Add Almunia to the list then shall we?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

So now Arsene Wenger says Manuel Almunia doesn’t get the credit he deserves, what? And he also rates him along the same lines as Van Der Sar and Cech, okay boss, I think you need to lie down in a dark room and have a rest.

So now Almunia joins the list of Song, Eboue, Denilson, Bendtner, Gallas and Kolo Toure that I can remember Wenger saying does not get enough credit, well apart from their huge, huge salaries we also need to give them credit as well, you ungrateful bastards, give this young team credit.

Okay quick bitch out of the way and now I will get onto other things, the Mail has a picture of Micah Richards and he is saying all young boys want earrings and fast cars, wrong Micah, earrings are what girls want, boys want fast cars, now whilst I know the wearing of earrings is contentious so for this debate I’m going with fast cars for boys and earrings for girls.

Anyway I’m going off wanting Micah to join us of late, I’m siding with Chiellini, but we have a long wait ahead of us there. Today we play Fulham and today we really need to start scoring if we are to get into the top four, remember the start of the season when we played Fulham at Craven Cottage? I do, I was expecting 5 goals and a stonking win and we played like shit and lost 1 nil, that was the start of the rot, that was our first loss and the sign of bad things to come, so today we need to avenge that defeat and get our season back on track, today we need to win big to exorcise those demons.

Today believe it or not I’m going for a big win, 5 nil. I think today will see the team finally realising they need to start catching up or losing out, so maybe we’ll see some urgency.

We need a win today to get our champions league qualification back on track, I have a feeling Villa will lose, don’t know why but I do.

Keep the faith today Grovers and don’t forget to thank Manuel and give him the credit he deserves. And no being sarcastic either, he does deserve more credit, he doesn’t get enough and those clown stories are hurtful and unnecessary.

Leon , I agree with you about Vela & Theo , but the bottom line is that our overall level of talent (Eboue,Nik B, Denilson and Song) couled with piss poor attitudes(Adebayor in particular) is killing us.

We are paying for not underpinning the squad with a bit of experience.

  2. Keyser

Pedro – I’m saying it’s not that easy, why five years ago ? Why not last season ? or the year before. You’re saying nothings changed in the league.

Dumbing it down or over complicating it ? It’s a bit of both.

You’re writing off Theo as just another injury wouldn’t make a difference ? I’m saying his pace still offers us something different and even if we had him on the bench it’s be more than we’ve got now.

Vela’s not the same, but until we have both fit and available it’s hard to judge how good we’ll be.

  3. irishgunner

Leon – thats what I mean – a lack of sharpness in front of goal?? The performances have been good – not great but the defence has not left in any goals, we have created but none have gone in….

  4. gazzap

but its true in so far as you can sometimes play not that well have one chance and score it. at the moment we are getting a few decent chances and not scoring them. but I dont think we made that many chances today, not enough anyway.

  5. Pedro

Keyser, we had them both fit at the start of the year… when Carlos was playing really well, or does that not count?

I’m not saying having a fit Theo wouldn’t be great… I’m saying that his injury can hardly be used as an excuse for our current plight. He wasn’t integral, was he?

I thought it was obvious why I was comparing the team to 5 years ago? That was the last time we had a decent squad.

Why would I compare the squad to last year? It was too light then…

  6. Angelos

He was never overshadowed pedro he simply had half the time to impress. His statistics read 7 goals and 8 assists in his first season and then 8 goals and 7 assists in his second.

Now compare that to Hleb’s 4 goals 0 assists in his first season 3g 6a in his second and then 4g and 11a last term. Now add that up (remember this is giving Hleb an entire season over Tomas add to that all the while Rosicky’s been injured at Arsenal)

Hleb has 11 goals and 15 assists in three seasons
Rosicky has 15 goals and 15 assists in about 13 months.

I’m sorry but I didn’t even know those stats before posting…that’s ridiculous.
So yeah, i think to say he was overshadowed is a bit much Pedro.

  7. Pedro

Leon, I’m not saying Theo won’t become a world beater.

Capello said he was Englands best player the other day… so I know he’ll come good.

At the moment, he isn’t doing it… like you say, he is young.

  8. Pedro

    Different players Angelos.

I know it’s not right to place a value on a goal… but Rosicky would pop up with a goal when we’d be three up…

For all the hype surrounding his transfer, I don’t think he ever hit the heights expected.

Then again… how can you if you’re never fit?

