Shaun Wright, Wright, Wright, did us a favour last night!

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Well at least one member of the Wright family is still working on our behalf, a solid display last night saw the gap between us and Villa close to 3 points, that can turn round in one game, and we have a better goal difference, what a difference a week can be in football, one minute it’s 8 points and the next it’s 3.

We know what that feels like as it happened to us last season, as soon as the mancs got behind us, we collapsed, and I think that will happen to Villa, he’s already flown his team to Dubai, where I hear he’ll bury his head in the sand, good, let’s hope the others start to drop points too, maybe we can climb the table a bit and get third or even second spot.

I know we only beat West Brom, but I don’t think there are any easy games, well except Chelsea that is, West Brom gave a good account of themselves at the Grove on the first day of the season, so 3-1 away was a good result. belief is a big thing, just as losing confidence is and I feel a big swing is now on the cards.

Cesc says he’ll leave if Wenger goes, that’s great Cesc, thanks for that, it’s comforting to know you don’t feel the same way about the club and the fans who pay your salary, as for those who say they will consider their future if we don’t qualify for Champions league football, don’t forget who’s fault that would be, yours and the managers, being in 5th place isn’t a plane crash, it isn’t some strange disease that befell us, it was poor selection and poor play, so consider the people that pay the money before you think about running away.

Theo wants to return against Burnley on Sunday and that would spell the end for Eboue on the wing, so don’t hold your breath and Theo think about another position, that one’s taken by you know who’s favourite.

It will be good though to think when we play ManU in the semis we could have a bench of Cesc, Adebayor, Walcott, Rosicky, Eduardo, Kolo and Fabianski, now that’s a mouth watering prospect, don’t you think?

Okay so a long wait with no football, then the FA cup and Roma in the space of 3 days, that’s why I expect a weakened side in the FA cup and that would be a real shame, because against Burnley, that could be a big mistake.

Have a great day today, the gap closes, we are up your arse bjork, be afraid, be very afraid.

“I have never allowed anyone to question my commitment to this club, in the good and in the bad times, that has not changed in my mind,” he said.

“You have told me I am on their wanted list, I do not know if that is true or not.

“It is certainly not true because they have a very good manager in Mark Hughes. He is doing a good job. They have to keep confidence in him.

“On my side, I am contracted [with Arsenal] until 2011 and until 2011 I do not envisage to go anywhere else.”

“I hope his future will last longer than mine because I think he can still be here in 10 years,” said Wenger.

“He should be one of the bases of this club. I think the Club should be built around personalities like Cesc and that’s why I hope he will still be here.

“He was born in 1987 and he is 22 years old in 2009 and at 32 he will still play.”

i just think its type of system we play because manu dont dm player, delison is good put i dont think it help our acualy clichy is so out form has made alot of mistakes sagna has been solid as good going forword but fufilling defensive dities but clichy has been one arsenls worst players this year,i thing he is needs a rest give gibbs a run out or play silvestor

  3. Stu

Silvestre is injured and shit anyway so he should just fuck off.

Re Denilson, he is a decent player atm but has made a lot of costly defensive mistakes. He is still learning and will hopefully get a lot better. But for now hes al we have. Its either him or Song so….

  4. Big Raddy

Thanks TG. Good to see AW trash these silly stories.

QOS. My, you are feisty today !! No alcohol for a year can do that to you….

I rarely agree with Franchise, but you cannot argue with his point that Denilson is not fit to tie Makalele’s boots. Sure, he may become a great player, but he isn’t yet.

  5. Queen of Suburbia

That wasn’t what I said though Raddy. I basically said that effective players don’t need to beat 8 players and overhead kick the ball into the net to be classed as effective and cited the example of Makalele as such a player.

It isn’t fair to compare Denilson to him because you might as well say that Vela isn’t as good as Maradona!

But compared to his DM peers in the Premiership right now. Our Denilson is doing fantastically well. I don’t see whats wrong with recognising that!

  6. leon

    stu

yes delinson had made some mistakes, erlier in the season but he has improved alot the full backs should helping to close down doing there defensive dities too and quite frackly what has happend to clichy dont know because has made quite a few howlers its team effort and he has been nowere this season

  7. Stu

They dont really need a dm because their defenders are actually capable of defending everything. They keep the ball and use it so effectively that the oppo rarely attack hence no need for a DM. ALso their team (bar the forwards) all defend as a unit, not individually.

