Like buses they come in three’s – Arshavin, Richards and Delph?

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Ok so nothing for ever and now we’ll possibly sign three top players in the window, do we believe it? Well Sky flashed on their broadcasting of the Spurs humiliation last night that ‘Arshavin would sign in the next 24 hours’, that I can believe, we’ve spent too long on this not to happen and they clearly can’t keep a player who doesn’t want to be there.

Fabian Delph? Fulham have tabled a £5mil bid but apparently Arsenal are mulling over and £8mil bid, sorry I don’t believe this one, why £8mil?

Richards to go to Arsenal for £7mil says the News of the World, this one is interesting, cut price at £7mil, a big Arsenal fan, liked by Wenger, well it all adds up but we have Song, Gallas, Silvestre, Dourou and Kolo, so I can’t see it happening unless he sells Gallas. If he could sell Gallas then it does make sense, Richards could be world class and he is English, but for me it won’t happen because Wenger says he won’t sign a centre back.

But he did say if the right player is available he will buy, and one of our Grovers did say he will make 3 signings in the window, so maybe, just maybe!

Well it’s our turn today and I expect a good and convincing win, I hope Ramsey plays and scores 6 goals, I also hope we score early and don’t have to wait for 70 minutes to equalise, I just want to enjoy my Sunday.

So who we’ll sign will be apparent this coming week, 3 players? Surely not Arsene! Have a great day Grovers today we lay the ghost of Cardiff past and have our revenge for 1927 and that final, that still riles me, damn those Welshman, we will have our own back this day.

Its just abit of fun ffs. Some people take it way too seriously. In all fairness, why would a blog be the first to know even if he did sign.

  3. Ja_Gunner

Geoff most of us here agree that Song is not good enough at this time.

However you must give credit when it is due …he did have a good second half.

But to say he was absolute shite today shows bias.

  4. Geoff

Ja so he had a reasonable second half, great, he gets paid shed loads to have an ok second half and people think that’s acceptable, well if that’s it I’m sure you’ll all enjoy watching us, I won’t.

  5. patthegooner

Ok lets put in another way

It was an OK result, it was not a poor result nor was it a great result, but we are still in it, and now have them back at our place and have been given a favourable draw should we win it.

It was a Poor Performance, it was not an ok or great performance. There were a couple of good individual performances, a few ok’s and some poor individual performances. There were maybe a couple of unnaceptable ones too.

Gibbs was stand out for me, I thought he had a good 90 mins. I also thought RVP looked quite sharp, and Fabianski impresses me more and more every time I see him. I just think he commands his area well and communicates with his back four.

Song had a good second half, although I do take on board the comments about Cardiff running out of Gas and I have actually said myself before that when Song actually does the minimum required it looks good as he is usually woeful. But I do think he did some good work in that last 30-40 mins. What I will say is I expected it and posted in prior to the game. He was playing against players of similar standard so he should stand out a bit more. Song should move to the Championship for the sake of his own career.

As for my mood, I just still feel flat, honestly I dont even feel like we have played today and neither have the misery of a loss or poor performance draw or the glee of a win. It was like watching a practice game.

What I will say though is that I thought the Away fans were excellent. For long periods the only thing I could hear were the Arsenal fans and for that to happen at Ninnian Park is unheard of especially when the big boys are in town. I think the early kick off did us a favour there.

  6. Ja_Gunner

We should sign Arshavin….and that 28 year old Argentine DM(Bataglia) from Boca …..that should be good enough to get us through the season to 4th place or better.

Bataglia would just be a 2 year stop gap until a guy like Coquelin or even Diaby matures into the role.

  7. Stu

So Geoff, whose gonna be Le Champ? Song maybe for his amazing performance against a world class team.

Or maybe Eboue for not diving even once. Just generally falling around the place.

  8. patthegooner

I also hope that the Club see sense and charge a little bit less for the Replay otherwise I can see a half empty stadium. They should maybe do an Adults pay kids go free.

