A superstar has landed …At last!!!

The Superstar has landed!

The Superstar has landed!

So it took forever but it has finally happened, just the delayed paperwork to go and it will be official this morning.

Well a day of rollercoaster emotions, he’s signed, no he hasn’t, yes he has, no, wait a minute he hasn’t, Jesus, how tight are we, we could have blown it for a couple of £mil, in stark contrast to the muppets up the road who spent another £43 million just like that.

Well they got someone that had rejected them plus two hopeless players and a crock, well for once and the first time since Dennis Bergkamp we have signed the real deal, the new Zidane, the new Bergkamp, the one and only ‘Andrei Arshavin’ I am so, so happy, at last something to look forward to that doesn’t have promise, he has class, skill and pace, he will be the one that knits this team together, dare I say it, ‘the messiah’ yes folks, I think he is that good!

If this didn’t happen I feel many of us would have not renewed their season tickets, me I have to say, included, it’s about time Arsenal spent our money, I wish we had signed Flamini back or any worthwhile defensive midfielder and a centre back, but hey! I’m thankful for small mercies, I can’t wait for the Tottenham game and I hope he plays.

Wenger will know doubt be crowing and this time I’ll join him because this is where our season begins.

Looking at the full picture, we could have this as our team before too long.

Fabianski

Sagna Kolo Gallas Clichy

Theo Cesc Arshavin Nasri

Robin Eduardo

With a bench of Alumunia, Gibbs, Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky, Djourou, Adebayor.

Now that’s a team that can challenge on all fronts, you notice I left out Eboue , Song, Denilson and Diaby, well I would keep the last two and that’s it.

I know I also didn’t mention Bendtner but I didn’t have room.

People may think Arshavin will take time to settle but I don’t think so, I think first of all he’s from northern climes, he’s mega pissed off and he is a great, great player, he’ll slot straight in, I’ve not been this excited since we bought Charlie Nicholas, I am euphoric, yes that’s right euphoric, way to go Arsenal!

Maybe we can try Djourou as the defensive midfielder, but I still think he’ll try and get the Flamster in on loan, I would, that’s for sure, don’t forget we can get loanies at any time, if you are reading this Arsene, and I know the board do, pat yourself on the back and go out and bring Matty home.

Well done Arsene, well done the board and well done to the fans who brought this pressure on by letting them know how we feel at home games and by not turning up occasionally, it was the only way they would take notice.

Imagine, we got him cheaper than those twats from shite hart lane paid for Palacios, Keane or Defoe, what a bunch of no hopers, let’s show them how good they are by spanking them sideways on Sunday.

Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal!!! (that’s a Song)

Have a great day Grovers, today you’ll see the best looking Russian in history wearing an Arsenal shirt, how can this day get any better? …Well maybe the return of the Flamster!!!

Just read this chant on wrighty’s site… i like it.

    HE IS OUR RUSSIAN,
    OUR ONLY RUSSIAN,
    HE SIGNED FOR ARSENAL,
    ON DEADLINE DAAAY,
    YOU NEVER KNOW ARSH,
    HOW MUCH WE LOVE YOU,
WHEN YOU SCORE GOALS HOME AND AWAAYYY

  2. skandibird

I’m doing gooooooooooooooooood raif; I’m not that grumpy ‘bitch’ from Sunday anymore.

Love the interview with Arshavin on ATVO – question – any message for the fans
response – message, hm – trust in me, trust in Arsenal followed by a ‘to die for’ smile.
    God I’m happy…….

  3. Stu

Wenger says AA wont be making he debut against spuds because of a lack of match fitness. Whats the fuck! He would be a better than Eboue or Denilson ffs!

  4. irishgunner

Stu -watch out for me in my Arshavin shirt around Limerick :-)

Will he keep the number or change in the summer? Might wait if he does

  5. peachesgooner

    Hi all

I couldn’t bare to come on until i’d seen him with his shirt on Arsenal.com. What a lovely sight :)

If one more spud tells me that they could have bought him in the summer……..

