The Superstar has landed!

The Superstar has landed!

So it took forever but it has finally happened, just the delayed paperwork to go and it will be official this morning.

Well a day of rollercoaster emotions, he’s signed, no he hasn’t, yes he has, no, wait a minute he hasn’t, Jesus, how tight are we, we could have blown it for a couple of £mil, in stark contrast to the muppets up the road who spent another £43 million just like that.

Well they got someone that had rejected them plus two hopeless players and a crock, well for once and the first time since Dennis Bergkamp we have signed the real deal, the new Zidane, the new Bergkamp, the one and only ‘Andrei Arshavin’ I am so, so happy, at last something to look forward to that doesn’t have promise, he has class, skill and pace, he will be the one that knits this team together, dare I say it, ‘the messiah’ yes folks, I think he is that good!

If this didn’t happen I feel many of us would have not renewed their season tickets, me I have to say, included, it’s about time Arsenal spent our money, I wish we had signed Flamini back or any worthwhile defensive midfielder and a centre back, but hey! I’m thankful for small mercies, I can’t wait for the Tottenham game and I hope he plays.

Wenger will know doubt be crowing and this time I’ll join him because this is where our season begins.

Looking at the full picture, we could have this as our team before too long.

Fabianski

Sagna Kolo Gallas Clichy

Theo Cesc Arshavin Nasri

Robin Eduardo

With a bench of Alumunia, Gibbs, Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky, Djourou, Adebayor.

Now that’s a team that can challenge on all fronts, you notice I left out Eboue , Song, Denilson and Diaby, well I would keep the last two and that’s it.

I know I also didn’t mention Bendtner but I didn’t have room.

People may think Arshavin will take time to settle but I don’t think so, I think first of all he’s from northern climes, he’s mega pissed off and he is a great, great player, he’ll slot straight in, I’ve not been this excited since we bought Charlie Nicholas, I am euphoric, yes that’s right euphoric, way to go Arsenal!

Maybe we can try Djourou as the defensive midfielder, but I still think he’ll try and get the Flamster in on loan, I would, that’s for sure, don’t forget we can get loanies at any time, if you are reading this Arsene, and I know the board do, pat yourself on the back and go out and bring Matty home.

Well done Arsene, well done the board and well done to the fans who brought this pressure on by letting them know how we feel at home games and by not turning up occasionally, it was the only way they would take notice.

Imagine, we got him cheaper than those twats from shite hart lane paid for Palacios, Keane or Defoe, what a bunch of no hopers, let’s show them how good they are by spanking them sideways on Sunday.

Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal!!! (that’s a Song)

Have a great day Grovers, today you’ll see the best looking Russian in history wearing an Arsenal shirt, how can this day get any better? …Well maybe the return of the Flamster!!!

lol i like arshavin’s “like some players in the team” quip…

Obviously with cesc and van persie injured it must be a bit boring watching song and eboue show off their repertoire of dazzling skills

  2. Seb

I wonder who he is talking about when he said ‘I like some players from the team’…

My money’s on Song and Eboue – who wouldn’t want to play with those guys?

  3. Keyser

Stu – Senderos played ok against the likes of Wigan and others because he had the pace of Gallas next to him and he could head balls away for fun because all they did was lump them forward, he couldn’t deal with someone like Torres and by the time we played against Liverpool he fucked up big time.

It all contributes and helps account for it, Sagna had Hleb in front of him, not the strongest player, but worked exceptionally hard, could hold the ball up and Sagna didn’t have to worry about overlapping him and finding out he’d lost the ball, put Walcott in front of him and what happens ?!

It all counts, Senderos can head balls played in the air, how hopeless does he look being caught out against pace ? it’s about balance.

  4. Metal Gear

Seb thats exactly what I thought I was actually laughing when he said ” I like some of the players” At least he’s honest eh he knows there are some average joes in this team. Im sure he’s looking foward 2 playing alogside Nasri, VP, Eduardo and Fab.

  5. Keyser

Stu – Where do you get this ‘Wenger doesn’t believe in tactics’ thing ?!

We play a deeper line what happens ? You lose you’re effectiveness going forward and that’s been our problem this season we’ve continually come up against teams that play 3 in midield with pace on the wings looking to counter attack us.

