229. Stu says:

Precisely Irish. VP hasnt done anything since joining.

  230. Stu says:

Van Persie is talented but injury prone and doesnt win anything….except the Emirates and Amsterdam tournament..

  231. irishgunner says:

 Maybe Stu ha ha ha The cops will have to bring some charges 1) doing coke 2) encroaching on the club dance floor 3) being dressed in the clothes he was dressed in

  232. Pires02 says:

Bfore this season I was already to offload RvP, and now, I’d still be tempted because he’s one of the players that is worth some dough along with Ade to finance some others. Ade is a great striker when the fecker can be bothered. That’s about £40m worth. Enough for a wide player, a CB and a DM if we must. Would still have Bendy, Eddie, Arsh, Vela upfront.

  233. Robert Green says:

I have heard a number of rumors that he refuses to play when he doesn’t feel he is 100%

  234. Mandanda says:

Bedntner may yet turn out good I must say he has improved from last season. Actually, he been steadily improving over the past 2/3 years. Atm, Ade is still our best striker in terms of output i.e. goals ratio and assists.
At this point both players (Ade and Bendtner) are an anaethema to our attacking free flowing football to be frank!

  235. Stu says:

Van Persie is the same. Great when he feels like it but doesnt feel like it often. And imo he doesnt really suit our play. He likes lots of touches and shooting from everywhere..

  236. Pires02 says:

    4 players short of world domination;

    Vidic
    Diarra (mahamadou)
    Silva
    Villa

  237. Pires02 says:

Shooting from everywhere I don’t mind too much Stu as we are sometimes shot shy, but I agree, he slows the play too much and rarely looks for an early pass.

  238. Stu says:

Aside from Vidic they would all be attainable if we spent enough money.

  239. Robert Green says:

I wouldn’t be too bothered if wenger sold adebayor, Nicky B and van persie. They all have ego problems as well.!! That’s another reason why i like our little Russian!! he is always smiling!!

  240. Stu says:

I wouldnt have a problem with Van Persie shooting so much if he got more on target. I fear for those sitting behind the goal when he is playing.

  241. Stu says:

I’d keep Bendtner is only for his age. He will improve a lot. Van Persie is really yet to imprvove to the level he should have. He hasnt really gotten a lot better since joining.
As for Ade he can just fuck off. He wants to leave, most of us want him to leave and some clubs will probably be interested. Its the best solution.

  242. Mandanda says:

see Eto’o might be moving to man shitty, rumour was that he had dodgy knees. suppose that’ll be a chance for a final pay day. what they need is a decent manager.

  243. irishgunner says:

Silva and Villa would cost about £60mil

  244. km says:

buying david silva will cost a lot of money & we’d be involved in a bidding war with l’pool & man utd ahead of us.also i dnt think think we’r in the market for a LM as we have arshavin, rosicky & traore (who’s back frm loan nxt season).but a lot will depend on rosicky’s pre-season & whether wenger believes traore can cut it as LW.

  245. Robert Green says:

whats your thoughts on eduardo and walcott playing upfront? Then you could have nasri and arshavin on the wings

  246. Franchise says:

Stu stay off the narcotics  bendtner is piss poor. one of the most one dimensional player at the club at the moment

  247. tomstoned says:

    afternoon All…

great post Geoff, seems so long ago when men where men,and not cry babies…

i actually favour chelski gettin to rome..they have a way of killing all play…and im not sure that barca is up for that..seeing who they have played this year..the spanish league is not what we tend to believe…so barca have theire work cut out for them…
that said wiping the floor with chelski in rome would be just as beating some catala shite…besides then Henry will be spared the humiliation….so for me its a win win situation…

and the mancs ooops almost forgot ..but there is no way we are going to loose that..we’re a far better team….no doubt..its going to be a trashing the media will write about for the next century…the emerging of Our Beloved Arsenal as the best team in the world !!
is there any thing better tha beeing a Gooner these days..dont think so..:)

    tom.

  248. Pires02 says:

Agreed Stu, the players are generally available at a price. About £80m for the three. Sure we could raise £50m for Ade, RvP and a few of the youngsters. Should just cough up and take a small gamble.

  249. Howard says:

    Geof

Agreed, Sagna played poorly against POOL but it’s because he was not fully recovered. Sagna at 80% is better than Eboue at 100%. Eboue will be toast against Rooney, Ronaldo and Co.

He’s defensively poor and lacks focus in big games.

  250. Franchise says:

can bendtner fire us to league glory? in ur wildest dream. having a threesome with carla bruni and carol vodermann is more possible.

  251. Franchise says:

forgot to add…… with spielberg filming it

  252. Pires02 says:

km, Can’t be doing with Traore. I know he’s improved a bit but the ONLY reason for wanting back was due to a shortage. Yes we have x, y and z that can play wide but this season has shown us that we need more as those players can, and will, also be useful centrally in other games.

  253. Pires02 says:

Ade is definitely our best striker Franchise but he needs a kick up the arse (and I’m not sure that will even do). As he’s the player who will attract the most money it may be worth throwing him into the transfer pot and hoping an Arsh/Eddie (or a newbie) can do the business.

  254. Robert Green says:

I can’t believe some people think eboue is a better right than Sagna!! Sagna is much better!! The game against middlesbrough was his first game back after injury

  255. Mandanda says:

now voderman i find quite interesting…

  256. Pires02 says:

And damn I was so close Franchise but there’s no way I could get Spielberg….

  257. irishgunner says:

Barcelona midfielder Alex Hleb admits he couldn’t care less if former club Arsenal beat Manchester United tomorrow night in their Champions League semi.

“Honestly, I don’t care,” Hleb told Sport Express.

“At the moment, I’m only thinking about the game against Chelsea.

“They [Arsenal and Manchester United] are two very good teams but, as I said, it makes no difference to me who wins.”
    ——————————————————
What a ponce… why is he thinking about the Chelsea game, its not like he’ll be playing…

  258. Pires02 says:

RG, does anyone really think Eboue is better than Sagna?

  259. Mandanda says:

Rob Green – i don’t think anyone think Eboue is better its that Sagna is recoverying from yellow fever. I think he was rushed back against pool and it showed. Whilst he recovers its best for Eboue to play right back. After all, eboue got us to teh final in 2006. He was generally reagarded as the best right in the EPL that season

  260. Geoff says:

Robert a fit Eboue is better than an unfit Sagna in my opinion, I didn’t think Sagna played against boro, I thought that was Eboue.

  261. Franchise says:

i dont mind Ade being sold but i dont want his replacement to be internal. bendtner would never be a reverred striker. he doesnt have the attributes. in nowadays footie as an attacking player if u dont have pace then ur finishing and box instincts must be sharp (ruud van nisterooy, huntelaar, inzaghi etc) bendtner has none of these qualities. he isnt even a good dribbler.

  262. Mandanda says:

I think Hleb might be the ball boy at the chav game, with Lumps shooting evrywhere he must be worried about the miles he’d have to coner to retrieve dem balls

  263. Franchise says:

Pires lol how close were you?

  264. tomstoned says:

:) touche Irish …..stacking up on champers :)

hope youre having a great day in Arsenal heaven Irish

Sagna will never be far better than Eboue RG and i actually do,,,Eboue has a much better passing game than Sagna,,Sagna is more solid defending at th moment but thats mainly due to Eboue’s lack of playing full back…lets go back abit in time..and the big ?mark is why did Wenger remove Eboue from right back position ..still gets me..? and i would tend to call it at least a foolish move…

    tom

  265. irishgunner says:

ha ha ha Mandanda maybe Hleb will have to watch the corner flags

  266. irishgunner says:

Stacking up the champers Tom – the extra dear stuff since its the Mancs we’re knocking out :)

  267. Jay says:

Ive only felt like that 4 times in my life – when eduardo got injured – losing the cl final – when Henry left – not winnign last year.

  268. tomstoned says:

agreed Irish..only the best for the best..and heey we’ll even throw in a extra couple of bottles just to be on the safe side..:)

    tom

  269. Faceman says:

FFS red nose will sell Tevez to Real and buy Benzema this summer :(

  270. irishgunner says:

    Ha ha Tom

  271. Mandanda says:

those Barca guys are too nice sometimes, irish, really they should charge Hleb for the pleasure of watching that team play. silly boy!

  272. Clacko the gooner says:

Faceman, Red nose can’t sell him because he doesn’t own him!! It’s a loan that Tevez is on and it finishes at the end of this season. If they want to keep him they will have to shell out another £30m

  273. Wardo says:

Good post Geoff….I’ve seen the David Hillier interview. He says that running into a burning house give more adrenaline than football…….brave fella !!

As for Zakora, I really think you have missed the hidden message with his comments. Basically, he is trying to say that he turned down Arsenal cause he knew he had F all chance of breaking into the team and that he would be happy at a shit club that had ambition only to win the lowest of the domestic cups. To be honest Geoff, I make him right as he cant even break intot he Spuds 1st team yet………oh, one finla point Fcuker is spelt with an F not S.

    Afternoon all grovers.

  274. km says:

@robert green-dnt think nasri is a winger.he’s 5times better centrally either as cm/am/2nd striker. We need an aggressive striker like rooney/tevez/drogba/torres.bendtner & ade are not aggressive enough for their size.rvp has that aggression but is too hot/cold.however i agree bendtner will play better with a nippy front striker like eddy/vela/theo but he’s still not arsenal class yet-how long will it take? He’s our plan B when things aren’t working & we need to launch high balls upfield. Dnt think eto will leave barca unless he gets a crazy wage packet or barca want to cash in to buy villa:)

  275. Mandanda says:

good point Clacko, not sure but i think they only have to add £20m to what they have paid already

  276. Faceman says:

    good point, clacko.

the fucking pisshead will just get some more loan shark cash off his yanks to pay the 40M for benzema straight.

    fuckers

  277. tomstoned says:

but then again im maybe abit foolish but i actually think Wenger is trying to make Our Beloved Arsenal into a team that plays the famous *total Football* created to success by Ajax Amsterdam..they would have ruled European soccer if they have had the finances..in that regard i think Eboue playing midfield is just a way to teach him to be a better player overall and that he soon will be back at right back position..but again its just my humble opinion..i might be wrong…

    tom

  278. irishgunner says:

 Mandanda I think its safe to say that our favourite ex player will be leaving Barca the end of the season

  279. Robert Green says:

Yeah i get your point and i agree a fit eboue is better than an unfit sagna. I just dont like eboue and tomstones eboue passing is poor the pass to fabregas was a one off!!! ;-)

  280. Faceman says:

sagna will play in my opinion, eboue is not defensively good enough.

would be better in the home tie if we need to go for goals.