Has everyone had a lovely day ;)

irish – love that chant, gonna read your blog

  6. Stu

Irish, its better than having the wrong number on it. Thats why I never get names because players come and go but your left with the original shirt. Getting Eboue would eliminate that problem because hes here for life

  7. irishgunner

    Cheers Peaches :D

Well it has to be done, another trip to the Emirates in the next few weeks :D Gotta to see our new Mr.Sexy doing his thing ;-)

Arshavin Arsenal Betting – Paddy Power

Andrey Arshavin finally confirmed his long-awaited transfer to Arsenal on Tuesday and Paddy Power is offering 7/2 that the Russian instantly finds a place in Gooners’ hearts with a goal against rivals Spurs on Sunday.

Raif – you’re so right it has made such a difference – Sunday a bad day after the WH game.

Emmerdale and a bowl of cream of tomato soup beckons.
Have agood evening boys, if you have access, try to watch the interview on ATVO – very good, not bad english and will get better no doubt.

  13. goonerpress

Truth – In the interview, Arsh said that he does not know if he will play as he needs to get a ‘Work Visa’ (Permit).

Found this on another website, for anyone who might be interested to help:

    Gunflash needs you help…

By Philip Branigan Tuesday, 3rd February 2009

You may or may not be aware, but Gunflash began life in 1949, and we believe that this makes it the world”s oldest and therefore, original fanzine.

All of us connected to Gunflash are very proud of our fanzine”s history and consider Gunflash itself to be virtually an institution – the flagship of the Supporters Club branch – AFSC London.

However, the very existence of Gunflash is currently under very serious threat because it is considered by some not to be financially viable. In our opinion, the true reason behind the pressure currently being put upon the AFSC committee is not so much a RED bank balance factor, it is more of a PINK problem, if you get our drift.

The fact that it was an Arsenal publication that paved the way for football fanzines is one that should be revered by all Gooners. We are very quick to remind Chelski supporters that their CLUB has no history, but a very significant place in the history books is held by something created by ARSENAL FANS, but here we are facing the prospect of allowing it to be thrown away! Ironically, it is a SMALL number of Arsenal Supporters that have only been on the scene for a mere fraction of the time that Gunflash has graced the terraces that are trying to destroy it.

We are determined not to allow this to happen and are therefore making a concerted effort to ensure its survival and are looking for your help to do so.

    SO HOW CAN YOU HELP?

    1) When you buy your copy of Gunflash, why not buy an extra one and give/sell it to a mate that might not know of it. (Where have they been hiding for the past 60 years?)

    2) We desperately need people to help sell Gunflash. We are the only fanzine that has permission to be sold inside The Emirates Stadium. Please call into the club and pick up some copies to sell on matchday. The commission that you earn could pay for more than you think.

    3) We are also keen to hear from any AFSC member or Gunflash reader that has experience in marketing. We recognise that we are lacking in in this department and would welcome any Gooner that could help steer us in this area aboard the Gunflash team.

Email webmaster@arsenalsupportersclub.co.uk if you can help in any way.

  15. gambon

Goonerpress, them 4 will never play together. No team plays 4 playmakers across the midfield.

Arshavin left, Rosicky right for me though as you say….Nasri on the bench.

  16. Stu

Wouldnt mind Appiah in the middle, anchoring the midfield.

    Fabianski
    Sagna – Djourou/Toure – Senderos – Clichy
    Arshavin – Fabregas – Appiah/Flamini – Rosicky
    RvP – Eduardo

Subs: Almunia, JD/Toure, Gibbs, Nasri, Denilson, Vela, Bendtner.

I realise Senderos is there so dont even start.

  17. el tel

let’s take Andrey to our hearts and give him a song to rival PV4 and FL8. Something with a Russian theme. Does anyone know a Russian composers music we can put words to?

  18. Swedish Gun

    —Eduardo–
    Arsh — v.Persie
    -Rosicky Nasri-
    —Fabregas—
    Cli Djo Gal Sag
    –Fabianski–

Cesc as a deep lying playmaker. Dam… we would win 5-2 every game. Would be a joy to watch that team

  19. goonerpress

Stu – I absolutely agree with you there mate. He should be paraded properly. Give the fans a buzz! Get the atmosphere in the stadium from dull to electric.