  8. Nil

    QoS,

Could you link to where you got those stats from? I know it’s from the Guardian, but I can’t find it. Thanks!

  9. A

yeah stu, i’d say it has alot to do with their team defending as a whole. Their midfield is full of well rounded midfielders, none of them are necessarily attacking midfielders, whereas we have the likes of nasri, arshavin, theo, and cesc to a lesser degree are much more attacking mids than defensive, which is why they need a defensive mid behind them

  10. Trinidad_G

Theo has been out since November, and they didn’t find the time to get a new contract sorted between November and March ….

  11. leon

    stu

i would say that very mush for clichy, but gallas, toure and sagna have been defending very well we have alot clean sheets lately and gallas toure have been extremly well but not at the start but i think clichy has been the weak part of the back 4

  12. Trinidad_G

    I’d like to see ….

    …………Almunia…………..
    Sagna….Toure…Gallas….Clichy
    ………Cesc…..Denilson…….
    …Arshavin….Nasri…….RVP…
    ………….Eduardo………….

    Theo, Rosicky, Ade on bench.

  13. Trinidad_G

The primary job of our defenders is to defend, even our full backs. Let our midfielders cross the ball instead of hoping that one of our fullbacks get it right someday.

  14. leon

i think of all our full bard backs clichy has been very poore evon though sagna have not going forward as much he always looks solid defending, clichy has alot of mistakes and i think its time to give gibbs more chances

    e

  15. A

our midfielders aren’t meant to cross the ball, they’re meant to drift inside and be playmakers creating the space for the fullbacks to overlap. That’s the way it’ll be unless we completely revamp the way we play, which we wont

  16. Stu

Clichy needs a rest imo. All that running and he is off form. He needs to get his head together and train harder on his crossing.

  17. A

team for the youth cup game –

    ————-shea————-

    eastmond–ayling–bartley–cruise

    ——–coquelin–frimpong——-

    watt———wilshere——-Emmanuel-Thomas

    ————-Sunu—————

  18. Stu

I like the look of that. I hear the CBs are top notch. Delighted Coquelin is playing in midfield and not right back. And Wilshere in his “future” position.

  19. Franchise

QoS if u still there. Moments in a game dont have to be only the offensive ones. Re Makalele I watched him on several occassions and sometimes u could tell the way he played that he was assigned personally to extinguish the threat of certain players and he normally did it perfectly.

I remember a game we played against chelsea at the bridge during mourinho’s era where he personally played henry out of a game. henry our main threat on the day as u know likes attacking from the left side makalele stuck to him like glue.

henry was made almost 100% ineffective and its not a lot of times u see that happen especially in a london derby.

Denilson is not yet on that level and i doubt he is that kind of player anyway but the stats have shown he is a handy player to us at the moment.

i dont really understand the formula the guardian used to get those final points but i can roughly assume that scoring goals and the no. of games played have helps towards achieving a high score

  20. Stu

Stats should be an avarage score. Not an accumulation because someone who played more matches will almost always have made more passes and interceptions etc etc.

  21. leon

i feel 4th palce position is in our hands realy i feel there is no dought if we can keep winnig most our games then we will fine because villa will drop points but we cant afford to drop nay more points. the burnly match is potential banana skill they will get our face and close use down i would play

    sangna gallas dj gibbs
    nasri delinson diaby vela
    nikki b rvp

and have aa,theo and edwardo on the bench

  22. Franchise

for next season i would sign a midfielder without a crock history to partner Cesc. Diaby and Denilson arent exactly bad subs. its a shame coquelin is only 17ish i wld have loved to see him promoted to the 1st team

  23. Stu

We should buy either an industrias DM or a sitter who will hold their position and know when and where to be.

Song represents neither and Denilson is nowhere near either imo. But he will get there eventually.

  24. Stu

Bring in 1 top class player for each position ie 3 players and get rid of the deadwood shit players. Silvestre, Song, EE (as a regular) etc etc. And release the kids that wont make it because giving so many of them contracts will obviously add up and its adding to an already over the top wage level.

