Arsenal look set to play with 10 men and they’ll be young ones too.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

Had to mention the fact that Arsene Wenger told us we should forget how young this team is, how can we do that Arsene? You don’t stop telling us that and as a result of winning nothing for the last 4 years we kind of know it, so please, go and sign some grown ups and stop lecturing us on how young the team is, it’s becoming a bit of a sore point.

Word on the street is the Arshavin deal is off, but I am convinced it will happen, god told me last night in my dream, he said there is no way Zenit will hold out for more money because Arshavin will be hated more than Adebayor when he wanted out in the summer and it will be impossible to keep him. And for those of you that are religious, I’m church of England and we all know god is English, but this god that came to me last night wasn’t that god, this one was a girl god, like the one in Jason and the Argonauts.

I saw Joe Ledley’s recent goal last night so I hope he doesn’t have his scoring boots on when we play Cardiff, he does look good, I still think we’ll win this one without too much trouble but you never know in the FA cup, and they will want to go back to Wembley again so we have to be careful. Potential banana skin this one.

I told everyone in the pub last night that Robin will soon be the best player on the planet so I hope for my sake he has a blinder as I’m going back there to watch the game tomorrow, so I don’t want people to laugh at me.

I still don’t know why it’s taking so long to sign a player, he’s either coming or he’s not, but this also happened with Nasri didn’t it? It appears to be the Arsenal way nowadays so we all have to suffer and when it does happen we have to be very thankful, don’t forget people, we are just fans, sit down, shut up and be grateful.

It gets difficult to write when there is nothing to write about, it was easier in the summer as there was mass speculation, so lets just hope the team he puts out tomorrow doesn’t include Alexandre Song, because that guy is completely useless, I read somewhere yesterday that Wenger referred to him as his invisible wall, I think the word ‘wall’ was added by the press department. Invisible makes sense but together I’m lost for words, if anyone knows what he meant pray enlighten me.

Still whatever I say I know he’ll be playing on Sunday so we’ll see just how bad he really is when the championship kids run rings around him, I was chatting to a Manc last night who cannot understand how we can field a player that makes Kleberson look like Pele, he found that amusing and I had to take it all the way up the arse because he was spot on.

So if Song does play then we play against Cardiff with 10 men, let’s hope the 10 play well, because this won’t be an easy one, here’s also hoping that the Spuds and the Mancs both go out today, but we know that won’t happen no matter how much we pray to my new found god!

Enjoy Saturday Grovers, for tomorrow we dine in Wales.

For the love of God, i’ve just had to sit through that fecking Mama fucking Mia, i feel fucking violated 8O

  2. BOY BETTER KNOW

there’s some geezah claiming on on the bbc 606 boards that a news of the world journo has said micah richards maybe joining us for 7 million

  3. BOY BETTER KNOW

News of the world’s sport’s editor said on 5 live that Richards-from Man City- will be joining Arsenal for 7m.
    On 5 mins ago-for what’s it worth.

  4. patthegooner

You will find out in about an hour then,

There 1st run gets linked on Newsnow just before midnight.

I would not be surprised in the least, Hasn’t he played CM in the past as well?

  5. patthegooner

Richards as the CM and Arshavin

I would take that right now. Richards has been pants this year, but I reckon Wenger would get the best out of him

  6. gambon

Henry scores the third. Their front three are ridiculous, think thats 44 league goals betwen em. And Messi is better than Ronaldo, without doubt.

  7. Mandanda

This Messi kid is sensational. If he continues at this rate he could join the elite of Pele, Cryuff, Maradona in 3-5 years

  8. London

    BBK

I am absolutely staggered that you blame Almunia for the goal against Hull. I respect your view if that is the case but certainly do not share it.

  9. Stu

Messi is a better player but Ronaldo WAS in a better team.

Believe it or not I dont like either of Maradonna or Pele. (probably because I saw neither play)

  10. Mandanda

Messi makes evryone else look so ordinary

he is simply unbelievable, it must be a privilege playing with him

and yeah add Zidane and de Stefano to the all time elite

  11. patthegooner

I would agree with that Stu

But could you imagine throwing Ronaldo into the Barcelona mix as well

Do you think that any Arsenal Player could get into the Barca side now?

  12. gambon

    BBK,

he has 22 so far plus he is a far more creative influence than CR. The league is wrapped up, as for the champs league they are far better than any team bar UTD (who they are still better than)

  13. Ja_Gunner

As I have pointed out before Ronaldo only scored 42 goals because the strikers (Rooney & Teves) did all the dirty work and even helped to defend last year.

Ronaldo took 255 shots (plus most freekicks & penalties) to score 42 goals.
Rooney took about 140+ shots and Teves took about 110 shots.
And remember these guys are strikers, they sacrificed their game for Ronaldo.

Compare that to Henry in the invicncible season 175 shots 39 goals.

Look at this season Ronaldo has not done so well because the team dynamic has changed, its not all about him anymore.

He scored 42 goals but managed only 7 assists last year.

Compare that to Messi this season. He has 23 goals already and at least 12 assists. This suggests that not only is he is doing well individually he is also making ppl around him better.