  281. Stu says:

Sagna will start along with Denilsong and Adebayor. OPINION!

  282. tomstoned says:

    Robert Green mate ..

opinion differs…not only is Eboue’s passing better mate but he’s a far more potent player attacking wise..and please look at Sagna’s passing success this season …not all that good i think..im actually tempted to call it shameful..ive counted two good crosses..;)

    tom

  283. Pires02 says:

Carla and Carol were in the bag Franchise. They saw your post (they both read Le Grove) and immediately texted me. I could get Rodriguez but not Spielberg (and asked RR if he could have a word with the love of my life Salma….)

  284. Robert Green says:

i fancy us fir the title if this one comes off :-)

    http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11670_5250967,00.html

  285. Stu says:

And FIshface probably too. Wenger just wanted to get our hopes up by taking him off. He is actually fit to play and Wenger is trying to kill us.

  286. tomstoned says:

you might just be right Stu mate :) opinion :)

  287. Stu says:

*fish head…..i dont know who fishface is…..

  288. Pires02 says:

Tom, AW bought Sagna as Eboue’s defending wasn’t quite up to it. Eboue going forward is better but a defender’s first job is just that, to defend. Sagna’s crossing is woeful but he actually had a couple of good ones in the last home game!

  289. Mandanda says:

irish, yep you can say that next destination Germany i reckon. wouldn’t be surprised if man shitty got him tho!

    tom
total football in the original form is almost impossible to play in modern football. the constant presuring of opponents in all areas of teh pitch? the ability for all teh players to play all/several positions? etc the Dutch did it in 1974 but only with the aid of some “medication”

  290. Pires02 says:

    Thanks for that RG!

  291. Faceman says:

Fab, Song, Diaby should be the 3CMs with Nasri and Walcott the wingers.

We have to be offensive, the away goal is MASSIVE.

  292. Stu says:

Apart from their defence Barca are pretty much total football. They pressure the oppo into giving the ball away and all of their attackers can play any attacking position. Even alves can play anywhere except CB and DM.

  293. Pires02 says:

    Already said what the team will be Stu :0);

    ———Almunia———
    Sagna Toure Silvestre Gibbs
    ——Nasri Song——–
    Walcott—-Cesc——Diaby
    ——–Adebayor———

  294. Stu says:

I just hope the same thing that happened to Reyes doesnt happen to any of our youngsters. Those dirty fucker mancs!

  295. tomstoned says:

and after Geoff and myself had different view of Eboue(like always)..i looked back and most of the time Eboues mistakes was due to the fact that he had difficulties finding his position in the back four…i think this is solely due to lacking play time and would be only better …

    tom

  296. Stu says:

Thats a shite choice Pires. Rpnaldo will have a field day against Gibbs. Especially with Diaby at left wing. He is shit!

  297. irishgunner says:

We should try and beat the bastards – might as well draw 3-3 as draw 1-1 innit??

  298. Stu says:

Tom, Eboue has no positional awareness,. Never has…never will and thats why he is a shite defender. Its nothing to do with being rusty. He just isnt a natural defender and thats why Wenger bought Sagna. FACT!

  299. Stu says:

lol Irish, picking up the english lingo innit!

  300. goonermichael says:

I saw that David Hillier thing a while back and it’s obvious he takes everything he does seriously and gives 100%. a great bloke too.

  301. irishgunner says:

Provisional squad: Almunia, Sagna, Toure, Silvestre, Gibbs, Nasri, Song, Denilson, Fabregas, Walcott, Adebayor, Fabianski, Djourou, Eduardo, Bendtner, Diaby, Vela, Ramsey, Eboue.

So is Eduardo back then or what?? Is AW giving a press conference today?

  302. Pires02 says:

Well Stu, I don’t pick the team mate!

  303. tomstoned says:

Pires i hear you mate still i think that Wenger always plan further ahead than we most of the time pick up on….
very true Mandanda still isnt that what Wengers all about trying to reach the almost impossible…

    tom.

  304. irishgunner says:

Thought I’d throw it in their Stu

  305. Pires02 says:

That’s the team AW will pick!

  306. Stu says:

But you just did Pires. The official team doesnt get announced until 1hour befroe kick off.
Its not like Wenger would just name his team days before. He aint Mourinho at all.

  307. tomstoned says:

Stu mate make that an opinion and i would happy …

    tom

  308. Pires02 says:

Stu, if I said FACT! after it does it make it better :0)

  309. Stu says:

Cant do it Tom. Its a known fact.

  310. Mandanda says:

like I said earlier, Barca are prob the closest to total football but I don’t think that any of their midfielders or forwards can play defensive positions. AZ Alkmaar, play an updated version by all accounts

  311. Faceman says:

imagine ade and eddy starting up front :)

  312. Stu says:

I know Faceman. It would be awful wouldnt it. No running what so ever. Yuk!

  313. irishgunner says:

HELLO *waves hands* Is there a press conference today?

  314. Faceman says:

Mandana – YaYa Toure is the best DM in football at the minute, he does the job for barca well enough.

  315. km says:

wots the odds on ade leaving this summer?i think he’s seduced by the fact that ac milan have a gr8 history but he doesn’t know that the future belongs to Arsenal:) i r.hope we get a world class striker & throw shit like ade & bendtner out.villa & dzenko are unlikely to leave unless we put a r.massive offer in for them.

  316. Pires02 says:

I think he’ll pick that team Stu for some reason. My reason is that he a) played 4-5-1 against boro purely to practice it b) played Nasri deep and he was MoM c) brought Diaby on for Cesc but moved Arsh centrally to play Diaby at LM.
    FACT!

  317. Stu says:

But Diaby was/is shite….especially at left midfield. He cant defend or track back or anything that requires concentration. Thus his only position is in the hole behind the lone striker.

  318. Faceman says:

Nasri on the left, Diaby behind Ade, fab and song sitting back.

  319. Stu says:

Irish, wave your fecking hands all you want. We cant help if we dont know ourselves.

  320. Faceman says:

    song being fabs minder.

  321. A says:

nah he didn’t pires – diaby came on centrally, i can’t remember the last time wenger played him out wide. Arshavin said on his website that when cesc went off he just had more freedom to roam around all over the pitch, but his official position was still out left.

i think diaby might play if nasri stays out wide left, but if nasri is moved centrally then bendtner would play on the flank ahead of diaby.

  322. A says:

yeah faceman i could see that happening

  323. tomstoned says:

well Stu then i just have to disagree…only thing missing now mate is a pint then we would have a great discussion ..:)

dont know about AZ Mandanda but i agree on the barca view the weakness of barca is the itty grit of the game much like Our Beloved Arsenal that said i think Arsenal have come further in fixing that…barca is like us far better when the teams they are playing wants to play …when has ever chelski wanted to play..and not destroy…ill think tonite we get a proof of the fact that the premier league are a far better league than the spanish..

    tom

  324. Stu says:

    Song
    Theo Cesc Nasri
    Diaby
    Adebayor

Thats probably what he will play but i would prefer:

    Song
    Cesc Nasri
    Theo Bendtner/Adebayor Vela

  325. Mandanda says:

Faceman, Yaya is pretty good what do you think of Mascherano and Essien?

  326. Pires02 says:

Does AW always adhere to logic then Stu? A big NO there. I don’t rate Diaby on the left Stu, in fact he fucking annoying in general. He’s a bit 1,2,3 – 1 game worldbeater, 2 games shit, 3 games injured…..

  327. A says:

has diaby played out wide at all this season? i can’t remember it happening?

  328. Faceman says:

All 3 are superb Mandanda. Yaya is bigtime underated in world football, i see him play a lot in la liga.

He really is the vieria version 2.0, awesome defending and attacking.

  329. Stu says:

Pirs, dont kid yourself any longer. Diaby has never has a whole game where he has been a worldbeater. Maybe a half at most. Usually the second half too.

  330. irishgunner says:

I was only asking Stu – thought some one might help FACT!! ;)

  331. Pires02 says:

A, that ain’t want it looked like. As soon as Diaby came on AA went central. Maybe they interchanged but AA went central.

  332. A says:

i agree with that faceman, yaya is very underrated. really thought we’d be snapping him up in the summer too, but with song’s emergence and wenger’s comments about not wanting to kill song/denilson’s careers I can’t see it happening now

  333. Stu says:

False!! Irish you hoped someone might help. No fact to be seen there

  334. Pires02 says:

Stu, ok, ok. Now I need to think up something else for my 1/2, 1, 2, 3…… Damn!

  335. Stu says:

If Wenger doesnt want to ruin/kill their careers then fucking sell the bastards. I dont give a shit about the youngsters careers. Let them fucking develope somewhere else instead of ruining the club by having ti wait for them to come good before selling them and starting all over again! CUNT!

  336. Faceman says:

no chance we sign any developed DM now that song has finally started to live up to his ACN perfomrnaces and AW’s rave reviews.

with coq-au-vin, jet and frimpong coming through the youth ranks i think we really ne to focus on central defensive reinforcements on a big scale this summer.

we need at least one solid centre half, 2 if billy goes.

  337. irishgunner says:

Stu – you swear too much FACT!!! :)

  338. Pires02 says:

    Say what you mean Stu….