  9. irishgunner

I know what the problem is …… the last time Arsenal scored at home in the league was against Bolton which was also the last match I attended – its the lack of me at the Emirates so if people are willing to fund a season ticket and flights each other weekend I am more than willing to take my Irish luck with me :)

  10. gazzap

yes irish even those 1-0s were just papering over the cracks. look at our league form stretching right back. when was the last time we scored more than 1 at home in the league? It was Man u start of November.
we have seen tons and tons of similar games since November.
is that due to losing cesc? or Ade? I honestly dont know but this current team is not good enough for PL football, and the results show that.

  11. Keyser

Pedro – I didn’t say he was integral did I, I’m just saying he’d make a difference, however much is a matter of an opinion.

Nah it’s not obvious, what happened the following season, did we just deteriorate ? Or has the standards of squad depth changed, 5 years ago United had one 30 million pound striker, now they’ve got 3.

Should that not matter ? If we had numerous players out of that squad would they walk the league ? Compete or would we face some of the same troubles ?!

Eeven then that was a team at almost it’s peak, do we identify Wenger as the sole reason that the same squad was not added to because everything else was kept the same or do you consider that the club, the Premiership and almost every other team in the league has moved on, progressed and many bettered themselves ?!

  12. Chipo

Geoff can i just say every time you predict a 4-0+ mauling, we play like shit and draw.

Can you just TRY next time to bite your tongue and predict 0-0, maybe then we might get a bloody result!

  13. Angelos

True, then compare the assists Pedro…seeing as that was Hleb’s forte along with his ball retention and ability to turn and wriggle out of tricky situations.

Rosicky at his less than stellar was smashing long range shots against Hamburg instead of running into bodies, tell me how many of our mids can do that bar maybe Nasri?
Scoring early braces against Liverpool to settle nerves. Again how many of our mids seem capable of that nowedays?
He was popping up with late winners against the likes of Wigan and Borough.

At the end of the day you only have to notice the change in tone when Wenger talks about Rosicky to realise how much he rates him. You’ll see when he comes back Pedro. He’s exactly what we need…a actual top class player.

  14. BOY BETTER KNOW

what a fucking shitty day and what a fucking shitty season i really cant wait till it is all over i have had enough of watching a bunch of cunts getting mugged off by these shit teams……..

  15. BOY BETTER KNOW

lets face they are all shit even van persie is starting to go back to his old ways time for a massive rethink wenger get some of these pricks out and bring in world class players that can actually score goals

  16. ethangunner

    keyser

he can make the difference in your eyes all he wants .. but you cannot hide behind the facts any longer that we are NOT top 4 material ..

does it have to hit you in the head like a couple of hooters ? hmmmmm .. hooters one American restaurant ive always wanted to go to !

but if you want to play the INJURY CARD like wenger has the past 2 seasons then go ahead ..

its what you get when you buy injury prone players .. and i dont see man U’s squad stretched like this .. or the chev’s …

so again bump us up again … after another humiliating draw .. but sooner or later when we are playing UEFA cup next season you might realize what others do now !!

lord be praised at the day when keyser see’s the light and burns the
‘ IN WENGER WE TRUST ‘ FLAG !

  17. Pedro

Jeez Keyser, way too many questions…

Many of them not really relevant.

ManU always pay over the odds to get players.

They’ve always bought quality… what difference does the end price make…

If we had the same squad now, there is every chance we’d walk the league… especially this year.

If that team was nearly at it’s peak, why didn’t we add to it instead of destroying it? Remember… we paid Thierry £200k a week in our first year at the emirates… were we really shaving that much cash off our wage bill to cut costs… did we really need to be that drastic in breaking up that team?

Clubs always progress… so if we’ve not progressed at the same rate, why is that?

You can make a million excuses as to why we’ve fallen away…and I know you try your best… but blaming ManU having 3 £30million strikers (Two I though, or have they bought Tevez?) or other teams progressing doesn’t rub with me.

For the last reason to count, it would mean we’d have to have stay static or regressed… which is what you must be suggesting?

  18. ethangunner

that we are NO LONGER top 4 material ..

    :)

    just got up !
cant sleep thou after that game ..
you lads in the UK ! its a restless night ahead trust me .. i just been there ! done that .. !

  19. Pat Dig

Thanks Irish , I have been trying to get in on the act on and off all night , I am wounded we were brutal again today.

  20. jraynor

yeahthey were shit today, and for pretty much allthis season for sure. I can’t aford to renew my Club level for next year as business has been badly hit. But do you know what, if I could I would, because I know this team (fully fit) is good enough. Guys, everybody needs to be a bit more postive here. Our best player is out, the new guy is shockingly unfit, our 30 goal a year striker has gone missing! Ro-sicky is badly missed, and yes he pisses on Hleb statistically. THEY ARE ON A LOW POINT… Shit hasppens. If it didn’t I’d be going again next year, but I’m not, and you know what, I hope they fucking win the leadge and I watch it on Sky HD in all its mega pixel glory. We are all bitterly disappointed this year, and we saythey are underperforming, but with Eboue, Song, Denilosn, Vela etc, are they? Name another team with these players sitting where we are, it wouldn’t happen. Some of out players are very VERY average, and we are holding in there, just. Wenger is at least right about the psychology. It must play on theor minds quite a bit, like when you are pissed and can’t get it up!