  25. leon

    stu

i dont think we need dm player our full backs need conentrate on defending alot more, delinson is a very good sub player,in the past we have defended as aunit well enough we are defending alot better and only thing that might stop winning the champoins legue is the defending

  26. Stu

Well leon, if Denilson is a very god sub then who is the first choice DM then? Surely that means buying a new actual DM.

  27. Ja_gunner

Leon Ithink Nasri and Denilson will be rested..maybe even Sagna we need these three fresh for Roma.

    …………..Fab………….

    Eboue…….Djouoru…Gallas…..Gibbs

    Arshavin…..Diaby….Song…..Vela

    ………..Nick B….RVP………..

If we have a 2 goal lead, I would take RVP off …put Vela up top with Nick….Arshavin moves left…Walcott comes on right, maybe on 70 mins I take Bendt off and give Eduardo some mins.

We have to try to get the job done by half time so we canmake these changes to make sure Nick B and RVP are good for Roma.

  28. Franchise

    yeah stu

lets just call it a more defensive minded central midfield player to partner cesc

    a towering CB too

i really wouldnt mind hangeland of fulham

  29. leon

    stu

if they can defend as unit includin the full backs and return posesion more they dont need dm,but the way we play which very much attacking style the full backs tend bomb fowward which something i love maybe we need dmplayer, but i was saying in ideal world delinson is good sub but with our current squad he is

  30. Stu

I would actually go with Bendtner with any of Vela, Eduardo or Vela. The 2 lefties because he seems to have a better understanding with them or AA23 because they did so well against WBA.

  31. kenny smith

anyone watching the youth cup game tonight.some numpty was arguing with me a little while back saying that coquelin cant and doesnt play CM…. well he plays there tonight. watch him.. he is ace!!!!

Looking forward to seeing Jay, Jack, Sunu, and Emmanuel Frimpong i think is a good CM. strong as an ox!

I would also Sub Diaby for Ramsey….so that Diaby will be ready for Roma as well…

  33. Stu

A ball winner and a ball player is my ideal partnership in defence. Senderos is arguably our only proper ball winner and easily our best attacker of a ball in the air. Its against the quick, nippy strikers where he struggles but a quick partner (Toure) would imo solve that.

Obviously its not as simple as that but its a start.

  34. Ja_gunner

    For Roma

    ……………Al……………

    Sagna……Kolo….Gallas…..Clichy

    …….Denilson……Diaby………..

    Walcott………Nasri……..Bendter/Eduardo

    …………..RVP…………………

He may start with Eboue then bring on Theo later.

But the fact is with those two in combination, there left back should be run into the ground…their left back should be dead by the end of the game…whether its Risse or whoever.

BEndter did evrrything right on theleft hand side except score, maybe I would start Eduardo there and then bring on the physical presence of Nick when their right back is tired.

Or start with Nick then bring on Eduardo so he can pounce and finish the job.

  35. Stu

Liverpool have it too. Carragher and Agger(sometimes). Less so with Hyypia and Skrtel. You could say Chavski too with Terry and Carvalho or Alex.

But the diff between us and all of them is that both their CBs can do many things. Win and play the ball. Our CBs can win OR play the ball….well, Kolo can play a decent ball.

  36. Joaquin

definitely, i forgot about this, i am excited to watch the future in a high pressure game. excited for frimpong and coquelin in the heart of the park and sunu, thomas and wishire in the attack

  37. Stu

Haha i saw Setanta written in the corner and wondered…

Turns out i have that channel and am now watching it on tv.

  38. Stu

It looks like the kids are stronger than the first teamers. Most of them are properly filling their shirts. Maybe its only the first team thats banned from the gym.

  39. Stu

I had it on mute when Tim Sherbert came on. Thank god! Their whole “panel” are spurs related. All either ex players or crrent coaching staff. Biased or what!

  40. Stu

Just hope for a draw Pedro. Spuds wont want all 3 if they are to be relegted and there are still 9 games after that to catch Villa.

  41. A

yeah pedro, spuds at home, then utd and liverpool away, then everton at home,

really hope their not won in 7 turns into not won in 11!

