Kolo is the Arsenal don’t let him go Arsene.

by & filed under Uncategorized.

I wake up to the news that William Gallas has been mouthing off to Wenger that he and talisman Kolo Toure can’t play together, if this is true and Wenger is listening, I have to say, I am a little concerned.

This is why he should listen.

  • Kolo was the beginning of your revolution.
  • Kolo would die for the fans and for the shirt.
  • Kolo never gives in.
  • Kolo never complains.
  • Kolo was alongside Sol Campbell in the invincibles, so he can play.
  • Kolo got sent off in a cup final.

Gallas is a great player, but does seem to cause a lot of problems and when he leaves, will always be considered a chav and will probably guest on Sky as a Chav, just like Pat Jennings did and does.

This is why he won’t.

  • Gallas is French.

If he does decide to let Kolo go then he must use his brains and demand Richards as part of the deal, otherwise it will be like the Hleb and Henry deals, they get everything and we get a sack of cash we’ll never spend.

The Arshavin rumours won’t go away and word is now he’ll take a pay cut and given he’ll have to take one in Russia anyway soon, he could well be on his way. I now expect that deal to happen. Arteta looks to be the Cesc replacement and to be honest I’m not against that either, these two arriving will make us a much stronger unit, especially when the injured players come back from sick leave.

It still leaves us short at centre back and if Kolo leaves then he really needs to bring in Chelleini or Richards, my choice would be Chelleini because he is that good, but I wouldn’t sulk if it were Richards.

To be honest though with Gallas at 31 and Kolo at 27, I could also see Gallas going and YaYa coming in.

Shay Given for Almunia I would take but not as well as, it makes no sense to bring in another to cause disharmony in the camp, so I can take it or leave it, but I wouldn’t pay £8mil, I’d sooner spend that outfield.

So lots could be happening today and tomorrow, I hope he acts quickly because we need help now, not at the end of January and there are not a lot of clubs out there spending so that old chestnut excuse is dead.

Astonfuckingluckyvilla, you can’t be that lucky for much longer you smug northern monkeys, your time will come and you’ll be scrapping Hull or Wigan for 6th place.

Have another hopeful day today Grovers!

PDT- that artical does seem a bit too much, + i think todays footballers are products that will take the biggest cheque possible, not matter their allegences…

  2. A

stu gourcuff can’t go anywhere in jan unfortunately, his loan to bordeaux is season-long.

I really could see any one of elano, arteta, or kranjcar, and some obscure french beast of a dm, and i’d be very happy

  3. A

only if bordeaux let them bergkamp. It isn’t like on football manager where a club can just recall a player if they want, bourdeaux will have paid money to loan gourcuff for a year, and they now own him for a year, milan have nothing to do with him and no authority over him or bordeaux.

  4. BOY BETTER KNOW SHO!!!!

i can see arshavin and witsel coming in i dont think arteta will come t.b.h.everton will fight tooth and nail to keep him

  5. A

yeah i am a big gourcuff fan, and when senderos went on loan i hoped we would have demanded first option on him, but i doubt we’ll be after him in the summer, as we’ll have nasri, wilshere, theo, rosicky back hopefully, merida, vela to an extent, and whoever we sign in jan. Never know though! Gourcuff and nasri on the flanks would be amazing, though then again nasri and wilshere will be incredible too!

  6. A

depends on the terms of the loan agreement stu, with a player like gourcuff theres no way milan would have allowed him go there for free, and no way bordeaux would have allowed a clause whereby he can just be recalled.

It happens sometimes when players in england who the club wants to give regular starts to go to lower league teams, but not with high profile loan deals in europe

  7. Pat

Getting Arteta and Arshavin would be amazing. Then a CB or CDM is needed.

Aston Villa has all the luck right now. Last minute winner against Everton(where they were dominated and only had 4 shots on goal)

Then own goal against West Ham and again against Hull. When willl it run out?