We still need to focus here, this is our team and we gotta backthem. Just 2-3 new players to relegate the YKW’s to the subs, and we’ll fly nex season. Sod’s law will definately fucking make sure of that!

  21. irishgunner

Keyser – i feel personally that the problem is that we are falling back into the group with Villa, Everton etc – I don’t think its terminal and I still am all for Wenger to be given a shot at changing it and getting us back up there but surely he has to look at tweaking his philosophies a bit – both on and off the pitch?

  22. Pat Dig

I just read an article on Setanta that rang true with me, why cant we keep the ground full ish for 90 mins?

What ever happens you are gonna queue to get out, it does fuck me off to see the ground empty especially when the outcome of the match is still in the balance…

  23. jraynor

I apologise for the extremely bad grammar. Too many beers and a paper cut on my typing finger. And the guys just sat back and fucking defended against me!

  24. irishgunner

Pat – Everyone is angry, I’m terribly annoyed but stayed off Le Grove during the match and for most the aftermath cos I get very wound up with Wenger is called the “C-word” I’m a bit odd like that LOL

BBK – you certainly do ha ha

  25. BOY BETTER KNOW

t.b.h if they were playing that game next week they still would not of scored there still playing sunderland by all accounts

  26. Pedro

Pat, the trains in London are fucked every weekend… it’s a real pain in the arse to get home… and quite frankly, the football has been so poor at home… people can’t be arsed with the 40 minute queue.

  27. Pat Dig

I know that Pedro , its bad enough that we only have 2 songs never mind the need to fuck off so early , by the way what is the reason for half time exodus , no offence to you intended:)

  28. gnarleygeorge9

I actually am a peace with what is going on; all this firing of blanks, coz it means that Wenger & his Board are running out, sorry, have run out of excuses for the downward spiral in the PL.

They can run from the demands of the fans, but they can not hide. At some point now, & even more so if no trophy is won by The Club (& the chances of winning a trophy are going to be hard if the injured players don’t return in time to make the difference)heads will roll.

…….& the fans are 100% ammuned to any blame. Its reasuring really. We, in particular us here on the true voice of concern, Le Grove, are right.

But ofcourse I would trade everything I have just said to be proven wrong, having won a Cup @ seasons end. Only time will tell. And for those in charge @ The Emirates, time is fast becoming their enemy.

  29. Keyser

Pedro – They’re all relevant, all your doing is throwing up even more possibilities for questions.

They’ve always been able to spend more than most other teams including us, do you expect every manager to be able to compete no matter what advantage another team has over yours or do you factor it in ?

Are you saying everything’s fair in the league ? Thats all it comes down to really ? Does every team start the season with an equal chance of winning the title ?! Is that what you think ?!

The last reason counts, one club can progress in one way another can go a different way.

  30. jraynor

I have never ever left before the whistle is blown, but also have noticed that Arsenal is a more family orientated club than many others. Maybe people with families leave to avoid the mental tube station crushes?
Also I’m in club level and its pretty obvious that not everyone in there is a true fan. FFS they dont even finish their drinks to get back in for the 2nd half. Too many shitty corpo’s IMO.

Manure doesn’t have the same problem, but then they live in Mans. What elese they gottsta do?

  31. Pedro

I don’t know Pat… I sit in club level, so I’m not sure what the drink service is like down stairs?

I always stay till the end… I think more people would if they sorted the transport networks…

  32. Keyser

ethangunner – I’m not hiding anywhere ethan, follow the conversation instead of just jumping in randomly just because you want to call me an AKB ?!

Why is that always the crux of your argument ? The one defining point ? You can’t seem to get beyond it or augment it in anyway way. It’s blah blah blah, Keyser’s an AKB.

  33. ethangunner

    GG9

the other teams above us are switched on , we cant catch them now .. not without a miracle forthcoming.

villa will win tonight … they have an easy game and we have drawn 8 of the past 12 games unbeaten ..

thats 16 points potentially dropped ..
and thats too many to ignore if you ask me ..

  34. Paulinho

I tell what though, Hleb may be a cunt but at least he provided creativity and was constantly involved and never went into hiding. He could raise the tempo of our game.

