Gallas is out, Johan in and Wengers silence is deafening. Really?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So William Gallas is out tonight with an ankle injury a great shame because he arguably has been one of our better players, but young Johan Djourou is an able deputy and I’m comfortable that he will play well with Kolo and who knows, maybe it will work out and be next years starting line up, good luck Johan.

It emerged that after the Fulham game Arsene Wenger was so angry he let his team know by saying nothing, well that could be brilliant or it could be stupid and I’m not sure which yet. It’s like when you made an arse of yourself at a dinner party and the next day the wife ignores you, out of disgust, now sometimes you feel so bad, the silence is deafening but sometimes you feel you got away with it and keep your head down.

So I’m not sure which is right for the team, but I know I prefer it when my wife doesn’t talk to me!

Still showing no emotion, shows he has emotion, I’m sure he doesn’t like to see his team booed and I’m sure he is doing his best, you couldn’t fault the team selection, it was spot on, the team owe him a performance and I hope tonight is the night.

I would be feeling far worse if I were a Villa fan today, I know, it happened to us against Villa at Villa park in injury time so Bjork had it coming and hopefully they will begin to wobble now, the perfect time for us to go to the Hawthorns and paralyse them, Hawthorns and Baggies, blimey, sounds like wedgies! At least we have a tough name, the ‘Gunners’ and tonight I back the Arsenal to blow the wedgies away.

Tony Mowbray in his spare time.

Tony Mowbray in his spare time.

If we resist the urge to eat their black pudding, tripe and dripping sandwiches at half time we should win this one, I don’t think we’ll be seeing Homer tonight which is a relief and as a courtesy to you fine Grovers I won’t predict a score, if I was going to I would say 2 nil Arsenal, but I promised I wouldn’t, so I won’t.

I know I say this a lot, but tonight we really, really need all 3 points, a draw is no good so we should take a few chances, it’s too soon to see Theo back but I may use him as an impact sub, I also would rest the full backs and put Eboue and Gibbs in there, I think both are better crossers of the ball and I think their pace and aggression will be perfect for a night out like this, we are in the black country (it really is, so no comments please) and it won’t be easy, so hold your nerve boys and stick with the talent Arsene, they weren’t far away against Fulham, let them loose again, I think it will pay dividends.

Arsenal, you owe us a performance, go out there and repay the fans whilst I apologise to the wife without saying I’m sorry. You can do it, you have to do it, we are all behind you.

Have a great day Grovers, it could be a great day and a brilliant evening.

Some very pooe defending…JD was acrually going for the Offside trap..He should be moving towards GC..Rubbish

  2. Ja_Gunner

That was a dumb back pass by Ramsey, I know he is young …but why pass back from sofar,I would never do that.

  3. Trinidad_G

It’s funny … when Almunia makes a good save, the comentators actually think the shot missed, cause they don’t really expect that save from him. Like that one a few minutes ago, and I remember against Roma the guy said “and Almunia was nowhere near that one” .. even after the replays he didn’t want to admit that he was wrong. lol.

I don’t care how bad Sgna is going forward, defensively I believe he is the best in the world.

Overall, Maicon and Alves are better cause their attacking skill, but they can’t touch Sagna defensively.

  6. skandibird

I give up as well, every stream I try ‘locks’ – thanks for the great input – watching Gillette Sport Sky – seems to be the only place now for me (well apart from the old bed…..) oh, anyone think (like me) that once Eduardo comes back he’ll link up well with Arshavin???

  7. GunnerShabz

    Wrighty7

i think it is greek commentary

but i dont want the arsenal fans singing

    “only one arsene wenger”

we cant just let him off the hook after beating wba

  8. patthegooner

You cant tell he is not fully fit Pat, but there have been some moments of pure brilliance, and his freekick on Toure’s head was class.

  9. Seb

We’ve switched off, I think we will let at least one more in. It’s bullshit, why can’t we stay focussed for 90 minutes??

  10. Big Raddy

Good to see Merida, even if only for 10 minutes.

Clichy and Sagna should spend 4 hours every day learning how to cross a ball

  11. Hollywood Hotsauce

Wrighty you f*cker lol. I’ve searching arounding trying to find links and yor telling me that one’s been working all along…….not cool

  12. Pat

I read Wilshere suffered a severe loss of form. Hopefully he wasn’t just hype b/c he looked a great player in the CC and in preseason. On the other hand, I heard Merida was making big improvements.

  13. Stu

Arshavin is almost like Bergkamp in that he could stand in one small area for the whole game and still show his class. As long as he has enough energy to kick the ball then he is fit enough for me.

  14. patthegooner

I think Wilshire will make it, but at his age he needs games not bench time, so I think it is good he has gone back to the Reserves/Youth.