  339. Faceman says:

a proper shit hot clinical striker in the mould of torres would not go amiss either.

  340. Wardo says:

Stu….I use to think Diaby would be a world beater. He just has not improved over the last year or so……..I can not understand why though. He has a lot of skill. Seems to be pretty strong. Has enough pace……….he could be a good player. He is just playing shit at the moment

  341. A says:

pires – arshavin said himself he was still in the same position, but just had more freedom to roam all over the pitch. diaby didn’t actually go out left at all, maybe covered for arshavin a couple of times when he went walkabout but whenever the ball was out of play arshavin was back in his left wing position, bendtner right, diaby just in front of denilson and nasri.

although people are going on about theo raping evra as lennon did at the weekend, i wonder if wenger could throw up a surprise and stick theo out left in the overmars sort of role, where he’d destroy rafael, and maybe eboue out right

  342. Stu says:

Irish, fack that! I dont swear enough!

  343. Pires02 says:

I need to get me some of those smiley face thingys. Where are they again?

  344. Faceman says:

torres is so fucking class, now i know how other fans felt when we had henry.

  345. A says:

agree about defensive recruitments and no central midfield signings, though you missed out ramsey as a player coming through! also JET won’t make it as a centre mid and i don’t think frimpong will make it, coquelin gonna be amazing though!

we won’t sign a clinical forward, like the killing of song/denilson it would kill vela, who will just get many more games next season if ade goes, which i think he will

  346. Pires02 says:

A, I must have been at a different game then! Maybe AA took the piss and immediately went central so Diaby didn’t have far to go! :0)

  347. A says:

faceman – just wait for vela to develop, he’ll be better :-)

  348. Pires02 says:

    Cheers Stu.

  349. irishgunner says:

Some of these Pires :?: :)  :( :D

  350. Mandanda says:

Faceman, that’s quite a good description I have never considered Yaya as quite a purely defensive midfielder but would do a very good job in that position. Song is more of pure defensive midfielder IMO.

    tom,
I kinda agree AZ are not quite total football but they tend to do the presuring bit very well when opponents get to their own half. i must as a football obsessive, i must admit i also like the powerful machinelike way in which chelsea set out at their opponenets. Really it’d be stupid to call them a defensive team, they attack but do it in a different way. It should be very interesting tonight watching two diffrent attacking styles go at each othet. Still, i hate the chavs and prefer the Arsenal way

  351. Pires02 says:

Oh, and by the way, I think I remember Hillier having a trial at Barnet a good few years back now – maybe as one last try.

  352. Pires02 says:

Trying to rub in your skill with the faces Irish! I like the one with the big round eyes, slightly embarassed.

  353. irishgunner says:

    8O

  354. tomstoned says:

well off have a great afternoon all Gooners

Irish tried to find out if there was a press conference today..but couldnt…but i know there generally is a press conference in champions league the night before..so it should pop up later tonite..

    tom.

  355. irishgunner says:

Cheers Tom, talk soon enjoy your evening :)

  356. Pires02 says:

    80

  357. Pires02 says:

    Let’s try again….

  358. Mandanda says:

  359. irishgunner says:

Its an 8 and capital O

    8O

  360. Mandanda says:

    :D

  361. irishgunner says:

    8)

  362. Mandanda says:

    8)

  363. Mandanda says:

now u r showing off pires

  364. Pires02 says:

    woohoo!

  365. irishgunner says:

  366. Pires02 says:

    Killed the refresh speed!

  367. Faceman says:

A, what has happened with Vela?

i love him, i really think he is the bollocks, has skill pace and power… and unlike our other strikers is clinical.

he could play the wide left position instead of arshavin in the champs league for me, i dont like nasri there.. he is clearly a central player.

but vela, as proved in the FA cup can play wide left/come left sided striker and has the pace to be utilised on counters as we do with theo on the right.

  368. Mandanda says:

    bing

  369. Mandanda says:

    bang

  370. Mandanda says:

    bong

  371. Mandanda says:

    ching

  372. Pires02 says:

    Cheap Mandanda :o

  373. Mandanda says:

    chang

  374. Mandanda says:

    damne u Pires damne you:)

  375. Mandanda says:

    :)

  376. A says:

pires i take it back – watching the match on sky plus – diaby is kinda on the left, more than i thought he was! i’m confused by arshavin saying his position didn’t change on his website now….

  377. patthegooner says:

    Didn’t take long did it.

To be honest though Arshavin’s Agent had trouble written all over him from the start

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1174370/Agent-claims-Arshavin-target-jealousy-Arsenal-lured-Barcelona.html?ITO=1490

  378. Mandanda says:

ok i’m off grovers. have a good one

  379. Franchise says:

A i think Diaby would play on the left. Nasri was started in the middle for that reason i believe. and denilson over Song to keep the cameroonian fresh. arshavin for diaby was a no brainer. i reckon we would shape up like this

    …………….Almunia………………..

    …………Toure……..Djourou………….

    Sagna………………………………Gibbs

    ……………Nasri….Song………………

    Walcott………….Cesc……………..Diaby

    ………………..Badey………………….

  380. A says:

is silvestre out then franchise?? if he’s out it could be problematic and change a few things, depending on djourou’s fitness. If djourou isn’t fit enough to start, then song would have to drop back, in which case i’d imagine it’d be diaby and denilson centrally, nasri left.

i could see that team starting, though i could see bendtner on the left, or theo left and eboue right, because diaby on the left would be us missing out on a chance to target rafael.

nasri was played centrally as a test, it’ll depend on how wenger thought it went as to whether he’ll start there tomorrow, though he did do pretty well, just because he played there doesn’t mean he’ll definitely start there tomorrow.

  381. Wardo says:

Pat the Gooner………his agent has the same aspirations as Anelka’s agents (who were his brothers). Latch onto a good player then try and move them around Europe’s biggest clubs for big bucks………this is the only way he can make a shit load of cash. Also comments like what he has made will only help his cause……obviously, if he and Wenger start to clash, it may unsettle Arshavin and could end up with him leaving…….but, i doubt it to be honest.

  382. Stu says:

I dont believe what his agent says. I think he is bullshitting. Why would the players say they werent interested in him? Its total bollcoks if you ask me.

  383. Franchise says:

in the second half against pool when walcott came on for denilson we still played a 451 but nasri switched from the right to the middle where denilson occupied. then we had song, cesc and nasri in the middle and it appeared more balanced than when we played denilson in there.

    bye mandanda

  384. Pires02 says:

A, no probs, just my recollection (but I am now the wrong side of 40 and have a tendency to forget what I did at the weekend so hence try not to argue too fervently!)

  385. Wardo says:

Also, Arshavin looks pretty happy on the pitch and only last week said he could end his career at Arsenal…….I think his agent did not like that. Almost like being told there is not another big pay day for him.

  386. irishgunner says:

    1) Its the Daily Mail and 2) Its that bollix of an agent

Even Bendtner thinks Arshavin is great and he’s not one for complementing other people.

  387. Franchise says:

if eduardo isnt 100% fit i doubt if wenger would start bendtner he might want to keep him on the bench. bendtner might then come on for theo or Ade depending on the circumstance of the game. if we are chasing an away goal desperately he might want to switch to 442. or if ade is tired, injured or ineffective then he might want to replace like for like in a 451

  388. Faceman says:

That way  for the exit door Badey.

  389. A says:

ha well to be fair i thought something similar pires on sunday, but then last night i was reading the arshavin post match interview on his website, and he said the position was the same, but he had more freedom, so i figured he’d just roamed around more. watching it now though it is a bit weird, when they had the ball diaby covered out left, but when we had the ball diaby went central, and we basically didn’t have a left sided player, denilson was there more than anyone else!

what are people’s predictions for tonight?? i’m going for 5-2 to barca, was wanting to put money on it but ladbrokes doesn’t have 5-2 as a score you can bet on!

  390. Faceman says:

    bet on unquoted, A

  391. patthegooner says:

I think it is bollocks as well.

I just knew his agent was going to be a cock,

despite just signing, I guarantee he will be already pimping him around in the summer.

  392. Franchise says:

A they can ring their HQ for the odds. i know Barca would score at least 3 im not sure how many chelsea would score but u can bet ur life savings that didier would get one.

  393. Faceman says:

i think chelski will give em a good game, i fancy 1-1 or 2-2

  394. A says:

bendtner was much more central to our play on saturday than he was given credit for. in the first 15 mins he started the attacks for our two best chances – the gibbs attempt and the one where arshavin got in centrally and his shot was blocked.

  395. irishgunner says:

A – I don’t know what will happen tonight. Barca could give Chelsea a footballing lesson or else it could be a 3-2.

  396. Pires02 says:

TAIG, you around for A’s bet!

  397. A says:

    ah ok faceman/franchise, cheers.

yeah i’m sure barca will score 3 minimum, but i think chelsea will get a couple as well, could be a very high scoring game

  398. Faceman says:

barca can’t defend, chelski are very powerful going forward, trust me, chelski wont get stuffed

  399. A says:

yeah irish, i could see barca being 3-0 up after 25 mins, or it could be like the liverpool chelsea game, with both teams scoring every other attack, not sure which way it’ll go!

i wonder if essien will try and ‘van bommel’ messi early on, and if the ref will notice it

  400. Faceman says:

tonight will be a an all time classic, barca can only attakc and under hiddink chelski know that they need away goals and will go for the throat a lah anfield.

  401. A says:

i dunno about not being able to defend faceman, they’ve still got by far the best defensive record in la liga, though obviously it’s a much much more attacking league than the prem. they’re much weaker defensively than offensively obviously, but i wouldn’t go so far as to say they can’t defend

  402. irishgunner says:

Take out Messi and they are only left to worry about Eto’o, Henry, Xavi, Alves and Iniesta ha ha

  403. Pires02 says:

Best result tonight? Lot’s of bookings, lots of injuries (John Tesco, Pinball Frank and the Diving Dog in particular).