Nasri is doing none of that, he’s just pissing around latching onto the full backs doing a good job of doing feck all……

  35. Keyser

Pedro – Not really about fair, just wondering if you think everything’s fair and equal in the world of football, does every team have the same chance of winning the title ? Should one manager be compared to another like for like ?!

  36. jraynor

Lets just hope that Wenger can talk our best players into staying. They seem to like him, and maybe he can play the ‘we are good enough to win things’ card with them, cos I really don’t think we are far away. Manure ‘usually’ win by a goal, ‘usually’ in the last few minutes. Chavs the same. Guys its a close league and the shitty 0-0′s could be 1-0′s and we would be much higher than we are.

We are not quite, but nearly there. Acopule of players back,a couple new guys in, sell Eboue and Song for decent coffee instead of the shit they sell, and hey, we’ll win, easy. I’d bet on it!

  37. ethangunner

    key

stop defending the ‘average’ and get with the program then ..

its always about IF THIS or IF THAT with you ..
id prefer to deal with what really has transpired.
and with whats really going on ….

the reason you appear to be an AKB is that you faithfully use all the wengerism’s under the sun to defend whats transpired …

  38. jraynor

Paulinho. Give the boy a chance. He just got here! Looks plenty good as Hleb to me. God, peeps got short memo’s. Seem to remember how Hleb just did all the tricks but rarely had an end product. Didn’t he start the Fucking shoot thing?

  39. Keyser

ethangunner – What program ? Seriously what are you on about ? Why am I supposed to agree with you ?!

Are you saying i’m lying ?! What has really transpired ?!

  40. zorr0

Don’t start going on about Hleb, he was the major person to blame for not shooting before he left!

Ethan, why is Keyser an AKB because he has a reasoned argument, the sum of which is not calling AW a cunt?

  41. Pat Dig

I understand all the I need a slice of Pizza and I must get home for Casualty stuff, does not mean I have to agree or like it.

I dont go every week , but when I do I sing much its seems to the annoyance of those around me and I stay to the end which usually means I am sat on my own.

I fucking hate anyone taking a pop at us , but based on the evidence its hard to argue!!

  42. PDT

Very disappointing game! I thought it could have ended either way, so guess I have to be happy with one point.

Begs the question – would we have finished 0-0 if Eduardo had been playing? (When is he back – does anyone know?)

The good news is that we played with heart through the first half, even if the defence did look like it wanted to score goals, not defend.

I did hear the commentator say something about Rosicky likely to be back in a month. Theo and Dudu should be back soon.

I guess we need to be philosophical about the EPL fourth spot. We still might end up at #2, but we might end up at #5. It’s too much of a rollercoaster right now, so no point worrying about it.

The CL and the FA Cup are another matter altogther. We have a good draw in the FA Cup and with Dud back soon (?), we should have a good chance. Going to Roma with a goal in hand is great, especially if we get an early goal, because then Roma will have to score thrice to win, which I don’t see happening.

After that, we will, in all probablity, have Cesc back with all that he brings to the team. A midfield of Cesc, Nasri, Andrei and Theo! The sky is the limit in the FA Cup and CL!

  43. Keyser

Angelos – Heh, Sorry, it’s more leaving the comment open for debate, say like this is my point, how much of it do you agree with ?!

  44. Rob From Aus

Yeh i completely agree with what your saying Pedro,

This team is wafer thin and the lack of depth is clearly showing, Also when we cant score a goal and are desperate our only choice to rectify that was to bring Eboue on?! A cover RB? now thats shocking.

If he doesnt just concede that Project youth isnt or will never work, we are doomed to UEFA cup……So i think an overhaul is needed in the summer. Just cut your loses, concede that we are fucked this season and look to nxt year with people over the age of 23 at least.

  45. ethangunner

do you expect every manager to be able to compete no matter what advantage another team has over yours or do you factor it in ?

WELL AS WE ARE A RICH CLUB ON PAPER WHAT DO YOU THINK THE ANSWER SHOULD BE ? should the answer be trophy less for over 4 seasons ?
    ———————————————
Are you saying everything’s fair in the league ?
NO, AND MAY IT LONG CONTINUE …
    HOWEVER ,
when you sell all your key players and replace them with babies who do you think is really to blame ????

and why do you continually defend poor management to the point that its painful to read ?!

    call a spade a spade ..
everyone this week was blowing there bolts over our roma win ?!

    did i ?
    NO …

i cant remember the last time we scored from open play ?!
this club has got issues and debating other clubs that have there heads screwed on to win trophies is hardly relevant . and talking like wenger on the injury issues is just poor , you cannot hide behind injuries for 3 seasons on the trot and keep a straight face ..

something should have been done last pre – season .. not elevate the trash players who couldn’t move on like song etc .. and then elevate 16-17 year old players to the bench who cant even get a game .. this team has cut its own legs off …

we have a bench we cannot utilize during a game and a squad that cant find the back of the net ….

those are the facts and it would be nice for you to finally acknowledge that

  46. PDT

I thought we created quite a number of chances, especially in the first half. We missed having a cutting edge striker. RvP blasted a good header at Shwarzer, which was tipped over. Once Dudu is back, it should get a lot better.