We can say we’ve conceded goals and still scored as manay as everyone else, lasy year we outscored almost everyone and until the injuries our defence was probably as good as anyone elses.

  6. Keyser

goonermichael – That was soo blatant it should have been a straight red, like Delap on Walcott or Shawcross on Adebayor.

This seasons game at Villa park Agbonlahor raced 40 yards to hack Diaby down from behind the ball was about 5 yards in front of Diaby. It’s almost like O’neill sees a player at half time to single out and sends someone out to hack them down.

  7. Keyser

Ah well, we’ve only got 4 days till the next game, suppose they’ll be other stuff to discuss.

The Youth teams are doing well.

I really hope Villa don’t make the top four at our expense, they’ll make a massive deal about O’neill triumphed with real British grit over the dirty foreigners.

  8. gambon

RevVELAtion, i would suggest that Rosicky will be ahead of Nasri when everyones fit, Nasri will be a fantastic squad option though.

Stu, in terms of the defence, i think Rosicky, Hleb and Flamini offered a high workrate that we dont have currently. We definately need some extra quality in the defensive spine, for me Denilson, Djourou, Toure, Almunia are squad players, not first XI material.

  9. ethangunner

    stu

there was just as many defensive clangers dropped last season , senderos and clichy at birmingham ..
also jens for the 1st couple of games ..

Now almunia has turned into jens and jens has left .
and we are not holding as much possession as last year and also failing to do anything with it when we have it .

you cant just look on how many goals are scored and say the problem is our defense , sure it could be better , but when your an attacking team , or should i say play like an attacking team (minus the punch and finishing) you leave yourself more vunerable for a counter attack .

you cannot be defensive and still play attacking football that arsenal is known for ..
with us it was always a matter of score more goals than the opposition .. and for the past couple of years our finishing has been fucking poor !

either we turn into the chevs and defend ..
(which i know no one wants to see )
or we become more effective in the final 3rd and get back to winning ways …

i will say no one enjoys seeing teams like bolton put 10 men behind the ball and defend for 90 minutes.

just a small tweak in defense is needed … to make it all work we have the experience there more so than any other area on the pitch ..

they just all need to learn to play like a fucking team again .. and restoring a productive creative midfield will go a long way to holding more possession and thus putting less pressure on our defense ..

  10. iceman

“I moved because I like the Arsenal style, Wenger as a coach and I like some of their players.”

Hear that Eboue/Song………..That was NOT for you guys!!!!! ;)

  11. ethangunner

also makes you wonder how much he will like arsenal if we lose C.L football and if wenger leaves in 18 months.

  12. iceman

    Villa will drop points…..

All we have to do is keep our run going and make sure we perform….Drawing at home to West Ham is unacceptable….

Hopefully now with AA and the injured players coming back our team will have more shape….and less clowns starting…..

  13. benno

i’m sure he was tlkin bout Cesc, Rosicky and Hleb last season…he can take Hleb’s place and add Nasri to that and it looks like we could get back to our brilliant passing game. With a potent attack in Eduardo and RVP and i think we’re laughing. Ade as an impact off the bench as well as Theo.

and to be honest i think Chelsea and possibly Liverpool look more like dropping points than Villa right now… wait till Torres gets injured again and Liverpool will be fucked coz they sold Keane, and Ngog and Kuyt just won’t get them the goals.

  14. ethangunner

    benno
our fixtures suck , between 18 april til the end we play the chevs man U and poo …

its more like we need to win everything on the table up until that point ..

  15. ethangunner

hopefully AA will give the team a boost , just as much as it does the fans !

it will be magic if he settles straight away ..
but i wouldnt count on it ..
even wenger said dont expect to much ..

lets hope he doesnt get injured :)

  16. benno

if u read it i did say up until the pool game… and i think if we can take advantage of that we’ll be in the top 4 at that point and then its ours to lose

  17. ethangunner

    Also Vela MUST play !

he will be a superstar so get movin arsene , give him some pitch time ..

    RVP- cesc – AA – nasri – sagna . a stable back 4 ..
the team is coming together ..

young theo – and jack .. i think next season with another 1 or 2 signings we can be up there ..

but we need to get rid of the clowns …

eboue only used as back up .. diaby-song and ade gone !

and replaced with some class ..