  15. Pat

Villa lucky that they don’t have to face Bellamy and Robinho tomorrow. I don’t think they’d win with them playing.

    Pressure is on them

  16. Stu

Wilsheres form dropped because of age and whenever he played for the reserves he was marked out of them by at least 2 oppo players. That would drain anyones confidence.

  17. Big Raddy

What happened to us in the last 20 mins. We played great for 25 and then went to sleep.

Could it have been the replacement of Eboue ?

  18. Franchise

    bendtner and arshavin are knackered

bendtner is not fit enough to play up front on his own

    and arshavin isnt match fit

  19. Pat

Its normal to slow down after taking a 2 goal lead. In the Spurs game, we conceded stupid goals b/c we didn’t play smart and everyone charged forward.

Entertaining, but costly in the end

  20. Seb

Christ this game really has contained some crap hasn’t it, from both sides

moments of brilliance but all too fleeting

  21. Stu

JD pays a lot better next to a cooler head. and noone comes cooler than Song. Im not even sure if he realises this is a match.

  22. Big Raddy

Very happy with that. We did a job, and our only lapse was a stupid mistake from EE for the goal.

    Well played boys.

MOM ? Between Nik, AA and Denilson

  23. Pat

3 pts. lads and the pressure is on Villa. Hope they watched this to scare them a bit.

For sure it’ll be on their minds. Come on City!

  24. GunnerShabz

    stu

    hahahah

    that made me laugh

cool head song, u have to give him credit to being calm under pressure

  25. Wonderboy

i know it’s been said before but i can see the beginnings of a fucking awesome squad happening here.

  26. skandibird

I’ve just managed 5 mins on the link Wrighty7, it’s a Russian TV channel; at least I got to watch something.
Good result, next game is a must win, keep the pressure on AV.

  27. gnarleygeorge9

BR about to go off to work. A result like this puts a spring in the old step for the rest of the day. Chamoneeeeee

  28. Nightman

    NI-CLASS BENT-ITAROUNDTHEKEEPER

Great match from the Dane…exhaustion started to set in late but he still managed a dangerous run late on…

Unlucky not to have the hat trick on 3 superb goals.

  29. Franchise

lets not ge carried away bout song’s performance which was still nothing spectacular. if we had reliable subs all season we would still be challenging for the title not potentially 20 points behind the leaders

  30. gnarleygeorge9

Come on City Come on City Come on City Come on City Come on CityCome on City Come on City Come on City Come on City

  31. patthegooner

    Right Come On MAN CITY

I am happy with that tonight. Thought we were pretty poor in the first half, and I still cant work out how we scored 3 goals in it, but when your luck is down, you take that with both hands.

The important thing was the result and hopefully we can take that on now and get on a bit of a winning run.

Thought Denilson was our best player tonight, Nic took his chances well, Arshavin stands out a mile for class, and I will give him some credit, following a shocking 1st half in Midfield, Song looked very reliable at CB, Well done Song, Like Eboue you get played out of position.

If Man City can do us a major favour tomorrow, I might start believing. We would never be that lucky though would we?

  32. Franchise

at this stage of the season i am only cocerned about 4th position and i believe villa are the ones we have to chase not the chavs or the bindppers. they can keep winning i dont really care

  33. nick

lets be honest song and eboue are decent enough defensive cover but they should not be in the team especially the positions they have but wenger picks the team so whos to blame but being a fickle fan after tonight his a great manager

  34. A

imo bendtner was fantastic, man of the match for me, closely followed by arshavin and denilson.

nasri was ok, as were the full backs though their crossing still leaves alot to be desired.

kolo played very well, gotta hope the injury isn’t anything too bad

djourou absolutely appalling first half, marginally better second half but still very poor

song poor first half, very solid second when at centre back

almunia was solid, did everything that was asked of him though bottled it a bit when injured as seemed like time to boot the ball

diaby usual mix of quality and shite, more quality than shite today though.

ramsey very poor in his brief cameo, showed why shouldn’t be starting games yet

  35. A

oh and eboue was mixture of shite and good, scared them with direct running which created couple of chances but more shite than goodness today, though unlucky not to score.

  36. ethangunner

    yes geoff

    your right

its tougher than i thought but here follow these steps it should make sense ..
PS : – got it from a help BBS the link at the very bottom ..

  37. David

Im relieved we started scoring….but we still havent addressed the missed chances infront of goal….how are we different from any championship team if we can finish our chances!

  38. Franchise

every year we seem to struggle btw the months feb-early april even in the unbeaten year i believe we had quite a few draws

wenger must try solving that problem. it has cost us quite a few titles

  39. Hollywood Hotsauce

Didnt like fans singing there’s only one Arsene Wenger at the end though. this season has been a spectacular fuck up from the le boss

  40. A

because championship teams don’t create the chances?! 3 goals out of 19 attempts is absolutely fine, though we should have scored more i agree.