The defence still worries me, despite the string of clean sheets. We could have conceded several times. I still think we need a defensive coach.

  47. Pedro

Asking people questions you know the answer to is childish… I don’t understand the benefit in doing it?

All it does is take the focus of whatever debate you were just having… a deflection tactic.

  48. Angelos

    lol. ok
Keyser, I get where you’re coming from. It’s true everything is relative and nothing is directly relational but the sooner you realise that 1 season of doing badly and blaming it on injury problems is ok, 2 is stretching it, 3 is borderline retarded and 4 is just as ridiculous as Eboue is bad. The answer must either be we are the unluckiest team in the history of the game or we aren’t good enough and haven’t spent as much as we needed to.
I don’t like to make excuses, I leave that to Wenger. So should you.

  49. jraynor

    our subs today.

Bendnter – did very well and actually had a good first touch today
    Eboue- doesnt score goals
Song – scored once I think
Fabiazski – prolly as much chance of scoring as the above two
Gibbs – good prospect, but ultimatley defender
Rambo – I like him, hes English you know

That is clearly a weak squad, when you haven’t got a single person on the bench that can win a match.

    Duh! Thats what a sub does. Win a match. Bring someone on that CAN INFULENCE T H E G A M E

fuck, thats never gonna happen (except Nikky B as he’s alright realoly and works hard, and might not be as good as he can be but tries and will get better unlike Adecraper whos just a fucking primadonna)

  50. ethangunner

THE PROGRAM is reality keyser , i know as ever you will fail to join in with us , you would rather argue that Arsenal is brilliant but we have just been unlucky

  51. Stu

We had the best chances but at one point in the game Fulham had 8 shots to our 4 and thats just unaccaptable for a team with such high wages, expectations etc.

It was one thing when we had no shots but the oppo didnt either but now the oppo is even having more chances than us.

Thats what usually happens to teams in midtable.

  52. jraynor

guys. Lots of bickering here. As an outsider whos new, the atmosphere here is attrocious. Need to think about what newcomers might interperate. If you want to stay just as you are with a cliquey bunch, stay as you are.

  53. Stu

Thats just it Dig. We will all still be here debating and arguing and all that for as long as we can but players, managers come and go. Most of the players take it for granted and dont give a shit what happens as long as they get their money or big money move.

Its that lack of drive, love for the club as a whole that has seem such lazy performances as the ones this season.

  54. PDT

I don’t think we can run away from the fact that this team, as a whole, is not good enough to win the league, even if they had a injury free season. Not getting 4th place will, I hope, force the board to think. Like Ethan says, our bench is completely useless because AW does not have the courage to play them. We have been screaming for Wenger to start Vela and he did, finally, against Fulham and had quite a good game. Give him a few more starts and he will develop.

AW needs to give Wilshere more minutes on the pitch. He can do really well, as we have seen in the past.

But there is no getting away from the fact that we need GROWN UP players on the team. We have to start buying – Arshavin was a good start, but we have to continue. We are a HUGE club, and if we don’t have enough money to buy big players, then someone on the board (Danny) is not doing his job. If we don’t have ADULT players on our wishlist, then AW is not doing his job. Danny can’t be fired, but AW can, so I do really hope that Danny is doing his job.

  55. Keyser

Pedro – Wasn’t really what I was after, it’s a starting point really from where we can actually give this debate some perspective because we always just end up going off on different tangents, almost losing the initial point.

I wsn’t trying to belittle you, my whole point has been balance, yes every team gets injuries but it doesn’t mean we can’t be better off than we are right now in the future ? What’s wrong with that ?!

It’s like with Theo, he’s been average in some aspects, exceptional in others, it doesn’t mean he’s average all around and he’s just one of the players we have to have come back.

This has been a bad season, but we have improved since the start and whether we get better or worse before the end of it remains to be seen.