  18. iceman

You can count on Ade/Eboue being flogged…..

Diaby/Song not too sure (when do their contracts run out??)

But yeah……2 more astute signings….a CB and DM…. and we’re gonna have some team…..

  19. spenza

with all the injured players coming back soon, bentener, eboue, adebayor can now warm the bench till they are offloaded

  20. benno

lol, ive just realised that my desktop background is the 1st team squad photo for this season, and the only player that has there face covered by an icon is Eboue, and that Song and Silvestre also aren’t in it… coincidence?

  22. gnarleygeorge9

Bloody hot today, so I bought a six pack of Peronis, then a dip in the “cement pond”.

pak I’d better update Arswaxin myself; I made him No13. Better give him a hallow as well. Chamoneeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

  23. gnarleygeorge9

Does anyone know when the earliest the big 4 will get together. Maybe Rosicky Cesc Nasri Arswaxin will be let loose against manure. Normally I have pity for the unsuspecting (well ;) never spuds) but manure are going to be in all sorts of trouble if the 4 play, plus Theo.

Bit like the Bee Gees plus Andy Gibb  Hang on there were only 3 Hee Bee Gee Bees. Oh, well;)

  24. gnarleygeorge9

well just go to international teams, scroll to Russia, click on The “saviour” & write down all his attributes, then create a new player with his details.

  25. gooner-pak

it’s not just mash potatoes tht v want its should a revenge for our feeling of last draw match and add carling cup revenge as well….
like mashing tomatos in hand….nothing left

  26. iceman

Gnarley we’ll probably have to wait till the big 4 get together…….but Cesc should be within a month from now……

Also……i think AW will try him behind a striker too and not just a winger….I just have a feeling……..

  27. gooner-pak

my freind from other city called me and said did ya visited le-grove..(he is reader and doesnt make comments)…he said did ya read le-grove…i said it was posted yesterday…..he said le-grove guys has too much expectation from the russian…i said there is ray of hope rivival of arsenal style of football and its not juct them its every one if you go through comments…….
hope he live much much higher then our expectation

  28. gooner-pak

    right here gg9
i want to see those clips of AA signing shorts of fans outside (just saw in headlines at skynews)

  29. iceman

    Yeah Gnarley…….

That’s where he did most of the damage from at the Euros if I remeber correct…..

If that clip is anything to go by then we’ve got a helluva fella people!!!!!!!!!!!

Bring on the joke that buys over priced ex-players……………

  30. gnarleygeorge9

Actually, icey, ever since Triple T (The Togo Taranchula) got rid of the Bo Derek braids he hasn’t been the same ;)

  31. gnarleygeorge9

I think with spuds height, Arsenal need to start with Big Johan this weekend. He is due to score…..for us ;)

  32. Duke

The next players the scum will be buying will be from their title winning season in black in white.
Dont think AA will play against them though.

    04/02/2009 – 07:42:01
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis believes the club are well-placed to survive a potential failure to qualify for the Champions League.

The Gunners are currently fifth in the Barclays Premier League, five points behind Aston Villa in the fourth qualification place, and face the possibility of not being in Europe’s premier club competition next season.

While reaching the Champions League is viewed as imperative for the finances of clubs likes the Gunners, Gazidis believes they could cope with missing out.

Gazidis told The Times: “This club is in a position to withstand a year without Champions League qualification, not that we are anticipating it.”

The 44-year-old took up his new post at the Emirates Stadium last month after a 14-year association with Major League Soccer which he helped establish.

The South Africa-born Oxford graduate, though, is uncertain whether the Premier League could adopt practices such as the salary cap or even discarding promotion or relegation.

“I’m not sure you can ever take the US sports business model and transplant it into European football,” Gazidis continued.

“I don’t think it would work for a range of different reasons, some of them logistical.

“How do you get your arms around a worldwide market to impose a salary cap, for example? But there are cultural issues also.

“Abandoning promotion and relegation may be a sounder business model, but culturally that is not acceptable
    ————————————

Morning all, that’s a real negative statement to start today with after the completion of AA’s signing.

    Read it as you like.