  41. Keyser

Good win, if there was some scale of us converting chances, we’re definetly improving so should score a couple more next time.

Robinho, Bellamy and Wright-Phillips out for Man Citeh, how gay is that, they’ll all probably be availble for Man Citeh when tey reach the Emirates.

Bellamy made Laursen look ordinary when Villa played West Ham earlier in the season.

  42. David

Song was poor pretty much the whole game.

Cant believe the ball went through his legs on the wall and he didnt even flinch…at least Eboue moved to try and block it.

  43. Stu

Want my link David but the headline said that Pompey had won when it was the Chavs who won. That was the problem.

  44. David

    Franchise

My point exactly…..if we dont get sharpness against West Brom…when are we ever going to get it???

How many season’s under Wenger have we seen and our strikers waste chances!

  45. Keyser

Hollywood Hotsauce – Heh, they were there, they can sing what they like. Unless you felt left out at the game ?!

  46. A

every season david, including the invincibles year! today we were more efficient with 3 goals from 19 shots than both chelsea and liverpool.

    is annoying though, if we’d won 7-1 i would’ve won 5 grand!

  47. A

ah ok, that’s very annoying, though they should still create chances

i really like bojinov, and elano and ireland are still quality

  48. Stu

Isnt it just typical of the FA. SWP kicks Delap gets a 3game ban. Ronaldo has kicked out at a handful of players this season and its excused as “a bit of frustration” because he is supposedly the best player in the world.

  49. Keyser

Stu – Maybe, it seems like that was ages, I think he got a game added on for a frivolous appeal, so 4 sat out.

David – Yeah I know just disappointed, Villa are slow at the back Bellamy would’ve caused them problems.

  50. paul

Hollywood thats what supporters do,they get behind their team.Thats why they follow them all over the country

  51. patthegooner

    Please Please Please Man City

If they can win tomorrow, we play 24 hours earlier in the next round of fixtures, so we could get our 4th place back even if just for a day, and fuck that would put some pressure on Villa.

  52. Hollywood Hotsauce

Monsieur keyser they can sing what they…… my point is he’s going to think everything’s fine and dandy when it it isn’t

  53. Keyser

He had too long on the ball I think, Adebayor would’ve slotted it in easy. Sunderland didn’t play too badly if they’d got that goal it would’ve been a massive boost.

  54. Stu

In a way its a bit like our situation last season.

We could have gone 8 points clear if we beat Birmingham but we drew 2-2. Just like Villa yesterday. Hopefully we turn it around and then some.

  55. A

city have won their last 5 home games in the league.

they’ve not drawn a game at home this season, won 8, lost 5, so can’t imagine it’ll be a boring one!

come on please let this be an awesome week footbal wise, city to beat villa tomorrow, utd to lose too, youths to hammer spuds on thursday, then we can get into double figures against burnley

  56. Keyser

Hollywood Hotsauce – Wait wait wait, how do you know what he’s thinking ? I love the fact that they were singing that, just shows you how good our away support is and exactly that ‘Support’.

Maybe he’ll think, ‘look at the support, how awesome is that ? pretty shoddy season and they’re still singing their hearts out, I must do better’.

  57. A

wenger is going to think things are going well depending on results and league position, not what some fans think!

  58. Hollywood Hotsauce

or maybe he’ll think ‘poor chumps singing their hearts out, how cute. The kiddie philosophy must go on, we’ve won fuck all for 4years now but they’re still here, they don’t mind, as long as I can spin failure as potential and a few mant utd type results now and again, Its all good’

  59. patthegooner

I dont think there is any need to be really critical of anyone tonight,

We needed a win and we got one. Nic stood up to the plate sorted his 1st touch out and I for one am happy.

Sure the first half was not pretty, but arguably we played a lot better in the second half and could not score, yet whilst having Ebodenilsong on the field we scored 3,

I will take that and just hope that we build on it,

Arshavin looked real Class. He is already shoving it up people’s arses that said he would not be any good in the Premier League.

  60. leon

i think we needed this type of team we it was an open game so the strikers could get there confedence back i dont think for a second that we could done this aginst portmouth or stoke, before this but now we have got the confedence back we have some big players back i think we can go ona winning run. niiki b had an outstanding performance yes he can be wasteful i always thought he good player that puts his shift in,aa had very good from what heard but i just which could got a good stream

  61. reggie57

Just watching the game on ss
    did anyone notice the difference
    the away support was?might have
had something to do with the fans
being allowed to stand without getting hassled
    from our over eager stewards??

  62. A

makes a change im sure pedro!!

if kolo injury was just a tight calf muscle hopefully be fine. theo back for the next game, hope he gets a start. Surprised me arshavin played all 90, he looked exhausted! guess that might be why, getting his fitness up