  20. kelsey

Tal;king about which number AA will get, I believe it is 23, for those who don’t know Herbert Chapman was the one who introduced the numbering of football shirts, to the Arsenal and then the league followed.

  21. gambon

    Almunia
    Sagna Gallas JD Clichy
    Rosicky Cesc Denilson Arshavin
    RVP Ade

New GK, CB, DM in summer…..and hopefully an Ade replacement.

  22. el tel

how about this effort. Andre. Andre Arshavin, Andr Arshavin, Andre of Arsenal. Sung very slowly and very loud. I think the tune is Jewish and sung at bamitzva. Excuse the smelling. Spelling.

  23. goonerpress

    Stu – Its on Newsnow

I can see the following coming:

’2008-09 is the season where I found out I am a worthless footballer’ says Adebayor

  24. goonerpress

irishgunner – I’ll give it a thought! Haha. The plonker better reply to my e-mail, or else I will take drastic action ;)

  25. el tel

    Fabianski

    Sagna Gallas Djoroue Gibbs

    RVP Dennilson Nasri Eduardo

    Arshavin

    Ade

    LJW,Vela,Ebooooooeeeee,Coco,Bendtner,Clichy

  26. Stu

If we do buy a keeper in the summer I would go for …….maybe……..Neuer.

But i doubt we will because Fabianski should be no1 by then.

  27. peachesgooner

el tel – that’ll be hava nagila and you’re right it scans beautifully and we can have an ‘oye’ at the end.
Russian in its roots and the scum will go mad if we use it there – its very traditional ;) ;) ;)

  28. el tel

Jussi of Bolton in goal for me. I said pre season that teams with best keepers win things. people slagged off Van Der Sar but for me he was the best signing for the Mancscummers. Villa signed a decent keeper and look at them now. Lets hope we get a great keeeper in the summer. Then it will be Job done.

  29. el tel

Cheers for that Peaches. I know it will wind the Spuds up and singing it slow like they sing when the Spaz go marching in would do the trick for me. Geoff/Pedro lets get some songs going for more of our boys. The stewards don’t stop the singing they just try stopping everything else, Com on. we need this.

  30. el tel

Peaches I included Nasri as I think the little fella gets stuck in and could track back just as much as the Flamster did. Sammi boy rarely gets knocked off the ball IMO

  31. Stu

El Tel, Jussi is a good keeper but he is in a team that faces about 10-15 shots a game so he has a lot to do. But in a team that usually faces 5shots, if that, there’s no guarantee that he would be of the same quality.

  32. gambon

Ive never been a believer in the idea that a keeper might be good against 15 shots but struggle against only a few.

If a taxi driver only has to make 2 pick ups in a day does he start crashing into lamp-posts?

A good keeper is a good keeper for me.

  33. el tel

    Stu

Good point mate but shots to goals ratio betweeen him and our Tapas bar waiter is ridiculous. I am guessing it is 3 on target to each goal conceded Aluminum (soft metal) . The guy never calls HIS defenders and NEVER makes a match winning save. I don’t think Jussi would be long term answer but a good option till Fab 2 is ready.

  34. el tel

I have a flawed theory Irish. Last year Ade burnt out by Christmas. Maybe he will catch fire at the end of this season. A rocket up the arse by AW might help.

  35. irishgunner

el tel – a literal rocket by AW and he might score from a header

I’m feeling positive about the end of the season :-)

  36. gambon

Irish, i saw that guy on SSN earlier, i think we probably ended up paying the extra £2.5m that he owed them to make it happen, thats what the ‘beyond the call’ part means.

  37. el tel

I listened to that prick Adrian Durham earlier drumming up anti Arsenal support. Maybe the Arsenal should sue the jumped up tosser for his accusations. The FA too should take him on as he is also calling them into question y suggesting we are bent. Mind you forget the FA bit as they are bent. The Chavs incidents v the bin dippers is proof enough of this. Fat bollocks getting his card rescinded and Boswanker getting away with Bruce Lee moves.