  8. A

its one or the other pat, we’ll never get both, and don’t need both.

villa have had their best season ever, played absolutely at their peak, and had all the luck they could have, they can only get worse theres no way they can maintain it

we’ve had our worst season ever, been unlucky with refs, injuries, in fighting etc, we can only get better

yet we’re pretty much level, there’s no way they’ll be challenging us come the end of the season

  9. paul

Guys i have had two tickets up for grabs on le exchange now for two days.I had one guy from America interested but he changed his mind. These are two club level tickets at £30 each.I cannot believe there are gooners out there missing out on the chance to go to the Emirates.

  10. patthegooner

If I did not have family down Paul, I would take them. I will be wetting the babies head at an Arsenal game at some point in Jan and where better to do it than Club Level.

I guess it might be the Bolton Home game where I will get to see Villa, Arshavin, Vieira and Arteta’s debuts.

  11. Stu

Paul, i would take them too but im in another country so it would be very difficult. Thanks anyway.

Where is everyone gone. Do I need to make a bold statement to get anither topic going?

  12. Stu

No takers huh! Well here goes………………Should Wenger be sacked if he doesnt buy or before he doesnt buy?

If we sack him now the new mamager will have the window to get his own players into te club.

But if we wait for Wenger to buy he might not and firing him after the window closes will give us no change of fixing things.

  13. A

if we sacked wenger this transfer window we wouldn’t have a hope of getting champs league football, and would become a mid table club!

  14. leon

for me ever since toure got injured at dj took his place they started to condede alot lless goals ,forget about how popular toure is the fact is evon though gallas is not as popular than toure he is better than him,i would keep not sell galas.

i know certain fans wont agree with me but i would keep delinson and diaby, delisnon is very hard working, his passing very good he just needs to work on tracking back a bit more i like energy levels and he is has very high work rate, but i would get more established player at the same time, diaby it better suited player just behind the strikers i see as a hleb like player. song is not upto it.

i feel the central defence is not something that urgently needs work that can wait until the summer, central midfield something that needs more work and oviously there need somemore experienced players in that area and may be one wide player

  15. Confidentgoner

    A,

depends on who replaces him. He is not a super human and yes, he can be replaced. but we are dreaming here. This board cannot do it.

  16. bergkamp

lol stu,if we sack wenger then the new manager would need 3 or 4 months to steady the ship, the players would not be chuffed to say the least

  17. bergkamp

sacking wenger durin a season would be a disaster, now after the 90th minute of the last game of the season, thats the best time

  18. avenell

Arsene Wenger has done more for Arsenal football club in the 39 years I have supported Arsenal than any other manager.

Why should we just sack him like he is a piece of shit that we don’t care about?

  19. Confidentgoner

    bergkamp,

Rednapp in Spurs is an example of a manager that took control and turned it around. It depends on the manager and the players he has to work with. Wenger has not impressed in player selection, motivation, sub strategy and sub timing.

  20. bergkamp

avenell, are you for gallas or toure?? i dont really believe this one bit the whole story, but gallas well, kolo is arsenal, shyt or not,i keep kolo

  21. patthegooner

Wenger could take a big shit on PHW desk and then run naked through the Diamond Club lounge with a Tottenham Hotspur willy warmer on and still singing glory glory tottenham hotspur and then give them Cesc for free and sign Huddlestone for 30m and he still would not get sacked. He is unsackable.

I think he could actually finish 7th or 8th and still get the backing.

Not sure how long the fans will put up with it though, he reaps what he sows and a lot will depend on who he buys, what we win, where we finish and what style of football we play till the end of the Season.

But if carries on like this, I can honestly say I enjoyed watching a George Graham team more. the football has been dreadful this season and we are returning to boring boring Arsenal.

I hope he can turn it around.

  22. Stu

    Haha It worked!

Im not saying I would definately sack him but it would become a serious consideration if the proper buys were not made in January. I could have predivted the responses tho.

  23. A

i don’t think signings could have anything whatsoever to do with sacking him, the team’s performance come the end of the season is the thing that would decide that, signings wouldn’t have any bearing on it

  24. Confidentgoner

    avenell,
Past performance is not a guarantee of future or present performance. He did a job , was adequately rewarded for it, that’s not an excuse to misjudge your team reqmts.

  25. avenell

bergkamp ….toure every day of the week.

Everyone says he ain’t been right since the anc.. but he played out of position when Sagna’s bro died and when sagna got injured.