  404. A says:

    that is helpful, cheers irish

  405. A says:

yeah i know irish, it’s ridiculous isn’t it! if they concentrate on messi then dani alves could rape them down the right!

  406. Faceman says:

Hiddink is such a smart manager, he will have the tactical edge on the rookie guardiola.

really fancy chelski over 2 legs.

  407. irishgunner says:

A – yep and then how do you solve a problem like Henry?? Think he’ll like to smash one or two past them for old times sake

  408. irishgunner says:

Hiddink is smart but not that smart, he’s a very good manager and I really like him but he has messed up, he seems to fall before the final hurdle a good bit

  409. Faceman says:

Barca are a superb team, they really are… but chelski are the hardest opposition for them out of the last 4 teams.. due to their physical strenghts and experience.

  410. irishgunner says:

Liverpool would have been harder for Barca cos they have a higher work rate and are more in your face than Chelsea but Chelsea do have a chance

  411. Pires02 says:

Apart from us of course faceman! 8O

  412. Faceman says:

irish – he got his team into the final of the fa cup well enough.

trust me, hiddink is pure class and is the only manager alive who could fill wengers shoes at arsenal.

i am terrified he does a deal to stay at chelski next year…. he gets teams playing.

look what he has done at every sing club or national team he has ever managed, large or small.

  413. Pires02 says:

Gotta go. Actually working in the office today hence the time to blog :) When I work at home I watch the telly! :0)

  414. irishgunner says:

Faceman – I’m not doubting Hiddink’s abilities at all but Wenger messed up more than Hiddink getting things right in the FA semi.

He won’t stay at Chelsea, he likes international management and moving around.

Wasn’t he at Madrid or something and it went horribly wrong?

South Korea getting to the semis of the World Cup was pure and utter cheating IMO that match against Italy was a disgrace.

  415. irishgunner says:

    See ya Pires

  416. Pires02 says:

And Geoff, do you remember at that time of Hillier, Selley and Morrow that GG actually played Keown in the most defensive midfield ever known to man!

  417. A says:

well there’s 0% chance of him staying next season faceman, chelsea have already had to accept that.

he’s a good manager but not some miracle worker that he seems to be paraded as, imo chelsea’s resurgence has much more to do with essien’s return than hiddink’s arrival

  418. Pires02 says:

    See ya Irish.

  419. Bud says:

Afternoon chaps/esses – whats making Le-Grovers tick today?

Read that shit about Arshavin from his agent…. mind you, Lachter is the same agent that said he hadn’t signed for Arsenal and would not…. Cock !

  420. A says:

yeah irish, he did badly and was sacked at madrid then went to betis who sacked him too. he was fantastic at psv though

  421. km says:

agree with u FACEMAN.hiddink is a master coach/ manager.he’s r.inspired chelsea this season & i wouldn’t be surprised if barca get bulldozed over

  422. irishgunner says:

    Afternoon Bud.

Yep “A” he is a top manager as I said but he’s not the greatest thing since sliced bread. It is Chelsea after all, its not like he had nothing to work with.

  423. A says:

    Hiddink’s managerial career –

    PSV Eindhoven – awesome
    Fenerbahçe – crap
    Valencia – quite good
    Netherlands – good
    Real Madrid – crap
    Real Betis – crap
    South Korea – awesome
    PSV – awesome
    Australia – quite good
    Russia – good
    Chelsea – ????

  424. A says:

obviously the crap – quite good – good – awesome ratings are all based on my personal opinion, nothing particularly scientific about it!

  425. km says:

Is ADEBAYOR staying this year or do u guys think he’s leavin?

  426. A says:

i feel for bendtner from sat – he should have had a first half brace if theo hadn’t fucked up really easy chances to roll the ball across

  427. dennisdamenace says:

Phil Brown is a Cunt – FACT

  428. irishgunner says:

I still think the South Koreans are cheats, if not them the authorities, that knock out tie with Italy was definitely fixed.

  429. km says:

@A– didnt hiddink win la liga with madrid?

  430. irishgunner says:

That is an actual FACT DDM :)

  431. A says:

oh yeah i agree irish, it was an incredible feat getting as far as they did, but they certainly didn’t succeed through great footballing means

  432. Bud says:

KM – I pray with all my prayers that that lazy fcuking tosser leaves…… I can stomach players that are crap but try, after all it is Wenger that puts them in the team, but lazy up their own arse wankers like him can do one !!!!!!!!

And those that have been on this site since th beginning will remember that I have always called him as a lazy turd and I cried the day he stayed !!!!

  433. A says:

no km – he was appointed in summer of 98, and sacked in feb 99, didn’t even last out a season!

  434. irishgunner says:

KM – Nope don’t think he won anything in Spain. Think he won the World Club Championship with Madrid but thats it

  435. Bud says:

In fact, I am going to set up a blog site and call it “Adebeyor-Lazy Wanker”…..

  436. nishanth says:

Ballack is going to struggle big time against barca tonite.Rooney will miss the second leg if he gets a yellow.Does anyone know who all have a chance of missing the second leg from out team?

  437. dennisdamenace says:

If my source is to believed the overpaid, overhyped, lazy, egotistical twat will be gone as soon as the season has finished….

  438. km says:

random but have to mention it….IBRAHIMOVIC has said he’s leaving Inter this summer. Would he suit us?also will we see a change in our transfer policy/strategy this summer with GAZIDIS in charge?

  439. A says:

i believe your source ddm!! though it’s as much out of hope as genuine belief!!

  440. irishgunner says:

RVP, Nasri and someone else?? are on 2 yellows

  441. Bud says:

I read somewhere this morning it was Song, Denilson and Nasri???

  442. irishgunner says:

Robin VAN PERSIE, Alexandre SONG, Abou DIABY and Samir NASRI will miss the second leg of this semi-final if they receive a yellow card.

  443. A says:

nasri is a worry, i can see him tripping someone up. song too with one of his body checks, and diaby with his clumsiness

  444. nishanth says:

From where did you find out irish

  445. irishgunner says:

BBC website Nish and its Rooney and Evra on 2 yellows for the Mancs

  446. goonermichael says:

vidic and evra are on yellows

  447. nishanth says:

Especially if nasri plays in the middle

  448. nishanth says:

Great.Theo should have a real go at evra in that case.

  449. irishgunner says:

DK – its rubbish that agent was always trouble

  450. goonermichael says:

    the agent’s a cunt

  451. A says:

anything from the daily mail should be banned, the sports editor is a spud, and prints a daily anti-arsenal story, based on basically fuck all

  452. nishanth says:

Its crap all the way.I really wonder at times why players stick to these kind of crap agents. This report is fabricated but i wouldn’t be surprised if that cunt latcher made up something like this

  453. Bud says:

And the Spud Cunt at the mail, NEVER posts retort comments on Arsenal slating stories…. transparent fuckwit !!!

  454. Paulinho says:

It’s incredible how they Daily Mail keep doing this.

He’s playing with alot of mediocre players at Zenit as for years as well so surely he can indulge planks like Adebayor and Eboue for a while yet, at least until Wenger buys some players on his level.

  455. irishgunner says:

So its RvP, Nasri, Song and Diaby from us and Rooney and Evra for them. Vidic only has one yellow

  456. Stu says:

Oaulinho, the difference is that at Zenit, the average players worked their bollocks off and everyone knew eachother.
We dont exactly have a team of workers.

  457. Stu says:

    *Paulinho

  458. irishgunner says:

Jaysus that article is a pile of shite why are people believing it FFS

  459. Chipo says:

The Daily Mail are a bunch of sensationalist, middle England, snobby, arrogant, small-minded, stupid racist cunts.

    To put it mildly.

  460. A says:

    well said chipo

  461. Bud says:

I don’t think they are Irish….. I think everyone filling time waiting for Wengers Press Conference…… why do SKy do it…. “coming up next the full press conference with Arsene Wenger”…. that was 3 hours ago……..

  462. Chipo says:

And don’t get me started on Arshavin’s agent.

    The ignorant money-grabbing little spunkbag.

  463. Bud says:

Nothing wrong with being a Middle Class Tory !!!

  464. Chipo says:

I didn’t say middle class I said middle England. Different breed.

  465. irishgunner says:

Bud – Yeah United have done theirs and not a word from our side….I’m more curious to see if Eduardo is in the squad more than anything

  466. A says:

yeah irish – the eduardo situation is confusing, i wonder if he’ll play for the reserves next week

  467. Bud says:

Anyone know why he was not in the squad Sunday. I also noted he was not in the seats behind the dugout with the likes of Rosicky and Ramsey…. he usally is ???

  468. Pedro says:

That article from the mail made me feel the same embarrassment I’d feel if my mum came into the pub and told my friends off for taking the piss out of me… claiming they were only jealous because I was special.

I was so totally embarrassed when she did that last week…

  469. irishgunner says:

He’s not mentioned as injured though or it was never said if he had a setback, he just seemed to have disappeared…

  470. Bud says:

Wankers on Sky have now just said “we’ll here from Arsene Wenger on the Evening Update”… why so late????

  471. irishgunner says:

    Pedro

  472. A says:

i’m surprised the mail havn’t gone so far as to brand everyone at the club politically correct homosexual asylum seeking immigrant gypsies, seeing as they cause every problem in the uk these days….

  473. kelsey says:

I would like to put another angle on our striking options.None of us,I believe, know the true extent to Eduardo’s fitness, and it has already been explained that after such a long absence through injury, little niggling injuries are bound to happen. However we have a huge game tomorrow and if Eduardo is not in the squad, perhaps his injury is worse than first thought, because there is no doubt that he is our most clinical striker, and if more or less fit,it wouldn’t be the first time Wenger had played someone for at least part of a game, who could possibly change the result.I think Wenger will decide during the summer that he would be better to offload Ade and bedntner and replace them with one out and out striker, but that again depends on Walcott progressing, and playing more central, and the fitness of Eduardo and even Rosicky.i think vela will be loaned out again, otherwise he would have featured more in the last couple of months.he’s fit,but to the boss obviously not ready yet.Ramsey and Wilshere have already been put to bed for the season,so our options in a depleted squad,at least for the time being are even less than at this time last year. With Gallas missing,Wenger really needs a master plan for tomorrow and the rest of the season.Let’s hope he takes heed.