  38. irishgunner

el tel – if you were to take every anti-Arsenal voice out of the English media there would be none left!!! Just let Arshavin tear ‘em all up, let the cunt (Durham is now on my list :-) ) rant all he wants.

  39. el tel

I sent this txt to my Manc supporting boss after the Abion match. Do you feel proud about achieving world domination by playing with 14 players EVERY week. He replied at least you are consistent. A|nd Durham thinks we are bent.

  40. bob

    This is my team

    Almunia
    Sagna Gallas Djourou Clichy
    Walcott Fabregas Nasri Arshavin
    RVP Adebayor

Subs: Fabianski Toure Diaby Denilson Eduardo Wilshere Ramsey Vela

  41. el tel

    Hi Choy

Andrey was great PR, Outside Stadium he met fans, he said I am Gooner and was signing pics of himself that looked like he was giving to the fans, as I doubt Arsenal would have pics of him ready that quick. Good man going on this showing.

  42. gambon

If AW went by some of the teams that have been recommended here our defensive record would be even worse than the joke it is!

  43. el tel

Irish I know we are the most hated Team in the country but what that idiot was saying was libelous. He truly believes we did the deal today and were given extra time.

  44. irishgunner

El tel – Do you think the club will take action? Someone should mention it too them in case the press release crowd were too busy putting out stuff

  45. el tel

    Gambon

I think wave as good defenders as all the others but we have a poor keeper. How can defenders be blamed when 30/40 yarders are flying in. We let in stacks of headers around the 6 yard line because he never comes for anything. The man is a giant but plays like a midget ( apologies to any midgets )

  46. el tel

    Hi Irish

I doubt Arsenal will take the muppet seriously but he was comparing this to the Tevez situation at the Shammers. He even said we should get booted out of Europe for it if found guilty. Wright very weakly tried defending the Club but he was letting Everton fans ans Spuds have their say and cutting in on any Gooners that were on. I switched off after a bit and watched tv instead.

  47. zorr0

I am not being funny, but how the fuck did monobrow get off what was a blatant kung fu move to stick his studs in Benayoun’s (who has a monobrow on his top lip!) back and shove him down. Could that have been a more obvious red card, yet they say there is no case to answer.

Then they agree to let the fat twunt lumpard off!

  48. el tel

Got to go guys, get ready for work. It ended up being a good day at last for us. Lets hope it boots us on to better things. Up the Arse.

  49. gambon

    El Tel,

i think Almunia is very average, but our defensive problems go further than that. We just cant defend, and we wont win the title til that changes.

  50. goonerpress

Okay guys. Got an e-mail back from Appiah’s agency. This is what they said:

    ‘Here he is again!’

What on earth is that supposed to mean? lol
They can’t mean here I am e-mailing them again as I only e-mailed once. I also recieved a missed call from a Private Number. Don’t know if it was them though. Maybe it was and someone told them they already spoke to me and gave an answer and now they probably think I’m trying to get more info through an e-mail.

I sent them an e-mail back saying:

    ‘Sorry?’

  51. el tel

    Zorro

Ade got sent off for showing suds and he was in control of his actions, to a man the Arsenal haters condemned Ade but the same wankers say the Fatwan should have been sent off even though all studs were showing and he was out of control, he even twisted around mid slide and ended up face down. Alonso should have jumped the prick.

  52. steve pires

I heard some Man utd muppet on talksport going on about the same thing with Arshavin and how he would want action taken if we won the league, ie- an investigation into the transfer. It seems to have ruffled some feathers (Manure supporters). They are shit scared of us. I would have to be taken to hospital in hysterics if we did win the league.

  53. el tel

    Steve Pires

Yeah thay conveniently forget that they have got Tevez now and what exactly changed for them to have him instead of the Shammers.

  54. Truth

EL tel, Check out Iain Spragg piece entitled ‘Andrei Arshavin deal just doesn’t add up’, its more or less saying the same as A Durham’s nonsense.