  56. michael 'master' P

Its time for aw to alter some of his approch. 90percent of PL clubs have have caught up with us on many levels…I’m still confident that we will make 4th place atleast-we have turned arround bigger gaps in the past. The fact is that the root of most of our problem lies, imo,in the lack of a world class dm. We dint have a ball winner to start things of,make the team flow, move and start an attack. Our strikers lack the killer or decisive pass played through to them. We,becuase of this, often break our own attacks down. Put essien in this squad and I believe wekd be challenging for the title. Why? Aside from the obvious benefits he ould bring to the team, players like song or eboue wouldn’t get near the first team. So essien may be a fantasy target. But what about senna? I’m all for signing aa23,but, surely another 5or6 mil would have got him? Wenger needs to buy in quantity and quality this summer and focus on getting us playing how we know we can. .having the MASSIVE injury blows to the first team doesn’t help our cause…hopefullt (hey can step up and finish the season ona winning run, winning the fa and cl in the process.

    80

  57. Pedro

    PDT, so very true.

I watched sky sports news the other day… Pires won a penalty and Thierry scored a good goal.

Gilberto is still doing it as well…

A bunch of players we could do with still!

    Kids can’t learn from kids…

  58. jraynor

Nationalities aside, aren’t we all Gooners here. The bickering and personal rants shouldn’t be precendent over the comments that are being missed, some pretty decent. Otherwise, forget getting any newcomers, stay a small, cliquey bunch of quarrellers

  59. Pedro

I was going to tell you about the elephant fucking the hippo… but i’ve done that in a post before…

  60. gnarleygeorge9

Anyone who can’t see that Arsenal is arriving @ its most critical crossroad in 12 plus years has blinkers on.

The option is, do something constructive now while the haemoraging is just a trickle, or ignore the signs until The Club is copping a media barrage as it staves off relegation.

Arsenal is not ammuned to anything as drastic as this, but in saying this, Arsenal, with a history that goes back 110 years before the Wenger era, has always shown that it can face turmoil head on, & become stronger from the exercise.

People who only know Arsenal under Wenger. Decisions must be made, some decisions that could polarise fans, but we as a club must not take 2nd best, or for that matter 5th best. All that matters is Arsenal, thats all.

And change can still include a Le Prof who spends on quality, REAL QUALITY

  61. Keyser

Angelos – Yes, everything is relative so not every cicumstance is going to be the same, but you still factor everything in don’t you ?! Thats really the whole point.

  62. zorr0

Pedro, Jraynor has a point, depending on what time you come on here it can seem very clique. Sometimes rational, sometimes very anti AW.

  63. PDT

I clearly remember the day I woke up and read that Paddy had been sold. All because AW has some theories on how old you need to be to play for Arsenal! If he really believed in his own theories, he’d be playing LJW more often!

  64. jraynor

Pedro, sorry to disagree, but it is. Re-read the threads. Plenty of good comments, and thoughtsm but sadly overlooked by bickering and people re-acting to bickering, and discussing bickerring, and commenting on bickering etc. What about the countless ignored comments o the blog that I have enjoyed reading, but only see reactions to the arguments going on here…sorry, its getting boring

  65. Pedro

Ok J, got your point the first time.

Read back through the comments… it’s not a small site and it’s not cliquey… you just happen to come in when there were threads already going.

Sometimes you just have to barge your way into a thread…

  66. PDT

Pedro, you’d think he had learnt after the Pires saga that 30 isn’t the new 80. But no! He lets Gilberto go!

I have great hopes for Denilson, but he is no Gilberto. I’d be willing to bet that we’d have at least 10 points more if Gilberto was still around (and captain instead of WG).

  67. Pat Dig

zorro – isnt the point of this place the fact that you can come here and beat up on le-boss without being suffocated by the AKB’s blind lotalty…

  68. Keyser

ethangunner – Who is this ‘US’ you talk of ? All you do is try to insult and belittle, but then get upset when people don’t agree with you.

  69. PDT

jraynor, we do tend to be “expressive”, both in defeat as well as in victory. Today feels like a defeat to most of us, especially since we can now see Villa disappearing in the distance. Come back after a win and see what the clique is saying :-)

  70. Angelos

jraynor I do not know or have ever met Pedro, ethan or Gnarley yet I agree with their points and wer’e developing our ideas and feeligs piece by piece across the thread. Isn’t that what it’s all about? What were you expecting to happen after a fourth consecutive league goalless draw? People are slightly more on edge so close to the match…give it a couple of days and everyone will be in a more responsive mood to differing opinions. But again I don’t understand what you expect from a club blog.

  71. Stu

Kids can only learn so much from each other. Like improving each other through head to head battles but the kids in the team dont get that chance because certain players will always get on ahead of them regardless.

Kids can improve on their own but only if they really want it badly enough. The coaching staff should help them with that natural progression but i doubt that most of the squad have that ambition to be the best.

  72. zorr0

Pat Dig, valid point, but sometimes the anti AW and those just letting off steam can be just as irrational as the AKB’s.