  14. patthegooner

And before Dave T jumps on my back for being negative

Lets be honest, can you even see an Arsenal Player being short-listed for any credible Player of the Year awards?

  15. john

we need to beat beat cardiff and then beat everton then we can push on. this arshavin things dragged on to long borin now .

  16. Mandanda

Didn’t see Pele, Cryuff or de Stefano play either but judging from old footage, managers opinions, ex-players’ opinions and the share stats one should be able to draw some sort of logical assessment… i tend to rate these players in the context within which they played as it would be student to start comparing players from diff periods, football in the 50s is diff from football in the 80s or 90s

  17. Stu

Ronaldo was the best player of last season while Messi has been the best this.

It should be changed to player of the season not world plaer of the year because Ronaldo has been poor since last season ended.

Ronaldo ; player of the season yes, player of the year? Arguably no.

  18. patthegooner

Two Massive games in our season John

I reckon we are capable of winning both but I would not put any real money on it.

  19. Mandanda

Ronaldo deserved his award last season, nothing more obvious esp since Kaka and messi had injury problems all thru the season

and yeah ManU won the main trophies. not sure if Manure are better than his Barca team but I think they are the only ones that can challenge them atm

    NOTW story on Micah Richards

ARSENE WENGER will make a £7million raid for England defender Micah Richards.

And sources close to the Arsenal boss claim he is supremely confident of landing the unsettled Manchester City star.

Wenger has been a huge admirer of Richards since the 20-year-old burst on to the Premier League scene three years ago. And he had been sizing up a swoop before Richards signed a new five-year deal 12 months ago.

The idea of Richards going for as little as £7m would have been unthinkable then but a poor run of form has left City looking for experienced top-class defenders in the transfer window.

Wenger believes he can resurrect Richards’ career — and his 2010 World Cup hopes with England — at a price that does not break the bank.

  21. choy

i think the judges need 4-5 months to review a players season.. hence the timing is a bit fucked up…

where the fook is the russian..

  23. john

yeah true ptg i think if we get three points at everton we then play west ham at home why liverpool chelsea and villa are all playing each other chance to close the gap on them. forget united they will win the league thier to strong!!

  24. London

I wouldn’t put it past Wenger to want to try and put in a cheeky bid like that. He loves a good player that isn’t working out at his current club: Viera and Henry are the first two names that spring to mind and I am sure there are others.

  25. patthegooner

    Agree John

Man Ure will comfortably win the League, but with a couple of good signings, 2nd place should be achieveable, but they wont be here in time for Everton and that is why it is so massive, especially as Villa are down at struggling Pompey.

  26. patthegooner

I did post it but it got blocked, just go to their site and you will see it down on the LH side, in between Man Shitty signing Diego and the Spuds signing Cudicini

  27. Mandanda

without his 42 goals, I’d rather have Kaka and/or Messi in my team, if I had to choose 1 or 2….better team players for me

  28. Ja_Gunner

Ronaldo definitely deserved the award for last year.

BUT Messi is overall the better player.

And yeah its only after he guides Barca to some titles that it will be “formalised”

As I said last year the Manure team was built for Ronaldo.

This Barca team is not built for Messi….Messi is excelling and making others around him better.

Even though Manure had a good team last year. They only beat Barca because Barca was not clicking on all cylinders like this year.

Having said that though there is no guarantee that Barca would beat Manure this year because Manure is built on solid defense while Barca is the hottest attacking team, so it would be case of solid defense vs quality attacking. We cant know who would come out on top.

  29. patthegooner

Dont think it is that London

But Alves is maybe the only better RB than Sagna IMO.

I never used to like Abidol but he is better this year. Clichy is on a par with him though so maybe Clichy would have more chance of getting in the Barca side than Sagna

  30. Mandanda

I’d rather have Senderos than Richards…Richards’ development has been stunted from over-exposure at such a young age without relying earning those reviews. He is way to cumbersome and one dimensional…The kid needs time to learn his game but he’s already on smthing like £70,000/week so what is the incentive to learn I hear u ask?

  31. patthegooner

    I dont know Mandanda

Not sure what it is about Richards, but I have a feeling that Wenger could get the best out of him. I think he could do a job at Arsenal. Problem is, is it an instant fix or would he be another potential.

  32. Mandanda

pat, hleb had his customary 5mins from the bench lol

good ol solid gary neville, i rate him for holding that stare against Viera than his defending :)

  33. Ja_Gunner

Hleb got about 10 mins or less.

He will win a title but he would not have contributed much to it.

BUt I am happy Henry will add another trophy to his medal chest.

I also hope that Barcelona will win the Championsleague IF WE DONT.

Henry deserves the elusive Champions league, if he wins that then I think he can be fully satisfied with his career. I dont blame him for leaving, we are not as ambitious as a club as we should be.

I mean squabbling over paying an extra 3-5 mil pounds FOR ARSHAVIN just sums it up.
Peny wise and pound foolish. We should live within our means …not penny pinch.

THAT EXTRA 3-5 MIL POUNDS IS NOTHING IN THE GRANDER SCHEME OF THINGS.