  55. irishgunner

Wolski – They have that video up a while under a different heading and with different music. AW’s face is so funny. The Scum Spuds have a different version but i’ll not give that the time of day!!

  56. George

What a great signing and about time too!Although I thought I read Geoff comparing the feeling generated by Andre’s signing with that of Charlie Nicholas…..I do hope the feelgood factor lasts longer with Arshavin than Charlie as he flattered to deceive many a time and his carear wasn’t exactly a roaring success. He has been on a training camp in Dubai apparently doing light training with the rest of the Zenit squad as the Russian season finished some time ago and I doubt we will see him at Tottenham, although the thought of him scoring against the team he rejected whilst nutmugging the clown Bentley, who probrably cost more than him, would be enough to make most Arsenal fans laugh for the next month or so.
    Talking of Spurs,they have continued to splash the cash at the sort of rate Emelda Marcus would at a Jimmy Sheu(no idea how to spell it)sale and it strikes me that it is plainly obvious that Arsenal needed to reinforce in the summer which Arsene failed to do,and the board and the manager have to face up to their part in this if we finish 5th or below but I would ultimately rather follow follow a team that could be accused of underspending than make thaemselves a laughing stock by spending millions of pounds on the following in the last 12 months;
    Pavlechenko £14m
    Modric £14m
Bentley £16(thanks for the £6m sell on fee)
Keane (we assumed they are a small amount up on this deal)
Defoe (net loss of £8m and apparently he has nearly doubled his wages)
    Palacious £14 million
    Bale £8m
Hutton £8m….they have overspent for years on the likes of Bent and Jenas and achieved 1 trophy, the Carling Cup
…..where are Spurs in the Premieship after spending the sort of money some Arsenal fans can only dream of…..near the bottom. So splashing huge amountd of cash isn’t aways the answer although recently Arsenal F.C have seen some pretty poor football displayed by a team that despaerately needed 2 quality additions.
At the risk of puttting the backs up of a couple of people,it does concern me when various people talk about not renewing their season tickets becuase they cannot stand the way the club is being run..and I can fully understand that during these more difficult financial times for many, that season tickets become much more of an unaffordable luxury but my view, for what it is worth is this….Iam able to gloat at Chelsea fans and sing”where were you when you were shit”which I would forfeit the right to do,if I gave up supporting my team when they went through the sort of bad patch most clubs would dream of being in.

  57. wolski

it’s amazing really….I was only recently looking at our squad thinking what shit are we putting out these days, lack of quality, won’t make CL….now…the man arrives and what are the words…..

I FEEL GOOO-OD…nah nah nah nah nah nah nah
I knew that I would now!

  58. George

    totally agree Wolski,imagine
Asharvin,Fabrigas,Denilson and Rosicky/Nasri in midfield and we can all feel good…Iam sure Song and Eboue could get a chance…to clean their boots.

  59. Rob From Aus

    Imagine what Song is thinking?

“Am i gonna even get a game?”
    “Why am i so shit?”

Oh, ask me ill tell u ya Cunt ;)

  60. wolski

thats right IrishG… we play the winner at the grove. With the Arsh in the ranks!

George….suddenly one man and the line up looks great, even if fab out for a while we can still go

    Arsh, Denilson, Nasri, Vela

add to that theo, rosicky, in their…eboue will revert to rb cover,…and song cover for denilson…until we get someone of class in there as well,

    Oh,,,,,,and Eddie coming back….

  61. wolski

right I’m off…. up at 4, heading to dublin for a couple of days.

Will have to down a few pints of the irish nectar to celebrate.

  62. goonerpress

    Rob From Aus – Hahaha

I think Wenger has picked up on our comments regarding Song and Eboue. I think Eboue will from now on be a 2nd choice RB and Song will struggle to get a game. Could mean a good thing for both of them? Maybe competition and spells on the bench will get them off their toes?

  63. irishgunner

Anyone know if Diaby is badly injured? Any news on that?

When Cesc is back I think the midfield will be

    Arshavin-Cesc-Denilson-Nasri

Then with Theo and Mozart back he can mix it up a bit – oh happy days :D