  26. patthegooner

Respect is a two way street avenell,

I think every Arsenal fan respects what the man has done for our club, but like wise they do not particularly like the direction he is taking us in at the moment.

This is a huge month for Arsene, he really needs to start showing his paying audience that he is turning the corner, otherwise the paying audience will start voting with their feet and the bad vibes will start to become vocal. He needs to start showing the Club and the fans a bit more respect in my eyes. There has been a lot of baffling calls this season and it stinks of under investment and bad management.

I hope he can pull it around, but I need to be convinced he can.

  27. patthegooner

A I agree in part, but I think the new signings could have a bearing on how we are performing come the end of the Season.

  28. bergkamp

avenell,i think toure is low on confidence,i think gallas is a finger pointing type,we need a proper leader, cesc can have the armband but our problems will continue till we get a proper leader, and we need gallas to either piss off or shut the fuck up,its his choice,he thinks he is more important than everyone,he is 31 and causing problems,i think they should kick him out

  29. avenell

So who else could have stayed in the top 4 and helped fund a stadium?

    £400 mill Fergie?
    £300 mill mouriniho?

Get real, Wenger is the best, he fucked half a season and he needs a chance to put it right…..

  30. Confidentgoner

judging a manager’s perfiormance is based on milestones, not necessarly end of season. Schuster, Ince, lost their jobs before season end. Anyway, why this debate, we have a board that cannot contemplate that action.

  31. bergkamp

i agree, wenger needs to see the money,if he dont use it then hold him accountable, this jan and the summer are his chance hopefully

  32. A

If we finished 5th i think wenger would be under a fair bit of pressure. As it is, at the moment a club of our size has no right to have any success greater than champions league football, so if we achieve anything more than that it’s a bonus, and fantastic achievement! we SHOULD be a level below utd, chelsea, liverpool, and the only reason we could keep up with them is through having a superior manager, which we do!

  33. bergkamp

the board can comtemplate that action, this is the thing,if they think he is doin a good job maybe this is because they know the financial restraints that he has had put on him while others have accumilated more debt in a trail that was more for their own cv’s rather than the greater good

  34. bergkamp

agreed A,see people have to be slightly realistic when looking at our achievement when huge liverpool twice as famous still play infront of a shed, wenger has contributed to the clubs success in a different way in recent years

  35. bergkamp

wenger is payin the price for loyalty, people bang on an on but wenger could have left for a big club long before we could have filled a 60thousand all seater,we would be at square one still

  36. avenell

    I have seen
    Bertie Mee,
    Terry Neal.
    Don Howe,
    George Graham.
    Bruce Rioch.

Arsene Wenger has done as much if not more than all of those and i get fed up with people calling him a cunt.. (sorry ladies).

If he and Arsenal decide to part company so be it, but respect what he has done!!!!

  37. Stu

Just crowsing around on google. Came across this fella called Igor Duric. Serbian, 23yo, 6ft 3.5′ and would be as cheap as chips. Plays for Vojvodina and capped for Serbia.

Cant find any clips on him tho so might be really shite too.

  38. Stu

I hate new years. Its just the same as any other day of the year. Whats all the hype about? And having to shake the hands of people i neither know very much like or want to. Im not the hand shake type and its annoyingly awkward. Its just the end to another shit year. Sorry to put a damper on things.

  39. gnarleygeorge9

    Confident

Do you honestly feel that Harry Redcrapp has turned spuds around. They are a rabble; they are diabolical & are as far away from being a force as Pluto is from the Sun.

The fact that they sacked a manager who got them to back to back 5th speaks volumes for their fickled fans & Board.

Spuds are a ship without a rudder, drifting aimlessly around the Premier League ocean, with Captain Pugwash @ the helm. Redcrapp is simply CRAP.

Spuds are going down Ha Ha Ha Ha Haaaaaaaaa!!!!

So, we should not sack Wenger, coz that is what all the other clubs want us to do. Since when has The Arsenal listened to anyone else.

  40. gnarleygeorge9

    Stu

if he hasn’t sined anyone in 32 days, i might have to reserve a comment or 2 on here coz it will be mayhem. I think the record is over 1800 comments but that would certainly be broken if he doesn’t sign.