  42. Stu

I dont know Paul. Young guns were saying that he lost form after the CC knockout and has been dropped back into the reserves for the rest of the season.

After such a promosing start to the season it would be tough to step backwards.

  43. A

all kids at that age go on and off the boil. After the initial novelty wears off where there’s loads of adrenaline every game there’s always a dip in form, he’ll be fine, next season will be his breakthrough year hopefully, though depends how many players in front of him!

  44. Pedro

I don’t think Jack is physically ready for the first team… he is a very underdeveloped 17 year old.

Rooney went off the boil for 2 years when he joined the mancs…

  45. Stu

Song has never been on the boil outside the africa. Its only ever for Cameroon that he shows glimpses of visa potential.

  46. A

i dunno pedro, i think he could still make an impact, but he is far from developed. Don’t see how he’ll play anything but the league cup for a while though. With arshavin, rosicky, nasri, theo, vela etc maybe after he scores the winning goal in the league cup final next year he’ll be loaned to a prem team second half of the season

  47. Pedro

A, not saying he can’t make an impact… just I doubt whether he could do it over a prolonged period?

  48. Lovedup Loner

    Yo!

Anyone seen that effin oh so predictable Daily mailbag story about ‘magic Arry Redknapp’? Fucking typical bullshizen I tell thee

  49. Stu

I never saw him in the reserves so i wouldnt know. I didnt even know he spent time in the reserves because if he did then surely he would have ben stopped short of the first team.

  50. leon

    paul

maybe your seeing something everybody else is not seeing because he seam slow, not very good passer does not looklike a midfielder or cenreal defence cover

  51. Lovedup Loner

    leon;

So you dont confine yourself to just slating the 1st team then?

How about the Ladies? I hear a few of em are well gash…

    Erm, sorry about that!

  52. Stu

LL, dont even try. The ladies always win something, usualy by a long way. They are all brilliant. Maybe even draft a few in to the mens team

  53. Lovedup Loner

    Irish;

Yep, the fellas a genius, I mean, the way he got em out of all the cups in 1 fell swoop….pure genius! AND, he only spent over £50 million in january, and lets not forget the £60 odd mill ramos splashed out too…

  54. Lovedup Loner

The talent is there, as far as Jack goes. he’s just havin a bit of a lull, IMO. Or he’s completely bobbins, as they say oooop North!

  55. A

yeah he did, he dominated every midfield and was exceptional there stu, made me have high hopes for him after one game where he scored a quality curler into the far corner!

  56. Lovedup Loner

Irish; Its just way too high brow intellectual for mere mortals like us to comprehend… we are not worthy! :D

  57. A

JET’s very left footed. was bartley that scored, JET was the one who did a very funny misjudged attempt at a flick in front of the front post!

little jack is pissing all over them second half!!

  58. Stu

I thought he would have been right footed because when he had the chance at the edge of the box he took ages as if he wasnt used to shooting with that foot.

  59. A

nah – just because he’s about 7 foot 7 and built like a brick shit house he takes longer than van persie to set himself for a shot

  60. A

    ah ok, apologies loner

gotta take advantage of our domination get a goal. Does it go to extra time or replay?

  61. Stu

I heard the next round game was supposed to be played before this saturday but dont know how that would work out so…..

  62. Stu

Only just noticed “Villa watch” in te sidebar up top. >>>>>>>^^^^^^^^>>>>>>>^^^^^^^
New feature of am i just blind?

  63. Lovedup Loner

    Stu;

Just noticed it me self fella.. Saying that, the amount of times of gone over their fixtures…looking for the possible fuck ups!

  64. Stu

Is it just me or does the spuds shirt look more and more like a plain white t-shirt with just a bit of dirt on the chest???

  65. Stu

Villa should easily drop enough points for us to comfortably overtake them. Especially given their own form recently.

  66. A

haha im not sure about that loner, he has done some very nice things, been made a tit of a couple times though!

the only players who will definitely make it from this are coquelin and wilshere.

JET has something about him but whether it’s just because he’s developed quicker than everyone else only time will tell. When he’s playing against men i doubt he’ll be able to dominate in the same way

eastmond definitely won’t make it though!!