  73. jraynor

Gnarley- understand what you are saying, but dont you feel that the club is kinda pulling the wool on us. We dont have lots of cash to buy, and reckon AW is doing as good as anyone else could on the budget he is given. We are at a crossroads right now, but who could get us out of this mess, without wanting loads of cash for new players?

  74. Stu

In all fairness thugh people still tend to be a little negative even after a win but I like to see that as desire to always improve rather than just being negative for the sake of it and looking for an arguement.

  75. Pedro

Pat, we don’t have any AKB’s on here really… it rarely gets abusive in here…

Everyone has a different view of how things should be run… and I’m glad there are people who think the opposite of me… this would be a very boring place if we all agreed.

PDT, I hope he learns… but will he? Will he ever get over his fear of over 30′s?

Zorro, if you’re referring to Jack… I really don’t think he is ready physically or mentally at the moment. He looks a very underdeveloped 17 year old… unlike Rooney who looked like a 29 year old.

  76. gnarleygeorge9

On a more positive note. When we defend now my pulse doesn’t rise sharply. The defence is great, & starting to get some all important depth. There is no doubt that Eboue is a good option @ RB, he hummed yesterday when he came on & was constructive than Sagna IMHO.

But the rest of the squad does lack depth, & until those signs are reversed, The Club must be questioned. Arsenal is not run by Arsene the dictator, Arsene the Mudgabe, we have a right to question, & now is the time to question.

  77. PDT

I don’t think there are very many AKBs left in the world. I think they’ve added only one paying member this year – Ivan Gazidis. Oh sorry, he gets paid to be an AKB! What a sweet gig!

  78. jraynor

Angelos – understood, but its boring when its personal and not about the football. Its a blog, exactly, we all got different opinions. ~Consturctive answers, great. Personal just bri9ngs the blog thing down really. I like to read peoples opinions on what’s going on, not what they think about another blogger etc etc etc etc

  79. PDT

Pedro, I am tempted to make a reference to AW’s 30 year old abusive uncle, but I know I’ll be yellow carded, so I won’t.

  80. Pat Dig

Zorro I can see what you are saying , and agree that emotion can imbalance peoples perspective.

Personally speaking I am just fed up with it all, and it does feel like the le-boss is playing too long a game for the less strtagic amounst us.

I need a fix , at least before we scored goals, and I have said this already tonight , when Danny Murphy bosses midfield you know you are in deep shit…

  81. PDT

GG9, the problem is that AW is not set up as a dictator or a Mugabe! He is, unfortunately, set up as a Mandela (no offence to Nelson!) and he cannot be questioned.

  82. Stu

So many of us wanted Wenger to keep the over 30s that he sold…like Pires, Vieria, Henry etc but instead he just bought Silvestre. Thats easily one of his worst buys ever.

  83. ethangunner

    jraynor

you can call it bickering , but the point is some people just are BLINKERED to whats really going on .

as GG9 said anyone who cannot see that AFC is at a cross roads right now deserved to be ran over at it !

and yes if wenger does good then commend him .
if he continually fucks up then burn him at the stake likewise ..

someone needs to be accountable , its all about accountability .. the fans pay the money , and they are not getting the results that command their investments ..

i think most of you would like jobs as defense attorneys .

  84. PDT

Pedro, re LJW….he won’t develop unless he gets minutes. If AW is willing to put him on the bench, he should be willing to play him, even if it is only for 15 minutes. He could have played him against Cardiff!

  85. zorr0

Pedro, I was referring to your comment about adults and kids, not specifically LJW. Clichy, Denilson, Theo and Fab could not have learnt what they have by sitting on the bench or playing reserve team.

  86. jraynor

Ok. It seems the camp is pretty split here. Some think AW dos a good job with a shit squad (me) and some wanna kick him up his le arse.

    Question?

    who we gooner get?

Now I need real answers, and names that peeps think would come to us…

    call it a poll

  87. PDT

That’s how the free market works – you get bonus if you have a good year, you start polishing your resume if you have a bad year!

Should work the same way for Arsenal!

  88. Pedro

They could have learnt a lot by playing with great players instead of being pushed into the deepend and left to drown for 6 months.

Fab has worked out and Clichy has worked out. Remember that both those player played with great players before them…

The others are a long way off…

PDT, minutes could work against him… dent his confidence… put too much pressure on him too early…

  89. Angelos

Wilshere is not ready…otherwise he would play. I know Wenger has made some silly decisions but if there’s one thing he’s good at is knowing the development rate of his players. I heard that Wilshere is taking a slight step back due to a dip in form in order to keep him on a steady track.

  90. zorr0

Jraynor, lol. That is the question that everybody asks. Just wait now for the answers. There will be one less now as Hiddink is at the chavs!