And I hope we field as close to full strength as possible, the draw has been favourable so we should really go for the throat in the FA Cup.

  9. Lewyd24

Our entire team is paid shed loads. Every single week there is always a couple of them that does not earn their weekly wage but lets just say SONG played well today & leave it as that. They say you only as good as your last performance & Songs las t one was today & he did well. Lets wait & judge him on his next performance. If he is shite then we say he is shite but when he is good lets find it in us to say he was good.

  10. Stu

I dont see how Fabianski can be dropped after such a commanding performance, especially in terms of comtrolling the area an coming for the ball.

  11. London

    Lewyd24

You obviously do not visit this site too often or you would ralise that what you have said is far too logical.

  12. London

Songs passing by any standards was very good in the second half. Only an irrational dislike of him as a player would stop anyone admitting that.

  13. Pat

Not sure how I feel about Fabianski. I’ve watched him a lot for Legia and I always wanted Arsenal to sign Kuszczak or Boruc as I rated them much higher than Fabianski. Possibly better than Almunia already though.

  14. Lewyd24

London I visit this site every day. I see the critiscism towards Song day in day out. Im one of those that Crtiscise aswell. All im sayin is that he had a better game than most of our players today. He was not shit. He is not the reason we drew today.

  15. Stu

Songs passing in the second half is what is to be exoected of any half decent footballer. They were just the basics. Nothing special.

  16. Stu

Pat, Boruc this season is having shocker after shocker. He is letting so many soft goals past him. He is making Almunia look good. As for Kuszczak if he isnt good enough for United then why shoudl be be accaptable for us.

There are much better keepers than those 2.

  17. Lewyd24

Stu if Songs passing today is what is expected of any footballer then what do we have to say about Ramseys passing? He was our worst player. Infact we could have lost the game today cos of his bad passing.

  18. Angry Loner

Ramsey has a mare and is forgiven, Song plays well and gets slated still!

Anyhoo, there must be sumfin else worth chewin the fat over???

  19. Stu

Has Nasri played right mid for us yet because if he doesnt play there it will have to be Eboue again against Everton. Gibbs left then. Anyone except Eboue again.

  20. patthegooner

Have you seen Boruc as well, he is a right Fat fucker,

He has been piling in the Haggis and Mcewans. Looks like Bosnich now.

  21. London

    Lewyd24

You can’t imply that Song played a more important role than Ramsey on this site. Ha hhhaaaaa. I’m laughing my head of here. I should go before I get into trouble. Hasta mañana

  22. patthegooner

And what do you think of this.

If we dont sign anyone, then I fully expect the Stadium to be half full in the Replay next Wednesday night.

We are about 1m short of Arshavin now

If Arshavin was to be introduced to the crowd before kick off or even better if it was his debut then I would then expect a sell out, thus making the difference in about 1m of Revenue even after giving the Taffs half of it.

  23. gooner john

I am hearing lots of talk that Martin O Neil had made a huge bid and is willing to break the clubs wage structure to lure our Van Persie.. . . hope there’s no truth in it.!!!!

  24. zorr0

If we sign AA I don’t see how he will be match fit for the replay, therefore I cannot see any chance of it being a sell out, other than the fact there will be 9k sheepshaggers there!

  25. patthegooner

    Do you think so Angry

We have had massive gaps in PL games,

Does this come under the Season Ticket or Club Level allocation?

  26. Pedro

Well, after taking some time out to reflect… I am still mightlily hacked off about it.

Purely because I think we are on a nice little run at the moment and I felt playing a weak team… then drawing… could have knocked the stuffing out of us.

Could we not just have played our first team… especially considering Everton did at Liverpool?

  27. Stu

    Evening Pedro.

Im watching the real match with a pool fan and even he is agreeing about Eboue. He cant understand why he plays either and thinks we should sell him.

  28. Angry Loner

I don’t see why we won’t sell out or as near to it for the replay.