  474. A says:

i don’t think there’s a chance of bendtner going kelsey, wenger rates him very very highly.

vela will be ready by the start of next season and will play a much bigger part in the first team, he’s far too good to be loaned out, the reason he hasn’t featured much is because of the players ahead of him, and with ade gone and his being better adapted to the club and being in england he’ll get more playing time next season.

  475. Geoff says:

Racist cunt chipo? You’re not having a go at me now are you!

  476. Bud says:

Why the fuck do Sky have some cunt talking about Wengers Press conference on the blower…… what can they not get a fucking camera up there…. Utd’s was live????

Shit fucking Manc loving station !!!!

  477. A says:

although i hate sky bud, to be fair to them it’ll be the fact that they don’t have the rights to press conferences, it’ll be only on arsenal tv online, assuming they broadcast it live??

  478. High Power Mutant says:

    Really good post today Geoff…
However, I don’t think the refs in europe are necessarily better than the english ones. Man, I was mad last year against Liverpool, Peter Vink and Frojdfelt are the Webbs and Rileys of europe

  479. Bud says:

A – No mate…. it is a UEFA press conference that they are contractually obliged to do….. same as Utd and theirs was live !

The Arsenal Website one will be tomorrow

  480. Geoff says:

True High Power but at least he was mugged, Webb and Riley you know will do it, they are cheating cunts.

  481. Stu says:

Albiol has said he is open to a move to the EPL. Liverpool will be front runners because of their soanish influence but they already have 3 defenders for CB and Hyypia.
Hopefully that will swing in our favour. He is a top defender and still only 23. 10-15m is nothing.

  482. A says:

ah ok bud – that’s a bit of a pisstake then! though wouldn’t the club still own the british tv rights to it’s own press conference even if they’re contractually obliged to participate in it? though even then if that was the case it’s really irritating that it isn’t on arsenal tv so i guess it wouldn’t be?? very annoying either way!!

  483. Chipo says:

Geoff you are neither racist nor a cunt. You may rest easy!

  484. A says:

i dunno stu – hyppia will leave in the summer, as will agger, so he could be a like for like replacement for agger. i’m actually really confident that we’ll sign a top centre back in the summer, no idea who though!

  485. Stu says:

Not normally a fan of Claridges but i hope he knows what he’s talking about here. I hope Ayling steps up into the first team in the next few seasons and stays there. I hate getting my hopes up about the youths and ten they just get sold without chances in the fisrt team.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2009/apr/28/arsenal-luke-ayling-scouting-report-steve-claridge

  486. irishgunner says:

Arsenal’s young Mexican striker Carlos Vela has travelled to Manchester ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League game after spending a day in quarantine due to fears over the swine flu outbreak.

Vela, 20, was told to stay away from training yesterday after a visit by some Mexican friends last week.

Mexico is the centre of the outbreak of the disease and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: “It looked to be a massive problem because we were asked yesterday to keep him at home and not get him to the training ground.

“Now he has the all-clear and today he was free again to attend training.”

Wenger added: “It was basically down to the fact he had visitors from Mexico, friends who came to visit him last week.”

  487. A says:

i’d describe it more as not making it than not getting their chance in the first team stu. I do really hope ayling will make it, and bartley, or maybe it’ll have to be one or the other.

the current kids must be the most talented as a whole group we’ve ever had, really think a fair few of them could make the step up.

hope the attendance on for the emirates leg of the youth cup final is good, annoying it’s the first leg at home though.

  488. Bud says:

A – No. It is all to do with the hordings you see behind them when they do the interview. It is all to do with the advertisers (i.e. Ford, Mastercar etc) and the money they pay, so in essence maximising advertising……. Geoff may correct me as he is the Marketing and Advertising King, but I am pretty certain I am right !

  489. Geoff says:

    Thanks Chipo!

  490. Geoff says:

Correct Bud, UEFA rule there. It’s the same in the ground and ticketing.

  491. irishgunner says:

So was there a press conference then??

  492. Bud says:

Damn, its quiet on here……. everyone commuting home I suppose???

  493. Bud says:

Yes Irish….. Sky had someone there and they linked up to him on the phone and through a crackly line they told us not alot !!!!!

  494. irishgunner says:

    Anything on Eduardo Bud??

  495. Bud says:

So Arsenal are binning Setanta then and are considering going back to online only…… we’re a big club…… my arse !!!!!!!

  496. Bud says:

Nothing – just about Vela and Swine Flu, how he has now travelled. As he is in the squad, I presume the mystery o the dissapearing Eduardo continues and he is again not in the squad !!!!

  497. A says:

really bud???? who said that?! setanta are a load of shite, but i don’t want to lose arsenal tv!

  498. Bud says:

Did you not get the email???

  499. irishgunner says:

:? Where is Eduardo, its odd the way they are saying nothing…

  500. Geoff says:

Where did you read that Bud?

  501. A says:

nope bud??! not got any email from arse.com today….

  502. Bud says:

They requested you do a survey and it was all VERY TRANSPARENTLY geared towards leaving Setanta and going online only with some amazing questions like..

Q: Would you be upset if we left Setanta

Q: WERE you satisfied with Setanta

Q: Would you pay for an Online Arsenal TV Channel

Q: How much would you be prepared to pay for an Arsenal Online TV chanel a)£3 to £5, b)£5 to £7, c) £7 to £10

    Those were actual questions !!!!

Jokers the lot of them !!!!

  503. A says:

maybe he’s just taking longer to build up his strength to 100% than expected irish, and as a result at his current level he just can’t make the squad ahead of vela?!

  504. choy says:

    what email?

  505. A says:

ah ok bud, yeah i remember that, did think it was weird, i thought it was a setanta survey rather than arsenal one necessarily?? some of the questions were “would you still subscribe to setanta if arsenal tv wasn’t on it”, to which i said no in no uncertain terms!

  506. irishgunner says:

A- Just strange that he’s not been mentioned at all

  507. A says:

yeah irish but the fact that there hasn’t been any mention makes me wonder whether it is just a case of his not making the squad, rather than any set back, as i don’t think they’d come out and say anything if that happened, but would if there was another injury?

  508. Geoff says:

They are so fucking greedy, they want to control everything, Arsenal online is just a fucking joke, even more AKB than Setanta Arsenal TV.

Perhaps I’ll approach Setanta and do Le Grove TV and say it as it is!

I expect they think Setanta are going tits up, they may have a point.

  509. irishgunner says:

Might be right on that “A”

  510. MARK GOONER says:

    EVENING GOONERS

ANYONE GOING TO THE ROCKET FOR GAME 2MOROW

  511. Bud says:

Geoff – Brother Paul said he has heard it on good authority they are on borrowed time and will be gone soon.

  512. Bud says:

DId anyone see Wengers 20 scond clip from his press confernce…… notice Man U (SKY) TV only took the bit where they asked him about Ferguson !!!

  513. kelsey says:

That’s the squad according to BBc and sky.

Arsenal (from): Almunia, Sagna, Toure, Silvestre, Gibbs, Nasri, Song, Denilson, Fabregas, Walcott, Adebayor, Fabianski, Djourou, Eduardo, Bendtner, Diaby, Vela, Ramsey, Eboue.

    Eduardo returns.

  514. irishgunner says:

So Eduardo is in the squad …. :?

  515. MARK GOONER says:

    NO TV CHANNEL
    what a load of bollocks

    how can it be

if we go back to just being online viewing figures will dissapear

i only pay that 12 quid to them cunts for arsenal tv

  516. Bud says:

19 names there, so one will drop out…. Gibbs did not train today?

  517. Bud says:

Suspect as not on Arsenal.com that they have made that list up from the ONLY fit players we have left in our squad….

  518. MARK GOONER says:

anyone see arshavins agents quotes in last 2 hours

  519. irishgunner says:

Read somewhere that Gibbs was very doubtful with an ankle injury but it was a poxy website so didn’t know whether to believe it or not

  520. Bud says:

That poxy place you saw it was probably Sky……. poxhole channel !!!!!

  521. A says:

they were a while ago mark, and from the daily mail, so should just be ignored and not spoken about by anyone!

  522. irishgunner says:

ha ha Bud it was here

    http://www.comeonboro.com/matches/080916161.php

Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs is a major doubt for the Champions League semi-final with Manchester United.

Gibbs is struggling with an ankle injury, while his likely replacement Mikael Silvestre is not certain to be involved either as he tries to shake off a back complaint.

  523. A says:

didn’t realise puyol isn’t fit to start, that weakens barca a fair bit.

chelsea going even more narrow than usual, three centre mids is nowhere near enough, mikel in for anelka!

  524. irishgunner says:

A – what are the teams??

  525. irishgunner says:

    Have them:
    1843: TEAMS Barcelona v Chelsea
Barcelona: Valdes, Alves, Pique, Marquez, Abidal, Toure, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Henry, Eto’o. Subs to follow.
Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Alex, Bosingwa, Lampard, Mikel, Ballack, Essien, Malouda, Drogba. Subs to follow.

  526. Bud says:

I prefer Setanta Sports News Channel – Just nipped accross there and showing Arsenal Training yesterday, Eduardo leading a mild Trot and Rosicky stretching behind Wenger…

  527. A says:

yeah sorry irish, was checking on my food! anyone know the subs yet? did puyol even make the bench??

  528. A says:

not watched it except for when it was very first released bud, thought it was attrocious then but was a while ago – however their punditry and coverage of games and highlights etc is the worst i’ve ever seen from any channel in any sport, but burley by far the worst commentator on the planet imo!!