  34. PDT

Gazidis is setting expectations. I don’t think anyone in the arsenal believes for a second that we won’t be hurt by not getting into the CL.

  35. Geoff

Morning all, gooner-pak tell your friend that’s what being an Arsenal fan is, living in hope! tell him to post some comment, he’s welcome.

Gnarley I can still taste yesterdays Peroni’s! PDT I will be gutted if he doesn’t play on Sunday, but I suspect you’re right.

  36. iceman

    Kelsey…….

    Think of it this way…..

The tone of the article is we’re gonna try our socks off to finish 4th (at least)……but if we don’t (which is a possibility as of now)….. it’s not all doom and gloom……which means the $$$ is there…..why we won’t spend any of it is kinda like the bermuda triangle…..no one has a clue!!!

  37. Duke

Geoff – well atleast its not being upgraded, imagine them saying sorry Andrei you had to take a pay cut as we would like to improve Song’s contract for a great season.

  38. gooner-pak

geoff its working hrs here i am at work and doing all this stuff….i’ve asked him and told him its more good to get what other ppl say….
hopefully i’ll b gettin wireless internet at home post mon so my contribution will extend (currently my net service is bit slow at home so i seldom use it at home)

  39. Geoff

Duke I know what I’d like to do with him!!!

Gooner-pak when you get that connection your life will change forever.

  40. gooner-pak

and from tommoro’s comment goonermicheal and others who are supportin arsenal for a long long time my salute to all of u…i really do respect u guys…its my first frustrating season with the club but u guys were with the club…..
but hey its not my problem tht i landed in the country tht loves cricket like crazy ppl….
and thanks god i didntfollowed club level till i joined university caz all my friends prior to tht were chav and manu fans……….

  41. gnarleygeorge9

    Chozzer

Gooners can’t get to work coz of snow , but nothing stops them from seeing the “Saviour” unvieled

  42. benno

Gnarley you are soo right about the braids.

By the time we play the others in the big 4, especially united and chelski we should have Theo, Cesc, Rosicky and Eduardo fit. We just need to take advantage of our kind run we have at the moment until we play Pool

  43. Duke

hahaha Geoff, well make sure he is not tight with the Chelski boys, because then the FA will just overthrow your sentence and make him play starting line up for us every game.

  44. gnarleygeorge9

    Benno

The pool game will have some senimentality for me ;)

0-2 would be nice, & it can happen like that.

In the 1st ever cricket test in melbourne in 1877 Australia beat England by 45 runs. In 1977 Australia beat England by 45 runs. Curious ;)

  45. Seb

Great feeling this morning in the bathroom, as I removed my stubble, to look over at my can of (Ar)shavin foam and think “He’s ours!” – it will be a little reminder every morning of the day we finally made a big time transfer again :)

  46. iceman

I’m with you on that Geoff…..and what’s up with the white uniforms??

Also…….when was the last time we got this excited about a transfer…….I wanna say Rosicky?

  47. benno

Seb, read your post again. You said:

‘a little reminder every morning of the day’

should that be year seeing its only the morning once during every day…

  48. PDT

    Hmmmm….moot point this!

every morning of the day vs. morning of every day….I think Seb should get some poetic licence…

  49. kelsey

    Geoff,

question for you ? If Eduardo is still not 100% fit or sharp, which is understandable, why has been called up for the croatian national team next week. ?

  50. gnarleygeorge9

……anyway girls game or not, do you get my drift with the 1877 to 1977 same result.

It is definitely the only game in the world where you have a 3 course meal during play

  51. kelsey

Thanks PDT, but you know our record of players getting injured whilst on international duty,I just find it a strange decision.

  52. iceman

No I meant in the Wenger era….Rosicky’s the only player he’s ever signed who was in his prime and who people outside Bujumbura knew of…..

Pires/Wiltord I guess could come under that as well…..

  53. gnarleygeorge9

I think Arswaxin will not get injured too much. All that snow & ice in Russia means good muscle recovery after games :D

  54. Seb

    jesus benno…

it will be a little reminder every morning

    pause

of the day we finally made a big time transfer again

    is that clear now? LOL

This is just what you need on a morning when you’re clearing 6 inches of snow off the car! Syntax grief!

but we signed Arshavin, so nothing can get me down today :P