  41. gnarleygeorge9

Happy new year to you as well choy; & stu.

In general 2008 was Annus horribilis for The Arsenal. Itwas 2008 when all the long term injuries started; when it all went pearshaped in The League; when Liverwurst got that dodgy penalty in the Champions League; etc.

Go Go Gooooooooooooooooooooooooners in 2009 & onwards :D

  42. Stu

I wish for once that Wenger would buy early and not leave it to the end of the month. He should have done the same as Madrid. Their players will be ready and settled in by the time their winter break is over.

I’ld love to know all the stats on 2008. Surely 09 cant be any worse than the debacle we have witnessed for the last 12months.

  43. patthegooner

    Avenell

He has fucked more than half a season, it is just that it is becoming more apparent now. He has messed up the whole transition from the Invincibles. I am not sure what it is down to, is it purely a management issue or have players let him down. I think he took it pretty hard to see Flamini and Hleb walk out last summer. I know we have lost crucial players in the past but usually towards the end of their careers, but this time it was 2 that had the best years ahead of them. I still believe that if we had kept them and added Nasri we would be right up there this year.

He is better than all of those managers you mention and has done more than all of them put together, but where does this slippery slide end? He could undo all of the great work he has done at the club.

He had nearly 4 months to get the players required going into this season. we all knew we were critically short of class and we all know we have money available to sort it. I dont buy the stories that the players were not available. There must be 20+ players that would be better equiped to play CM and to replace Hleb.

He has Jan though to turn it around and I really hope he does it. They should be putting up a statue outside the ground for Arsene Wenger when he eventually goes but at moment he really is danger of putting a dampner on his career at Arsenal. Sure we should and hopefully everyone will remember the great things he has done for this club, I just hope that we dont remember him for the wrong reasons as well.

  44. patthegooner

So what are your hopes for 2009 guys?

    Mine are

3 Experienced players in Jan to replace the balance. a Creative CM, a Defensive Midfielder, and a pure classy exciting Winger.

To secure 4th place (Anything higher is a bonus, anything lower IS a disaster)

To have a good cup run with hopefully some much needed cheer in a Wembley appearance.

To not be embarrased in the CL, to hopefully get as far as possible.

For Djourou and Gallas to build a solid partnership

For Ade and RVP to develop their partnership and start being a little more consistent.

For Arsenal to start playing the beautiful game again

To strengthen further in the Summer with maybe a World Class Striker coming in

To see more of Vela, Wilshire and Ramsey

    To see less of Song

To see less of Eboue, Denilson and Diaby on the Wings

To see brave managerial calls sooner in a game if it is obvious things are not going well

To see Marting Keown back on the Coaching Staff

To post positively on this blog this time next year in reaction to Arsenal being back where they belong.

    Happy New Year

  45. avenell

Pat…. I agree the pressures on him more than ever. It’s not forever..

But he is not a cunt and we should part company when it suits in a dignified Arsenal way.
I just see sack the arrogant cunt with no respect and I find it upseting for all he as done for us.

  46. patthegooner

Hey I cant lie Avenell, I think I called him a Cretin earlier, but it was in reaction to reading a quote that just riled me on the fly and I posted before calming down.

I think there is a bit of that. Players and Managers will always get called all sorts at the game, thing is as soon as you have said it it has gone, but in blogging you post your thoughts on the fly as you say them out loud and they are here forever.

I know I cant talk for everyone, but I dont think it is intentional abuse, just off the wall on the fly frustration.

Lets hope he gets it right in Jan,

    Happy New Year buddy

  47. Stu

We dont look like signing anyone if certain comments by Wenger himself are to be believed. No news on Arse.com or newsnow so…..

Real Madrid are reportedly after Wenger offering him a £25m contract. I have called for his head in the past but seeing him manage another top club would be heartbreaking. I would obviously prefer him to stay but to change his ways. Every Arsenal fan wants to see m=him go out on a high.

  48. avenell

    Thats better!!!!

Le Grove was getting a bit Arsene negative ..

Happy new year Pat and Stu .. and to all other Grovers reading..