  34. London

I dont think Arshavin will be the only bit of busines we do. I know Wenger isn’t going to spend big an any one else but he loves to pick up a bargin on the last day of the sales: Diarra and Sylvestre spring to mind.

  35. patthegooner

    I agree with you London,

I think there will be definately movement regardless of whether or not Arshavin joins. I dont have a clue who it will be though. Maybe a loan player.

  36. patthegooner

I honestly think it is just a column filler though. Will probably be rubbished by either club by the end of the day tomorrow.

  37. Mandanda

we need players to win us trophies BBK, if they are English the better but that is more ethical than economical and we all know what is more important to the guys running the club or most businesses.

  38. patthegooner

And I guess if it is a loan player, then you are probably looking at either a Journey Man or a player from a club that is financially in the poop

  39. patthegooner

If we are after Richards, I can only think that he is someone that Wenger has in mind to replace Gallas and is a little shocked that he is suddenly available and at a good price so is moving now rather than waiting for the summer by which time he may have got his form back and his price rocketed or become unavilable……Especially as Hughes wont be there next season and the new guy might want to keep him

  40. patthegooner

Richards is a different type of CB to Djourou.

Playing Richards with either Gallas or Toure will be like playing Gallas and Toure.

  41. patthegooner

What I would say is that Micah can play CB, RB or CM which is the kind of Attribute Wenger loves in his players.

  42. Mandanda

I really can’t see Wenger going for Richards, and quite I would’t support it he’s on a big wage already and there are better players out there at the same age. I certainly rate the Diakhate kid at Lazio higher – a French JD if u ask me

  43. BOY BETTER KNOW

come on we were linked with upson so much he even had a medical last saturday with do you think wenger would prefer unexperienced richards or upson who is nearly 30

  44. patthegooner

I am just mega clutching at straws London.

Lets face it, it could be credible and that is how these tossers at the NOTW come up with it in the first place.

    A bit like the NOTW’s other stories/

Man City need to apease Robinho, so they trawl the world looking for a Brazilian that is half decent and come up with Diego

The Spuds need a Keeper so they trawl the Premiership looking for a replacement and come up with Cudicini

  45. Mandanda

If you don’t like Song playing CM/DM then you’d “luuuuuuuuuuuuuvvvvv” Richards playing CM/DM…its like watching an elephant playing ball at some Indian tourist site

  46. Paulinho

    Evening London

Sagna is a better player than Clichy but then Alves is a far better player than Abidal.

It’s more of a reflection of how good Alves is going forward than how bad Sagna is.

I would be in favour of signing Richards. He’s a gooner and has potential.

Although I would prefer the money to go on Arshavin and I don’t think it is genuine interest either. We have too many players of his type.

  47. Paulinho

Man City might be looking to play Kompany alongside Dunne in defence and play De Jong as their defensive midfielder.

  48. London

Yeah, I understand what you mean about Sagna failings going forward. That said, I wonder if Sagna is a better defender, i must admit I can only picture Alves charging forward; Barcelona don’t usually have too much defending to do.

  49. Mandanda

    London
I think Alves/Maicon are just as good at defending as they in attacking, they are like the modern Maldini/Thuram (as full backs),

  50. john

also if we do sign arshavin and richards new faces might shut us all up and make players work extra hard for a place in the side!!

  51. PDT

This is not the first time that Arsene has voiced his admiration for Micah. And Micah has also said he followed us when he was young. This would be a good deal to make.

  52. BOY BETTER KNOW

out of arshavin and micah i would want this one to happen wenger will probably deny it tomorrow tho BOOOOOOOH

  53. Stu

In all honesty I see Richards as a younger, english version of Toure. Both are/were amazing athletes, great bursts of speed and neither are particularly great defenders, they just rely on their speed to get out of trouble.

  54. Stu

Richards isnt a good enough defender to play CB, not a good enough footballer to be considered for DM by Wenger and wont displace Sagna at right back so where would he play?

  55. Stu

Can Upson considered as an exceptional talent? Either by us or more importantly by Wenger?

In any case Wenger has already said he isnt after any defenders and he also doesnt buy back players so I am ruling Upson out.

Its more likely to either be a nobody who is shit (cygan) or and oldie who isnt wanted by his club anymore (eg Silvestre).

Either way Wenger is useless at buying defensive minded players, be they goalkeepers or defenders. It just aint how wenger rolls.

  56. tonyadamsisgod

Come on guys! Richards, under Wenger could be exceptional!! Be it at right back or centre back, this guy could be massive! £5m for someone with soooo much potential shouldn’t even be argued about! Its a steal!

  57. Stu

But in all fairness what defender has ever become good under Wenger? Wenger has a history of being shit at buying defensive minds, so why would that change now?

  58. Stu

I wish i was more daring with my money.

I won 11guid off 1.50 today but if i had been more confident I could have won 22 instead. Shame really but 11 aint bad.

  59. Keyser

Stu – Greed, leads to a gambling addiction.. The more risk you’re willing to take the worse it’ll get.

Invest that 11 pound in a trust fund..

  60. David

Well it doesnt make sense to be going after a CB especially since we are currently lacking in the wing/creativity department