  529. irishgunner says:

    1843: TEAMS Barcelona v Chelsea
Barcelona: Valdes, Alves, Pique, Marquez, Abidal, Toure, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Henry, Eto’o. Subs: Jorquera, Puyol, Gudjohnsen, Bojan, Keita, Silvinho, Hleb.
Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Alex, Bosingwa, Lampard, Mikel, Ballack, Essien, Malouda, Drogba. Subs: Hilario, Di Santo, Kalou, Belletti, Anelka, Mancienne, Stoch.

  530. A says:

    cheers irish

gudjohnson to come on and nab barca’s 5th

  531. irishgunner says:

They have Pat Dolan on Setanta – tells me exactly what I need to know about Sellotanta Sports

  532. choy says:

    mikel, essien and ballack?

  533. Bud says:

    Better than Sky ManU

  534. patthegooner says:

To be honest, I am not that fussed where Arsenal TV ends up. I got it thrown in on Virgin Media for free (although free never means free)

It was pretty shit and was pure propaganda and spin. You used to get the season videos but had most of them anyway. Fuck knows who runs it but I think they fucked up the whole scheduling. There could have been a lot better content.

Was nice to watch the reserves and youths on occaision but then when it came to the big youth game in the Youth Cup Semi, they did not even have it on.

  535. A says:

yeah only reserve games are live pat, youths only highlights which is really annoying. it’s better than nothing though, watching old games is awesome at times, and programmes on legends

  536. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    BARCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BARCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BARCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BARCA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  537. Bud says:

HOw shit is the picture on the Barca game….

  538. Faceman says:

    barca are sick

  539. Bud says:

You know what, I think we would beat Barca !

  540. Bud says:

They give so much time on the ball that it would allow us to play our game…

  541. Faceman says:

arsenal v barca in rome is the game football deserves.

the 10v11 in paris 3 years ago was ruined with the sending off.

  542. Bud says:

And why the fuck have ITV got that Curb Cawling Cunt on for…… that cunt has never been near the champions league !!!!

  543. Bud says:

Watching Barca is as frustrating as watching Arsenal though…… SHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT….. oh no, we can get at least another 30 passes and dribbles inbefore we do that !!!

  544. Faceman says:

    iniesta is just amazing.

  545. A says:

chelsea are so so defensive, it’s the best attacking team in the world against total anti-football, please let barca get a couple in the second half!!

  546. Faceman says:

it would be just like chelski to nick a precious away goal after doing fuck all for 90 mins.

  547. A says:

watching barca is like seeing into the future – iniesta is nasri in a couple of years, xavi cesc, messi wilshere, etoo vela, and henry bendtner!!

  548. Faceman says:

    henry bendtner?

i would say vela will be more henry and luke freeman eto.

  549. Faceman says:

oh for vela to play tommorow

  550. Bud says:

    A – Why so negative ???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  551. A says:

nah faceman, both of them wrong side!

  552. Nigel's Winterburn says:

Steve Ryder really doesn’t enjoy football does he. Bet he was so jealous watching Lineker at the Masters

  553. Faceman says:

bendter is nothing like henry, no pace no skils.

    anyway……… we forgot about THEEEEEEO

  554. Bud says:

Get off the fence RAAAAYYYYYYYYYY…… you boring skid-stain !!!

  555. Ja_Gunner says:

    Chelsea’s tactics are a disgarace.

Is this how a “supposed big team” plays lol.

I mean I know you have to be cautios but damn they are playing like a team that derserves to be relegated.

  556. Faceman says:

they need an away goal for sure, barca WILL score at the bridge.

  557. Geoff says:

Sevillier what an ignorant prick that kerb crawling cunt Pleat is, how did he ever go from picking up 15 year old Toms to getting a job on ITV not knowing how to pronounce names.

He also thinks every Barca black player is Henry or Toure.

  558. Pat says:

    I’d like to see:

    Almunia
    Sagna Kolo JD Gibbs
    Theo Nasri Song Diaby
    Cesc
    Ade

tomorrow. Mostly cause Nasri always plays well in that role.

  559. A says:

oh yeah faceman, completely forgot about theo!! theo is henry, obviously, vela etoo, wilshere messi, coquelin alves too!!

  560. Geoff says:

    Yeah but Diaby doesn’t!

  561. Faceman says:

    GET THE FUCK IN

FEVER PITCH IS ON FILM 4 TONIGHT

  562. Faceman says:

who was talking about it the other day, was it you geoff?

fucking marvellous to get in the mood for tommorow night.

  563. Faceman says:

rather vela out wide left than diaby.

fucking hell that would be an awesome team to play at OT

  564. MARK GOONER says:

    wat a cunt drogba is

  565. Geoff says:

Yes Faceman, I did a clip on it the day of the Liverpool game, Vela out left yeah, I agree, won’t happen though.

  566. Geoff says:

Imaging paying £15mil for Boswinga, what a complete retarded cunt Kenyon is with Abromovich’s money eh! Anyway, I’m off, catch you all later.

  567. Ras_Def says:

Camp Nou fans are pretty much a bunch of ass holes, ah! Whistle all the time but not while their players stay on the ground… Damm i hope we win the CL, clean up these glory seeking suckers of Manure and Barca!

  568. Faceman says:

    laters geoffrey.

  569. nishanth says:

lansbury scores for scunthorpe again. He has been scoring a lot recently

  570. Faceman says:

    blatant penalty

  571. Stu says:

I assume everyone is watching the Barca match.
So much for Barca coasting it. Some even went as far as predicting a 5-2 win. Oh well…..

Both teams are a bunch of cheating, diving bastards. Neither deserve to play in the final.
Alves and Marquez diving all round the place and the chavs just generally being cunts.

  572. Stu says:

*oh and Malouda diving tons too.
Basically they are all cunts and bastards.

Now Hleb is coming on to dive some more and add to the cuntishness.

Did i mention they are cunts too?

  573. dennisdamenace says:

Does Phil ‘The Cunt’ Brown play for this lot???

  574. Stu says:

Dont know if he plays directly for them. But he must be employed by them for something.

  575. Ram says:

hlebs a wanker!!! bastard of a bench warmer

  576. A says:

yeah stu – i was absolutely certain that both teams would get a couple of goals minimum! though i never expected the supposed expert tactician hiddink to employ such genius tactics as simply copying the likes of stoke and hull and not caring about attacking at all, kicking and cheating everytime barca started anything!

both teams are cheats, alves is a disgrace, but chelsea just take it to another level! anti-football at it’s very worst

  577. Stu says:

Pique has played the most dangerous passes all night. Suprised by that considering their array of attacking talent.

  578. Stu says:

Alves is at it again. I dont normally wish ill on players but it would serve him right if he broke his leg and everyone ignored him.
He has spent more time rolling around on the ground and screaming that he has with the ball.

  579. Stu says:

Drogba soaking the camera man? Thats a suspension right there.

  580. Stu says:

I wonder what the odds were on 0-0? Must have been a long shot.

  581. choy says:

lol.. barca.. the best attacking team ?!?

  582. gazzap says:

0-0, man that was shite. not really a game of football was it. bloody hell, I’d rather have watched Stoke V WBA. and ITV are peddling it like it was some sort of amazing game. Chelsea played anti football for 90 minutes, and Barca were just very ordinary.

I suppose chelsea have to attack at home so at least maybe a game of football will break out.

  583. paul says:

Fuck me if i had to watch Chelsea every week i would top myself

  584. nishanth says:

For all those who hail BPL as the best in the world should think twice.I know it a result based game and all that matters is the final score and who wins. But it was just pathetic from chelsea. The gulf in class between both the teams was there for all to see.It was like arsenal vs blackburn 4 weeks back Where paul robinson was wasting time inspite of them being a goal down

  585. Stu says:

Fuck that! The second Hiddink realised he was to play Barca he settled for Penalties.

  586. Mandanda says:

So the chavs watched how manure played barca last season and done the same eh!
guess they got the same result! what a surprise…lets see the second leg would end the same way?!

  587. gazzap says:

I think Puyol is suspended and Marquez is innjured for SB. that will make the difference and the chavs will go through. we can beat the chavs as long as wenger doesn’t bottle it like he did at Wembley.

  588. choy says:

i see hleb’s still shite in front of goal.. no changes there!

  589. The goon says:

    so chelsea and us then

  590. nishanth says:

Hleb said he doesn’t care who he faces in the UCL final. It makes more sense now.Chelsea have a slightly better chance now.Chelsea can rest everyone this saturday whereas barca have a game against madrid plus their CB injuries to worry about.

  591. Stu says:

    Just thinking about it….

How the fuck has Bolo Zenden played for so many big clubs. He is a shite footballer.

  592. Faceman says:

    shit tactics from chelski

0-0 away from home is NOT a good result.

they think they can shut out barca for 180 mins?

NO chance, barca will get an away goal next week.

    chelsea did not.

    game over.

  593. nishanth says:

I can understand chelsea being cautious. But this was fucking ridiculous. But i thought united were worse last year

  594. A says:

yeah faceman, i still fancy barca – chelsea can’t play THAT defensively at home, and barca will get an away goal and hit them on the break.

  595. Nigel's Winterburn says:

Seeing that game I’d definitely prefer playing Barca in the final. Chelsea are so pragmatic it’s not true. Terrible to watch but those boys know how to follow orders! Was Messi actually playing in the second half?

  596. Faceman says:

    exactly my thinking, A

  597. Mandanda says:

chavs would play whichever way to get thru…they have no tradition and don’t care about entertaining.
barca, however, have to attack – they can only play that way – leaving them open to counter attacks.

  598. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

did anyone see that bus on the field

  599. kirby says:

chelsea are are bad advert for football cheating derby county sittin back tactics im sure cech kicked the ball more than some outfield players they have to come out at the bridge and barcelona will get an away goal.

  600. nishanth says:

Wouldn’t be surprised if united also follow a slightly negative pattern tomorrow.Fergie has said that he will be more than happy with a 1-0 victory.