A big thank you to Geoff and Pedro for makin it happen.
    :)

  49. Stu

So…………….whats everyones new year resolutions? I know if i have one I still wont stick to it. So its pretty pointless on my part.

  50. jlp

im early but late HAPPY NEW YEARS GROVERS !!!!!!
i hope fortune changes for our club and good fortune for all on a personal level
BE SAFE ,STAY SMASHED(im just starting with a early liquid dinner) and lets start taking whats there to be took .enough of the fucking around

  51. Stu

Martin Tyler picked his best 10 goals of 2008. What I noticed is that all the goals he picked were this season and Bentleys goal against us was 1st. A better keeper would have saved that so ts a shit winner.

  52. gnarleygeorge9

Ok all you London Gunners, how many of you sang “Same old Arsenal taking the piss” as the clock struck midnight

    2008 is dead, Long live 2009 ;)

  53. Stu

We, including Arsenal, should look to start the year afresh. To all Grovers, a prosperous new year and to ArsenalFC- fight for the title like its your last chance.

  54. RasDef

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every time i pass my comp, just gotta say it!
    Keep grovin’ !
AND COME ON GET IN THEM GUNNERS!!!!
    RASDEFONE.

  55. Stu

The perfect year would be for us to win the treble this season, Spurs to be relegated and some amazing pieces of business in the transfer market.

All in all I wish for the club be be free from all this bullshit and for honesty and proper harmony to come from the club.

  56. GoonerB

    Happy New Year Grovers!!

Let’s hope we all get some good news this month and revive our spirits as well as the teams!

    Up The Gunners!!

  57. gnarleygeorge9

    Stu

There is a good chance that one of your predictions will come true. Spurs to be relegated  Lets build from that.

  58. Stu

A lot of people including pundid(whos opinions i dont value anyway) say that our best shot at silverware is still the Champions League. It seems that people have forgotten about the FA cup. Arsenal as a club are one of the most seccessful clubs in that competition but we have been poor in it in recent years.

Wenger should realise that we wont win the prem or the CL this season and should go for the FA Cup. A trophy is badly needed, even if it is the cup. Winning the FA cup could kick start an era. Wengers final few years at Arsenal should be full of honours. We all want to see him go out on a high dont we?

  59. ethangunner

    Pat

no need to defend your criticism of wenger !
its justified .. and i think he will leave !

this real madrid rumor has been buzzing around for a few days now and wenger hasn’t refuted it ..

also its an ideal ploy to get cesc to move from us to Spain … with wenger in charge cesc wouldn’t be defending his loyalty to us any longer , i just think he would be off !

from the rumors piling up already , it seems arsene is putting the feelers out .. but not sure what will materialize . fingers crossed ..

  60. Stu

Cant really sleep so I will just leave this in a drive-by comment. 3 jan signings that could solve a lot of our problems even if just for the time being.- Arteta, Parker, Hangeland. No need for Hangeland if Senderos is coming back but 2 midfielders that will settle straight away are vital. So for the rest of the season I would go:

    Fabianski
    Sagna JD Phil/Hangeland Clichy
    Arteta Parker Denilson/Ramsey/Merida Nasri
    RvP Ade / Nil Vela

Or any slight variation on that.

  61. kelsey

Morning all and a Happy New year to the directors of Le Grove.

Having read all the gossip this morning, the tabloid editorial staff must have been up all night trying to completely dismantle our team and manager and the exception being no one wants senderos, song eboue or pat rice.read it as it is just trash gossip.

  62. Confidentgoner

    Again a Happy 2009 grovers!

I have noticed the Arsene to Madrid rumours but I think it is just the spanish press flying a kite and unsettling the club. Wenger owes this club big time. he messed up our game and the least he should do before contemplating leaving is to make the right signings and put us back to winning ways.

I notice some bloggers are too emotionally attached to Wenger’s achievement in Arsenal. That is their right, but there are other bloggers who know that we could have been much better than we are if he did more of buying than growing kids who clearly are not yet right. In all my working years, I have only known current assessment as a measure for the next promotion or perk, not a previous assessment. The world moves on and guys who live in the past will only be left behind. The same goes for clubs.