Goonerjohn; That rumours well left field fella!

  29. patthegooner

I would have preferred it if we did, I am sure we would have won the game, it was there for the taking.

But given who we did start and the performance, I will take the replay,

Shame though as I didnt think Cardiff provided that much threat. It was one of those, I was comfortable throughout the match that we were not going to lose it, but likewise i did not feel that we were going to win it either.

  30. patthegooner

I guess we will see angry, I think a lot will depend on the Transfer Window and it would not surprise me if people hold off until there is some movement.

  31. Lewyd24

The difference between us being week & strong is playing Ade ahead of Bentner & Denilson ahead of Ramsay. Clich was suspended so would that have made the difference?

  32. patthegooner

Also we are at home on Saturday as well so it will be an expensive week

I guess it will also depend on if it is televised

  33. GMR

Pedro, If we lack confidence because we could only draw 1 game then Everton must be on the floor having drawn two games in a row against their rivals.

For all those like myself that will clutch at any small straw in the hope that something points to Arshavin signing, well his official website is having an English translation added (although it’s not currently working at present). Lets keep our fingers crossed that we get some good news on this.

  34. Pedro

GMR, there is a difference between picking up a draw at Cardiff and getting a draw with Liverpool with a vastly depleted team….

I think the Arsh deal will go through… I’m not expecting a huge amount from him this season though…

  35. GMR

Cardiff have been brilliant at home this season & Liverpool have been pretty average especially for a supposed big club, so I agree there is a big difference. Arsenal can take confidence & Everton must feel humiliated, they couldn’t even beat a team that drew at home to stoke.

  36. Angry Loner

If our team lose confidence from a goaless draw away from home in the FA Cup, then there’s something seriously wrong with em. They have good momentum in the league and should go into the game in good shape.

  37. GMR

All this negativity over a draw is ridiculous. Everyone goes on about the old days with Pires, Vieira, Henry & Co, yet if they were so good why did they struggle to beat average european teams & never once won the european cup?

It remains to be seen if this current batch of players can do anything but constantly harping on about how great that team was when realistically they were nothing more than an excellent premier league side. Man Utd won more trophies than us whilst those players were wearing Arsenal shirts & in those days it was a two team league.

  38. Angry Loner

Just been watching a few highlights from the 2001-2 season, we had a few dodgy results in that year! Seaman seemed to concede from the most insipid shots! Bless him!

  39. GMR

Stu – So what if they are their biggest rivals, Rafa has already said he doesn’t give a toss about the FA cup this season (as he does every season) & yet Everton still couldn’t beat them, why should they gain confidence from that?

  40. Angry Loner

Everton played their hearts out and we just waltzed about the pitch, we’ll have plenty in the tank, yay! Wenger masterstroke! WooHoo!!!!

  41. Pedro

Reina, Arbeloa, Carragher, Skrtel, Dossena; Mascherano, Alonso; Kuyt, Gerrard, Babel (Riera 74mins); Torres.

Pretty strong team for someone who doesn’t give a toss. Everton will be gutted…

  42. Stu

What! Oh thats in a bar. No, i mean in an off licence. I dont drink in bars on a Sunday night, no matter how dull my day was.

  43. patthegooner

This whole Arshavin thing has gone so so quiet

WTF is going on, Not even the Gutter Press are making up some bullshit about it, and the Ruskies themselves are in hiding after setting a deadline.

    I reckon it is happening

  44. Ja_Gunner

I just read that Real Madrid and Manure are after the 16 year old brazilian Wellington, the one we had on trial.

He seems very talented, now it seems we are letting him slip through our fingers.

It always seems we act fast to secure mediocre players but we always take too long to sign quality players.

I hope we try to tie him up since those clubs have started sniffing around.

  45. Paulinho

I thought we played well today. We had to take care with the bobbly pitch and we slowly took over. The ball just wouldn’t fall for us.