  601. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

fucking hell no one saw that bus you couldn’t miss it,it was yellow

  602. Nigel's Winterburn says:

    Townsend is a knob. FACT.

  603. Nigel's Winterburn says:

    Townsend is a nob. FACT.

  604. nishanth says:

I guess time wasting and diving is a big when it comes to the UCL.No wonder we don’t do well in this competetion

  605. Nigel's Winterburn says:

He’s not a knob of butter. He is a penis.

  606. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

I can’t believe no one saw that bus,IT WAS YELLOW

  607. choy says:

    haha BBK!!

  608. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

    ha ha lollllllll

  609. paul says:

I think the tie should be decided on the best diver.Drogba v Alves

  610. choy says:

thats how you play for a 0-0 draw huh heheh!!!

  611. Pat says:

We have to avoid conceding in the first 20 minutes. I think we could win it then

  612. choy says:

pat .. i wouldn’t bet anything on that!!

  613. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

UNBELIEVABLE…….no one saw that bus IT WAS YELLOW F.F.S………..jheeeeez

  614. choy says:

I think UTD will go all out in the beginning.. a bit like milan away last season.

    Just need to defend well.

  615. Lovedup Loner says:

Well the chavs sure sucked all the football out of that game didnt they? Snide, dirty, underhand, negative anti-football playing twats!

Fuck dem anyways, got a real good feelin bout this and it aint just my new cashmere undies!

Think of me in the away end tomorrow, doin my best not to get my head kicked in when we score those goals….

    Evening

  616. kevin says:

If silvestre plays at lb we are screwed. I saw him play there against porto, we were destroyed.

  617. A says:

if gibbs is out i’d expect eboue right back sagna left, but again that’d be far from ideal!

  618. kevin says:

I think we are going to win 0-3. Everytime we are on sky with tyler commentating we produce a performance.

  619. Lovedup Loner says:

Gibbs will be fine, stop your whining… No time for any negative bullshite… Not now anyways….

  620. choy says:

we can’t depend on our defence.. we have to attack.. !!!

play to our strength .. which is attack.. if we sit back we will get raped!

we can’t play like the chavs… 10 men behind the ball!!

  621. Lovedup Loner says:

We can still defend well, even with the missing defenders, as long as EVERYONE does a job; tracking back, working hard etc…. Just follow Nasri’s lead, he’s been immense of late, especially defensively, IMO…

  622. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

at least you won’t see a fucking bus on the pitch

  623. Lovedup Loner says:

Wot? Not even a canary coloured one BBK?

  624. reggie57 says:

What a shit game that was,the chavs spent all that dough to see anti football, bored the fuck out of me.
Old dog breath was a disgrace 15 stone=weak pussy cunt.

  625. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

ha ha i like your work there L.L just because arsenal will be playing in yellow i dont think there bus will be on the field

  626. Lovedup Loner says:

    A;

    Dunno if you’re still about mate, but have you seen this;

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2009/apr/28/arsenal-luke-ayling-scouting-report-steve-claridge

Its about Ayling… Well Steve Claridge is impressed anyways!

  627. BOY BETTER KNOW says:

hey reggie did you see that bus on the pitch

  628. Stu says:

Ayling will be brilliant if he is given even half the chances that other non english ‘talent’ have been afforded.

  629. Lovedup Loner says:

    Reggie me ol’ mukka!

Hows thinga mate? Any better than before? Hope so buddy.

That game was effin awful werent it? Yet you can be sure as shite, the Terry and Lampard brown noses will be lappin it up tomorrow. Fuckin disgraceful load of anti-footballing wankness….

  630. Stu says:

Same goes for a lot of the reserves tho….. we have a great reserve team. They all understand the fuck out of eachother.

  631. Lovedup Loner says:

I hope that Bouldy gets a promotion sooner as well… Him as AW’s number 2, drilling the 1st team defense…. can ONLY be a good thing, IMO.

Ayling’s only 5′ 11″ tho! Needs to grow an inch or 3!!!

Stu; Now now fella, he WILL get a chance IF he’s good enough and I think it looks like he is….

  632. Stu says:

Lovedup, keep telling yourself that. ;)

5’11” isnt that noticable when he is next to the beast bartley. He is a great footballer and reader of th……well you read the article. He will fit in nicely. eg: Cannavaro is pretty short after all.

  633. A says:

yeah still here loner. Not usually a fan of claridge but it’s a good read. I do like ayling, seems much more intelligent than bartley, though it appears bartley’s physical attributes put him ahead of ayling with bartley being a regular for the reserves, and ayling only playing the last few games. Hopefully ayling will be a regular for the reserves next year and keep developing nicely.

I’m dubious as to whether he’ll ever be top top quality, but he could be another upson and a very good squad player.

  634. Stu says:

Agree about Bouldy too. He is doing wonders with the reserves. Getting praise off the man shity reserve manager saying that the youth cup team is the best he has seen for years. Bould must be doing something right.

Plus he knows the kids and which ones would do well in the first team, if necessary that is.

  635. A says:

bould is the u18 coach, banfield is the reserve coach. I’d imagine reserve coach will be bould’s next port of call

  636. Lovedup Loner says:

    A;

Jeeez mate, are there ANY players who you think will be top top quality??? :D

Stu; I don’t get what you are referring to mate? I can’t thin k of any young English players that have been fucked over by Wenger that i wish were still at the club…

    Enlighten me, Obi Wan… :)

  637. Stu says:

Fack this! Everyones out to get me!
Im off to watch desperate Housewives! Yes thats right!

  638. Lovedup Loner says:

A; I just think Bouldy has had a good apprenticeship and maybe should be looking to go up a level or 2. Maybe banfield is content to stay at his current level…

Anyway, either Bould or Keown for me!

Well, maybe they wont make it but, I hope Bartley AND Ayling do come on, would be a great combo, IMO.

  639. Lovedup Loner says:

    Stu;

Im just messin with ya, fella!!!!

I’ve been sooooo gutted in the past when young players havent made the grade, but then again, I usually hope/think/want em all to end up in our 1st team….

I know its not really a good barometer, but the fact we are in the Yute Cup final for the 1st time in 8 years must be a pretty good indicator we have some good kids???

  640. Lovedup Loner says:

Anyways, the sooner i eff off to bed, the sooner it’ll be tomorrow and the game can actually happen!!!

    Laters…..

  641. A says:

of course loner, just not sure about either of the centre backs, though actually you never know with bartley, he certainly has the physical attributes, and ferdinand was never a genius!

out of the kids wilshere and coquelin i think will almost certainly be top top quality,

lansbury, merida, and gibbs could definitely be

JET, ayling, bartley and murphy a level below but just about still possible, but i’m doubtful as to whether it’ll happen. Though I still think they could well be good premiership players and very good squad players for as long as they’re willing to stick around not being regulars

out of the loanees i’d stick barazite and traore in the lansbury, merida group. JET very nearly in that group but I’m still unsure about whether he’ll ever have a best position or what it’ll be!!

  642. A says:

i think they’re a quality combo loner, and they’ll end up as very good players in our squad, but i don’t think they’ll ever be mentioned along with the top defenders in the world, which is what we need imo

  643. Lovedup Loner says:

    A;

I think there will be a surprise or 2 with the kids. A few that wont make it we think will and vice versa…

I think lansbury could well do a Gibbs and force his way into the team sooner rather than later.

We’ll see, and as you say, i just hope they all are patient enough and that they get a decent chance too.

    Nite fella

  644. A says:

yeah i agree – i was thinking about lansbury too – and his playing at right back a bit, i wonder if he could end up doing a gibbs in that way as well, would be quality!!

    nite loner

  645. reggie57 says:

BBK I saw a big fuck off yellow bus
with 1 driver and 10 robbers on there.

  646. reggie57 says:

    Loner
Im alright mate, nothing doing yet.

  647. reggie57 says:

Oh yeah A Ayling is gonna be the dogs bollocks just you wait and see.

  648. Luke Ayling is 1.84 not 1.80 has stated by S. Claridge.

@ A, it is true that Arsenal are struggling to find a suitable position JET, he is just like diaby, same strengths [fantastic footwork, power and height] and same weaknesses [poor decision making, passing when to dribble and dribble when to pass plus poor concentration]. check this out http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A47224316

  649. Stu says:

Thats a very interesting rad there Supergunner. I hope its just the author that doesnt know the names otherwise the whole article is compromised. Wiltshire is easy to distinguish from Wilshere imo. And Landsbury, although a small mistake, is still a mistake.

Also, how would someone working with 13/14 ear olds know so much about the first team.

Anyway, i hope they all come through. I dont know much about Lansbury but i like him. His drive from midfield, his goals, leadership etc etc. I’ve heard he is in the Gerrard mould and we could do with some of that explosiveness.

From just what i hear i like Ayling, Lansbury and Murphy. As i said i dont know a lot about them but an all english spine trained by Wengers methods would be very nice indeed.

  650. southcoastGooner says:

Guss hiddink is a lying bastad..and a fat dutch one asweell. attack….bollocks.

  651. Stu says:

SouthCoast, you hardly expect someone associated with the chavs to be honest.

  652. Ja_Gunner says:

I think Barca still has an advantage…….Chelsea cant just sit back like they did.

The only prob for Barca is the defenders.

But Abidal can play centre back and Sylvinho can play left back.

  653. goonermichael says:

The chavs are playing for penalties

  654. Ja_Gunner says:

Well if Gibbs is out..then I would play

    …………..Al………………

    Eboue…….Kolo….Djoru….Sagna

    Walcott…..Cesc…..Song….Nasri

    …………Diaby……………..

    ………………Ade…………

  655. The Turk says:

I was going to post earlier on but I fell asleep after BBK made the “parking the yellow bus” joke for the 397th time.
We will lose tomorrow but win the tie.

  656. Jay says:

I can’t believe how Chelsea played, that was the worst…

i had to fast forward most of the game….ridiculious..

and Stu i did predict a few goals..
if both teams played football that is..