  91. jraynor

Pedro – agree LJW is a stunning prospect, but a kid, and we shouldn’t be pinning hopes on a kid. He will need lots of time to develop. We are pinning our hopes due to a shockingly weak squad.

  92. Stu

Wilsheres performances have apparently dropped recently, so much so that Wenger has ordered that he play in the reserves for the rest of the season. Merida and Bischoff have instead taken his place on the bench.

Just on Bischoff, i dont see what made Wenger give him a chance. Whenever he has come on i havent realised because he has done nothing. I would be suprised if he was given a contract in may.

  93. PDT

I wouldn’t go so far as to say that AW should be fired. I think we need to do the following :

    1. Get him a strong No. 2 who can stand up to him. DB10 comes to mind.

    2. Get a competent defensive coach (also someone who can stand up to him) – Martin Keown.

    3. Link his (and their) compensation + bonus to wins and silverware, not to how much money the club earns.

    4. Add a rider to Gazidis’ comp plan to include wins/trophies.

    5. Goal AW on developing a mix of first team and reserve team players who are 20% above 27, 40% above 22 and 20% below 22. (This is my mix, yours could be different).

  94. ethangunner

    keyser

i dont care if im the only person on this blog with a differing opinion …

in fact id prefer it that way ..

most got agro on my stance on ade .. was i wrong ?
also most got angry on my early stance to demand consistency… and a quality striker on board ..

ive always had my own voice , i dont follow the herd .. im never upset by people not agreeing with me .. thats your bag baby not mine ..

my only concern is you keep hiding behind all the wenger cliches .. injuries are a problem , key players are out ..

well in truth that will always happen , thats why they are key players .. they get played more, so chances are they will get injured more…

i have a problem with people playing the injury card when we have suffered from injuries for 4 years in a row .. yet our management cant learn from it .. and then people defend it

  95. jraynor

Bischoff is again young, and I don’t think anybody here could even have an opinion as we havent seen him But can he really be worse than Song? is that even possible?

  96. Denilson (Formerly Known As EbookReader)

This is the same team that can beat Man Utd, Chelsea, Roma etc. All this talk of quality DM, lack of depth is bulls@$t!

Is front-line of VP, Nasri, Arshavin shows any lack of depth? (Let’s not talk about a DM and/or CB when we’re on like a 10 match unbeated run)

In the beginning we’re leaking goals through the partnership of Galas and Toure. Introduction of JD forced them to up their game.

Denilson and Song now have Diaby to compete with and no matter what anyone says they were OK today (and have been for the past 4 or 5 games that we’ve drawn). Murphy boy ran the midfield cause Vela & Arshavin offered nothing in defence and hence Denilson & Diaby had like 4 midfields to cover unlike against Roma with Eboue & Pinky on the wings.

Where are your strikers when you need them? Answer that and 4th place is ours (4 games drawn = 8 points dropped = gap to Aston Villa). You could see how much just one goal would’ve come everybody the f@$k down.

  97. zorr0

Ok, so what has Paddy, Pires, Henry and so far Gilberto done to show we should not have let them leave the hardest league in the world.

I need stats on Paddy’s scudettos by the way to show he played an integral part! lol

  98. Pedro

Jraynor, there are plenty of coaches who’d jump at the chance of taking over a club that are potentially one of the biggest in the world.

Louis Van Gaal, Frank Rijkaard, Jose Mourinho…

  99. PDT

We need a Keown in the dressing room who can tell the players what AW is thinking but not saying.

At least, I hope AW is thinking those things!

  100. jraynor

PDT- again sensible comments. I’d vote for you as manager (for a tiral period only, and only on YTS wages)

  101. Stu

There is a problem in that the shit reserves are being over used and the good ones havent been used much.

Eboue, Song etc vs Vela(until recently) and maybe JW when he was on form.

At least Gibbs is getting the chances. He is better than CLichy going forward and i would have started him to add to attack yesterday.

  102. Angelos

Jraynor I’m a big fan of Lucho Gonzalez. He’s a harrier, very combatitative, has a good engine, a decent passing range, can also make late surges into the box and has certain leadership qualities which this team evidently lacks. Remind you of anybody?

  103. jraynor

Denilson- this is a fans blog. you are not aloud on here. Not unless you start passing the ball forward (agreed today you did better, but you still cant shoot)

  104. jraynor

Pedro – they would all want new players. I think we dont have it. Maybe when the flats actually sell, in 2011

  105. zorr0

Ethan, when AW says something you don’t like it becomes a cliche. When anyone here has the temerity to say the same thing, you suggest it is quoting him making that person an AKB. That is what winds me up about the people on here at the other end of the scale to AKB’s!