Song was top class. He was decent on the ball but he physically he was a beast, dominated the midfield against a team including Joe Ledley in the engine room, a guy touted as the best player outside the premier league. Cardiff quality wise are very close to teams like Stoke so Song controlling the midfield in the fashion he did, with Ramsay playing awfully, was no mean feat.

The only player that concerned defensively was Toure. He still a panicky clown with or without Gallas.

  46. patthegooner

Thats why it was a lunch time kick off Pedro, we are under Curfew now, not allowed out the house till the sun comes up. Its for our own safety

  47. patthegooner

    See you later GMR,

It was a performance and result that divided all of us. I think everyones Expectations today differed greatly but that is football.

  48. Evo in Oz

morning all. fairly boring performance hey?

i thought Gibbs could have been close to best on ground for us. Kolo was pretty good Also.

  49. Pedro

Personally… there has never been a time when I’d be satisfied with a draw against a championship, no matter how great their home record is/was.

    Horses for courses I guess.

  50. Wrighty7

    Evening all!

    I’ll be honest here.

I can’t believe that I was worried about today’s game, but I was. I really saw it as a potential banana skin cup-tie for us and in a way I’m glad we came through unscathed.

In the past I’d have had Cardiff away in the cup all day long but I was worried because this squad has suffered so many shock results already this season.

I’m trying to take the positives. A clean sheet, continuing the unbeaten run and the fact our name is in the 5th round draw.

I feel depressed that I was worried but thats how I felt.

  51. patthegooner

Morning Evo (That still seems weird as it is only 9:30 here)

Agree Gibbs was a major positive today. Thought Kolo was ok but thought Djourou again showed the more experienced defenders up with his performance.

also thought RVP looked sharp and I am not a fan of his really. Nasri did some good work as well. but I think there were a lot of averages and a fair few of them seemed to be just going through the motions. it was like a replay was pre-arranged.

  52. Angry Loner

    Pedro;

Let it go fella! NO ONE said they were satisfied/happy/about to come coz of the result!!!

Just that, we’re still in the draw, have a home tie against them, and apart from a huge fuck up will have another home tie against teams we should beat too.

  53. Angry Loner

    pattg;

You not a fan of RvP then mate? What is it you dont rate about him? For me, he’s an outstanding player, has all the talent in the world and is our main creative outlet at the moment, thankfully he’s been injury free for a good long while now too, which must help his form.

  54. patthegooner

I think that is where the split is Pedro,

Are you talking on an Arsenal point of view or on a point of view after you heard the line up.

Arsenal wise I agree, we should have played full strength and then a win is the only acceptable result. But when you play a weakened side and one that has not really played together and when you play that poorly as a team then a draw seems ok.

I think Wengers continued team selection changes is what is not acceptable, and ok you can say well there are a lot of injuries and we play Wednesday, but that is what building a squad is all about.

  55. patthegooner

It is just a personal one Angry, He is still winning me over

On his day he is fucking awesome dont get me wrong, but those days have always been few and far between. He just does not seem to have moved forwards in his time at the club. I still remember what I consider to be his best game against Blackburn in the Semi Final and that was four years ago. I feel that he is inconsitent but I do hope that is down to injuries.

This is his make or break season in my eyes. He can convince me and there are signs that this year could be nearly a injury free one (Touch Wood), and he is now one goal short of equaling his best season haul of 13 (In all Competitions) which is not great even for a support striker.

I hope he does Angry, as we need some geniune world class players for the kids to look up to.

  56. Angry Loner

So now apparently Chaz N’Zogbia fancies a move to Villa, after he was all gushing about wanting to join Arsenal! Oh and he hasnt shut the door on a move to Lyon or even, perish the thought! Stay at that horrible Newcastle who are such meanies to him!

Modern day footballers; dont you just love em?

  57. chozzer

Is it 6 games (CL or FA cup) included in the season ticket?
If it is, then Plymouth, Cardiff replay and WBA/Burnley (assuming we beat Cardiff) will take it to 6 which means the Roma game won’t be included.
    Anyone?