  657. Jay says:

TT – bbk bus joke did get old. but that wasnt a bus. that was a 747.

  658. PDT says:

Read the post late, Geoff, but this is one of the greats!

Our current crop of players should put 10% of their wages into a fund for our “old” players. Hillier should profit from the club that he helped build.

Alternatively, we need to play a couple of benefit matches every season for old players who have fallen on difficult times.

  659. PDT says:

Hi Jay, what did you think of the chavs match? Boring as hell!

  660. PDT says:

Maybe this is a style of play that we need to learn.

  661. Jay says:

PDT – thought it was like alion toying with a porcupine… u know teh lion will kill it, but couldn’t do fuck all cos of the spikes… lol

but i must dissagree with u there. no no no we mustn’t play like this. if anything we should just be more clinical…

Fearless PFT, we need to Install Fear into opponents and be fearless. Pace, skill, technique, flair. therse will be our weapons!

  662. Jay says:

BTW hi lol. Im at work its so busy this is good it will make the match come quicker

  663. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Anyone who @ the moment isn’t nervous, anxious, can’t wait, etc, etc………must be asleep  Chamoneeeeeeeee!!!

  664. gnarleygeorge9 says:

…..then again I was dreaming about the game like I was delerious last night. It was horrible, I couldn’t see the game & couldn’t get a score. What is happening to me. This shouldn’t be happening to me. Old Cow Paddock is 14,000 miles away & I am feeling nervous about something that is about as far away from me as England are from winning back The Ashes in cricket.

Off now, but “I’ll be back”.

  665. iceman says:

    I’m thinking a draw….but a high score one….that would do me perfectly…2-2 anyone?

  666. PDT says:

iceman, would be much easier on my heart if we got a 2 goal lead out of this one.

Don’t forget we have 90 minutes against Pompey praying that no one gets injured! I would be much happier if didn’t have to worry about injuries.

  667. PDT says:

    gg9, nothing a stiff drink wouldn’t settle.

Half a bottle of fire water and in bed by 9 so that I can get up at 2:30 for the game!

  668. gnarleygeorge9 says:

If Ade is ever going to play he best game ever, I hope it is this one. If he scores a brace in a 0-3 win, he will be forever feted as an Arsenal hero as far as I’m concerned. Cesc will certainly be up for it. Victory is so close I can almost taste it :P

  669. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    *his

  670. iceman says:

That makes 2 of us Gnarley….
    Taste’s sweet ;)

PDT in bed by 9??? You for real? The only way I could do that if I was passed out from the juice. In which case I’d miss the clash coz I wouldn’t wake up for another couple hours.

    Man I can’t wait………………..
    Manure……..your time has come…….
    Chamoneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Arsenal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  671. Jay says:

    Hey all Eastern Timers lol..

I can’t wait either. I think i will go gym, run like a mofo – then hammer a few drinks down to crash and wake up @ 4:30!!!

This…game..will be immense. No matter what happens.
its good to have a more nuetral reff as well!

  672. Jay says:

    GG – Ice – PDT –
quick question… would any one have Cech over Almunia in goals 2nite :D

  673. kelsey says:

    Good Morning,

What a way to wake up to read the twunt say this:

“Stan Collymore said last night had it been Arsenal playing Barca last night they would have left the Nou Camp at least 3 nil down!!”

  674. nishanth says:

Stan collymore can go fuck himself

  675. iceman says:

    Jay

I think alot of us take Al for granted.

I’m pretty sure we would have been looking forward to one final right now in May had he played at Wembley.

Sure he’s not world class but he has gotten better over the past few seasons.

Nothing against Fabianksi his time will come.

So to answer your question I’d pick Al for now…(he needs to make up for 06….this is his chance)…

Cech’s not been the same since he got his skull done…

  676. Jay says:

Thats my point.. we’ve missed him big time.. :|

  677. iceman says:

I know we can bag a couple goals.
Just need to keep it tight at the back.
Toure & co. need to be at the top of their games.
    We need this…………

  678. kelsey says:

I stayed up and watched the match last night, and allowing for the fact that all semi finals have naturally so much at stake, the game was just a physical battle with players from both sides intent on getting each other booked.Chelsea did their job admirably, but 0-0 doesn’t give them the advantage most think they have. They actually have a poorer goals conceded record at home in the last few months, but having said that,if we are to go through i would rather play Barca anytime.

So on today and we go into the game as underdogs and with a depleted defence.I would take a draw of any description tonight,1-1 being preferable,if we lose concentration for a period of time, the game could be over tonight.on the other hand if either Ade or Bedntner perform half as well as their continous quotes in the tabloids tell us , we have a real chance.Wenger must pick a team with more thought than ever this season.is Eduardo our wild card for tonight.I am covering my bets as the game is hard to predict, but the valium will be on hand

  679. Jay says:

Iceman – we deserve this :)

  680. Jay says:

Will it be ok to drink during the game then go to work drunk when we win>?

  681. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    Kelsey

In the same time during the barca game, Stan Collymore would have downed a dozen stiff drinks; nosed down about a kilometre of “devils dandruff”; & downed his girlfriend with a right hook.

  682. gnarleygeorge9 says:

….anyway what would stan know he has never played in a CL semi ;)

  683. iceman says:

It’ll be ok to go to work half naked if we win Jay.
    Trust me.

    Yes Kelsey, agreed…..
Team selection needs to be spot on…..
The first 11 need to give it their ALL!!!
I don’t know about Eduardo, wish AW would highlight what’s is actually going on with him.

Strangely, I have a very good feeling about tonight.
    I just do.

  684. Jay says:

the Iceman commeth with the comment lol

  685. goonermichael says:

Collymore is a cunt and deserves a fucking kicking the wanker. Did he actually say that? What an idiot. Chelsea needed the away goal they will have to go for it at home and won’t be able to put 10 behind the ball.

  686. kelsey says:

I think part of the package to get on Talkshite is to be be made redundant from all the decent radio stations,if in fact there are any,and be as anti Arsenal as possible.Any respect i has for Wrighty went out of the window since he joined them.It shows you that the average english footballer regardless of what they earn haven’t got much upstairs.

  687. Jay says:

    Striking options!!
    Dudu/Ade/VP/Benddy – VS – Roon/Tev/Berb/CR

    Creative options in Mid!!
    Walcott/Cesc/Nasri – VS – United’s Midis so boring

SONG to Hold —————-350 yr old player

    Unknown Back 4??————Who cares…

HP Baxter from Scooter VS the Stick Spider..

    Good————–VS——————-Evil

    Take your pick!

  688. dennisdamenace says:

Stan Collymore is a woman beating coke head, how the fuck can someone like him get a job on a radio station??

The fucking retard did nothing in the game, so what gives him the right to comment on any level of football.

In fact i’d go as far as to say that the best part of Stan Collymore ran down his mother’s leg!

  689. Big Raddy says:

I ma really fearful of the match tonight. Not the teams performance but my own ! I don’t know if the old ticker will take the tension. Can I actually sit watching for the whole 90 minutes?

Even allowing for a bucket full if Tuborg/Perini, I am going to be up and down like the proverbial whore’s drawers.

It will be a murderous 2 hours(15 mins Fergie Extra-time) in the Big Raddy household. And if the Mrs says “It’s only a game” there will be ABH in CPH !

  690. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Stan probably has a fair bit, upstairs, like a key of nose candy; a box of Wild Turkey; an ounce of Mullumbimbi Madness (wacki backi) stored in his attic  Narcotic basket cases never change their spots.

  691. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    DDM

    Chamoneeee to that

  692. Big Raddy says:

    DDM !!!

  693. Geoff says:

Morning all, so what do we do until 7.45 tonight eh!

  694. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    BR

The 2006 Final is all coming back now. Once Sol scored, the remainder went so slow. That game was real agony for me. I just don’t enjoy the pressure coz I can’t relax ;)

  695. gnarleygeorge9 says:

I don’t know Geoff, its starting to get to me now, & I’m 14,000 miles away ;)

  696. Big Raddy says:

    GG,

There will be no enjoyment tonight unless we go 2 up. I am like that guy in Fever Pitch watching the Dippers game – standing by the door saying “that’s it, I am going out” …..

  697. Jay says:

morning Geoff. so these are the moments we wish to put our selves in. I must admit i feel more alive today than i normally do ;)

  698. iceman says:

I am going to be up and down like the proverbial whore’s drawers.

    LOL!!!!

BR….just for that comment we’ll take it tonight ;)

  699. Jay says:

    BR i love that scene..lol

  700. iceman says:

We need to start the game with no fear.
Give manure no respect. Coz they’re cunts and also on our day we can play them off the park. Fact.

  701. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Has anyone seen Ades interview on Soccernet.com. He speaks well, & I reckon he is going to do something special in this leg.

  702. Goonerman says:

I must admit I did not expect Hiddink to set up Chelsea so defensively last night; also lots of cynical fouls which he probably introducedto their play.

  703. Geoff says:

We can spend the day speculating, and we will, but at 7.45 tonight they will be on their own, I will be drinking beer and the destiny of our beloved club will begin to be known!

  704. MARK GOONER says:

    The time has come
    make or break
    heaven or hell
    djourou or mikael
anyone going to the ROCKET 2nite
nerves have seriosly started to kick in
need a goal 0-0 is bad result away from home, thats why barcelona are still favourites as they know that if they score 1 chelsea have to beat them.

  705. Geoff says:

    New post!

  706. nishanth says:

Geoff I am hoping it will be one hell of a post from you 2day.COME ON ARSENAL

  707. ethangunner says:

    i second that Geoff .

and be prepared for what you all will learn …

because i know what a betting man would be putting money on …

id rather linger in the halls of reality ..
we are at old trafford and we are down on defense.
Our strikers are 2nd rate by comparison .
and if wenger plays ade , may god have mercy on his soul !

and without AA , it will take a mammoth effort
    to kill the giant .