  58. patthegooner

    Nzogbia what a fool

“Arsenal and Aston Villa are top teams in the English league, so I’d be happy to join them.

“I don’t have a priority. Both are good clubs, but I have a little preference for Aston Villa.

Might have something to do with the fact that Wenger said he is not interested in you.

  59. patthegooner

    Thing is angry

I agree with you, but Arshavin was doing that all last summer and now we are all over him like a rash.

  60. Angry Loner

    PatTG;

I really think RvP has been held back by injuries and if was luckier with em, we’d have seen him come on a lot more. IF he can get this season under his belt injury free, he will, IMO, not only smash the 20 goal mark, but end the season as our main man! Blimey!

  61. patthegooner

Then I am with you then Pedro.

And when I said I would take a draw it was based on the assumption that we would risk a weakened team against them.

  62. Angry Loner

    Pattg;

Yeah, BUT Arshavins a top player so its OK!

Goin back to RvP; I also love his interviews. he really does seem to love playing for the club.

BTW; How does one get an avatar?

  63. chozzer

    Cheers Pedro.

I didn’t see the game today, just listened on the radio.
I looked on here to see how we got on, but am more confused now than ever.
    Polarised opinion or what.
The guy on Radio 5 said he’d seen blokes stagger out of the pub at closing time that had better balance than Eboue.

  64. Pedro

Rustum… check the bench we had, then tell me that was the strongest team.

Angry, totally agree with what you are saying. I really think RvP loves the club and he doesn’t get enough credit for that.

He started last year as our main man… and he’ll finish this season as our main man. I think we’ll lose Ade this summer… anyone else?

  65. Evo in Oz

    Ramsey was off the boil.
Fabianski cant kick as far as Almunia.
Kanu jnr scuffed his shot for the winner.
Nikki B couldnt weave any of his recent magic.
RVP was jinking around as per usual, but couldnt quite strike a winner either.
Eboue actually looked like the other guy who could glide across the turf, the others looked like they were getting bogged down. he totally deserved his yellow though.
Kolo did a good job of marshalling Djourou. he still needs guidance for where to stand to spring the offside trap.

  66. patthegooner

I actually hope we do Pedro

Adebayor lost me in that ridiculous press conference in the summer. I had defended him all season and after that I just thought Fuck you

I hope we sell him and get a real North Bank Darling to play alongside RVP.

I think a lot will depend on the impact of Eduardo until the end of the season. I cant wait till he comes back, he was just getting the hang of things when that thug nigh on crippled him. And vela too, we have some bright striking prospects but I still think we could do with a now player.

  67. patthegooner

    That could be interesting then.

Personally I want Burnley and I want to play a strong team and rip them apart.

……If we beat Cardiff of course.

  68. patthegooner

I like Simpson but feel he will be another Kevin Campbell.

I dont think he will make it at Arsenal.

I can see him ending up at a West Ham or Pompey like team

  69. Evo in Oz

we will beat them at the Emirates no worries, that pitch was a shite pile down in cardiff. they should be embarrassed turning out a pitch like that!

  70. Angry Loner

    PatTG;

We’ll see mate. I rate him (then again, I always expect all the kids to come good!) and he looked out the door at the end of last season, but his performances pre-season and in the CC not to mention so far for WBA have been impressive.

  71. patthegooner

I hope ramsey plays in the replay as well

and lets get behind him. I think the booing of him today got the desired effect but it lacked class.

  72. Paulinho

BTW, when I say we played well, I mean by Arsenal’s spasticated standards this year.

Of course, it doesn’t compare on iota to the football that Hleb, Fabregas and Rosicky could serve up. We’re several levels below that.

Still, we’re more fluent than we were a few months ago and Nasri is coming along.

  73. gambon

Pedro, i think Ade will go. I dont think Wemger wouldve minded cashing in this summer if he could get a) right price and b) right replacement but they didnt occur. I think we need to put a top class forward alongside RVP then we will have a great front pairing.

  74. patthegooner

I dont know Evo, they know it is a leveller.

and they are not going to spend any cash on it, as they move into the new stadium next season.

Now Wigan’s pitch is embarrasing, that is a fucking allotment, I think one of our shots got stopped by a cabbage last season.

When it comes to the PL, I think Clubs should be fined if there pitch gets that bad, and they cant blame Rugby, I watch the Ospreys Rugby Team who share with Swansea and their pitch is like a carpet all season.

  75. Evo in Oz

i think i might have said last season that Gibbs didnt look like he could make it, so i would like to rescind that now thanks!

  76. Nightman

he would have created some REAL chances in the second half…not that ABSOLUTE SHITE we played

It was so mind numbingly predictable and uncreative at times….

WHAT does he expect to get from the TALENTED Nasri all the way on the left, he DOES NOT have the pace to threaten from there…

He is wasting him out there..

  77. Angry Loner

Pattg; Just been on SSN. Seemed pretty nailed on and not your usual bullshizen!

Evo; Gibbs looks really good to me, Clichy’s understudy… the left back conveyor belt keeps on churning em out!

  78. Evo in Oz

yep i concur, happy with Gibbs. he looks like he has bulked up a bit and he looks like a direct copy of clichy in the making!

Despite Cardiff having those couple of shots on goal in the first half, i actually got bored in the 2nd half cause it never looked like they would get down their end to try and score. we just needed to slot one to win it! the pitch didnt help, the ball just bobbled around like a cork in the ocean!

  79. Pat

Well, well, well. Madrid and Manchester United are battling it out for Wellington. Didn’t we just have a chance to sign him?

  80. Angry Loner

    Pat;

If we hadve signed him (still might) then I can imagine the responses to that! Oh FFS! Not another kid!!!!

  81. Pat

So, N’Zoggbia prefers Villa over Arsenal now? Just a few weeks ago he said he wants to join Arsenal!

Sunderland full-back Pascal Chimbonda is set to move back to Tottenham, Sky Sports News understands.

The French full-back only moved to Wearside in July last summer, when Sunderland snapped him up along with fellow Spurs players Steed Maldbranque and Teemu Tainio.

However, it was not long before Chimbonda fell out with the then manger Roy Keane.

Following Keane’s departure he was used by new boss Ricky Sbragia – but he clearly feels he needs strength in other areas and has sanctioned the sale.

The two clubs have agreed terms and Sky Sports News understands that Chimbonda is now set to have a medical in North London.

The move comes just hours after Sbragia condemned Spurs for their ‘methods’ in attempting to land Kenwyne Jones.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has made no secret of his desire to bolster his squad during the transfer window and the capture of Chimbonda will mark the arrival of another former player, following Jermain Defoe’s switch back to White Hart Lane from Portsmouth.

  82. patthegooner

off the subjec and it might not be your bag, but was anyone watching the Orange Unsigned acts series on Channel 4.

A scottish lad called Tommy Reilly won it and fair play he is pretty good, listen to him on his myspace page

    http://www.myspace.com/tommyreillymusic

I think it will be an acquired taste similar to the proclaimers as his accent does come out, but for some reason I am loving it and it is not my type of music at all

  83. Pat

I wish we signed De Jong.

“I like a tackle; that is true,” he said, after joining City’s training camp in Tenerife at the end of the week. “My role is to play in front of the back four, win the ball and give to the attacking players in the team. There is nothing special about it but it is an important role, a team role and my aim is to be part of a team that is going to be successful.

“That is the desire of everyone I have spoken to at City but I also understand clearly that success is not going to come overnight and that it might be hard going for the next couple of months or even a year as the side is built. There is clearly a plan in place here and we hope to execute it.

“I just want to be the best player that I can be. I have heard about the intensity of the work they do at City and I have spoken to Mark Hughes about it. I like that approach because I am a training animal.”
